The document discusses the design choices made for a digipak album cover and inserts. 2. Front Cover
The cover includes a picture of the artist, the name of the artist and
the album - this are the usual conventions of all CD covers. I made
sure that the text was legible, and centred on the left-hand side so
that audience could see the name and the artist could be identified
when it is displayed in a shop. The photo is taken from my music
video, I did this because I wanted continuity between the music
video, poster and music video. The frame used, originally had
lampposts, plants and a shed in the background, which I edited out
with the use of the clone tool on Photoshop. I moved the artist onto
the right side of the frame, and changed it to black and white. I chose
black and white because it gives a sense of mystery, also the fact the
artist is looking down, and away, also gives a sense of mystery to the
audience. I chose to do this for this reason because I wanted the
audience to be intrigued by this sense of mystery, the fact the artist
is sad, not looking directly at the camera and is facing away helps
draw the audience in. It doesn’t just convey the sense of mystery of
the artist, but also the mystery of her music.

3. Inside
The inside cover of a music video is usually either another picture of
the artist, or a message from the artist. For mine, I chose to have a
picture of the location the artist is positioned on the CD, with a
quote from said artist. The message addresses the audience, so that
the artist can have a relationship with them. The picture has been
editing in the same way as the cover, with a black and white filter,
however the signs that read “No Ball Games” and “Danger Fragile
Roofs,” have been left in their standard red to give a element of
mystery and darkness to the artist. Especially danger, because in the
artist’s statements she talks about how it felt for her to dive into the
music career, and the red signs can how scared she truly was. This
makes the audience connect with the artist on a more personal level.

4. Inside
The location of the picture for the artist on the DVD is the same
place as the inside cover, but this time only a section is shown. The
Artist takes up the left side, which is the first thing people will see.
Then, the sign “Danger Fragile Roofs,” is once again shown, with its
red letters standing out on the black and white background. The
artist is looking directly at the camera, which means she is looking at
her audience, which gives them an artist/audience connection. The
artist’s name and album title in on the right hand side, with the
copyright text underneath.
