Positive Youth Development Programs
A positive youth development program is designed to help young adults overcome their challenges
and live up to their full potential. Youth development is emphasized through different activities which
helps the youth emotionally, physically, and socially. Youth development programs are basically used
to help them regain confidence, and how to bounce back to a normal life. My program name is
Helping Hands, which will be based on abused youth in African American public schools. The motto
for my program is Not all hands are helpful, but our hands are guaranteed life changers. When
organizing a program knowing the population, how it works, and its essentials are mandatory for a
successful youth development program. The name of my youth development program is called
Helping Hands. This program will focus on abused youth in African American public schools, grades
9th 12th. This program will focus on these grades because a lot of the youth feel like they can deal
with things like this on their own. If needed, we also help any other youth who aren t it in grades 9 12.
The phrase No child is left behind not only counts for educational purposes but also for my program,
we re here to help anyone. This program will start nationally then hopefully, make its way to
international. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We will work closely with the guidance counselors, on helping the youth get out of these situations.
While working with the counselors, the youth with learn how to positively cope with the environment
they re in, until we get them out of those abusive situations. Our focus is not to draw a lot of attention
to these abused youth, because we don t want them to feel embarrassed, anymore than they already
are. Once out of the situation, we will not just forget about our youth, we will still make frequent visit
to the school to check on

The Legend Of Zelda s Mask
What is the most mysterious video game you have ever played? The Legend of Zelda: Majora s Mask
is by far the darkest entry in the series (Beast). Majora s Mask, the mysterious pastime that gave its
creators nightmares, is not only one of the best participants in the Legend of Zelda series, but also one
of the top games of all time. Even though it had a slow start, because Nintendo s rival released the
PlayStation 2, a few days after Majora s Mask was released, in spite of this, it still claimed its spot as
one of the greatest technological amusements of all time (Luckerson). Majora s Mask received many
incredible ratings, many of which were near perfect scores.

The mask finally now free, immediately began its plot to destroy the earth. Skull Kid summoned the
moon to come crashing down on Termina. In the interim, with three days of life left for everyone,
Link swiftly solved everyone s problems and re ascended the moon back to space.
This three day period is not only an excellent addition to the story, but it is also a great challenge for
players. Time steadily passes in the game while you play, with the daylight giving way to the night...
(Stratton 14). Each day is 18 minutes long, allowing for a whopping 54 minutes of game time
(Mirabella). Accordingly, this added pressure can easily stump beginning players, but for masters of
Majora s Mask, time seems to stand still. The developers did not leave players without a remedy for
this time limit though; they provided players with the Ocarina of Time.
Given to Link by Princess Zelda, this magical instrument calls forth legendary powers to aid Link in
his quest (Stratton 21). The most useful way that Link can use the Ocarina of Time is to slow time
down, which doubles those precious 54 minutes into 108 stress free minutes. In addition to this, Link
can use his Ocarina is to travel back to the dawn of the first day of the story. This allows him another
three days to try to save the world again. Most people who had complaints toward Majora s Mask
were specifically unhappy about the time limit. For this reason, they complained

The Importance Of Revenge In William Shakespeare s Hamlet
Who ever thought acting out revenge would be so difficult. In the story, Hamlet, we have a young man
who is seeking revenge for the death of his father. The person responsible his death was Hamlet s
uncle, Claudius. Hamlet contemplates killing Claudius many times throughout the play. There is much
speculation as to why Hamlet hesitated, and why he didn t just kill Claudius as quickly as possible.
Hamlet wants to ensure he did it right and that it was a righteous killing. Hamlet had every reason to
be angry with Claudius, for he murdered his father. Hamlet, throughout almost the entire play, was
completely dedicated to killing Claudius. But, Hamlet need proof to accomplish his task. Deep down,
Hamlet is a good man. This does not mean that he was perfect, nor does it mean that he was incredibly
righteous in every aspect. But, he was a good man because he always examined what it was he was
doing, or what he was planning. This explains why Hamlet contemplated killing Claudius. Hamlet is
unsure if he should kill his uncle; would he be a thought of a coward. Should he partake in the death
of his uncle? He examined these things to ensure that he went about vengeance in the most righteous
manner possible for him. It was not merely a murder for revenge, but a murder for the kingdom. It was
not for Hamlet alone, but for the society that had been harmed by the existence and the actions of
Claudius. Hamlet understood this, and needed all his time of investigation to clearly establish

The Underlying Courage in “A Wrinkle in Time”
The Underlying Courage in A Wrinkle in Time Typically in novels there are many supporting themes
to create the storyline in the novel; in A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L Engle a major theme in the
novel is courage. It shows in almost every chapter, through Margaret (Meg) Murry and Charles
Wallace Murry. The quest the kids go through in the novel corresponds to Joseph Campbell s Hero s
journey also the type of courage found within the Christian framework. Courage is having the strength
to resist and endure fear, danger, and difficulty; it is the main thing that can keep the children together

The Beginnings Of Intellectual Property Rights
Beginnings of Intellectual Property Rights Intellectual property rights will remain a part of
international trade agreements in the future, but the global activity will likely be characterized by
varying standards and improved enforcement, reflecting evolution in social, cultural and political
attitudes, and a deeper understanding of the relationships among innovation, creation and the more
efficient distribution of intellectual property. Increased cooperation might occur at the governance
level. Many of the fast and unprecedented changes in intellectual property law and policy over the past
two decades are due to their intersection with international trade and the numerous international trade
agreements negotiated and brought into force ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Underlying this activity are changes to intellectual property rights laws and policies. The following are
the major enforcement inadequacies in the protection of intellectual property rights: No preliminary or
final injunctive relief, lack of seizure and impoundment relief, lack of exclusion of infringing imports,
lack of compulsory court process and/or discovery, inadequate civil remedies, usually in monetary
dam ages, limits on recoveries preclude deterrent effects, fine or other criminal penalties inadequate,
unreasonably slow enforcement process during which illegal activity continues, enforcement officials
systematically discriminate against foreigners, training and resources for enforcement inadequate,
court decisions biased or political, and corruption. The efforts to protect intellectual property rights
suffer from three major problems: institutional issues, philosophical issues, and handling of new
technologies. The institutional issues refer to the shortcomings of existing regimes and their
enforcement. To begin with, the signatories to specific agreements are limited. Thus, countries that are
not a part of the agreement do not have to subscribe to its provisions. Further, the agreements lack
enforcement powers. In addition, the agreements per se are limited

Quality Improvement Data
Quality improvement data: Using QI instruments to address high readmission rates and medication
errors Keeping track of quality improvement data is essential for all organizations: not simply for for
profit entities, but also for not for profit organizations such as hospitals. Patient readmission rates and
medication errors are serious issues at many healthcare organizations. Using quality improvement
instruments such as a fishbone (Ishikawa) diagram: which can identify many possible causes for an
effect or problem and sorts ideas into useful categories and a Pareto chart, which shows on a bar graph
which factors are more significant can help pinpoint the root causes of chronic problems that seem to
arise from a multitude of factors (Cause analysis tools, 2013, ASQ). The standard benchmark used by
the Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS) is the 30 day readmission rate. Rates at the 80th
percentile or lower are considered optimal by CMS ¦A hospital s readmission rate is calculated by
dividing the total number of patients readmitted within seven days of discharge by the total number of
hospital discharges. (Readmission rates, 2013, Mayo Clinic). Keeping readmission rates low is
essential for the hospital to demonstrate a commitment to providing quality care at low cost and a high
readmission rate also can result in reduced Medicare reimbursements as well as reflect negatively
upon the hospital s PR when such reports are released (Can hospital

Viruses Are Not Multiply In Food
Collins (1997) stated that Viruses are not true living cells and are much smaller than bacteria. Viruses
are composed of a protein coating around genetic material (DNA or RNA) and are unable to reproduce
unless they are inside a living cell. Viruses do not multiply in food. They do multiply in cells in
various organs or tissues of the body. For example, Hepatitis A virus replicates in cells of the liver. It is
quite difficult to isolate viruses on or in food. Normally, the best treatment for viral infections is
allowing time (bed rest) for each individual s functioning immune system to combat the virus Viruses
are much smaller in size. The viruses differ from bacteria are they cannot live outside without living
host human or animals. The two important viruses are Hepatitis A virus and nor viruses

The Three Cities Within Toronto By David Hulchanski
Introduction
Throughout David Hulchanski s article, titled The Three Cities Within Toronto, he divides Toronto
into three cities by classifying neighbourhoods according to individual income. He describes the city
as dynamic, as neighbourhoods have changed through the years between the different classes. A major
factor that causes this change is gentrification, where low income neighbourhoods are renovated,
which results in replacing the low income residents with wealthier individuals. In contrast, the
population of low income neighbourhoods has also increased as the population of middle income
neighbourhoods have decreased. As a result of these changes, Toronto is increasing the number of
high income neighbourhoods and low income neighbourhoods, phasing out the middle class.
Hulchanski accurately describes polarization through the process of gentrification and by creating
more cost friendly neighbourhoods for families throughout Toronto.
Neighbourhood Scale The field work site is located on Weston Rd., by Highway 401, in between
Wilson Ave. and Sheppard Ave. W. This site contains many houses, local places of worship, and
convenience stores. Most of the homes are owned by families rather than individuals because of the

the bus stops in general. As a result, this neighbourhood has undergone gentrification and attracted
individuals of higher income. Much of the land across from Downsview Park (shown in green) is
commercial or industrial, which does not provide an incentive for gentrification. Therefore, there is a
divide in the cities in this area due to the location of the subway

Student Academic And Social Success And Encourage Lifelong...
Introduction To maximize student academic and social success and to encourage lifelong learning and
citizenship. is the mission statement for Van Buren Elementary School. In order to maximize student
achievement teacher leaders and administration must work in unison to identify goals for
improvement. By analyzing data teacher leaders, administrators, and teachers can work together to
derive a goal in the area of literacy instruction pertinent to our school. According to Taylor and
Francis, By design or default, teachers also are leaders of change, whether they promote it, support it,
resist it, or ignore it. (Taylor Francis, 2014, 102 103) Henceforth, teacher leadership will be essential
to achieve our literacy instruction goals.

reading for grades K 3. Students that scored substantially deficient in reading were then required to be
progress monitored weekly, provided intensive reading instruction, which includes 90 minutes a day
of scientific, research based reading instruction, notification of parents, and finally, grade level
retention if the student is not proficient by the end of third grade. The students in grades K 3 are
universally screened three times per year.
Iowa schools are also required to provide an intensive summer reading program for any student who is
substantially deficient in reading by May 1, 2017. Additionally,

How to Teach a Dyslexic Child
Dyslexia is now a widely accepted condition that is prevalent in many classrooms. However, defining
dyslexia is difficult as it can be described as a continuum. Although experts largely agree that dyslexia
is identifiable as a developmental difficulty of language learning and cognition (Rose, 2009). Dyslexia
can pose a host of difficulties for the child and can make daily activities and school life very
challenging. The NCLD (2013) states children with dyslexia may have difficulties with accurate and
fluent spelling, accurate and fluent written expression, phonological awareness, memory, verbal
processing speed and information processing. As teachers it is vital that we are aware of the
underlying difficulties as the child s consistent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the teacher should ensure the child is focused before giving instructions and the tasks
should be broken down into small easily remembered pieces of information (Hodge, 2000). The child
should be seated where communication can be made easier and information should be repeated if
needed. Visual cues may need to be provided along with the verbal to aid the child in processing the
verbal information. The child with dyslexia can have difficulty with perseverance to task so providing
them with diagrams and flow charts depicting the task structure and posters reminding the child of
steps to follow to complete the task can help. The teacher should ensure activities are not information
overload for the child making the task impossible (DENI, 2011; Gathercole and Alloway, 2008). Also
ensure that tasks are not lengthy sequences but meaningful chunks (DENI, 2011, p.100). Distractions
should be reduced whilst the child is working for if a child is distracted or interrupted while using
working memory the process is lost and the child cannot resume from where they were interrupted
(Gathercole and Alloway, 2008).The plenary should also be used to summarise main teaching points
so that the learning is more likely to go from short term to long term memory.
Within the Primary School setting the teaching of phonics is a significant part of the curriculum
(PMBNI, 2009).

Baseball And Softball Are Similar
Baseball and softball are similar, but very different in many ways. Most people think baseball and
softball are basically the exact same sports, the only difference being girls play softball, and boys play
baseball. The fact is, there are many differences as well as similarities in the two sports. Both of the
sports use a round ball, the object is to hit the ball, run around the bases, and score at home plate. In
the game of softball the baselines are only sixty feet long. Therefore, you must run super fast in order
to be safe at first base. However, baseball baselines are ninety feet long, so the infielders have more
time to get the runner out, and the runners have a longer distance to run. Softball pitchers have an
advantage because the pitching mound is so close. An elite softball pitcher can throw speeds topping
seventy miles per hour. This means a softball pitch can reach the plate in only thirty five hundredths of
a second! That is actually faster than it takes a 100 miles per hour major league fastball to reach home
plate. The baseball takes thirty eight hundredths of a second. After locating the pitch, a softball batter
only has about twenty five milliseconds to decide to swing or not. That is about fifty five percent less
time than a major league baseball player has. The game of softball can be very challenging for a batter.
However, it can be even more challenging for an infielder. When balls come off of the bat at about one
hundred miles per hour, a softball

Enkindu Vs Gilgamesh
The renowned work, The Epic of Gilgamesh is the one the earliest pieces of literature recorded.
Originating from ancient Mesopotamia, The Epic of Gilgamesh has captivated audiences due to its
riveting tale of King Gilgamesh. During his journey for immortality and glory, Gilgamesh encounters
Enkidu, the half man half beast. The gods create Enkindu as an imitation of Gilgamesh, with the
purpose of countering Gilgamesh. Both dynamic characters Enkindu and Gilgamesh share similar
characteristics; however, they also have their differences. In the beginning of The Epic of Gilgamesh,
King Gilgamesh is characterized as being uncannily perfect and being the offspring of the goddess,
Ninsun (38). It is written that, two thirds of him was divine, and one third of him was human (39).

I will speak out boldly (42). Enknidu s desire to save the people from Gilgamesh displays his
characteristics of honor and humility. This differs from Gilgamesh s narcissism and recklessness. After
Gilgamesh and Enkindu wrestle in their first encounter, they befriend each other. Both Enkindu and
Gilgamesh ability to form a friendship between each other, displays both characters having respect
and sensitivity. It seems Enkindu s companionship is humbling Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh requests
Enkindu join him on a quest to defeat the evil creature Humbaba. Gilgamesh s mission to destroy
Humbabba displays his boastfulness and courage. Weary at first, Enkindu says to Gilgamesh, The
haunt of Humbaba is a hopeless quest (48). Eventually Enkindu dreams and tells Gilgamesh, We will
catch Humbaba and kill him / Then we will throw down his corpse on the field of battle (54). Enkindu
s decision to join Gilgamesh displays his support and loyalty to Gilgamesh. Also it shows that both
Enkindu and Gilgamesh share immense

Manipulation is the crux of fiction; the Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio are no different. The
manipulation in Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio, specifically in the stories of Rouge and Snake

othered by society manipulate the virtuous and elite, thus setting up a societal struggle defined by
manipulation. The marginalized and elite form classes of people, thus making this societal struggle
synonymous with a class struggle. Furthermore, through literary devices, including sentence syntax

When initially describing Big Mao, Pu says that Big Mao is disreputable character who had already
made several fruitless attempts to seduce Madame Wang, and a an unscrupulous rogue, the worst kind
of street thug, both of which directly assert that Big Mao is flawed character (411, 418). In addition to
the direct descriptor that proves he is disreputable, the author uses an alliteration and lengthens the
sentence to emphasize Big Mao s flaws. First, when initially describing him, the author says there
lived in the district a disreputable character, which alliterates d to emphasize Big Mao s reputation
(411). Also, in the same sentence, Pu Songling introduces Big Mao by first describing where Big Mao
lived and his nature and then awkwardly adding that he goes by the name of Big Mao. (411) This
strange sentence syntax stresses the importance of Big Mao s nature which when coupled with the
alliteration prove that Big Mao, the other man who manipulates Rouge, is not virtuous; because Big
Mao lacks virtue, he is flawed character, and thus he differs from the societal norms and, when
compared to Rouge, a member of the lower class. Since, Rouge symbolizes the upper class and
conflicts with Big Mao and Su, who represent the lower class, Rouge also presents a class

The Impact Tolerances Of Decision Making
Abstract
This paper is designed to help you understand and examines the impact tolerances of decision making.
It also provides an explanation for and insight into the observed differences in executive responses to
cyber threats and risk assessments. It models the relationship between security resources and risk
mitigation, and it defines the premiums that organizations expect to receive or pay for bearing or
avoiding information security risk (Anderson, 2010). In addition, this paper also discusses various
defense mechanisms and strategies that could be enabled on routers in order to mitigate these cyber
attacks.

describe, model, and talk about Denial of Service (DoS) attacks and specifically as the DoS attack that
occurred at The iPremier Company on January 12, 2007. Especially nowadays, there are so many
various online security threats that are occurring and that have occurred. DoS attacks have the most
damaging and devastating effects. This puts an extreme amount of pressure on security experts to have
strong and effective techniques put in place to defend against these attacks. These particular cyber
attacks can be implemented quite diversely with a variety of tools, codes, and proper procedures.

The Exposure of Feminist Critique in 19th Century...
Resistance is the action of fighting back against an unwanted force that may be deemed oppressive in
ones life. It is created for different causes and comes in many forms; it may be made verbal, explicit,
implicit, physical, and even made humorous or satirical. Charlotte Brontë, a 19th century Victorian
feminist wrote her novel Jane Eyre as a means of exposing the confining environments, shameful lack
of education, and pitiful dependence upon male relatives for survival (Brackett, 2000). Charlotte
Brontë used literature as a means of feminist cultural resistance by identifying the underlying factors
of how the Victorian ideologies, gender and social construction of that time was limiting, and brings to
light barriers that faced women in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jane is taught at a young age to look down on people not of her caste, and to oppress them the same
way that she herself is oppressed as a female orphan. Though Jane is not influenced directly by social
status at all times, it is still a constant factor which Brontë makes evident. In Victorian England, a
female must either be born or married into her social class, and this is what defines her. The character
of Jane served to undercut the popular female stereotypes of fiction: the angel of the house, the
invalid, or the whore (Brackett, 2000). Brontë creates Jane as her own force, in which she is neither
the angel, invalid or whore, but a young lady who is intelligent and has pride and dignity. In this
Victorian society, her unsubmissiveness and independence is her social fault, which Brontë pokes fun
at (Brackett, 2000). Male Victorian writers cast women during this time as social, finagling creatures
whose goals are to obtain as many friends as possible and throw the most elaborate parties. Brontë
opposes this by creating Jane as an opposite of these defining characteristics, by making Jane a female
who could are less about how many people adore her, a female who would actually enjoy a life with
few companions. As mentioned before, Jane s sense of dignity is evident. As Jane became Rochester s
governess, she is faced with the

Indian Food
Today, India is the second most populous country in the world. The culture of India is also among the
oldest to survive, reaching back to nearly 5,000 years. India received their inde pendence from Britain
on August 15th, 1947, thus allowing them to become the most populous democracy in the world.
There are many aspects as to what makes India unique, one principle in particular is their food. Indian
cooking is vivid, exquisite, and simply delicious. It depends on a wide variety of spices, herbs, and
grains for its specific taste. The different types of food which India carry include basic spices,

They are usually seasoned with spices and served over rice or with roti. Some factors as to what
makes them nutritious, are that they are filled with protein, vitamins and minerals. As stated, Indians
make hundreds of different types of juicy dishes, which are eaten with rice or Roti. Depending on the
type of spices, the sauces can be fiery or mild. Kormas, in particu lar, are rich and mild. Another
Indian flat bread, naan, is made by pressing dough onto the hot oven s walls (Sheen 24). Without raitas
and chutneys, a meal cannot be complete. Indian cooks tend to mix together yogurt, raw vegetables or

the most popular types of raitas. Chutneys also come in a tremendous range of flavors. These

The Gross Profit Margin Ratio
The Gross profit margin ratio is a measure of profitability concerned with the effectiveness of
generating profit. It represent the relation between the gross profit and the sales revenue generate in
the same period (McLaney and Atrill, 2012). The higher of this ratio is better for the company. The
Dixons´ gross profit margin is virtually the same in both years, 2013 is 7,32% and 2014 is 7,47%.
However, it is too low to compare with the industry average ratio (15%). It should be as a
consequence of the high cost of sales. Reducing the cost of the goods sold is an immediately measure
that the company must implemented. Additionally, increasing the price of the product should be
another alternative. These changes will reflect positively in the profit of the year leading to a higher
gross profit margin.
The current ratio is a measure of liquidity, which is concerned with the ability of the company to meet
its short term financial obligations. It relates the current assets and the current liabilities of a business
the higher the ratio means that the business have more liquidity and quickly response to financial
obligations, however is not recommended to be too high (McLaney and Atrill, 2012). The Dixons´
current ratios in both year are significantly lower than the industry average which is 2.05 times, in

Psychedelics In The 1960 s
Psychedelics have become so common in America that 8% of high school seniors report having used
LSD [Nation 1]. LSD is also known as acid, is a chemical compound lysergic acid diethylamide. The
effects range from an altered state of reality to strong visual hallucinations. LSD first became popular
in the 1960 s, seemingly overnight. Because it was such a new drug, it remained legal until 1966
[Riser]. Many thought of acid as a spiritual aid, and used it to meditate. It was often compared to the
drugs peyote and mescaline that were used in Native American religious ceremonies [Riser]. During
this time period there were social reforms taking place all over the country. As the baby boomer
generation entered their teen years, the seeds of rebellion were planted into their brains. Rejecting the
social normalities portrayed by parents became a common scenario. These obstreperous youth could

Prison Management Styles
Management Styles
Raechellee Noland

Abstract
Organizations and businesses alike all have managers and management styles that they abide by. Some
may be company policy; while others seem to be implemented by the manager s themselves. In this
paper, three different management styles are explained; Scientific, human relations, and systems
management styles. All have been used in different organizations, and some are still used today. In
order for a business to effectively succeed in their goals, a certain management style needs to be used.
Management Styles The key to making any kind of business work depends on management and how

In the end, one department would be great, while all the others were different and didn t sync well
with the others.
Most Effective and Disadvantages In order for today s criminal justice system to work correctly, the
best management theory would be the systems theory. The criminal justice system needs to have a
structured and organized system in order to make things work, the systems management theory
focuses on the overall goals of the departments as a whole, rather than focusing just on one goal for
each department. Criminal justice is a system; there are several different parts that need to work
together in order for it to work. This would include all components, such as the courts, police, and
corrections. They all need to be on the same page in order to keep the balance between the three and
avoid chaos. A disadvantage of scientific management in criminal justice was that the style focused
more on the production and the needs of the organizations over caring for the needs and wants of the
employees. The disadvantages of the human relations theory, was that is focused too much on the
employees. With too much focus on the employees, the goals of the organization became secondary.
Employees were being rewarded, and soon, employees expected more for less work. (Peak, 2012).
Conclusion

German History Essay
Most would agree that it is valuable to acknowledge history, whether it be through documentation,
education, or architectural preservation. However, history can be complex and ugly, stained by war,
genocide, and destruction. Therein lies a philosophical controversy: should these historical stains be
acknowledged or buried? What role do these ugly histories have in the development of a society?
Within the last century, no nation has been forced to confront these questions on the same scale that
Germany has (Levinger 118). With a twentieth century history marked by hatred and the abuse of
power, National Socialism and Soviet communism, Germany s dark history lies only decades in the
past. For this reason, these histories remain freshly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In essence, historic preservation roots collective memory in a physical, tangible space. To many
scholars, memory in this context is not simply information that is recalled and retold (qtd. in Till 11).
Instead, it is the act of continuously finding and contextualizing history by means of physical space.
Preservation of historical architecture is therefore unique, as it juxtaposes this history and memory
with the surrounding modern world. This highlights the importance of preserving history through
architecture, rather than museums, textbooks, and archives alone. By preserving the physical remnants
of a city s dark history, residents and passersby are forced to confront this history nondeliberately.
Moreover, according to Rudy J. Koshar, a preserved site must maintain some present value or purpose.
This is particularly relevant when considering the preservation of buildings or sites which represent a
history that is controversial or shameful, as it is important to balance the shame evoked by this space
with the benefits of its preservation.
The task of historic preservation is especially challenging in nations such as Germany which have
pasts that many are reluctant to remember. Germany is a particularly interesting case, as it is now
recognized as one of the most progressive, economically powerful, and politically liberal countries in
the world. Yet, no comparably modern country is

Andy Clark s Natural-Born Cyborgs Essay
Andy Clark, in Natural Born Cyborgs, offers an extended argument that technology s impact on and
intertwining with ordinary biological human life is not to be feared, either psychologically or morally.
Clark offers several key concepts towards his line of reasoning. Clark argues that a human being
thinks and reasons based on the biological brain and body dynamically linked with the culture and
technological tools transparently accessible to the human. This form of thinking and reasoning
develops new quot;thinking systems quot; that which over time become second nature thoughts and
reasons and are the basis of even newer quot;thinking systems. quot; It is a repetitive cycle that
continues forever being built upon previous systems. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The example he uses is of a boy trapped in isolation at a computer or video game. Clark asserts that
isolation is a matter of perspective, and that as it appears the boy is alone, he is actually spending
quality time in his chosen community that is brought together only through the power of technology.
He contends that this may expand our embodied awareness, In a strange way, we may even come to
better appreciate the value and significance of our normal bodily presence by exploring such
alternatives. Not disembodiment, then, so much as a deeper understanding of why the body matters
and of the space of possible bodies and perspectives. Not isolation so much as a wider and less
geocentric kind of community. (Clark, 194) The argument strategy that Clark employs is similar to a
critiquing strategy where he clearly defines his opponent s concern(s), usually by the use of a real
world example. After he has made the reader well aware of his opponent s concern(s), he generally
uses the same example to tactfully pitch his proposal as a solution to eliminate or neutralize the
concern. The proposal is based on one of two sources, his personal beliefs or observations and theories
based on his research and comprehensive knowledge of humans, technology, and society. In some
instances, he will offer multiple proposals to strengthen his defense and allow the reader to understand
there a several possibilities. It appears from the heavy citation of Daniel Dennett s works

Police Labor Organization Research Paper
Explain what constitutes a police labor organization, and how it differs from a police labor union. Is
the Fraternal Order of Police a police union ? Why or why not.
When looking and comparing the definition of both the police labor organization, and the police labor
union, one can make several generalizations.
In defining the term labor organization it means any organization of any kind, or any agency or
employee representation committee or plan, in which employees participate and which exists for the
purpose, in whole or in part, of dealing with employers concerning grievances, labor disputes, wages,
rates of pay, hours of employment, or conditions of work ( labor organization, n.d., para. 5).
An example of a labor organization for law enforcement is The International Union of Police

Essay on Examining the Group Dynamics of a Team
Forming
In the forming stage, group members at ECI are polite and enthusiastic to be involved with a potential
new business opportunity. The forming stage is relatively short, mainly due to the fact that most
personnel on the team have known each other for many years.
Storming
Storming is one of the more difficult stages of group development and can often lead to team tension
and potential failure. Stein (2014) adds that behaviors during the Storming stage may be less polite
than during the Forming stage, with frustration or disagreements about goals, expectations, roles and

Adjourning
Once the team has come to an agreement for the potential new business opportunity for the
organization, the team is no longer needed. The final step of the adjourning process was to present the
business opportunity to key players in upper management for approval.
Roles and the Role Dynamics of the Team
Role Ambiguity In a recent study by Wood (2010), role ambiguity is the term used when there is a
lack of clarity on the part of an individual about the expectations of the organization and colleagues
concerning his or her role within the organization. The team members at ECI used open
communication during the storming stage to avoid any potential issues. Roles and responsibilities
were discussed and agreed upon in the initial stages which helped in the team success. Role Overload
Role overload is defined by Psychologydictionary.org (2014) as a scenario wherein a person is
expected to accomplish more than the person is able to do in a particular time frame (quantitative
overload) or wherein a person is taxed beyond their understanding, competencies, or talents
(qualitative overload). The group team at ECI attempted to avoid role overload by setting realistic
expectations for each team member. Open communication was encouraged in the event a team
member felt overwhelmed and needed assistance with their

India s Indian Rural Market
Introduction
There is growing realization among marketers about the enormous untapped potential of India s rural
markets. The Indian rural market with its vast size and demand base offers great opportunities to
companies. In India, there are 6,42000 villages . While agriculture used to be the major source of
income in rural areas, over the past 10 12 years, the dominance of agriculture has been rapidly
declining. The contribution of agriculture to India s GDP was less than 20% in 2008 09. There is a
sizeable population of self employed persons in the hinterland and quite a few of them are into
services such as repair and maintenance of motors and pump sets, televisions and other electrical
appliances, farm equipment, tractors and two wheelers. Some are also engaged in other services like
hospitality, transport, entertainment etc.
The Indian Rural Market
 The Indian rural market is much larger when compared to the urban market in terms of population
and number of households, and also by way of geographic dispersal. The rural market is the new
driving force of the Indian Consumption Story . With only 31.16% of the Indian population living in
urban areas and 68.84% residing in the villages (Census 2011), it is only a matter of time before rural
India takes its rightful place in the Indian growth story. Faced with a threat of declining growth rates
in future urban markets, businesses have started focusing on the huge and relatively untapped rural
Indian market. The major

The Theory Of The Broken Windows Theory Essay
In 1969 Philip Zimbardo conducted an experiment. He placed two identical cars in two contrasting
neighbourhoods: one prim and proper, and the other run down and disordered. Within two days the car
in the run down neighbourhood was ruined. The other car wasn t ruined until Zimbardo took a
hammer to the window and shattered it. It didn t take long for others to step in and completely ruin the
car (Engel et al., 2014).
Zimbardo s experiment is the basis and inspiration of the broken windows theory (Engel et al., 2014).
The theory posits that disorder leads to crime, or as Keizer, Lindenberg, and Steg (2008) put it, Signs
of inappropriate behavior like graffiti or broken windows lead to other inappropriate behavior . The
theory presents a snowball effect form disorder to crime. There has been much debate over the validity
of the theory, but the research shows that disorder broken windows does lead to crime.
Developing Broken Windows Theory
History
James Wilson and George Kelling first developed the theory in 1982. They claimed that public
disorder matters which are visible and public and pose concerns to the public at large (Ranasinghe,
2011) leads to serious crime. Countless research has been done since the theory s first inception, but
perhaps the most notable test and application of the theory was in the New York subway system from
1990 to 1993, during which the crime rate decreased by 35 percent in the subway, and 18 percent in
the city overall (Morris, 2016). There

The Threat Of Network Security
There are threats to network security that can compromise your computer systems. Viruses are one of
the top security threats in the technology industry. A virus is a program or a code that is loaded into
your computer system without your knowledge will run against your wishes (Beal, n.d). Viruses can
also replicate themselves. All computer viruses are manmade and a virus can make a copy of itself
several times and easy to create (Beal, n.d). Mark Vernon wrote that 72% of all companies have

network security is malware. Malware (malicious software) is a annoying or harmful type of software
that is intended to secretly access a device without a user s knowledge. There are different types of
malware, which include spyware, phishing, viruses, adware, Trojan horses, worms, ransomware,
rootkits, and browser hijackers ( What is Malware and how to remove it | Cyber security, n.d.).
Malware gets access to your device through the internet, email, hacked websites, toolbars, music files,

Mexican Immigrants And Their Mexican American Children...
Martina Rodriguez
27 September 2017
ENG 101
Professor Arancibia
In English 101 from a Latinx Perspective, the course has focused on the experiences of Mexican
immigrants and their Mexican American children within the novel Pocho by Jose Antonio Villareal.
This short novel focuses on the Rubio family. Though the text begins with Juan Rubio as the
protagonist, early on, there is a shift and the only son, Richard Rubio becomes the protagonist. The
setting of the novel is the early 20th century. The events at the beginning of the novel take place in
Mexico just after the end of the Mexican Revolution. The novel then shifts to Santa Clara, California
where the Rubio family has settled to begin their lives in the United States. Though Juan ... Show

In this quote, we see Richard breaking ties with his ethnic origins in Mexico. Instead, he takes on an
American identity. He no longer sees himself as a Mexican, but instead sees himself as a Mexican
American. This is a textbook definition of assimilation, where one lets go of an identity rooted in a
family history and instead creates a new identity based on the context he lives in.
Another instance in which assimilation is present is when the Rubio family begins to adopt more and
more of American values, particularly Richard s mother, in chapter 8. He describes the process as if
their family was taking on the mores of the middles class and it saddened him to see the Mexican
tradition begin to disappear (132). Not only does Richard s mother start to gossip with neighbors, she
stops taking care of the house and begins to question her husband, taking it as a symbol of freedom
from the gender expectations back in Mexico. Villarreal writes,
Although he loved his mother, Richard realized that a family could not survive when the woman
desired to command, and he knew that his mother was like a starving child who had become
gluttonous when confronted with food. She had lived so long in the tradition of her country that she
could not help herself now, and abused the privilege of equality afforded the women of her new
country. (134)

The Importance Of Commercial Space Exploration
Since the mid twentieth century, people have had a desire to explore different aspects of space. The
space race between the United States of America and Russia was the height of space exploration. Now
with modern interest in the colonization of Mars, the desire to explore space has, again, increased with
20 licensed launches in America in the 2017 calendar year according to the Federal Aviation
Administration ( Commercial Space Data ). Different countries still express interest in exploring
space, but commercial space exploration has become popular since the 2000 s. American
organizations have to adhere to regulations of the FAA, the government organization that provides
licenses and permits to enter into space. Many current pieces of legislation, which have solved
multiple previous issues, can still be further developed to improve commercial space exploration in
the future as Mars colonization becomes a more tangible goal. Robert Walker, a former member of the
United States House of Representatives, declared that many of the current space laws make it easier
for government to function in space (q.t.d Space Law ), but not companies that could revolutionize
commercial space travel. Current American laws on regulations, protection for companies, and what
people can do in space need to be altered in order for commercial space companies to reach Mars. To
engage in space exploration, commercial companies must receive a license from the FAA, which is
both an inconsistent

Option 1: Health Care Segment
When people think of health care, they often think up images from their own experiences in doctors
offices, clinics, and hospitals. Then there are the images of intense drama and hustling and bustling in
hospitals and emergency rooms such as those presented on television and in the movies. These are all
part of the health care arena, but it extends far beyond the emergency room. Health care agencies and
governmental agencies mission is to improve the quality, safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of ...

In different city and states they offer emergency assistance for bills and also advocating and case
management services. The programs are created to both improve the immediate person and family
needs. To name a few of the services provided by the program includes emergency rental assistance
with Security Deposit emergency, utility bill assistance which includes gas, water, and electric and
emergency food aid. The regulatory authority role that the Department of Health and Human Services
have on health care is that federal regulation is one of the basic tools government uses to carry out
public policy. The Department of Health and Human Services has made a powerful breakthrough in its
contemplative review activities since President Obama s January 2011 Executive Order 13563 on
Improving Regulation and Regulatory Review (Winter 2013). The Department of Health and Human
Services currently are the seven national accreditation organizations that offer accreditation programs
that are recognized for purposes of certifying the compliance of almost 7,000 hospitals, critical access
hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, home health agencies, and hospices with Medicare health and
safety standards (Lanham, 2013). These accredited health care facilities as having satisfied the health

A Summary On Parkinson s Disease
Introduction
In 1817, James Parkinson first described a disease, later to be known as Parkinson s Disease (PD) as a;
neurodegenerative disorder affecting the physical, psychological, social, and functional status of
individuals (Parkinson Society Canada Staff, 1965). In the time since the disease was first described,
the frequency of individuals affected with the disease has increased, with no single cause yet to be
identified as the culprit for the onset of the disease. According to the Parkinson s society Society of
Canada, approximately one hundred thousand Canadians live with this debilitating disease (Parkinson
Society Canada Staff, 1965). Not only has no successful cure for Parkinson s been developed, there
has yet to be any diagnostic tools developed that prove any suredefinite diagnosis (Parkinson Society
Canada Staff, 1965). To this point, Parkinson s is a disease that continues to impact a higher
percentage of the population each year, with no true hope being given to those that struggle with the
impairment. The purpose of this paper is to provide a summary of our knowledge on PD to date,
describing the physiology behind the deficits that PD is responsible for, the known causes and risk
factors, the signs and symptoms, and finally any known treatments that help to reduce the impairments
of PD.
Physiology
The origin of the impairments of PD disease start in the basal ganglia, the basal ganglia in laymen
terms would be defined as the basic cluster of nuclei, located

ABSTRACT
Software companies want the best products to sell in order to stay in business and remain productive.
This organization is on the rise to find the most reliable and best personal computer for excelling
students by comparing and contrasting the prices, performances and models from three different
brands sold by the most popular vendors. Our company selected the Apple 13.3 MacBook Pro
Notebook, the HP Envy 15.6 Laptop, and the Dell Ultra book 15.6 Touch Screen Laptop. After careful
reviews and investigations, the organization decided that the HP Envy Laptop was best for their
excelling students organization.
With today s era, companies strive to find the best devices to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The operating systems are somewhat similar although the MacBook system is running on only
Microsoft. They all have wide screen with high tech looks. They are all slim with high performance
microprocessors. These are all three so similar, vendors make it impossible to choose from. Each of
these computer models has a distinct price range. For example, the Dell Ultra Book touchscreen starts
at a cost of $829.99. This is a bit expensive for the average user, but reflects the quality of purchase.
The HP Envy Laptop starts at $649.99, which is a little cheaper than the Dell series model. The Apple
MacBook Pro Notebook runs around $1129.99. As you can see the Apple laptops are much more
expensive than the Dell and HPE series models. These prices range between brands and style because
the screens can be larger or smaller.
When shopping for a computer, one can look at the cost and compare it to other models. For instance,
individuals usually have less to spend than organizations. The HP Envy model is adequate for
companies looking for greater processing power (Intel Turbo Boost) ( HP Pavilion HPE, 2011). The
Dell Studio model is a little expensive; however, this model is adequate for small business and
organizations. Similarly, the HP Companies looking for attractiveness will find the MacBook s unique
design quite appealing. Overall, these three models range in price from $649.99 to $1300.00, they are
high end products known for quality and

CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1 INTRODUCTION
According the 2010, Sustainability Report by the President and Chief Operating Officer of
Bombardier transportation (André Navarri) [2], around the globe, everyone is faced with significant
challenges including global warming, resource scarcity, and high energy costs. Cities continue to
exhibit explosive growth, leading to the pressing need for more effective transportation systems.

Customized products describe manufacturing in the Twenty first century. This has led to the complex
production planning and control systems making mass production of goods interesting. Many
organizations, particularly railway and automotive organizations, struggled in the new customer
driven and globally competitive markets. These factors present a big challenge to organizations to
look for new tools and methods to continue moving up the ladder in the changed market situation [5].
This creates more problems for new companies that are eager to break into the markets.
Supply chain is one of the critical aspects that can make or break any company. The research will also
concentrate on aspects of supply chain.
1.1 LEAN AND ITS PURPOSE
Lean is an idea or process of creating value for customers by reducing waist. The increase of
production output with less labour. The purpose is to be able to fulfil customers needs with less cost.
The five Lean principles are:

This addresses the common way manufactures work by giving the customer what is convenient for the
manufacture. The Twenty first century demands and requirements from customers are complex

Christianity In The Early Middle Ages Essay
Christianity in Europe during the Medieval Period encountered many hindrances such as corruption,
sex, the Avignon Captivity, and the Great Schism. However, even though the church encountered
many controversies which eventually undermined the foundation of the church, monastic revival
reformed the church and ultimately restored the original beliefs.
Corruption was present in many forms within the church during the medieval period. Many clergy
members were landowners in late medieval Christianity and if they were not, the church would count
on the nobles to share their profits from their peasants work. (Christian History, 2015) It was also
familiar for members of clergy to buy their positions in order to obtain power and wealth. Priests were
also known for visiting taverns, gambling, and having orgies with quarrels and blasphemy. (Arnold,
1999)
From the Early Middle Ages, through the reign of Charlemagne, the church accentuated the
importance of clerical celibacy, however by Carolingian times, it became apparent that clerical
celibacy would be impossible to enforce. The church disclosed that not all ... Show more content on

Analyzing The Validity Of The Holy Bible
I would like to welcome you to the readable journey that can change a life forever. This is a journey
through the Holy Bible, of course with some negative and positive sides along the way. In a quest for
accuracy, validity, and truth; the Holy Bible is the most sought after book for answers and attack, yet it
continues to stand firm through it all. The Holy Bible is the world s best selling book and will
continue to be for decades to come and there is reasoning behind this awesome fact. Validity is
searched for after skeptics read the Bible, they ask questions upon questions wanting so badly to
disprove the accuracy of the Bible. Our omniscient God knew that His Words would be challenged
and not believed to be true by doubters continuously, so God left life changing hints proving his word
true, whether they have been discovered or undiscovered yet. God laid it down plain and simple that
the Bible is true His divine words written by His anointed authors.

Branched Chain Amino Acids Analysis
The Efficiency of Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs)
Nowadays, it seems like every new supplement is the greatest at building muscle, improving
performance or burning fat. With so many claims from name brand supplement companies, it can be
hard for individuals to weed out the good from the bad. In order to understand if a supplement is right
for you, you need to remember what the point of supplementation is.
Why do we need supplements?
The point of supplementation is to obtain a nutrient that your body is not receiving or not receiving
sufficient amounts through diet alone. In this article, we ll discuss whether BCAA s are something you
need to incorporate into your diet, or if you re just pissing away your money. Literally.
What are Branched Chain Amino Acids?
First off, let s review what Branched Chain Amino Acids are (BCAA s for short). BCAA s are a
combination of three specific amino acids that our bodies cannot produce. These amino acids; leucine,
isoleucine, and valine are found abundantly in animal products ... Show more content on

But as far us gym rats, we probably won t see any benefit. In terms of reducing muscle soreness,
BCAAs have been proven beneficial. But remember, these studies used just BCAA supplementation
alone. Most Whey protein shakes will contain these same levels of BCAAs, so additionally BCAA
supplementation may not be necessary. Lastly, those who have dietary restrictions from animal based
products could see the biggest impact from BCAA supplementation, as BCAAs are found scarce in the
plant based protein category.
At the end of the day, whenever you re looking into trying out a new supplement, do your homework.
Research peer reviewed articles and studies about the supplement, and compare the results with your
own training goals. Supplements like BCAAs can help, but the greatest supplement of all is the blood,
sweat and tears you put into your training

  • 3. The Legend Of Zelda s Mask What is the most mysterious video game you have ever played? The Legend of Zelda: Majora s Mask is by far the darkest entry in the series (Beast). Majora s Mask, the mysterious pastime that gave its creators nightmares, is not only one of the best participants in the Legend of Zelda series, but also one of the top games of all time. Even though it had a slow start, because Nintendo s rival released the PlayStation 2, a few days after Majora s Mask was released, in spite of this, it still claimed its spot as one of the greatest technological amusements of all time (Luckerson). In the interim, with three days of life left for everyone, Link swiftly solved everyone s problems and re ascended the moon back to space. This three day period is not only an excellent addition to the story, but it is also a great challenge for players. Time steadily passes in the game while you play, with the daylight giving way to the night... (Stratton 14). Each day is 18 minutes long, allowing for a whopping 54 minutes of game time (Mirabella). Accordingly, this added pressure can easily stump beginning players, but for masters of Majora s Mask, time seems to stand still. The developers did not leave players without a remedy for this time limit though; they provided players with the Ocarina of Time. Given to Link by Princess Zelda, this magical instrument calls forth legendary powers to aid Link in his quest (Stratton 21). The most useful way that Link can use the Ocarina of Time is to slow time down, which doubles those precious 54 minutes into 108 stress free minutes. In addition to this, Link can use his Ocarina is to travel back to the dawn of the first day of the story. This allows him another three days to try to save the world again. • 4. The Importance Of Revenge In William Shakespeare s Hamlet Who ever thought acting out revenge would be so difficult. In the story, Hamlet, we have a young man who is seeking revenge for the death of his father. The person responsible his death was Hamlet s uncle, Claudius. Hamlet contemplates killing Claudius many times throughout the play. There is much speculation as to why Hamlet hesitated, and why he didn t just kill Claudius as quickly as possible. Hamlet wants to ensure he did it right and that it was a righteous killing. Hamlet had every reason to be angry with Claudius, for he murdered his father. Hamlet, throughout almost the entire play, was completely dedicated to killing Claudius. But, Hamlet need proof to accomplish his task. Deep down, Hamlet is a good man. This does not mean that he was perfect, nor does it mean that he was incredibly righteous in every aspect. But, he was a good man because he always examined what it was he was doing, or what he was planning. This explains why Hamlet contemplated killing Claudius. Hamlet is unsure if he should kill his uncle; would he be a thought of a coward. Should he partake in the death of his uncle? He examined these things to ensure that he went about vengeance in the most righteous manner possible for him. It was not merely a murder for revenge, but a murder for the kingdom. It was not for Hamlet alone, but for the society that had been harmed by the existence and the actions of Claudius. The Beginnings Of Intellectual Property Rights Beginnings of Intellectual Property Rights Intellectual property rights will remain a part of international trade agreements in the future, but the global activity will likely be characterized by varying standards and improved enforcement, reflecting evolution in social, cultural and political attitudes, and a deeper understanding of the relationships among innovation, creation and the more efficient distribution of intellectual property. Increased cooperation might occur at the governance level. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Underlying this activity are changes to intellectual property rights laws and policies. The following are the major enforcement inadequacies in the protection of intellectual property rights: No preliminary or final injunctive relief, lack of seizure and impoundment relief, lack of exclusion of infringing imports, lack of compulsory court process and/or discovery, inadequate civil remedies, usually in monetary dam ages, limits on recoveries preclude deterrent effects, fine or other criminal penalties inadequate, unreasonably slow enforcement process during which illegal activity continues, enforcement officials systematically discriminate against foreigners, training and resources for enforcement inadequate, court decisions biased or political, and corruption. The efforts to protect intellectual property rights suffer from three major problems: institutional issues, philosophical issues, and handling of new technologies. The institutional issues refer to the shortcomings of existing regimes and their enforcement. To begin with, the signatories to specific agreements are limited. Quality Improvement Data Quality improvement data: Using QI instruments to address high readmission rates and medication errors Keeping track of quality improvement data is essential for all organizations: not simply for for profit entities, but also for not for profit organizations such as hospitals. Patient readmission rates and medication errors are serious issues at many healthcare organizations. Using quality improvement instruments such as a fishbone (Ishikawa) diagram: which can identify many possible causes for an effect or problem and sorts ideas into useful categories and a Pareto chart, which shows on a bar graph which factors are more significant can help pinpoint the root causes of chronic problems that seem to arise from a multitude of factors (Cause analysis tools, 2013, ASQ). The standard benchmark used by the Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS) is the 30 day readmission rate. Rates at the 80th percentile or lower are considered optimal by CMS ¦A hospital s readmission rate is calculated by dividing the total number of patients readmitted within seven days of discharge by the total number of hospital discharges. (Readmission rates, 2013, Mayo Clinic). • 9. The Three Cities Within Toronto By David Hulchanski Introduction Throughout David Hulchanski s article, titled The Three Cities Within Toronto, he divides Toronto into three cities by classifying neighbourhoods according to individual income. He describes the city as dynamic, as neighbourhoods have changed through the years between the different classes. A major factor that causes this change is gentrification, where low income neighbourhoods are renovated, which results in replacing the low income residents with wealthier individuals. In contrast, the population of low income neighbourhoods has also increased as the population of middle income neighbourhoods have decreased. As a result of these changes, Toronto is increasing the number of high income neighbourhoods and low income neighbourhoods, phasing out the middle class. Hulchanski accurately describes polarization through the process of gentrification and by creating more cost friendly neighbourhoods for families throughout Toronto. Neighbourhood Scale The field work site is located on Weston Rd., by Highway 401, in between Wilson Ave. and Sheppard Ave. W. • 13. Baseball And Softball Are Similar Baseball and softball are similar, but very different in many ways. Most people think baseball and softball are basically the exact same sports, the only difference being girls play softball, and boys play baseball. The fact is, there are many differences as well as similarities in the two sports. Both of the sports use a round ball, the object is to hit the ball, run around the bases, and score at home plate. In the game of softball the baselines are only sixty feet long. Therefore, you must run super fast in order to be safe at first base. However, baseball baselines are ninety feet long, so the infielders have more time to get the runner out, and the runners have a longer distance to run. Softball pitchers have an advantage because the pitching mound is so close. An elite softball pitcher can throw speeds topping seventy miles per hour. This means a softball pitch can reach the plate in only thirty five hundredths of a second! That is actually faster than it takes a 100 miles per hour major league fastball to reach home plate. The baseball takes thirty eight hundredths of a second. After locating the pitch, a softball batter only has about twenty five milliseconds to decide to swing or not. That is about fifty five percent less time than a major league baseball player has. The game of softball can be very challenging for a batter. However, it can be even more challenging for an infielder. When balls come off of the bat at about one hundred miles per hour, a softball ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is created for different causes and comes in many forms; it may be made verbal, explicit, implicit, physical, and even made humorous or satirical. Charlotte Brontë, a 19th century Victorian feminist wrote her novel Jane Eyre as a means of exposing the confining environments, shameful lack of education, and pitiful dependence upon male relatives for survival (Brackett, 2000). Though Jane is not influenced directly by social status at all times, it is still a constant factor which Brontë makes evident. In Victorian England, a female must either be born or married into her social class, and this is what defines her. The character of Jane served to undercut the popular female stereotypes of fiction: the angel of the house, the invalid, or the whore (Brackett, 2000). Brontë creates Jane as her own force, in which she is neither the angel, invalid or whore, but a young lady who is intelligent and has pride and dignity. In this Victorian society, her unsubmissiveness and independence is her social fault, which Brontë pokes fun at (Brackett, 2000). Male Victorian writers cast women during this time as social, finagling creatures whose goals are to obtain as many friends as possible and throw the most elaborate parties. Brontë opposes this by creating Jane as an opposite of these defining characteristics, by making Jane a female who could are less about how many people adore her, a female who would actually enjoy a life with few companions. Most Effective and Disadvantages In order for today s criminal justice system to work correctly, the best management theory would be the systems theory. The criminal justice system needs to have a structured and organized system in order to make things work, the systems management theory focuses on the overall goals of the departments as a whole, rather than focusing just on one goal for each department. Criminal justice is a system; there are several different parts that need to work together in order for it to work. This would include all components, such as the courts, police, and corrections. They all need to be on the same page in order to keep the balance between the three and avoid chaos. A disadvantage of scientific management in criminal justice was that the style focused more on the production and the needs of the organizations over caring for the needs and wants of the employees. The disadvantages of the human relations theory, was that is focused too much on the employees. With too much focus on the employees, the goals of the organization became secondary. However, history can be complex and ugly, stained by war, genocide, and destruction. Therein lies a philosophical controversy: should these historical stains be acknowledged or buried? What role do these ugly histories have in the development of a society? Within the last century, no nation has been forced to confront these questions on the same scale that Germany has (Levinger 118). To many scholars, memory in this context is not simply information that is recalled and retold (qtd. in Till 11). Instead, it is the act of continuously finding and contextualizing history by means of physical space. Preservation of historical architecture is therefore unique, as it juxtaposes this history and memory with the surrounding modern world. This highlights the importance of preserving history through architecture, rather than museums, textbooks, and archives alone. By preserving the physical remnants of a city s dark history, residents and passersby are forced to confront this history nondeliberately. Moreover, according to Rudy J. Koshar, a preserved site must maintain some present value or purpose. This is particularly relevant when considering the preservation of buildings or sites which represent a history that is controversial or shameful, as it is important to balance the shame evoked by this space with the benefits of its preservation. The task of historic preservation is especially challenging in nations such as Germany which have pasts that many are reluctant to remember. He contends that this may expand our embodied awareness, In a strange way, we may even come to better appreciate the value and significance of our normal bodily presence by exploring such alternatives. Not disembodiment, then, so much as a deeper understanding of why the body matters and of the space of possible bodies and perspectives. Not isolation so much as a wider and less geocentric kind of community. Mark Vernon wrote that 72% of all companies have received infected e mails or files last year and for larger companies the percentage was 83% (Vernon, 2004). The top viruses in malignancy are Worms and Trojan Horses (Vernon, 2004). Another threat to network security is malware. Malware (malicious software) is a annoying or harmful type of software that is intended to secretly access a device without a user s knowledge. There are different types of malware, which include spyware, phishing, viruses, adware, Trojan horses, worms, ransomware, rootkits, and browser hijackers ( What is Malware and how to remove it | Cyber security, n.d.). Malware gets access to your device through the internet, email, hacked websites, toolbars, music files, free subscriptions, toolbars and anything downloaded from the web ( What is Malware and how to remove it | Cyber security, n.d.). In this quote, we see Richard breaking ties with his ethnic origins in Mexico. Instead, he takes on an American identity. He no longer sees himself as a Mexican, but instead sees himself as a Mexican American. This is a textbook definition of assimilation, where one lets go of an identity rooted in a family history and instead creates a new identity based on the context he lives in. Another instance in which assimilation is present is when the Rubio family begins to adopt more and more of American values, particularly Richard s mother, in chapter 8. He describes the process as if their family was taking on the mores of the middles class and it saddened him to see the Mexican tradition begin to disappear (132). Not only does Richard s mother start to gossip with neighbors, she stops taking care of the house and begins to question her husband, taking it as a symbol of freedom from the gender expectations back in Mexico. Villarreal writes, Although he loved his mother, Richard realized that a family could not survive when the woman desired to command, and he knew that his mother was like a starving child who had become gluttonous when confronted with food. She had lived so long in the tradition of her country that she could not help herself now, and abused the privilege of equality afforded the women of her new country. • 40. The Importance Of Commercial Space Exploration Since the mid twentieth century, people have had a desire to explore different aspects of space. The space race between the United States of America and Russia was the height of space exploration. Now with modern interest in the colonization of Mars, the desire to explore space has, again, increased with 20 licensed launches in America in the 2017 calendar year according to the Federal Aviation Administration ( Commercial Space Data ). Different countries still express interest in exploring space, but commercial space exploration has become popular since the 2000 s. American organizations have to adhere to regulations of the FAA, the government organization that provides licenses and permits to enter into space. Many current pieces of legislation, which have solved multiple previous issues, can still be further developed to improve commercial space exploration in the future as Mars colonization becomes a more tangible goal. Robert Walker, a former member of the United States House of Representatives, declared that many of the current space laws make it easier for government to function in space (q.t.d Space Law ), but not companies that could revolutionize commercial space travel. Current American laws on regulations, protection for companies, and what people can do in space need to be altered in order for commercial space companies to reach Mars. To engage in space exploration, commercial companies must receive a license from the FAA, which is both an inconsistent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Christianity In The Early Middle Ages Essay Christianity in Europe during the Medieval Period encountered many hindrances such as corruption, sex, the Avignon Captivity, and the Great Schism. However, even though the church encountered many controversies which eventually undermined the foundation of the church, monastic revival reformed the church and ultimately restored the original beliefs. Corruption was present in many forms within the church during the medieval period. Many clergy members were landowners in late medieval Christianity and if they were not, the church would count on the nobles to share their profits from their peasants work. (Christian History, 2015) It was also familiar for members of clergy to buy their positions in order to obtain power and wealth. Priests were also known for visiting taverns, gambling, and having orgies with quarrels and blasphemy.
