 A road accident refers to any accident involving at
least one road vehicle, occurring on a road open to
public circulation, and in which at least one person
is injured or killed.
 Road accident in particular is now acknowledged
to be a global phenomenon with authorities in
virtually all countries of the world concerned about
the growth in the number of people killed and
seriously injured on their roads.
 Road traffic accidents have now become a great social
concern in Bangladesh and the situation is deteriorating.
 The annual economic wastage occasioned by traffic
accidents is estimated to be in the order of 2 to 3 percent of
the GDP.
 Each year, there are at least 3,000 fatalities and 3,000
grievous
 Simple injuries from around 3,500 police reported
