The Last Judgement Tympanum At St-Lazare Analysis
The Last Judgment tympanum at Saint Lazare is also incredibly significant due to the fact that no
other tympanum from the Romanesque is so boldly and recognizably claimed by the artist. In the
middle of the composition is the phrase Gislebertus hoc fecit , which roughly translates to Gislebertus
made this and serves as the alleged artist s signature. As mentioned previously, few of the large
stoneworks from this era can be directly linked to a specific person. The signature left behind at Saint
Lazare can be easily interpreted as a big display of artistic confidence, a quality more frequently seen
from master artists of the Renaissance and onward. During this period, Romanesque sculptures
attached to architecture were relegated in status to secondary importance to stonemasons, and the
tympanums were seen as very separate objects. By placing his signature here, Gislebertus claims the
piece as his own work and firmly establishes himself as an artist rather than simply a sculptor. There
are historians who question whether the signature left behind is actually indicative of patronage rather
than the artist responsible for it; a patron placing themselves within a piece ... Show more content on

In contrast, the figures on the right side have received condemnation and face the wrath of several
devilish figures. This exact orientation of the saved and damned figures is showcased in nearly every
depiction of the Last Judgment, no matter the period or year of its creation. Within the ranks of the
saved are varying degrees of ecstasy and rapture on the faces of the figures, all looking towards their
savior Christ. Conversely, the damned are depicted in various states of intense agony; the figures are
all bent into several extreme, angular and anguished poses amplifying the severity of their final

What Is The Theme In Ordinary People
If one of your family members died, what would you do? When one door closes, another opens; life s
difficulties, obstacles, and challenges are all stepping stones for greater experiences. This is shown In
Ordinary People by Judith Guest. The Jarrett family recently loses their son, Buck in a sailing
accident. Beth and Calvin, the parents, and Conrad, their younger son, deal with the sudden loss in
different ways. Conrad, Calvin and Beth gieve over Buck s death. This takes each of them an extended
period of time because they all have different coping strategies. In Ordinary People, by Judith Guest,
the characters Calvin, Conrad and Beth experience how a typical family deals with a major loss and
how they are affected by it as well as how they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beth is too concerned of how people view her, than the fact that her son; Conrad is lost and needs her
support. She is also one who does not show her emotions, especially towards Conrad. Throughout the
book she seems to avoid conrad after he tried to attempt suicide. Perhaps she favored Buck, and
blames Conrad for his death, or can t forgive Conrad for being depressed and attempting suicide.Beth
has pushed away her son and her husband. She deals with Buck s tragedy by avoiding to talk about it.
In the novel Beth states, That whole vicious thing! He made it as vicious, as sickening as he could!
The blood all that blood! Oh, I will never forgive him for it! He wanted it to kill me, too! ( Guest 237).
This exposes how Beth will never forgive Conrad for attempting suicide, she will always have a
grudge against him. What kind of mother is beth to abandoned her child over a act of depression?
In Ordinary People, by Judith Guest, the following characters Conrad, Calvin and Beth all are affected
by Buck s death in several different ways. While reading Ordinary People, the story line taught me
that healing after the most horrific experiences is possible, but the challenges that come along the way
will teach you lessons that you will never forget. The story line connects to me in several ways
because in my life I have had ups and downs, an experience I had of this was when my parents got
divorced. This changed the way I lived my life, and my relationship with my mom, dad and even

Part I: Do the following Questions
1. Define American Call/Put option 10 pts
Answer
Options allow investors to hedge against risk. If one expects stock prices to rise, then he/she may like
to invest in stocks. However, buying stocks also entails risk because of price fluctuation. The risk will
be potentially large in case price falls to zero. In order to avoid risk one may like to buy a call option.
An American call option gives one the right, but not an obligation, to buy a specified number of shares
of a stock for a specified price called exercise or strike price before the maturity date or on ... Show

The most important calendar anomalies identified by Sewell are the January effect and the weekend

* Halloween Indiactor: a trading strategy of tactical asset allocation based on the old saying * sell in
May and go away generated abnormal returns in comparison with stock market indices in most

returns on financial market indices (roughly 200 to 500 per cent in comparison to weekend effect), and
researchers argue that the effect could be because of changes in sleep patterns.

Design of Information Quality
Information quality is often a key dimension of end user satisfaction instruments (Ives et al., 1983;
Baroudi Orlikowski, 1988; Doll et al., 1994). Information quality is often not distinguished as a
unique construct to measure success but is measured as a component of user satisfaction. Fraser Salter
(1995) developed a generic scale of information quality, and others have developed their own scales
using the literature that is relevant to the type of information system under study (Coombs et al., 2001;
Wixom Watson, 2001; Gable et al., 2003) whereby the domain basically depend a lot on the dimension
of user satisfaction, how they perceive the information quality and whether it increases their job
effectiveness.
Ackoff (1967) mentions five misconceptions underlying the design of information quality and states:
The most important informational deficiency the managers suffer from is abundance of irrelevant
information . Information quality dissatisfaction, such as incorrect information due to data errors and
irrelevant information still exist even today (Strong et al., 1997). In other words, software quality
today is no better than it was decades ago (Whittaker and Voas, 2006; Parnas, 2003), plagued with
problems such as hard to use user interfaces and fragmented software modules that are difficult to
integrate which finally is related to the perceived information of an information quality of an end user.
System quality on the other hand is said to be the

The Relationship Between The Arts And The Growing Body Of...
The periods of the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo were periods not only for the art flourishment
but also, for the scientific knowledge growth. So, in those periods, the relationship between art and
science was so clear and attractive. This essay will discuss the relationship between the arts and the
growing body of scientific knowledge during the three major stylistic periods. In addition to
explaining how the artists used new scientific knowledge in their work.
In the Middle Ages, the church had banned the studying of the human body, and the artists did not
depict it. That could be because they consider the human body to be guilty, sinful and the cause of
lure. For that reason, arts do not accurately reflect the human bodies in the ... Show more content on

One can really think that Moses is looking at them due to its accurate details and measurements.
Moreover, the rediscovery of the linear perspective by Brunelleschi, and the invention of the printing
press in the periods of the Italian and Northern Renaissance affected the art. (Dauben, n.d.). Also, they
show the relationship between art and science obviously. To say it clearly, with the linear perspective
we managed to feel ourselves belonging to the paintings as space and dimensions became enough for
us to place ourselves there. Also, thanks to it, we can see the design for buildings the same way it will
look in the real world. Brunelleschi s elevation of Santo Spirito was the first painting using this
technique. So, I think it is the best example to show that.
Moving to the Baroque period, there was development in different fields of the scientific knowledge.
It was the time when people looked through the microscopes for the first time, and when Sir Bacon
put the basis for the scientific thinking using hypothesis testing. (Wolford, n.d.). So, I will choose one
of Galilei s paintings, namely Frontispiece for the Opere di Galileo Galilei to represent this period.
This painting shows how art, represented in Galilei, is connected to Mathematics, optics, and
astronomy. I think Galilei wanted to say that art is a science, and it can t be separated away from the
other sciences.

Dementia In Still Alice
Still Alice, a film adapted from the novel Still Alice, portrays the progression of dementia through
Alice Howland, a linguistics professor, wife, and mother of three. According to the Mayo Clinic
(2016), dementia describes a group of symptoms affecting memory, thinking and social abilities
severely enough to interfere with daily functioning . More specifically, Alice is diagnosed with early
onset familial Alzheimer s disease due to her age and genetics. Still Alice includes many examples in
Alice s deteriorating episodic, semantic, skill, and working memory. Though Alice uses strategies to
fight the deterioration, the Alzheimer s eventually rids her of any form of memory. However, Still

To further accentuate Alice s cognitive degeneration, a scene could be added involving her new
grandchildren. In the movie, Alice meets Anna and Charlie s twin babies for the first time, just after
they were delivered in the hospital. Upon their birth, Charlie was hesitant to let Alice hold them due to
her mental state, so this scene will further that specific plot line. The scene would take place at their
house in New York, after they have returned from an extended stay at their beach house. John has just
received his offer from the Mayo Clinic, and Lydia is planning to fly in from Los Angeles to stay with
her mother. Alice is still trying to comprehend the idea of John taking a new job in a new state, as she
was hoping he would take a sabbatical and spend a year with her during her time of declining
cognition. Anna and Charlie pay their parents a visit and bring along their new children, Allison and
Charlie Jr. The doorbell rings and John opens the door to let Anna and Charlie in. The couple and their
children move to the living room to sit on the couch with Alice. Ann , Alice says, thinking that her
deceased sister is seated across from her. Mom, it s Anna , she replies, as she hands one of the twins to
her mother. What beautiful babies! Are you babysitting them? Are you their nanny? Alice asks,
receiving a puzzled look from the others. Alice , John says quietly, these are your grandchildren, Anna
and Charlie s twin babies . Alice stares down at the infant in her arm as the realization sets in, and a
small tear rolls down her cheek. At this point the scene fades out and cuts to the

Major Works The following list is a great start for those who want to read the classic hard boiled
stories that have defined what is meant by a hard boiled fiction. The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell
Hammett. The Postman Always Rings Twice by James M Cain. It caused a scandal with its explosive
mix of violence and sex. The torrid story of Frank Chambers, the amoral drifter, Cora, the sullen and
brooding wife, and Nick Papadakis, the amiable but inconvenient husband, has become a classic of its
kind, and established Cain as a major novelist with a spare and vital prose style and a bleak vision of
America. Cain s another work Double Identity. Here, Walter Huff is an insurance investigator like any

Thus became very human need of entertainment. Most of the hard boiled crime fiction stories involve
private investigators as the hero, though Sherlock Holmes was a private eye and the stories aren t hard
boiled, and Cain never wrote a detective novel. They are realistic, in the sense that people who go out
and get a private investigator license are hired to solve crimes, which is more than the village vicar or
the head of the gardening club can say. These situations will definitely make a curiosity in eyes of the
reader than the normal occasions.
The Setting As we discussed earlier the setting for hardboiled detective fiction is usually a large city,
an urban area, or an industrial area. The cities tend to be dark, dangerous places run by corrupt
politicians, gangster syndicates, and an occasional corrupt police officer. Often the stories themselves
have more night scenes than daylight scenes, which contribute to the overall dark atmosphere of the
stories thus, can create more mind blowing occasions. Hard boiled fiction covers a broad range of
writing about crime and the people involved in criminal activity or violence, the police, private
detectives, criminals, lawyers, and so on. The plots range from the solving of the mystery of who
committed the crime to following the

Dover Beach Tone
Dover Beach is a poem that was written by Matthew Arnold which describes a speaker s view on faith
slowly fading from the world in which he lives. The primary purpose of this poem is to use imagery to
paint a picture of the dying religious presence in the world that the speaker finds himself in. This is the
central message that Matthew Arnold is trying to get across to his audience. An excellent example of
how Arnold translates this to the reader is how the tone of the first eight lines and the tone of the final
three lines of the poem differ from each other. The first eight lines of Dover Beach sets the initial tone
for the beginning of the poem. They are used to paint a picture within the reader s head and to present
a specific tone in the beginning. The speaker gives the reader a ... Show more content on

He uses the term, The Sea of Faith , as a metaphor to describe the ocean of religious influence that the
world once had. (Arnold 21). He eventually ends the poem with three lines that possess a completely
opposite tone that the initially eight lines did. Instead of being in a calm, tranquil place, the reader is
told, And we are here as on a darkling plain (Arnold 35). The speaker has taken us from a tone of
tranquility and joyfulness to instead one of hopelessness and gloom. The final two lines depict death
and blind violence, Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight / Where ignorant armies clash
by night (Arnold 36,37). The speaker specifically describes the armies as clashing by night , in order
to suggest that with the blackness of night the fighters are most likely not only killing their enemies
but also their allies. The speaker has seen the world s dying religious faith and has come to accept that
times are changing and that means that chaos is coming. This change of thought is the primary
purpose for the dramatic change on tone that we witness within these

Late Fragment By Raymond Carver Analysis
Poetry; a gift from the gods of literature, blessing all those that read it with intellect and awareness of
very important issues or even a fun piece of writing to indulge in. Throughout history, many
influential writers have made an impact on society with their writing. Raymond Carver, an award
winning writer, wrote many poems and stories throughout his career that shaped writing for many
other poets. Carver was born into a family of poverty and from a young age, he did not have an ideal
relationship with his parents due to the strong use of alcohol by his father. Later on in his life, Carver
became an alcoholic and tried to distance himself from everyone around him and a career in life. It
was very clear that he was going down a very negative path; Carver got into a toxic marriage, was
diagnosed with cancer, was hospitalized for his drinking problems many times and was going to die.
Once he moved to California and found his passion for literature, his whole life seemed to have turned
around. He began to feel happier, quit drinking, divorced his first wife and married the love of his life,
Tess Gallagher. Carver typically writes stories, but also poems based on his life experiences. In
Raymond Carver s Late Fragment, a heavily enforced message is that it is not necessary to dwell on
the smaller things in life because in the end it s all up to how we feel we lived life. Carver s use of
diction throughout the poem helps to illustrate how we should live our life to the

The Wrongs Of Woman By Mary Wollstonecraft
Mary Wollstonecraft is hailed as a prominent figure in feminist history. Although viewed in her time
as a controversial figure, her works since have been highly regarded amongst feminist historians.
Throughout Mary s life the literature she produced, she produced with societal issues in the forefront
of her mind. Throughout her literature, Caroline Franklin explains: The need for and loss of maternal
love would become a recurring theme in Wollstonecraft s fiction. Wollstonecraft in her numerous
publications has clearly provided evidence to show her thoughts and opinion on current matters
varying from political to social. Her stance on women in regard to social standing, education and
issues such as marriage seep out of her writings. Wollstonecraft s second novel titled The wrongs of
woman contains the narrative from two women Maria and Jemima. The two women are from two
different social standings. The interesting notion in the novel is that Maria who is of higher social
standing provokes a reader to the thought she would live a better quality of life than Jemima her lower
class assistant. This is not the case as both women despite their class and wealth both have their
respective problems in life. Although at first thought one would assume some form of wealth being
from the upper classes, however whether intended or not, Wollstonecraft makes the reader come to the
conclusion that no matter her class a woman will not have wealth, not alone anyway. The evidence for

regicide. On the contrary, Lady Macbeth is not only unsatisfied with the result, her guilt also makes
her despair. In fact, she is not that brave as she pretends to be. She falls apart after King Duncan is
murdered and she talks to herself while sleepwalking, Here s the smell of the blood still. All the

Clinical Trial Essay
Clinical trials are often designed to test new biomedical or behavioral interventions such as new
treatments/drugs, prevention strategies, screening programs, diagnostic tests, and educational models.
The rapid increase in the costs of conducting clinical trials has made the efficient design of clinical
trials more important in recent years. For example, a new report published by Tufts Center for the
Study of Drug Development (CSDD) expresses that the costs of new drug development which is one
of the wide applications of clinical trials have been pegged at $2.558 billion, with a 145% increase
over an estimate made in 2003 [9].
2. Clinical trial classification
Clinical trials are divided into two main classes based on how participants are allocated to different
interventions: randomized and non randomized controlled trials [21]. Non randomized trials (also
called quasi experiment) assign participants to the treatments, procedures, or interventions by methods
that are not random. These trials are used when randomization is impractical and/or unethical. They
are typically easier to set up than randomized trials which need random assignment of subjects. Lack

subjects receive interventions A only, B only, both A and B, or neither A or B. Thus, the factorial

between two interventions (or treatments). For this reason, this trial design can be viewed as an
efficient way to conduct two trials in one. However, it is not recommended when comparing the two
interventions to each other is considered as a primary purpose

Magazines no longer give girls advice on how to grow up to be a respected person or a loving friend;
instead they give advice on how to hook up quick or make his dreams come true. Where has all the
wholesome advice gone? Women have let the idea of looking beautiful take over their self confidence

today s fashion models weigh twenty three percent less than the average female, and a young woman
between the ages of 18 34 has a seven percent chance of being as slim as a catwalk model and a one
percent chance of being as thin as a supermodel. So why do women push themselves to be excessively
thin when these models are anomalies? They do it because the media tells them that this look is the

It is true that sentencing is not like baking a cake; you cannot lay down in advance, for every case, the
exact ingredients and proportions, the exact temperature required... In sentencing, courts are not
dealing with standards and ingredients but with an infinite variety of offences, offenders and
situations. Nevertheless, there ought to be some definite criteria to decide the sentence. Taking a lead
in this direction, the Federal Authorities in U.S.A. established sentencing Institutes in 1957 to impart
some sort of training for magistrates in matters of sentencing. Sentencing Councils are also set up in
USA to discuss the problem of sentencing and adopting a uniform policy on judicial sentencing. In
England, vigorous efforts have been made by Lord Chief Justice ever since 1970 to ascertain definite
principles of sentencing. The length of the prison sentence is usually commensurate with the
seriousness of the offence as provided under the Criminal Justice Act, 1991. S.2(2) of the Act further
empowers the court to imprison a person convicted of a violent or sexual offence for longer than the
seriousness of the case requires, but not exceeding the maximum in any case. Another Act passed by
the British Parliament, namely, the Crime (Sentences) Act, 1997 has removed the provision of
remission from the penal code. In order to provide safeguard against the arbitrary use of judicial
discretion, efforts are being made to introduce computerized sentencing system ever since

The Battle of Pea Ridge and its Impact on the Civil War
The Civil War was a major point in American History. It has influenced everyone in America in many
ways. The War was conducted in two main areas of the United States. These two parts were in the area
east of the Mississippi River and in the area west of the Mississippi River. The control of both of these
fronts was vital for victory by either the Union or the Confederacy. On March 8, 1862, a small
skirmish at Pea Ridge, Arkansas led to the Union s domination of the west. The Battle of Pea Ridge
had a great impact on the civil war by giving control of the west to the Federal forces (Battle).

He had over sixteen thousand men and sixty five large guns (Civil). This was a three to two advantage
over the Federal group of 10,250 men (National).
He wasted this advantage by overworking his soldiers. He did this because he was sitting in an
ambulance while his soldiers were walking the whole way. Many of his soldiers fell to the side of the
road with blisters on their feet, unable to walk anymore. After several days of this, Van Dorn s army
finally reached Bentonville (Civil).
Despite Van Dorn s speedy march through the wintry terrain, the Federals, under General Samuel
Curtis, had learned of the Confederate advance from a Unionist resident of Fayetteville. This made
Curtis decide to concentrate his forces at Little Sugar Creek. He dug in there in wait of the
Confederate forces.
When Van Dorn learned of the Federal s knowledge of his position, he became more determined to
strike a blow against the Federals. He decided to lead his already weary army through a march in a
winter night. As they marched through the night, many more of Van Dorn s men fell out of ranks from
exhaustion. By the morning of March 7, they had reached Telegraph road, their goal. From this
position they could catch the Federals by surprise and force them to surrender (Civil). The Federals,
however, had learned of the Confederate s movements from their patrols. On Pea Ridge, they

Divinity school, specializes in scripture and interpretation from a feminist perspective. She has noticed
masculine language which dominates in the construction of the Historical Jesus and attempts to
challenge this language to reform the context of the quest for the Historical Jesus so it is all inclusive.
Jesus and the Politics of Interpretation is not another book which seeks to describe who the Historical
Jesus is; rather, it is a sustained rhetorical inquiry into the scholarly discourses that produce the
Historical Jesus as an article of trade and an object of spiritual consumption in the global capitalist
market . (Fiorenza 13) The Historical Jesus: A Guide for the Perplexed by Helen K. Bond is a
supplement to Fiorenza as it is full of the quests which Fiorenza desires to challenge. The Historical
Jesus as a symbolic scholarly construct and as an ideologically produced subject allows elite men to
be in a position which subordinates woman (Fiorenza 15). To combat the elite malestream perspective,
Fiorenza investigates the power and breaks it down in hopes of

The Stock Market Crash And The Drought
Growing up in a period of extreme poverty could only allow for the future to become brighter.
Although the Great Depression had many causes, the main two are the Stock Market Crash and the
drought. Because of these factors, many lives were changed for the worse. Families suffered losses of
money, lack of food, and relocation. Mentally, socially, and physically affecting the children, the Great
Depression created a generation of embarrassed, uneducated, and malnourished individuals.
The 1920s was a period that allowed people to purchase things using credit, but it eventually caught
up to them. The market rose quickly and individuals could not handle the sudden changes, resulting in
debt. Factories began firing employees and cutting back on production and at the same time, investors
began selling stock, causing prices to fall, leading to Black Tuesday . While this was taking place, the
drought affected the other half of the population. Farmers were unable to farm the hard, dry land,
which forced them to relocate to make money or find better land. When the economy took a turn for
the worse, many individuals, especially children, allowed it to overtake their minds and play games.
The mental impact from the Depression on the youth was among the greatest effects. A majority of
children became depressed during this horrifying time frame. There were extreme changes in food and
movies, which would create a weekend of sorrow for the children (Horowitz 679). The children would

The Lawmaking Process and the House Rules
It is no secret that the lawmaking process is a long winding road of difficulty and roadblocks. Without
a few representatives, a bill cannot be introduced in the House or into the Senate. If a bill is introduced
to the House, it is named a number with the letters HR before it. If it is taken to the Senate, then it s
given a number with the letter S before it. When presenting a bill, what is most important is who
supports said bill. Usually, more powerful members of Congress are wanted to sponsor a piece of
legislation for support for its path of approval. After the bill is introduced in either house, it is then
assigned to an appropriate sub committee in that chamber. If the subcommittee does not discuss the
bill or don t like it, the bill is never discussed again by either the committee or the full Congress.
However, if the full committee likes the bill and it is approved, then it is placed on agenda for a
complete discussion by the full chamber. This can seemingly be unusual because, according to Marc
A. Triebwasser, 90 percent of the legislation introduced into either the House or Senate never makes it
beyond the committee process. Committees have the ability to block the passage of the legislation
process even if the bill is popular enough to pass, so that is also another reason why it is difficult to
get bills past the committee process, such as the background check bill. Although 80 percent of
Americans and a clear majority in the Senate (54 out of 100) voting

Nuclear Proliferation
Andrew Jackson s farewell address to the nation, he stated, We shall more certainly preserve peace

States has always throughout history been a major military power from the use of abnormal tactics
during the Revolutionary War (1776) to the use of its technology and advanced weapons in the Persian
Gulf War (1991). After World War II and the Cold War Era, the United States has been able to defend

My Community Is The Best For The Most
My community is anyone who identifies as Mexican/Latino(a)/Chicano(a). I choose this community
because I believe there are issues that need to be addressed with the way Latinos are portrayed in
society. Right now, due to the media, if someone says illegal immigrants a person automatically thinks
about someone from Mexico. I believe this is a problem because it causes Mexicans to have a negative
stereotype, which often times include anyone who looks Mexican. After reading Rules for Radicals I
have learned that I need to start seeing the world how it is not were I want it to be before (Alinsky 12).
Alinsky defines ethics as doing what is best for the most (Alinsky 33). Since it is in the best interest
for my community to not have such a negative stereotype I plan to address this issue by educating
individuals on different issues that reinforce negative stereotypes such as calling an individual an
illegal immigrant. I believe this is important because no person can actually be illegal and using the
term alien to identify someones documented status is a form of dehumanization. I would also share
different forms to view Donald Trumps position on undocumented immigrants in order to ease tension
and share how his position is not very logical. My goal is for society, from the United States, to no
longer think of Mexicans as illegal immigrants, but rather refer to people who are here with out
residency as undocumented. I would also like if the world thought of everyone as

Imperialism In The Belgian Congo
Although in some imperialism improved the lives of the native people in the Belgian Congo by
providing modern infrastructure such as schools and hospitals, to a great extent imperialism made life
worse because of its effect on nationalism and traditions as well as, the physical and emotional strain
it inflicted in the Belgian Congo.
However, imperialism helped the native Congolians by providing modern forms of infrastructure.
Before the discovery of the African Congo, life in Africa was subpar. Lifespans were much shorter,
literacy and research were foreign concepts, and transportation was a mere fantasy. Infrastructure
provided the native Congolians with schools, hospitals, and railroads, giving them improved lifestyles.

The hospitals utilized modern medicine, such things as medicines and vaccines were all created in the
scientific laboratories that were also built in Africa. These laboratories were able to also teach the
Congolians how to make discoveries that would improve their lives without the aid of the Belgians.
Some of these advances included transportation. Improved forms of transportation were also a gifts

Affordable Care Act For Employers
If you work for a company and are employed on a part time basis, beware! Due to mandates going
into force by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act for employers, anyone working less than
30 hours most likely is going to go without health benefits at some point. PPACA, originally proposed
as a way to help control health care costs, quickly morphed into a vehicle to control the insurance
market. Regardless of your political bent, the end result of PPACA is that millions of employees are
losing their insurance coverage. What the @% #!!!
Many part timers are facing a double whammy from President Obama s health care reform. The law
requires large employers offering health insurance to include part time employees working 30 hours a
week or more. But rather than provide health care to more workers, a growing number of employers
are cutting back employee hours instead. The result: Not only will these workers earn less money, but
they ll also miss out on health insurance at work.
Across the nation, hundreds of thousands of other hourly workers may also see smaller paychecks in
the coming year because of this response to PPACA. The law exempts businesses with fewer than 50
full time workers from this requirement to provide benefits. But big restaurant chains, retailers, and
movie theaters are starting to trim employee hours. Even colleges are reducing courses for part time
professors to keep their hours down and avoid paying for their health premiums.

President Obama Is Exhausted, And For Good Reason
President Obama seems exhausted, and for good reason. With the success of the Paris conference, he
may now add significant action on climate change to his already sizable legacy. The triumph of
marriage equality, the beginning of the end of the drug war, the opening of Cuba that would have been
enough for any other president. The unemployment rate, which peaked at 10%, has now fallen to
5.9%. Thanks to Obamacare, the number of uninsured American adults has declined by 35%. As he
prepares to deliver his final State of the Union address, Obama has been squeezed nearly dry.
What will the left look like after Obama? In a little under a year, progressive America will have to live
without its biggest winner. The scope and magnitude of Obama s achievements provoke a unique type
of political despair. In the shade of his many successes, what hope can there be to solve the problems
that have not just continued unabated but grown in ferocity? Under an African American president, we
ve grown used to the fact that white police officers kill unarmed black civilians. Under a liberal
president, the rich have gotten richer and the middle class has stagnated. Fully 95% of income gains in
the recovery between 2009 and 2012 went to the wealthiest 1%.
The political crises of the moment are so profound ... that only the starkest, most radical change would
bring hope or change.

A Summary Of Vildar s Fight
Vildar flexed his fingers and put his elbow on the table. Tiber Grist shrugged and followed suit.
Arm wrestling. That s what the game is. Thought Holt. Probably not the best move Vildar had made,
especially drunk and against an opponent who was bigger and stronger than him. But strength was not
always the winner in these things, a little cunning always helped, and that s what Holt hoped to adopt.
They took their positions, hands interlocking. Tiber Grist grinned crookedly at his challenger.
Immediately Vildar s arm was driven back. Holt watched as his muscles locked taking the strain. Veins
in his arms and temples bulged, threatening to burst as he tried to force the stronger Gnomes arm

Holt had lied. In fact, he was very good at this. Eldon and himself often arm wrestled for fun, and like
Grist, Eldon was bigger and stronger than him.
But he did not need to win. For this plan to work. He needed to lose.
He took the strain, forcing the other Gnomes arm backwards. He might mean to lose the game but it
did not mean he was going to make it easy for Grist.
Holt continued to force the arm back. A look of startled surprise crossed Tiber Grist s features. A bead
of sweat ran down his face and dripped off the nose ring.
Slowly Holt released the pressure. Not enough to cause suspicion, just enough to let Grist think he was
gaining the upper hand.
Around them the other Gnome s bayed and chanted, slapping their hands and beer jugs on the wooden
benches.
Gradually Grist wrestled Holt s arm back until it was inches above the tabletop. Holt held it there,
showing the strain on his face. Then he let it go. Tiber Grist grinned in triumph. Well done, for a

Can employee morale and productivity be boosted in the work place through various program
incentives? I am proposing that a process be introduced which recognizes individual as well as team
contributions through other means. It has been noted in several readings and throughout companies
that employees with high morale are more productive than those unhappy counterparts. This is also a
way to reduce the cost associated with recruiting and training of new employees replacing those who
lack productivity and morale.
The basic principles of human motivation are a constant. Many employees in companies throughout
pride themselves on a new school approach to employee satisfaction issues. Years ago (and still for
some) the idea of if you don t like it than quit still exist but through the use of the items identified, that
approach wont be necessary. An overwhelming number of surveyed employees have the thought that
this way still exist at many companies. To gain a better understanding of how to motivate employees
to boost morale, management must first understand the basic human needs associated. Many of the
needs are best represented by Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Pyramid.
Many employers achieve satisfying the first level of needs identified as the physiological through
compensation. The income earned by employee is what is used to take care of needs such as food,
shelter, utilities

Reasons And Results Of The Civil War
Reasons and Results of the Civil War
The Civil War was a very critical event in American History. It started by many disagreements
between the North and the South. For blacks as for other Americans, the Civil War was a strong voice
preaching the needs for devotion and allegiance to form a justified nation. After the war ended there
were many results that would forever linger throughout America and the world. The South was known
as the Confederate States of America, seceded from the North, which was known as the Union. The
seceding of the South was because of four decades of intense sectional differences and conflicts
between both South and North. The secession of the Southern states was not an instinctive act.

On the other hand the South wanted to withhold all undetermined powers to the individual states and
to withhold all these projects. The predominant issue why the South seceded was the slavery issue.
The South wanted and called for slavery and would do anything they could to keep it. Cold heartedly
the slaves were items and if taken away would put a huge dent in investments towards Southerners.
The value to the slaveholding planter class was immeasurable. Northerners demanded for collective
bargaining to develop goals such as free education, better salaries and working conditions for workers,
and better rights for woman. Northerners said that slavery revoked the rights of a human to be a free
person. The subject of slavery left, and the North headed for war and eventually defeated the South in
the Civil War. Without this war I sorely would have to say that we could have been in a much more
segregated society than we already are. This war was needed in order to produce a stronger and more
stable country for everyone.
Slavery was abolished in the Union during Abraham Lincoln s presidency. Lincoln called it
Emancipation Proclamation. This movement was definitely a day of awakening for America as a
whole, which finally realized what free meant. All the Southern states would soon rejoin the Union.
After the war concluded

There is a prison that has an inmate population in the billions. It s a prison without walls, without

That prison is in our minds. It is a prison that holds back our initiative, our talent, our ability to

That prison is fear. Our lives today are controlled by fear more than we know. Fear controls the

Similarities And Differences Of The Han And Han Dynasty
The Qin and Han
The Qin and the Han are two equally important dynasties that greatly expanded in their reign,
although both the Qin and the Han had its own ideas on expansion. In fifteen years, the Qin Dynasty
united the seven warring states. Emperor Qin s rule resulted in the isolation of China from foreigners
and brought upon strict rules and the removal of freedom. Under Emperor Qin s rule, any action
people took which angered the ruler could result in harsh punishment. Consequently, people were
unhappy and often suffered from poverty. On the other hand, The Han dynasty lasted 426 years and
managed to conquer more land, which gradually expanded and formed what China now is today.
While isolation from the outside world was still present ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Subsequent to the unification, the laws and punishments were harsh due to the different ruling in each
of the 7 warring states. Qin Shi Huangdi the first emperor of the Qin dynasty was a dictator, thus,
people were discontent. As a result, there were assassination attempts that attributed in his phobia of
death and foreigners were banned from the area. To reduce the chances of a rebellion amongst the
people, books were burnt restricting their knowledge on other philosophies and to silence criticism of
imperial rule, the kings banished or put to death many dissenting Confucian scholars (HELLO). Since
they did not have free will, the citizens were constantly in fear, this held the empire together, instead
of breaking apart into different ruling systems. The Han dynasty also resembles this trait of isolation
as expansion did not start immediately. The dynasty had to establish rules and a proper government to
rule the people. At the start it was quite successful but there were a few disputes and an attempt to
change the royal bloodline. Only when emperor Wudi took throne did expansion move forward. Due
to his persistence, he built up their army and defeated the Huns in spite of previous attempts to avoid
battles with people outside of China. However, militarism was expensive, causing the taxes to rise and

The Community Stability Act ( Csa ) Essay
The Community Stability Act (CSA) is a policy designed to reduce housing transiency in low income
urban and rural communities by providing housing subsidies to low income families, and financial
assistance to families at risk of or experiencing eviction. The CSA will alleviate poverty through
removing the various stressors associated with housing transiency, and have subsidiary effects related
to education and economic opportunity. This policy is predicated on one key understanding. It is
indisputable that the nature of the housing market has changed most urban low income households are
spending a significant portion of their income ( 50%) on housing expenses. The present is an
aberration of long held expectations that housing costs should not exceed 30% of one s income and it
needs to be addressed. However, the problem of housing costs is multifaceted, and addressing it
requires systemic changes (augmenting the power dynamic between labor and capital in the U.S.,
fixating on public and affordable housing rather than private development) that would not be practical
in the current political environment, or in the foreseeable future. This policy, in contrast, derives its
attractiveness from how it can be framed, and the widespread effects (from a geographical and
socioeconomic perspective) that it will have. The CSA will provide a housing subsidy to all parents of
schoolchildren (aged four to eighteen). The subsidy would reduce the family s housing costs to 30% of

This case study provides the challenges facing the health care industry in details and proposes
plausible solutions to the arising issues. The paper focuses specifically on three major challenges: the
shortage of labor force for the physician extenders (nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician

cybersecurity.
The healthcare system makes provision for the prevention, treatment, and management of illness and

healthcare system and the critical issues confronting healthcare professionals as they struggle to
combine science, information and compassion.
With the implementation of the affordable care act (ACA) in March 2010. There was an expectation to
revolutionize the U.S. health care system. The expectation was to make the health care more
affordable to everyone. In doing this unexpected challenges to the health care system providers arose.
When the newly insured were provided with health care coverage many of the newly insured try to use
their health benefits. Health care providers reported higher than expected use of oncology, maternity,
musculoskeletal and other specialty services, from the newly insured. As the population of health care
users grew in size after the ACA the health care labor force did not grow appropriately to
accommodate such drastic changes in the frequent usage of health care facilities by the newly insured.

explain that these challenges are the result of frequent updates to the operating system and the
constant attempts to communicate externally. Accordingly, it is imperative that forensic examiners
employ proper evidence handling of mobile devices to prevent contamination and/or data destruction.
For this reason, forensic examiners should employ a mobile forensic process that will provide the
necessary procedures to follow for conducting a forensically sound investigation. As a result, the
process model for mobile forensics will encompass four phases. Ayers et al. (2014) describes these

Reporting, this provides a detailed report describing procedures, observations, and results. For this
reason, it is imperative that the forensic examiner maintains all documentation, notes, images, and
steps taken in a clear and concise manner that can be repeated by another forensic examiner.
Strengths and Weaknesses
There are a few advantages of the forensic methodology regarding mobile forensics. One of the
advantages is the ability to search a digital device that 64% of Americans utilize on a daily basis. As a
result, this media permits forensic examiners to acquire, analyze, and examine texts, emails, phone
calls, images, and internet history. Also, since current smartphones are heavily employed for GPS,
location tracking is also possible. Additionally, there have been advances in forensic tools that are
exclusive for mobile forensics that were developed by companies like Cellebrite and MSAB (XRY
tool).
However, even though there are specialized forensic tools available, they are not completely reliable.
Gogolin (2013) attributes this to the misperception that a mobile forensic tool can be reliably
employed for every device, when in fact it may not support as many devices as advertised.
Additionally, Raghav and Saxena (2009) describe several challenges that examiners may encounter,
for example:
is the mobile device functional or has it been damaged (water or physical damage);

Persuasive Essay On Forgiveness
In a biblical manner, forgiveness roughly translates to letting go . Instead of holding a grudge to the
offender, we should give them pardon. In Luke 11:4, we are given the passage of: And forgive us our
sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver
us from evil. Jesus used an example of this when comparing a person seeking repayment from a debt
found in Matthew 18:23 35. Likewise, the act of forgiving does not come easy. In order to begin the
journey of forgiveness, one should first let go of any resentment towards the particular person or
situation that is causing destress. Once the resentment is gone, one can attempt to abandon the notion
of being rewarded for their loss whether financial, personal, or something else. Forgiveness also
entails benefits that can improve health and increase our progress towards living a wholesome
Christian life. Proverbs 14:30 tells us that a heart with a peace and calmness in it gives life to the body
but one with jealousy and bitterness leads to wrong desires similar to rotting bones. However, the
greatest part to forgiving others is to exemplify how God forgave us for our own sins. In order to be
forgiven by God, we must forgive people for their sins. If we fail to do this though, God will not
forgive us for our sins (Matthew 6:14 15). 2 Peter 1:10 dictates that Christians should be more eager in
making their calling and election since doing these makes sure that we will never fail. Our calling is
God s salvation for us while our election is God picking us to be saved. Since God called and elected
on us from his own glory and goodness, we must serve as examples to others by pursuing Godly
virtues while actively living in a Christian lifestyle. Numerous people struggle in letting go of their
respective past and carry on their baggage into their future. Not only does this prevent them from
growing, it prevents them from achieving a happy life. As we interact with people similar to this, we
can show them that they too can be resolved from their past issues.
Personally, I forgive pretty easily as I think holding grudges is a waste of time and does not
accomplish anything positive. However, I did have a hard time

  • 2. The Last Judgement Tympanum At St-Lazare Analysis The Last Judgment tympanum at Saint Lazare is also incredibly significant due to the fact that no other tympanum from the Romanesque is so boldly and recognizably claimed by the artist. In the middle of the composition is the phrase Gislebertus hoc fecit , which roughly translates to Gislebertus made this and serves as the alleged artist s signature. As mentioned previously, few of the large stoneworks from this era can be directly linked to a specific person. The signature left behind at Saint Lazare can be easily interpreted as a big display of artistic confidence, a quality more frequently seen from master artists of the Renaissance and onward. During this period, Romanesque sculptures attached to architecture were relegated in status to secondary importance to stonemasons, and the tympanums were seen as very separate objects. By placing his signature here, Gislebertus claims the piece as his own work and firmly establishes himself as an artist rather than simply a sculptor. There are historians who question whether the signature left behind is actually indicative of patronage rather than the artist responsible for it; a patron placing themselves within a piece ... When one door closes, another opens; life s difficulties, obstacles, and challenges are all stepping stones for greater experiences. This is shown In Ordinary People by Judith Guest. The Jarrett family recently loses their son, Buck in a sailing accident. Beth and Calvin, the parents, and Conrad, their younger son, deal with the sudden loss in different ways. Conrad, Calvin and Beth gieve over Buck s death. This takes each of them an extended period of time because they all have different coping strategies. She is also one who does not show her emotions, especially towards Conrad. Throughout the book she seems to avoid conrad after he tried to attempt suicide. Perhaps she favored Buck, and blames Conrad for his death, or can t forgive Conrad for being depressed and attempting suicide.Beth has pushed away her son and her husband. This exposes how Beth will never forgive Conrad for attempting suicide, she will always have a grudge against him. What kind of mother is beth to abandoned her child over a act of depression? In Ordinary People, by Judith Guest, the following characters Conrad, Calvin and Beth all are affected by Buck s death in several different ways. While reading Ordinary People, the story line taught me that healing after the most horrific experiences is possible, but the challenges that come along the way will teach you lessons that you will never forget. • 5. Design of Information Quality Information quality is often a key dimension of end user satisfaction instruments (Ives et al., 1983; Baroudi Orlikowski, 1988; Doll et al., 1994). Information quality is often not distinguished as a unique construct to measure success but is measured as a component of user satisfaction. Fraser Salter (1995) developed a generic scale of information quality, and others have developed their own scales using the literature that is relevant to the type of information system under study (Coombs et al., 2001; Wixom Watson, 2001; Gable et al., 2003) whereby the domain basically depend a lot on the dimension of user satisfaction, how they perceive the information quality and whether it increases their job effectiveness. Ackoff (1967) mentions five misconceptions underlying the design of information quality and states: The most important informational deficiency the managers suffer from is abundance of irrelevant information . Information quality dissatisfaction, such as incorrect information due to data errors and irrelevant information still exist even today (Strong et al., 1997). In other words, software quality today is no better than it was decades ago (Whittaker and Voas, 2006; Parnas, 2003), plagued with problems such as hard to use user interfaces and fragmented software modules that are difficult to integrate which finally is related to the perceived information of an information quality of an end user. The periods of the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo were periods not only for the art flourishment but also, for the scientific knowledge growth. So, in those periods, the relationship between art and science was so clear and attractive. This essay will discuss the relationship between the arts and the growing body of scientific knowledge during the three major stylistic periods. In addition to explaining how the artists used new scientific knowledge in their work. In the Middle Ages, the church had banned the studying of the human body, and the artists did not depict it. That could be because they consider the human body to be guilty, sinful and the cause of lure. For that reason, arts do not accurately reflect the human bodies in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One can really think that Moses is looking at them due to its accurate details and measurements. Moreover, the rediscovery of the linear perspective by Brunelleschi, and the invention of the printing press in the periods of the Italian and Northern Renaissance affected the art. (Dauben, n.d.). Also, they show the relationship between art and science obviously. To say it clearly, with the linear perspective we managed to feel ourselves belonging to the paintings as space and dimensions became enough for us to place ourselves there. Also, thanks to it, we can see the design for buildings the same way it will look in the real world. Brunelleschi s elevation of Santo Spirito was the first painting using this technique. So, I think it is the best example to show that. Moving to the Baroque period, there was development in different fields of the scientific knowledge. It was the time when people looked through the microscopes for the first time, and when Sir Bacon put the basis for the scientific thinking using hypothesis testing. (Wolford, n.d.). So, I will choose one of Galilei s paintings, namely Frontispiece for the Opere di Galileo Galilei to represent this period. This painting shows how art, represented in Galilei, is connected to Mathematics, optics, and astronomy. I think Galilei wanted to say that art is a science, and it can t be separated away from the other sciences. In the Rococo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The scene would take place at their house in New York, after they have returned from an extended stay at their beach house. John has just received his offer from the Mayo Clinic, and Lydia is planning to fly in from Los Angeles to stay with her mother. Alice is still trying to comprehend the idea of John taking a new job in a new state, as she was hoping he would take a sabbatical and spend a year with her during her time of declining cognition. The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett. The Postman Always Rings Twice by James M Cain. It caused a scandal with its explosive mix of violence and sex. The torrid story of Frank Chambers, the amoral drifter, Cora, the sullen and brooding wife, and Nick Papadakis, the amiable but inconvenient husband, has become a classic of its kind, and established Cain as a major novelist with a spare and vital prose style and a bleak vision of America. These situations will definitely make a curiosity in eyes of the reader than the normal occasions. The Setting As we discussed earlier the setting for hardboiled detective fiction is usually a large city, an urban area, or an industrial area. The cities tend to be dark, dangerous places run by corrupt politicians, gangster syndicates, and an occasional corrupt police officer. Often the stories themselves have more night scenes than daylight scenes, which contribute to the overall dark atmosphere of the stories thus, can create more mind blowing occasions. The primary purpose of this poem is to use imagery to paint a picture of the dying religious presence in the world that the speaker finds himself in. This is the central message that Matthew Arnold is trying to get across to his audience. An excellent example of how Arnold translates this to the reader is how the tone of the first eight lines and the tone of the final three lines of the poem differ from each other. The speaker has taken us from a tone of tranquility and joyfulness to instead one of hopelessness and gloom. The final two lines depict death and blind violence, Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight / Where ignorant armies clash by night (Arnold 36,37). The speaker specifically describes the armies as clashing by night , in order to suggest that with the blackness of night the fighters are most likely not only killing their enemies but also their allies. • 11. Late Fragment By Raymond Carver Analysis Poetry; a gift from the gods of literature, blessing all those that read it with intellect and awareness of very important issues or even a fun piece of writing to indulge in. Throughout history, many influential writers have made an impact on society with their writing. Raymond Carver, an award winning writer, wrote many poems and stories throughout his career that shaped writing for many other poets. Carver was born into a family of poverty and from a young age, he did not have an ideal relationship with his parents due to the strong use of alcohol by his father. Later on in his life, Carver became an alcoholic and tried to distance himself from everyone around him and a career in life. It was very clear that he was going down a very negative path; Carver got into a toxic marriage, was diagnosed with cancer, was hospitalized for his drinking problems many times and was going to die. Once he moved to California and found his passion for literature, his whole life seemed to have turned around. He began to feel happier, quit drinking, divorced his first wife and married the love of his life, Tess Gallagher. Carver typically writes stories, but also poems based on his life experiences. In Raymond Carver s Late Fragment, a heavily enforced message is that it is not necessary to dwell on the smaller things in life because in the end it s all up to how we feel we lived life. Carver s use of diction throughout the poem helps to illustrate how we should live our life to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Wrongs Of Woman By Mary Wollstonecraft Mary Wollstonecraft is hailed as a prominent figure in feminist history. Although viewed in her time as a controversial figure, her works since have been highly regarded amongst feminist historians. Throughout Mary s life the literature she produced, she produced with societal issues in the forefront of her mind. Throughout her literature, Caroline Franklin explains: The need for and loss of maternal love would become a recurring theme in Wollstonecraft s fiction. Wollstonecraft in her numerous publications has clearly provided evidence to show her thoughts and opinion on current matters varying from political to social. Her stance on women in regard to social standing, education and issues such as marriage seep out of her writings. Wollstonecraft s second novel titled The wrongs of woman contains the narrative from two women Maria and Jemima. The two women are from two different social standings. The interesting notion in the novel is that Maria who is of higher social standing provokes a reader to the thought she would live a better quality of life than Jemima her lower class assistant. This is not the case as both women despite their class and wealth both have their respective problems in life. Although at first thought one would assume some form of wealth being from the upper classes, however whether intended or not, Wollstonecraft makes the reader come to the conclusion that no matter her class a woman will not have wealth, not alone anyway. Clinical Trial Essay Clinical trials are often designed to test new biomedical or behavioral interventions such as new treatments/drugs, prevention strategies, screening programs, diagnostic tests, and educational models. The rapid increase in the costs of conducting clinical trials has made the efficient design of clinical trials more important in recent years. For example, a new report published by Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development (CSDD) expresses that the costs of new drug development which is one of the wide applications of clinical trials have been pegged at $2.558 billion, with a 145% increase over an estimate made in 2003 [9]. 2. Clinical trial classification Clinical trials are divided into two main classes based on how participants are allocated to different interventions: randomized and non randomized controlled trials [21]. Non randomized trials (also called quasi experiment) assign participants to the treatments, procedures, or interventions by methods that are not random. Healthy Place, an online magazine teaching women about living a healthy life, says that, today s fashion models weigh twenty three percent less than the average female, and a young woman between the ages of 18 34 has a seven percent chance of being as slim as a catwalk model and a one percent chance of being as thin as a supermodel. So why do women push themselves to be excessively thin when these models are anomalies? They do it because the media tells them that this look is the only look that can attract men. Taking a lead in this direction, the Federal Authorities in U.S.A. established sentencing Institutes in 1957 to impart some sort of training for magistrates in matters of sentencing. Sentencing Councils are also set up in USA to discuss the problem of sentencing and adopting a uniform policy on judicial sentencing. The length of the prison sentence is usually commensurate with the seriousness of the offence as provided under the Criminal Justice Act, 1991. S.2(2) of the Act further empowers the court to imprison a person convicted of a violent or sexual offence for longer than the seriousness of the case requires, but not exceeding the maximum in any case. The control of both of these fronts was vital for victory by either the Union or the Confederacy. On March 8, 1862, a small skirmish at Pea Ridge, Arkansas led to the Union s domination of the west. Many of his soldiers fell to the side of the road with blisters on their feet, unable to walk anymore. After several days of this, Van Dorn s army finally reached Bentonville (Civil). • 19. The Contemporary Historical-Jesus By Elisabeth Schüssler... The contemporary Historical Jesus is in a kyriarchal structure of domination which belittles feminism and Judaism. In Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza s book, Jesus and the Politics of Interpretation, Fiorenza seeks to break the kyriarchal context in which Jesus is and foster an identity crisis in the scientific self understanding of the Historical Jesus scholarship (Fiorenza 2). Fiorenza, a professor at Harvard Divinity school, specializes in scripture and interpretation from a feminist perspective. She has noticed masculine language which dominates in the construction of the Historical Jesus and attempts to challenge this language to reform the context of the quest for the Historical Jesus so it is all inclusive. Jesus and the Politics of Interpretation is not another book which seeks to describe who the Historical Jesus is; rather, it is a sustained rhetorical inquiry into the scholarly discourses that produce the Historical Jesus as an article of trade and an object of spiritual consumption in the global capitalist market . (Fiorenza 13) The Historical Jesus: A Guide for the Perplexed by Helen K. Bond is a supplement to Fiorenza as it is full of the quests which Fiorenza desires to challenge. Although the Great Depression had many causes, the main two are the Stock Market Crash and the drought. Because of these factors, many lives were changed for the worse. Families suffered losses of money, lack of food, and relocation. Mentally, socially, and physically affecting the children, the Great Depression created a generation of embarrassed, uneducated, and malnourished individuals. The 1920s was a period that allowed people to purchase things using credit, but it eventually caught up to them. The market rose quickly and individuals could not handle the sudden changes, resulting in debt. Factories began firing employees and cutting back on production and at the same time, investors began selling stock, causing prices to fall, leading to Black Tuesday . While this was taking place, the drought affected the other half of the population. Farmers were unable to farm the hard, dry land, which forced them to relocate to make money or find better land. When the economy took a turn for the worse, many individuals, especially children, allowed it to overtake their minds and play games. • 23. The Lawmaking Process and the House Rules It is no secret that the lawmaking process is a long winding road of difficulty and roadblocks. Without a few representatives, a bill cannot be introduced in the House or into the Senate. If a bill is introduced to the House, it is named a number with the letters HR before it. If it is taken to the Senate, then it s given a number with the letter S before it. When presenting a bill, what is most important is who supports said bill. Usually, more powerful members of Congress are wanted to sponsor a piece of legislation for support for its path of approval. After the bill is introduced in either house, it is then assigned to an appropriate sub committee in that chamber. If the subcommittee does not discuss the bill or don t like it, the bill is never discussed again by either the committee or the full Congress. However, if the full committee likes the bill and it is approved, then it is placed on agenda for a complete discussion by the full chamber. This can seemingly be unusual because, according to Marc A. Triebwasser, 90 percent of the legislation introduced into either the House or Senate never makes it beyond the committee process. Committees have the ability to block the passage of the legislation process even if the bill is popular enough to pass, so that is also another reason why it is difficult to get bills past the committee process, such as the background check bill. Right now, due to the media, if someone says illegal immigrants a person automatically thinks about someone from Mexico. I believe this is a problem because it causes Mexicans to have a negative stereotype, which often times include anyone who looks Mexican. After reading Rules for Radicals I have learned that I need to start seeing the world how it is not were I want it to be before (Alinsky 12). Alinsky defines ethics as doing what is best for the most (Alinsky 33). Since it is in the best interest for my community to not have such a negative stereotype I plan to address this issue by educating individuals on different issues that reinforce negative stereotypes such as calling an individual an illegal immigrant. I believe this is important because no person can actually be illegal and using the term alien to identify someones documented status is a form of dehumanization. I would also share different forms to view Donald Trumps position on undocumented immigrants in order to ease tension and share how his position is not very logical. The seceding of the South was because of four decades of intense sectional differences and conflicts between both South and North. The secession of the Southern states was not an instinctive act. Situations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand the South wanted to withhold all undetermined powers to the individual states and to withhold all these projects. The predominant issue why the South seceded was the slavery issue. The South wanted and called for slavery and would do anything they could to keep it. Cold heartedly the slaves were items and if taken away would put a huge dent in investments towards Southerners. The value to the slaveholding planter class was immeasurable. Northerners demanded for collective bargaining to develop goals such as free education, better salaries and working conditions for workers, and better rights for woman. Northerners said that slavery revoked the rights of a human to be a free person. The subject of slavery left, and the North headed for war and eventually defeated the South in the Civil War. Without this war I sorely would have to say that we could have been in a much more segregated society than we already are. This war was needed in order to produce a stronger and more stable country for everyone. Slavery was abolished in the Union during Abraham Lincoln s presidency. Lincoln called it Emancipation Proclamation. This movement was definitely a day of awakening for America as a whole, which finally realized what free meant. All the Southern states would soon rejoin the Union. After the war concluded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Similarities And Differences Of The Han And Han Dynasty The Qin and Han The Qin and the Han are two equally important dynasties that greatly expanded in their reign, although both the Qin and the Han had its own ideas on expansion. In fifteen years, the Qin Dynasty united the seven warring states. Emperor Qin s rule resulted in the isolation of China from foreigners and brought upon strict rules and the removal of freedom. Under Emperor Qin s rule, any action people took which angered the ruler could result in harsh punishment. Consequently, people were unhappy and often suffered from poverty. On the other hand, The Han dynasty lasted 426 years and managed to conquer more land, which gradually expanded and formed what China now is today. • 38. The Community Stability Act ( Csa ) Essay The Community Stability Act (CSA) is a policy designed to reduce housing transiency in low income urban and rural communities by providing housing subsidies to low income families, and financial assistance to families at risk of or experiencing eviction. The CSA will alleviate poverty through removing the various stressors associated with housing transiency, and have subsidiary effects related to education and economic opportunity. This policy is predicated on one key understanding. It is indisputable that the nature of the housing market has changed most urban low income households are spending a significant portion of their income ( 50%) on housing expenses. The present is an aberration of long held expectations that housing costs should not exceed 30% of one s income and it needs to be addressed. However, the problem of housing costs is multifaceted, and addressing it requires systemic changes (augmenting the power dynamic between labor and capital in the U.S., fixating on public and affordable housing rather than private development) that would not be practical in the current political environment, or in the foreseeable future. This policy, in contrast, derives its attractiveness from how it can be framed, and the widespread effects (from a geographical and socioeconomic perspective) that it will have. The CSA will provide a housing subsidy to all parents of schoolchildren (aged four to eighteen). The subsidy would reduce the family s housing costs to 30% of said ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The paper focuses specifically on three major challenges: the shortage of labor force for the physician extenders (nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants), lack of primary health care due to overspecialization of the physician workforce, and cybersecurity. The healthcare system makes provision for the prevention, treatment, and management of illness and the preservation of mental and physical well being of patients through services offered by the medical, nursing, and allied health professions. With the implementation of the affordable care act (ACA) in March 2010. There was an expectation to revolutionize the U.S. health care system. The expectation was to make the health care more affordable to everyone. In doing this unexpected challenges to the health care system providers arose. When the newly insured were provided with health care coverage many of the newly insured try to use their health benefits. Health care providers reported higher than expected use of oncology, maternity, musculoskeletal and other specialty services, from the newly insured. As the population of health care users grew in size after the ACA the health care labor force did not grow appropriately to accommodate such drastic changes in the frequent usage of health care facilities by the newly insured. According to the Health Care Worker Shortage: Suggested Responses from the Surgical Community by Jeanette and Andrew, the demand for healthcare professionals was predicted to grow about 25% between 2002 and 2010. Registered nurses (RNs), the largest healthcare professional group in the U.S., were particularly in demand. Of the 2.7 million RNs registered in 2002, only 10% were less than 30 years of age, and the average age, 45 years old according to 2002 data, had been increasingly steadily. • 41. A Study On Forensic Forensics explain that these challenges are the result of frequent updates to the operating system and the constant attempts to communicate externally. Accordingly, it is imperative that forensic examiners employ proper evidence handling of mobile devices to prevent contamination and/or data destruction. For this reason, forensic examiners should employ a mobile forensic process that will provide the necessary procedures to follow for conducting a forensically sound investigation. As a result, the process model for mobile forensics will encompass four phases. Ayers et al. (2014) describes these phases as: Preservation, which encompasses searching, recognition, documentation, and collection of digital evidence to ensure admissibility in a court of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reporting, this provides a detailed report describing procedures, observations, and results. For this reason, it is imperative that the forensic examiner maintains all documentation, notes, images, and steps taken in a clear and concise manner that can be repeated by another forensic examiner. Strengths and Weaknesses There are a few advantages of the forensic methodology regarding mobile forensics. One of the advantages is the ability to search a digital device that 64% of Americans utilize on a daily basis. As a result, this media permits forensic examiners to acquire, analyze, and examine texts, emails, phone calls, images, and internet history. Also, since current smartphones are heavily employed for GPS, location tracking is also possible. Additionally, there have been advances in forensic tools that are exclusive for mobile forensics that were developed by companies like Cellebrite and MSAB (XRY tool). However, even though there are specialized forensic tools available, they are not completely reliable. Gogolin (2013) attributes this to the misperception that a mobile forensic tool can be reliably employed for every device, when in fact it may not support as many devices as advertised. Additionally, Raghav and Saxena (2009) describe several challenges that examiners may encounter, for example: is the mobile device functional or has it been damaged (water or physical damage); the type of mobile device (smartphone or ... • 42. Persuasive Essay On Forgiveness In a biblical manner, forgiveness roughly translates to letting go . Instead of holding a grudge to the offender, we should give them pardon. In Luke 11:4, we are given the passage of: And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Jesus used an example of this when comparing a person seeking repayment from a debt found in Matthew 18:23 35. Likewise, the act of forgiving does not come easy. In order to begin the journey of forgiveness, one should first let go of any resentment towards the particular person or situation that is causing destress. Once the resentment is gone, one can attempt to abandon the notion of being rewarded for their loss whether financial, personal, or something else. Forgiveness also entails benefits that can improve health and increase our progress towards living a wholesome Christian life. Proverbs 14:30 tells us that a heart with a peace and calmness in it gives life to the body but one with jealousy and bitterness leads to wrong desires similar to rotting bones. However, the greatest part to forgiving others is to exemplify how God forgave us for our own sins. In order to be forgiven by God, we must forgive people for their sins. If we fail to do this though, God will not forgive us for our sins (Matthew 6:14 15). 2 Peter 1:10 dictates that Christians should be more eager in making their calling and election since doing these makes sure that we will never fail. Our calling is God s salvation for us while our election is God picking us to be saved. Since God called and elected on us from his own glory and goodness, we must serve as examples to others by pursuing Godly virtues while actively living in a Christian lifestyle. Numerous people struggle in letting go of their respective past and carry on their baggage into their future. Not only does this prevent them from growing, it prevents them from achieving a happy life. As we interact with people similar to this, we can show them that they too can be resolved from their past issues. Personally, I forgive pretty easily as I think holding grudges is a waste of time and does not accomplish anything positive. However, I did have a hard time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
