Really Good At Heart Quotes
In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart. This is a quote that
finished the play of Anne Frank. I believe that Anne Frank had a good heart despite people s
decisions because of what she stated in not only this quote but also throughout the play. This quote
reveals that Anne Frank was a gentle person and thought that people should be forgiven for their
actions. During this time in history many bad things were going on. Not only was it countries
fighting against and with each other, but it was also the Holocaust. Even though these people who
were participating were doing bad things, they could still be good at heart. Anne Frank tells us her
opinion of thinking that by saying In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good
at heart. Basically, she is telling us that people are doing what they are told and think is right. If
you imagine, for example, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is willing to forgive people, even if what they did was bad. You can see that through the
provided quote. Also, she worked with Mr. Dussel. Mr. Dussel had always been kept up in the
room that him an Anne shared. Anne and Mr. Dussel had made sleeping arrangements when he had
moved in. Originally, Anne had shared her room with her sister, Margot. Anne had the room to
herself in the mornings, and Margot had the room in the afternoon. Unfortunately, Mr. Dussel
wanted the opposite. He had the room in the mornings, and Anne had it in the afternoon. Even
though they had made this arrangement, Mr. Dussel did not follow through and was inside the
room for most of the day. He also got really worked up and angry a lot but, Anne stayed hopeful
that he would change his ways and he ended up being in better spirits. Her mother Edith and she,
did not have the best relationship. They both would yell at each other, but sometimes they would
get into very rough arguments. In the end Anne and her mother always find forgiveness with each

Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia
My research topic is about Leukemia. My goal is to inform about what leukemia is, the causes,
the risk factors, the history of the disease, how it is treated, and how it could be treated in the
future to increase curability and reduce mortality. My focus is going to be on a specific form of
leukemia, called Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia, or AML3. It is called AML3 because it is the M3
subtype of a form of leukemia called Acute Myelocytic Leukemia.
Leukemia is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. It forms when there is a mutation in the stem
cells that form into various blood cells. This mutation causes the cells to replicate uncontrollably,
and are put into the bloodstream while still immature. Since the blood is full of these immature cells,

Although many of the drugs used now are the same when AML3 was first discovered, we have
found better ways of implementing them, and newer drugs to use either to supplement or replace
altogether. One such drug is all trans retinoic acid. all trans retinoic acid, or ATRA, is a drug that
induces differentiation of leukemic promyelocytes into mature granulocytes. . . (Coombs et al.) .
On its own, ATRA produced complete remission rates of up to 72%, but unfortunately the patients
suffered from frequent relapses. Another newer drug implemented in clinical settings was Arsenic
Trioxide, or ATO. ATO was first utilised in APL patients in the early 1990s, and led to a high CR
rate with relatively long term remissions when used as a single agent. In preclinical models, the
combination of ATRA and ATO demonstrated synergism in inducing differentiation and apoptosis,
allowing for targeted therapy of APL without chemotherapy. (Coombs et al.). Basically, on their
own, both drugs work fairly well, but together they work with each other to kill the leukemic cells.
However, this was only in models. They still needed to prove themselves in a clinical environment
over a wide range of patients. A group of South Asian cancer centers took the

Describe The Differences Between The Axis And The Allies
The axis and the allies were two alliances or sides from the WW1. They both had different points
of view of what was right, that s why the war started in first place. The axis were also called the
central powers or the triple alliance, it was composed of Germany, Austria Hungary, and Italy at
first. The allies were also called the triple entente it was composed of France, UK, and Russia.
Axis was a military alliance, and it lasted from 20th may 1882 until WW1 1914. Some of the
leaders of Axis were from Austria Hungary Franz Joseph I, he was the emperor of Austria Hungary
at the time. From Germany Wilhelm II, he was the German Emperor at the time, and from the
Ottoman Empire was Mehmed V, he was the sultan of the Ottoman Empire. The Allies alliance
started in 1914 at the beginning of WW1 and ended in 1918. Some of the leaders in the Triple
Entente or Allies were: from the Russian Empire Nicolas II, he was the last tsar of Russia; he
died in war in July 17 1918. From France Raymond PoincarГ©, he was the French president at the

At first the Triple Alliance was formed by Germany, Austria Hungary, and Italy, but when the war
started Italy backed down from that Alliance, and joined the Allies. When the war began, it was
only Germany and Austria Hungary, but then the Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria joined. There were
other countries that joined as well, but they did not contribute as much as The Ottoman Empire and
Bulgaria. The alliance also had the name Central Powers because of where they were located. They
were all located between the Russian Empire in the east and France and the UK in the west. The
triple Entente started with France, Great Britain, and Russia. When Italy started having trouble
with the Axis, Italy started to plan joining the allies. Eventually Italy separated from the Axis, and
joined the Allies. After the war started, Japan joined the

Identity Formation
It is important to understand that immigration experiences are very personal and unique. There are
many different factors that play a role when immigrating to the United States, such as educational
challenges, family separations, and acculturation to say the least. Each individual has a different
story. However, for the most part the process of adapting to a new culturemeans creating a new
identity in order to feel welcomed into the new culture. There may be specific events that happen to
different families or individuals that make the transition and new identity formation more difficult
than others.
Identity formation affects first generation immigrants differently than second generation
immigrants because of having the space and acceptance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the neighborhood or school is clean, modern, and quiet there is an assumption that the community
is very wealthy. However when the characteristics are the complete opposite there will the
assumption that the community is made up of minority immigrants. This also applies for the
socioeconomic class that can be shown through the size of the house or the county one lives in
because some places have very high taxes. There is also a connection between the neighborhoods
where the schools are located because if a school has a heavy population of a minority group, then
the social interactions will remain with the same people rather than building tolerance with other

John Michael Malins V Solicitors Regulation Authority Case...
Case Comment: John Michael Malins v Solicitors Regulation Authority [2017] EWHC 835
(Admin) 2017 WL 01339062
Summary:
The facts of Malins v SRA 2017 are as follows: in 2013, the appellant provided his legal service
to his client, had filed for After the Event Insurance policy to help cover against adverse costs. In
2012, the law changed under the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012
and came into force on 1st April 2013 which stated under section 46 that claims after this date
would no longer be entitled to recover the costs. However, you would only be able to recover such
costs if a notice in form N251 had been given to the opposite party and filed at court. Although the
appellant thought that he had given the required notice on the 19th of Match 2013, the other side
affirmed during mediation, in January 2014, that they had not received any notice. Also, he was
informed by his assistant that he failed to file with the court too. This lead the appellant to create a
letter and a form N251 with a later date which he sent it to the other party and then subsequently
relied on it during the settlement.
In June of 2014, the appellant disclosed to the firm what he had done and then the firm reported
it to the SRA in October 2014. After this occurred the appellant proceeded to make a self report to
the SRA as well. The SRA argued lack of integrity according to the creation of the letter and form.
They also alleged that by relining on them the appellant had acted dishonestly. The Solicitors
Disciplinary Tribunal found the appellant guilty of dishonesty but he had also been charged with
acting without integrity, and was struck of the roll. The appellant appealed against both conviction
and sentence.
Legal issue:
The decision of the tribunal was that the appellant was found guilty of having acted with dishonesty
when he relied on the documents, but not when he created them, here he was charged with lack of
integrity. The court had to therefore consider what the definition of the words dishonesty and
integrity was.
Critical analysis:
The lead Mostyn J to search for the definition of each word and found dishonesty to be the reverse
of honesty; lack of probity or integrity; and

Contract Law Regarding Sales Transaction
In contract law concerning sales transaction, a Right to Cover is a remedy that is available to a
buyer under Article 2 of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), which governs the sales of
goods. The UCC states a buyer may use a cover as a protection in an action of a breach in a sales
contract. The buyer, in good faith, would purchase substitute goods when the seller violated the
contract and fail to deliver the goods the buyer has asked for. The buyer can recover from the
seller the difference of the cost of cover and contract price with any additional incidental or
consequential damages. In other words, after the seller breaches the contract, the buyer is able
to look for reasonable substitute goods. Then the buyer would have the damages recover from
the seller. For example Bob, the buyer owns a hair salon. Bob orders 15 boxes of shampoos
from John, the seller. John runs a hair supply store. Bob specifically orders the Green Tea
scented shampoos. In his order, Bob states that he must have the shampoos by January 21. Bob
pays the full contract price of $30 per box (a total of $450) to John. However on January 21,
John delivers 15 boxes of peppermint scented shampoos. The goods are nonconforming because
the shampoos are not what Bob has ordered. One option that Bob has is to cover or purchase
reasonable replacement goods. Bob then decides to contact another supplier; Susan to order the
Green Tea scented Shampoos and having it deliver on the same day. But Susan s hair supply

The Beer Simulation
Root Beer Simulation From what I could see, there were not multiple roles to play in this
simulation; instead, everyone logging into the simulation appears to play the same role, which was
that of the distributor ordering products from the manufacturer and attempting to get them to the
customers. This is an important point, because in many ways a distributor has greater flexibility
than a retailer and a manufacturer, but, in other ways, faces far greater constraints than business
people in other positions. The distributor s role is to get stuff from a manufacturer or other
wholesaler and then distribute that stuff to resellers. From reading the instructions, it appears that
there are actually different roles to play in the project, but I actually logged in from different
computers to see if I would get to play another role in the game, but every time I ended up in the
distributor role. One of the interesting things about the simulation was that one did not start from
scratch in the project. Instead, the simulation is already running and is in a certain week of
production and distribution when the student enters into the stimulation. This means that the
student gets both the benefit and the burden of work done by prior students. In my scenario, this
ended up having a very detrimental impact on me, because I began with a tremendous backlog of
product that my retailers had ordered from me. I cannot tell if the person before me was placing
small orders or if they were

De Beauvoir s “Woman as Other”
Woman as Other
De Beauvoir s Woman as Other lays out an elaborate argument on gender inequality; using the term
other to establish woman s alternate, lesser important role throughout her work, the author dissects
and examines from its origin the female s secondary position in society in contrast to man. Indeed,
from the beginning of recorded history, the duality of man, by definition, positions woman at the
opposing end of the spectrum in relation to her male counterpart. Even by today s modern and
accepting standards, the female suffers under the brand of being the sub standard half of the
duality equation; compared to her male opponent, women are paid lower wages, have fewer and
limited expression of rights, achieve lower ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, this has potential implications for the investment on the next generation; if parents
view daughters as less likely to earn market wages or take paid work, they may be less inclined
to invest in their education, which is woman s fastest route out of poverty. Also, in a job market
dominated by men who monopolize the most important positions, the male faction generally
retains the opportunities for success, for advancement or for higher wages. In fact, a recent class
action lawsuit filed on behalf of 1.6 million women employed by Wal Mart stores alleges the
retailer s sexual discrimination has led to women losing out on pay, promotions and other advances;
women are paid less than men in every department of the store. According to the study named in the
lawsuit, two thirds of Wal Mart s employees are female and less than one third of its managers are
female Until recently, social development, by design has guaranteed women limited growth in the
employment ranks by the standard curriculum path recommended for the female gender; typical
high school and junior colleges required home economics and other domestic related courses to be
completed by female students. Thus, the woman high school or junior college graduate enters the
world without adequate training to compete in the business world beyond basic trade or blue collar
worker positions. Finally, a

South Carolina Dbq Questions And Answers
Why Was Charles Town Impenetrable to Settle OnSouth Carolina is a triven state in the United
States, it has a lot of history to it like having a lot to do in the revolutionary war. It has some of the
outstanding neighborhood in America. It seems to be a good vacation spot, well it would surprise
people to know that South Carolinawas once a place where some settlers were trying to settle on the
land, but a couple of things kept the settlers from settling on the rich land. Geography, resources,
and diseases.
One of the reasons Charles Town was tough to settle on was because of geography, the early maps
made it challenging for settles because of the fear of abduction or being taken prisoner from
Natives Americans or pirates. The early ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the first settlers landed on south carolina they were limited with resources. When settlers
came they described the land as flat and woody which means covered in trees as it is stated in
Document B, James Glen, A Description of south Carolina, 1761, the land of South Carolina for
a hundred or a hundred and fifty miles back is flat and woody; intersected with many large
rivers, some of which rise out of the out of the Cherokee Mountains. The land made finding a
place to settle hard because it was hard to reach. After they settled or somewhat of settled the
diversity of the soil made it tough to grow food, soil like clay, loam, and marl were hard to
distinguish. Clay is a type of soil that does not help plants grow or can grow plant, loam is like
clay but with sand and silt, but silt is like a fertilizer that helps plants grow .The diversity of the
lands soil made it difficult for the settlers to identify the type of soil like clay, loam, and marl. The
lands of savannah was also cleared by indians and did not produce any trees. The land they wanted
to settle on was filled with dangerous creatures of nature. These creatures include Panthers,
Tigers, wolves, and other dangerous animals, which in a cause of this became dangerous at night,
and day.
There was another reason South Carolina was hard to settle on, it s because to diseases.
Diseases like the small poxs were what damaged the population and reduced it to not that much
people. Then the settlers decided to settle in South carolina, they were mat with a violent kind of
small pox rages in Charles Town. As it is stated in Document E The Letterbook of Eliza Lucas
Pinckney 1739 1762 a violent kind of small pox rages in Charles Town that most puts a stop to all
business . The small pox are one of the reasons South Carolina was tough to settle

Herskovitz Short Story
Eleven million people were killed during the Holocaust. To put that in perspective, imagine
waking up and all the people in New York and Chicago combined were killed. That is how many
people had lost their lives because of what they believed in and how they looked. Racism, hatred,
and bigotry toward the Jewish, gypsy, and others caused a genocide of innocent people. The ones
who survived were left with a memory of fear and maltreatment. Very few are able to talk about
what happened to this day.
Michael Herskovitz is a man who lived through the Holocaust to tell his story. Born in Botfalva,
Czechoslovakia in 1929, he grew up with 2 brothers and 2 sisters and raised by his mother and
father. Their family owned a small store and lived in the town as one of two Jewish families.
Herskovitz was told he wasn t allowed to go to school anymore and soon after German soldiers
caused his family business to close down. Not to long after, Herskovitz and his family were told
to leave his home and were transported to a ghetto named Uzhhorod. They were transported
from the ghetto to a concentration camp soon later. They were placed at Auschwitz. Here,
Herskovitz was separated from his family. His little brother and mother had been placed in a line
for those who were incapable of work, his sisters were put in the line for girls and women, his
father went in the line for adults, and Herskovitz went in the line for teenagers. Herskovitz and his

Project Title:OPTICAL CHARACTER RECOGNITION USING ARTIFICIAL
NEURAL NETWORKS
Abstract: The Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is becoming popular areas of
research under pattern recognition and smart device applications. It requires the intelligence
like human brain to recognize the various handwritten characters. Artificial Neural Network
(ANN) is used together the information required to recognize the characters adaptively. This
paper presents a performance analysis of character recognition by Scale Invariant Feature
(SIF) matrix with a Back Propagation Neural network (BPN). A GUI based OCR system is
developed using Mat lab. The results are shown for the English alphabets and numeric. This
is observed that the perceptron network converges faster, whereas the BPN can handle the
complex script recognition when the training set is enriched.
Keywords:
Character recognition, back propagation neural network, scale invariant feature
Introduction:
Automatic character recognition is a well accepted area of research under pattern recognition.
In handwritten character recognition, characters are written by different individuals that vary
drastically from person to person due to variation in the writing style, its size and orientation
of characters. This makes the system difficult to recognize the characters. Artificial Neural
Network (ANN) helps to solve the problem of identifying handwritten characters in an
automated manner. ANN is an adaptive

but in the book the Odyssey trust was about trusting the gods and trusting that someone, a leader

Juan Seguin s Famous Fights
Juan Seguin is an extraordinary Texas figure in a lot of famous fights. Many people might not
know about him, but when you read this you will know all of his contributions. Juan Seguin was
born on October 27, 1806 in San Antonio. His parents were Juan Jose Maria Erasmo Seguin
(who started one of the first schools) and Maria Josefa Becerra. Although he had little formal
schooling, he was encouraged by his father to read and write At a young age Juan started to help
his mother run his father s post office. This little bit of caring for his mother and father helped
turn him into the person everyone knows today. When he was about 12, Juan got his first horse
that he named Reina or princess. Three years later at age 15 he went on his first mission. Then at
age 17 he was a congressman for 2 years. This gave him the political help that he needed in the

The Problem Of Reckless Driving
In the United States, Reckless driving is the number one cause of teenage death in the nation.
Reckless driving can be classified as anything from speeding and swerving, to purposely trying to
run someone over, or hurt them while driving. In America, there are countless organizations calling
to help end the high death rate in teenagers that reckless drivingtakes. People such as Parents,
Drivers Education Instructors and even state legislators have realized the problem and are
seeking reform. In 2011 alone 2,650 teens between the ages of 16 19 were killed due to reckless
driving. (CDC) Reckless driving is a death that is very preventable, with proper education and
warning. As well as problem that is not taken seriously by the juvenile s committing the act.
Most juveniles don t worry what so ever about dying in a car crash because they think that it won
t happen to them. Under Reckless Driving, in Green Bay, speeding, not paying attention and lack
of caring are three of the biggest issues with teen drivers and juveniles. In Wisconsin, Reckless
driving is classified under state statute 346.62 as causing bodily harm, or Great bodily harm.
(346.62 1ab) It is also states that No person may endanger the safety of any person or property by

Franz Marc Deer
Vivid colors, sharp lines and turns, contrast, variety, this painting has it all. It is beautiful and
extremely unique, it is whimsical and creative, it is a piece of art that not many of us can
understand. When I first looked at Deer in the Forest painted by Franz Marc in 1913, I saw bright
colors and a couple deer, I saw trees and an owl. I saw a forest. I could see red, orange, yellow,
green, and even shades of blue, there was brown and white, with hints of black and grey. The
painting seems flat, there were no three dimensional objects or any painting techniques to make
the picture pop out at you. The lines are extremely straight, however, there are some curved
lines. Deer in the Forest is an abstract piece. Deer, the deer are the central focus of this painting.
They are centrally placed and proportional in size to the rest of the objects in the painting. The
contrast of colors is very different in my eyes, I am not used to seeing all of the colors of the
rainbow in one picture, it is just odd to me, however, in this situation, I find it very pleasing. To
me, the colors are extremely dull, he used the lowest variant of the colors and placed them in a way
that made them somewhat pop at your eyes. It catches your attention, in the best way possible....

I believe Franz Marc was extremely successful in relaying his message to his viewers. His
painting is original and unique, it is eye catching and unusual. However, I do not think this is an
accurate depiction of the artist skills, I believe he could have done more with the lines and
space, he could have brought out the deer more or brightened the hues of the colors, I seems as
if it was rushed and he didn t have a plan. I believe he did not have a plan, he just touched the pen
to the paper and let it go. But do not get me wrong, I love this piece, I would definitely buy this
painting and place it in my home, but not for others to see

Safety In South Street Philadelphia
South Street Philadelphia s sidewalk s safety is not determined by the strangers shuffling in and
out of the area, but instead by the local residents and community members who live there. Based
on my personal observations, the biggest asset to South Street in regard to safety and overall
quality of the area are the locals who reside there. This idea of community investment relating to the
safetyof a street is presented in Jane Jacob s novel The Death and Life of Great American Cities
and is one of her ideas that is accurately displayed throughout South Street. By examining the
various ways people interact in different areas and shops on South Street, I was able to evaluate
what aspects of her writing proved to be beneficial to the overall safety of the area.
Jacobs argues that one of the fundamental components to making a sidewalk safe is the ... Show

However, the attitudes and mentalities of those eyes on the street directly affects their willingness
to keep it safe. Undoubtedly, South Street Philadelphia is a well populated area that generates
hundreds of tourists every day, whether it be through the allure of the various shops or the dozens
of restaurants and bars that reside there. The main downside to having these strangers present on
the streets is the fact that they have virtually no ties to the area. Due to the fact that many of these
visitors have little to no investment in the quality and safety of South Street, they play a
seemingly small role in the safety of the sidewalk. Sure, they provide extra eyes on the street, but
if those eyes have little reason to care about the street itself, how beneficial can they really be?

Jack London Figurative Language
The first few chapters of White Fang were very detailed because Jack London used great
figurative language and had good choice of words to describe he s setting. The book states Dark
spruce forest frowned on either side the frozen waterway. The trees had been stripped by a recent
wind of their white covering of frost, and they seemed to lean toward each other, black and
ominous, in the fading light (London 1) which is a great example of Jack Londonbeing really
detailed. Also these first few chapters had a lot of figurative language and metaphors. Having
figurative language and metaphors in a story are really important because it can keep the reader
interested in the book and you can keep the reader thinking. An example of figurative language...

For example, The land itself was a desolation, lifeless, without movement, so lone and cold that
the spirit of it was not even that of sadness (London 1). This quote is an example of how he is
very detailed and how he describes what kind of setting his characters are in because he
describes how desolate and quiet the forest is; which also gives us an idea and a feel for how the
setting is in the book. Being detailed about the setting helps the reader because the reader would
know where the characters are at and the time the story takes place in; also being detailed in the
setting is important because if the reader doesn t know what a forest is it kind of gives them a
feel of what a forest is like. The book also states, The unrest of the dogs had been increasing, and
they stampeded, in a surge of sudden fear, to the near side of the fire, cringing and crawling
about the legs of the men. In the scramble one of the dogs had yelped with pain and fright as the
smell of its singed coat possessed the air (London 7). This quote is another example of why
being really detailed is important because it adds more intensity to action scenes so it gets the
reader at the edge of their sits. It s important to have the reader at the edge of their sits so the
author can keep the reader interested into the book and keep their minds thinking of what might
happen next. These are some reasons why Jack London is very detailed in these first few

The Creation Of A Hip Hop Music Genre
Hip Hop
The music that truly inspires who I am today would have to be hip hop. The genre itself has been
around for generations and many more to come. Let alone of the sheer diversity of the genre.
Also, the variations each rapper, emcee, etc. to bring to the genre makes it so much larger than
people may think about it. Last, but not least hip hop has a lot of culture and its only been around
since 1979.
First, of all the genre hip hop is truly diverse open to any and of all ethnicities to join the genre.
Another reason, is that hip hop has very nice production from the G funk era, to the trap era that is
of the present. Furthermore, people may think hip hop is only rap, but that isn t true. Hip hop can
be varies from singing to even sing song rapping. Those were some of the main points to ho hip hop

genres, from RNB to soul, except for country they both don t mix. Finally, some hip hop artists
use their music as a public diary from Eminem to Hopsin which both are my favorite to listen to
as of now. To get back to the point, these are one of the many reasons why I truly love and get

Comparison Between Developing And Developed Nations
Both developing and developed nations were part of the set. The developed nations consisted of
47% of the total set. We started with 43 nations and dropped a few countries later from the analysis
because of missing data.

Table 2 shows the correlation results among various variables. Average serviceis correlated with all
cultural dimensions, except for MF and the correlations are in predicted directions of hypotheses 1

The OLS regression results are shown in Table 3. Here also we find that the coefficients of all
cultural dimensions (except for MF) area significant and in predicted directions. This provides

Book Of Jonah Essay
The purpose of the book of Jonah is to show God s people that His plan is exceedingly
compassionate (God is gracious) and exceedingly certain (God is sovereign). The central theme
of the book of Jonah is the God who loves in freedom. We should desire to understand, accept, and
love God s sovereign grace, rather than oppose it or be resentful of it. The book of Jonahstresses the
freedom and primacy of Godand God s initiative and grace toward humanity. Christians, applying
the theology of Jonah to the person and work of Jesus, could claim that Jesus Christ is the freedom
of God acting in love toward humanity
Major Themes 1. Mercy God s compassion extends even beyond what we would like, even to
those whom we ourselves show no mercy. God s Sovereignty His plan will be carried out and
cannot be avoided. 3. Resentment The book is a vivid portrait of what bitterness and resentment
against other people and against God s plan can do to a person s soul even the soul of God s own
prophet.
The book of Jonah demonstrates the scope of God s mercy as He receives other nations and the
mediatory role Israel was to fulfill in its prophetic role to the nations. This focus is expressed in
the two central themes of the book: the universality of God s mercy (and by implication, the
universality of His judgment) and the mediatory role of Israel. Included in these two themes of
God s freedom and resourcefulness are His undeviating effort to instill mercy, His right and ... Show

How Tinnitus Is Defined As A Symptom A Perception Of Sound
Tinnitus is defined as a symptom a perception of sound which is not relative to any external
stimulus where an individual perceives ringing, bussing and other sounds in varying durations of
episodes which can be continuous, intermittent or pulsatile in a range of frequency and intensities
which are often unable to be masked by external sounds. Tinnitusaffects approximately 5 15% of
the western adult population with 1 2% of the population to a debilitating degree (Schlee et al,.
2011).
Tinnitus can be separated into two categories, subjective tinnitus shows no objective sound and is
only heard by the patient, Objective tinnitus is the less common type which can often be heard by
an observer by stethoscope as it is caused by conductions such as turbulence and pulsation of
muscle spasms in body tissues such as middle ear, Eustachian tube or soft palate. Currently, there is
no FDA or EMA approved drugs on the market for this specific purpose. (Langguth and Elgoyhen,
2012) Many studies have been carried out to find a successful pharmacological treatment for
tinnitus but had critical flaws in their design and methods; Some fail to adopt the correct analytical
method to measure their outcomes which affect their external validity, four studies have been
chosen each addressing different treatments using single or combination of drugs for analysis in
their methodology and experimental design .

December 1, 2014
Mobile payments are becoming an upcoming new trend when it comes to technology. Mobile
payments allow its users to pay for their daily needs with their phone without having to carry cash,
let alone, their wallets around. However, the United States has been delaying the adaptation of
mobile payments due to the fact that many different retailers have developed their own form of
mobile payments as opposed to a universal approach. While many countries in Europe and Asia
have successfully adopted mobile payments, United States still are behind in the trend.
Introduction:
As technology grows, so do the consumers. Consumers rely so much on easy shopping and
simplified checking out possibilities that application developers have started to develop more
mobile payment applications. These mobile payments are the technology of the future and yet
the United States is still lagging behind in the rush to simplify shopping from a plastic card to a
mobile app. However, with such developers from Apple and Google, there are applications where
the mobile phone can stand as a wallet, but retailors do not necessarily choose a universal
application to use. With Apple Pay and Google Wallet actively used, many retailors have opted to
convert their merchandise to be payable with such applications .

What Are The Characters In The Novel Paperboy
1, The first paragraph of the novel Paperboy talks mainly about the characters. The story talks about
the stabbing so the character may have experienced some horrible things. Then it goes on by stating
why the main character (Victor) has a disability to have a talk fluently. And lastly, it said that
characternamed Mam has lain too by the main character and that might mean they don t have a
good relationship with the main character.
2. If a character in the story was represented by an animal I would classify Victor as a snake and
Ara T as a rat. Victor is a snake because people actually call him a snake. They call him that since
he hisses whenever he s stuck on a word so he could sneak up on it. Ara T is a rat because he
collects trash, has dirty baggy clothes, and goes around the streets. This portrays a rat because they
re dirty and roam the streets.
3. There are many patterns in the book. One of the patterns I spotted was that he goes to knock
on the door to collected weekly fees and at first he is always scared. But every time he talks to a
neighbor they all give him warm welcomes and shows that they can understand and care for him.
Another pattern I spotted was always he messes up in every house. He messed by saying a bad
word to the neighbor, messes up by leaving a question and standing there for a minute, and he
messed up by lying to Mrs.Rat.
4. An artifact that would help you understand the character IS this book because it s his diary
/memoir. There is a lot

Medical Ethics In Prisoners Of War
Prisoners of war have been experimented on since the late 1930s. In world war 2 according to the
medical ethics timeline:
During World War II, Nazi doctors conduct experiments on thousands of concentration camp
prisoners Jews, Gypsies, and others without their consent. Experiments are conducted to find ways
to help Axis military personnel to survive injuries, diseases and other conditions suffered in
wartime. Prisoners in concentration camps such as Auschwitz, Buchenwald and Dachau undergo
painful and often deadly experiments, such as freezing experiments to find a treatment for
hypothermia or high altitude tests to determine the highest altitude a crew member from a damaged

Judeo-Christian Philosophy Research Paper
Christian exegesis originates on Jesus Christ s rebuke of Hebraic Literalism concerning issues such
as, the Sabbath, sacrifice and rabbinic authority. However, Christianity hinges on original sin

Therefore just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death

Information Systems Security Review
Information Systems Security Review
Introduction
Information systems have three parts which include hardware, software and the communications
aspect. This view of Information systems is useful in applying industry standards for protection as
well as prevention at all layers (Spagnoletti and Resca, 2008). Procedures will tell the personnel
operating, or the administrators, how the products would ensure organizational information security.
Information System implies information that requires protection from improper access, disclosure,
or destruction (Spagnoletti and Resca, 2008). This is possible if the system ensures availability,
confidentiality, as well as integrity of any data in an organization. Corporations, financial
institutions, and governments have a lot of information on products, finances, research, and
employees. This information usually resides in electronic media and may move from one point to
another. Furthermore, with the advances in networks, transmission to other computers or access
points within a physical location or across the globe is possible. Any breach of the information
may have far reaching consequences such as bankruptcy, loss of competitive edge or lawsuits from
customers or business partners (Mithas et al, 2011). It is, therefore, imperative to ensure
Information Security.

Shifting Women s Views By Harriet Martineau And Dorothy...
Shifting Women s Views Although we see many shifts taking place in Britain between the
Romantic and Victorian periods, such as the abolishment of slavery, the discoveries by
astronomers and biologists, as well as this being at the highest point of development as a world
power (1017). Throughout the Romantic and Victorian periods of British history, we also witness
the emergence of an inner consciousness of women, which denounced those accepted by society
at the time. This is illustrated through observing the parallels and contrasts within the writings of
Harriet Martineau and Dorothy Wordsworth. The inner reflections of these women writers not
only rejects the Angel in the House ideal placed upon women, which is found in The Paragon by
, but also contradicts those illustrated in My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover. One can also
see that the new emerging consciousness of women was a reflection of the social unrest during
these time periods. During the Romantic period, England was experiencing the ordeal of change
from a primarily agricultural society, where wealth and power had been concentrated in the
landholding aristocracy, to a modern industrial nation (5). Because of these shifts, times were
exceedingly difficult for country people, many were displaced from their small family farms, and
women had fewer options to support themselves without husbands. We also see these realities
reflected in the prose of Dorothy Wordworth s journals. There are many

Theories Of Hominin Evolution
Thinking about evolutionary theory, some people s first thoughts are humans have come from
monkeys. From what I have learned thus far in Archaeology is that there is more to evolutionary
theory than what one would have previously thought. Prior to entering Introduction to Archaeology
I had almost no knowledge about hominin evolution. The only idea I had about hominin evolution
is the single line of an ape that evolves into a human. For me personally I did not see the relevance
of hominin evolution, I believed that evolution did happen, for example; Darwin s findings on the
Galapagos Islands with how finch beaks change depending on the diet. I believe that evolution does
occur, what I struggled with was the hominin evolution. Prior to class... Show more content on

I especially enjoyed the video on homo Naledi, it was exciting and I thought it gave an in depth
idea of hominin evolution. It is important for Paleoanthropologists to continue their work because
there could so much more evidence that has not been uncovered yet. Earlier in my paper I said
that my previous understanding of hominin evolution was a straight line of an ape evolving into a
human. However, that is not at all the case. The hominin evolution is similar to many branches
coming off of each other into eventually what separates the earliest apes from the earliest humans.
Branches do come off that have no leads to any other type hominin, which is where the possibility
lies on whether, that branch went extinct, or the remaining branches have not been found yet. This
is why the story of discovering Sediba was so significant. Sediba was a branch of hominid that had
never discovered before it was a missing link from Australopithecus to Homo Ergaster. Without
Paleoanthropologists continuing to search out new evidence, Sediba may have never been found.
Paleoanthropologists need to continue to search for new evidence proving the evolution of
hominids further, for many reasons. One is to find more missing links in the branches like Sediba.
Another reason is to

Maintaining Competitive Edge
Wal Mart needs to identify and nurture the primary core competency that fueled their growth:
fulfilling customer needs with a wide spectrum of products at everyday low prices This
competency is the product of the aggregate of competencies across individual skill sets and
organization boundaries: Wal Mart is a leader in channel management, inventory control,

information management and distributing network and to efficiently manage supplier relations,
through the use of new technologies and the seamless flow of information. Wal Mart was a leader

The Problem Of Global Warming
Analyse the problem of global warming and suggest possible solution
With the rising global temperatures, the global warming has become more and more popular. In
fact, it is a natural phenomenon, which has developed in recent decades due to human?s activities,
such as burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. These actions will produce large amounts of
greenhouse gas, which would cause the Earth s temperature go up so that the climate will change.
More importantly, the Global warming melt all the world s glaciers and permafrost so that the
level of the sea will go up. As a result, human and natural ecosystems will suffer from great harm.
There are many reasons why the global climate is changing. Among those, there are two main
reasons, the surge of population and serious environmental pollution. Unfortunately, those two
reasons are caused by our human?s activities. This essay will analyse the cause of this problem
and list two solutions on global warming. The first one is to promote clean energy and reduce the
use of fossil fuels. The second one is to call for people to eat meat.
The most important factor the climate change is the growing population. Proportional to the increase
in human population and resource consumption, and faster population growth and large population
size, the more emissions will impact on the climate. The relationship between population and
climate change is complex, not as simply as reducing the performance of the total population
change or the

Reliability Of Political Authority In Classical China
The stability and reliability of political authority in China, namely a centralized monarchy, differed
from Rome s so called republic, which provoked rebellion and political chaos due to the local
authorities focus on expansion and lack of control in the empire. Political stability was dominant
feature throughout most of classical China, although times of warring, namely the Era of Warring
States (5th to 3rd c. CE) and the Age of Division (3rd to 6th c. CE), did exist. However, the success
of the dynastic structure of Chinese governments has been constant for almost the entirety of
Chinese history, and brief periods of conflict are insignificant in comparison. The contrast in
political leadership is illustrated by how supreme authority was... Show more content on

The republic failed to function effectively, prompting tyrant after tyrant to make his quest to the
throne. This difference occurred because of the societies different approach to the equality of
distribution of leadership in military conquests and the homeland. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty
expanded north into Korea and south into Vietnam by 111 BCE, and used the tributary system to
effectively contact foreign authorities and communicate with those in his empire; however, in
contrast, Roman legionaries participated in Roman Punic Wars and wars of conquest (3rd and 2nd
c. BCE), deserting their land in the empire, and the wars were halted when the struggles for
authority began as the legionaries returned to find their land in unorganized chaos. Emperor Wu s
ability to expand his empire and communicate with foreign societies and authorities while
maintaining order in China allowed expansion to continue. In contrast the absence of Roman
legionaries controlling farmland caused such farms to become less successful and productive, as

Bankfull Discharge Lab Report
Introduction The Jemez River, located in north central New Mexico, is an alluvial stream that
converges with the Rio Guadelupe. The purpose of this lab was to collect hydrologic data related
to the Jemez River and the Rio Guadalupe in order to evaluate the whether the prevailing ideas
about bankfull discharge are applicable to this system. The ideas that bankfull discharge is the
most important factor in determining the geomorphic characteristics of the stream, and that
bankfull discharge is has a recurrence interval of approximately 1.5 years were tested using field
data collected and compared to real time data collected below the confluence of the Jemez and Rio
Guadalupe rivers.
Background
Alluvial streams form in the sediments they transport and deposit, and channel morphology is a
reflection of this process (Church, 2006). In arid environments, flood flows ... Show more content

Gravity is one of the dominant forces acting to move water down slope, and the shear stress (П„),
or the resisting force exerted by bed and bank material act as the force opposing down slope
movement (Leopold et al., 1964). The variables considered in table 1 allow us to determine
wither sediment of a certain size will become mobile at bankfull flow, and ultimately be able to
shape the stream channel. In order for median sized sediment to become entrained, the bed shear
stress (П„b) must be greater than the critical shear stress (П„c), or the resistance force of the
sediment quantified by the Shields number. The streams ability to transport large clasts can be
assessed using the Costa entrainment velocity, and the critical value for the deposition of large
clasts (П„b) that may have been mobilized further up stream can be estimated using the O Connor
equation. The values assessed can ultimately offer insight into stream power or the energy available
for sediment transport and

The Writings Of Christopher Columbus
The nature in which we live is truly a beautiful thing. When the Europeans first made contact in
North America, they were immediately in love with the views they encountered. They were
interested in wanting to know more about the land, the animals that peeked around, and the
people who called it home. Artists such as, John White had heard the tales of what Christopher
Columbus had described during his time in North America, which led to them wanting to make
their own discoveries. Everyone had their own opinions and views of the world but artists were
able to capture the natural images and feeling they had through their paintings. Landscape
paintings became of interest to artists as a way to depict nature, a man s spiritual place in the
world, and his relation to God. The paintings of nature became a way for artists to express
themselves visually and spiritually, while also expanding what people could see, read, and feel.
Landscape paintings helped to grow communities and expand western movement. There was an
issue between tearing down and using the resources of nature to build communities and to
increase material wealth. Thomas Cole, an American artists who trained in Europe in landscape
painting for a few years felt that America s nature was the most beautiful to be seen. Cole
depicted Native Americans in a few of his paintings. The landscape painting of Niagara Falls was
one of Cole s most notable works of art. People found very little interests in his religious

A Report On Google s Driverless Car
Google s driverless car; are they the future, technologies most recent trumpet, world s next thing
or the latest catastrophe, next failure, biggest let down yet? Google has produce multiple
products over the years that were successful and some that lack success. The latest product their
trying to liftoff is the Google Car. A driverless car that can rely on their sensors and software to
drive themselves. The idea of a car that drives without a driver is by far interesting, but is it
good to have a person life in the hands of a machine. Some people thinks this plan is a dead end:
Ian Pearson, a futurologist, says What Google is proposing is obsolete, Pearson, who is also a
fellow at the World Academy for Arts and Science, said. It doesn t exist yet, but there isn t any
point in going through that phase. There are two Italian researchers are looking to release self
driving pods. The pods, called Next, they re driverless boxes that will take you anywhere. But
even the Next pods fall short of what Pearson foresees. For one, Next is a public transportation
system that is controlled by a third party. The pods will pick you up after you request one through
an app. (Muoio) So, there other things that are similar to driverless car that are surfacing around
the world. Not just driverless cars; but the concept that a computer having to make so many
complex choices is unsettling to some people. There are obstacles that these mindful machines have

Advertising Is A Major Part Of Our Culture
Advertising is a major part of our culture/society; it surrounds us wherever we go. Yet a lot of
people don t realize the underlying messages, and the stark differences between ads aimed at men
and women. It s most certainly different when compared to the ads from the
1950 s, however when we think about how far we ve come as a society it s astounding that
advertisers still play towards these generalizations/misconceptions about gender roles. In some
cases they re reversing the roles to be inclusive and following the current trends, but at the same
time there are ads that promote those same stereotypes that have been around for decades.
They tell us as a society that no matter what form they come in, stereotypes will always be

Of course the same company makes lotion ads for women as well. This ad showcases a woman
getting dressed, presumably after putting lotion on, her eyes looking off at something/someone
in the distance. It could have just shown her putting lotion on her legs, but it has to show her in
her bra and underwear to say that women put lotion all over their bodies. It doesn t have to be
hard work to maintain soft skin, but it should be maintained at all times, even when clothes are
being put on, just in case they re going to be taken off later. Some psychologists say that the
circuit from eyes to brain to genitals is a quicker trip for men than for women (187). If that s
true then why is a woman s lotion ad displaying a woman in her undergarments? Perhaps in some
way it s telling men to buy their partner this lotion because she ll have to be nearly naked to put it
on. Even when an ad is geared towards women, it still plays on the needs/desires of men. As John
Berger states; Men act and women appear (208). That is the case in most ads, but in each ad the
man and woman are in a state of movement, however there are major differences. This Nivea ad
for men, and several others, only shows the face as if that s the only place that they need to put
lotion. Whereas the ad geared towards women shows her in a state of getting dressed (in all white

  • 2. Really Good At Heart Quotes In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart. This is a quote that finished the play of Anne Frank. I believe that Anne Frank had a good heart despite people s decisions because of what she stated in not only this quote but also throughout the play. This quote reveals that Anne Frank was a gentle person and thought that people should be forgiven for their actions. During this time in history many bad things were going on. Not only was it countries fighting against and with each other, but it was also the Holocaust. Even though these people who were participating were doing bad things, they could still be good at heart. Anne Frank tells us her opinion of thinking that by saying In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart. Basically, she is telling us that people are doing what they are told and think is right. If you imagine, for example, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She is willing to forgive people, even if what they did was bad. You can see that through the provided quote. Also, she worked with Mr. Dussel. Mr. Dussel had always been kept up in the room that him an Anne shared. Anne and Mr. Dussel had made sleeping arrangements when he had moved in. Originally, Anne had shared her room with her sister, Margot. Anne had the room to herself in the mornings, and Margot had the room in the afternoon. Unfortunately, Mr. Dussel wanted the opposite. He had the room in the mornings, and Anne had it in the afternoon. Even though they had made this arrangement, Mr. Dussel did not follow through and was inside the room for most of the day. He also got really worked up and angry a lot but, Anne stayed hopeful that he would change his ways and he ended up being in better spirits. Her mother Edith and she, did not have the best relationship. They both would yell at each other, but sometimes they would get into very rough arguments. • 3. Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia My research topic is about Leukemia. My goal is to inform about what leukemia is, the causes, the risk factors, the history of the disease, how it is treated, and how it could be treated in the future to increase curability and reduce mortality. My focus is going to be on a specific form of leukemia, called Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia, or AML3. It is called AML3 because it is the M3 subtype of a form of leukemia called Acute Myelocytic Leukemia. Leukemia is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. It forms when there is a mutation in the stem cells that form into various blood cells. This mutation causes the cells to replicate uncontrollably, and are put into the bloodstream while still immature. Since the blood is full of these immature cells, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although many of the drugs used now are the same when AML3 was first discovered, we have found better ways of implementing them, and newer drugs to use either to supplement or replace altogether. One such drug is all trans retinoic acid. all trans retinoic acid, or ATRA, is a drug that induces differentiation of leukemic promyelocytes into mature granulocytes. . . (Coombs et al.) . On its own, ATRA produced complete remission rates of up to 72%, but unfortunately the patients suffered from frequent relapses. Another newer drug implemented in clinical settings was Arsenic Trioxide, or ATO. ATO was first utilised in APL patients in the early 1990s, and led to a high CR rate with relatively long term remissions when used as a single agent. In preclinical models, the combination of ATRA and ATO demonstrated synergism in inducing differentiation and apoptosis, allowing for targeted therapy of APL without chemotherapy. (Coombs et al.). Basically, on their own, both drugs work fairly well, but together they work with each other to kill the leukemic cells. However, this was only in models. They still needed to prove themselves in a clinical environment over a wide range of patients. A group of South Asian cancer centers took the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Identity Formation It is important to understand that immigration experiences are very personal and unique. There are many different factors that play a role when immigrating to the United States, such as educational challenges, family separations, and acculturation to say the least. Each individual has a different story. However, for the most part the process of adapting to a new culturemeans creating a new identity in order to feel welcomed into the new culture. • 8. John Michael Malins V Solicitors Regulation Authority Case... Case Comment: John Michael Malins v Solicitors Regulation Authority [2017] EWHC 835 (Admin) 2017 WL 01339062 Summary: The facts of Malins v SRA 2017 are as follows: in 2013, the appellant provided his legal service to his client, had filed for After the Event Insurance policy to help cover against adverse costs. In 2012, the law changed under the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 and came into force on 1st April 2013 which stated under section 46 that claims after this date would no longer be entitled to recover the costs. However, you would only be able to recover such costs if a notice in form N251 had been given to the opposite party and filed at court. Although the appellant thought that he had given the required notice on the 19th of Match 2013, the other side affirmed during mediation, in January 2014, that they had not received any notice. Also, he was informed by his assistant that he failed to file with the court too. This lead the appellant to create a letter and a form N251 with a later date which he sent it to the other party and then subsequently relied on it during the settlement. In June of 2014, the appellant disclosed to the firm what he had done and then the firm reported it to the SRA in October 2014. After this occurred the appellant proceeded to make a self report to the SRA as well. The SRA argued lack of integrity according to the creation of the letter and form. They also alleged that by relining on them the appellant had acted dishonestly. The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found the appellant guilty of dishonesty but he had also been charged with acting without integrity, and was struck of the roll. The appellant appealed against both conviction and sentence. Legal issue: The decision of the tribunal was that the appellant was found guilty of having acted with dishonesty when he relied on the documents, but not when he created them, here he was charged with lack of integrity. The court had to therefore consider what the definition of the words dishonesty and integrity was. Critical analysis: The lead Mostyn J to search for the definition of each word and found dishonesty to be the reverse of honesty; lack of probity or integrity; and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Contract Law Regarding Sales Transaction In contract law concerning sales transaction, a Right to Cover is a remedy that is available to a buyer under Article 2 of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), which governs the sales of goods. The UCC states a buyer may use a cover as a protection in an action of a breach in a sales contract. The buyer, in good faith, would purchase substitute goods when the seller violated the contract and fail to deliver the goods the buyer has asked for. The buyer can recover from the seller the difference of the cost of cover and contract price with any additional incidental or consequential damages. In other words, after the seller breaches the contract, the buyer is able to look for reasonable substitute goods. Then the buyer would have the damages recover from the seller. For example Bob, the buyer owns a hair salon. Bob orders 15 boxes of shampoos from John, the seller. John runs a hair supply store. Bob specifically orders the Green Tea scented shampoos. In his order, Bob states that he must have the shampoos by January 21. Bob pays the full contract price of $30 per box (a total of $450) to John. However on January 21, John delivers 15 boxes of peppermint scented shampoos. The goods are nonconforming because the shampoos are not what Bob has ordered. One option that Bob has is to cover or purchase reasonable replacement goods. Bob then decides to contact another supplier; Susan to order the Green Tea scented Shampoos and having it deliver on the same day. But Susan s hair supply ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Beer Simulation Root Beer Simulation From what I could see, there were not multiple roles to play in this simulation; instead, everyone logging into the simulation appears to play the same role, which was that of the distributor ordering products from the manufacturer and attempting to get them to the customers. This is an important point, because in many ways a distributor has greater flexibility than a retailer and a manufacturer, but, in other ways, faces far greater constraints than business people in other positions. The distributor s role is to get stuff from a manufacturer or other wholesaler and then distribute that stuff to resellers. From reading the instructions, it appears that there are actually different roles to play in the project, but I actually logged in from different computers to see if I would get to play another role in the game, but every time I ended up in the distributor role. One of the interesting things about the simulation was that one did not start from scratch in the project. Instead, the simulation is already running and is in a certain week of production and distribution when the student enters into the stimulation. This means that the student gets both the benefit and the burden of work done by prior students. In my scenario, this ended up having a very detrimental impact on me, because I began with a tremendous backlog of product that my retailers had ordered from me. I cannot tell if the person before me was placing small orders or if they were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

De Beauvoir s “Woman as Other” Woman as Other De Beauvoir s Woman as Other lays out an elaborate argument on gender inequality; using the term other to establish woman s alternate, lesser important role throughout her work, the author dissects and examines from its origin the female s secondary position in society in contrast to man. Indeed, from the beginning of recorded history, the duality of man, by definition, positions woman at the opposing end of the spectrum in relation to her male counterpart. Even by today s modern and accepting standards, the female suffers under the brand of being the sub standard half of the duality equation; compared to her male opponent, women are paid lower wages, have fewer and limited expression of rights, achieve lower ... Consequently, this has potential implications for the investment on the next generation; if parents view daughters as less likely to earn market wages or take paid work, they may be less inclined to invest in their education, which is woman s fastest route out of poverty. Also, in a job market dominated by men who monopolize the most important positions, the male faction generally retains the opportunities for success, for advancement or for higher wages. In fact, a recent class action lawsuit filed on behalf of 1.6 million women employed by Wal Mart stores alleges the retailer s sexual discrimination has led to women losing out on pay, promotions and other advances; women are paid less than men in every department of the store. According to the study named in the lawsuit, two thirds of Wal Mart s employees are female and less than one third of its managers are female Until recently, social development, by design has guaranteed women limited growth in the employment ranks by the standard curriculum path recommended for the female gender; typical high school and junior colleges required home economics and other domestic related courses to be completed by female students. That is how many people had lost their lives because of what they believed in and how they looked. Very few are able to talk about what happened to this day. Michael Herskovitz is a man who lived through the Holocaust to tell his story. Project Title:OPTICAL CHARACTER RECOGNITION USING ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORKS Abstract: The Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is becoming popular areas of research under pattern recognition and smart device applications. It requires the intelligence like human brain to recognize the various handwritten characters. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is used together the information required to recognize the characters adaptively. This paper presents a performance analysis of character recognition by Scale Invariant Feature (SIF) matrix with a Back Propagation Neural network (BPN). A GUI based OCR system is developed using Mat lab. The results are shown for the English alphabets and numeric. This is observed that the perceptron network converges faster, whereas the BPN can handle the complex script recognition when the training set is enriched. Keywords: Character recognition, back propagation neural network, scale invariant feature Introduction: Automatic character recognition is a well accepted area of research under pattern recognition. In handwritten character recognition, characters are written by different individuals that vary drastically from person to person due to variation in the writing style, its size and orientation of characters. This makes the system difficult to recognize the characters. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) helps to solve the problem of identifying handwritten characters in an automated manner. • 24. Franz Marc Deer Vivid colors, sharp lines and turns, contrast, variety, this painting has it all. It is beautiful and extremely unique, it is whimsical and creative, it is a piece of art that not many of us can understand. When I first looked at Deer in the Forest painted by Franz Marc in 1913, I saw bright colors and a couple deer, I saw trees and an owl. I saw a forest. I could see red, orange, yellow, green, and even shades of blue, there was brown and white, with hints of black and grey. The painting seems flat, there were no three dimensional objects or any painting techniques to make the picture pop out at you. The lines are extremely straight, however, there are some curved lines. Deer in the Forest is an abstract piece. Deer, the deer are the central focus of this painting. They are centrally placed and proportional in size to the rest of the objects in the painting. The contrast of colors is very different in my eyes, I am not used to seeing all of the colors of the rainbow in one picture, it is just odd to me, however, in this situation, I find it very pleasing. To me, the colors are extremely dull, he used the lowest variant of the colors and placed them in a way that made them somewhat pop at your eyes. The central theme of the book of Jonah is the God who loves in freedom. We should desire to understand, accept, and love God s sovereign grace, rather than oppose it or be resentful of it. The book of Jonahstresses the freedom and primacy of Godand God s initiative and grace toward humanity. Christians, applying the theology of Jonah to the person and work of Jesus, could claim that Jesus Christ is the freedom of God acting in love toward humanity Major Themes 1. Mercy God s compassion extends even beyond what we would like, even to those whom we ourselves show no mercy. God s Sovereignty His plan will be carried out and cannot be avoided. 3. Resentment The book is a vivid portrait of what bitterness and resentment against other people and against God s plan can do to a person s soul even the soul of God s own prophet. The book of Jonah demonstrates the scope of God s mercy as He receives other nations and the mediatory role Israel was to fulfill in its prophetic role to the nations. This focus is expressed in the two central themes of the book: the universality of God s mercy (and by implication, the universality of His judgment) and the mediatory role of Israel. Included in these two themes of God s freedom and resourcefulness are His undeviating effort to instill mercy, His right and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Is he pleased? Since the consistent OT association of YHWH s mercy is with life, not death, Jonah s inference is clearly as mistaken as it could be. So what is happening? And what is to be done about ... How Tinnitus Is Defined As A Symptom A Perception Of Sound Tinnitus is defined as a symptom a perception of sound which is not relative to any external stimulus where an individual perceives ringing, bussing and other sounds in varying durations of episodes which can be continuous, intermittent or pulsatile in a range of frequency and intensities which are often unable to be masked by external sounds. Tinnitusaffects approximately 5 15% of the western adult population with 1 2% of the population to a debilitating degree (Schlee et al,. 2011). Tinnitus can be separated into two categories, subjective tinnitus shows no objective sound and is only heard by the patient, Objective tinnitus is the less common type which can often be heard by an observer by stethoscope as it is caused by conductions such as turbulence and pulsation of muscle spasms in body tissues such as middle ear, Eustachian tube or soft palate. Currently, there is no FDA or EMA approved drugs on the market for this specific purpose. (Langguth and Elgoyhen, 2012) Many studies have been carried out to find a successful pharmacological treatment for tinnitus but had critical flaws in their design and methods; Some fail to adopt the correct analytical method to measure their outcomes which affect their external validity, four studies have been chosen each addressing different treatments using single or combination of drugs for analysis in their methodology and experimental design . Lucy was named as such after the Beatles song Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds , as it had been playing in the expedition camp. Using a famous song to name the skeleton increased public awareness of early humans and evolution studies. Donald Johanson s discovery allowed researchers a much better understanding of what australopithecus afarensis looked like. 2.(D) A specialist in the study of early civilization and early humans is known as a paleoanthropologist. This makes sense as the root of the word paleoanthropologist is the Greek palaeos (old/ancient), and anthrЕЌpos (man). As such, paleontologist is a person who studies ancient man, which would cover both early humans and early civilizations. 3.(B) The recognizable remains of a plant or animal are known as fossils. Mobile Payments Are Becoming An Upcoming New Trend Chan, Kendra 007192003 Kendraa.chan@gmail.com Bus 188 S01 Wireless Payment Wallet Share December 1, 2014 Mobile payments are becoming an upcoming new trend when it comes to technology. Mobile payments allow its users to pay for their daily needs with their phone without having to carry cash, let alone, their wallets around. However, the United States has been delaying the adaptation of mobile payments due to the fact that many different retailers have developed their own form of mobile payments as opposed to a universal approach. While many countries in Europe and Asia have successfully adopted mobile payments, United States still are behind in the trend. Introduction: As technology grows, so do the consumers. Consumers rely so much on easy shopping and simplified checking out possibilities that application developers have started to develop more mobile payment applications. These mobile payments are the technology of the future and yet the United States is still lagging behind in the rush to simplify shopping from a plastic card to a mobile app. However, with such developers from Apple and Google, there are applications where the mobile phone can stand as a wallet, but retailors do not necessarily choose a universal application to use. With Apple Pay and Google Wallet actively used, many retailors have opted to convert their merchandise to be payable with such applications . • 37. What Are The Characters In The Novel Paperboy 1, The first paragraph of the novel Paperboy talks mainly about the characters. The story talks about the stabbing so the character may have experienced some horrible things. Then it goes on by stating why the main character (Victor) has a disability to have a talk fluently. And lastly, it said that characternamed Mam has lain too by the main character and that might mean they don t have a good relationship with the main character. 2. If a character in the story was represented by an animal I would classify Victor as a snake and Ara T as a rat. Victor is a snake because people actually call him a snake. They call him that since he hisses whenever he s stuck on a word so he could sneak up on it. Ara T is a rat because he collects trash, has dirty baggy clothes, and goes around the streets. This portrays a rat because they re dirty and roam the streets. 3. There are many patterns in the book. One of the patterns I spotted was that he goes to knock on the door to collected weekly fees and at first he is always scared. But every time he talks to a neighbor they all give him warm welcomes and shows that they can understand and care for him. Another pattern I spotted was always he messes up in every house. He messed by saying a bad word to the neighbor, messes up by leaving a question and standing there for a minute, and he messed up by lying to Mrs.Rat. 4. • 41. Information Systems Security Review Information Systems Security Review Introduction Information systems have three parts which include hardware, software and the communications aspect. This view of Information systems is useful in applying industry standards for protection as well as prevention at all layers (Spagnoletti and Resca, 2008). Procedures will tell the personnel operating, or the administrators, how the products would ensure organizational information security. Information System implies information that requires protection from improper access, disclosure, or destruction (Spagnoletti and Resca, 2008). This is possible if the system ensures availability, confidentiality, as well as integrity of any data in an organization. Corporations, financial institutions, and governments have a lot of information on products, finances, research, and employees. This information usually resides in electronic media and may move from one point to another. Furthermore, with the advances in networks, transmission to other computers or access points within a physical location or across the globe is possible. Any breach of the information may have far reaching consequences such as bankruptcy, loss of competitive edge or lawsuits from customers or business partners (Mithas et al, 2011). Shifting Women s Views Although we see many shifts taking place in Britain between the Romantic and Victorian periods, such as the abolishment of slavery, the discoveries by astronomers and biologists, as well as this being at the highest point of development as a world power (1017). Throughout the Romantic and Victorian periods of British history, we also witness the emergence of an inner consciousness of women, which denounced those accepted by society at the time. This is illustrated through observing the parallels and contrasts within the writings of Harriet Martineau and Dorothy Wordsworth. The inner reflections of these women writers not only rejects the Angel in the House ideal placed upon women, which is found in The Paragon by , but also contradicts those illustrated in My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover. One can also see that the new emerging consciousness of women was a reflection of the social unrest during these time periods. During the Romantic period, England was experiencing the ordeal of change from a primarily agricultural society, where wealth and power had been concentrated in the landholding aristocracy, to a modern industrial nation (5). Because of these shifts, times were exceedingly difficult for country people, many were displaced from their small family farms, and women had fewer options to support themselves without husbands. We also see these realities reflected in the prose of Dorothy Wordworth s journals. There are many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From what I have learned thus far in Archaeology is that there is more to evolutionary theory than what one would have previously thought. Prior to entering Introduction to Archaeology I had almost no knowledge about hominin evolution. The only idea I had about hominin evolution is the single line of an ape that evolves into a human. For me personally I did not see the relevance of hominin evolution, I believed that evolution did happen, for example; Darwin s findings on the Galapagos Islands with how finch beaks change depending on the diet. It is important for Paleoanthropologists to continue their work because there could so much more evidence that has not been uncovered yet. Earlier in my paper I said that my previous understanding of hominin evolution was a straight line of an ape evolving into a human. However, that is not at all the case. The hominin evolution is similar to many branches coming off of each other into eventually what separates the earliest apes from the earliest humans. Branches do come off that have no leads to any other type hominin, which is where the possibility lies on whether, that branch went extinct, or the remaining branches have not been found yet. This is why the story of discovering Sediba was so significant. Sediba was a branch of hominid that had never discovered before it was a missing link from Australopithecus to Homo Ergaster. Without Paleoanthropologists continuing to search out new evidence, Sediba may have never been found. Unfortunately, those two reasons are caused by our human?s activities. This essay will analyse the cause of this problem and list two solutions on global warming. When the Europeans first made contact in North America, they were immediately in love with the views they encountered. Artists such as, John White had heard the tales of what Christopher Columbus had described during his time in North America, which led to them wanting to make their own discoveries. Everyone had their own opinions and views of the world but artists were able to capture the natural images and feeling they had through their paintings. The paintings of nature became a way for artists to express themselves visually and spiritually, while also expanding what people could see, read, and feel. Landscape paintings helped to grow communities and expand western movement. Google has produce multiple products over the years that were successful and some that lack success. The latest product their trying to liftoff is the Google Car. A driverless car that can rely on their sensors and software to drive themselves. The idea of a car that drives without a driver is by far interesting, but is it good to have a person life in the hands of a machine. Some people thinks this plan is a dead end: Ian Pearson, a futurologist, says What Google is proposing is obsolete, Pearson, who is also a fellow at the World Academy for Arts and Science, said. It doesn t exist yet, but there isn t any point in going through that phase. There are two Italian researchers are looking to release self driving pods. The pods, called Next, they re driverless boxes that will take you anywhere. But even the Next pods fall short of what Pearson foresees. • 56. Advertising Is A Major Part Of Our Culture Advertising is a major part of our culture/society; it surrounds us wherever we go. Yet a lot of people don t realize the underlying messages, and the stark differences between ads aimed at men and women. It s most certainly different when compared to the ads from the 1950 s, however when we think about how far we ve come as a society it s astounding that advertisers still play towards these generalizations/misconceptions about gender roles. In some cases they re reversing the roles to be inclusive and following the current trends, but at the same time there are ads that promote those same stereotypes that have been around for decades. They tell us as a society that no matter what form they come in, stereotypes will always be around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course the same company makes lotion ads for women as well. This ad showcases a woman getting dressed, presumably after putting lotion on, her eyes looking off at something/someone in the distance. It could have just shown her putting lotion on her legs, but it has to show her in her bra and underwear to say that women put lotion all over their bodies. It doesn t have to be hard work to maintain soft skin, but it should be maintained at all times, even when clothes are being put on, just in case they re going to be taken off later. Some psychologists say that the circuit from eyes to brain to genitals is a quicker trip for men than for women (187). If that s true then why is a woman s lotion ad displaying a woman in her undergarments? Perhaps in some way it s telling men to buy their partner this lotion because she ll have to be nearly naked to put it on. Even when an ad is geared towards women, it still plays on the needs/desires of men. As John Berger states; Men act and women appear (208). That is the case in most ads, but in each ad the man and woman are in a state of movement, however there are major differences. This Nivea ad for men, and several others, only shows the face as if that s the only place that they need to put lotion. Whereas the ad geared towards women shows her in a state of getting dressed (in all white ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
