1. The document summarizes a project implemented by Rongmei Naga Baptist Association to promote the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method in Manipur and Nagaland over three phases from 2009-2012.
2. The project worked with over 4,000 farmers across 9 districts, achieving cultivation of over 4,500 acres using SRI methods. This led to increased productivity and food security for farmers.
3. Key achievements included higher crop yields, more tillers per hill, increased panicle length, and greater numbers of fill grains per panicle compared to traditional methods. Partners also faced challenges in timely funding, natural disasters, and farmer acceptance of new techniques.

Study: The Future of VR, AR and Self-Driving CarsLinkedIn
We asked LinkedIn members worldwide about their levels of interest in the latest wave of technology: whether they’re using wearables, and whether they intend to buy self-driving cars and VR headsets as they become available. We asked them too about their attitudes to technology and to the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the devices that they use. The answers were fascinating – and in many cases, surprising.
This SlideShare explores the full results of this study, including detailed market-by-market breakdowns of intention levels for each technology – and how attitudes change with age, location and seniority level. If you’re marketing a tech brand – or planning to use VR and wearables to reach a professional audience – then these are insights you won’t want to miss.

Following the aftermath of Pakistan’s worst floods in 2010, the most urgent need for the rehabilitation process is in the building of homes and restoration of livelihoods that have been destroyed. The pressing need is for communities to be approached in a holistic way so that affected persons can have shelter while also beginning the journey towards self-sufficiency.
Punjab Government in the leadership of chief minister Shahbaz Sharif took the initiative to build 22 model villages with all basic facilities have been constructed in flood hit areas of Punjab. He stated that the construction of the villages would bring new culture in these areas.
Director General, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Khalid Sherdil played leading role in planning, coordinating and managing the construction of state of the art model villages in eleven flood affected districts.

10. Constraints
• Timely release of fund is our concern
• Bandh, strike, hike in fuel price are directly or
indirectly contributing hindrance to farmers in
implementation of project
• Shortage of weeders for farmers
• Government cooperation is essential to scale up
SRI activities
• Low-cost irrigational structures in the valley
• Most of the paddy fields are rain fed & traditional
DBI
• Slow acceptance of SRI by hill farmers
11. Impact
o 4142 ben. = 4520 acres directly benefited in term of food enhancement at
household level
o Increasing productivity and involving more farmers in SRI & modernization of
rice cultivation
o Creating more aware on appropriate eco-friendly agriculture among the
farmers especially hill farmers.
o partners are more realistic and scientific in terms of data presentation
o Creation of SPs in village levels to sustain the extension of SRI in villages and for
other farmers
o Enhance agriculture extension work with state Government, NABARD,
KVK/ICAR
o Cooperation from Agril.Dept
o Providing weeder in subsidy from Agriculture Department.
o Govt. sanctioned 10 lakhs after having the RNBA/partners initiatives of SRI
12. Overall Assessment
• The upland and rain fed areas need to be focussed to
avoid any discouragement when taking up the system.
• Shortage of weeder machine has caused hurdles for
interested SRI farmers.
• Concern authority/departments can play major role in
scaling up SRI.
• Hill districts farmers are slow in adapting SRI
• Majority rice cultivators are facing different pest
attacks.
