Rising intonation is a pattern in which the voice rises to a high pitch at the end of a thought or statement. It is used with general questions that can be answered with yes or no, introductory phrases at the beginning of sentences, alternative questions before "or", tag questions in the second part, direct addresses, and when enumerating items in a list. Examples provided are of general questions, introductory phrases, alternative questions, tag questions, direct addresses, and enumerating items.
