Requiem For A Dream was chosen as the inspiration for remaking Ecstasy because it addresses the same theme of depicting the negative effects of drug use without being cheap. The director of Requiem For A Dream uses techniques like unique lighting and sound that makes drug use seem different from everyday life, which is what the group wanted to achieve. Drawing from Requiem For A Dream's style allowed the group to widen their shots and direct in different styles to successfully show drug use and addiction in a suspenseful yet not cheap way, aligning with the themes of both films.

3. We have chosen Requiem For A Dream as our inspiration towards out
re-make of Ecstasy due to this film having the same theme as our own.
This film successfully shows drug taking and the side effects of using
drugs in a way which we do not class as cheap, which is how I would
describe our way of showing drug use in our first version of Ecstasy.
Successfully trying to show drug use without making it really cheap and
obvious to create more suspense was hard, however remembering the
film Requiem For A Dream and the way the director shows drug use, in
such a snapshot, way with different sound effects and lighting than the
original film, makes the drug use seem completely different to usual
day life, which is what we wanted to achieve as a group. Being inspired
by Requiem For A Dream really gave us a chance to work in styles of
different directors and widened our shots we made and how they were
completed.
This film had relevance to what we wanted to display in our film as we
needed to show the negative effect of drugs, however in a more Horror
like way, which is like the theme of Requiem For A Dream as the reason
behind the film is the negative effects of drug addiction, like our own
theme.
