RISING INTONATION
- is A patter in which your voice rises to a high
pitch by the end of a thought group or statement.
-rising intonation include questions that can be
answered with a simple yes or no.
-Conveys an impression that something more is
to follow.
- it is used in general question, introductive
phrase( at the beginning of the sentence),
alternative question(before “or”), tag question((in
the second part), direct address and in
enumerating items in a list.
Examples
General question:
-Do you go there /OFten?
-Was she glad to /SEE him?
Introductory phrase:
-If he /CALLS, ask him to COME.
-All of a /SUDden the girl started to CRY.
Alternative question:
-Would you like an /APple or a PEAR?
-Does he speak /ENGlish or GERman?
Tag question:
-It's a beautiful TOWN, /ISN'T it?
Direct address:
-/TOM could you /HELP me, please?

Enumerating:
