This article summarizes a runway collision between a United Express Beechcraft 1900 and a Beechcraft King Air at the Quincy Regional Airport in Illinois on November 19, 1996. The Beechcraft 1900 had taken off from Chicago and was preparing to land when the collision occurred. Contributing factors included miscommunication on the common traffic advisory frequency and the King Air taxiing onto the runway while the Beechcraft 1900 was landing. The accident was made worse by the lack of adequate emergency response due to the fire department being 10 miles away, resulting in 14 minutes to respond.
