It talks about what to blog about & shows examples, rather than discussing what blogs are and why to use them.
The importance of generational awareness for librariesSophie vd Walt
This is a presentation I presented at Library conference last week detailing the age of Higher Academic Librarians in South Africa.
I also talked about how the different generations view work and work with their co-workers.

The University of Cape Town subscribes to RefWorks, a web-based reference management service used for storing and organizing references. UCT staff and students may use RefWorks on campus and also off-campus (by logging in via EZProxy).
More information about RefWorks can be found on the UCT Libraries RefWorks information page.
This is a basic guide for students and staff in Kingston Business School who are new to RefWorks who want help with importing references or using Write-N-Cite.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

6. Logging in/Creating an Account You can now sign up for an individual account, or log in if you’ve already registered.
12. Navigating RefWorks The Bibliography is used to create a list of all your RefWorks references, or just a specific folder or a predefined list. This is not your references list / list of sources
13.
14. You can find all the different tutorials here as well as links to email the RefWorks administrator and RefWorks itself.
15.
16. Getting References into RefWorks Choose any database from the list provided …. An example would be Academic Search Premier available via EbscoHost.
17.
18.
19. Getting References into RefWorks Click on Export to export the references you’ve marked In the next window, tick “ Direct Export to RefWorks ” and then on Save .
20. Getting References into RefWorks RefWorks will open up automatically and you will see the importing screen. As soon as importing is complete, you will be able see how many references were imported. Click on View Last Imported Folder to view the references
21.
22. To create a New Folder, click on Folders and then on Create New folder Type in the name of your new folder and click on ok. Organising References
23. You can now select your references from the Last Imported Folder and Put them in your new folder (marked in red) Once you’ve done that they will be copied to the new folder, and you can delete them from the Last Imported Folder Organising References
24. Importing a text file e.g. Emerald Do a normal search and save it to the marked list Then download it and save it as a text file
25. Importing a text file e.g. Emerald Click on References- Import Then choose the database from the Import filter/data source and Attach your text file Once the import is complete your references will lie in the Last Imported Folder
26. Adding a reference manually Click on References and then Add New Reference
29. Adding a reference by using RefGrab-It RefGrab-It works with your browser to capture bibliographic information from web pages giving you the option to import that data into your RefWorks account. If an ISBN number, PubMed ID or DOI exist on the web page, RefGrab-It will automatically search various web resources to get supplemental information that may be of interest to you. RefWorks may also locate RSS feeds related to that web page. When you use RefGrab-It on a web page, it automatically opens a "temporary results page" in a new window. You can view the information and additional resources first, then decide if you want to import the data.
30. Adding a reference with RefGrab-It Once you are on the website you want to grab, make sure the pop-up blocker is turned off and click on your Favorites – Links – RefGrab-It
31. Adding a reference with RefGrab-It This is the information RefWorks was able to find on the page:
40. Create a bibliography: using Write-N-Cite Once complete W-n-C will be a toolbar attached to Word. It will also be a shortcut on your desktop.
41. Getting your reference into Word and writing your research When you are ready to type your research, you will be using the Write-N-Cite icon installed in Word.
42. Getting your reference into Word and writing your research Type your research as you would normally and when you are ready to add a citation, click on the Write-N-Cite icon ~ the RefWorks log-in page will be displayed, so please log in using the Group Code and your username and password .
44. Since we want to add a citation, I will click on Cite at the reference I want to add. Getting your reference into Word and writing your research
45. Getting your reference into Word and writing your research Once you’ve clicked on cite, RefWorks will place the citation into your Word document
46. Getting your reference into Word and writing your research We now need to add the page numbers. To do this click on the Edit Citation link to add the page numbers
47. Getting your reference into Word and writing your research Type in the page number, choose your citation style and click on Save to Word
48. Getting your reference into Word and writing your research The citation has been added, do NOT worry about the number and the {{ }} or the /s, that is just how RefWorks adds it, when you are ready to print out the final version (once you’ve added the bibliography) the citation formatting will change.
49. Getting your reference into Word and writing your research Once you have added all the citations, and you want to include the bibliography, click on Write-N-Cite again and then click on Bibliography
51. Getting your reference into Word and writing your research You will be asked to choose an Output Style i.e. in what reference format should your bibliography be. Choose one from the list and click on Create Bibliography
53. Remember that you are still responsible for the final editing and cleanup of your references. RefWorks saves you time, but does not do spell-checking or editing of any of the references imported from the databases, manually or from feeds. your references clean
