Essay on Elizabeth
Elizabeth I
Were Queen Elizabeth I and Catherine the Great effective rulers? Were their reign s characterized
as good or not so well? Disregarding the opinion of those who reigned concurrently or historians
today, these two ruled their country in a time of turmoil and uncertainty! The world and the people
within it were undergoing a major transition. New lands were being discovered as well as major role
playing continents and countries were changing status. Some losing power while others gained it.
Queen Elizabeth I and Catherine the Great ruled their country to the extent in which they were able
and their subjects allowed them to. Queen Elizabeth I of England was a remarkable ruler. ... Show

In fact, The greatest achievement in English history, the breaking the bonds of Rome , and the
establishment of spiritual independence, was completed without bloodshed under Elizabeth s
auspices, and Elizabeth may have the glory of the work (Time.com, 2). The people of England
were in no need of a government that was more concerned about it more than it was for the people.
Elizabeth was Queen but she established good ties with parliament. England did not need the rule
of a monarchy that controlled strictly, took the people s wealth, and taxed. By taxing the people
parliament could control the people (Funk amp; Wagnalls vol. 9, 193). However, this was the exact
opposite of what Queen Elizabeth did. She was wealthy, however, she allowed the people of
England to have the opportunity to gain wealth. Without alienating public opinion, Queen Elizabeth
gained what she wanted. Queen Elizabeth s policies coincided with the interests of the people.
Queen Elizabeth was active in foreign policy. The people of England, her subjects, began to see
new materials due to her intervention in foreign policy. Furthermore, they began to obtain wealth.
Elizabeth began trade with India and granted a charter to the English East India Company
(Time.com, 2). This opened the path for trade as well as the ideas for others to strive to achieve
goals, and to set

Given To Fly Eddie Vedder Meaning
In 1991 when Eddie Vedder wrote and performed his album Ten, he knew he was competing with
the big time grunge band; Nirvana. Once it hit the stage it was clear there was no competition.
Eddie s deep, emotional messages throughout this album, his shaky, raspy voice that transfers from
screaming lyrics to soft, poetic like speaking. All tied together with his hard to hate persona that
can be heard throughout this album and every album made by Eddie Vedder.
In the song Given To Fly Eddie says He got up out of there, ran for hundreds of miles / He made
it to the ocean, had a smoke in a tree / The wind rose up, set him down on his knee. In this verse
Eddie is describing his life and how he needs to get away from it all and just have a peaceful
break, alone. Vedder likes to use his life in third person in most of his songs to make his message
more distant, and almost more easily relatable. The song Given To Fly is actually a second or a
reference to the song Going to California By Led Zeppelin and how just leaving might help out
more than anything. Throughout the album there are several different songs with an abundance
of different meanings. The song, Alive, has one of the deepest messages that is tied to his life
personally. The song is about a boy that finds out that who he thought was his father, is actually
his stepfather and his real father is dead. Eddie said the song is a work of fiction based on reality
(SK) . When Vedder was born his mom had left his father and

Social Class Theory And Political Sociology
Power is the The ability of individuals or groups to make there own concerns and interestes
count, even when others resist . ( Anthony Giddens 2001 ). There are three major theoretical
frameworks in political sociology pluralist, elite theory, and social class perspectives. Classic
pluralist see power held by a variety of groups in society; some of which are more powerful than
others. The diverse and competing interests of different groups is the basis for a democratic
equilibrium. These groups compete with each other to maximise their influence. No one group
or class is able to dominate all other groups because of checks and balances built into a
democratic system. Elite theory involves the idea that rather than there being a simple plurality
of competing groups in society, there are instead a series of competing elites and powerful
groups who are able to impose their will and dominate the rest of society. social class theory is
based off the ideas of Karl Marx. These frameworks have set the foundation for most perspectives
in political sociology.
There are two main sociological perspectives. The Functionalist Perspective, Symbolic
Interactionism Perspective and the Conflict Perspective. Functionalism presents society as a
machine of interconnected parts that work together in unison to maintain a state of economic
balance and social equilibrium for the whole. for example the family, schools, government and
religion are social institutions that contribute to

The Parkinson s Disease Foundation
Introduction: The Parkinson s Disease Foundation states that this disease is a chronic and
progressive movement disorder. In another words, the disease typically worsens over time.
Nearly one million people in the United States live with Parkinson s disease today (Parkinson s
Disease Foundation: What is Parkinson s Disease, 2016). The cause of this disease is still being
researched and tested, but as of now it is still unknown and has no cure. Since there is no cure,
things like medications, treatments, and surgery are given to prolong and stabilize a person with
the disease. Parkinson s is when the vital nerve cell called a neurondies. This happens in the part of
the brain; substantia nigra, the dying cells still provide dopaminewhich is a chemical that sends
messages to the brain to control body movements and coordination. As the disease increases and
gets more severe, the amount of dopamine produced decreases which is when a person typically
relies on medications to help control movements and their coordination. Symptoms of this disease
vary from person to person, the most common ones associated with it are tremors of hands, face,
jaw, legs, and arms, slowness of movement, stiffness of limbs, and impaired balance/coordination.
Parkinson s is a very interesting disease because just like there is no set cure or cause, there is no
one way diagnosis for the disease as well. However, doctors take into consideration the many
symptoms that are typically present in someone

Research Paper On The Trinity
How does the belief in the Trinity (God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) affect Christian Worship,
Christian living, and Christian witness?
The Trinity is a doctrine that has and will continue to bring much controversy to the Christian faith.
Yet it is important to understand that a practical approach to this topic can be very important.
Having a full understanding of the Trinity is vital to the life of a Christian. The distinct, yet
interwoven aspects of God s character will affect every aspect of a believer s life.
It is important to begin by stating that there are many different doctrinal views of the Trinity.
However I believe that the doctrine of Trinity defines one God who is eternally existent as three
distinct Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These definitions express three crucial truths: (1) The
Father, Son, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a response to the realization of who we are as compared to who God is. When we do this
however it is important to understand that God has provided a model for us in our worship.
Because he is in community our worship should be done in a communal sense. We need to
depend on one another to help us comprehend the majesty and love of God and respond in true
worship as a community (Eph. 3:14 21). (Beyond Opinion 246) It appears that while we are to
worship the Son and the Holy Spirit, we are to primarily focus our attention upon the Father
because they give glory to the Father (John 16:14 15: 17:4 5). A great verse that brings this idea
into focus is Ephesians 2:18: Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit
because of what Christ has done for us. Understanding this allows us to have a proper focus on
how we are to Worship God. An incorrect interpretation of scripture can lead to an overemphasis
upon one of the members of the trinity which can be dangerous to the spiritual development of a
believer and

A Streetcar Named Desire Stella And Blanche Comparison
People often have a certain perspective on individuals based on a certain persona or act one puts
on to have a reputation. In A Streetcar Named Desire two characters, Blanch and Stanley, both
feel they have a very specific image to uphold. They feel this is needed in order to be respected
by the other characters in the book. People often have experiences that shape their future. These
experiences can be for better or worse. They can cause someone to create an alternate image of
themselves just to appear like nothing is wrong. One person that Blanche puts an act around is her
sister Stella. Stella and Blanche have grown up together, so they have obviously spent time with
each other. The reader clearly sees this during her visit with... Show more content on

But don t you look at me, Stella, no, no, no, not till later, not till I ve bathed and rested! And turn
that over light off! This shows that from the moment Blanche saw her sister, she was hiding her
appearance from Stella. This is just one of the things Blanch does to try to keep her appearance
around Stella. Blanche wants her sister to think of her as a respectable member of the
community, someone who has grown up and changed her past. Blanche does this by never
allowing her sister to see her in full light. Another thing Blanche does is lie to her sister about
situations or habits she has acquired. For example, Blanche has developed a drinking problem,
but says the exact opposite to her sister, Now don t get worried, your sister hasn t turned into a
drunkard, she s just all shaken up hot and tired and dirty . Stella has more than likely not seen
her sister in a while. During this time frame, Blanch has aged considerably. Blanche does not
want her sister to think of her as someone older or as someone she may have to take care of one
day. Because of this, Blanche is acting as if she has changed her ways when in reality she has
only caused more harm to herself. Blanche does not only put on an act for Stella but also for
Mitch. He is a character who does not

Essay on Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Disaster
The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Disaster It is a silent enemy, it has no odor, no smell, no
shape, yet it is one of man s deadliest foes. Radiation is not something most people face on a
daily basis, but for the town of Prypiat in the Ukraine it is a barren wasteland because of it. The
Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster was the worst nuclear catastrophe to have ever occurred
and, is a perfect example of what can happen when the blind and unmasked furry of atomic power
is left unharnessed. The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant is near the town of Prypiat, Ukraine, 18
km northwest of the city of Chernobyl, 16 km from the border of Ukraine and Belarus, and about

Therefore, the test program was not formally coordinated with either the chief designer of the
reactor, nor with the scientific manager. Instead, it was approved only by the director of the plant.
According to the test parameters, at the start of the experiment, the thermal output of the reactor
should have been no lower than 700 MW. If the conditions of the reactor had been as planned, the
test almost certainly would have proceeded safely. The eventual disaster resulted from attempts to
boost the reactor output once the experiment had started, inconsistent with the approved
procedure. (Marples 39 43) The Chernobyl power plant had been in operation for two years
without the capability to ride through the first 60 75 seconds of a total loss of electric power. The
station managers wished to correct this at the first opportunity. This may explain why they
continued the test, even when serious problems arose, and why the requisite approval for the test
was not sought from the Soviet nuclear oversight regulator. (Gale 22 25) At 1:23:04 a.m. the
experiment began, the steam to the turbines was shut off, and a run down of the turbine generator
began, together with the four Main Circulating Pumps (MCP). The diesel generator started and
sequentially picked up loads, which was complete by 01:23:43; during this period the power for
these four MCPs was supplied by the coasting down turbine generator. As the momentum

Congenital Central Hypoventilation and Central Alveolar...
Congenital Central Hypoventilation Central Alveolar Hypoventilation Syndromes Introduction
Sleep can be simply defined as a reversible behavioral state of perceptual disengagement from and
unresponsiveness to the environment (Kryger, Roth Dement). As far as the sleeping disorders are
concerned, they involve the difficulties that are associated to sleeping. When an individual has
difficulty in falling or staying asleep, falling asleep at wrong times, falling asleep unnecessarily, or
shows other abnormal sleep behaviors, he/she is said to have a sleep disorder. Congenital Central
Hypoventilation Syndrome The Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome or CCHS is
categorized as a parasomnia. Such sleep disorders are the symptoms of central nervous system
activation that are generally transmitted through skeletal muscle or autonomic nervous system
channels ( The International Classification of Sleep Disorders, Revised: Diagnostic and Coding
Manual 19). CCHS is an uncommon syndrome that is mostly present from the time of birth. It is
widely defined as the malfunctioning of automatic control of breathing. The affected individuals
have missing or insignificant ventilatory sensitivity to hypercapnia and hypoxaemia during sleep
and wakefulness (Chen, and Keens 182). This is the reason why patients with CCHS experience
progressive hypercapnia and hypoxaemia during sleep (Chen, and Keens 182). Hypoventilation

Comparison Of Zoroastrianism And Buddhism
Zoroastrianism and Buddhism, like many other world religions, attempted to answer the big
questions that were being asked in Southwest Asia and India in the Axial Age (700 B.C.E 500
B.C.E) and establish social order. Social order, in this sense, refers to a set of customs and values
that create well behaved citizens and allow a society to exist safely and harmoniously. While both
religions tried to make sense of suffering and provide guidance to people on how to live their lives,
each differs tremendously in their fundamental beliefs. Zoroaster, the founder of Zoroastrianism,
examined human suffering with the idea of two contrasting forces, Good, referred to as Ahura
Mazda and Evil, Ahriman, each represented by light and darkness. Ahriman

Credit Cards And The Best Habits For Effective Credit Card
Credit cards have become an integral part of our lives. We rely them for enjoying small pleasures
and while making big purchases.
But as helpful as credit cards can be, using them the wrong way can lead to a loss of credit score
and even get you into debt. Therefore, it is important that you know how to make the most of your
credit cards.
Here are some of the best habits for effective credit card use.
Find the Right Card
Not all credit cards are alike and you should carefully consider your options before you sign up with
a specific card. It s a good idea to compare different credit card offers through websites such as This
Is Money, for instance.
Furthermore, if you ve found a card for yourself, make sure you understand the terms and
conditions before you sign up. Credit card agencies are good at telling you all the positives of the
specific card, so you need to be careful and read the fine print as well.
If you don t understand the terms and conditions, ask the card supplier to explain them to you. If
they can t do this properly, then you are probably better off with someone else anyway!
Pay Your Bills on Time
From the first day that you start using the card, the most important thing is to keep up to date with
the bill payment dates. If you miss one date, it s easy to start missing them even more frequently.
The key is to build a habit that guarantees you are always on time. Smartphone reminders might be
a good option to keep in mind especially if you often

Essay on the Power of Language in The Plague
The Power of Language in The Plague
In his novel The Plague, Albert Camus presents a pseudo historical documentary of a plague that
confines and controls the citizens of Oran within their city gates. The plague possesses the power
of life and death over the people, as it determines which citizens will face their death or those who
work to stop death. These latter men, personified by the character s of Rieux, Grand, and Tarrau,
each struggle endlessly to master the plague s power over their lives, even with the realization they
may never succeed. For Camus, this idea of impossible struggle against an unseen power resonates
throughout the novel and reoccurs in another plague which these men must contend the limits of

47). Here Camus presents the power of certain words like syndrome as their use suggests or
outlines a certain course of action for the doctors. Rieux recognizes this power and initially rejects
the use of syndrome as it would mean almost immediate implications upon his profession as a
doctor. Camus furthers this when Rieux considers the use of the word plague . Rieux hesitates,
knowing that this word possesses certain implications that will change the lives of all Oran s
citizens through quarantine. Thus for Rieux, It s not the question of the term I use; it s a question
of time (P.47). In this description Rieux establishes that the real issue of using the term plague
concerns whether the time is right to unleash the word s power to change both their careers and the
townspeople s lives. Through Rieux s hesitation in stating these terms, Camus demonstrates how
language, like plague, can have the power of life or death over people like Rieux.
However, Rieux also realizes that he will never master or control this power, no matter how
carefully he chooses his words. Rieux elaborates upon this in his descriptions of the letters and
telegrams he writes as ultimately resulting in the living words, into which we had as it were
transfused our heart s blood, were drained of any meaning (p.63). Here Camus s beautiful metaphor
illustrates Camus conception of language as a living entity that is both

A Brief Synopsis Of The Emerging Ethanol Fuel Industry
A brief synopsis of the Emerging Ethanol Fuel Industry
Ethyl alcohol or grain alcohol, commonly known as Ethanol (commonly seen as E 85 at the gas
pumps) has a long history in the United States. Henry Ford considered it the fuel of choice. [1]
In fact, his very first automobile, built in 1896, ran solely on ethanol. He said, There is enough
alcohol in one year s yield of an acre of potatoes to drive the machinery necessary to cultivate the
fields for a hundred years. But it s use in that capacity on a commercial scale was never realized
due to the abundant resources and soon to arrive efficient production processes of petroleum
products. However, with the highly volatile petroleum markets, mounting environmental concerns
and the increase of gasoline fuel prices it is being reconsidered. To where in 2013, ethanol use had
displaced as much as 462 million barrels of imported oil, reducing the dependence on foreign oil by
6 percent. [2]
From an Economical View
In the last 10 years alone gasoline fuel prices have doubled, from just over $1.59 a gallon in 2004
to $2.59 a gallon, as of December 2014. But the unstable fluctuations in the market, along with the
nation trying to unshackle itself from the dependence of foreign petroleum, along with the added
fear that the world has reached or is on the verge of reaching peak oil has spurred renewed interest
within the alternative fuel industry as a whole, with the primary focus focused on ethanol. [3] On
the economic front,

From having good grades, to studying for the ACT, in addition to trying to fit into the social
aspect in high school a teens life has never been more hard. And the invention of the smartphone
has only added to the amount of stress that a teen has to deal with. The smartphone has created an
environment in which adolescents are always connected with those they go to highschool with,
through the use of social media. For example if a bully were to be picking on a student at school
the student could not just go home and forget about the incident, but now the bully has the ability
to abuse that student at any point he/she desires. These types of incidents are creating a new wave
of problems for adolescents and their parents, Nojiri Matthew interviewed Rick Wolf (assistant
superintendent at Mifflin School district) explaining The increase in social media use has added
another element when identifying and caring for kids dealing with anxiety, depression, eating
disorders, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder and other mental health disorders, Wolf said

Miscellaneous Considerations
What else should you know about cruise ships? Here are some thoughts:
* A ship s registry usually has nothing to do with where the line is headquartered. Financial,
legal, labor, and routing concerns tend to dictate the shup s registry. The name of the country
where the ship is registered is usually painted on the exterior of the vessel s stern and the ship
flies that country s flag.(This is called flag of convenience.) * On some ships smoking is
permitted almost everywhere onboard. On most its limited to certain officially designated
places. One or two ships are smoke free. * Where do ships go when they retire ? Some are turned
into scraped metal(mostly in India). Others are parked at ports(especially in Greece and in
Bahamas), with the hope that someone will buy, refurbish, and return them to active cruising. *

Uncle Tom s Cabin, by Harriet Beecher Stowe
Uncle Tom s Cabin has been explained as being a history of harmful acts towards Blacks in
America for a period of a hundred and thirty years (Stowe, Nineteenth ). 51).The book Uncle Tom
s Cabin was one of History s favorite books (Stowe, Nineteenth 1). It talks about how Tom would
do anything for the white man (Stowe, Uncle 1). The southerners did not give Harriet Beecher
Stoweand credit for writing the book (Piacentino 1). Uncle Tom showed a lot of Christianity in
this book, but the master showed no Christianity at all (Stowe, Uncle 1). Among the slave owners
they used racial stereo types among the blacks and the women (Piacentino 1). The women in this
book were treated badly (Foster 1). Some women did not like the way the slave... Show more

(HIllegass 1). He was in his early fifties at the time (Hillegass 1). He would always play tricks with
his masters (Tanner 72). His cabin showed how Christians acted towards each other compared to
Chloe s cabin (Stowe, Uncle 10). Topsy, she was not the main character of this story, but played an
important part (Hillegass 10). She was about eight years old and she was a slave of St. Clare

Competitive Gaming
You are presenting a seminar for new marketers on the topic of competitive gaming. Be sure to
discuss positive sum, negative sum, and zero sum games. Provide clear cut examples for each.
Discuss the ethics of the gaming. Research and share an example of a recent price war and how
it turned out. Zero sum, positive sum, and negative sum are terms that refer to the outcome of a
dispute and all represent reward of compensation. The sector of professionals that I am
addressing in this group is businessmen and the circumstance will be the frequently encountered
one of negotiation where each tries to procure something from the dynamic. Zero sum, positive
sum, and negative sum can be also interpreted in more common ways as win win, win lose, and
lose lose situations. zero sum situation This is the win lose situation where it is impossible for
one party to advance its position without the other suffering a corresponding loss. This is called a
distributive bargaining situation where, for instance, money is being reallocated between
departments. The more money one department gets, the less the other will receive. Another
scenario is where one person will gain the job at the other s expense (only one will receive the
position). Positive sum This is where the total of winnings and losses is more than zero. This
happens when the size of the pie was somehow enlarged and there is more wealth to distribute (let s
say between the two departments) than there was originally, or

Digital Dark Age Essays
Digital Dark Age For thousands of years, we humans have kept records. We have carved on walls
and rocks, carved on tablets and stones, and written on leaves. Many of these records have
survived to this day; as we have used them to read, learn about, and understand our history and
ancestors. The invention of printing made writing records much easier and faster. Information that
changed the world had been printed on paper, and some of this information too survived till this
day. In the 20th century, we began keeping records and saving information in a different way:
technological, computerized and digital format. This way of keeping information included media
such as pictures or films. Henceforth, different programs have been made and... Show more content

Some programs made to read digital information no longer run. Nowadays, you rarely find drives
that read 8 floppy disks or floppy disks from 2000. If a program that reads a certain type of
information saving device is no longer available, the information on that device may disappear
forever. Some family information may be lost, information held sacred by the family members. And
not only such information, but also data from pivotal scientific research, theories and discoveries
may be lost too.
Many people believe that a digital dark age has already begun. These observations about the present
times form the basis for this conclusion:
Enormous amounts of digital information are already lost forever. Digital historycannot be
recreated by individuals and organizations cannot recreate a digital historybecause it was not
archived or managed properly or it resides in formats that cannot beaccessed because the
information is on out dated word processor files.
Information technologies are essentially obsolete every 18 months.
There is a proliferation of document and media formats, each one potentially carrying their own
hardware and software dependencies (Kuny).
Before this digital form of a dark age takes over, what must be done to preserve our digital
information and records and keep them from disappearing? Foremost, we need to boost

Domestic Violence Seminar
On Thursday night I went to the Shatter the Silence, Stop the Violence seminar by the Sexual
Assault and Violence Education (SAVE) Committee. During the seminar I learned about several
parts of dating and domestic violence, as well as healthy, unhealthy, and abusive relationships. I was
familiar with many of these topics, but hadn t gone so far in depth with them before.
First of all, dating violence and domestic violence are completely different things. Dating violence
is when physical violence is used against or between one s significant other and oneself.
Meanwhile, domestic violence is violence against or between someone one lives with and
oneself. For example, dating violence is happening if one s boyfriend or girlfriend were to slap
one s face without consent. Domestic violence can occur between parents and children, husbands
and wives, or even roommates. So if I were to slap my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone had to assess the same statements, and circle either comfortable or not comfortable. Just
about every response was divided between comfortable and not comfortable, except for your partner

different people are comfortable or uncomfortable with different things, depending on how they
were raised and past dating experience. Thus, the lists of signs of healthy and unhealthy
relationships will not be completely accurate for different relationships.
I haven t had great experiences dating. While I won t go into details here, I feel I tend to be more
sensitive in my answers to the statements about what I am comfortable with in a relationship. Even
with that past relationship being done for over a year now, it still makes it so I m not interested in
dating anyone, and I m not willing to put up with just about anything in a hypothetical

Return Of Martin Guerre Analysis
Throughout the book of The Return of Martin Guerre, Davis makes several claims and
accusation against Bertrande that she clearly cannot back up with history facts. Her assumption
that Bertrande knew that Arnaud du Tilh was not her husband the entire time and that either by
explicit or trait agreement, she helped him become her husband (Davis, 44) cannot be proved
with historical content. Davis hypotheses is based off of her invention, which is a product of her
assertions and reasoning of her perception based off of her research. Although her perception is
plausible, there is no hard evidence to back up her claim. Finlay s response to Davis book clearly
addresses several concerns he finds with Davis invention. Finlay signifies his perception of Davis s
book by claiming that she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Davis does not connect her assumptions to accurate history data and opposes Coras s perspective
of the trial. Therefore, Finlay s argument against Davis perspective is more convincing, because he
does not speculate or back up his points with non historical context, unlike Davis who uses
convoluted reasoning and unsubstantiated assertions to support her thesis. The absence of the trial
records makes Davis depend on Coras s account, which remains the best source for the story of
Martin Guerre (Finlay, 556) primarily, because Coras witnessed the scandal making him a primary
source. Davis reinterprets Coras s

A Catalyst For Evil In Lord Of The Flies
A Catalyst for Evil in Lord of the Flies Over time, people can grow twisted and evil through their
experiences. Evil is knowing you are doing wrong or wanting to do something wrongful. In Lord
of the Flies, the characters convey Philip Zimbardo s theory of anonymity, conformity, and
boredom by demonstrating how those three theories can be a catalyst for evil. Philip Zimbardo is
a psychologist who once was the president of American Psychological Association. Anonymity is
the first catalyst for evil in Philip Zimbardo s theory that is demonstrated by the school boys in
Lord of the Flies. These facts can be found in Lord of the Flies and Finding Hope in Knowing the
Universal Capacity for Evil. When people act anonymously, it allows them to behave differently
than they would normally, because no one knows their true identity. Zimbardo says, When someone

The kids in Lord of the Flies and the police force in Finding Hope in Knowing the Universal
Capacity for Evil both provide evidence of the evil of boredom. Evil began with Jack being
bored with just hunting and keeping the fire going, so he tried to change things up. When he
did, he caused issues such as Piggy s death. Right after the death he screamed at Ralph I m Chief
he also said There isn t a tribe for you anymore! The conch is gone (Golding 181). Jack meaning
behind this is there is no order left. In the Finding Hope in Knowing the Universal Capacity for
Evil the University of Stanford did a risky experiment that Philip described. Zimbardo says,
Boredom is a powerful motive for evil (Dreifus). He even went on to describe some of the evil
acts the guards did to the prisoners: starving them, not allowing them to sleep, dragging their
naked bodies in the yard, and more. The biggest thing is that the prisoners were heavily beaten
(Dreifus). Beating people is an evil thing, so in conclusion, boredom can grow to be an evil

According to Ibn NadД«m s and Niбє“ДЃm al Mulk s accounts, al HallДЃj was the first dДЃКїД«

the Ismaili daКїwa in Persia. GhiyДЃth fled to Khurasan around the end of the third/ninth and the

Explain Why Pope Urban Ll Called for a Crusade Essay
In 1095, at the Council of Clermont, Pope Urban ll made a powerful and well planned speech.
His message was clear and precise, go to the holy land in Jerusalem and claim back what is
rightfully yours or die trying, and in return remission of all your sins with the assurance of the
imperishable glory of the kingdom of heaven . He was addressing Christians from all over France
calling for a Crusade in the name of God and as many would argue, abusing his authority and status
he received from the Catholic Church. What occurred during the First Crusadeis well known to
many, whereas the reason behind PopeUrban ll calling the Crusade is a highly debated and
contradicting issue.

Finally, an additional reason for Urban s calling for a so called Crusade was that he felt the lands
of Christ needed to be reclaimed and in the control of Christianity not in the hands of infidels .
Jerusalem is at the centre of the Christian faith and is the religions birth place. It is the land in
which Jesus was crucified and then, as Christians believe, bought back to life in a miracle event.
Urban said in his speech, wrest that land from the wicked race, that land which the scripture says
floweth with milk and honey and was given by god to the children of Israel . By these few words
we can understand why Urban felt so strongly that it the land of Christians and why he ordered
for it to be reclaimed, even if it mean death. At the time of Urban s speech Jerusalam was under
the rule of Muslim, who also have a strong attachment with the land as it is the place where the
holy prophet descended to heaven. Urban however believed that it belonged to the Christians and
therefore ordered it to be reclaimed in the name of god .
Pope Urban ll called for a Crusade at the Council of Clermont to claim back what he believed
rightfully belonged to the Christians and unite the Catholic and Greek Orthodox churches. Through

Racial Disparities Within Nursing Home ( Nh ) Care Quality...
I.Introduction
There exist significant racial disparities in nursing home (NH) care quality. Although some
improvements have been made in recent years, Blacks are still more likely to receive
suboptimal care in this setting, compared to Whites (1). Blacks are also more likely to be
admitted to poorer quality NH s than Whites (2). There also tend to be racial disparities in
psychosocial well being among NH residents, as determined by lower social engagement among
Blacks versus Whites (3). These findings are particularly alarming provided that the proportion of
Blacks aged 65 and older who live in NH s has increased dramatically, while the number of Whites
in NH s has declined (4).
Multiple factors contribute to the disparities between Blacks and Whites in NH care quality. One
such factor is the lack of regulatory practices to curb racial discrimination in this setting. This paper
will propose a policy that aims to enforce and penalize Center for Medicare and Medicaid
Services (CMS) funded NH s that are in violation of current anti discriminatory laws. The proposed
policy would be passed and implemented at the federal government level, however it would also
require cooperation from public, state agencies.
II.Analysis of the Problem
When Title VI of the Civil Rights Act prohibited segregation in 1964, NH s were not prioritized
for enforcement of desegregation (1). NH s were not inspected for civil rights violations, nor were
they required to provide information on the

Figurative Language In Esperanza Rising
In the novel, Esperanza Rising the author, Pam Munoz Ryan, masterfully uses figurative language
to convey the rich story of her own heritage as a Mexican American. The author uses several
similes and metaphors to convey the deeper meaning of her story. However, the author s use of a
blanket image becomes particularly important as she uses it as an extended metaphor throughout
the story. The first time that blankets are brought into the story, grandmother teaches Esperanza to
crochet and she says that her love and good wishes will be in the blanket forever. Later, Abuelita
compares the stitches in the blanket to mountains and valleys meaning the ups and down of life.

The Effects of the Chernobyl Accident on International Actions Concerning Nuclear Power
Early in the morning of April 27, 1986, the world experienced its largest nuclear disaster ever
(Gould 40). While violating safety protocol during a test, Reactor 4 at the Chernobyl power plant
was placed in a severely unstable state, and in a matter of seconds the reactor output shot up to 120
times the rated output (Flavin 8). The resulting steam explosion tossed aside the reactor s 1,000 ton
concrete covering and released radioactive particles up to one and a half miles into the sky (Gould
38). The explosion and resulting fires caused 31 immediate deaths and over a thousand injuries,
including radiation poisoning (Flavin 5). After the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although radioactivity was at first just at the surface, later studies showed that these radioactive
elements were absorbed by the soil and that their effects would be long lasting (Gould 69).
Within a short amount of time animals consumed these radioactive plants, and these particles
worked their way up the food chain. Soon, not only berry crops in Austria had to be discarded,
but also milk supplies in Italy (68, 69). More than twenty European nations received enough
fallout to require food restrictions, and 100 million people altered their diets in the ensuing
months (Flavin 6, 16). Adding to this paranoia was the fact that even the experts had little
knowledge of what was happening. Most nations were unprepared, and many implemented
differing safety guidelines for food (15). Some governments outright lied to quell the public s
fear (Gould 70). In the end, millions of people were exposed to unhealthy doses of radiation, and
estimates for future deaths from cancer caused by this exposure range as high as one million, with
half being fatal (Flavin 18). These are clearly examples of the externalities of a nuclear disaster.
The public effects of the Chernobyl disaster were far reaching. First of all, it negatively influenced
a number of counties domestic opinions regarding nuclear programs. Although nuclear protests
were common in the 1970s, by 1986 it had dropped from public scrutiny to the point

Marijuana Legalization
The legality of cannabis varies from country to country. Possession of cannabis is illegal in most
countries and has been since the beginning of widespread cannabis prohibition in the late 1930s.
However, possession of the drug in small quantities had been decriminalized in many countries and
sub national entities in several parts of the world. Furthermore, possession is legal or effectively
legal in the Netherlands, Uruguay, and in the US states of Colorado, Oregon, Alaska and
Washington as the federal government has indicated that it will not attempt to block enactment of
legalization in those states. The federal district of Washington D.C. legalized cannabisfor
possession and use in 2015 but was blocked by a Congressional rider from instituting commercial
sales and taxation. Cannabis is also legal in some U.S cities such as Portland and South Portland,
both of which are in Mane. And the United States Department of Justice is allowing all recognized
Indian Reservations to regulate the legalization of cannabis, and the laws are allowed to be
different from Federal and state law. On 10 December 2013, Uruguay became the first nation in the
world to legalize the sale, cultivation, and distribution of cannabis.
The medicinal use of cannabis is legal in a little bit of countries, including Canada, the Czech
Republic and Israel. The federal law in the United States no longer has a ban on the use of medical

moment, I felt inspired and grateful that one extremely wealthy man had left such a glorious place

before 1700 is housed.
The first piece of art I focused on was the painting titled Allegory of Fortune by Dosso Dossi.
Dosso painted it around 1530 in Italy. The painting depicts a man and a woman, the man is
sitting with a robe over his lap and the woman is sitting with her breasts exposed and her body
positioned such that you can t see full frontal nudity. The woman represents fortune, and she is

denotes that her favors are fleeting. The man in the painting represents chance. He is looking

painting, civic lotteries were becoming popular in Italy. It is believed that the painting s probable
patron was Isabella d Este, Marchioness of Mantua. Isabella s emblem included a bundle of lots,
signifying her personal experience with varying fortunes. One interesting fact about this painting is
that it was found and purchased for a modest sum at a flea market. The seven foot painting was

Parent To Child Relationships In Romeo And Juliet
Today s parent to child relationships have become extremely fragile, but why? Communication
between parents and their children plays a key role in relationships in literature, as well as real

a very long feud, the Montagues and the Capulets. When Juliet, a Capulet, and Romeo, a

My investigation focus was to analyse the community pattern within the Rocky Shore Siren s Rock
. I investigated the distribution of the Red Sea Anemone (Actinia tenebrosa) and the Grey side
gilled Sea Slug (Pleurobranchaea maculata) on the slopes of the rocks and also in the rock pools by
looking at both the abiotic and biotic factors of their environment. The community pattern found on
the rocks is a zonation pattern this is because there are distinct horizontal bands of organisms from
the low to high tide. The Rocky Shore habitat is mainly rocks and rock pools. The two species I
have chosen that show an interrelationship in this community are the Sea Slug (Pleurobranchaea
maculata) and the Sea Anenome (Actinia tenebrosa). Primary Organism... Show more content on

Gause s competitive exclusion principle states that no two species with identical niches can co
exist for long in the same place. This is because they both have similar needs, and one would out
compete the other for space and food. Abiotic Environment An abiotic environmental factor
affecting the organisms in the rocky shore is the temperature, this is because the temperature of
the water affects the amount of dissolved oxygen the water can hold. Aquatic organisms are
dependent on dissolved oxygen for their survival in this ecosystem. Another abiotic factor is tidal
movement, when both organisms are not in water, they are exposed to prolonged periods of aerial
exposure, this increases the risk of desiccation for the sea slug and sea anemone. Another abiotic
factor is the weather conditions, if the organism is in the mid tidal zone and it is not saturated in
water, it could be come

Review Of Descartes Meditations On First Philosophy
Descartes s conception of the self and how the self relates to the body started with how
Descartes viewed the self in Meditations on First Philosophy. Descartes wanted to start a new
foundation with philosophy and so he used reason to find truths that were unboubtful. Since
sense data can deceive you, Descartes could not trust things he saw, heard, or felt. I have noticed
that the sense are sometimes deceptive; and it is a mark of prudence never to place our
complete trust in those who have deceived us even once (Descartes, 1993, p.14). However, he
realized it was possible to overcome senses due to reason. A person can doubt what they see, since
it could be a dream or an insane state, but person s existence is undoubtful because it is self evident.

John Cage Song Books
John Cage was born in 1912 in Los Angeles. His father was an inventor, and his mother worked as
a journalist for the LA Times. Cage was first introduced to the piano musicof the 19th century by
his aunt; he began taking piano lessons in fourth grade. By the time he graduated from high
school, he was convinced that he wanted to be a writer, and in 1928 Cage became a theology
major in college. However, two years after he decided that going to Europe would be more
beneficial for his future writings than studying at school was. He spent a couple years in Europe,
studying various forms of art. In 1931 he came back to California, and started earning money by
teaching private lessons on contemporary art.
In 1933 began to focus on music rather than on visual art, and moved to New York, and later to
California (UCLA), to study with Schoenberg. In Cage s autobiography, he mentions:
When I asked Schoenberg to teach me, he said, You probably can t afford my price. I said, Don t
mention it; I don t have any money. He said, Will you devote your life to music? This time I said
Yes. He said he would teach me free of charge. I gave up painting and concentrated on music.
Schoenberg prided himself in daunting his students:
I consider it as one of my merits that I did not encourage composing... [in that I treated] hundreds of
pupils in a manner that showed I did not think too much of

The coup in Chile on September 11, 1973 was a military action carried out by the Armed Forces of
Chile formed by the Navy, Air Force and Army together with Carabineros de Chile to overthrow the
socialist president Salvador Allende and the Popular Unity government.
Salvador Allende took office in 1970 as President of Chile, the first Marxist politician in the world
who came to power through general elections in a state of Derecho. For His government, marking

On October 19, 1970, a group of men equipped with tear gas grenades attempted to kidnap
Schneider off an official dinner. The attempt failed because the General left the room in his
private car and not in the official vehicle provided by the men of Viaux. The second attempted
abduction took place at 08:00 on October 22, 1970, when the official car of Schneider was
blocked by four vehicles at the corner of Avenida AmГ©rico Vespucio with Martin de Zamora
(Las Condes) and a group youth surrounded the General, with hammers smashing the rear
windows and rear side door. Realizing that Schneider took his weapon to repel the action, the
kidnappers shot him, impacting it with three bullets, then fled. Cape driver, Leopoldo Mauna
Morales, seeing bleeding the commander in chief, took him to the Military Hospital. Because of
its critical condition, the general suffered cardiac arrest and died at 07:50 of October 25, 1970,
Schneider Doctrine was a principle of adherence to constitutional order, respect for the citizens will
and nonintervention in policy by the Chilean Army. He embodied by the Chilean general, allowed
the election of Salvador Allende as president of Chile, and was the main ideological obstacle to
military coup against him.

Black Skin, White Masks, By Frantz Fanon Essay
Thus my unreason was countered with reason, my reason with real reason. Every hand was a
losing hand for me. I analyzed my heredity. I made a complete audit of my ailment. I wanted to
be typically Negro it was no longer possible. I wanted to be white that was a joke. And, when I
tried, on the level of ideas and intellectual activity, to reclaim my negritude, it was snatched away
from me. (101) Frantz Fanon was a Martinique born, Afro Caribbean psychiatrist, philosopher,
revolutionary, and writer whose works are influential in the fields of post colonial studies,
Marxism, and critical theory. He was born in 1925 and died in 1961. The quote above is from
Fanon s first book, Black Skin, White Masks (1952), originally titled as An Essay for the
Disalienation of Blacks. Fanon, in this book is providing a prognosis about the lived experience
of the black man. He is concerned with describing the place that is held by blacks in the mid 20th
century and illustrates the issues of raceand racism and to point the reader toward a better and free
future for all men. The quote above shows how oppression gives rise to ways of being. Fanon s
experience and the background of the time period he was living in justifies his hostility when he
argues that the black man is constantly trying, but never fully accomplishing, to be white and to
integrate into the white man s world. In this essay I will show the three phases Fanon goes through
to reach this conclusion: to escape his blackness,

Developing nations especially face problems of overpopulation because of their tendency to have
more children to work and support the families. Many of the most overpopulated nations are
located in the Middle East, as well as in nations of Europe.
II. Past UN Actions: In order to address the issue of overpopulation, the United Nations established
the UN Population Fund in 1973 to become the initial manager in promoting population
programmes. The UNFPA primarily focuses on educating individuals, as well as governments, on
healthcare and family services in order to provide the information they need to ensure safe and
planned pregnancies for families. This corporation also advocates for gender equality and youth
empowerment in conjunction with communities, academic institutions, and numerous
organizations to promote the implementation of the ICPD Programme of Action. In addition, the
UN Population Division and the UN Statistics Division bring together information on prevalent
issues, such as migration and development, marriage and fertility figures, and expansion around the
world. Together they work with the Commission on Population and Development and the
Committee for the Coordination of Statistical activities in providing data and news for this
problem. The United Nations has predicted the world population to

How Corporate Greed Is Uniquely A Part Of A Public...
This weeks forum question is what brings you here and interests you. I became a public
administration student after many careers in multiple fields of management. These included retail,
healthcare and currently, technology. I am very interested in organizational structure and
management. The field of public administrationis all encompassing and goes hand in hand with
organizational management studies. I do have an interest as well in local government. I grew
up in a terrific, but non political family and now that I am older, I realize that becoming more
knowledgeable of the political world that surrounds me makes me happy. My lack of
understanding of the political and governmental environment was a void I wished to fill. APUS
is helping me with that. Additionally, I enjoy research and writing. The APUS public
administration program continues to challenge me to research and develop my own theories that
demonstrate understanding of subject matter. I ve been surprised by the type of information that
is publicly available in scholarly articles. My research paper for this course will address how
corporate greed is uniquely a part of Americas capitalistic culture. Specifically, through examples, I
wish to discuss its relationship with our Democratic system. I will contrast the UK and EU
cultures with our own. This subject may appear to be critical of American culture. However, this
paper will in part seek to discover without judgment how corporate greed serves to

Letter To Talien
The two girls who walked out of the house several steps away from each other looked on the
verge of having a hair pulling contest against one another. It was a surprise not to see a trail of
blood behind both girls by the daggers each was throwing at the other with their eyes. The Chief
Steward looked sternly at both girls and they stop their silent bickering and straighten up. Ladies
and gentlemen, I give you young miss Tenia Fontanels and young Miss Paisley Wakens. Excuse
me, said Tenia loftily, with a smug lookin Paisley s direction, it would seem you have forgotten to

completely off guard on his yacht and prove to him the seriousness of their wish to have a
romantic relationship with him and then accompany him back to his school as an official couple.
We had great hope to officially announced one of them as our future daughter in law here today, but
they destroyed that from happening. Oh, but you wanted to know what happened to Talien, Henry

Disregarding the opinion of those who reigned concurrently or historians today, these two ruled their country in a time of turmoil and uncertainty! The world and the people within it were undergoing a major transition. New lands were being discovered as well as major role playing continents and countries were changing status. In fact, The greatest achievement in English history, the breaking the bonds of Rome , and the establishment of spiritual independence, was completed without bloodshed under Elizabeth s auspices, and Elizabeth may have the glory of the work (Time.com, 2). The people of England were in no need of a government that was more concerned about it more than it was for the people. Elizabeth was Queen but she established good ties with parliament. England did not need the rule of a monarchy that controlled strictly, took the people s wealth, and taxed. By taxing the people parliament could control the people (Funk amp; Wagnalls vol. 9, 193). However, this was the exact opposite of what Queen Elizabeth did. She was wealthy, however, she allowed the people of England to have the opportunity to gain wealth. Without alienating public opinion, Queen Elizabeth gained what she wanted. Queen Elizabeth s policies coincided with the interests of the people. Queen Elizabeth was active in foreign policy. The people of England, her subjects, began to see new materials due to her intervention in foreign policy. Furthermore, they began to obtain wealth. Elizabeth began trade with India and granted a charter to the English East India Company (Time.com, 2). • 3. Given To Fly Eddie Vedder Meaning In 1991 when Eddie Vedder wrote and performed his album Ten, he knew he was competing with the big time grunge band; Nirvana. Once it hit the stage it was clear there was no competition. Eddie s deep, emotional messages throughout this album, his shaky, raspy voice that transfers from screaming lyrics to soft, poetic like speaking. All tied together with his hard to hate persona that can be heard throughout this album and every album made by Eddie Vedder. In the song Given To Fly Eddie says He got up out of there, ran for hundreds of miles / He made it to the ocean, had a smoke in a tree / The wind rose up, set him down on his knee. In this verse Eddie is describing his life and how he needs to get away from it all and just have a peaceful break, alone. Vedder likes to use his life in third person in most of his songs to make his message more distant, and almost more easily relatable. The song Given To Fly is actually a second or a reference to the song Going to California By Led Zeppelin and how just leaving might help out more than anything. Throughout the album there are several different songs with an abundance of different meanings. The song, Alive, has one of the deepest messages that is tied to his life personally. The song is about a boy that finds out that who he thought was his father, is actually his stepfather and his real father is dead. Eddie said the song is a work of fiction based on reality (SK) . When Vedder was born his mom had left his father and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Social Class Theory And Political Sociology Power is the The ability of individuals or groups to make there own concerns and interestes count, even when others resist . ( Anthony Giddens 2001 ). There are three major theoretical frameworks in political sociology pluralist, elite theory, and social class perspectives. Classic pluralist see power held by a variety of groups in society; some of which are more powerful than others. The diverse and competing interests of different groups is the basis for a democratic equilibrium. These groups compete with each other to maximise their influence. No one group or class is able to dominate all other groups because of checks and balances built into a democratic system. Elite theory involves the idea that rather than there being a simple plurality of competing groups in society, there are instead a series of competing elites and powerful groups who are able to impose their will and dominate the rest of society. social class theory is based off the ideas of Karl Marx. These frameworks have set the foundation for most perspectives in political sociology. There are two main sociological perspectives. The Functionalist Perspective, Symbolic Interactionism Perspective and the Conflict Perspective. Functionalism presents society as a machine of interconnected parts that work together in unison to maintain a state of economic balance and social equilibrium for the whole. for example the family, schools, government and religion are social institutions that contribute to ... • 5. The Parkinson s Disease Foundation Introduction: The Parkinson s Disease Foundation states that this disease is a chronic and progressive movement disorder. In another words, the disease typically worsens over time. Nearly one million people in the United States live with Parkinson s disease today (Parkinson s Disease Foundation: What is Parkinson s Disease, 2016). The cause of this disease is still being researched and tested, but as of now it is still unknown and has no cure. Since there is no cure, things like medications, treatments, and surgery are given to prolong and stabilize a person with the disease. Parkinson s is when the vital nerve cell called a neurondies. This happens in the part of the brain; substantia nigra, the dying cells still provide dopaminewhich is a chemical that sends messages to the brain to control body movements and coordination. As the disease increases and gets more severe, the amount of dopamine produced decreases which is when a person typically relies on medications to help control movements and their coordination. Symptoms of this disease vary from person to person, the most common ones associated with it are tremors of hands, face, jaw, legs, and arms, slowness of movement, stiffness of limbs, and impaired balance/coordination. Parkinson s is a very interesting disease because just like there is no set cure or cause, there is no one way diagnosis for the disease as well. However, doctors take into consideration the many symptoms that are typically present in someone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Research Paper On The Trinity How does the belief in the Trinity (God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) affect Christian Worship, Christian living, and Christian witness? The Trinity is a doctrine that has and will continue to bring much controversy to the Christian faith. Yet it is important to understand that a practical approach to this topic can be very important. Having a full understanding of the Trinity is vital to the life of a Christian. The distinct, yet interwoven aspects of God s character will affect every aspect of a believer s life. It is important to begin by stating that there are many different doctrinal views of the Trinity. However I believe that the doctrine of Trinity defines one God who is eternally existent as three distinct Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These definitions express three crucial truths: (1) The Father, Son, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a response to the realization of who we are as compared to who God is. When we do this however it is important to understand that God has provided a model for us in our worship. Because he is in community our worship should be done in a communal sense. We need to depend on one another to help us comprehend the majesty and love of God and respond in true worship as a community (Eph. 3:14 21). (Beyond Opinion 246) It appears that while we are to worship the Son and the Holy Spirit, we are to primarily focus our attention upon the Father because they give glory to the Father (John 16:14 15: 17:4 5). A great verse that brings this idea into focus is Ephesians 2:18: Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us. Understanding this allows us to have a proper focus on how we are to Worship God. An incorrect interpretation of scripture can lead to an overemphasis upon one of the members of the trinity which can be dangerous to the spiritual development of a believer and ... In A Streetcar Named Desire two characters, Blanch and Stanley, both feel they have a very specific image to uphold. They feel this is needed in order to be respected by the other characters in the book. People often have experiences that shape their future. These experiences can be for better or worse. They can cause someone to create an alternate image of themselves just to appear like nothing is wrong. One person that Blanche puts an act around is her sister Stella. But don t you look at me, Stella, no, no, no, not till later, not till I ve bathed and rested! And turn that over light off! This shows that from the moment Blanche saw her sister, she was hiding her appearance from Stella. This is just one of the things Blanch does to try to keep her appearance around Stella. Blanche wants her sister to think of her as a respectable member of the community, someone who has grown up and changed her past. Blanche does this by never allowing her sister to see her in full light. Another thing Blanche does is lie to her sister about situations or habits she has acquired. For example, Blanche has developed a drinking problem, but says the exact opposite to her sister, Now don t get worried, your sister hasn t turned into a drunkard, she s just all shaken up hot and tired and dirty . Stella has more than likely not seen her sister in a while. During this time frame, Blanch has aged considerably. Blanche does not want her sister to think of her as someone older or as someone she may have to take care of one day. Because of this, Blanche is acting as if she has changed her ways when in reality she has only caused more harm to herself. Blanche does not only put on an act for Stella but also for Mitch. Radiation is not something most people face on a daily basis, but for the town of Prypiat in the Ukraine it is a barren wasteland because of it. The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster was the worst nuclear catastrophe to have ever occurred and, is a perfect example of what can happen when the blind and unmasked furry of atomic power is left unharnessed. According to the test parameters, at the start of the experiment, the thermal output of the reactor should have been no lower than 700 MW. If the conditions of the reactor had been as planned, the test almost certainly would have proceeded safely. The eventual disaster resulted from attempts to boost the reactor output once the experiment had started, inconsistent with the approved procedure. (Marples 39 43) The Chernobyl power plant had been in operation for two years without the capability to ride through the first 60 75 seconds of a total loss of electric power. The station managers wished to correct this at the first opportunity. This may explain why they continued the test, even when serious problems arose, and why the requisite approval for the test was not sought from the Soviet nuclear oversight regulator. • 9. Congenital Central Hypoventilation and Central Alveolar... Congenital Central Hypoventilation Central Alveolar Hypoventilation Syndromes Introduction Sleep can be simply defined as a reversible behavioral state of perceptual disengagement from and unresponsiveness to the environment (Kryger, Roth Dement). As far as the sleeping disorders are concerned, they involve the difficulties that are associated to sleeping. When an individual has difficulty in falling or staying asleep, falling asleep at wrong times, falling asleep unnecessarily, or shows other abnormal sleep behaviors, he/she is said to have a sleep disorder. Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome The Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome or CCHS is categorized as a parasomnia. Such sleep disorders are the symptoms of central nervous system activation that are generally transmitted through skeletal muscle or autonomic nervous system channels ( The International Classification of Sleep Disorders, Revised: Diagnostic and Coding Manual 19). CCHS is an uncommon syndrome that is mostly present from the time of birth. It is widely defined as the malfunctioning of automatic control of breathing. The affected individuals have missing or insignificant ventilatory sensitivity to hypercapnia and hypoxaemia during sleep and wakefulness (Chen, and Keens 182). This is the reason why patients with CCHS experience progressive hypercapnia and hypoxaemia during sleep (Chen, and Keens 182). • 10. Comparison Of Zoroastrianism And Buddhism Zoroastrianism and Buddhism, like many other world religions, attempted to answer the big questions that were being asked in Southwest Asia and India in the Axial Age (700 B.C.E 500 B.C.E) and establish social order. Social order, in this sense, refers to a set of customs and values that create well behaved citizens and allow a society to exist safely and harmoniously. While both religions tried to make sense of suffering and provide guidance to people on how to live their lives, each differs tremendously in their fundamental beliefs. Zoroaster, the founder of Zoroastrianism, examined human suffering with the idea of two contrasting forces, Good, referred to as Ahura Mazda and Evil, Ahriman, each represented by light and darkness. But as helpful as credit cards can be, using them the wrong way can lead to a loss of credit score and even get you into debt. Therefore, it is important that you know how to make the most of your credit cards. Here are some of the best habits for effective credit card use. Find the Right Card Not all credit cards are alike and you should carefully consider your options before you sign up with a specific card. It s a good idea to compare different credit card offers through websites such as This Is Money, for instance. Furthermore, if you ve found a card for yourself, make sure you understand the terms and conditions before you sign up. Credit card agencies are good at telling you all the positives of the specific card, so you need to be careful and read the fine print as well. If you don t understand the terms and conditions, ask the card supplier to explain them to you. If they can t do this properly, then you are probably better off with someone else anyway! Pay Your Bills on Time From the first day that you start using the card, the most important thing is to keep up to date with the bill payment dates. If you miss one date, it s easy to start missing them even more frequently. The key is to build a habit that guarantees you are always on time. • 12. Essay on the Power of Language in The Plague The Power of Language in The Plague In his novel The Plague, Albert Camus presents a pseudo historical documentary of a plague that confines and controls the citizens of Oran within their city gates. The plague possesses the power of life and death over the people, as it determines which citizens will face their death or those who work to stop death. These latter men, personified by the character s of Rieux, Grand, and Tarrau, each struggle endlessly to master the plague s power over their lives, even with the realization they may never succeed. For Camus, this idea of impossible struggle against an unseen power resonates throughout the novel and reoccurs in another plague which these men must contend the limits of human ... Rieux recognizes this power and initially rejects the use of syndrome as it would mean almost immediate implications upon his profession as a doctor. Camus furthers this when Rieux considers the use of the word plague . Rieux hesitates, knowing that this word possesses certain implications that will change the lives of all Oran s citizens through quarantine. Thus for Rieux, It s not the question of the term I use; it s a question of time (P.47). In this description Rieux establishes that the real issue of using the term plague concerns whether the time is right to unleash the word s power to change both their careers and the townspeople s lives. Through Rieux s hesitation in stating these terms, Camus demonstrates how language, like plague, can have the power of life or death over people like Rieux. However, Rieux also realizes that he will never master or control this power, no matter how carefully he chooses his words. Rieux elaborates upon this in his descriptions of the letters and telegrams he writes as ultimately resulting in the living words, into which we had as it were transfused our heart s blood, were drained of any meaning (p.63). • 13. A Brief Synopsis Of The Emerging Ethanol Fuel Industry A brief synopsis of the Emerging Ethanol Fuel Industry Ethyl alcohol or grain alcohol, commonly known as Ethanol (commonly seen as E 85 at the gas pumps) has a long history in the United States. Henry Ford considered it the fuel of choice. [1] In fact, his very first automobile, built in 1896, ran solely on ethanol. He said, There is enough alcohol in one year s yield of an acre of potatoes to drive the machinery necessary to cultivate the fields for a hundred years. But it s use in that capacity on a commercial scale was never realized due to the abundant resources and soon to arrive efficient production processes of petroleum products. However, with the highly volatile petroleum markets, mounting environmental concerns and the increase of gasoline fuel prices it is being reconsidered. To where in 2013, ethanol use had displaced as much as 462 million barrels of imported oil, reducing the dependence on foreign oil by 6 percent. [2] From an Economical View In the last 10 years alone gasoline fuel prices have doubled, from just over $1.59 a gallon in 2004 to $2.59 a gallon, as of December 2014. But the unstable fluctuations in the market, along with the nation trying to unshackle itself from the dependence of foreign petroleum, along with the added fear that the world has reached or is on the verge of reaching peak oil has spurred renewed interest within the alternative fuel industry as a whole, with the primary focus focused on ethanol. The smartphone has created an environment in which adolescents are always connected with those they go to highschool with, through the use of social media. For example if a bully were to be picking on a student at school the student could not just go home and forget about the incident, but now the bully has the ability to abuse that student at any point he/she desires. These types of incidents are creating a new wave of problems for adolescents and their parents, Nojiri Matthew interviewed Rick Wolf (assistant superintendent at Mifflin School district) explaining The increase in social media use has added another element when identifying and caring for kids dealing with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder and other mental health disorders, Wolf said (Wolf). The smartphone is the catalyst to these problems. If you were to take away the smartphone problems such as cyberbullying would be less of an issue. However adolescents these days are given smartphones at such a young age, with no supervision on how long they use it throughout the day, that it becomes second nature to be looking at it every minute of everyday checking their social media profiles. ... During the seminar I learned about several parts of dating and domestic violence, as well as healthy, unhealthy, and abusive relationships. I was familiar with many of these topics, but hadn t gone so far in depth with them before. First of all, dating violence and domestic violence are completely different things. Dating violence is when physical violence is used against or between one s significant other and oneself. Meanwhile, domestic violence is violence against or between someone one lives with and oneself. For example, dating violence is happening if one s boyfriend or girlfriend were to slap one s face without consent. It is the land in which Jesus was crucified and then, as Christians believe, bought back to life in a miracle event. Urban said in his speech, wrest that land from the wicked race, that land which the scripture says floweth with milk and honey and was given by god to the children of Israel . Although some improvements have been made in recent years, Blacks are still more likely to receive suboptimal care in this setting, compared to Whites (1). Blacks are also more likely to be admitted to poorer quality NH s than Whites (2). There also tend to be racial disparities in psychosocial well being among NH residents, as determined by lower social engagement among Blacks versus Whites (3). These findings are particularly alarming provided that the proportion of Blacks aged 65 and older who live in NH s has increased dramatically, while the number of Whites in NH s has declined (4). Multiple factors contribute to the disparities between Blacks and Whites in NH care quality. One such factor is the lack of regulatory practices to curb racial discrimination in this setting. Communication between parents and their children plays a key role in relationships in literature, as well as real life. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare explores the lives of two families in the midst of a very long feud, the Montagues and the Capulets. When Juliet, a Capulet, and Romeo, a Montague fall in love Juliet decides she cannot tell her parents about it, only her Nurse. The decisions made by the two lovers led them to a point where in the end, they both end up committing suicide. In I ll Give you the Sun by Jandy Nelson readers meet Jude, a girl struggling to cope with her dysfunctional family, for she feels as though they have neglected her. • 39. Sea Anemone Investigation My investigation focus was to analyse the community pattern within the Rocky Shore Siren s Rock . I investigated the distribution of the Red Sea Anemone (Actinia tenebrosa) and the Grey side gilled Sea Slug (Pleurobranchaea maculata) on the slopes of the rocks and also in the rock pools by looking at both the abiotic and biotic factors of their environment. The community pattern found on the rocks is a zonation pattern this is because there are distinct horizontal bands of organisms from the low to high tide. The Rocky Shore habitat is mainly rocks and rock pools. The two species I have chosen that show an interrelationship in this community are the Sea Slug (Pleurobranchaea maculata) and the Sea Anenome (Actinia tenebrosa). Primary Organism... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gause s competitive exclusion principle states that no two species with identical niches can co exist for long in the same place. This is because they both have similar needs, and one would out compete the other for space and food. Abiotic Environment An abiotic environmental factor affecting the organisms in the rocky shore is the temperature, this is because the temperature of the water affects the amount of dissolved oxygen the water can hold. Aquatic organisms are dependent on dissolved oxygen for their survival in this ecosystem. Another abiotic factor is tidal movement, when both organisms are not in water, they are exposed to prolonged periods of aerial exposure, this increases the risk of desiccation for the sea slug and sea anemone. Another abiotic factor is the weather conditions, if the organism is in the mid tidal zone and it is not saturated in water, it could be come ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Review Of Descartes Meditations On First Philosophy Descartes s conception of the self and how the self relates to the body started with how Descartes viewed the self in Meditations on First Philosophy. Descartes wanted to start a new foundation with philosophy and so he used reason to find truths that were unboubtful. Since sense data can deceive you, Descartes could not trust things he saw, heard, or felt. I have noticed that the sense are sometimes deceptive; and it is a mark of prudence never to place our complete trust in those who have deceived us even once (Descartes, 1993, p.14). However, he realized it was possible to overcome senses due to reason. A person can doubt what they see, since it could be a dream or an insane state, but person s existence is undoubtful because it is self evident. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Black Skin, White Masks, By Frantz Fanon Essay Thus my unreason was countered with reason, my reason with real reason. Every hand was a losing hand for me. I analyzed my heredity. I made a complete audit of my ailment. I wanted to be typically Negro it was no longer possible. I wanted to be white that was a joke. And, when I tried, on the level of ideas and intellectual activity, to reclaim my negritude, it was snatched away from me. (101) Frantz Fanon was a Martinique born, Afro Caribbean psychiatrist, philosopher, revolutionary, and writer whose works are influential in the fields of post colonial studies, Marxism, and critical theory. He was born in 1925 and died in 1961. The quote above is from Fanon s first book, Black Skin, White Masks (1952), originally titled as An Essay for the Disalienation of Blacks. Fanon, in this book is providing a prognosis about the lived experience of the black man. He is concerned with describing the place that is held by blacks in the mid 20th century and illustrates the issues of raceand racism and to point the reader toward a better and free future for all men. The quote above shows how oppression gives rise to ways of being. Fanon s experience and the background of the time period he was living in justifies his hostility when he argues that the black man is constantly trying, but never fully accomplishing, to be white and to integrate into the white man s world. In this essay I will show the three phases Fanon goes through to reach this conclusion: to escape his blackness, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. How Corporate Greed Is Uniquely A Part Of A Public... This weeks forum question is what brings you here and interests you. I became a public administration student after many careers in multiple fields of management. These included retail, healthcare and currently, technology. I am very interested in organizational structure and management. The field of public administrationis all encompassing and goes hand in hand with organizational management studies. I do have an interest as well in local government. I grew up in a terrific, but non political family and now that I am older, I realize that becoming more knowledgeable of the political world that surrounds me makes me happy. My lack of understanding of the political and governmental environment was a void I wished to fill. APUS is helping me with that. Additionally, I enjoy research and writing. The APUS public administration program continues to challenge me to research and develop my own theories that demonstrate understanding of subject matter. I ve been surprised by the type of information that is publicly available in scholarly articles. My research paper for this course will address how corporate greed is uniquely a part of Americas capitalistic culture. Specifically, through examples, I wish to discuss its relationship with our Democratic system. I will contrast the UK and EU cultures with our own. This subject may appear to be critical of American culture. However, this paper will in part seek to discover without judgment how corporate greed serves to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
