This document summarizes the promotion of the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method in Manipur by the Rongmei Naga Baptist Association (RNBA) over multiple phases from 2009 to 2014. It provides details on the number of partner organizations involved, targeted and achieved farmers and acreage for each phase. Key aspects included building the capacity of partners and farmers, research and evaluation, and linkages with government agriculture departments to promote sustainable rice cultivation techniques. Challenges involved lack of irrigation and mitigation for drought, while objectives were to increase productivity, awareness, and sustainability of SRI adoption in the region.

2. Pilot phase (April 2009- March 2010)
 Started in 2009 as a pilot phase with 11 partner NGOs.
 Covered 220 farmer in 55 acres in 8 districts of Manipur and one district in Nagaland
Main phase-I (April 2010- March 2011)
 1970 farmers with 1970 acres (one acres per farmer) in 19 blocks in 8 district of Manipur.
Whereas, we achieved 1625 farmers (85.0%) covering 1224 acres ( 62.1%) with our
strategic 18 NGO partners.
Main phase-II (April 2011-March 2012)
 The impact of pilot phase and main phase-I created a drastic changes in farmer awareness
and willing to adopted SRI. 4605 farmers were covered in 3800 acres under 17 block in 9
district of Manipur. As per the MIS- 4142 farmer adopted (89.9%) under 4509 acres (118.9%,
increase by 720 acres from the set acres.
Main Phase-III (April-2012-March 2013)
After three year experience of SRI program, our partner has been build confident to target
more farmer with the increasing adoption of SRI and awareness subsequent support from
Agriculture Department, ICAR and CAU. 10482 farmers adopted at the average of one acre
per family.
23 blocks under 9 District of Manipur, 8094 farmers adopted by covering 8255.4 acres of
land. About 209 SRI promoter has already been developed in villages.
Main Phase IV (June 2013-April 2014)
The current year SRI program is being implemented by 13 NGOs partners across 23 block,
in 9 Districts of Manipur. Broader approach is to penetrate every nook and corner and

NABARD,CAU,ICAR/KVK and NGOs partners

5.  Selection of action oriented grass-root NGOs from NE region.
 Developing more promoters to impart the set of methods act as an guidance
to the farmers.

Agriculture Department.

6. Lack of irrigation facility hamper for timely implementation.
