Character Analysis Of The Mad Hatter In Alice In Wonderland
Introduction:
In Disney s Alice in Wonderland, a twenty year old girl named Alice Kingsley experiences very
strange dreams ever since she was a child. She dreams of a smiling cat, a white rabbit in a waistcoat, a
blue caterpillar and much more unusual things. At her surprise engagement party, Alice was walking
in the garden when she noticed something strange. To her surprise, she saw a white rabbit in a
waistcoat that looked exactly like the one in her dreams. Suddenly, Alice becomes overwhelmed at the
sudden proposal and was distracted by the white rabbit continuously pointing to his pocket watch.
Alice followed the rabbit and tumbled down a dark hole after him. Alice finds herself in a familiar
place called Underland along with many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a relatively new diagnosis in the personality disorder literature, and there is very little written
on its psychodynamics (Perry, Presniak, Olson, 2013). According to the DMS V, the criteria for
Schizotypal Personality Disorder includes the following: A.) (1.) ideas of reference (excluding
delusions of reference), (2.) odd belief or magical thinking that influences behavior and is inconsistent
with subcultural norms (e.g., superstitiousness, belief in clairvoyance, telepathy, or sixth sense ; in
children and adolescents, bizarre fantasies or preoccupations), (3.) unusual perceptual experiences,
including bodily illusions, (4.) odd thinking and speech (e.g., vague, circumstantial, metaphorical,
overelaborate, or stereotyped), (5.) suspiciousness or paranoid ideation, (6.) inappropriate or
constricted affect, (7.) behavior or appearance that is odd, eccentric, or particular, (8.) lack of close
friends or confidants other than first degree relatives, (9.) excessive social anxiety that does not
diminish with familiarity and tends to be associated with paranoid fears rather than negative
judgments about self (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). From the following criteria, the Mad
Hatter suffers from odd thinking and speech,

Slavery vs. Indentured Servitude
Slavery. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, it is the condition in which one human being was
owned by another. A slave was considered by law as property, and was deprived of the rights held by
free people. Slavery was viewed as a way that undeveloped people, such as Black African men and
women, could receive the physical and moral discipline and training necessary to attain civilized
virtues.
In Colonial America, slaves aged up to 12 were generally considered to be children , and those
between 12 and 18 to be youths. Such definitions were important when considering the treatment of
slave children. In western ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children brought from West Africa were forcibly captured, kidnapped or tricked into slavery, although
some were sold by relatives, and re sold to merchants on the coast.
Recent research shows that slave produced commodities, especially sugar, coffee, tobacco, and cotton
helped create a mass consumer market in the metropolitan.
In early American history, labor migration from Europe is identified with the phenomenon of
indentured servitude. Indentured servitude was an early solution to the shortage of labor in many parts
of the English colonies. It became a central institution in the economy in many parts of colonial
British America. In the Southern colonies, indentured servants furnished most of the labor until
slavery began to take over.
Indentured servitude was a contract committing one party to make a series of payments to or on behalf
of the other. The payments included the settlement of transportation to the colonies, room and board
over the contractual term, and final payment in kind or, less usually, cash at the conclusion of the term.
In exchange the servant agreed to be completely at the disposal of the payor, to work for an agreed
upon term agreed, usually four to seven years.
From the master s point of view, indentured servitude was to supply labor. For prospective servants, it
was to provide individuals, who were without economic resources, transportation to the New World
and the hope that serving a master for a specified

The Challenges Of Philip II And Elizabeth I
Philip II and Elizabeth I are two of the most important figures during the 16th century. Philip played a
major role in Spain once his father (Charles V) stepped down while Elizabeth was a key figure in
England as she ruled and showed her feminism. Both figures had a rough path to lead as the subjects
were always a problem. To understand Philip carefully, the full history of his reign is crucial when
looking at Spain. Challenges were already given to him from his father and Philip had to learn fast. On
the other hand, Elizabeth had a rough childhood and she had to win over her subjects. Through critical
examination of primary sources, strategic characteristics will be presented while under what influence
they were in throughout their reign. Therefore, the opposite backgrounds to the throne, resistance from
subjects, and different strategies ultimately led these two together through war. Charles V stepped
down in 1556 and Philip II took over when he was young. Already, Philip was getting praise from
people in the administration. He had the characteristics of listening to advisors while still showing that
he was informed in the topic of discussion. Ambassador Suriano even said that in the king s eyes no
nation is superior to the Spaniards. It is among them that he lives, it is they that he consults, and it is
they that direct his policy; in all this he is acting quite contrary to the habit of his father. Philip is
different from his father because he

The Love Song Of J Alfred Prufrock Essay
T.S Eliot wrote his poems in the modernist manner and was one of twentieth century major poets. His
famous works indicate the distortion of human society and also on the individual level and are
critically acclaimed over the world. This essay will discuss the comparison of the theme of human
society as a waste land in two of Eliot s famous works, The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock and
Preludes . Although both the poem discusses the theme of human society as a waste land, the way in
which Eliot portrays the theme differs in the poems. The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock subtly
implies the ideas of the aftermath of World War I and uses a single point of view that of Prufrock s to
indicate human society as a waste land. However, in Preludes ... Show more content on

These different views portray the idle ad infertile state of human society. Stanza I begin with the
description of a cold winter evening and the routine scenario such as burnt out ends of smoky days
(line 4), the grimy scrapes (line 6), withered leaves (line 7), newspapers from vacant lots (line 8),
through a third person omniscient point of view. All these description of the day and the street tells of
something that is dark, uncheerful and even still. These lines suggest the mundane scenario of a
society that has lost all its charms and liveliness. Then the point of view shifts to the second person
You . The third stanza gives a picture of a person who waits for someone else to come to a lonely bed
with hopes of something unreal. This has the suggestions to human lives where people wait for things
to become better and in the hope lose grip of their own lives. The lines 33 34, you have such a vision
of the street as the street hardly understands gives the reader the picture that the person on the bed
dreamt of the street of the street as it actually never will be, implying to hopes the human, as an
individual, has of how the society should be. Not cold, distorted and dead but lively, closely knit and
warm with emotions. It indirectly shows of how distorted human society had become as an effect of
the damage humans inflict on each other thus making the society a waste land. The

Symbolism In The Tell Tale Heart And The Tell Tale Heart
How does the symbolism affect the meaning of a written piece, does it make it more or less important?
Symbolism is used to represent ideas; that may imply deeper, hidden meaning than what the text
directly states. Symbolism can be used in different ways throughout different books; for example, The
Tell Tale Heart , by Edgar Allen Poe and Once upon a Time , by Nadine Gordimer, contain a variety of
symbolism that have the possibility of having two or more meanings. The problem with this is
identifying what the text could really mean, and how that changes the story. How does comparing the
use of symbolism in both stories and showing the difference in the stories direct text and length, with
and without the implied symbolism, answer the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He has the old man murdered in his personal bedroom in his bed as the killer s weapon. Symbolism in
this work of literature is highly important; without it the story would be a slightly confusing, shown in
the ending of the story when the murder hears the heartbeat, getting louder and louder, but nobody
else can hear it and then admits his guilt attempting to stop the sound, metaphorically saying that the
guilt (represented by the heart) he carried with him after murdering the old man grew and grew as if it
was going to burst out of him, leading him to confess so his subconscious (also represented by the
heart ) would be put at ease. Evident by the following quote, Villains! I shrieked , dissemble no more!I
admit the deed! tear up the planks! here, here! It is the beating of his hideous heart! . Without the use
of symbolism in these quotes, the meaning of the quotes and the rest of the piece would mean
something completely different; Similar to what would happen in, Once Upon a Time by Nadine
Gordimer, if you took out the symbolic pieces and read it specifically as it was written. Like in Poe s
previously stated piece, Once Upon a Time , by Nadine Gordimer is mostly made up of symbolism
due to the fact that the story takes place

Prospects For The Us Economy
Prospects for the US economy in 2016 November 6, 2015 The US economy is likely to grow by 2.7%
in 2016, but developments abroad pose risks Despite the recent softness in high frequency data, the
economy is close to full employment and growth is likely to average 2.4% in 2015. It should
accelerate slightly in 2016, as the buoyant labour market will boost private consumption, offsetting
some of the weakness in the industrial and trade sectors. Federal Reserve (Fed) officials have
highlighted the external headwinds posed to the US economy by slowing growth in emerging
countries and a continued debt overhang from the financial crisis. What next Real GDP is likely to

Car sales got a large boost, up to an annualised rate of 18.1 million units in September.
[***GDP_chart***] The housing sector is recovering and residential investment will continue
contribute positively to GDP growth. Housing starts have topped an annualised rate of 1 million for
the past five months. Existing home sales have declined recently, but they have been above
expectations for most 2015. The recent acceleration might not be supported in the medium term
because of limited supply and affordability constraints. Lower oil and gas prices are not as stimulative
for the US economy today as they once were due to the negative impact on the oil and gas industry
that has grown rapidly in recent years. The oil and gas rotary rig count is at a post recession low of
795, less than 50% than the peak of active rigs a year ago (see today s PROSPECTS 2016: Global oil

sector; they will remain a restrain in 2016. Equipment investment should stay upbeat, as testified by
strong shipments. Some risks are posed by the foreign growth outlook and tightening financial
conditions, which could restrain investment growth in the second half of next year. The main drag to
third quarter growth came from contracting inventories, whose quarterly change fell to 56.8 from

Shooting Free Throw
Shooting Free Throws.
Shooting free throws should be the easiest thing about basketball, but some people just cannot get the
hang of it. It seems to be easy because of the word free , and there is no defence. You are unguarded,
straight in front of the basket, and only 15 feet away. Free throws haunt players at every level of
basketball. A free throw is only worth one point when made, but one point can win or lose you the
game. I will be telling you the perfect form and technique to shooting and making a free throw.
First, you have to find a way to get in the zone and be comfortable. Everyone is focused on you, but
you need to be focusing on the shot you re about to take. That is a lot easier said than done because
there are millions of eyes watching just you. The fans, cheerleaders, and the mascots are just a few of
the distractions. When practicing your freethrow always have a mental thought like you re in the game
and you re going to sink it. Nothing else matters once you re on the free throw line, you need to be
clear minded to take a good shot. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No one has the exact same shooting routine, you will just have to come up with one on your own. A
routine will help to get you in the zone and get you concentrated on the shot you are about to take.

line, dribble a couple times, spin the ball, and keep an eye on their target the entire time. That helps to
blur the distractions and get you fully focused on the free

Elmer Gantry Essay
Elmer Gantry The majority of all books are trash. Sinclair Lewis Elmer Gantry is a great book because
it has credibility, a timeless theme, and it has the necessary action. Any book that can do that is a great
book. The credibility of Elmer Gantry is something that will keep this book eternally great. Although
the actual time period is dated, the plot is not dated. Most people can relate to the different characters
in the book. Elmer is a pompous football player who thinks that he is higher than any religion.
However, people try, and successfully convert him. He attempts to please two masters at first: his
vices and God. He eventually makes the decision to live by God, but of course he will occasionally
fool around with his old vices, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A book with this combination of sex and violence makes it a book that it is even suitable for easy
reading for the person who does not want to learn anything. Finally, Elmer Gantry is a timeless book
because it has a universal theme: humans will always sin. It is most obviously seen through Elmer,
although it is seen in other characters as well. Elmer has had a history of raising hell and being an
agnostic. He converts, but still suffers the same problems. He still drinks, smokes, and has casual sex.
He gets accused of messing around with one of the parishioners of his first church, and when he is
able to escape that ordeal, he then gets kicked out of seminary for drinking. He takes some time off as
a business man, but ends back in the ministry, this time in a traveling evangelism show, sort of the
predecessor of televangelists. He gets off of smoking and drinking, but is still an adulterer, which is
his major character flaw. He eventually gets married, and takes his preaching seriously. But he still
commits adultery with at least two women. And just when the reader thinks that he is going to clean
his act, he gets back into the cycle at the end of the novel.
Although he is the most prolific sinner in the novel, he has company. Jim, his first true friend, has all
the same vices as Elmer. Sharon is an adulteress and Frank is an agnostic. Everyone in this story has
vices that they will not, or cannot, give up. That is true with all humans, which is what makes the

Charles Darwin s The Hms Beagle And His Exploration...
Today was the day. Today was the day I would finally get all my answers on the theory of evolution,
from the master himself, or should I say father . As I opened the door, a mysterious old figure stood
with a tortoise by his side: it was Charles Darwin. Quickly and eagerly he went into the dining room
and eagerly cried, Guys! I am very glad to see you all! I need to tell you all everything, everything that
I had found out about! Before my family had fully sat on their seats, he shared fascinating stories
about his adventures and voyages. He began explaining his tails on the famous HMS Beagle and his
exploration of the Galapagos Islands. On his voyage on the Beagle he was instructed to chart stretches
of coastlines of South America, but as he explained that he wasn t any Picasso, his sketches ended up
poorly drawn. As we all know, Darwin has never been the type to enforce rules, and plus charting
coastlines is just the most boring job a person can do. As well as charting, he shared his strange
fascination on his observations of how the characteristics of plants and animals suits only specific
environments in South America. He explained how plants and animals in similar geographic and
climate zones have a similar resemblance. With great enthusiasm, Charles addressed my half brother
and wife saying, Tom Bradey, 3 time MVP and 4 time super bowl winner, oh and the beautiful

Cosmetic Changes Of Medical Technology
Introduction
With the development of medical technology, many ambulatories and cosmetic changes can be done
by surgical services. This has lead the demand for surgical services to grow rapidly in the past decade.
The ambulatory surgery in United States hospitals had increased to 2.9 million procedures, according
to the data from American Hospital Association. As medical technology has developed day by day,
some hospitals have introduced digital operating room, tele surgery, and robotic assistants. These
modern technologies can offer shorter hospital stays, less pain, faster recovery and fewer
complications. However, many new technologies come with many requirement checks, safety checks,
etc. that cause a delay with the pre surgical check. In general, surgical services cost about 40% of the
hospital s overall revenue. However, operating room performance has many issues that cause
inefficiencies and delays in the operation. A study shows that if the hospitals can operate one more
procedure per day per operation room, it could translate to an additional $4 million to $7 million in
annual revenue.
Summary
A large number of hospitals are having a delay in processing time. They are expecting six sigma to be
a useful tool to enhance the quality of operating room process. The project has set several target areas
to improve. These areas include improving the first case start time, optimizing technologies,
improving room turnover times, ensuring appropriate scheduling, improving

The Role Of Women During History Throughout The 20th Century
The role of women in history has changed dramatically over time, especially in the past century. Most
of the time, she is presented as a victim of society, helpless and hopeless. Blamed and accused of
being the root of all the problems. She is often sidelined because of being a confused being, not
knowing what she wants and at the same time, she is the center of attention and the subject of man s
fantasy (the male gaze). History is full of evidence and stories of violence against women, who are
subject to the cruel tortures in the male dominate society. It was not until the 20th century when
women got the right to vote after several years of protests and movements. It is of great interest to me

The Piano is the story of a woman an artist, who is the victim of society. Ada McGrath, the mute
pianist, who is already the mother of a little girl, is married to a man who she has never seen. She is

had a bunch of suitcases with them already. One thing to be noted is that when Ada McGrath appeared
for the first time in front of his new husband, he gave a slight repulsive or disapproving look. Later in
the scene, he is seen asking his friend What do you think? to which his friend tells him she looks tired.
Until this moment, Ada has been denied her wish twice. She is dropped at the coast against her wish,
and her husband leaves her piano at the coast even though she insisted. On the top of that, she has
been judged as a property and an object. Clearly, she is not like what her husband had expected. He
must have expected a more beautiful and young wife and therefore he looked a bit disappointed.

The Event That Changed My Life Essay
There have been very few events throughout my lifetime that I feel have impacted or inspired me with
such noteworthiness and that I know will change my outlook on the world and affect me forever. One
of those events occurred when I traveled to Portugal, my parent s homeland. From this excursion in
2007, I learned the importance of family, most importantly the distant kind. It provided me with a
totally different perspective on the world and how large and extended one s family can really be; even
across cultures and continents. I felt so fortunate learning this lesson at a young age and growing to

Since the town I was in was in a very rural area of the country, on the northern most point, near the
border of Spain, whatever meats, fruits and vegetables I ate were freshly grown or raised on local
farms. I had a first hand experience with this when I went to my grandmother s very old friend s
house. While I was there, I saw my first freshly prepared chicken with the head, feathers, and feet
removed in front of my eyes. Even though this seemed like a gory and almost disgusting thing to me
at the time, I later found out, in the film Food Inc., that the ways animals are treated in this country are
much worse than what I saw that day. Nonetheless, the freshness of ingredients in any cooking is
always a plus, and this made better by being at the table with my family and friends. From having
spent these few hours with my relatives in Portugal, I was able to come away knowing great tasting
food and beautiful, and at times gory, memories. Quite honestly, I ve never had better tasting chicken.
The Portuguese culture, which I had already grown up with in the U.S., was a main part of the trip in
and of itself. The magnificent architecture that I saw there, even though it was decaying with time,
was very symbolic of the Portuguese heritage. For example, on many red clay terracotta roof tops
there resided cupolas, and on those cupolas was the famed Gallo do Barcelos (English equivalent

Come along as an adventure through time takes launch. From the interim of Arthur Miller s birth and
death, he wrote some of America s greatest plays which are known all around the world. This world
renowned screenwriter and playwright is arguably considered the best playwright of the 20th century.
We start our journey here on October 17, 1915 in Harlem, New York where Miller was born. Arther
Miller was the son of Isidore and Augusta, a Polish and Jewish Immigrant family who owned a
flourishing manufacturing business. The miller family got hit hard during the Wall Street Crash of

The Supreme Court Of Canada Decision Essay
Introduction You have asked me to summarize the Supreme Court of Canada decision in Doré v
Barreau du Québec, 2012 SCC 12, SCR 395 and analyze whether the Law society is likely to sanction
Evan Frank. Although the Rules of Professional Conduct place limitations on certain conduct to
ensure professionalism, the expressive rights of lawyers must be given due respect and the likelihood
of Mr. Frank s sanction will depend on a fair balance of expressive value of the content in the letter,
with the public s expectation of professionalism. Case summary: Doré v Barreau du Québec During a
criminal proceeding where the appellant, Mr. Doré was the defence council in the Superior court of
Quebec, he was subject to personal attacks by Justice Boilard. Taking offence from the personal
attacks, he wrote a letter to the judge, which included attacks on the judge s professionalism, social
skills, and shaming him as a judge. (Doré, at Para. 10) A complaint was filed against Mr. Doré, by the
Syndic du Barreau for violation of article 2.03 of the Code of ethics of advocates, R.R.Q. 1981, c. B 1,
r.1, and oath of office. The article stated that the conduct of an advocate must bear the stamp of
objectivity, moderation and dignity (Para. 13) which the judicial council concluded that Mr. Doré
violated. The Judicial council, rejecting Mr. Dore s claim that the letter was private, concluded that
Judge Boilard s conduct did not justify the content in letter. (Doré, at para.16) The issue before

Comparing Stories Necklace And The Bet
What do both of the stories the Necklace and The Bet have in common? Well they are both trying to
say that both the characters, the lawyer and Mathilde have to deal with a money problem and have a
challenge to deal with the money situation.
First of all Mathilde wants to feel pretty and things only white girls will understand. So she gets some
stuff that make her feel pretty and that s when the problem starts. Mathilde loses her necklace where
she gets a panic attack and starts to lose it. When she prepares to attend a fancy party, she borrows a
diamond necklace from her friend Madame Forestier, then loses the necklace and must work for ten
years to pay off a replacement. Her one night of radiance cost her and Monsieur Loisel

Why I Want To Pursue A Master Of Science Degree
Education is not preparation for life; Education is life for itself.
These are the words of John Dewey, which have led an everlasting impression on my mind. It relates
to the idea of lifelong learning, and the knowledge that education is much more than what lies within
the curriculum. Whenever I pause by to reflect on my ken of knowledge, I feel that how little I have
learnt and that an enormous, unknown and fascinating wealth of knowledge lies before me, yet to be
explored. Education is like an edifice based on strong rudiments and strengthened by the fundamentals
and practical skills acquired during one s lifetime. So my main goal is to design the next generation
innovations in field rather than being just a user of existing technologies and findings. So I intend to
pursue Master of Science degree in Automotive software Engineering at your university as the first
step towards obtaining a PHD.
Nothing is Impossible in Life has always been a motivating force behind all my achievements. I
strongly believe that enjoy what we do and having the passion to pursue, we can ultimately achieve
our destination, no matter how much efforts are needed. My inherent urge and interest to pursue
engineering emanates from an instinctive inclination for Physics and Mathematics since my schooling.
From early childhood, I was very captivated with electronic appliances around me. I would ask my
parents about their principle of working. I always tried to find out what basic elements and

Essay On Life In The Iron Mills
Class division has existed throughout time, both in its range of meaning and complexity of describing
social division. The modern implications of class can be seen as a general word for groups or group
distribution that has become more common. Rebecca Harding Davis s short story Life in the Iron
Mills, together with Raymond Williams s entry Class delineates the oppressed lower class in a vivid
and moving way, exemplifying the impact of social divisions on oppressed working labourers. Davis
embodies a grim, detailed portrayal of laboring life (Pistelli 1) with an articulate correlation of
Williams s entry Class, structuring her narrative and focus of attention on gender, industrialization,
immigration, and social divide. This essay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hugh relies on his creative inspiration in life, valuing his talent that does not represent a labourer,
servant in husbandry, journeyman, artificer, handicraftsman, miner, or otherwise engaged in manual
labour (Williams 65). As can be seen, Davis s use of narration expresses her desire for oppressive
gender specific roles to carry over less meaning within social division, exemplifying Hugh s intuitive
perception of reality. The statue Itself functions as a synecdoche for the story that yields another point
of Davis s understanding between her relationship and subject matter with the audience. Hugh s statue
when rightly viewed, exemplified by Mitchell speaks the truth of workers existence that neither Hugh
(whose speech becomes hesitant and sub literate when asked about the statue) nor the narrator seem
capable of doing. As Mitchell reads the statue, lashing out against May s understanding of it asks
questions of God (Davis) just as the narrator hopes he or she will reveal the very lives of workers
asking the terrible dumb question she or he cannot fully Drinkle 3 articulate. The statue coincides with
Williams s class theory that is acquired [through] a special association with education (Williams 61) as
if educated upper class individuals are unable to depict reality seen through disadvantaged
interpretations of stagnated working men. Life in the Iron Mills makes certain the

Judaism As A Monotheistic Religion
Judaism is known to be a monotheistic religion, that is historic religion of Jewish people, which is said
to be one of the oldest religions that fall under the monotheistic religion that believes in God, and that
God is an all knowing, all powerful God that created the world as well as everything that is in it
(Voorst,2013). Judaism foundation started in the original covenant made between Abraham and God,
circa 1900 BCE, when Abraham was called to leave his home in Ur and travel to Cannan, which was
later known as Palestine and Israel, the land which God promised to give to his descendants
(Swartz,2005). Years later, there was a second covenant with Moses, who led the Jews out of slavery
in Egypt, exodus back to the lands of Canaan. At Mt Horeb also known as Sinai, is where God gave
the Jewish people the Ten Commandants as was as other rules to live by which are found in the Torah,
as well as the first five books of the Bible, marking the beginning of Judaism as a structured religion
(Swartz,2005).
While Judaism is, the oldest religions that fall under the monotheistic religion that believes in God,

Possibilites of Solar Energy
Background Living organisms are dependent on energy. Chemical energy is formed through the
conversion of sunlight by organisms such as bacteria and plants. It is through this process that food is
formed for other organisms. Nature only consumes the amount of energy supplied by the sun. A part
of the solar energy consumed by nature (animals, plants and their habitats) is transformed into
chemical energy and is sealed off eternally from the atmosphere, stored as biomass. 80% of our
current energy requirements are met by fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas. Biomass material
was converted into fossil fuels millions of years ago. Due to the time it took to form these fossil fuels,
it is not possible to rely on these materials to continue meeting the needs of consumption. This means
that fossil fuels will either become depleted or be too uneconomical to recover. Appropriate actions
must be taken to ensure equilibrium between renewable and non renewable energy sources as the
change of fossil fuels into a usable form emits carbon dioxide, damaging the climate (Nijhoff
1979:35). Solar radiation, planetary energy and geothermal energy are the three forms of renewable
energy available on earth. Radiation from the sun is the highest source of energy and the obtainability
of these sources alters. In a nuclear fusion process in the sun, hydrogen is transformed into helium. It
is in the form of electromagnetic waves that the surface of the sun radiates this energy. This will

People are exposed to violence on a daily basis, whether it is through media, personal relationships, or
simply observed during daily activities. The few types of violence that are most prominent in today s
society are physical, sexual, psychological, emotional, and domestic violence. Domestic violence is
one of the most problematic and dangerous forms of violence that exist due to the detrimental effects
it has on the individuals directly involved, children who witness these acts of violence, and society as
a whole. Both men and women can be victims of domestic abuse, however, Safe Horizon states that, 1
in 4 women will experience domestic violence during her lifetime (Safe Horizon). Everyone who
experiences or witnesses domestic abuse are affected in detrimental ways. The abusers often have
anger problems or lack of impulse control which only progresses. The victims become physically and
emotionally scarred and the children who fall witness to parental domestic violence develop issues
with emotional and behavioral functioning as well as social competence. More often than not,
domestic violence is a learned behavior by children in abusive homes. Research conducted by The
American Medical Association estimates that over 3.3 million children observe spousal abuse every
year (Bennett, 1995). Because of this, children will believe this behavior is okay and may even

The Use Of Nigger
The use of the term nigger can be used as a amicable greeting between two blacks, or as a hideous
pejorative (Marriott 94) towards blacks. Marriott notes that the use of nigger is usually condoned and
used by younger blacks as a term of endearment (98), in hopes to gradually alter the meaning of the
word. Their goal is to normalize the usage of nigger between blacks to dull its edge whenever whites
use it (Marriott 95). This has been proved somewhat efficient, as most whites dread the word and
express feelings of disgust whenever it is heard from the mouth of whites. Many younger blacks
believe their efforts are stimulating a progression in society, but older blacks and the majority of
whites assert just the opposite it illustrates anything

America Land The Doers Analysis
When a butterfly flaps its wings, it is said that a hurricane can form as a result. Of course, we do not
see the hurricane that comes much later we simply see a butterfly going about its business. How can a
butterfly accomplish such a monumental feat and could a human do it too? Well, as with all actions, it
requires energy. In a recent commercial by Chevron, it is implied that oil is the source of energy for
human doers. Filled with images of patriotism, inventions, and all the wonders of mankind s

however, is the resulting hurricane. Chevron s fallacious commercial about doers is an example of

Graphene And Its Effects On Our Environment
ABSTRACT
Graphene is pure carbon in the form of a very thin, nearly transparent sheet, one at6om thick. It has
been hailed as a miracle material because of its low weight, high strength and high electrical and heat
conductivity. Since 2004, the graphene market has risen and with the potential for future application
could be a multibillion dollar business. Graphene has been planned to replace conductors and also
replace catalysts in enzyme immobilisation. Graphene can be manufactured in ways that are low cost
and high return.

GLOBAL MARKET
Even though graphene has only been on the market for a few short years, the global market for
graphene and its products has risen steadily since graphene was first isolated in 2004 by Novoselov.
With new products and uses being created the net worth of graphene has reached an approximate $10
million dollars with most of the sales being concentrated into semiconductors, it is expected to
increase exponentially to 180 million by 2018 and even further if adapting graphene into the silicon
market. The great demand for graphene and future applications has encouraged more manufacturers
and suppliers throughout USA, Europe, and China.
SUPPLY
According to a US geologic survey in 2012, found that China had over half of the world s graphite
supply located in their mines. The leading governments of the world have become aware of the
technological importance of graphite was transformed recently from an academic material to an
important material. China has acted upon this by raising the tax on exported graphite leading to an
increase in graphite cost worldwide. Due to graphene being only one layer of carbon atoms, most
graphene products can be created with a fraction of a gram of graphite therefore one single graphite
mine could provide the world with graphene.
RESEARCH
Many big name technology companies have already started to experiment with graphene such as IBM,
Samsung, and Sandisk only small sections of their businesses have to do with graphene while the rest

Causes of Japanese Stagnation
Causes of Japanese Stagnation
Weak Corporate Governance
Corporate governance has been a major issue for Japan and has undoubtedly affected the economic
growth of the country. In 2012, what is considered commonplace in regards to corporate governance
in many countries, including Asian countries, is not the norm in Japan. For example, in countries like
India, China, and South Korea, companies are required to have at least one independent director. In
New York, a firm must have a majority of independent members in their board of directors. According
to a study in 2011, out of 1,668 Japanese firms only 34% had at least one independent director. (insert
citation). According to Yuko Kawamoto of Waseda University, Japanese bosses argue that similar rules
in Japan would limit managers freedom (as stated in Back to the Drawing Board, 2012). Also in Japan,
shareholders do not have any one to advocate for them because boardroom committees have no legal
status ( Corporate Governance in Japan, 2012). All of this, coupled with Japan s culture of foreign
exclusion, is a big problem for the country. By not paying attention to its competitors, especially in
Asia, and not expanding the culture of their corporate boards, Japan is missing out on many
opportunities to look beyond their borders and successfully grow their economy.
Weak Banking Sector
During the 1990s, Japan began to experience a slow decline in the health of its banking sector, which
ultimately led to a banking crisis in

How God Views Covenants On The Gospels, Acts, And Revelations
What is a covenant? Webster dictionary defines a covenant as a written agreement or promise usually

Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads all into truth. The Holy Spirit
was sent to live within the hearts of people who had faith in Jesus Christ and to transform them to
become more like the Father. Mark Saucy (2004), a professor of systematic theology for Talbot School
of Theology of Biola University, wrote in his article Personal Ethic of the New Covenant: How Does
the Spirit Change Us that, The new covenant s hope for a new heart deeply impressed with the aware
ness of God s favor and love by the Spirit provides insight into the psychological processes that direct
the disciple s transformation into the image of Christ (p. 356). Another way that people are able to see
God s faithfulness is when they are given an opportunity to remember what God has done for them. In
Acts 3 Peter is addressing a crowd in Israel reminding them of the covenant that God had made to
their ancestors. Acts 3:25 And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your
fathers. He said to Abraham,

An Analysis Of Jimmy Cross, Characters InThe Things They...
The short story, The Things They Carried written by Tim O Brien, follows a Lieutenant named Jimmy
Cross and his men. In the literary work, Tim O Brien informs the reader not only of the physical
objects the men carry but also the intangibles. This includes guilt and fear, while others are specific
physical objects, including matches, morphine, M 16 rifles. An American solider by the name of Ted
Lavender is killed by a Vietnamese sniper, and his commanding officer, Jimmy Cross, feels personally
responsible for the death of his grunt. He feels convicted because he was distracted by a memory of
home and an unfulfilled romance. Tim O Brien develops the character of Lieutenant Jimmy Cross in
his literary work through his actions, his thoughts, and his words in order to change his perspective to
better serve his men.
Throughout the short story, Lieutenant Jimmy Cross s actions change from being a lenient officer
overlooking drug usage and waste of ammunition, to an officer with high expectations and strict
demands from his soldiers. This is done when he puts his attention towards a woman at home by the
name of Martha. For example, Lieutenant Cross was in a dream like state, when it came to Martha and
he hoped to do all these things with her. He had hoped to kiss her, caress her body, and make love to
her. At that point a soldier named Ted Lavender returned from the bathroom and was shot in the head
by a Vietnamese sniper killing him. Jimmy Cross blames himself for the death of

According to Encyclopedia Britannica, it is the condition in which one human being was owned by another. A slave was considered by law as property, and was deprived of the rights held by free people. Slavery was viewed as a way that undeveloped people, such as Black African men and women, could receive the physical and moral discipline and training necessary to attain civilized virtues. In Colonial America, slaves aged up to 12 were generally considered to be children , and those between 12 and 18 to be youths. Such definitions were important when considering the treatment of slave children. In western ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Children brought from West Africa were forcibly captured, kidnapped or tricked into slavery, although some were sold by relatives, and re sold to merchants on the coast. Recent research shows that slave produced commodities, especially sugar, coffee, tobacco, and cotton helped create a mass consumer market in the metropolitan. In early American history, labor migration from Europe is identified with the phenomenon of indentured servitude. Indentured servitude was an early solution to the shortage of labor in many parts of the English colonies. It became a central institution in the economy in many parts of colonial British America. In the Southern colonies, indentured servants furnished most of the labor until slavery began to take over. Indentured servitude was a contract committing one party to make a series of payments to or on behalf of the other. The payments included the settlement of transportation to the colonies, room and board over the contractual term, and final payment in kind or, less usually, cash at the conclusion of the term. In exchange the servant agreed to be completely at the disposal of the payor, to work for an agreed upon term agreed, usually four to seven years. From the master s point of view, indentured servitude was to supply labor. For prospective servants, it was to provide individuals, who were without economic resources, transportation to the New World and the hope that serving a master for a specified ... • 4. The Challenges Of Philip II And Elizabeth I Philip II and Elizabeth I are two of the most important figures during the 16th century. Philip played a major role in Spain once his father (Charles V) stepped down while Elizabeth was a key figure in England as she ruled and showed her feminism. Both figures had a rough path to lead as the subjects were always a problem. To understand Philip carefully, the full history of his reign is crucial when looking at Spain. Challenges were already given to him from his father and Philip had to learn fast. On the other hand, Elizabeth had a rough childhood and she had to win over her subjects. Through critical examination of primary sources, strategic characteristics will be presented while under what influence they were in throughout their reign. Therefore, the opposite backgrounds to the throne, resistance from subjects, and different strategies ultimately led these two together through war. Charles V stepped down in 1556 and Philip II took over when he was young. Already, Philip was getting praise from people in the administration. He had the characteristics of listening to advisors while still showing that he was informed in the topic of discussion. Ambassador Suriano even said that in the king s eyes no nation is superior to the Spaniards. It is among them that he lives, it is they that he consults, and it is they that direct his policy; in all this he is acting quite contrary to the habit of his father. His famous works indicate the distortion of human society and also on the individual level and are critically acclaimed over the world. This essay will discuss the comparison of the theme of human society as a waste land in two of Eliot s famous works, The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock and Preludes . Although both the poem discusses the theme of human society as a waste land, the way in which Eliot portrays the theme differs in the poems. Stanza I begin with the description of a cold winter evening and the routine scenario such as burnt out ends of smoky days (line 4), the grimy scrapes (line 6), withered leaves (line 7), newspapers from vacant lots (line 8), through a third person omniscient point of view. All these description of the day and the street tells of something that is dark, uncheerful and even still. These lines suggest the mundane scenario of a society that has lost all its charms and liveliness. Then the point of view shifts to the second person You . The third stanza gives a picture of a person who waits for someone else to come to a lonely bed with hopes of something unreal. This has the suggestions to human lives where people wait for things to become better and in the hope lose grip of their own lives. The lines 33 34, you have such a vision of the street as the street hardly understands gives the reader the picture that the person on the bed dreamt of the street of the street as it actually never will be, implying to hopes the human, as an individual, has of how the society should be. Symbolism is used to represent ideas; that may imply deeper, hidden meaning than what the text directly states. It should accelerate slightly in 2016, as the buoyant labour market will boost private consumption, offsetting some of the weakness in the industrial and trade sectors. [***GDP_chart***] The housing sector is recovering and residential investment will continue contribute positively to GDP growth. Housing starts have topped an annualised rate of 1 million for the past five months. Existing home sales have declined recently, but they have been above expectations for most 2015. The recent acceleration might not be supported in the medium term because of limited supply and affordability constraints. Lower oil and gas prices are not as stimulative for the US economy today as they once were due to the negative impact on the oil and gas industry that has grown rapidly in recent years. The oil and gas rotary rig count is at a post recession low of 795, less than 50% than the peak of active rigs a year ago (see today s PROSPECTS 2016: Global oil market). Some risks are posed by the foreign growth outlook and tightening financial conditions, which could restrain investment growth in the second half of next year. Any book that can do that is a great book. The credibility of Elmer Gantry is something that will keep this book eternally great. Although the actual time period is dated, the plot is not dated. Most people can relate to the different characters in the book. Elmer is a pompous football player who thinks that he is higher than any religion. However, people try, and successfully convert him. Finally, Elmer Gantry is a timeless book because it has a universal theme: humans will always sin. It is most obviously seen through Elmer, although it is seen in other characters as well. Elmer has had a history of raising hell and being an agnostic. He converts, but still suffers the same problems. He still drinks, smokes, and has casual sex. He gets accused of messing around with one of the parishioners of his first church, and when he is able to escape that ordeal, he then gets kicked out of seminary for drinking. He takes some time off as a business man, but ends back in the ministry, this time in a traveling evangelism show, sort of the predecessor of televangelists. He gets off of smoking and drinking, but is still an adulterer, which is his major character flaw. He eventually gets married, and takes his preaching seriously. But he still commits adultery with at least two women. And just when the reader thinks that he is going to clean his act, he gets back into the cycle at the end of the novel. Although he is the most prolific sinner in the novel, he has company. Jim, his first true friend, has all the same vices as Elmer. Sharon is an adulteress and Frank is an agnostic. Today was the day I would finally get all my answers on the theory of evolution, from the master himself, or should I say father . As I opened the door, a mysterious old figure stood with a tortoise by his side: it was Charles Darwin. Quickly and eagerly he went into the dining room and eagerly cried, Guys! I am very glad to see you all! I need to tell you all everything, everything that I had found out about! Before my family had fully sat on their seats, he shared fascinating stories about his adventures and voyages. He began explaining his tails on the famous HMS Beagle and his exploration of the Galapagos Islands. On his voyage on the Beagle he was instructed to chart stretches of coastlines of South America, but as he explained that he wasn t any Picasso, his sketches ended up poorly drawn. As we all know, Darwin has never been the type to enforce rules, and plus charting coastlines is just the most boring job a person can do. As well as charting, he shared his strange fascination on his observations of how the characteristics of plants and animals suits only specific environments in South America. He explained how plants and animals in similar geographic and climate zones have a similar resemblance. This has lead the demand for surgical services to grow rapidly in the past decade. The ambulatory surgery in United States hospitals had increased to 2.9 million procedures, according to the data from American Hospital Association. As medical technology has developed day by day, some hospitals have introduced digital operating room, tele surgery, and robotic assistants. These modern technologies can offer shorter hospital stays, less pain, faster recovery and fewer complications. However, many new technologies come with many requirement checks, safety checks, etc. that cause a delay with the pre surgical check. In general, surgical services cost about 40% of the hospital s overall revenue. However, operating room performance has many issues that cause inefficiencies and delays in the operation. A study shows that if the hospitals can operate one more procedure per day per operation room, it could translate to an additional $4 million to $7 million in annual revenue. Summary A large number of hospitals are having a delay in processing time. They are expecting six sigma to be a useful tool to enhance the quality of operating room process. I had a first hand experience with this when I went to my grandmother s very old friend s house. While I was there, I saw my first freshly prepared chicken with the head, feathers, and feet removed in front of my eyes. Even though this seemed like a gory and almost disgusting thing to me at the time, I later found out, in the film Food Inc., that the ways animals are treated in this country are much worse than what I saw that day. Nonetheless, the freshness of ingredients in any cooking is always a plus, and this made better by being at the table with my family and friends. From having spent these few hours with my relatives in Portugal, I was able to come away knowing great tasting food and beautiful, and at times gory, memories. Quite honestly, I ve never had better tasting chicken. The Portuguese culture, which I had already grown up with in the U.S., was a main part of the trip in and of itself. The magnificent architecture that I saw there, even though it was decaying with time, was very symbolic of the Portuguese heritage. • 26. Possibilites of Solar Energy Background Living organisms are dependent on energy. Chemical energy is formed through the conversion of sunlight by organisms such as bacteria and plants. It is through this process that food is formed for other organisms. Nature only consumes the amount of energy supplied by the sun. A part of the solar energy consumed by nature (animals, plants and their habitats) is transformed into chemical energy and is sealed off eternally from the atmosphere, stored as biomass. 80% of our current energy requirements are met by fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas. Biomass material was converted into fossil fuels millions of years ago. Due to the time it took to form these fossil fuels, it is not possible to rely on these materials to continue meeting the needs of consumption. This means that fossil fuels will either become depleted or be too uneconomical to recover. Appropriate actions must be taken to ensure equilibrium between renewable and non renewable energy sources as the change of fossil fuels into a usable form emits carbon dioxide, damaging the climate (Nijhoff 1979:35). Solar radiation, planetary energy and geothermal energy are the three forms of renewable energy available on earth. This manipulation of logos makes viewers associate Chevron s history with America s history and think nothing of their actual operations. They barely list any of their own contributions and even more importantly, fail to list the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although I only read the introduction and conclusion I believe that the information I was giving was very strong. In my essay I am going to write about the parts I found interesting in the Canuck Rock introduction and conclusion. The introduction of Canuck Rock was more than less comparing the Canadian side of music to the world. At the very start of the introduction a quote by Gilles Vigneault caught my eye I thought was very true I often say that there is no such thing as a Canadian song style this may sound a bit ungracious of me, but it conveys what I mean... There is Quebec style, and there is the American style . In my opinion, this quote ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

GLOBAL MARKET Even though graphene has only been on the market for a few short years, the global market for graphene and its products has risen steadily since graphene was first isolated in 2004 by Novoselov. With new products and uses being created the net worth of graphene has reached an approximate $10 million dollars with most of the sales being concentrated into semiconductors, it is expected to increase exponentially to 180 million by 2018 and even further if adapting graphene into the silicon market. The great demand for graphene and future applications has encouraged more manufacturers and suppliers throughout USA, Europe, and China. SUPPLY According to a US geologic survey in 2012, found that China had over half of the world s graphite supply located in their mines. The leading governments of the world have become aware of the technological importance of graphite was transformed recently from an academic material to an important material. China has acted upon this by raising the tax on exported graphite leading to an increase in graphite cost worldwide. Due to graphene being only one layer of carbon atoms, most graphene products can be created with a fraction of a gram of graphite therefore one single graphite mine could provide the world with graphene. RESEARCH Many big name technology companies have already started to experiment with graphene such as IBM, Samsung, and Sandisk only small sections of their businesses have to do with graphene while the rest ... • 39. Causes of Japanese Stagnation Causes of Japanese Stagnation Weak Corporate Governance Corporate governance has been a major issue for Japan and has undoubtedly affected the economic growth of the country. In 2012, what is considered commonplace in regards to corporate governance in many countries, including Asian countries, is not the norm in Japan. For example, in countries like India, China, and South Korea, companies are required to have at least one independent director. In New York, a firm must have a majority of independent members in their board of directors. According to a study in 2011, out of 1,668 Japanese firms only 34% had at least one independent director. (insert citation). According to Yuko Kawamoto of Waseda University, Japanese bosses argue that similar rules in Japan would limit managers freedom (as stated in Back to the Drawing Board, 2012). Also in Japan, shareholders do not have any one to advocate for them because boardroom committees have no legal status ( Corporate Governance in Japan, 2012). All of this, coupled with Japan s culture of foreign exclusion, is a big problem for the country. By not paying attention to its competitors, especially in Asia, and not expanding the culture of their corporate boards, Japan is missing out on many opportunities to look beyond their borders and successfully grow their economy. Weak Banking Sector During the 1990s, Japan began to experience a slow decline in the health of its banking sector, which ultimately led to a banking crisis in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. How God Views Covenants On The Gospels, Acts, And Revelations What is a covenant? Webster dictionary defines a covenant as a written agreement or promise usually under seal between two or more parties especially for the performance of some action. Throughout the Old Testament the word covenant is used to remind God s people of his steadfast and unfailing devotion to them as they navigate in a world without a visible God. As God sends his it is clear to see even more of how God values the covenants he has made with his people. This paper will talk about how God views covenants in the Gospels, Acts, Paul s Epistles, the General Epistles, and Revelations. In the Gospels, Jesus fulfills prophecies and promises that God made in the Old Testament, and also as he establishes new covenants with his people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Acts 2 16 17 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: In the last days it shall be, says God, that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh, your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. The Holy Spirit coming is also a fulfillment of Jesus word in John 14: 16 17 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads all into truth. The Holy Spirit was sent to live within the hearts of people who had faith in Jesus Christ and to transform them to become more like the Father. Mark Saucy (2004), a professor of systematic theology for Talbot School of Theology of Biola University, wrote in his article Personal Ethic of the New Covenant: How Does the Spirit Change Us that, The new covenant s hope for a new heart deeply impressed with the aware ness of God s favor and love by the Spirit provides insight into the psychological processes that direct the disciple s transformation into the image of Christ (p. 356). Another way that people are able to see God s faithfulness is when they are given an opportunity to remember what God has done for them. In Acts 3 Peter is addressing a crowd in Israel reminding them of the covenant that God had made to their ancestors. Acts 3:25 And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An American solider by the name of Ted Lavender is killed by a Vietnamese sniper, and his commanding officer, Jimmy Cross, feels personally responsible for the death of his grunt. Tim O Brien develops the character of Lieutenant Jimmy Cross in his literary work through his actions, his thoughts, and his words in order to change his perspective to better serve his men. Throughout the short story, Lieutenant Jimmy Cross s actions change from being a lenient officer overlooking drug usage and waste of ammunition, to an officer with high expectations and strict demands from his soldiers. This is done when he puts his attention towards a woman at home by the name of Martha. For example, Lieutenant Cross was in a dream like state, when it came to Martha and he hoped to do all these things with her. He had hoped to kiss her, caress her body, and make love to her. At that point a soldier named Ted Lavender returned from the bathroom and was shot in the head by a Vietnamese sniper killing him. Jimmy Cross blames himself for the death of ...
