7 steps to coaching agile non software development teamsEduardo Nofuentes
This is the pack we used during our session at LAST Conference in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane in 2017. We outlined the 7 steps approach we use at The Agile Eleven to coach agile non-software development teams.
Since the publication of the Agile Manifesto in 2001, Agile has grown to be the standard practice for the software development industry and teams around the globe. Seeing the success of this approach, other areas of the business are looking to adopt it; but…how do you “run agile” in non-software development teams? How do you apply the Agile principles and tools to an Operations, Sales or an HR team? And more importantly, how does your business achieve Business Agility as a whole?

Understanding User Needs and Satisfying ThemAggregage
https://www.productmanagementtoday.com/frs/26903918/understanding-user-needs-and-satisfying-them
We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. There are three challenges we face when doing this. The obvious challenge is figuring out what our users need; the non-obvious challenges are in creating a shared understanding of those needs and in sensing if what we're doing is meeting those needs.
In this webinar, we won't focus on the research methods for discovering user-needs. We will focus on synthesis of the needs we discover, communication and alignment tools, and how we operationalize addressing those needs.
Industry expert Scott Sehlhorst will:
• Introduce a taxonomy for user goals with real world examples
• Present the Onion Diagram, a tool for contextualizing task-level goals
• Illustrate how customer journey maps capture activity-level and task-level goals
• Demonstrate the best approach to selection and prioritization of user-goals to address
• Highlight the crucial benchmarks, observable changes, in ensuring fulfillment of customer needs

In the Adani-Hindenburg case, what is SEBI investigating.pptxAdani case
Adani SEBI investigation revealed that the latter had sought information from five foreign jurisdictions concerning the holdings of the firm’s foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) in relation to the alleged violations of the MPS Regulations. Nevertheless, the economic interest of the twelve FPIs based in tax haven jurisdictions still needs to be determined. The Adani Group firms classed these FPIs as public shareholders. According to Hindenburg, FPIs were used to get around regulatory standards.

● Organisation: policies, people and processes for remote working
● Teams: relying on values to promote the right behaviours
● Individuals: a shift in mindset to create value beyond 9-5
What we will explore today:
8. @theagileeleven
Organisation
The formal stuff: cracking the code of remote working without compromising your
culture
Remote working
1. Policy: create a temporary or draft
working-from-home policy.
1. Guidelines: at The Agile Eleven, we
have a "How We Roll" Culture Deck: this
ensures we have strong vision, vague
policy and a strong focus on employee
freedom
1. Guiding principles: if drafting a policy
or guidelines seems to much, why not
focus on your top guiding principles?
Formal
9. @theagileeleven
Organisation
1) Policy: what to consider
Remote-working
policy
● Why: have a clear purpose for your policy.
Health & Safety is an obvious one.
● What: what remote working means
● Who:
○ who is eligible (some organisations
have to roster employees)
○ roles & responsibilities: the
organisation's commitment and
employees' responsibilities
● How: sick and annual leave, OH&S,
existing policies and any other
considerations when working remotely
11. @theagileeleven
Organisation
2) Guidelines: they are less formal and bring your culture to life
Working remote
guidelines
● Make them transparent
● Focus on what matters
● Outline your purpose, vision and values as
an organisation
● Make the 'implicit' explicit
● Explain how things should work: how to
solve things, make decisions, where to
connect systems, etc
● Refer your people to any existing policies
that still remain: anti-discrimination,
OH&S, etc
12. @theagileeleven
Organisation
3) Guiding principles: bringing agility to your remote workforce
Working remote
guiding principles
Guiding principles by Jeff Haden, Columnist at
Inc Magazine and author:
"Here are all the guidelines you need:
1. Get your work done.
2. Be available.
3. Overcommunicate."
13. @theagileeleven
Organisation
People: making change work
● Change: some folks will be fine with
working from home, others won't. Ensure
leaders and P&C are prepared, trained and
proactive about coaching and support.
● Wellbeing: burnout and isolation are
challenges in remote working due to the
lack of interruptions.
● KPIs: output-based KPIs, specially those
based on hours of work might not work in a
remote environment. Focus on value and the
outcomes you need to achieve.
!
People
"
14. @theagileeleven
Organisation
Process: prioritising what matters to enable agility
● Must-haves: some processes ensure
compliance and safety and we must keep
them.
● Adapt: other processes are still critical, but
need to be adapted for virtual work like
recruitment, onboarding, exiting, decision-
making processes...
● Kill: processes that slow you down and will
detract from changing work arrangements:
e.g: lengthy procurement processes
Processes
16. @theagileeleven
Team
Values: prioritising what matters to foster the right behaviours and facilitate trust
● If your team doesn't have values, this is the
right time to create them. Relying on them
during times of change is paramount for your
team to self-regulate, feel connected and
promote the right behaviours
● Values are actions or behaviours, not pretty
words on a document
● Retain your values by signifying using quotes,
images, animated GIFs, emojis, whatever
makes sense to your team!
Values
17. @theagileeleven
Team
Example: The Agile Eleven values
● Act like an owner
● Stay curious
● Create something better
● Be awesome to yourself and others
● No bullshit
Values
18. @theagileeleven
Team
Digital guidelines for remote and high-performing teams
● Find the best time as a team to meet online: while work should be
asynchronous, we need to find a time that works for everyone to
connect and collaborate online.
● Agree on the best way to give feedback remotely: feedback is the only
way we will continue to learn as a team, so don't stop it. Try virtual 1-1s,
safe words on chats and don't forget to pick up the phone!
● It's hard to stay in sync, so check in with your co-workers to schedule
1-1s that otherwise would happen when walking past their desk.
● Don't assume anything, ask and be explicit! Over communicate.
19. @theagileeleven
Team
Digital norms for remote and high-performing teams
● The wait: working in different time zones and/or different locations
mean you might need to wait for responses on chats. Be patient as a
team or schedule a 10-minute video call to decide something urgent.
● Have fun: your culture is not a reflection of your office - when bean bags
and table tennis are not around, what do you do?
21. @theagileeleven
Individual
Bring your best and true self to work
● Bring your true self to work
○ bring your child or pet to virtual calls
○ It's OK to have a snack while having a
session
○ Don't hide your 'life' just because you're
working from home
PS: unless there's something private or
confidential happening in your personal life!
...by the way, her name is Aya!
22. @theagileeleven
Individual
Unlearning: a shift in mindset
● A shift in mindset: work is not a location or
the number of hours worked.
Think instead: how am I adding value to my
team and my organisation?
● Embrace freedom and accountability: find
the best time for you to work without
compromising the team. If working at 7pm
works for you and doesn't impact a deadline,
go for it!
!
23. @theagileeleven
Individual
Tips we've learnt from doing
● Ensure you have a routine: have your normal daily routine regardless
if you are working from home. Do you exercise everyday at 6am? Don't
stop it. Do you go to a local café at 10:30am? Make your coffee at
home instead at the same time.
● Schedule 'me time': Find time for a walk, yoga, meditation...pet
cuddles. Whatever tickles your fancy, but book it in your calendar!
● The mute button is there for when your environment is noisy, but
radio silence and only one person speaking on video calls doesn't
work either. Physical meetings are never 100% silent, right?
24. @theagileeleven
Individual
More tips!
● Set up your desk and work
environment: having space for
yourself is critical for your
productivity.
● Managing your 'home office co-
worker': Try to schedule calls or
important meetings when your 'co-
worker' (aka: partner or house
mate) is not doing the same.
25. @theagileeleven
Key things to remember:
● We all have a responsibility in living our culture remotely
● As an organisation, how do you enable your teams and
people to work better remotely?
● Policies are great, but don't strive for perfection. Guidelines
or guiding principles are OK too.
● Values are like GOLD! Make sure you don't lose them.
● Find your groove when working remotely and be gentle
with yourself.
● Be prepared to UNLEARN what work truly means!
● Again….If all goes pear-shaped, remember your values!
