The Characteristics Of Two Trees Species
Review of the characteristics of two tree species
David Bell 198120675
HORT90043 Tree Identification and Selection
WORD COUNT = 1200 (excluding tables and appendices)
Introduction
These two beautiful tree species are both tall street and park trees found in the south eastern suburbs
of Melbourne. One is a very commonly planted native tree which seems to have fallen out of favour
with local Councils in this area (see Appendix A) and the other is a distinctive yet rarely planted exotic
that seems to have done well but is only planted sporadically as an ornamental shade tree. Why? What
conditions and attitudes have changed from when these originally planted? What characteristics and
potentials do they have that makes them suited to planting here and in the future? What downsides do
these trees have?

Organizational Management, Leadership, And Leadership
Introduction The group submission for this week is a summary of five topics from Resilient Leaders
that relate to Organizational Management and Leadership. The narrative concludes with three
scriptures that group four feels sum up the responsibilities of a leader.
Five Topics The five topics that group four chose from Resilient Leaders that relate to Organizational
Management and Leadership are selfless service, integrity, leading by example, vision, and traits of
wise leadership.
Selfless Service. Dees (2013) stated, resilient leadership is selfless service over time from a platform
of character and competence. Selfless service (servant leadership) is an important concept to
Organization Management and Leadership. Selfless service is the foundation of servant leadership.
Selfless service is one of the most important traits of a good leader. For an organization to thrive, it is
important for a leader to serve their followers and place their needs before his needs. Servant
leadership has a profound impact on employee empowerment by fostering an environment of
empathy, awareness, healing, listening, stewardship and community awareness (Murari Gupta, 2012).
A selfless service leader can have mediating effects on both public service motivation and corporate
social responsibility that assist the organization from both a community and goal attainment
perspective (Tuan, 2016). Selfless service is serving others without regard for self (Dees, 2013).

Scroll Of The Emperors Analysis
The Scroll of the Emperors by Yan Liben showed the great arts that flourished within China in the
Tang Dynasty period. This is the only remaining work known to be from this artist and the first part of
the scroll is now a copy for the first six groups of emperors. This work contains a lot of space because
of the specific way the emperors and the attendants are placed. Due to these placements, the restrained
postures and the view of an ordered lifestyle coming from the painting shows Confucius beliefs. All
the figures have traditional Han clothing; a standing emperor is shown here to be more powerful than
of sitting one. The reason for this is because standing you have to look up at the individual showing he
or she is more higher in status and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, I think this drapery shows this in the stomach area of the most prestigious emperor in the
middle and the attendants hips are very distinct next to him. The Tang Dynasty uses large faces to
depict wealth and it shows here with the middle emperor. Also, the attendants show his high status
even more by appearing to hold his robe so it does not touch the ground. This time tolerated many
religions and as it can be pointed out here, calligraphy is behind in the background, which is part of
the Six Cannons of Painting by Xie He, showing the structural method use of brushwork. Tang
Dynasty attributes are shown through this painting from the main distinction of the faces to the
masterful shape, line, and modeling.Akbar was the third Mughal emperor of India who made an
impact to the arts. He had many manuscripts commissioned for his court. These showed realism
influenced by European Renaissance art. This painting from Akbarnama shows a true episode from his
life. Paintings from this dynasty were very crowded. There was much going on, which showed an
attribute of this artwork on showing real life sceneries rather than ones depicted by standards and how
this dynasty tolerated many

Pathological Liar Case Study
On Wednesday March..........during lunch Joanne Svec in passing said that she had seen Mary Herrick
when she was delivering the mail and explained that Tim came into the office earlier that morning
very agitated and complaining. He told her he was going to blow . She indicated to us that she was,
very afraid and that he has an arsenal of weapons. She also indicated that Jane Hayes, who was eating
lunch with us as well, felt the same way although Jane was not in the office when this exchange
occurred. Tracey and I were both stunned by this information and really didn t know what to say. After
lunch Tracey and I spoke about what was said and from my perspective I could not understand why
Joanne did not bring this matter to Tracey, her immediate supervisor. Based on all of our training on
safety protocol if Joanne felt the possibility of imminent danger existed Tracey should have been
notified. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

numerous occasions in our office the term pathological liar has been used to describe Tim. I asked
Joanne if she or anyone else ever saw his arsenal of weapons. Her response was, no . I then asked how
she knew that he had an arsenal and the response was because he said so. I responded, but the claim
has been made that he is a pathological liar so why is it you feel this is a truthful statement . She

Companies Should Be Controlled And Directed Accordance...
Companies should be controlled and directed in accordance with a system of good corporate
governance and ethical business principles. It is through creating this corporate governance framework
that a company can ensure effective business practices and corporate success. The demise of an
international retailer, Ahold, was the result of an absence of such corporate governance mechanisms
and in turn corporate malfeasance. The Ahold financial scandal emerged in February 2003 when
accounting irregularities were uncovered during the audit of its accounts, in particular at its US
Foodservice subsidiary (USF). The extent of this scandal was an overstatement of earnings by an
estimated $880 million within the years of 1999 and 2002. The main ... Show more content on

It was the manipulation of these balances that ultimately led to the seemingly deliberate forecast
overstatement. In response to the announcement, the company s stock price plummeted in value by
over 72 per cent within just two weeks, and the accounts for this reporting period had to be restated.
The disclosure of the scandal also led to the resignation of the chief executive officer, Cees van der
Hoeven, the chief financial officer, Michael Meurs, along with numerous other members of senior
management. Evidently, this case had an enormous impact on Ahold s reputation, stock price and
shareholders. More recently, on 22nd September 2014, Tesco also faced criminal investigation into
accounting irregularities after similarly announcing an overstatement of profits by $408.8 million. In
response to this disclosure, similar to Ahold, the share prices in Tesco plunged rapidly as profit
forecasts were significantly lowered. This led to the suspension of four senior executives and outside
auditors were called in to investigate. Among those suspended include Kevin Grace, former
commercial director, and Carl Rogberg, the UK finance director. At Tesco the financial error was, like
Ahold, said to have occurred as a result of the miss booking of rebate payments from suppliers,
through which there was an accelerated acknowledgment and recording of commercial income,
alongside a delayed accrual of costs. The correct time for recognition of

Knights Essay Sample
The last time the Newcastle Knights participated in finals footy, a Mitchell Pearce led Roosters side
knocked them out of a Grand Final qualifier, and they went on to win the competition.
Since that time, the Knights only have three wooden spoons to show for what has been the darkest
period in the club s history.
As the community club of the NRL, the Knights have some of the most loyal fans in the league that
continually fill McDonald Jones Stadium on a weekly basis, irrespective of their position on the
ladder.
The Knights massive recruitment drive for 2018 was recently topped off with the signature of Pearce,
who was drawn to the club by the loyal community so hungry for success.

In the last month I ve spoken to a lot of people I respect that are close to me, that want the best for you
but at the end of the day it came back to me, I had a good feeling about Newcastle.
I ve got high hopes for this season, I really believe that we can push a lot of teams this year; the sky is
the limit with this group.
Among that group of young players is Brock Lamb, who broke out last year as a rising star punching
above his weight in terms of responsibility for a 20 year old.
He shouldered that responsibility incredibly well, but his future at the club is uncertain with the
addition of Pearce and Watson, as well as current halfback Trent Hodkinson.
In a situation that seems identical to Cronk wanting Pearce to stay at the Roosters, the latter hopes to
play alongside Lamb in Knights colours next year.
I d love Brock to stay, before I came here I was a big fan of the way he played, Pearce said.
For a 20 year old the way he played in a team that was down the bottom of the ladder was a real
standout.
He s got a massive future and is a local junior so I d love to form some sort of combination there.
Before reaching a decision, Pearce sensed something special was brewing at the Knights after his first
visit to the club, even calling his father Balmain legend Wayne Pearce to tell him so.
That special feeling continued this morning for Pearce, who met the squad and

Heroes Out of Opression
Heroes Out of Oppression Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an
inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny (King) Martin Luther King
speaking these infamous words is only a small portion that reveals the inspirational nature that
allowed him to overcome racism. Oppression whether it is for race, gender, sexuality is still a series of
unfortunate events that occurs in our world every single day. The ground that America was built on
was based on equal rights for all, yet 200 years later injustice not only exists but thrives. However, if
nobody overcame oppression what would our world look like without those heroes and leaders?. In
Letter from Birmingham Jail, Martin Luther king is depicted as a man who was able to fight for his
people and his freedom even after all the horrific encounters with racism he had to witness. In
Sherman s Alexei s, What you Pawn I will Redeem , Jackson Jackson, even after left homeless and
alone, fought to get his grandmothers regalia back. Dana Johnson s Melvin from Melvin in the 6th
grade , lived through bullying and violence but was still able to remain a hero in Avery s eyes. What
made those people so amazing? Is it there charm, wit, perseverance? Leaders become influential when
other people strive to have those same heroic qualities. A true hero is an ordinary person who
exemplifies forgiveness, passion and empathy which allow them to overcome an oppressive situation

Practices that cause failure in leadership and management:
Ignoring the environment
One of the best ways to ensure failure in an organization is to manage it without regard for its external
environment, ignoring those stakeholders who play such an important role in the organizations success
or failure. To ignore the potential power possessed by the various stakeholder groups is unwise and it
often results from either ignorance or stagnation on the part of the developing organization.
Incorrectly identifying solutions to problems
It has been a trait of managers to want to treat symptoms rather than finding the root cause of a
problem and then they wonder why the problem keeps coming back. Many times managers fail to
realize that some of the problems that occur are just minor glitches, while the rest of the lot have a real
effect on the bottom line. Successful managers are the ones who can pinpoint which problems will
have the biggest impact on the bottom line and then focus their efforts in managing solutions to those
problems.

Ned Kelly was a very famous Australian Bushranger who was well known for his courage and

Australia. Ned Kelly is more commonly portrayed as the Robin Hood of Australia for people in the
modern society, after considering his heritage on Australia during his life. There are many
interpretations of Ned Kelly s life and character, which help people make judgements whether he is a

need. To support this idea, a high camera angle is used to show Ned Kelly s expression and his
personality, as well as his desperation for helping people. Ned Kelly can go to any extent to achieve
his mission. This also highlights a quality, which helps him gain the title of the Robin Hood of
Australia. Props are used in this scene to help emphasize his point and his mission. The props used in
this scene are guns and are used to indicate how serious Ned Kelly is for completing his mission and
to describe what extent he can reach to gain success. Furthermore, a medium shot of Steve, who is a
member of the Kelly Gang, steals a watch of one of the townspeople. The medium shot displays a

Spring Is Right Around The Corner, And It s Time
Spring is right around the corner, and it s time to start thinking about the gardening. Whether it be
flower beds or a vegetable garden, all your hard work in the beginning will set you up for an enjoyable
summer. Here a few different types of beds that you may want to try. Raised concrete block vegetable
garden You may ask yourself why you would want a raised concrete garden? Concrete blocks absorb
the heat all day long and maintain the root heat long into the night, warm roots have produce many
more vegetables for me. You need to measure your space and take this into consideration when
planning your new project. The cost may seem expensive at first, but remember these blocks will last
you a life time, so it is more than likely a one time purchase. I make my concrete block two blocks
high, spread out plastic, line the bottom with rocks that I gather through out the yard or wood line,
these are used for proper drainage. Fill with dirt, fertilizer and soil nutrients and plant your plants. You
can put a decorative spin on the blocks by painting them, paint them a plain color or show your artist
side and do a mural. What ever you do make it uniquely yours. You will be so surprised how much
more you yield after putting together this garden, It actually doubled what I usually get. Patio Garden
If a huge garden is not your thing, how about a small patio garden? You can do a very manageable,
easy to care for garden right on your deck. Here are some tips if you decide to do

Indecision, Hesitation and Delay in Shakespeare s Hamlet...
Hamlet the Hesitation and Indecision
Is there a plausible explanation for the hesitation by Hamlet in carrying out the ghost s request in
Shakespeare s Hamlet?
Lawrence Danson in the essay Tragic Alphabet discusses the hesitation in action by the hero; this is
related to his hesitation in speech:
To speak or act in a world where all speech and action are equivocal seeming is, for Hamlet, both
perilous and demeaning, a kind of whoring.
The whole vexed question of Hamlet s delay ought, I believe, to be considered in light of this
dilemma. To a man alienated from his society s most basic symbolic modes, who finds all speech and
action mere seeming and hypocritical playing, comes an imperious demand ... Show more content on

the crisis of the action, and is the directly precipitating cause of his own death, seven other deaths, and

The play begins on a guard platform of a castle in Denmark:
For two nights in succession, just as the bell strikes the hour of one, a ghost has appeared on the
battlements, a figure dressed in complete armor and with a face like that of the dead king of Denmark,
Hamlet s father. A young man named Horatio, who is a school friend of Hamlet, has been told of the
apparition and cannot believe it, and one of the officers has brought him there in the night so that he
can see it for himself.
The hour comes, and the ghost walks. The awed Horatio tries to speak to it but it stalks away, leaving
the three men to wonder why the buried king has come back to haunt the land. [. . .] Whatever the
message is that has wakened the ghost, it refuses to share it with them. (Chute 35)

Monkey s Quest For Immortality In Journey To The West
Immortality has been made into this ultimate goal. Literature and films have often painted immortality
as a gift only given to the few who have proven themselves worthy of it. A life full of great wisdom,
experience, and many other joys. In Journey to the West, it opens up with the birth of Monkey and
follows him as he tries to achieve immortality. Monkey wants immortality and is willing to do
anything to get it; thinking immortality will bring him a an enlightened life. After reading Journey to
the West, I believe immortality should not be something that is prized as the ultimate gift. I think
living an immortal life would be far worse than a mortal one and throughout this paper I will discuss
why. Why would someone want to be immortal if they cannot share their life with others? Sharing
with others is what life is about. Making connections and relationships ... Show more content on

So many experiences that anyone with the luck of getting to experience one would be grateful.
Monkey became king of his people, he learned great skills from the Patriarch, he went to the heavens
and met the Jade Emperor. Through all these extraordinary events Monkey does not even enjoy them.
Monkey wants immortality so bad that he takes everything, no matter how precious it is, for granted.
All of these experiences can be considered once in a lifetime events but to Monkey they are nothing.
All in all, in my opinion, immortality is worthless. With immortality comes selfishness. Immortals
seem to take everything for granted because they know they will most probably experience it again. I
think living a mortal life is the best and people should stop wishing to be immortal. Mortality is able
to bring out the best in life. With mortality people only have so long before they are gone from the
world and with that little time real happiness is discovered through all of life s hardships. In the end

Germany, And The Federal Republic Of Germany
History
Germany, or the Federal Republic of Germany, was officially founded 1871 by Otto von Bismarck.
Since then, Germany has had a rich history. As a young nation looking to get more territory, Germany
fought in World War I. However, its loss in the war led to severe punishments in the Treaty of
Versailles, leading to bitterness and resentment among the German people, as well as an economic
depression. These harsh conditions helped to set the stage for Fascism in Germany. Toppling the
Weimar Republic, the Nazi party (the National Social Workers Party) made a quick ascent to power.
Adolf Hitler, the leader of the Nazi party, envisioned a new era of glory for Germany: a Third Reich.
His eventual invasion of Poland in sparked the beginning of World War II. During the war, Germany,
along with the other Axis Powers, Japan and Italy, expanded into parts of Europe and Asia. Hitler
invaded Poland, Denmark, Norway, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and The Netherlands within the
first two years of the war. Determined to create the perfect Aryan race, Hitler set up concentration
camps all over Europe. Jews, Communists, and political enemies were imprisoned in these camps, and
millions died while in them. However, after years of war and multiple significant losses, Hitler
committed suicide. Germany surrendered in 1945, shortly following Hitler s death.
After the war, the decimated Germany was split into four occupation zones by the Allies. There were
three Western zones, occupied by

Global Health Issues
First, we will introduce you to the world situation with regard to health care. Then, we will explain the
link between health issue, poverty and economic factors. Eventually, we will talk about the actions
taken against these issues.
Despite incredible improvements in health since 1950, there are still a big number of challenges as
regards global health.
One billion people lack access to health care systems.
36 million deaths each year are caused by noncommunicable diseases, such as cardiovascular disease,
cancer or diabetes .This is almost two thirds of the estimated 56 million deaths each year worldwide.
Over 7.5 million children under the age of 5 die from malnutrition and mostly preventable diseases,
each year.

Even within a country such as the UK, then, the report finds that the average life span can differ by
some 28 years, depending on whether you are in the poorer or wealthier strata of society.
In rich countries, low socioeconomic position means poor education, unemployment and job
insecurity, poor working conditions, and unsafe neighbourhoods, with their consequent impact on
family life.
Most health problems are due to social, political and economic factors. The key determinants of health
of populations are the circumstances in which people are born, grow, live, work and age. And those
circumstances are affected by the social and economic environment.
Health is inextricably linked to economic issues. Without work, health cannot be afforded. Without
good health, work cannot be done.
Furthermore, some diseases are now not only the result of poverty, but have been contributing to
poverty.
Malaria has significant direct and indirect costs, and has recently been shown to be a major constraint
to economic development. Annual economic growth in countries with high malaria transmission has
historically been lower than in countries without malaria.
The risk of contracting malaria in endemic areas can deter investment, both internal and external and
affect individual and household decision making in many ways that have a negative impact on
economic productivity and growth.

The United States of America is a country located on the continent of North America that is ruled by a
federal authority. France, conversely, is a country located on the continent of Europe with a semi
presidential republic. These two forms of government utilized by each country are both similar and
different, although they are both democratic republics. Both nations have a written constitution and
use a system of checks and balances that divide power into three branches: the legislative, the
executive, and the judiciary. The legislative branches are very similar, having analogous houses of

America s highest court is the supreme court, but in France the highest courts are further categorized
into six divisions: three civil courts, a commercial court, a labor court, and a criminal court. Justice in
these courts are also decreed differently in the two countries. The U.S. proclaims court rulings based
on common law, the written and unwritten rules of society which govern and regulate democracies. In
a trial, for instance, a judge relies not solely on legislative decisions but also on other judicial
decisions which may have set precedents in similar cases in the past. France, for its part, follows a
civil law system in which punishment is affected based on already written codes. The civil law system
tends to be more authoritarian than a common law system, as every legal procedure must be codified
and given precedence in an existing constitution.
The United States and France have different executive branches. The United States is led by an elected
president, but the Republic of France is headed by a semi presidency. The President (Head of State) in

Influence Of Influence On The Upbringing And Rearing Of...
The word says, Train up a child in the way they should go, and when he is old he will not depart from
it.
Proverbs 22:6 New King James Version (NKJV)
In America today the rise of violence that is being committed by children is growing daily. The
pressure that is placed upon a parent to raise children in a certain demeanor has fallen to the waste
side, and every man, woman, and child is for themselves. Outside influences play a major role in the
upbringing and rearing of children no matter what age and time they were brought up in.
Men, in a word, must necessarily be controlled either by a power within them or by a power without
them; either by the Word of God or by the strong arm of man; either by the Bible or by the bayonet.
Robert Winthrop, Speaker of the U. S. House
According to Webster s Dictionary, influence is defined as the capacity to have an effect on the
character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself. Meaning you
become what you see the most and you develop the language of what you hear the most. There are
many influences that impact the way children perceive life and themselves, from TV, imitation of
others (peer pressure), drugs, anger, mental disorders, and lack of parental guidance, just to name a
few. Children today are looking to themselves and other things outside of the home to guide them or
encourage them to be who they feel they are. With the growth of technology and its major impact on

The City-Soul Dichotomy In Plato s Republic
In the Republic, the city soul analogy serves as the starting point from which Plato builds the dialogue,
and its implications phantasmically loom in the background of the work s political and philosophical
deliberations. At the end of Republic II, Socrates, in an effort to impugn Thrasymachus commendation
of injustice, asserts that a just soul and a just man will live well, and an unjust one badly. (Republic
353e) Socrates therefore believes that the just live better lives than those who are unjust, and to
demonstrate this to his main interlocutors he considers a city in which justice is applied. Socrates
general approach is to draw out the fundamental concept of political justice, and, through the vehicle
of the city soul analogy, relate this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of this is found in Republic IV as the soul is proven to be partitioned into three
independent components: reason, spirit, and appetite, all of which have direct counterparts in the class
structure of Socrates city. The analogy s significance is also showcased in Republic VII, as an accurate
depiction of justice s intrinsic value in the individual is derived through the interlocutor s investigation
of the conventions in Socrates city. Justice is ultimately found to possess universal qualities, one of
which includes being a product of the pursuit of the form of the good. Further consistencies between
the city and soul are evinced by Republic VIII and IX where Socrates finds equivalence among the
specific dynamics of various political systems and natural constitutions of the soul. With these
examples in mind, we must turn to the text of the Republic in order to gain a more comprehensive
understanding of the message Socrates was seeking to communicate through his analogy of city and

Media Propaganda
Media propaganda
Propaganda is a form of communication that is aimed at influencing the attitude of a community
toward some cause or position.
As opposed to impartially providing information, propaganda, in its most basic sense, presents
information primarily to influence an audience. Propaganda often presents facts selectively (thus
possibly lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or uses loaded messages to produce an
emotional rather than rational response to the information presented. The desired result is a change of
the attitude toward the subject in the target audience to further a political agenda. Propaganda can be
used as a form of political warfare.

The Creel Commission provided themes for speeches by four minute men at public functions, and also
encouraged censorship of the American press. The Commission was so unpopular that after the war,
Congress closed it down without providing funding to organize and archive its papers.
The war propaganda campaign of Lippmann and Bernays produced within six months such an intense
anti German hysteria as to permanently impress American business (and Adolf Hitler, among others)
with the potential of large scale propaganda to control public opinion. Bernays coined the terms group
mind and engineering consent , important concepts in practical propaganda work. The file Century of
the Self by Adam Curtis documents the immense influence of these ideas on public relations and
politics throughout the last century.
The current public relations industry is a direct outgrowth of Lippmann s and Bernays work and is still
used extensively by the United States government. For the first half of the 20th century Bernays and
Lippmann themselves ran a very successful public relations firm. World saw continued use of
propaganda as a weapon of war, both by Hitler s propagandist Joseph Goebbels and the British
Political Warfare Executive, as well as the United States Office of War Information.

Red Harvest Elihu Quotes
Elihu Willsson decides to hire the Continental Op to clean up Poisonville after his son, Donald
Willsson is found dead from a gun shot wound. The Op and Elihu formulate a deal, where Elihu is to
pay the Continental Detective Agency $10,000 for Op s services in cleaning up the city and ridding it
of poisonous corruption. However, after the murder is solved, Elihu attempts to retract the deal. Due to
the Op s professional conduct and character, he vehemently rejects his attempt to rescind the deal.
This is why in Part Seven of Dashiell Hammett s Red Harvest: That s Why I sewed You Up, the
passage that stood out to me is the following where Op says to Elihu, Your fat chief of police tried to

reading it, I couldn t help but feel this strong admiration for him. His speech showed his formidable
strength and how he was not going to let Elihu manipulate him like he does with other people. The Op
stood his ground and would not abide by his request, especially since completing the job is so
intertwined with his code of honor and conduct as a detective. In addition, I found it amazing how he
was able to talk to Elihu, someone described to be Poisonville due to his immense power and
influence without any fears. Elihu is the president and majority stockholder of the Personville Mining
Corporation, ditto of the First National Bank, owner of the Morning Herald, and Evening Herald, and
has some ownership in almost every other important enterprise. He even owned a United States
senator, some representatives, the governor, the mayor, and a majority of the state legislature. Clearly,

The Sniper And The Man He Killed
Wars never hurt anybody except for the people who died Salvador Dali, leader of the Surrealist
Movement. In both stories men who are at war are described, both of these men have killed a man
who are known as their foes. Both of the men realize that the man they killed could ve been a friend,
and were someone who really wasn t the enemy. The relationship between these two stories is that war
can tear families apart. In Liam O Flaherty s The Sniper and The Man He Killed by Thomas Hardy
both show similarities and differences in plot, irony, and theme. There are similarities of plot between
both stories, for example, both of the men are soldiers at war. As an example On a rooftop near O

The similar theme is that war changes people and tears them apart due to the pain and suffering of the
war. Cursing the war, cursing himself, cursing everybody (O Flaherty 208). The quote helps show that
the war may cause you to curse things you never would ve before, like, yourself. And from the poem
He thought he d list perhaps/ Off hand like just as I/ Was out of work, had sold his traps/ No other
reason why (Hardy 16 20). This tells how war can force people to make erratic decisions, it changes
your attitude and morals about any situation including joining the army and going to war. The
difference between the two stories is that in The Sniper it turns him against his family and in The Man
He Killed it turned the soldier against his friends. To prove this, Then the sniper turned over the dead
body and looked into his brother s face (O Flaherty, page 208). Again this tells of the shock the sniper
received when he saw it was his brother he had killed. But in the opposing story Yes, quaint and
curious war is!/ You shoot a fellow down/ You d treat if met where any bar is/ Or help to half a crown
(Hardy 17 20). It explains of how he killed a man that the soldier would have befriended in any other
situation. All in all, you can see both the similarities and differences in both stories

Father and Child Relationships in Death of a Salesman and A View from the Bridge
In literature as in life, we go through events which are the effects of the relationships between parent
and child. In both plays Death of a Salesman and A View from the Bridge, Arthur Miller depicts the
possessiveness of human nature through the eyes of Willy Loman and Eddie Carbone. Willy and his
son Biff exhibit an undoubtable strain in their relationship. Willy gives all his dreams to Biff in hope
that he will carry on or create success for himself. Eddie wants the best for his niece, Catherine, but is
unaware of his over protectiveness which in actuality is an element much more repelling. The

According to Bruno Leone, Biff and Willy s relationship is bedeviled by guilt. Willy feels responsible
for Biff s failure. But Biff equally feels guilty because he recognizes a responsibility which he cannot
fulfill, the responsibility to redeem Willy s life. (126) After Biff saw Willy with the woman in the
Boston Hotel, Biff never forgave him. Willy felt that it was because of his affair with the woman that
ruined Biff s chance at a university. Willy s guilt causes him to feel more responsible for Biff. Because
of his guilt, he wants to make sure that Biff is successful and receives a rewarding career. Therefore,
Willy, put blame on himself when Biff could not succeed or reach his own expectations.
Biff was always aware of his own potential and what career he would succeed at. He was aware that
he could never fulfill his father s hopes. I say I know who I am!...I m a dime a dozen...I m not bringing
home any prizes any more, and you re going to stop waiting for me to bring them home! (Miller, DOS

the only reason Willy is so proud of him is because of love. Yet in certain cases Biff denounces Willy
because of hate. Willy will not accept the fact that Biff is nothing more than average. ...reconciled by

Oliver Twist was written by Charles Dickens. He was born on February 7th 1812in Landport which is

ordinary share excluded tax, interest dividends to preference shares and weighted are ordinary share in
issue during the year. Earnings per share of J Sainsbury had increased 16.6 in 2009 to 32.1 in 2010.
The increment of J Sainsbury is due to the revaluation of properties within the joint ventures (J

new stage of profit. Dividend per share The amount of dividend per share is the cash sum paid by the
company to its shareholder (Weetman, 2006). Dividend per share of J Sainsbury was $13.2 in 2009
and increased to $14.2 in 2010. This is because the Board has recommended a final dividend of 10.2
pence per share, which will be paid on 16 July 2010 to shareholders on the Register of Member at the
close of business on 21 May 2010.( J Sainsbury, 2010). Dividend cover The dividend cover ratio tells
us how easily a business can pay its dividend from profits. A high dividend cover means that the
company can easily afford to pay the dividend and a low value means that the business might have
difficulty paying a dividend (biz/ed, 2011). The dividend cover of J Sainsbury was increased 0.94
between the two years. This dividend cover is low because the earnings per share of J Sainsbury is

Physical Therapist Strengths
Life is a constant learning experience. I believe that if we are able to recognize the good and bad
qualities within ourselves, we will become truly better human beings. Whether we are using the
positive skills and abilities that help us obtain our goal, or knowing the negative individual
weaknesses that need work, understanding ourselves and what we can do, can benefit us not only in
our future career field we choose to purse, but in our everyday life as well.
For myself, I believe a few of my personal assets in building relationships with others would have to
be my empathetic and developing attitude. Being a developer, I believe that there is good and potential
in very human being. I enjoy helping people discover, first of all, potential within themselves, and
then the potential in other individuals as well. Now my empathy helps me better understand and
connect with people on a more personal level. I am able to listen to an individual and see the world
through their eyes. I believe that these two strengths, along with my other top strengths, will help me

Jewish Contributions to the Early Civil Rights Movement
In many ways, the 1950s planted the seeds for the progress of the 60s. Glimpses of the rebellious
generation, who would later find its way to the anti War protests, are found throughout the fifties,
specifically in movies like Rebel Without a Cause and more overtly in Jack Kerouac?s On The Road.
The move away from conformity and towards more of an individualistic mentality began in the
somewhat closed circles of the Beat movement and spread throughout America during the sixties. The
Montgomery Bus Boycotts and Brown V. Board of Education were great precursors to the
revolutionary civil rights legislation of the mid sixties. Whereas for most of the aforementioned

Martin Luther King Jr. took the helm of the Montgomery Improvement Association, which was in
charge of the boycott, and it was under his leadership that the civil rights movement began to take a
new direction. His approach to the civil injustices of the time was peaceful confrontation. Exploiting
the new TV medium of the 1950s, King was able to reach millions more. The contrast of innocent
Blacks against the antagonistic White policemen of the South struck a chord with the liberal
Americans of the North. Playing on progressive ideals, King captured the attention of the left leaning
Americans, specifically those who found it difficult to express themselves in the federally hunted
Communist movement.
King, a religious man himself, frequently alluded to Biblical stories and themes. Instead of talking
about the resurrection of Jesus and other themes which divided Christians and Jews, King focused on
the Old Testament and the common values found in both religions. King himself declared that, I draw
not from Marxism or any other secular philosophy but from the prophets of Israel; from their passion
for justice and cry for righteousness. The ethic of Judaism is integral to my Christian faith. [3] King
concentrated on the shared belief of a compassionate God, as he once told a Rabbi, You and I draw

Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743, at Shadwell, the family farm in Goochland (now

child in the family and grew up with six sisters and one brother. Two other brothers died in infancy.
His father, Peter Jefferson, had served as surveyor, sheriff, colonel of militia, and member of the

horseback riding, and canoeing. He also learned to play the violin and to love music. Jefferson was 14
years old when his father died. As the oldest son, he became head of the family. He inherited more
than 2,500 acres (1,010 hectares) of land and at least 20 slaves. His guardian, John Harvie, managed
the estate until Jefferson was 21. Thomas began his studies under a tutor. At age 9, he went to live
with a Scottish clergyman, who taught him Latin, Greek, and French. After his father died, Thomas

politicians seem to forget is that the fast food workforce is not only made up of high school and

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Genetically Modified Foods
Often a common question is whether the production of GM foods is a solution to the food crisis or a
disaster in the making. First off GMO (genetically modified organism) is the result of a laboratory
process where genes from the DNA of one species are extracted and artificially forced into the genes
of an unrelated plant or animal. The foreign genes may come from bacteria, viruses, insects, animals
or even humans. So essentially it is taking food, modifying food using a gene that solves an obstacle
and putting it on the market for us to eat. Some of the advantages of GM foods are that they are better
for the environment. GMOs are adapted in such a way that many plants don t require pesticides or
other chemicals that impact on the earth. GMOs increase the flavour and longevity of the fruit.
Another advantage which is probably in the best interest of society is that fact that it often decreases
price of products and often becomes more affordable. Although research and testing is not cheap, once
it is on the market the prices of your normal GM foods are substantially more affordable. With all the
advantages comes the counter, disadvantage. GM foods often cause cross contamination where pollen
from genetically modified foods are also contaminated. When GMOs are around other plants often the
pollen can drift over to the wrong plants and create plants that have resistance to the conditions that
were meant for the crops to be resistant to. Essentially GMOs potentially have the

Vast mountain ranges and rocky cliffs come to mind. Those are both some obvious factors as to why
agricultural practices may be hard in the region, but other than physical boundaries, what are the
difficulties of growing in this mountainous region? I will surely need to know these if I plan to make a
living off of growing in the mountains. My fascination for how native tribes work with the land raised
the question of what crops were originally grown/are native, in Appalachia prior to the European
invasion bringing about other crops. Were these new crops brought in essential for a growing
population or were they destructive to the soil, being invasive plants? Tying into the idea of native
crops, I would love to look more into the herbs found within the forests of Appalachia. Wanting to be

questions. I am wondering, however, why do mushrooms grow well here? Is it simply because of the
thick canopy of the forest providing ample shade or do these mountains contain particular nutrients
necessary for mushroom growth? My father has always shown an interest in growing shiitake
mushrooms. I have never spoken to him about what sparked his interest, but living in the Cherokee

These different areas and fields are mostly based on the breeds of cattle. Distinct breeds did not
emerge until the second half of the 18th century when the industrial revolution in Europe required
more productive animals (Ritchie 1). This is because they had now made vehicles to use to move
equipment instead of cows. Also, this caused many people to bring up cows for only their milk or beef
instead of for pulling and lugging things around. Old triple purpose (meat/milk/draft) native cattle
types that had been raised for centuries began to decline, and in their place, more productive double
and single purpose cattle were bred. This has lead to cows that have a single purpose and the breeds
are better at producing specified product, for example Holsteins are specially bred to produce the
maximum amount of milk. All of the new breeds have lead to the cattle and beef industry growing

My Experience At Uztea And British Council s Project
Working abroad was yet another eye opening and challenging experience which shaped me both as a
teacher and a person overall.
For example, I had to adapt myself to more effective ways to get my message across when interacting
with teachers and students since almost all of them were from different countries and they had
absolutely different motivation to work and study. Life abroad was different from life I got use to in
Uzbekistan.
However, thanks to my previous work experience at UzTEA and British Council s project I managed

was in an excellent time period where I had to work with the language center owner and the director
shoulder to shoulder and built the future of the language center almost from the scratch. Under their

Philosophy Course Required For Ib Diploma Program
Theory of Knowledge Essay In gaining knowledge, each area of knowledge uses a network of ways of
knowing. Discuss this statement with reference to two areas of knowledge. ` Word Count: 1423
Theory of Knowledge, a philosophy course required for the IB Diploma program, is the most
challenging class I have ever taken. Throughout the course, we explored in depth of all the ways of
knowing and areas of knowledge. This class made me think about the knowledge that I know in my
life and how I came to know about these knowledge. For instance, I questioned how I was able to
obtain knowledge from every events that had happened in my life. I also questioned if it is necessary
to use more than one ways of knowing in order to gain knowledge towards my moral principles. I do
not know if I always use more than one way of knowing in order to gain knowledge in my personal
life. This title is interesting to me because I have always wonder if we need more than one way of
knowing in order to gain knowledge? Obviously, history can be defined simply as the study of the
past. Many people had questioned whether history is the study of all the past or rather a study of
events that have been deemed important by historians. This made me wonder how historians use the
ways of knowing in order to know what are important in history. Do they use their emotion,
perception, reason, and language in order to reach a conclusion of something that happened in the
past? For example, this

Nietzsche s Genealogy Of Morals
During the late 19th century, Friedrich Nietzsche examined the history of morals in his Genealogy of
Morals. In his work, Nietzsche reveals the origin of morality, and he goes further to tear down the
basis of Christianity and Kant s Moral Law to show that there is a plurality of conflicting morals in
society. Max Weber, who was a philosopher greatly influenced by Nietzsche, writes further on the
plurality declaring that there is a polytheism that is the result of many conflicting values. Weber
concludes that there is no science of ethics after Nietzsche, so there is no way to determine the correct
value system. There is currently polytheism and a plurality of values that will not be resolved because
all values are valid despite them conflicting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this new polytheism, conflict rages between different gods, and it will go on for all time. It is as it
was in antiquity before the world had been divested of the magic of its gods and demons, only in a
different sense (Science as a Vocation p. 23). The contemporary polytheism is similar to the ancient
one in that it consists of conflict; however, in neo polytheism, the gods are impersonal forces. There is
no magic or personal gods in this new system. There is just conflicting value systems where each
value system is equally valid. This is a difficult reality for people to digest due to the blinding strength
the Christian church has on people. Christianity led people to believe that there was only one way to
live. Any other value system was wrong in the eyes of Christians. People will become more aware that
there is a plurality of value systems, and that each set of values can be considered just as valid as the
next: The destiny of our culture, however, is that we shall once again become more clearly conscious
of this situation after a millennium in which our allegedly or supposedly exclusive reliance on the
glorious pathos of the Christian ethic had blinded us to it (Science as a Vocation p. 24). People will
learn to move away from the ethics laid forth by Christianity and, in the face of polytheism, make

Apollinarianism Research Paper
¬¬
Apollinarianism
Konstantin Martynyuk
Theology 154: Faith, Justice the Catholic Tradition
April 5, 2017
Apollinarius was the bishop of Laodicea who developed the heretical position concerning the nature
of Christ. Originally, a supporter of orthodoxy against the Arians, his Christological teaching becomes
a heresy among scholars, at a synod in Rome in 374 380 and by the Council of Constantinople in 381.
The primary opponents of Apollinarius were Athanasius, the Cappadocian Fathers (the two
Gregories), and Epiphanius. ¬ The Church Fathers sought to defend themselves against Apollinarius s
teaching, especially when referring to the Incarnation. His Christology, Apollinarism, denied the
existence in Christ of a rational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, when talking about the Incarnation, Apollinarius strays from the orthodox perception of
Christ and says that he has only one true (divine) nature. In accord with Church teaching, Apollinarius
believed that Jesus Christ has fully redeemed humanity. He is the only mediator between God and
man, a fact which led Apollinarius to maintain that if God were a unity, Christ himself must be a unity.
If the divine element was simply united with mankind, we would have two sons, one of God by nature
and the other by adoption. With this the flesh of Christ is not added to divinity but establishes one
nature with the God. The Treatise Against Apollinarius, or better known by its Latin title,
Antirrheticus, was created by Gregory of Nyssa to challenge this heretic teachings of Apollinarius. St.
Gregory of Nyssa wrote two works during the 380s opposing the teachings of not just Apollinarius but
his followers as well. Moving forward, the Incarnation showed that a physical body was joined with
the divine logos. Looking back to an assigned reading from earlier in the semester, in the Gospel of
John, the passage says The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. (John 1:14)
Apollinarius interpreted this as the logos taking on flesh without assuming a human mind, the source
of evil. For Apollinarius, the logos was the sole life of Jesus even down to the physical level. He
thereby constitutes one living unity in which the soul directs and the body

National Crime Victimization Survey Essay
The National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) was formulated by the federal government s
Bureau of Justice Statistics to address non reported issues by victims in the United States, according to

Persuasive Essay On Owning A House
In this day and age, we are advancing and changing the traditional routines past generation set for us.
Today millennials are trying different turns in the workforce, not starting at the bottom to the top.
Because of this empowerment, some get the dream job they work so hard for all the while being in
school. With this some say they feel entitled; some say they know their worth. Also, the internet has
created a new way for a side hustle, selling things on the internet, making money off YouTube videos,
providing driving services, and even creating apps. So why wouldn t millennials want to own a house,
knowing they have income coming in? Could it be they saw their parents face the recession? Could it
be they haven t found their purpose in life? Or could the burden of college debt stop them from
purchasing? Maybe they re waiting until they meet that special someone or possibly owning a home is
overrated? All these factors may be the reasons there is a decline in real estate ownership. Therefore, if
millennials want to invest in a home, they need to look into the reason why they re buying the house.
See the pros and cons of being a first time buyer and be a pessimist, not an optimist. Buying a home is
a stressful shopping experience, but could be the best experience if they have the right people in their
corner and they re ready for this big step. Right people as in a realtor that is honest and looks out for
them and also family members or a friend who can rationalize

Summary Of Reservation Blues By Sherman Alexie
In the story of reservation blues by sherman alexie the opening chapter starts off with the literary
device of foreshadowing. In the one hundred and eleven years since the creation of the spokane indian
reservation in 1881, not one person, indian or otherwise, had arrived there by accident. Wellpinit, the
only town the reservation, did not exist on most maps, so the black stranger surprised the whole tribe
when he appeared with nothing more than the suit he wore and guitar slung over his back. The
opening scene in this chapter gave me the feel of an mystical spooky setting. This lead me to believe
that this character Robert Johnson would have a big part in this story. Robert johnson is an african
american man who was a famous guitar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Re: Recognition of Asset Retirement Obligations for Lack of Information
Date: June 2, 2014
Background
Lack of Information (LOI) owns and operates 50 warehouses throughout the country. As part of LOI s
efforts to identify potential asset retirement obligations, LOI s internal audit group held interviews
with all 50 of the warehouse managers and also performed site visits at each of the 50 locations. The
related findings of the interviews and site visits noted the following facts:
Number of Warehouses
State Laws

ASC 410 20 25 8 indicates that an asset retirement obligation is estimable if all of the following exist:
1. The settlement date or the range of potential settlement dates
2. The method of settlement or potential methods of settlement (The term potential methods of
settlement refers to methods of settling the obligation that are currently available to the entity...)
3. The probabilities associated with the potential settlement dates and potential methods of
settlement... Although LOI contends that it will not have to settle the actual retirement obligation, the
transfer of the obligation to the future buyer represents a form of settlement. The guidance in ASC 410
20 25 5 requiring the recognition of both an asset retirement cost and asset retirement obligation upon
acquisition of an asset with an asset retirement obligation indicates that the transfer of the obligation
to another party represents an effective settlement of the obligation by the seller.
Thirteen Warehouses With State Laws to be Operated Indeterminately
As noted above, the state laws create an asset retirement obligation for the 13 warehouses that will
continue to operate indeterminately. LOI s contention that it will operate these warehouses indefinitely
through continued maintenance is invalid since ASC 410 20 does not permit

Compare And Contrast The Minority Report
The text The Minority Report by Philip K. Dick is a commentary on the concept of innocence and one
s freedom of choice. It is often said that stories change significantly when becoming movies. The
movie by the same name Minority Report directed by Steven Spielberg is based off the same ideas and
concept the unpredictability of life and choices. It is a prime example of how the short story and
movie differ even if the basic concepts remain unchanged. The movie and short story share many
similarities. Some of the similarities include the themes of morality with their legal system precrime,
security and access to information, crime and punishment, and fate verse free will. Other similarities
in the style of the narrative include the fact that

Selfless service (servant leadership) is an important concept to Organization Management and Leadership. Selfless service is the foundation of servant leadership. Selfless service is one of the most important traits of a good leader. For an organization to thrive, it is important for a leader to serve their followers and place their needs before his needs. Servant leadership has a profound impact on employee empowerment by fostering an environment of empathy, awareness, healing, listening, stewardship and community awareness (Murari Gupta, 2012). This is the only remaining work known to be from this artist and the first part of the scroll is now a copy for the first six groups of emperors. This work contains a lot of space because of the specific way the emperors and the attendants are placed. Due to these placements, the restrained postures and the view of an ordered lifestyle coming from the painting shows Confucius beliefs. All the figures have traditional Han clothing; a standing emperor is shown here to be more powerful than of sitting one. The reason for this is because standing you have to look up at the individual showing he or she is more higher in status and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is through creating this corporate governance framework that a company can ensure effective business practices and corporate success. The demise of an international retailer, Ahold, was the result of an absence of such corporate governance mechanisms and in turn corporate malfeasance. The Ahold financial scandal emerged in February 2003 when accounting irregularities were uncovered during the audit of its accounts, in particular at its US Foodservice subsidiary (USF). The extent of this scandal was an overstatement of earnings by an estimated $880 million within the years of 1999 and 2002. The main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was the manipulation of these balances that ultimately led to the seemingly deliberate forecast overstatement. In response to the announcement, the company s stock price plummeted in value by over 72 per cent within just two weeks, and the accounts for this reporting period had to be restated. The disclosure of the scandal also led to the resignation of the chief executive officer, Cees van der Hoeven, the chief financial officer, Michael Meurs, along with numerous other members of senior management. Evidently, this case had an enormous impact on Ahold s reputation, stock price and shareholders. More recently, on 22nd September 2014, Tesco also faced criminal investigation into accounting irregularities after similarly announcing an overstatement of profits by $408.8 million. In response to this disclosure, similar to Ahold, the share prices in Tesco plunged rapidly as profit forecasts were significantly lowered. This led to the suspension of four senior executives and outside auditors were called in to investigate. Among those suspended include Kevin Grace, former commercial director, and Carl Rogberg, the UK finance director. At Tesco the financial error was, like Ahold, said to have occurred as a result of the miss booking of rebate payments from suppliers, through which there was an accelerated acknowledgment and recording of commercial income, alongside a delayed accrual of costs. Among that group of young players is Brock Lamb, who broke out last year as a rising star punching above his weight in terms of responsibility for a 20 year old. He shouldered that responsibility incredibly well, but his future at the club is uncertain with the addition of Pearce and Watson, as well as current halfback Trent Hodkinson. In a situation that seems identical to Cronk wanting Pearce to stay at the Roosters, the latter hopes to play alongside Lamb in Knights colours next year. I d love Brock to stay, before I came here I was a big fan of the way he played, Pearce said. For a 20 year old the way he played in a team that was down the bottom of the ladder was a real standout. He s got a massive future and is a local junior so I d love to form some sort of combination there. Before reaching a decision, Pearce sensed something special was brewing at the Knights after his first visit to the club, even calling his father Balmain legend Wayne Pearce to tell him so.

  • 16. Germany, And The Federal Republic Of Germany History Germany, or the Federal Republic of Germany, was officially founded 1871 by Otto von Bismarck. Since then, Germany has had a rich history. As a young nation looking to get more territory, Germany fought in World War I. However, its loss in the war led to severe punishments in the Treaty of Versailles, leading to bitterness and resentment among the German people, as well as an economic depression. These harsh conditions helped to set the stage for Fascism in Germany. Toppling the Weimar Republic, the Nazi party (the National Social Workers Party) made a quick ascent to power. Adolf Hitler, the leader of the Nazi party, envisioned a new era of glory for Germany: a Third Reich. His eventual invasion of Poland in sparked the beginning of World War II. During the war, Germany, along with the other Axis Powers, Japan and Italy, expanded into parts of Europe and Asia. Hitler invaded Poland, Denmark, Norway, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and The Netherlands within the first two years of the war. Determined to create the perfect Aryan race, Hitler set up concentration camps all over Europe. Jews, Communists, and political enemies were imprisoned in these camps, and millions died while in them. However, after years of war and multiple significant losses, Hitler committed suicide. The pressure that is placed upon a parent to raise children in a certain demeanor has fallen to the waste side, and every man, woman, and child is for themselves. Justice is ultimately found to possess universal qualities, one of which includes being a product of the pursuit of the form of the good. Further consistencies between the city and soul are evinced by Republic VIII and IX where Socrates finds equivalence among the specific dynamics of various political systems and natural constitutions of the soul. First off GMO (genetically modified organism) is the result of a laboratory process where genes from the DNA of one species are extracted and artificially forced into the genes of an unrelated plant or animal. The foreign genes may come from bacteria, viruses, insects, animals or even humans. So essentially it is taking food, modifying food using a gene that solves an obstacle and putting it on the market for us to eat. Some of the advantages of GM foods are that they are better for the environment. GMOs are adapted in such a way that many plants don t require pesticides or other chemicals that impact on the earth. GMOs increase the flavour and longevity of the fruit. Another advantage which is probably in the best interest of society is that fact that it often decreases price of products and often becomes more affordable. Although research and testing is not cheap, once it is on the market the prices of your normal GM foods are substantially more affordable. With all the advantages comes the counter, disadvantage. GM foods often cause cross contamination where pollen from genetically modified foods are also contaminated. When GMOs are around other plants often the pollen can drift over to the wrong plants and create plants that have resistance to the conditions that were meant for the crops to be resistant to. However, when talking about the Incarnation, Apollinarius strays from the orthodox perception of Christ and says that he has only one true (divine) nature. In accord with Church teaching, Apollinarius believed that Jesus Christ has fully redeemed humanity. He is the only mediator between God and man, a fact which led Apollinarius to maintain that if God were a unity, Christ himself must be a unity. If the divine element was simply united with mankind, we would have two sons, one of God by nature and the other by adoption. With this the flesh of Christ is not added to divinity but establishes one nature with the God. The Treatise Against Apollinarius, or better known by its Latin title, Antirrheticus, was created by Gregory of Nyssa to challenge this heretic teachings of Apollinarius.
