Snow-Personal Narrative
I stared out of the empty window, remembering my childhood and how happy I would be when snow
would come. Now snow means winter and winter never fails to remind me of you. I remember the
way you would laugh at every joke I would tell and how wide your smile would become when you
heard about something you love or saw something beautiful. I blinked and was wide eyed into the
snow. It was bright and seemed so beautiful, but cold to the touch. Kind of like a person.
I moved away from the cold window and tied my hair up. The house was lonely but the warmth of the
coffee and my sweatshirt made me feel cozy here. I liked the quietness and simplicity of the place.
Yet, I still couldn t get you off of my mind, no matter how hard I try it was impossible. ... Show more

I called Abby and told her to pick me up and bring her truck so we could load the wheelchair into the
back.
When we got home, she took care of me. I slept most of the time, but I didn t mind having her stay
there and keep me healthy. She stayed with me for about a week, but she checked in every once in
awhile. I wondered if my dad would worry about me at all. My legs and arm are hurting really bad at
this point.
The person who hit my car was a boy, who was only 15 years old and had just gotten his license. He
felt very bad about it all, but I told him it was okay and that it was all my fault for being on my phone
while driving.
Soon the months went by like days, and my bones began to heal and stopped hurting so badly. The
scratches on my face became scars. I hadn t been doing anything for a while and I was lonely. My dad
had called once again, but I didn t pick up.
Maybe I would feel better for a while if Abby came over. I invited her and she came right away. We
drank hot tea, the way we liked it. We sat under blankets in the window seat, and stared into the snow
for hours it seemed. I thought to myself, Everything will be okay, it s just going to take time. It will be
okay at some

Religious Freedom And Separation Of Church And State Essay
After many frustrations and disputes arising out of the Commonwealth of Virginia, the termination of
Bill Establishing A Provision for Teachers of Christian Religion and the new Virginia Statue for
Religious Freedom mark a necessary and significant turn. The people of Virginia can finally savor the
religious freedom that they longed for. I shall hereby applaud the efforts pushed forth by the honorable
James Madison, Thomas Jefferson and so many others who shared the common stance on religious
freedom and separation of church and state. However, the achievement seemed provincial when
placed in the context of the larger United States. The new nation is at great stake because the
congregational church in Massachusetts disallows and persecutes any deviation from its core religious
interpretation; Jews are perceived as the enemies of the Christ by a large group of people; and the
Catholic minority in many states still suffers. Therefore, absolute religious freedom and the separation
of church and state shall be guaranteed in the new constitution in order to maintain the supremacy of
God over the state and purity of the God we trust, annihilate the violence, persecution and tyrannies
the God disdains, uphold the God given natural rights we once fought for and construct this blessed
new nation to be free and prosperous.
God is the divine creator of the universe whereas civil laws are the derivative of humankind. In other
words, Christian Religion pre existed any form of state or

The year 2017 saw a lot of changes to the landscape in Metcalfe County and one little lady from
Center even put us on the national news. Here are a few highlights.
January saw big changes to the landscape in Edmonton as four of the former Edmonton Elementary
School pods were demolished to make way for needed parking space. The remaining buildings are to
be repurposed. One building is to be remodeled and used as the central office, while a federal grant is
pending to use to renovate one of the lower buildings into a Community Health and Wellness Center.

The Persistence of Memory

The Persistence of Memory
Spain, 1931, Salvador Dali creates an abstract oil on canvas portrayal or the knowledge that is gained
through ones dreams, visions, and intuition. The Persistence of Memory, 1931 portrays an abstract
view of time and visions that Dali envisioned. Perhaps, his most famous work was The Persistence of
Memory, which he painted in his younger years in the 30s. The Persistence of Memory, 1931, elevates
the influence of the subconscious mind through fantasy like images, color, composition, and thought
provoking images.
Dali uses abstract images to represent a balance of altered views, conveying what is reality and what is
from the mind s eye. Note the mysterious rugged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dali also used the use of two secretive elevated rectangular planes in the work which balance out the
left side of the painting. A cold tree trunk standing on the largest elevated surface leads the viewer s
eyes in a circle back to where focus began at. This stub is seemingly cold and lifeless, with one time
piece hanging from its outstretched limb. Dali stimulates the spectator s mind, leading the individual
on a subconscious escapade (as he initially intended during composition).
The different abstract images shown in The Persistence of Memory, 1931, create a merry go round as
each image leaves the observer in a state of wonder, drawing them in. The image of what seems to be
some sort of shapeless human form brings about questions of the relevance of the images existence.
Dali attempted to portray an insignificant self image in a world possessing a significant amount of
more chaos and importance. These timepieces are intended to demonstrate the importance in daily
living that time and measurement play in each individual s life. The melting watches are a profound
representation that is frequently linked with hallucinations and surrealism. These images are used to
convey an alternate sense of reality which takes place in human cognition, further guiding individuals
away from the actuality of reality. In my opinion, Dali accurately portrays the human mind in the way
that it views precisely what it favors. His extremely

Macbeth Is Entirely Responsible for His Own Demise Essay
William Shakespeare s Macbeth is a tragedy about a war hero named Macbeth, who follows his
ambition with evil and who is repaid with evil. He is responsible for his own demise although only to
a certain extent. There were many other factors that contributed to the tragic that could have been
avoided for example how the witches predictions are responsible for influencing Macbeth s thoughts
although ultimately no one told Macbeth to kill Duncan. Lady Macbeth was also a very influential
character which manipulated Macbeth into doing bad deeds however he is responsible for putting
power into the hands of Lady Macbeth and letting her influence him. Finally, Macbeth acknowledges
his guilt of wrongdoing and is thereby responsible for his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If Macbeth truly did not want to commit evil, he could have refused his lady s arrangements. Instead,
Macbeth accepts the plans and goes further by asking Lady Macbeth to mock the time with fairest
show . Macbeth understood that killing Duncan was an immoral act but still persevered and therefore
the one ultimately to blame for his death. Macbeth was conscious that his thoughts are used for only
[for] vaulting ambition and yet he does nothing to correct the situation of his thoughts. Macbeth was
not mentally deranged before the killing of Duncan and is able to differentiate good from evil,
nevertheless he chose to commit regicide. Macbeth reveals that he knows what he is about to do is
immoral, and that that judgement here.... [will be] taught [to] return to plague the inventor . This
ambition eventually lead Macbeth to greed and paranoia; making him willing to do anything necessary
in order to secure his position of power. It also becomes easier and easier for Macbeth to commit
heinous crimes. Without thinking twice, he orders the murders of Macduff s family, including his
children. Macbeth s selfishness and reckless ambition lead him to his own demise. Macbeth is
crucially at fault for his own death, although blindly following the witches and giving Lady Macbeth
so much power over him to manipulate and influence him are an essential irrefutable factors that aided
in his death. Although ultimately it was Macbeth s own blind and greedy ambition which both

The Lemur and the Gibbon Essay
Where did we come from? A question that will always be asked by every human on this planet. Some
say that we are of God s creation and some say that we have gone through a long process called
evolution and that humans and apes share a single common ancestor. Here I am going to compare and
contrast between two of my favorite types of animals: The Lemur and the Gibbon. What is a Lemur?
Ask someone that question and you ll be surprised how silly the answer may be. From being a fruit to
a body part, it is sad how the general public does not know that the Lemur one of our oldest primates,
an order which includes monkeys, apes, and us humans. There are about 32 different types of lemurs
on our planet today. They originated from Madagascar, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of them have rings on their tails and are called Ring Tailed Lemurs. They live mostly in trees
and are quadrupedal. They use their hands and tails to get from one tree to the other and they live in
groups from 3 to 20. And the female lemur is dominant. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Lemurs are
known to be very intelligent. They are highly adaptable to our climate and conditions. They eat a lot
and try to get a bit fat before the harsh winter arrives. And they have a cool excellent sense of balance.
nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; But since humans arrived in Madagascar some 1,500 years ago they
have been endangered. Sixteen different species of lemurs have gone extinct because of habitat
destruction to hunting by humans. I personally think its very unfair because these gentle non
aggressive animals were their before humans and even before monkeys. Prosimians first appeared
about 55 million years ago while apes been around for only 35 million years. In 1987, World Wildlife
International declared that the lemurs are the most gravely endangered group of primates in the world.
nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The Gibbon is a truly unique animal. Gibbons are anthropoids like
humans and gorillas. They look somewhat like the Lemur but it has special features that make it
different from the Lemur. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Gibbons apes come from Southeast Asia and
the island of the Philippines. Some people will get this cool creature confused with

Dropping the Mic (A Remembered Event)
Weddings are a powerfully special time, and in the lead up to the pronouncement by the minister of
the unbreakable binds of the newly married couple, and their presentation to the congregation there
are many twists and turns where the parents of the new couple must appears with an abundance of
humor, and more then a little patience.

Seventeen years later, all of my older children were lined up at the front of the church, with the
minister in the middle, along with the siblings of their soon to be husbands. My oldest daughters
wanted to get married at the same time, and no amount of fatherly persuasion could convince them
otherwise, so I walked both of them down the aisle at the same time, one on the right arm, and the
other on the left. My younger children carried and threw flower petals, or carried the rings, and other
ceremonial portions of the service.
More than anything, I was simply praying that my daughters would be serious enough not to pull any
pranks during the service, or for one of them to catch fire during the service as one of the men of
honor had done the night of dress rehearsals when he backed into a lit candle and his mullet ignited.
Our minister knew these two girls, plus their 12 other biological siblings, and the half dozen other
adopted children my wife and I raised, and at times buried. The minister who performed their
dedication in infancy was also the same one who was about to perform the marriage, and he knew my
kids penchant for creative mischief, but all of them had sworn to be on their best behavior and all of
them of course promised that there would be no pranks at their own weddings.
The two oldest had a track record, a very long and hard to explain track record, but they were creative,

The Effect of Violence in the Media on the Minds of...
At an undeveloped age, adolescents minds are similar to sponges, they absorb everything they see or
hear, picking up on everything. However, we continue to let our youngsters watch the corruption,
viciousness, and the unsuitable linguistics frequently originated in the media today, but we don t turn
and blame ourselves, we blame the media they cultured it from. Why? As parents it s our
responsibility to filter what our children are exposed to. The media doesn t force the violence on the
young children, but they are setting standards for what children may think is ordinary behavior or
language. (Felson) Violence is found in almost everything anymore, regardless of the movie, show or
video games. There is some type of violence involved, and it s almost becoming normal . (Felson)
With forcefulness being observed in animations, sports, sitcoms and dramas, it s likely to make
children believe that this type of behavior is adequate. Psychologists have discovered that elevated
exposure of violent video games can be linked to delinquency, fighting at school, during play time, as
well as brutal criminal actions . (Felson) Although, it isn t only the violence on the television that is to
blame for portraying the violent behavior. All over the world, media is influencing our behavior. Do
you believe it s as powerful and influencing as many say it is?
Without a doubt, the influence of media has been proven to affect our behavior. (Felson) In recent
years the level of violence in

Roman Polanski s Film, The Pianist
Roman Polanski s film The Pianist follows the journey of a Polish Jew named Wladyslaw Szpilman.
Szpilman is a pianist who was playing for a Warsaw radio station when the first German bombs fell.
Once World War ll begins Szpilman and his family are forced to live in the Warsaw ghetto, but he is
later separated from them. At this time Warsaw is surrounded with German soldiers and from this time
up until the concentration camp prisoners are released. Hiding in abandoned, run down building
Szpilman struggles to survive. While in hiding a German officer Captain Wilm Hosenfeld tells
Szpilman to play the piano. The director Roman Polanski intelligently uses key representations of
symbolism throughout the film to develop the idea that to survive ... Show more content on

Lighting paired with the overall colour scheme leads the viewers to believe that something not so
good may occur soon. Sure enough, this is the scene when the first German bombs are dropped in
Warsaw 1939. From here on up until the turning point of the film the lighting is very dark. I think that
this is very important, as Polanski has done this in order to exaggerate and evoke emotion within the
audience. Another symbolic scene is when Szpilman is hiding in an old abandon building he is
approached by a German officer called Wilm Hosenfeld. Hosenfeld orders Szpilman to play the piano,
and at this time Hosenfeld s appearance is strong as we see in a close up of Hosenfeld. The room is
dark with grey lighting and Szpilman is thin, wearing frayed dark clothing, he has blended in with the
lighting and background. But as Szpilman begins to play the piano, a veil of light shines on him. The
veil of light then shifts onto Szpilman which portrays him metaphorically as an angel, conveying that
he is in a position of power, rather than Hosenfeld, who previously was. This scene in particular with
the light on Szpilman is a significant point in the film because it is the turning point. Szpilman is
weak, thin and the lighting leading up to this scene is dark, then after this scene the lighting begins to
brighten as well as Szpilman s life. Although we, the audience do not think much of the lighting

Brainbow Essay
Brainbow is a powerful tool used to visualize microscopic biological systems like cells, tissues and
organelles for the purpose of studies. During histogenesis of the nervous system, neurons beget
neurons as well as glia which proliferate, divide, migrate and differentiate. However due to their
microscopic nature, similarity as well as proximity to each other, tracing their lineages, path of
migration and final destination becomes complex and makes their study almost impossible. This
puzzle was resolved after the discovery of color (green fluorescent) expressing genes Aequorea
victoria (Shimomura et al.1962), which is capable of visualizing cells, tissues organelles and their
interactions (pioneered by Chalfie et al. 1994) based on distinctive ... Show more content on

Based on this analogy, multiple fluorescent genes can be genetically engineered to express varying
fluorescent proteins making each closely related neuron as unique as possible. One efficient technique
utilized in making a brainbow mouse is the Cre/lox based recombination technique which yields
pattern of protein expression of different colors. It has alternative means like recombinase mediated
DNA excision based/ inversion based both of which combine to produce about four different
combinations of genes compared to other techniques. In the recombinase mediated DNA excision,
three unique FPs are arranged in order along with two pairs of Cre recombinase recognition site (Lox
site) in between two of the FPs in the transgene. Identical pairs of the two recognition sites can only
be detected by Cre. Prior to recombination, the first color (default) is expressed. After recombination,
one of the FPs is expressed from what has now become a cassette . In the Invertion based brainbow
however, homogeneous pair of recognition sites are placed to face each other. The interspaced DNA is
inverted by Cre. With two FPs aligned anteriorly, the inversion causes one of the FPs to be expressed

The Bayeux Tapestry is a 230 foot long enigma. Although the historical events that inspired its
creation are well known, there are still many aspects of the tapestry that remain a mystery and a range
of theories to explain certain contested phenomena. There is still discrepancy over the basic facts of
the tapestry such as where it was made, and who even commissioned it. However, one aspect that has
many interpretations are the borders surrounding the main narrative. The borders stretch,
uninterrupted, above and below the main scene for almost the whole length of the tapestry. Composed

Fox and Crow can be used as a case study to lay out the various scholar s analyses of the fables. In the
Fox and Crow, the crow found a piece of cheese, but the fox tricked him into dropping it and ate it
himself. Some see this interaction from a pro Norman point of view. In it, William of Normandy is the
crow and the cheese is his claim to the crown. Harold is the conniving fox who tricks William by
going around his back and asking King Edward for the crown, even after he had sworn an oath to
William on sacred relics. Others see it with a pro English point of view. In this reading the cheese is
still the claim to the English throne, but now Harold is the crow. He rightly acquired the crown from
King Edward on his deathbed and now William is being the sneaky one, raising an army in secret and
coming to take the cheese back.
In The Narrative Art of the Bayeux Tapestry Master, John McNulty has two separate readings of the
fables that link together. First, he believes that all the eight canonical fables work together to convey
to the viewer the main themes of the narrative and that they supply a carefully attuned commentary on
the main story. The fables encompass themes from corruption and trickery to greed and vanity, which
are all associated with the events of the

Bartolome De Las Casas Analysis
Since the discovery of the new world, many explorers, monarchs, philosophers, even priests, had
something to say about its native people. Expressions of how these Europeans felt about the Native
Americans varied from barbarians to people who needed a little bit of guidance. Commenced by
Charles V, the Valladolid debate made up of philosopher Juan Gines De Sepulveda and priest
Bartolome De Las Casas, expressed the views of these two men of the indigenous people of the
Americas. Juan Gines De Sepulveda felt as if it were the right of the Spaniards to claim dominance of
the Native Americans and their lands. However, priest Bartolome De Las Casas refutes this argument,
saying that these Indians are capable of great opportunities. De Las Casas also argues that with the
help of the Spanish, these Native Americans can be taught to be Christians living in a modern social
environment. Sepulveda saw these natives as animals or half human while De La Casas described
them as humble and patient human beings. From a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is easy to perceive that De Las Casas was right because of his passion for freedom and injustice. If
the debate of Valladolid were still happening today, perhaps a revolution would ignite civil wars, or
division of state. By analyzing the views of Juan Gines de Sepulveda and Bartolome de Las Casas it is
evident that people had mixed emotions of these Native Americans. In conclusion, De Las Casas and
Sepulveda saw the Amerindians from two whole different perspectives. De Las Casas believed in the
Indians to be humble and patient people while Sepulveda believed them to be barbarians and natural
slaves. Overall, morally speaking, De Las Casas was right. The difference in between this philosopher
and this priest did no good because at the end, Charles V went with a completely different

Difference Between Polyp And Medusa
Introduction
In this practical assignment I will discuss what are the morphological differences between a polyp and
medusa and how does the respective morphology affect the ecology of these body forms. I will
construct a hypothesis, write down my results, I will have a discussion and there after a conclusion.
My hypothesis I that morphological differences between polyp and medusa will give them different
ecological roles.
Discussion
According to (Miller and Harley, 2016, p157) many cnidarians have two body forms, namely polyp
and medusa. Polyps are usually sessile, they attach to substrates like rocks at their aboral end (the end
furthest form the mouth). They have a cylindrical body shape, they do not possess gonads, while
cnidarians are in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to (Foundation, n.d.) most jellyfish feed on crustaceans (crayfish, shrimp), but many also
consume plankton, other invertebrates, fish eggs and larvae. Species that consume fish eggs and larvae
can sometimes have an impact on the human and other predator s food supply by causing low fish
population levels. This can be extreme when large swarms of jellyfish are present. Next, I will
describe anthozoan ecology. Anthozoans are mostly found in reefs (shallow regens in warm tropical
oceans). According (Anon, n.d.) coral reefs consist of many cnidarians, they also say that coral reefs
are home to a large biodiversity. Coral reefs plays a role in breeding for many species. It is also said
that cnidarians can form symbiotic relationships with microorganisms such as algae. The algae lives in
the coral body, they photosynthesis and produce oxygen and other substances which the coral can use
as nutrients. Finally, I will describe hydrozoan ecology. According (Foundation, n.d.) hydrozoans live
in almost all aquatic environments. Many polyps form symbiotic relationships with microorganisms
(algae) that live inside them or with larger organisms such as crustaceans (crabs, lobsters, shrimps
etc.) they are

The Iranian nuclear program began in the 1950 s under the Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi. The Shah

At this time the United States and the rest of the world believed that Iran was interested in nuclear

once home, I went over all the things I would need while gone. Everything seemed to be in order, so I

Albert Gonzalez sent a malware software named packet sniffer to a friend in Ukraine and that person

Language Presentation In Tamburlaine
The prologues to the two parts of Tamburlaine are direct addresses to the audience. The first promises
a new form of drama, elevated in tone and free from the devices and improvisations of professional
actors, and the second proudly points to the great success which that new form had had with the first
audience: The most obvious reason for the success of Tamburlaine was the surprise and delight with
which Marlowe s style was received, a style which has often been analysed, praised, and criticised in
the same time. The blank verse line with its variations in pace and rhythm, the beauty of the language
filled with sonorous place names and words expressing colour, light, and space, the long sentences,
abounding in hyperbole and imagery from classical mythology were the source from which the rich
variety of Elizabethan dramatic blank verse was to flow. In Introduction to Christopher Marlowe,
Tamburlaine, it is stated that the characteristic speech in Tamburlaine is the exhortation (a special type
of deliberative oration), and the plot is arranged so that it should produce scene after scene in which

Explicit self presentation occurs when a figure consciously outlines its picture of itself and this may
happen in the context of either monologue or dialogue. The information received from the character in

The Automotive Industry Is Characterised By High Levels Of...
The automotive industry is characterised by high levels of uncertainty, creating difficulties for
companies to follow prescriptive strategies. Many factors contribute to this unpredictability.
Pertinently, the financial crisis created instability: between 2008 2009 the Western automobile market
worth fell by $300billion. Damaging profitability and cash flows, creating excess supply. In 2007
worldwide production capacity of cars was over 70million although demand was less than 60million
(De Moraes, 2016).
Growing environmental concern and pressures for car companies to undertake sustainable practices
has led to uncertainty (De Moraes, 2016). Movement in regulation and consumer preferences towards
environmentally friendly production has a cost burden (Hirsh, Kakkar, Singh and Wilk, 2015).
Encouraging companies to misrepresent data; Volkswagen falsified emissions tests (The Economist,
2015a).
Natural resource prices driven by regulative forces external to the automotive industry are another
source of uncertainty; 2009 onwards saw spiralling fuel prices, increasing the cost of manufacturing
and decreasing demand for vehicles (De Moraes, 2016). Conversely, current oil prices are
plummeting. When oil prices were high, consumers purchased economical vehicles. However, lower
prices have renewed demand for fuel inefficient larger cars. These cyclical trends foster demand
uncertainties (The Economist, 2014).
Car industries are domestically important, providing employment,

Mathematics Is Essential For Life
Mathematics is essential in life. College algebra is a mathematical concept that is currently being used
in biomedical, mathematical, physics, and computer science degrees. This subject is considered the
foundation for advanced mathematical courses. Students typically pursue a University degree in order
to get a decent job after graduation; however, once hired, they are deficient in able to solve complex
problems. This is due because of their lack of ability to use logical thinking. College algebra may be
complex for some, but if one trains our brain to solve complex problems we will be able to succeed in
the real world. From personal experience, college algebra is known to be a basic in order to receive a
mathematical degree. With that said, without the rules of exponents and algebraic property, we would
not be able to solve problems in our future math classes. Society must be taught algebra concepts as a
basic course in the University in order to be able to solve higher order thinking problems within their
life, not just within math itself. In recent studies, students were interviewed to see how Algebra
influenced their attitudes towards mathematics in their careers. According to Joe Champion, a study
was made to identify the degree to which college algebra students value mathematical skills in their
future careers (2010). Besides content knowledge in mathematics, the following skills: inquiry, critical
and creative thinking, are necessary to understand quantitative

Las Vegas Advertising Campaign
Approximately 5.9 million people traveled to Las Vegas last year to attend a convention. Thanks to the
roughly 150,00 rooms in the city designed to house individuals, it s no wonder this place remains a
great option for any organization looking to bring a large group of people together for a trade show,
convention or other major event. Companies need to take advantage of this and make use of
convention and trade show advertising in Las Vegas. With the help of Las Vegas Convention
Advertising, any business can maximize their marketing dollars. Why are mobile billboards often the
preferred advertising method in this situation? With the help of mobile billboards, advertising to Las
Vegas convention attendees has never been easier. The billboards may be used to introduce a brand to
hundreds of thousands of individuals in a short period. This promotion is targeted to specific
industries, based on which conventions are being held in the city that week. Mobile billboards come in
the form of mobile truck advertising, street teams, walking billboards and mobile digital advertising. It

The Use Of Diction In Oedipus The King
King uses controlling diction and animalizes Jack to illustrate his anxiety in dealing with the
resurgence of the wasps, further characterizing Jack as an unstable man who threatens his family s
wellbeing through his lack of stereotypical masculinity. King animalizes Jack by constantly comparing
his behavior with that of a tiger, a stereotypically savage wild animal, indifferent to the emotions of
the persons surrounding them. Through Jack s response to the rediscovery of wasps in Danny s room,
King reinforces Jack s animalistic state of mind, as illustrated in his explosive reaction, Shut the fuck
up and kill them! he roared (King 133). By having Jack roar out in retaliation to the wasps, King

As opposed to a relaxed, more manly reaction to his son being swarmed by wasps, Jack immediately
panics in the face of danger and fails to keep his outer shell of masculinity on in such a high stress
period of time. He screams out commands at his wife, Kill them! ... Will you do what I say! (King
133), and fails to deal with the problem himself, as he quickly abandons Wendy and Danny inside the
bedroom, leaving Wendy to settle the wasp situation on her own. By implementing this commanding
diction, King fully strips Jack of his masculinity, and reveals his true character as a deranged danger to
the welfare of his family. In addition to illustrating Jack s severe lack of stereotypically manly traits,
controlling diction is also used by King to expose a authority seeking facet of Jack s personality that is
ultimately broken down by the reappearance of the wasps. As displayed through Jack ordering his
wife, Jack is throwing together a last ditch effort to maintain control over his family, as a real man
would. Instead of holding a level of authority over his family through ordering phrases such as get a

Coercive Acts and Quebec Act
Coercive Acts and Quebec Act The Coercive Acts and the Quebec Acts were British responses to
actions that were taking place in the British colonies in America. The Coercive Acts were a series of
four acts passed during the spring of 1774. The Boston Port Act closed the port of Boston until the
people paid for all the tea that was thrown overboard during the Boston Tea Party. The amount of tea
thrown over was equal to more than seven hundred thousand dollars in the year 2007. Parliament also
passed a new Quartering Act, which allowed British troops to stay in the homes of the people of
Boston whenever they felt needed. The Administration of Justice Act allowed British officials and

You can see how this would upset the colonist. The Quebec Act is the straw that broke the camels
back from an outsider sviewpoint. Quebec is allowed to rule themselves however the colonies rules
are not even coherent with the laws and rules of their governing body the Empire of England. Why
should one group of people be allowed to live their life how they seem fit when another group in the
same is is not allowed to do the same? This is not good business on the part of England and I can see
looking from an outsider s viewpoint how the colonies would be enraged by this. Business is tough to
do from a distance in the year 2009. In the 1700s when these laws were passed business must have
been pretty close to impossible to do over the Atlantic ocean with the only way to communicate is
through letter that is carried by a ship. When Britain gave freedom to Quebec the smart move would
have been to also grant the same rights to the American Colonies. Britain did not choose to do the
smart move and it cost them in war which ended up with Americans winning that right. Once a child is
old enough to stand on his own, let him stand. Once he is old enough to make a living for him let him

Differences Between Class Inequalities In Income And Wealth
Fourthly, class is a complex issue, when looking at the history of the U.K. This concept being used
since the nineteenth century describing differences between social groupings and how society in
Britain operates. Conversely, within the Making Lives Strand Bauman argues People are preoccupied
now not with Class, but with personal taste and individuality Bauman, Z, (1988) cited in Hetherington
K, and Havard C. (2014 pg. 139). Yet systematic patterns of class can still be seen today, being used to
judge and label people as in our industrial past. As Arnold, M. (1869) cited in Institute for policy
studies (2016) is quoted, Our inequality materializes our upper class, vulgarizes our middle class,
brutalizes our lower class with class seen as a process of social stratification, based upon differences
in occupations, income, wealth and power and one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, Clarke indicates, Class inequalities in income and wealth have not only persisted over
time, but have deepened, both in the U.K. and Globally . (Clarke J. 2014, p. 384).
In conclusion, this essay considered the three module questions and the two chosen strands, discussing
how differences and inequalities are linked and seen persisting over time and how they are interrelated
when looking at examples from Consumerism, Wealth, Homelessness and Class. Concluding that
differences and inequalities in Britain are at an all time high continuing to be made and remade in
unequal ways not only within the U.K. but Globally. Consequently, with poverty levels rising it can be
inferred that increasing numbers of people will be left poor some with their most basic needs unmet
whilst the top percent of society will continue to see their share of global resources increase.
Therefore, inequality is now a global issue because the distribution of equal valued resources does not
exist and thus differences and inequalities will continue to persist over time to the detriment of us

Should High School Athletes be Drug Tested?
When it come to drugs now in 2016, there are many people around us that we don t know are using
them. Sports such as, tennis, soccer, basketball, football ,etc. are definitely competitive. There is an
absolute necessity for schools to include drug testing programs for the safety and fairness of their
students, but one of the problems schools face if the lack of funds.
Most children and teens have strive to be the best they can be and often look up at their inspiration,
who they aspire to be. And while most teen athletes decide to reach their goal through hard work,
time, and dedication, some decide to take a sort of easy way and turn to performance enhancing drugs
.
Throughout history many star athletes have died and had health issues as a result of performance
enhancing drugs , some who weren t aware of the health consequences, Such as a case in Nov 1, 2007,
in which 52 German athletes were given anabolic steroids for 10 years without their knowledge or

Pros And Cons Of Composite Restorations
I would hope that when a dentist watches a video like I saw, red flags would be waving violently in
their mind with some of the opinions displayed. Let s recap. Three dentists walk into a bar... sorry,
walk out of a lecture on tooth colored restorations. After coming together, the three dentists had
radically differing personal views on composite restorations. I couldn t help but compare the situation
between Doctors Bently, Cruz, and Godwin to a situation every car owner in America faces often.
Choosing between a conventional motor oil and a fancy synthetic oil in front of a mechanic or sales
person has many similarities to choosing between the silver fox of fillings, amalgam, and the newer
tooth colored composite fillings in front of a dentist. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example is Dr. Bentley, who in the film has many eye rolling opinions and even some ethical
breaches. Dr. Bentley is the mechanic that will only put synthetic oil your car. She thinks that
synthetic oil should always replace conventional oil, only wants the upscale market , and will even
swindle you into thinking synthetic oil always has the advantage, even though she knows it might not
be necessary for your car. Nonmaleficence is an ethical principle of doing no harm. If your amalgam
filling, unattractive as it may be, is still serving the tooth well, then nonmaleficence tells us don t
replace perfectly working amalgams with composite just because it is more modern. What about
catering only to the upscale market? That s a justice offense. What about other patients. Do they not
deserve to have their lower end treatments at your boutique office? The worst ethical principle offense
from Dr. Bentley is with veracity. She outright decrees that she only discusses the advantages of
composite, understands that doing composites means she can do more of them due to reduced
longevity, and hits unconvinced patients with that ubiquitous if you were my family tag line to trigger
an emotional decision in the doctor s

Analysis Of The Swimmer By John Cheever
John Cheever s writing always reflected his own life in some aspect. In one work he has called
Expelled He tells the story of how he did get expelled from school in detail. In some way Cheever
interprets his own personal experiences into the characters of his stories. In one specific short story,
The Swimmer , Cheever uses the the character Ned s experience to symbolize life. Although it is a
short story, the essence of time in the work is directly related to an entire lifetime. Through the course
of the story there are different emotions represented by the changing of seasons, colors, temperature,
nature, and also people. In The Swimmer . Ned s experience directly correlates to John Cheever s idea
of life.
The Swimmer follows the character Ned through his attempt to swim the county as he swims across
multiple families pools. He does this and also speaks with many people at the houses parties and also
drinks throughout the journey. Ned experiences different and fatigued emotions as well as physical
fatigue. It is midsummer as this journey takes place and the seasons begin to change from summer to
autumn. At the end of his journey he reaches his home which turns out to be empty. Specifically when
Ned was wet from swimming he sensed a storm coming and took shelter in a gazebo. It is in this
instance that he realizes the change of the seasons. The rain had cooled the air and he shivered. The

Why Is Django Unchained
The film Django Unchained directed by Quentin Tarantino is a distinguished cinema following a

find his one true love. I chose this movie because it is a western epic about returning to your true love
after being forcefully separated. Also because Quentin Tarantino makes excellent movies and I saw a

the role of Jules Winnfield in the 1994 classic Pulp Fiction. In Pulp Fiction Jules Winnfield is part of a

Analysis Of Andy Warhol s Pop-Art
Art is one of the few things in the world that has a different criterion for everyone. Some prefer to
judge the techniques and details within each piece, but some would rather judge the perplexity of the
meaning behind each symbolism within an artwork. However, not all are divided by this fine line. Hap
from The Soul of Capitalism would be a part of the third group of people, the ones that appreciate
complicated techniques while looking behind the canvas to appreciate the meaning of an artwork.
Comparatively, the Canadians from When Canada Met Andy had the same perspective as Hap.
Although Hap will not favour or properly interpret Andy Warhol s Pop Art , he will be able to
appreciate the work that Warhol put into his art. As we begin The Soul of Capitalism , it reveals that
Hap and her wife are art lovers in a traditional way. (1) Yet, Warhol s Small Torn Campbell s Soup
Can (figure 2) is leagues away from traditional. Hap concerns himself with landscapes and seascapes,
and the portraits and battle scenes (19), pieces that involve many complications and exhaustive details.
Unlike Warhol s box sculpture of a Del Monte carton which lacks the sophistication that traditional art
offers. Axel is able to draw out this conclusion, and for that reason he gives them a detailed drawing of
a corn head (4) rather than one of his more abstract and modern works. Not only does it lack tradition

It should be noted that on page 61, when the story transitions to 1949, there s a jarring sense like one
is watching a different film. Eventually, this feeling fades. For the most part, the plot and series of
sequences feel easy to follow until the midpoint and then around page 75. This is when stronger
confusion emerges.
One thinks the story is back to the point before Danny found the stones. The narrative description
says: heading to the chateau, about to find the stones. However, then Danny is suddenly back in the
Ford with the Twins. This makes the audience feel lost. Try to clarify this.
Also, in the climax battle, when Danny is supposedly dead, the story feels dominated by Gabrielle and
Frank, rather than our hero.
What does work nicely is the scene in which it appears that Danny is trying to save Rose, but he slips
the ring off her finger. It s a smart and very satisfying payoff.
On the other hand, Rose claiming she loves Danny and that he loves her, doesn t feel credible or
authentic. Rose definitely is seductive, but the dialogue doesn t fully ring true.
The ending is sweet and gratifying, although it might be challenging to convince the audience that just
after Gabrielle tells him about the death of Frank that he proposes. The issue or concern might be that
the audience isn t clear on the timeline and when his death

Essay on Judicial Activism Versus Judicial Restraint
Judicial Activism Vs. Judicial Restraint The debate between Judicial Activism and Judicial Restraint
really grabbed my attention. Judicial Activism and Judicial Restraint are two different ways to
interpret the constitution and its laws. Both interpretations have their own strengths and weaknesses,
which is why it is so hard to come to a final decision of which is acceptable and which is not (in most
cases). While at the debate I didn t realize how many cases have boiled down to these two concepts.
There have been many cases ended up being decided by both interpretations. I believe Judicial
Activism should be removed from the Supreme Court. The Original definition of Judicial Activism is
defined as a philosophy of judicial decision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stare Decisis plays a large role in Judicial Restraint. Stare Decisis is sticking to an established ruling
that was handed down by past judges or jurors. A form of judicial restraint is called the political
question doctrine, and it is significant in understanding this interpretation of the law. The political
question doctrine is when a court acknowledges that the constitution is violated but does not decide to
act. There are plenty of examples of Judicial Restraint throughout our history but the one that stands
out the most in my mind is Gore Vs. Bush. In this case the Florida supreme courts methods of
recounting the presidential ballots was considered and ruled as having violated the Equal Protection
Laws which is under the fourteenth amendment in a presidential election. Everyone seems to know
that something wrong was done, but no one really understands what happened. Before this debate I
didn t realize that this was an example of Judicial Restraint. And this is why I caint agree with either
interpretations of the law. Both of these interpretations are ways to go around the laws already set in
stone. I believe that there should be some type of law created to protect the constitution. I do not agree
with either interpretations and I believe that they are both wrong. These are examples of flaws in the
constitution that should be dealt with. As I listened to this debate I realized and understood more and

  • 2. Snow-Personal Narrative I stared out of the empty window, remembering my childhood and how happy I would be when snow would come. Now snow means winter and winter never fails to remind me of you. I remember the way you would laugh at every joke I would tell and how wide your smile would become when you heard about something you love or saw something beautiful. I blinked and was wide eyed into the snow. It was bright and seemed so beautiful, but cold to the touch. Kind of like a person. I moved away from the cold window and tied my hair up. The house was lonely but the warmth of the coffee and my sweatshirt made me feel cozy here. I liked the quietness and simplicity of the place. Yet, I still couldn t get you off of my mind, no matter how hard I try it was impossible. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I called Abby and told her to pick me up and bring her truck so we could load the wheelchair into the back. When we got home, she took care of me. I slept most of the time, but I didn t mind having her stay there and keep me healthy. She stayed with me for about a week, but she checked in every once in awhile. I wondered if my dad would worry about me at all. My legs and arm are hurting really bad at this point. The person who hit my car was a boy, who was only 15 years old and had just gotten his license. He felt very bad about it all, but I told him it was okay and that it was all my fault for being on my phone while driving. Soon the months went by like days, and my bones began to heal and stopped hurting so badly. The scratches on my face became scars. I hadn t been doing anything for a while and I was lonely. My dad had called once again, but I didn t pick up. Maybe I would feel better for a while if Abby came over. I invited her and she came right away. We drank hot tea, the way we liked it. We sat under blankets in the window seat, and stared into the snow for hours it seemed. I thought to myself, Everything will be okay, it s just going to take time. It will be okay at some ... • 3. Religious Freedom And Separation Of Church And State Essay After many frustrations and disputes arising out of the Commonwealth of Virginia, the termination of Bill Establishing A Provision for Teachers of Christian Religion and the new Virginia Statue for Religious Freedom mark a necessary and significant turn. The people of Virginia can finally savor the religious freedom that they longed for. I shall hereby applaud the efforts pushed forth by the honorable James Madison, Thomas Jefferson and so many others who shared the common stance on religious freedom and separation of church and state. However, the achievement seemed provincial when placed in the context of the larger United States. The new nation is at great stake because the congregational church in Massachusetts disallows and persecutes any deviation from its core religious interpretation; Jews are perceived as the enemies of the Christ by a large group of people; and the Catholic minority in many states still suffers. Therefore, absolute religious freedom and the separation of church and state shall be guaranteed in the new constitution in order to maintain the supremacy of God over the state and purity of the God we trust, annihilate the violence, persecution and tyrannies the God disdains, uphold the God given natural rights we once fought for and construct this blessed new nation to be free and prosperous. God is the divine creator of the universe whereas civil laws are the derivative of humankind. In other words, Christian Religion pre existed any form of state or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Persistence of Memory Alyssa Hankins Art 1300 Section 001 9 29 11 The Persistence of Memory Spain, 1931, Salvador Dali creates an abstract oil on canvas portrayal or the knowledge that is gained through ones dreams, visions, and intuition. The Persistence of Memory, 1931 portrays an abstract view of time and visions that Dali envisioned. Perhaps, his most famous work was The Persistence of Memory, which he painted in his younger years in the 30s. The Persistence of Memory, 1931, elevates the influence of the subconscious mind through fantasy like images, color, composition, and thought provoking images. Dali uses abstract images to represent a balance of altered views, conveying what is reality and what is from the mind s eye. Note the mysterious rugged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dali also used the use of two secretive elevated rectangular planes in the work which balance out the left side of the painting. A cold tree trunk standing on the largest elevated surface leads the viewer s eyes in a circle back to where focus began at. This stub is seemingly cold and lifeless, with one time piece hanging from its outstretched limb. Dali stimulates the spectator s mind, leading the individual on a subconscious escapade (as he initially intended during composition). The different abstract images shown in The Persistence of Memory, 1931, create a merry go round as each image leaves the observer in a state of wonder, drawing them in. The image of what seems to be some sort of shapeless human form brings about questions of the relevance of the images existence. Dali attempted to portray an insignificant self image in a world possessing a significant amount of more chaos and importance. These timepieces are intended to demonstrate the importance in daily living that time and measurement play in each individual s life. The melting watches are a profound representation that is frequently linked with hallucinations and surrealism. These images are used to convey an alternate sense of reality which takes place in human cognition, further guiding individuals away from the actuality of reality. In my opinion, Dali accurately portrays the human mind in the way that it views precisely what it favors. His extremely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Macbeth Is Entirely Responsible for His Own Demise Essay William Shakespeare s Macbeth is a tragedy about a war hero named Macbeth, who follows his ambition with evil and who is repaid with evil. He is responsible for his own demise although only to a certain extent. There were many other factors that contributed to the tragic that could have been avoided for example how the witches predictions are responsible for influencing Macbeth s thoughts although ultimately no one told Macbeth to kill Duncan. Lady Macbeth was also a very influential character which manipulated Macbeth into doing bad deeds however he is responsible for putting power into the hands of Lady Macbeth and letting her influence him. Macbeth was conscious that his thoughts are used for only [for] vaulting ambition and yet he does nothing to correct the situation of his thoughts. Macbeth s selfishness and reckless ambition lead him to his own demise. • 7. The Lemur and the Gibbon Essay Where did we come from? A question that will always be asked by every human on this planet. Some say that we are of God s creation and some say that we have gone through a long process called evolution and that humans and apes share a single common ancestor. Here I am going to compare and contrast between two of my favorite types of animals: The Lemur and the Gibbon. What is a Lemur? Ask someone that question and you ll be surprised how silly the answer may be. From being a fruit to a body part, it is sad how the general public does not know that the Lemur one of our oldest primates, an order which includes monkeys, apes, and us humans. They use their hands and tails to get from one tree to the other and they live in groups from 3 to 20. And the female lemur is dominant. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Lemurs are known to be very intelligent. They are highly adaptable to our climate and conditions. They eat a lot and try to get a bit fat before the harsh winter arrives. And they have a cool excellent sense of balance. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; But since humans arrived in Madagascar some 1,500 years ago they have been endangered. Sixteen different species of lemurs have gone extinct because of habitat destruction to hunting by humans. I personally think its very unfair because these gentle non aggressive animals were their before humans and even before monkeys. Prosimians first appeared about 55 million years ago while apes been around for only 35 million years. In 1987, World Wildlife International declared that the lemurs are the most gravely endangered group of primates in the world. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The Gibbon is a truly unique animal. Gibbons are anthropoids like humans and gorillas. They look somewhat like the Lemur but it has special features that make it different from the Lemur. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Gibbons apes come from Southeast Asia and the island of the Philippines. Seventeen years later, all of my older children were lined up at the front of the church, with the minister in the middle, along with the siblings of their soon to be husbands. My oldest daughters wanted to get married at the same time, and no amount of fatherly persuasion could convince them otherwise, so I walked both of them down the aisle at the same time, one on the right arm, and the other on the left. My younger children carried and threw flower petals, or carried the rings, and other ceremonial portions of the service. More than anything, I was simply praying that my daughters would be serious enough not to pull any pranks during the service, or for one of them to catch fire during the service as one of the men of honor had done the night of dress rehearsals when he backed into a lit candle and his mullet ignited. Our minister knew these two girls, plus their 12 other biological siblings, and the half dozen other adopted children my wife and I raised, and at times buried. The minister who performed their dedication in infancy was also the same one who was about to perform the marriage, and he knew my kids penchant for creative mischief, but all of them had sworn to be on their best behavior and all of them of course promised that there would be no pranks at their own weddings. • 9. The Effect of Violence in the Media on the Minds of... At an undeveloped age, adolescents minds are similar to sponges, they absorb everything they see or hear, picking up on everything. However, we continue to let our youngsters watch the corruption, viciousness, and the unsuitable linguistics frequently originated in the media today, but we don t turn and blame ourselves, we blame the media they cultured it from. Why? As parents it s our responsibility to filter what our children are exposed to. The media doesn t force the violence on the young children, but they are setting standards for what children may think is ordinary behavior or language. (Felson) Violence is found in almost everything anymore, regardless of the movie, show or video games. There is some type of violence involved, and it s almost becoming normal . (Felson) With forcefulness being observed in animations, sports, sitcoms and dramas, it s likely to make children believe that this type of behavior is adequate. Psychologists have discovered that elevated exposure of violent video games can be linked to delinquency, fighting at school, during play time, as well as brutal criminal actions . (Felson) Although, it isn t only the violence on the television that is to blame for portraying the violent behavior. All over the world, media is influencing our behavior. Do you believe it s as powerful and influencing as many say it is? Without a doubt, the influence of media has been proven to affect our behavior. Szpilman is a pianist who was playing for a Warsaw radio station when the first German bombs fell. Once World War ll begins Szpilman and his family are forced to live in the Warsaw ghetto, but he is later separated from them. At this time Warsaw is surrounded with German soldiers and from this time up until the concentration camp prisoners are released. Hiding in abandoned, run down building Szpilman struggles to survive. Lighting paired with the overall colour scheme leads the viewers to believe that something not so good may occur soon. Sure enough, this is the scene when the first German bombs are dropped in Warsaw 1939. From here on up until the turning point of the film the lighting is very dark. I think that this is very important, as Polanski has done this in order to exaggerate and evoke emotion within the audience. Another symbolic scene is when Szpilman is hiding in an old abandon building he is approached by a German officer called Wilm Hosenfeld. Hosenfeld orders Szpilman to play the piano, and at this time Hosenfeld s appearance is strong as we see in a close up of Hosenfeld. The room is dark with grey lighting and Szpilman is thin, wearing frayed dark clothing, he has blended in with the lighting and background. But as Szpilman begins to play the piano, a veil of light shines on him. The veil of light then shifts onto Szpilman which portrays him metaphorically as an angel, conveying that he is in a position of power, rather than Hosenfeld, who previously was. This scene in particular with the light on Szpilman is a significant point in the film because it is the turning point. Szpilman is weak, thin and the lighting leading up to this scene is dark, then after this scene the lighting begins to brighten as well as Szpilman s life. • 11. Brainbow Essay Brainbow is a powerful tool used to visualize microscopic biological systems like cells, tissues and organelles for the purpose of studies. During histogenesis of the nervous system, neurons beget neurons as well as glia which proliferate, divide, migrate and differentiate. However due to their microscopic nature, similarity as well as proximity to each other, tracing their lineages, path of migration and final destination becomes complex and makes their study almost impossible. This puzzle was resolved after the discovery of color (green fluorescent) expressing genes Aequorea victoria (Shimomura et al.1962), which is capable of visualizing cells, tissues organelles and their interactions (pioneered by Chalfie et al. 1994) based on distinctive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Based on this analogy, multiple fluorescent genes can be genetically engineered to express varying fluorescent proteins making each closely related neuron as unique as possible. One efficient technique utilized in making a brainbow mouse is the Cre/lox based recombination technique which yields pattern of protein expression of different colors. It has alternative means like recombinase mediated DNA excision based/ inversion based both of which combine to produce about four different combinations of genes compared to other techniques. In the recombinase mediated DNA excision, three unique FPs are arranged in order along with two pairs of Cre recombinase recognition site (Lox site) in between two of the FPs in the transgene. Identical pairs of the two recognition sites can only be detected by Cre. Prior to recombination, the first color (default) is expressed. After recombination, one of the FPs is expressed from what has now become a cassette . In the Invertion based brainbow however, homogeneous pair of recognition sites are placed to face each other. The interspaced DNA is inverted by Cre. With two FPs aligned anteriorly, the inversion causes one of the FPs to be expressed (Livet et al. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although the historical events that inspired its creation are well known, there are still many aspects of the tapestry that remain a mystery and a range of theories to explain certain contested phenomena. There is still discrepancy over the basic facts of the tapestry such as where it was made, and who even commissioned it. However, one aspect that has many interpretations are the borders surrounding the main narrative. The borders stretch, uninterrupted, above and below the main scene for almost the whole length of the tapestry. In the Fox and Crow, the crow found a piece of cheese, but the fox tricked him into dropping it and ate it himself. Some see this interaction from a pro Norman point of view. In it, William of Normandy is the crow and the cheese is his claim to the crown. Harold is the conniving fox who tricks William by going around his back and asking King Edward for the crown, even after he had sworn an oath to William on sacred relics. Others see it with a pro English point of view. In this reading the cheese is still the claim to the English throne, but now Harold is the crow. He rightly acquired the crown from King Edward on his deathbed and now William is being the sneaky one, raising an army in secret and coming to take the cheese back. In The Narrative Art of the Bayeux Tapestry Master, John McNulty has two separate readings of the fables that link together. First, he believes that all the eight canonical fables work together to convey to the viewer the main themes of the narrative and that they supply a carefully attuned commentary on the main story. Expressions of how these Europeans felt about the Native Americans varied from barbarians to people who needed a little bit of guidance. Commenced by Charles V, the Valladolid debate made up of philosopher Juan Gines De Sepulveda and priest Bartolome De Las Casas, expressed the views of these two men of the indigenous people of the Americas. Juan Gines De Sepulveda felt as if it were the right of the Spaniards to claim dominance of the Native Americans and their lands. However, priest Bartolome De Las Casas refutes this argument, saying that these Indians are capable of great opportunities. De Las Casas also argues that with the help of the Spanish, these Native Americans can be taught to be Christians living in a modern social environment. Sepulveda saw these natives as animals or half human while De La Casas described them as humble and patient human beings. From a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is easy to perceive that De Las Casas was right because of his passion for freedom and injustice. If the debate of Valladolid were still happening today, perhaps a revolution would ignite civil wars, or division of state. By analyzing the views of Juan Gines de Sepulveda and Bartolome de Las Casas it is evident that people had mixed emotions of these Native Americans. In conclusion, De Las Casas and Sepulveda saw the Amerindians from two whole different perspectives. • 15. Difference Between Polyp And Medusa Introduction In this practical assignment I will discuss what are the morphological differences between a polyp and medusa and how does the respective morphology affect the ecology of these body forms. I will construct a hypothesis, write down my results, I will have a discussion and there after a conclusion. My hypothesis I that morphological differences between polyp and medusa will give them different ecological roles. Discussion According to (Miller and Harley, 2016, p157) many cnidarians have two body forms, namely polyp and medusa. Polyps are usually sessile, they attach to substrates like rocks at their aboral end (the end furthest form the mouth). They have a cylindrical body shape, they do not possess gonads, while cnidarians are in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to (Foundation, n.d.) most jellyfish feed on crustaceans (crayfish, shrimp), but many also consume plankton, other invertebrates, fish eggs and larvae. Species that consume fish eggs and larvae can sometimes have an impact on the human and other predator s food supply by causing low fish population levels. This can be extreme when large swarms of jellyfish are present. Next, I will describe anthozoan ecology. Anthozoans are mostly found in reefs (shallow regens in warm tropical oceans). According (Anon, n.d.) coral reefs consist of many cnidarians, they also say that coral reefs are home to a large biodiversity. Coral reefs plays a role in breeding for many species. It is also said that cnidarians can form symbiotic relationships with microorganisms such as algae. The algae lives in the coral body, they photosynthesis and produce oxygen and other substances which the coral can use as nutrients. Finally, I will describe hydrozoan ecology. The first promises a new form of drama, elevated in tone and free from the devices and improvisations of professional actors, and the second proudly points to the great success which that new form had had with the first audience: The most obvious reason for the success of Tamburlaine was the surprise and delight with which Marlowe s style was received, a style which has often been analysed, praised, and criticised in the same time. The blank verse line with its variations in pace and rhythm, the beauty of the language filled with sonorous place names and words expressing colour, light, and space, the long sentences, abounding in hyperbole and imagery from classical mythology were the source from which the rich variety of Elizabethan dramatic blank verse was to flow. The automotive industry is characterised by high levels of uncertainty, creating difficulties for companies to follow prescriptive strategies. Many factors contribute to this unpredictability. Pertinently, the financial crisis created instability: between 2008 2009 the Western automobile market worth fell by $300billion. Damaging profitability and cash flows, creating excess supply. In 2007 worldwide production capacity of cars was over 70million although demand was less than 60million (De Moraes, 2016). Growing environmental concern and pressures for car companies to undertake sustainable practices has led to uncertainty (De Moraes, 2016). Movement in regulation and consumer preferences towards environmentally friendly production has a cost burden (Hirsh, Kakkar, Singh and Wilk, 2015). Encouraging companies to misrepresent data; Volkswagen falsified emissions tests (The Economist, 2015a). Natural resource prices driven by regulative forces external to the automotive industry are another source of uncertainty; 2009 onwards saw spiralling fuel prices, increasing the cost of manufacturing and decreasing demand for vehicles (De Moraes, 2016). Conversely, current oil prices are plummeting. When oil prices were high, consumers purchased economical vehicles. However, lower prices have renewed demand for fuel inefficient larger cars. College algebra is a mathematical concept that is currently being used in biomedical, mathematical, physics, and computer science degrees. This subject is considered the foundation for advanced mathematical courses. Students typically pursue a University degree in order to get a decent job after graduation; however, once hired, they are deficient in able to solve complex problems. This is due because of their lack of ability to use logical thinking. College algebra may be complex for some, but if one trains our brain to solve complex problems we will be able to succeed in the real world. From personal experience, college algebra is known to be a basic in order to receive a mathematical degree. With that said, without the rules of exponents and algebraic property, we would not be able to solve problems in our future math classes. Society must be taught algebra concepts as a basic course in the University in order to be able to solve higher order thinking problems within their life, not just within math itself. In recent studies, students were interviewed to see how Algebra influenced their attitudes towards mathematics in their careers. • 34. Cs Lewis Accomplishments C.S. Lewis when he was a small boy, endured a tragedy no nine year old should ever have to go through that led to a tragic loss of faith and family. C.S. Lewis was born in Belfast, Ireland in 1898 and grew up being a normal child. One of Lewis s greatest accomplishments is writing the world famous Chronicles of Narnia series. C.S. Lewis is known today as a brilliant author, an amazing thinker, and a faithful Christian. C.S.lewis had a very normal childhood, he was born in Belfast Ireland, a small beautiful town and loved living there. He lived with his father Albert, his mother Florence, and his brother Warren. When he was small he would play pretend with his brother, which stimulated his imagination from a young age. He was writing detailed stories about imaginary creatures when he was only seven years old. All this changed in 1908, when he was nine years old his mother died from abdominal cancer. His Father withdrew, sending him to boarding school. The school was boring, had a terrible curriculum, and the students were not treated well. After the terrible school his father decided to set him up with a tutor. Lewis lived with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 35. What Is The Purpose Of The Black Cat THE BLACK CAT is an original sci fi, time travel, action thriller. There is also a compelling and timeless romance story that is skillfully interwoven throughout the script. The script offers a thoughtful visionary and cautionary world that explores solid moral questions about changing our past, present, and future. At the core of the plot is a fascinating and complex hero, Danny. Aptly known as the Black Cat, who can see in the darkness, he drives this story. The plot centers on the battle and struggle over control of our destiny. Stones hold the key to changing the past and future. Danny is clearly the rouge hero, who battles a worthy adversary in Rose, who wants to control everyone s destiny. They are compelling opponents battling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It should be noted that on page 61, when the story transitions to 1949, there s a jarring sense like one is watching a different film. Eventually, this feeling fades. For the most part, the plot and series of sequences feel easy to follow until the midpoint and then around page 75. This is when stronger confusion emerges. One thinks the story is back to the point before Danny found the stones. The narrative description says: heading to the chateau, about to find the stones. However, then Danny is suddenly back in the Ford with the Twins. This makes the audience feel lost. Try to clarify this. Also, in the climax battle, when Danny is supposedly dead, the story feels dominated by Gabrielle and Frank, rather than our hero. What does work nicely is the scene in which it appears that Danny is trying to save Rose, but he slips the ring off her finger. It s a smart and very satisfying payoff. On the other hand, Rose claiming she loves Danny and that he loves her, doesn t feel credible or authentic. Rose definitely is seductive, but the dialogue doesn t fully ring true. The ending is sweet and gratifying, although it might be challenging to convince the audience that just after Gabrielle tells him about the death of Frank that he proposes. The issue or concern might be that the audience isn t clear on the timeline and when his death ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Essay on Judicial Activism Versus Judicial Restraint Judicial Activism Vs. Judicial Restraint The debate between Judicial Activism and Judicial Restraint really grabbed my attention. Judicial Activism and Judicial Restraint are two different ways to interpret the constitution and its laws. Both interpretations have their own strengths and weaknesses, which is why it is so hard to come to a final decision of which is acceptable and which is not (in most cases). While at the debate I didn t realize how many cases have boiled down to these two concepts. There have been many cases ended up being decided by both interpretations. I believe Judicial Activism should be removed from the Supreme Court. The Original definition of Judicial Activism is defined as a philosophy of judicial decision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stare Decisis plays a large role in Judicial Restraint. Stare Decisis is sticking to an established ruling that was handed down by past judges or jurors. A form of judicial restraint is called the political question doctrine, and it is significant in understanding this interpretation of the law. The political question doctrine is when a court acknowledges that the constitution is violated but does not decide to act. There are plenty of examples of Judicial Restraint throughout our history but the one that stands out the most in my mind is Gore Vs. Bush. In this case the Florida supreme courts methods of recounting the presidential ballots was considered and ruled as having violated the Equal Protection Laws which is under the fourteenth amendment in a presidential election. Everyone seems to know that something wrong was done, but no one really understands what happened. Before this debate I didn t realize that this was an example of Judicial Restraint. And this is why I caint agree with either interpretations of the law. Both of these interpretations are ways to go around the laws already set in stone. I believe that there should be some type of law created to protect the constitution. I do not agree with either interpretations and I believe that they are both wrong. These are examples of flaws in the constitution that should be dealt with. As I listened to this debate I realized and understood more and more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
