This document summarizes a project to promote the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) technique in 8 districts of Assam, India from April 2010 to March 2011. The project was supported by Rs. 38.58 lakh from the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. The main objectives were to increase food grain production, adopt SRI among at least 8,000 farmers, demonstrate its effects, and influence agricultural policy. Strategies included selecting partner NGOs and master trainers in each district to provide training and capacity building to farmers. Over 2,000 farmers adopted SRI in the kharif season, increasing average yields from 5.7 to 10.17 quintals per bigha. Future plans included
