Yong Le Forbidden City
Aside from the beautiful architecture of the temples and palaces surrounding the Forbidden City, and
the sheer magnitude of a holy space dedicated to the emperor, I think the most impressive aspect of
the Forbidden City is the simple fact that such drastic measures were taken to improve the image and
reputation of Yong Le. It is by no means uncommon for leaders to make considerable changes in
themselves, in policy, or in staffing to make a statement, but it seems Yong Le was particularly
concerned with his credibility. He left no stone unturned in ensuring that his people would respect him
as a powerful ruler. As if moving the capitol back to Beijing wasn t enough to convince them, he
forged a new identity for himself. To me, that

Ideo Case Study
Case Study Analysis: IDEO Product Development
The business model for IDEO began as an open minded place to design, develop and manufacture new
products. The last 20 years of proven product design driven by innovation has translated into profit
margins for their clients and continuous refinement for IDEO s process. IDEO pioneered concurrent
engineering where design and engineering work together to produce aesthetically pleasing products
that are also highly functional. This was different from many other similar companies that placed more
emphasis on the industrial design than the engineering. IDEO s strengths grew out of the ability to
master this ability with high tech clients. Corporations came to IDEO because they had a proven ...

In the past Palm projects design had been ignored in order to favor bells and whistles directed toward
male customers. This new Palm was to appeal to the customer on the emotional level as well as the
aesthetic level.
What may have been missing from the innovation formula at IDEO in 2000 was the philosophy of
customer experience. This is the way many corporate brands like Starbucks have been handled to be
an experience, not just a product. It is no longer sufficient to simply tell customers about the product
features or benefits. The brand must create a visceral connection with customers they have to
participate in the journey emotionally. Product development must be geared with the customer in mind
and the customer must be engaged more often in research.
The Handspring Visor project however, was more of a challenge for all team members, and the goal
was to shatter existing norms by further reducing the physical parameters of the product. It also
challenged accepted user interface protocol. This would challenge the team members at IDEO to fail
less often , so they would be able to succeed even sooner , but the real problems were the cost and
time limitations put on the project by Handspring. Would sacrificing steps in IDEO s development
process lead to an inferior product? The evidence would come later, but initially,

Introduction of the companies
Seagate Technology, Inc. is one of the world s largest manufacturers of computer disk drives and
related data storage devices with approximately $6.5 billion in annual revenues. In early November
1999, Luczo, president and CEO of Seagate considered a restructuring proposal with Silver Lake, a
successful private equity firm that is specified in technology business investing.
In May 1999, Seagate sold its Network Storage Management Group to VERITAS Software
Corporation, an independent manufacturer of storage management systems, for approximately 155
million shares of VERITAS stock. With an ownership ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This results in the cash portion of the purchase price available for payment to Seagate s stockholders
in connection with the merger to be approximately $1.285 billion (less the amount of rolled equity) .
While many of the implied equity values for Seagate s operating businesses summarized in the table
above exceeded the $2 billion purchase price in the leveraged buyout, Morgan Stanley arrived at its
opinion that the consideration to be received by holders of Seagate common stock in connection with
the merger was fair, from a financial point of view, to those holders, by considering all of its analyses
of the merger and the leveraged buyout, taken as a whole.
The passages show that Morgan Stanley fear value was $2 billion for the business operation. This
value is 43% lower than our valuation of $3.48 billion for the deal. The passages and the published
document are not clear why the fear value should be so low. This vague suggestion is more eccentric
when we look the valuation made by Morgan Stanley. It had made a valuation using different methods
such as comparable analysis, discount equity analysis, discount cash flow analysis, and sum of the
parts analysis, and different scenarios (Figure XXX). Based on the values that Morgan Stanley
calculated, we calculated a weighted average value for it. Using the same weighted for each of the

Positive Factors In The Tourism Industry In Thailand
Positive factors in the tourism of Thailand have been known as the hospitality, kindness of Thai
people, beautiful natures, and strong strategy of tourism industry by the government of Thailand.
Tourism industry in Thailand is a major component to the current economic foundations of the country
and is an important component of economic growth in the future. Risks that may be a threat to the
tourism industry in Thailand include the unrest that occurred in southern area, feelings of the people
about lack of political stability.
To increase the flow of foreign tourists, Thailand has been promoting the country as a sustainable
tourist destination (Henkel, et al., 2006). However, the number of the arrival tourists is not good
enough. Since 2006, the number of inbound tourists slightly increased from 13.82 to around 14

Currently, the land of smile and warm welcome seems to be perceived as a land of disharmony,
unfriendliness, and bloodshed (Horn, 2010).
Especially Bangkok, where is a capital of Thailand, is the center of many transportations, including
Suvarnabhumi International Airport. It is the place where most of the tourists coming to Thailand have
chosen to be the a place for their holiday. But the political crisis has lots of impacts and influences to
the tourists that they may harm them for their safety and security, so this may cause them changing to
other destinations instead.
Thailand has not only Bangkok as their main destination, but also it has another province where has
rich of culture and activities for the tourist.
With the rapid tourism growth, Thailand has various tourist attractions on offer for tourists through all
regions. One of the most crowded tourists preferences is Phuket

How Does George Orwell Use Propaganda In Animal Farm
Animal Farm, by George Orwell, is an allegoric novel based on the history of the Soviet Union and
the Russian Revolution (1917 to 1944) disguised as an animal fable. Orwell draws his audience into a
utopian, metaphorical history novel through his animal characters. Squealer represents intelligence
and education; Napoleon represents propaganda and duplicity; The dogs to represent violence and
terror as a means of control; and finally Boxer represents apathy and acceptance. Throughout each of
the characters stories, there are themes of the Soviet Union intertwined. The pigs represents
intelligence and education, particularly Squealer as he is able to manipulate others and control
information. The use of intelligence and education is a tool ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Importance Of Education In Public Education
Education in schools today is very important to a student s success. From reading a particular passage,
I read about a particular student who was denied as school valedictorian for the simple fact that she
was black. To fully understand what role integration plays, or should play in public education today,
there are some key components that one must understand. The first component addresses how much it
really matters to see that schools are pretty much segregated as they were in 1968. To my intellect, it s
colossally noteworthy. In case you think approximately the two principal purposes of open instruction,
it s to advance social portability so that a child, no matter the circumstances, can, through a great
instruction, go where their abilities would take them. The reason is to reinforce our popular
government by making cleverly and open minded citizens, and related to that, to construct social
cohesion. We are a country where individuals come from all corners of the world so it s imperative
that the open schools be a place where children learn what it implies to be an American, and learn the
values of a majority rule government, one of which is that we re all social. Isolation by race and by
financial status essentially undermines both of those goals. To my mind this issue of segregation,
which gets talked about very little, is central to undermining the twin rationales for public schooling in
the first place. The second component addresses race. Parents of children argue

Mental Health Treatment Of Mental Illnesses
Approximately 20% of all children show at least minimal impairment from a mental health illness
(Odar, C. o., Canter, K., Roberts, M. m. 2013). Around 31% of girls and 42% of boys between the
ages of 9 and 16 years old meet the criteria of at least one mental health illness (Costello, E. J.,
Mustillo, S., Erkanli, A., Keeler, G., Angold, A. 2003). Some of these illnesses may include
schizophrenia, bipolar disease, depression, etc. These illnesses may require continuous care and
treatment for many years and can be very costly. There are many problems when it comes to the
treatment of mental illnesses. Some of these problems are access, cost and funding, and the delivery of
care.
The first problem with mental health treatment is access. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cost of outpatient treatment is expensive. Most psychiatrists offices and hospitals require high
copayments and deductibles if the treatment is covered under the patient s insurance plan. But
according to a report done by the Center for Disease Control, people with serious mental illnesses are
less likely to have health insurance, so they would be required to pay even more money out of pocket
if they decide to receive treatment (Cohn, J. 2015). The funding required for treatment is also a big
issue. In the early 20th century, insurance companies did not cover mental health care at all.
Eventually, they started adding mental health coverage, and by the 1980s, managed care was
introduced and was lowering costs (Cohn, J. 2015). But patients were concerned that these lower
prices were compromising the quality of care.
The quality and delivery of care is another mental health problem in the healthcare system. Due to the
Mental Health Parity Act of 2008, insurers are required to provide the same coverage for both mental
health treatment and medical/surgical treatment (Burns, J 2014). This could cause insurers to limit the
length of stay for all patients in hospitals or residential care and could cause more readmissions to
occur. It could also cause all patients to receive insufficient treatment.
Implications
Having little access to treatment or care can affect both patients and providers. It makes it harder for
patients to receive

Firearms In The United States
Firearms should not be banned in the United States because it would deny people their rights, deny
citizens a form of self defense, prevent use for sports such as hunting and marksmanship, and give
exclusive firearm access to criminals. Many gun control activists out there think that guns need to be
banned completely from civilian use. While guns may need to be controlled a bit for public safety,
banning them would not help anything. The main reason reason this isn t something to be put into
legislation is because it s completely unconstitutional. The second amendment of the constitution
gives all citizens the individual right to bear firearms. In the Supreme Court case District of Columbia
v. Heller, Justice Antonin Scalia wrote in the majority ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Irony And The Paradoxes Of War By Wilfred Owen
Irony is an important literary device wherein what appears to be true is radically different from what
actually happens. Wilfred Owen has used this technique in many of his poems to effectively convey
the paradoxes of war. The use of irony isn t surprising as there was a stark difference between what the
soldiers were told about war and what actually happened during war and their experiences. Through
his irony in his poems, during the World War I, Owen expressed what so many people felt about the
war. As the war continued they realized that they were lied to and were misled by war propaganda, but
in reality the war was very brutal and different indeed. Wilfred Owen was one of the few poets who
unveiled the true colours of war and showed how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However ideally a young boy is supposed to be given an option to what he wants to become when he
grows up. Unfortunately these boys are forced to become soldier even though they aren t old enough.
The first line, which starts with an imperative word, Let the boy try along this bayonet blade
delineates this. Even though it seems that they get an option to try , they don t really have one. As try
would indicate that they could check to see if it is their cup to tea, however when they are given the
bayonet blade and sent to war there is no trial. You either survive the war or you die and hence the
term try is ironic as the war is inevitably enforced upon them. The subtle tone and euphemistic
language, which portrays a suggestion, is used to show that the boy is given weapons and emphasis
the cynicism present. In like manner the opening of the second stanza, Lend him to stroke these blind,
blunt bullet leads , elucidates that the speakers continues to give commands and is ironic as no boy
that is lent to war ever comes back home. Therefore you aren t lending them and rather giving them up
to war. The alliteration present in this line, which is, blind blunt bullet , emphasis the viciousness of
the weapons through the harsh pronunciation of the letter b . This depicts the fact that it is impossible
to get away from the thirst of the weapons as the bullets just kill blindly and death is assured when
you join the war, hence mocking the use of the words Lend him as you aren t going to get him

Functional Disorder
A functional disorder is when there is a medical abnormality that is present in the human body but
may not appear altered in structure. The disorders can be contributed by psychological factors such as
stress and anxiety because the illness tends to not have a detectable biological cause. From the
understanding that I have gain about this type of disorder is that it seems to be more based on
symptoms experienced by the people it affects. High blood pressure is a disorder that happen for a
long duration of time where blood is forced against artery walls and strains on heart muscles. There
are usually not many symptoms associated with this condition and the causes can vary. The second

such as environmental, habits in diet, genetic predisposition and age. Asthma is a condition where the
airways are swollen and extra mucus is produced which makes it difficult to breath. People would
asthma may experience shortness of breath and chest pain. Inhalers can assist in the treatment but
there is no cure present. Another chronic illness is Type 2 Diabetes which affects how the body
processes glucose, whether it is resisting the hormone insulin, or unable to produce an efficient
amount. Symptoms associated with this type of diabetes includes frequent urination, fatigue and vision
that is blurred. There are medications to treat the illness, but the disease is lifelong. Osteoporosis is an
aging condition in which bones are weak. Linked with this disorder is loss of height, stoop posture and
back pain. There are medication used to assist with this condition as well as healthy habits such as
calcium intake and exercise. Coronary artery disease occurs when there is plague build up in the

The Four Levels Of Stylistic Analysis
3. Four levels of stylistic analysis

In this poem phonological level consists of proper rhyme scheme pattern, alliteration, consonance and
repetition of similar sounds. There are two types of devices included in this level, one is sound devices
and the other one is literary devices. The poet uses musical devices to make his poetry a superior from
other.
Rhyme scheme:
In this poem the end rhyme scheme in the first couplet is aa . End rhyme scheme in the second couplet
is bb . In the third couplet is cc . In the fourth is dd . And in the fifth couplet is ee etc. This can be
observed with examples from the poem.
Care, stare

Light, night
Glance, dance
Can, began
Alliteration
Alliteration is called the same sound in the start of the words in a line. The sound of s in the start of
words makes a beautiful effect on readers.

British Airways And Ryanair And The Airline Industry
Introduction
In today s business world, Aviation industry is frequently developing rapidly in order to compete
among each other and survive in the larger markets leading to aggregate competition between low
cost/no frills carriers LCC and the more traditional full service carriers FSC (Hunter: 2006). Due to

those who compromises on comfort and fare conscious customers. For example: Students, low income

to become the world s leading global premium airline by making cost that is base more efficiently and

are to be the airline of choice for long haul premium customers, deliver and outstanding service for
customers at every touch point, grow their presence in key global cities, build on the leading position

Biological Differences that Exist Between Individuals in a Population
Physical anthropologists view humans as biological organisms. Coupled with genetics and
biochemistry, scientists can form a more complete picture of human anatomy, both past and present.
Physical anthropology looks at human variation and evolution. Variation looks at the biological
differences that exist between individuals within a population and at individuals between populations
(e.g., body shape, size, and physiological responses). These differences in human biology are
measured using a technique called anthropometry 1. In order to explain this diversity, physical
anthropologists look to environmental conditions (including culture) and genetics. Taking these ...

Melanin is a dark compound that is called a photoprotective pigment. The major role of melanin
pigment in the skin is to absorb the ultraviolet (UV) light that comes from the sun so that the skin is
not damaged. Sun exposure normally produces a tan, which is an increase in melanin pigment in the
skin. Many people with albinism do not have melanin pigment in their skin and do not tan with
exposure to the sun. As a result, their skin is sensitive to the sunlight and they develop sunburn. In
people with albinism, all other parts of the skin are normal even if there is no melanin in the skin.
Melanin pigment is important in other areas of the body, such as the eye and the brain, but it is not
known what the melanin pigment does in these areas. Melanin pigment is present in the retina and the
area of the retina called the fovea does not develop correctly if melanin pigment in not present in the
retina during development. The other areas of the retina develop normally whether or not melanin
pigment is present. The nerve connections between the retina and the brain are also altered if melanin
pigment is not present in the retina during development. The iris has melanin pigment and this makes
the iris opaque to light (no light goes through an opaque iris). Iris pigment in albinism is reduced, and
the iris is translucent to light, but the iris develops and functions normally in albinism.
Melanin forms in a special cell called the melanocyte. This cell is

Aspects Of Ell Education And Student Achievement
There are many aspects of ELL education to be explored. In order to effectively inform policy on ELL
education, one must consider what affects student achievement, how to keep education adequate and
equitable with the inclusion of ELLs, and how ELL education affects funding of schools. These
topical areas of research, while not exhaustive, are helpful in framing the larger topic of this paper: if
varying numbers of ELLs affect the state mechanism for funding ELL education.
ELL Education and Student Achievement
One of the first questions one must consider when dealing with ELL acquisition is what differences
affect student achievement. In ELL education, there is a great amount of variation within the different
approaches to teaching ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other aspects of program implementation were not significant to ELL students but affected non ELL
students scores. Overall, they found that states placing more of an emphasis on bilingual education
had ELLs scoring higher in reading tests.
While their study is helpful in understanding how state emphasis on ELL education makes a
difference, one shortcoming of their study is that while they do have a limited categorical model for
how they determined state emphasis it only surveys eight states in their analysis. Furthermore, while
they survey the historical development of ELL programs nationally, it fails to explain why some states
place more emphasis (through more tailored programs) on ELL education. This last failing
demonstrates the need for a study demonstrating the link between ELLs and policy.
Adequacy and Equity of ELL Education
ELL education is important when considering the adequacy and equity of education for ELLs and non
ELLs alike. Ramirez et al. studied the adequacy and equity of funding ELLs in Colorado through
categorical funding in the English Language Proficiency Act (ELPA) and determined the effect of ELL
enrollment in conjunction with the ELPA program on school districts. He found that in Colorado,

The Impact Of Feminism In Crimminism
Women have always played a significant role within a societal context to include wars and politics.
However after decades of fighting for equality, society still has not found itself comfortable with
adjusting to the roles and capabilities of a woman. For centuries men have been seen as the dominate
species, thus emerging a fine line amongst gender roles. This process of thought is something that can
often be depicted amongst criminologist, being that a bulk of society studies by scientist and theorist
alike are conducted solely on males. Thus, neglecting the capabilities or undermining the involvement
of women in crime. As a result of this sexist viewpoint, most individuals conduct their study groups on
men and not women; however some individuals modestly include women from time to time.
Furthermore, the omission of women from criminal studies often gives us a false truth to a theory.
This is because we neglect women based on their physiological nature and not the physical state of the
study. Nevertheless, we are unable to truly understand the impact of feminism within criminology
unless we are able to examine the liberal feminist, Marxist feminist, and the radical feminists.
According to Merriam Webster, feminism is defined as the theory of the political, economic, and
social equality of the sexes or an organized activity on the behalf of women s rights and interest
(Merriam Webster, 2017). Therefore, liberal feminist is the emphasis on women obtaining legal and

The Pay For Performance Plan
Abstract
The pay for performance plan has been implemented in many organizations as a motivational strategy
for workers. However, the plan remains a hard sell in public schools where teachers have deliberately
turned down its implementation. Although the incentive program boosts individual performance, it
undermines the effort of other staff members since; there is no universally accepted criterion that is
used to gauge teachers performance apart from student test scores. Apparently, the lack of
incorporation of teachers in formulating the incentive plan is assumed to contribute to its failure.
Survey findings show that teachers need non cash incentives such as promotions.
Pay for Performance Remains Controversial in Public Schools
Introduction
Pay for performance has become acceptable to many organizations; however, it remains a hard sell in
public school systems where teachers need to be paid based on the student s test scores. For instance,
in Minnesota, 60% of all pay increases are anchored in performance rather than the automatic rise in
seniority. Similarly, Denver designed an incentive program that awards teachers with bonuses for
excellent student performances and for receiving national teaching certificates. The idea of ensuring
that more effective teachers are paid more than less effective teachers has been received

Killer Angels Questions And Answers
Kathryn Austin US Dual 12/8/16 Killer Angels Questions 6. According to the novel, what role does
the issue of slavery play as to the purpose of the war in general and this battle in specific? In the
novel, the main reason why fighting is occurring is not because of slavery, but rather to preserve the
Union or allow state power to be superior over Federal law. Also, most of the men fighting in the
Confederate army were not wealthy enough for slaves. General Lee even freed his slaves in the
beginning of the war, he saw that the war was not about slavery but about the importance of state
power. The only General who had strong feelings about slavery was Chamberlain. The Union General,
Chamberlain, fought solely so that African Americans and whites would be treated equal. He believed
that all should be able to enjoy the same freedoms as him. 8. Was Freemantle (the Englishman) an

Longstreet and Lee know that the British will never side with the Confederates because of their

Truman Doctrine Essay
Truman had no foreign policy experience but now as the Commander and Chief he was faced with
ending the war. During his first six months in office Truman announced the surrender of the Nazi
Germans. After their surrender the United Nations Charter was signed. The United Nations Charter
was the treaty between the Allies and the Nazi Germans. Truman still had one other problem to deal
with and that was the possibility of an attack by the Japanese.
Truman approved of the dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki which forced the
Japanese to also surrender. The bombing and the signing of the United Nations Charter marked the
end of WWII. After the war a new problem fell onto the president. The Soviet Union was breaking
down but there was still a war looming.
The cold war started in 1946 and lasted until 1991. In an attempt to fight communist rule Truman

Smetana s Moldau is a musical portrayal of the main river which runs through the countryside of
Bohemia (present day Czech Republic).
The piece begins with a sweet one bar theme that is played by two solo flutes, representing the trickle
of a small creek. The soft melody played in piano and lusingando , which means to be played in a
coaxing style, convey the delicate and smoothness of the water. The ascending semi quavers
accompanied with a slight crescendo at the beginning of the phrase as well as a two quaver rests at the
end of the bar create a rippling effect, symbolising the slight waves of a stream. Furthermore, the lone

The polyphonic texture consists of two major layers and the randomly placed pizzicato chords which
are a reminder of water s unpredictable motions.
Bar 16 (flutes, clarinets, strings polyphonic texture)
The two small rivers that make up the larger Moldau meets at bar 28 where the clarinets stop for a bar
and the violas begin their melody. This short bar acts as a bridge, the connection where the bodies of
water finally merge to create a great river. The bigger river in bar 29 is conveyed by the three different
layers, flutes, clarinets, and violas. Continuous semi quavers that rise and fall in pitch still represent
the fluidity and continuity of the water but now the extra layer means that the river is wilder with
bigger waves and other movements. Bar 28 (melodies played by flutes and strings) Bar 29 30 (flutes,
clarinets, viola)
Bar 36 sees even more layers as the strings begin to play the flowing melody of the river. The start of
the larger body of water is indicated by a strong perfect cadence by the lower strings (bar 36). At the
widest point of the river, bar 40, the whole orchestra plays. All the instruments playing together
expresses the notion that this is the climax of the river and it is wildest at this point. The wind
instruments, however, play a slower melody of

At the beginning of the episode when people are warned that there will be a hurricane, everyone turns
on each other by stealing, fighting and breaking things, for their own personal wealth, not worrying
about anyone else, the creators of the show purposefully exaggerate, this is in reference to what would
happen in anarchy, or post apocalyptic events, movies such as, The Purge, Mad Max 2 and I am
Legend cover this topic in more depth. Later in the episode, Ned Flanders asks, why did the hurricane
destroy only my house, I donate to 8 different churches and follow everything the bible says. This is
making fun of how much he heavily relies on the several churches to bring him security and wealth,
this pokes fun at the people in society think that giving to a church or several different churches will
grant them safety or wealth. Another satirical moment was in Ned Flanders flashback to when he was
young, when his parents couldn t control him, because they didn t believe in rules, they went to a
doctor and told him, we ve tried nothing and we re all out of ideas. The creators of the show are
making fun of the parents that don t discipline their kids.

Public Health Leadership And Management

Public Health Leadership and Management
POPH90218
In relation to being required to improve the poor performance of a team of 40 staff working on a HIV
project in a developing country identify key leadership and management challenges and solutions, and
provide reasons/evidence to support the efficacy of your suggestions.
Introduction:
Regardless of context, positions of leadership and management inevitably come with their share of
challenges. In this essay I will examine the challenges of being appointed to improve the poor
performance of a team of forty staff working on a HIV project in a developing country. Following the
identification of each challenge I will present a series of effective, evidence based solutions.
Leadership will be defined as a process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and
support of others in the accomplishment of a common task (Chemers, 1997) and management will be
defined as the process of working with and through other people to accomplish the objectives of both
the organization and its members (Montana and Charnox, 2008)
It is important to recognise that public health problems are complex and can be vast in magnitude. By
nature health affects all populations, and therefore health leadership and management must consider
chain reactions into economic and social problems, as well as direct health outcomes.
Due to the enormity and complexity of public health leadership and management, this essay aims

Themes In Imagining Argentina
Imagining Argentina is a novel written by Lawrence Thornton, which is set in the era of the late 1970s
of Argentina, during the dirty war. The dirty war came into effect when a military junta had taken
power by force, shortly after the former president was removed. The main cause of the dirty war was
to suppress the people of Argentina who are on the side of left wing politically. Anyone suspected or
even related to the side of left wing would have a green falcon visit their home or wherever they are,
and will be kidnapped and tortured, becoming known to the people as the disappeared . Although
thousands of Argentinians have disappeared through the years of the dirty war, their identity has not
disappeared, through the power a name holds. Carlos Rueda, the protagonist, believes names to be
much more than just a name. A name holds a person s uniqueness; their personality; their identity; and
their story. Carlos is gifted with an imagination, which can predict the fate of the disappeared through
the power these names hold. Although identity is a key theme, the overall message revolves around
imagination. Throughout Imagining Argentina the use of imagination is always present. Thornton
provides a powerful message which is imagination being our strongest tool; our reality. Imagination
helps us through times of desperation and despair. The human mind is stronger than any physical
force. Our power to imagine helps us stay strong, it helps us identify as humans. Imagination

The Case Of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
When there is a problem in ones life whether that be the country, at their job, or within their own
families everyone s first instinct is what can be done to fix it. An intervention is an action taken to
improve a situation. As defined by Public Health 101: Health People Healthy Populations, an
intervention is defined as the full range of strategies designed to protect health and prevent disease,
disability and death. Thus, high quality evidence needs to be based on the research, which can
establish efficacy in one particular population, but also on the effectiveness of the intervention in the
specific population. (Riegelman and Kirkwood, 2015). For many public health issues interventions
play a crucial role in getting such issues under control. In the case of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
(SIDS) in Native American populations infants were ranked second highest in SIDS deaths in the U.S.
at 8.7 per 1000 live births (Alexander, Wingate Boulet, 2008, p. 5). The cause of SIDS is unknown at
the moment but there are a multitude of ways parents can help prevent and reduce the risk of their
child dying from SIDS.
Intervention I: SIDS Prevention through the Back to Sleep Campaign
The major risk factor of SIDS is recognized to be prone sleeping. The Back to Sleep (BTS) campaign
was brought on when research found that parents and caregivers were wrongly informed that their
children were safer and at lower risk for SIDS if they were placed in the prone sleeping position.

Education And Its Influence On American Education
Graduate Education today shows traces of its European ancestors. The influences range from Greece,
Egypt, Italy, Spain, and many others. American education has evolved and manifested throughout the
thousands of years of its existence. We can directly trace the roots back to our European ancestors,
with the education that exists today in America.
Higher education s journey began in Greece in 387 BC by Plato. The only thing offered at this first
educational establishment was an advanced study in philosophy. From this basis, more higher
education facilities began to be erected, from 387 BC to the 17th century .The ancestors of graduate
education were constructed throughout Palestine, Babylonia, Indian, China and Korea. Most systems
either taught religious aspects or philosophy. Like today, many higher education schools are still
religious based, even though they offer numerous amounts of studies, they are still based around
religion studies and incorporate it into every line of study at the university.
Higher education in America today offers many concentrations of study, but each university has a
specific concentration subject that they are known for, such as, liberal arts, education, medical,
engineering, etc. This influence on education did not begin until Medieval times. Medieval
universities had main areas of study at each facility, some offered liberal studies, while others were
focused on music, astronomy, geometry and mathematics. Professional studies included law,

The Walking Dead Essay
Imagine waking up to the zombie apocalypse. How d you feel? Would you be scared, thrilled,
confused, shocked? A mixture of them all perhaps? What would you do? Would you hide? Would you
fight back? Would you even survive?
One might not have the answers to such questions ready at hand. Most people have probably never
thought about it. But if you stood in a situation, where your life was at risk and everyone you loved
dearly might die, how d you react and how d you feel?
In The Walking Dead, all the characters have gone through exactly this. They ve all experienced the
shock, loss, confusion, despair, hopelessness, etc. They can all relate to these feelings and thoughts,
which makes them all connected in some degree. In episode one of The Walking Dead, Rick
represents humanity how every surviving human felt at the beginning, their thoughts and feelings, and
what they needed to become to survive. Basically, he represents the overall character development of
every person in TWD:
At the beginning, Rick is very confused. He doesn t know what s going on, and is horrified when he

The Impact of Technology
Computers, laptops, cellphones, and eventually artificial intelligence? Technology has sure been
advancing rapidly, and will continue to advance for years to come. Think about all of the tasks that
once required a trip to the library that can now easily be done with a computer. Google s search
engine, for instance, significantly simplifies research you simply enter what you want, and the engine
spews out the relevant information. But the harmful effects are plentiful as well. Nicholas Carr
addresses popular concerns in Is Google Making Us Stupid, arguing that technology is molding the
human brain into an efficiency prioritizing machine, one less flexible, less artistic than the human
mind. Although technology inspires artists and informs authors, it is mostly making people stupid, for
it encourages a skimming mentality and cultivates impatience.
Before revealing technology s harmful effects, it is important to address its benefits. Proponents of
technology argue of its importance in artistic inspiration. For instance, websites like Soundcloud,
Youtube, and deviantArt allow users to share accomplishments, and many young artists are guided by
the social media of successful artists. While it is true that the internet inspires artists, it is equally true
that it limits them creatively. Commercialism creeps throughout the internet community music, art,

Sarah, on the other hand, is an interpreter of the Lords will.
Sarah comes to the conclusion that she is doing the Lords will when she declared the new maxim for

The sense that she is a new spirit is implied when she states, I ve let the fire go out (528). Even though

Employees over the age of 40 are protected under law from discrimination under the Age
Discrimination and Employment Act of 967 (ADEA). However, that does not change the beliefs of
some organizations that employees over the age of 40 are not as beneficial or productive as those
younger than the age of 40. Communication skills are important to any organization and employees
are expected to be professional and be able to express their ideas and opinions in that manner. Good
communication skills are not limited to one area, to be an effective communicator you must be a good
listener, be able to read body language as well as express your ideas verbally and in written form.
Employees older the age of 40, have not grown up with the technology that we have today and have
relied more on hand written, typed, face to face and verbal communication in a way much different
than today. Because staff members over the age of 40 have spent their careers in a more formal work

The Pros And Cons Of Minority Voting
Jacob Frazer
Louis DeSipio
Pol Sci 61A
20 November 2017
There are many difficulties minorities face when trying to take an active part in society, specifically
voting. Since the Voting Rights Act of 1965 passed there have been many changes to the law to break
the barriers between the minorities and non Hispanic whites, but there are still factors that discourage
minority voters. Thesis: There are various factors widening the minority voting gap including voter
identification, early voter registration requirements, and strict voting procedures. Some internal factors
also include family voter participation and voting education.
The first factor that leads to the widening of the minority gap is the requirement of voter
identification. Since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The best way to fix this problem is to stop requiring photo ID at the polling booths which would allow
anyone to go vote. There are ways to identify voter fraud instead of requiring a photo ID.
Another major factor that hinders minority voters is early voter registration requirements. This means
that if a voter wasn t registered to vote weeks or even months before an election, so if one were to go
to vote and haven t registered, they would be turned away. Minorities are less likely to be registered
and are unable to participate in elections if they develop interest in the weeks immediately before the
election. People who move regularly (which disproportionately includes young adults and people who
rent rather than own their own homes) are also more likely to fall out of registration by failing to
reregister at their new address. (Shaw et. al. 2015: 281) By requiring registration weeks in advance,
many voters won t be able to vote and have their voices heard. Another way institutions suppress
minority voters is by maintaining the voter registration lists and purging nonparticipating voters. There
is little to no regulation on how long it takes to be purged from the list, so those who voted only every
four years only during the presidential election the list could have been purged the third year without
voting, which would take them off the list and they would have to

It is by no means uncommon for leaders to make considerable changes in themselves, in policy, or in staffing to make a statement, but it seems Yong Le was particularly concerned with his credibility. He left no stone unturned in ensuring that his people would respect him as a powerful ruler. As if moving the capitol back to Beijing wasn t enough to convince them, he forged a new identity for himself. To me, that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ideo Case Study Case Study Analysis: IDEO Product Development The business model for IDEO began as an open minded place to design, develop and manufacture new products. The last 20 years of proven product design driven by innovation has translated into profit margins for their clients and continuous refinement for IDEO s process. IDEO pioneered concurrent engineering where design and engineering work together to produce aesthetically pleasing products that are also highly functional. This was different from many other similar companies that placed more emphasis on the industrial design than the engineering. IDEO s strengths grew out of the ability to master this ability with high tech clients. Corporations came to IDEO because they had a proven ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the past Palm projects design had been ignored in order to favor bells and whistles directed toward male customers. This new Palm was to appeal to the customer on the emotional level as well as the aesthetic level. What may have been missing from the innovation formula at IDEO in 2000 was the philosophy of customer experience. This is the way many corporate brands like Starbucks have been handled to be an experience, not just a product. It is no longer sufficient to simply tell customers about the product features or benefits. The brand must create a visceral connection with customers they have to participate in the journey emotionally. Product development must be geared with the customer in mind and the customer must be engaged more often in research. The Handspring Visor project however, was more of a challenge for all team members, and the goal was to shatter existing norms by further reducing the physical parameters of the product. • 7. The Importance Of Education In Public Education Education in schools today is very important to a student s success. From reading a particular passage, I read about a particular student who was denied as school valedictorian for the simple fact that she was black. To fully understand what role integration plays, or should play in public education today, there are some key components that one must understand. The first component addresses how much it really matters to see that schools are pretty much segregated as they were in 1968. To my intellect, it s colossally noteworthy. In case you think approximately the two principal purposes of open instruction, it s to advance social portability so that a child, no matter the circumstances, can, through a great instruction, go where their abilities would take them. The reason is to reinforce our popular government by making cleverly and open minded citizens, and related to that, to construct social cohesion. We are a country where individuals come from all corners of the world so it s imperative that the open schools be a place where children learn what it implies to be an American, and learn the values of a majority rule government, one of which is that we re all social. Isolation by race and by financial status essentially undermines both of those goals. To my mind this issue of segregation, which gets talked about very little, is central to undermining the twin rationales for public schooling in the first place. The second component addresses race. Some of these illnesses may include schizophrenia, bipolar disease, depression, etc. These illnesses may require continuous care and treatment for many years and can be very costly. There are many problems when it comes to the treatment of mental illnesses. Some of these problems are access, cost and funding, and the delivery of care. The first problem with mental health treatment is access. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cost of outpatient treatment is expensive. Most psychiatrists offices and hospitals require high copayments and deductibles if the treatment is covered under the patient s insurance plan. But according to a report done by the Center for Disease Control, people with serious mental illnesses are less likely to have health insurance, so they would be required to pay even more money out of pocket if they decide to receive treatment (Cohn, J. 2015). The funding required for treatment is also a big issue. In the early 20th century, insurance companies did not cover mental health care at all. Eventually, they started adding mental health coverage, and by the 1980s, managed care was introduced and was lowering costs (Cohn, J. 2015). But patients were concerned that these lower prices were compromising the quality of care. The quality and delivery of care is another mental health problem in the healthcare system. Due to the Mental Health Parity Act of 2008, insurers are required to provide the same coverage for both mental health treatment and medical/surgical treatment (Burns, J 2014). This could cause insurers to limit the length of stay for all patients in hospitals or residential care and could cause more readmissions to occur. It could also cause all patients to receive insufficient treatment. Implications Having little access to treatment or care can affect both patients and providers. Wilfred Owen has used this technique in many of his poems to effectively convey the paradoxes of war. The use of irony isn t surprising as there was a stark difference between what the soldiers were told about war and what actually happened during war and their experiences. Through his irony in his poems, during the World War I, Owen expressed what so many people felt about the war. However ideally a young boy is supposed to be given an option to what he wants to become when he grows up. Unfortunately these boys are forced to become soldier even though they aren t old enough. The first line, which starts with an imperative word, Let the boy try along this bayonet blade delineates this. Even though it seems that they get an option to try , they don t really have one. As try would indicate that they could check to see if it is their cup to tea, however when they are given the bayonet blade and sent to war there is no trial. You either survive the war or you die and hence the term try is ironic as the war is inevitably enforced upon them. The subtle tone and euphemistic language, which portrays a suggestion, is used to show that the boy is given weapons and emphasis the cynicism present. In like manner the opening of the second stanza, Lend him to stroke these blind, blunt bullet leads , elucidates that the speakers continues to give commands and is ironic as no boy that is lent to war ever comes back home. Therefore you aren t lending them and rather giving them up to war. The alliteration present in this line, which is, blind blunt bullet , emphasis the viciousness of the weapons through the harsh pronunciation of the letter b . However after decades of fighting for equality, society still has not found itself comfortable with adjusting to the roles and capabilities of a woman. For centuries men have been seen as the dominate species, thus emerging a fine line amongst gender roles. This process of thought is something that can often be depicted amongst criminologist, being that a bulk of society studies by scientist and theorist alike are conducted solely on males. Thus, neglecting the capabilities or undermining the involvement of women in crime. As a result of this sexist viewpoint, most individuals conduct their study groups on men and not women; however some individuals modestly include women from time to time. Furthermore, the omission of women from criminal studies often gives us a false truth to a theory. This is because we neglect women based on their physiological nature and not the physical state of the study. • 26. The Moldau Essay Connie Ju | [The Moldau] Smetana | Year 11 Music 2 Musicology Essay | | Smetana s Moldau is a musical portrayal of the main river which runs through the countryside of Bohemia (present day Czech Republic). The piece begins with a sweet one bar theme that is played by two solo flutes, representing the trickle of a small creek. The soft melody played in piano and lusingando , which means to be played in a coaxing style, convey the delicate and smoothness of the water. The ascending semi quavers accompanied with a slight crescendo at the beginning of the phrase as well as a two quaver rests at the end of the bar create a rippling effect, symbolising the slight waves of a stream. The polyphonic texture consists of two major layers and the randomly placed pizzicato chords which are a reminder of water s unpredictable motions. Bar 16 (flutes, clarinets, strings polyphonic texture) The two small rivers that make up the larger Moldau meets at bar 28 where the clarinets stop for a bar and the violas begin their melody. This short bar acts as a bridge, the connection where the bodies of water finally merge to create a great river. The bigger river in bar 29 is conveyed by the three different layers, flutes, clarinets, and violas. Continuous semi quavers that rise and fall in pitch still represent the fluidity and continuity of the water but now the extra layer means that the river is wilder with bigger waves and other movements. Bar 28 (melodies played by flutes and strings) Bar 29 30 (flutes, clarinets, viola) Bar 36 sees even more layers as the strings begin to play the flowing melody of the river. The start of the larger body of water is indicated by a strong perfect cadence by the lower strings (bar 36). At the widest point of the river, bar 40, the whole orchestra plays. All the instruments playing together expresses the notion that this is the climax of the river and it is wildest at this point. The wind instruments, however, play a slower melody of ... At the beginning of the episode when people are warned that there will be a hurricane, everyone turns on each other by stealing, fighting and breaking things, for their own personal wealth, not worrying about anyone else, the creators of the show purposefully exaggerate, this is in reference to what would happen in anarchy, or post apocalyptic events, movies such as, The Purge, Mad Max 2 and I am Legend cover this topic in more depth. Later in the episode, Ned Flanders asks, why did the hurricane destroy only my house, I donate to 8 different churches and follow everything the bible says. This is making fun of how much he heavily relies on the several churches to bring him security and wealth, this pokes fun at the people in society think that giving to a church or several different churches will grant them safety or wealth. Another satirical moment was in Ned Flanders flashback to when he was young, when his parents couldn t control him, because they didn t believe in rules, they went to a doctor and told him, we ve tried nothing and we re all out of ideas. Introduction: Regardless of context, positions of leadership and management inevitably come with their share of challenges. In this essay I will examine the challenges of being appointed to improve the poor performance of a team of forty staff working on a HIV project in a developing country. Following the identification of each challenge I will present a series of effective, evidence based solutions. Leadership will be defined as a process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task (Chemers, 1997) and management will be defined as the process of working with and through other people to accomplish the objectives of both the organization and its members (Montana and Charnox, 2008) It is important to recognise that public health problems are complex and can be vast in magnitude. By nature health affects all populations, and therefore health leadership and management must consider chain reactions into economic and social problems, as well as direct health outcomes. Due to the enormity and complexity of public health leadership and management, this essay aims ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Themes In Imagining Argentina Imagining Argentina is a novel written by Lawrence Thornton, which is set in the era of the late 1970s of Argentina, during the dirty war. The dirty war came into effect when a military junta had taken power by force, shortly after the former president was removed. The main cause of the dirty war was to suppress the people of Argentina who are on the side of left wing politically. Anyone suspected or even related to the side of left wing would have a green falcon visit their home or wherever they are, and will be kidnapped and tortured, becoming known to the people as the disappeared . Although thousands of Argentinians have disappeared through the years of the dirty war, their identity has not disappeared, through the power a name holds. Carlos Rueda, the protagonist, believes names to be much more than just a name. A name holds a person s uniqueness; their personality; their identity; and their story. Carlos is gifted with an imagination, which can predict the fate of the disappeared through the power these names hold. Although identity is a key theme, the overall message revolves around imagination. Throughout Imagining Argentina the use of imagination is always present. Thornton provides a powerful message which is imagination being our strongest tool; our reality. Imagination helps us through times of desperation and despair. The human mind is stronger than any physical force. Our power to imagine helps us stay strong, it helps us identify as humans. Imagination ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The best way to fix this problem is to stop requiring photo ID at the polling booths which would allow anyone to go vote. There are ways to identify voter fraud instead of requiring a photo ID. Another major factor that hinders minority voters is early voter registration requirements. This means that if a voter wasn t registered to vote weeks or even months before an election, so if one were to go to vote and haven t registered, they would be turned away. Minorities are less likely to be registered and are unable to participate in elections if they develop interest in the weeks immediately before the election. People who move regularly (which disproportionately includes young adults and people who rent rather than own their own homes) are also more likely to fall out of registration by failing to reregister at their new address. (Shaw et. al. 2015: 281) By requiring registration weeks in advance, many voters won t be able to vote and have their voices heard. Another way institutions suppress minority voters is by maintaining the voter registration lists and purging nonparticipating voters. There is little to no regulation on how long it takes to be purged from the list, so those who voted only every four years only during the presidential election the list could have been purged the third year without voting, which would take them off the list and they would have to ...
