Reflective Essay Sample
Crafting a reflective essay can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a delicate balance between
introspection, articulation, and organization of thoughts. Unlike other forms of academic
writing, a reflective essay demands a deep exploration of personal experiences, emotions, and
insights. This task can be particularly demanding as it requires the writer to delve into their own
thoughts, feelings, and experiences, making the process inherently subjective.
One of the complexities lies in finding the right tone – not too self-indulgent, yet not overly
detached. Striking this balance is crucial to engage the reader while maintaining the reflective
nature of the essay. Additionally, selecting the most relevant experiences and insights to include
in the essay adds another layer of difficulty. It involves careful consideration of the impact each
event had on personal growth and learning.
Moreover, the process of self-reflection itself can be challenging, as it requires a certain level of
vulnerability and honesty. Confronting personal strengths and weaknesses, acknowledging
mistakes, and extracting meaningful lessons can be an emotionally taxing process.
Structuring the essay is yet another hurdle. Balancing the chronological order of events with
thematic connections can be tricky. The narrative should flow seamlessly, guiding the reader
through the reflective journey without losing coherence or focus.
Furthermore, expressing abstract concepts and emotions in a clear and concise manner is an
ongoing challenge. Finding the right words to articulate complex thoughts and feelings can be
frustrating, leading to multiple revisions and edits.
In conclusion, writing a reflective essay is a demanding task that requires a unique set of skills. It
involves a deep dive into one's own experiences, emotions, and thoughts while maintaining a
thoughtful and engaging narrative. Striking the right balance, structuring the essay effectively,
and expressing oneself clearly adds to the complexity of the task.

Monsanto Research Paper
MON87705, commercially Vistive Gold , also known as Improved Fatty Acid
Profile Soybean MON 87705, is one of Monsanto s Round up ready type GMOs. In
the soybean, three genes were modified in three different areas. Glyphosate, a
competitive inhibitor for phosphoenolpyruvate, is a commonly used herbicide that
increases a farmer s yield. However, this herbicideis fatal to plants if too much is
used. Glyphosateinterferes with the biosynthesis of the aromatic amino acids
phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan, which are only synthesized in plants and
microorganisms. In Monsanto s genetically modified soybean, the CP4 EPSPS
Agrobacterium gene (5 enolpyruvylshikimate 3 phosphate synthase) is incorporated.
The CP4 ESPS gene is used as a selectable marker to identify transgenic plants during

Indoor growing has virtually no risk of having any weeds growing in the first place,
so herbicides would not be needed in that situation. Also, recently, there is a new
invention called the Harrington Seed Destructor. In Australia, resistant weeds have
taken most of Western Australia. Since Australian farmers turned to using
herbicides, the weeds have quickly become multiresistant to at least four classes of
herbicides in a matter of years. The only herbicide classes, called Photosystem II and
long chain fatty acid inhibitors remain effective everywhere. However, non chemical
ways of disposing with weeds, such as ryegrass, have been effectively destroying
95% of the ryegrass population, also returning the nutrients from the chaff of the
weed back into the soil. Using these two solutions, farmers can grow Genetically
Modified Seeds without trouble, and retain the benefits of the GMOs without

My First Day At School
I entered the school and the hot air hits my face. There are lots of people there,
smiling. I didn t know if it was a fake smile, but it made me feel welcomed. I went
into the office to get my schedule. When I got it I went directly to my Science
classroom and sat in my seat. The teacher called me up to introduce myself. Great,
just what I wanted, to make a fool out of myself on the first day. My face felt numb
and I wanted to go home. I went up and felt my voice struggling to get out, my
body trembling as if I just fell into a tub of water. My first words came out
M.....M.....My name s Jeff. At that moment I thought that I was done for, I was
walking back to my seat, and I thought that I heard laughter. My face went red hot,
and I thought that I was going to flip out, I just held it all in and started to listen as
the teacher talked.
My skin went hot and red. I just wanted to go back home. I sat in my seat and
listened as the teacher talked, trying hard not to make any eye contact, then it
happened, the bell rang it was lunchtime, the other worst possible thing that could
happen, I didn t know where to sit, I hadn t made any friends. I went to the cafe and
let my eyes gaze over the people that were there. Then I heard, Jeff, over here, the
thing that I was least expecting, happened, I got invited to sit with them. We talked
and ate, after that, we went outside, it was cold and made my hands numb and dry, I
asked them if we could go inside, but they said that they wanted

Danny Zuko mainly cared about what people thought about him and his
reputation. Though his style is like he s cruising for a bruisin. What i like about
Betty Rizzo is that she doesn t care of what people think about her, but what I don t
like is that she acts like a spoiled little girl who always wants it her way. I like that
Kenickie is a greaser type a guy and what I don t like is that he sometimes tries to
act like Danny. What I like about Frenchy is that she is full of joy, but it s when
she really acts like an airhead that I don t like. What I like about Leo Balmudo is
that he has a nice car, but that he is against the T Birds. What I mainly like about
the story line is that Danny and Sandy fall in love and they try to change
themselves to fit into each other s lifestyles. Plus how the music fit in well with it
too. What I don t like about the story line is that it s cliche and predictable. The time
zone it was based off of is that it was in the 50 s and I like that it was based off the 50

Book Of Ecclesiastes Research Paper
The book of Ecclesiastes is one of the unique pieces of literature in the Old
Testament, the author of the book takes a very interesting view on life and
wisdom that makes the reader take a deeper look into life itself. The author is
believed to be Solomon, who wrote the book late in his life, around 935 B.C.
(Smith) Solomon describes his personal experience and disappointments with life,
as he states: I have seen all the works which have been done under the sun, and
behold, all is vanity and striving after the wind (Ecclesiastes 1:14) This relates to
everyone still today, how people try to strive for success in their jobs, to make more
money, and all their labor is useless at the end of their life. What is the point of
making millions of dollars in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Solomon had become an old man he had tried every earthly pleasure under the
sun, he had experienced everything he ever wanted to and gained wisdom from
those experiences, and that too he states is folly. I don t believe he was saying that
wisdom is a bad thing, what he was saying is that credit is not always given where
credit is due. Barksdale 2 Meaning that human nature does not always appreciate
wise counsel, even if its value is proven without a doubt. Though Solomon s wisdom
came through sin and sensuality, he had tasted every evil desire that he had wanted
to. He did not gain his wisdom through wise teachings and counsel, and doing the
right thing all the time; his wisdom was through experiences of useless sinful
activities. About midway through the book, the author Solomon switches from
proverbs of wisdom to poetry, why is this? Some believe the teacher had stopped
analyzing the dilemma of life and wanted to start giving practical advice. Others see
the poetry in the later chapters of the book as perhaps somewhat of
Personal Factors Affecting Legal Consciousness
What good is a Bill of Rights that does not include the right to play, to wander, to
explore, the rights to stillness and solitude, to discovery and physical freedom?
Erik D. Fritsvold Legal consciousness is the summation of views and/or ideas that
are expressed by a person in regards to law, litigation, and the justice system as a
whole. This can also be viewed as an opinion a single person has about what is
constituted as right and what is wrong . My view of the law might be different than
your view of the law and that makes our legal consciousness different from one
another. The reason that our views are different from each other/another person is the
fact that we have many different factors that make our identities different. Identity is a

While each of these relate to your identity, they all have different ways of affecting
legal consciousness. Your legal consciousness is heavily influenced by your
identity and the factors that make up your identity; upbringing, social location,
relationships, environment and personal experiences. I grew up in a family full of
law enforcement officers and relatives that worked in or with the justice system. I
got to see first hand how the law worked, how litigation occurred, and the important
aspects of the current justice system that many people do not often see. My views
on these things could be different than someone else who wasn t brought up in that
environment and their views on this same subject. The way you were raised, who
you are, what you believe, and the influences that are working around you is all part
of your upbringing. I was speaking with a classmate last week when he mentioned to
me a law that he thought was true. He mentioned that if you get pulled over by a law
enforcement officer for suspected DWI, and refuse the Breathalyzer, they cannot
arrest you or do anything to you. Having grown up around law enforcement

Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals
The Joint Commission focuses on certain goals each year. For patient safety and
positive outcomes, hospitals are required to follow certain standards. National Patient
Safety Goals were established in 2002 to help identify areas of concern with patient
safety. This group is made up by a panel of experts including nurses, doctors,
pharmacists and many other healthcare professionals. They advise the Joint
Commission on how to address these different patient safety issues. Two goals to be
discussed are improving the accuracy of patient identification and medication safety.

However, there are issues with this system as well because the computer is only as
smart as we allow it to be. If pharmacy puts in the computer the wrong medication or
dose, or information is incorrect, the computer will still allow you to administer. It
goes back to communication, knowing your patient and how important it is to still
ask questions and have conversation with your patient about the medication you are
about to give them. Read their history and physical to get a better idea of everything
going on with your patient so we can continue to provide safe quality care.
Goal three by the National Patient Safety Goal for 2014 is to use medicines safely.
Many errors occur regularly with medications which is why communication is so
important with the doctors, nurses and patients. One process that Joint Commission
requires in accredited HCO s is medication reconciliation creating the most accurate
list possible off all medications a patient is taking, including drug name, dosage,
frequency, and route, and comparing that list against the physician s admission,
transfer, and/or discharge orders with the goal of providing correct medications to the
patients at all transition points within the hospital (Finkelman Kenner, 2012, p. 388) .

Some strategies that Garrett Hardin uses throughout his text are Pathos and Logos.
He uses these devices in order to appeal to the audience and to make his text sound
more credible. A example of logos is, As of 1973, the U.S. had a population of 210
million people, who were increasing by 0.8 percent per year. Outside our lifeboat, let
us imagine another 210 million people (say the combined populations of Colombia,
Ecuador, Venezuela, Morocco, Pakistan, Thailand and the Philippines) who are
increasing at a rate of 3.3 percent per year. Put differently, the doubling time for this
aggregate populationis 21 years, compared to 87 years for the U.S. In this section he

His way of learning would be doing chores you could say and doing other activities
that helped him learn about the world. He knows that his son is not the only one
that struggles from this problem. This is why he gave facts about some certain
things that are meant especially for those students, materials they can use to help
them learn. Throughout the text Medicine Grizzly Bear Lake was very formal and
respectful. This is a key step in insuring to get the teacher s attention and try to
persuade her. In the following paragraphs I will explain how his son learned, and
also how Medicine Grizzly Bear Lake could improve his argument.
Medicine Grizzly Bear Lake s son is named Wind Wolf. His teacher would call him
wind thinking wolf was a middle name. He insisted that she would call ind wolf
because it was his full name. Wind Wolf was raised by an indian family this is one
of the reasons why he was taught differently. By doing so he is not used to and
does not fully understand the way that people teach him in a public school. He
grew up learning differently, so that does not mean that he is wrong when he
answers a question, since he learned differently it could have been right. For
example, in the text there is an example of this type of situation. If you ask him how
many months there are in a year, he will probably tell you thirteen. He will respond
this way not because he doesn t know how to count properly, but because he has been

Do we determine our own destinies, or are we powerless to change them? Before I

necessarily happen to a particular person or thing in the future. Most people get
destiny and fate confused. I believe that you can t change your destiny but you can

Being A Bartender Research Paper
Bartending is a highly competitive career between young and old adults. Many
college student rely on being a bartender as their main source of income. In many
ways, some might say I have the perfect job. I succeed to work in an upbeat
atmosphere, meet new people, and sample some treasured spirits. Most of the time
you can find me laughing with guests while mixing their favorite cocktails on the
menu. I play host to their party and gatekeeper to their alcohol. Some will try to
make friends with me in hopes of free drinks in the future. Although this may sound
like the perfect career there are some disadvantages. Before quitting your day job,
here are a few points to consider. Some of the disadvantages are working late hours,
dealing with a stressful work environment, and inconsistent pay.
To begin, being a bartender will have you putting in the late night work hours. Being
a night owl is an understatement in this career. Many bars close in the early
morning, and leave the bartender to clean up the trash and spilled drinks left behind.

Consequently, I become more of an impulse shopper. I do not think about saving
money, being that I am not waiting on a paycheck. With this in mind, there are

money when I do not have the usual amount of income. I struggle through weeks
where I earn $400, and others upwards of $900. It is difficult to base your bills on
what you are earning. It is also harder to get a loan for anything because there is such

Pros And Cons Of Coal
Many places are known for many things, and West Virginia is known for its coal. As
much as a television remote needs batteries, West Virginia needed coal in its early
statehood. Coal has recently been the subject of chaos in many circles around the
state. Many believe we should bleed, breathe, and breed coal. While others realize
that coal is dangerous and is on its way out the door. As everything else in the
world coal has its Pro s and Con s. For example, coal is a cheaper alternative to
creating heat which maintains electricity. Though you may pollute the air with a
high concentrate of sulfur in which coal releases. As for me, I believe coal is on its
deathbed and rightfully so. Coal has taken far too many lives, such, as young men,

Many miners believe that in 2001 coal regulation took a turn for the worst. Instead
of the state inspectors coming to give the mines plaques for various achievements
such as employee not being hurt, they come now to fine and attempt to shut down
these mines. According to a set group of individuals, the reason for this is, the
UMWA now only covers around 15% of all miners. With the lost revenue, the
UMW is now targeting these mines. The response, giving by the UMW is far too
many lives have been claimed due to negligence s and they are tired of hearing
stories like this: Over the years, these mines have produced the wages for many a
coal miner to buy his daughter a doll house at Christmas, a new family car or a trip
to Florida during a miners vacation, such as my father had first done for our family in
1949. They also took their share of coal miners lives. My own grandfather was one of
those who was taken early in life when he was killed in a rock fall at the No. 6 mines
in 1936 when my dad was just a boy. The grim statistics of those lost lives have
helped forge new mine safety laws which have saved countless others.
For that reason, I believe coal is dead for good. The biggest clue we have is that the
states that rely on coal heavily are now in debt. For many states, they look at the
national debt, yet we are in a crisis of our own. This is evident by our recent 300+
million dollar budget cut. Even with plans such as the rainy day funds

another attack is going to happen.
The second attack is on a small boy in the sea at a crowded beach on Amity Island.
It starts with the young boy asking his mother if he can go back into the sea. We
then see Brody sat on the beach watching out for sharks. The camera does a long shot
of Brody s point of view, which we see a woman screaming. This makes us think
that the girl is being attacked when she is not, this builds up tension because it
hasn t happened yet and we know it will do we just don t no when. Using the wide
angle shot of the shows us how big the sea is and how vulnerable people are in it. It
then shows a boy running back into the water using mid range shot with the boy
on the lilo n the background and the children in the fore ground. This makes us
uneasy because there is a lot of splashing which means if the shark was to be there
it would be camouflaged and also the splashing attracts sharks. Next, there is a
close up shot of a small child singing, seeing the small child singing is calming
which lulls us into a false sense of security, making the imminent attack scarier as
you do not expect it. A view from under the water is then given from the shark s
point of view showing legs. This gives us the signal that something

The Vs. Static Budgeting Essay
When we compare the static budget with the actual results, there has been a
decrease of 2000 cart rentals, which cause $50,000 unfavorable variance.
Moreover, there is an unfavorable variance of $200 from the static budget and this
is due to the increase in the Labor cost. But when it comes to the gas and oil there
has been a decrease, which cause $1100 favorable variance. So the difference
between the actual operating profits and the static budgeting for April is $49100
($50,000U + $200U $1100F). In my opinion almost of all the differences between
the actual operating profits and the static budgeting for April is due to the reduced
cart rentals from 6000 to 4000. When we compare the flexible budgetwith the actual
results, there is an unfavorable variance of $200, this is due to the increase in the
Labor cost and also there is an unfavorable variance of $900 from the flexible budget
and this is because gas and oil were over the budget. In the case of flexible budget,
labor, gas and oil were over the budget which cause unfavorable variance of $1100
($200 + $900). The $200 unfavorable variance in labor is probably insignificant and
the $900 gas and oil difference is likely a timing difference between when the gas
and oil are purchased and when they are actually used.

mind of Ian Chovil who was a victim of the mental health disease and finding his
accounts very eccentric it is clear that this is something that could quite possibly
affect the brains of the people that commit serious crimes in regards to the Media.
Ian says in his story a few things which connect this type of mental health to violent
obscure behaviour. He says he had delusions right from the start which after
reading his story states, progressed from visions of famous persons trying to force
him to commit suicide right to the later stages of his schizophrenia where he says
he got a lot of messages from favourite Rock and Rolla songs, movies, cartoons and
library books. Ian doesn t say these forms of media forced him to murder innocent
people but it does provide evidence that he received messages. These messages in the
mind of another schizophrenic could lead to serious acts of violence which leads
onto the next part of his story where he mentions how his delusions changed as aliens

reality became very tenuous, he got into trouble with the law, became an alcoholic

Weaknesses Of Ir, It Is Not The Silver Bullet That Will...
Weaknesses of IR
Although there are a lot of strengths for IR, it is not the silver bullet that will
completely change accounting forever. One of the main weaknesses of IR is the
expenses that come with measuring such a comprehensive range of factors that
include non monetary factors that can be hard to actually measure (Eccles Krzus,
2010). It can be unappealing for smaller companies or organisations to set up all of
these systems in order to provide a wider perspective of their business or organisation
just to please stakeholders, when the costs will outweigh the potential profits of
attracting new investors.
Another issue would be potential information overload for less knowledgeable
individuals who will simply be overwhelmed by all the information provided by IR.
There is a question of how important is it to report more comprehensively if the end
user will simply be unable to use all of the information to their advantage, which
raises another question of if it is worth reporting in an IR format at all.
Time is also a major issue for some companies who may have less labour to spare in
order to report on what can be considered less important aspects of an organisation,
especially if it is a small to medium sized enterprise. There have been reports of
some integrated reports being three times as longer than estimated to be completed
(Eccles Saltzman, 2011). It can be very hard to justify allocating that many hours to
prepare a report that some may find unnecessary or

The idea which prevailed was that nuclear weapons would bring about the destruction
of human race sooner or later and the clock was a measure of how close mankind
was to its destruction. The clock indicated that the closer the time is to midnight. the
nearer mankind is to its destruction. The minute hand moves forward and backward
depending on the social and political circumstances [12]. The clock is not a matter of

The neo nationalistic approach has led to tensions and intolerance rise amongst
countries. Political point scoring amongst some democratic leaders of nuclear capable
countries consists of threats of nuclear warfare with the hostile countries. In all the
events, diplomacy has taken a back seat and threats of nuclear attack is replied with
a similar threat instead of back door diplomacy on issues [18].
The dependency of the clock in recent times is not connected to global changes but
rather statements and gestures of individual leaders. Countless efforts have been
taken by the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists to help reduce the global threats for
example efforts of proposing to opt for the Iran Nuclear deal in order to reduce
pollution or the efforts to stop North Korea in testing the nuclear missiles.
A Comparison of Creating the Myth and Beauty and the...
Linda Seger s hero myth from her publication Creating the Myth is very thorough
in the steps involved in creating a hero of a story. All ten steps are very common to
a typical hero story. However, there are some gaps in her theory. An example of a
story that does not fit Seger s theory is the Disney version of the fairy taleBeauty and
the Beast. This popular cultural phenomenon has within it an atypical hero, one who
pokes holes in Seger s hero myth theory. This atypical hero, simply named Beast,
does not fit all ten of the steps in a typical hero story.
It is obvious that Beast does not fit Seger s theory the moment he is introduced in
the story. He described as a spoiled, selfish, and unkind prince [with] no love in his ...

Seger states that in fairy tales an old woman, a dwarf, a witch, or a wizard helps
the hero . . . The hero achieves the goal because of this help, and because the hero
is receptive to what this person has to give (173). Conversely, Beast is helped by
the very damsel he imprisons. Belle is a normal woman, not a witch or a wizard;
she has no special powers and is not old or dwarfish in any way. Also, Beast is
extremely reluctant to accept any help from her. In the Disney version of the story,
Belle tries to teach Beast how to control his temper and be more compassionate and
loving. Beast is not receptive at all to this help throughout the story, but still
manages to defeat the curse left on him by a self revelation. He decides after Belle s
departure from his castle to learn to love and be kindhearted. Although her help may
have had an impact on his transformation, it was the mere presence of her and his
own self conscience that ultimately helped him conquer his relentless curse. This is
quite different from what Seger illustrates in her hero myth theory.
Furthermore, the sixth through the eighth steps in Seger s hero theory do not apply
to Beast s situation in Beauty and the Beast. In these steps, according the Seger, the

There s more than one way you can make money selling on Amazon. I m going to tell
you about the main ones in this article.
First of all, Amazon Marketplace. Marketplace offers you an opportunity to sell

It costs 86p plus a referral fee for each sale. You are also restricted to the product
categories you can sell in. However, the advantage is that it costs virtually nothing to
start and there are no ongoing charges if, initially, you don t sell very much.
Selling a lot is for professional sellers who expect to sell more than 35 items a month.
You pay a 28.75 monthly fixed fee and a referral fee. You can sell in all the Amazon
product categories.
It isn t always viable to list low price, low volume products as a sell a little seller. To
do that you need to be a sell a lot seller! However, I d recommend you take the
selling a little route to start out with. You can always upgrade later.
Choose your option, then fill in the online form.
Pro Merchant Sellers
Once you are selling a lot you will probably also want to become what Amazon call
a Pro Merchant Seller. Pro Merchants have access to volume selling and bulk listing
tools. There is a web interface that allows you to more easily manage your product
descriptions, inventory and orders. You will also be able to export and import
information to and from your account.
Once you get up and running the selling a lot/Pro Merchant option will work out
much cheaper and, importantly, will allow you to work on tighter margins and make
money from sales that those who sell just a little can t.

Ian Fleming Research Paper
Ian Fleming and On Her Majesty s Secret Service
You can always tell the power of an incredible artist by the amount of people
influenced by their work. Ian Fleming s works have touched people from all ages,
from children to the elderly, he has a book that could entertain them all. Risk Taking
is common theme that comes up in many, if not most of his novels. By looking at
On Her Majesty s Secret Service, one can see that Ian Fleming included the theme of
risk taking because he himself enjoyed and experienced plenty of this in his own life.

the perfect fit in the Naval Intelligence Agency. He got to be a part of large

Zoos In The Philippines Essay
Zoological Park or more commonly called zoo is what you call a place wherein
animals are held captive and are on display for people to observe. Zoos are also
called as menageries in some places. Menageries are exhibits of animals, especially
wild animals, in enclosures. During the ancient times, explorers, aristocrats and
noblemen showcase their power, wealth and expeditions through menageries.
Explorers bring back unfamiliar species of animals from their expedition. Ancient
petroglyphs show evidences that zooowners hired care takers for the animals in
captivity. Zoos were privately owned and were established so that ancient aristocrats
will be able to view and boast about the exotic animals from their travels. In the

choice for many because of its convenient location it is located in the city which is
accessible for many and extremely affordable entrance fees. However, Manila Zoo
has its fair share of issues. First, enclosures in Manila Zoo are old, rusty and too
small for the animals. The cages that the monkeys are in are all worn out, tattered
and rust colored. Although, there were very few monkeys in captivity, the cages
still look like it would not be able to accommodate even one monkey due to its
condition. The enclosure is not big enough for monkeys to roam around; the floor
of the cage is also made from concrete which obviously does not resemble dirt and
soil. The zoo s main attraction, Mali a 40 year old elephant is housed in an
enclosure too small for her. Like the monkeys cages, Mali s pen has concrete
flooring. It also lacks natural elements such as plants, trees, logs and such to
resemble an elephant s natural habitat. Mali s pen looks very gloomy and boring.
The tiger enclosures also look sad as its yet again concrete flooring is covered with
dead leaves from dying trees. There were photos were posted in a destination review
site by visitors wherein the tigers were pictured surrounded by trash while sleeping.

Holy Trinity Orthodox Church
I have always had a deep reverence for the Virgin Mary. This is most likely due to
my Roman Catholic upbringing but, besides the point, in my eyes, she embodies
everything of importance in the Christian faith. In her story, she is revered by those
who know her, disdained by those who do not, and, for me, personally, the one
remaining connection I feel with Christendom. The importance of this comes into
play when I entered the Holy TrinityOrthodox Church. I was not expecting to see
and hear Mary venerated so highly. The first thing I saw upon walking in the entry
way of the church were two icons, one of the adult Jesusand one of Mary, which is
not entirely unusual, and I gave it a slight nod of respect. It wasn t until I entered into

I was greeted by, and conversed with, different patrons on each of my visits. This is
unusual for me because I typically am not approached by strangers, I am not
complaining. I was also offered unconsecrated bread by different practitioners on each
visit which was the best tasting bread I have had during a church service. The thing
that impressed me most, however, was the church member s commitment to their
surrounding community. They welcome anyone to their services, to the coffee hour
afterward, to their annual block party, which they host, and to their harvest Sundays,
where they collect food from their patrons and feed the local homeless population.
The connection with their surrounding neighborhood is strong, but what is truly
unique is the connection the congregation has with one another. For example, on the
first Sunday I attended after the service was completed I remained in the nave to
photograph and watch the community. I talked to one man about his conversion to
Orthodoxy as the priest was consoling a young man who seemed distraught. This
seemed to change the church from its ritual space to a community space of self or

Ireland Fits Well Into Arend Lijphart s Consensus Model...
Scotland fits well into Arend Lijphart s consensus model of democracy, however
only to a certain extent. Arend Lijphart s strategy of the consensus model is how
majoritarian a government is. The consensus model aims to share out power so that it
is not all down to the one governing party. The consensus model is very important
when it comes to Scotlandas it can be argued that is only effective for highly divided
societies. There are a few significant elements such as party systems, proportional
representation and the comparison between the Scotland and New Zealand which
will be investigated in this essay.
Arend Lijphart could argue that Scotland is moving away from a firm two party
system and drawing closer towards a multi party system. Currently in Scotland, the
Scottish National Party (SNP) is the largest party in the country, with two medium
parties which are the Scottish Conservatives and Unionist Party along with the
Scottish Labour Party. Moreover, the shape in which the Scottish Parliamentwas
designed is to promote consensus and grown up debate rather than the set up of
Westminster as it a confrontational style of politics. There are also two smaller
parties which are the Scottish Green Party and the Scottish Liberal Democrats. The
multiparty system enables more than one party to take charge of the country as it is
trying to get as many people as possible governing for the country which can be
extremely beneficial as it allows power sharing and therefore in time
Determining The Efficiency Of A Protocol
6.2RESULTS
6.2.1 Simulation matrix
There are number of metrics which are helpful for deciding the efficiency of a
protocol. In this work the parameters used to evaluate the efficiency of a protocol are
the packet delivery ratio, packet statistics in the network and the throughput of the
network. The protocols AODV and AODVBC are checked against these parameters
for their performance. Packet delivery ratio of the network is improved as the mobility
with respect to the number of nodes changes. Increase in the PDR (Packet delivery
ratio is because of the less number of packet drops when AODVBC is used. Fig. 4
justifies the better performance of AODVBC routing protocol over AODV protocol in
terms of less number of packets drop.
AODV and AODVBC protocol has been tasted over nine different scenes of 10

Many animals have potty mistakes in their lifetime. It is the owner s responsibility to
teach them proper ways of potty training, with that said, physical punishment is never
an option in the house training process!
2.When training your K 9, one must first choose a specific spot in the yard they
would like their dog to take care of their business . If your dog is a puppy, keep
him in a certain section of the house before taking him outside. Puppies should not
be able to have free reign over the entire house at a young age. Every 60 minutes
take your dog to the designated potty area and repeat a cue word such as Go potty
or hurry up , it is important to pick only one phrase and say repeatedly during this
process (Harris). Once your K 9 takes care of business, repeat the cue word loudly
and enthusiastically praise and reward your dog with a treat.
3.Teaching your K 9 to ask to go outside to potty is simple, attach a string with a
bell to your door handle around the height of your dog s nose and when taking
your dog outside, ring the bell and use a key word such as go potty . This should
take around a week or two for the dog to catch on, and soon enough, your pet will be
notifying you every time he or she wishes to go outside.
Transition to 2nd main point: Now that we ve talked about Potty training, we can talk
about Bark control.

Peter and John haven t taken into account the need to produce such large quantities

High School Is The Best 4 Years Of Their Life
Many people will say that high school was the best 4 years of their life. Many will
say they were the worst. Having the high school experience is almost like a rite of
passage. I will never get the typical high school experience, because I go to FAU
High School. FAU High is a high school hosted by Florida Atlantic University where
students get to be full time college students, while earning high schoolcredits. We
work towards both our high school degree and a college degree at the same time.
While outsiders may see FAU High as daunting and secluding, I find it supportive.
The way in which FAU High School students are supportive of each other makes me
feel like I belong to a community.
To me, community is a place where you feel comfortable and supported. I asked
some fellow students what being part of the FAU High community meant to them
and answers included It means being surrounded by kind people. I know that I can
ask FAU High students in my classes for help if I am struggling and they will be
more than willing to help me, and it means never having to eat lunch alone. When I
walk into the food court, I see fellow FAU High students everywhere, and I know
they would welcome me to eat with them. Once we are on the college campus in
tenth grade, everybody feels apart of the community. Even students that drop out in
ninth grade are reluctant to do so, as they are doing it for academic reasons, and not
social.

The Ten Facets Of The Christian Life
The text has presented the twelve facets of the Christian life (Boa, 2001). The idea of
a multi faceted gem to compartmentalize different components of faith is helpful
when looking to the future. Each part is unique but holds together the entirety. I can
see how my faith is the entire gem and I can work on each facet to complete and
complement my whole being. My spiritual life, current schooling, future working life,
and married life are interconnected but can be individually enhanced at different
times.
Spiritual Life Christian faith is a defining aspect or facet of my identity. I have

the idea that I the beloved of God and as such should carry myself with confidence

insight of why we need the Holy Spirit when facing the conflicts and challenges of
life, especially if they are demonic in nature. Dependence on the Holy Spirit for
guidance is becoming a higher priority as I am becoming more aware through this

and the gift of Jesus can be done quietly or loudly, I believe I will continue to be

The Negative Effects Of Bilingualism In Education
In a country such as Canada, having two official languages makes it nearly
impossible to avoid the topic of bilingualism. Anyone who grew up through education
system in Ontario likely has strong opinions about the value of being able to speak
both English and French fluently. Those opinions may be strengthened further once a
resident is faced with the challenge of deciding which educational stream to apply
their children to. Immigrant families have it more difficult in that their children are
already learning their native languageand English when they arrive, and then they
may be required start learning French as well. Along with these social implications
of bilingual learning, there are also psychological issues that come up. There are
helpful effects and some that are not so helpful that result from trying to learn two
languages, this paper serves as a means to display both the benefits and the
drawbacks related to bilingualism and the bilingual learning process.
Learning more than one language at once constantly requires that the learner be
incredibly adaptable and responsive. This means that their executive control system is
much more stimulated while learning than that of their fellow students who
participate in a monolingual program. If this is indeed the case, it could also be that
this more active system is strengthened, giving a student in such a program an
advantage over other students (Bialystok, 2008). If implemented properly, many of

How Karl Mark Views Was Influenced By Views Of The...
In order to make a connection of how Karl Mark views, was in some way, influenced
by certain views of the Enlightenment. But, first, we need to understand what
characteristics we can compare of the two. The idea of Enlightenment was an
intellectual movement that took place around the late 17th and 18th centuries. This
movement had placed emphasis on progress, social structure, materialism, state and
individualism. From class lectures and from the readings of the Communist
Manifesto, we can derive the idea that Marx was against social class. With Marx
understanding the dire need of reform within the social structure, he believed in a
form of equality for all, stating that not one person would be higher than the other.

It was the idea that you are literally taking the lower class of people, the people who
are non land owner, who have no wealth, and now could have a say in government
affairs, in comparison to those who do have the wealth and are landowners. This
idea is now providing the lower class people the power of decision making, the
power of influence. This idea of a democratic state was seen as perhaps, the most
radical of all thoughts of a state.
3.
If we can take Marx s and Engel s phrase of dictatorship of the proletariat, it can be
interpreted as the state s power is in the control of the working people, not the
higher classes. This idea was directed towards having finally separated capitalism
and communism. According to spunk, a website I ve found, it states that it is the
vehicle of abolishing the state (spunk.org). The necessity of having the phrase
dictatorship of the proletariat was to create a progressive life for the workers, an
equality way of living and ruling. On the same website it states that the need to
create this proletariat led state, was to ...suppress capitalist resistance, and develop
the nationalized means of production as rapidly as possible in order to overcome
relative scarcity and shorten the workday, this allowing all workers to participate in
the affairs of society (Spunk.org). 4.
The Marxist concept of withering away of the state, is in reference to the idea of

Reflection Paper On Sandwich Island
The voyage to the Sandwich Islands was rigorous and we lost some men on the
way, but I m so glad to finally be on a piece of land again. I have changed now that I
ve seen the eyes of death. Life seemed pointless till we arrived at the Islands.
Currently, we are on the island of Oahu and the scenery is beautiful. The palm
trees sway like the hips of the Hawaiian dancers, and the foliage has vibrant colors
and unlike any I ve seen before. I just wanted to let you know that I ve grown six
inches and gained muscle along the trip to the islands. My long blond hair is as
fresh as the morning breeze, and my blue eyes still match that of the sea. Our crew
stopped at the Sandwich Islands to refit our ships before going whaling. This place is
brilliantly convenient for whalers like ourselves. Also, the weather is delightful and
frequently warm and enjoyable. The food on this islandis delicious! We stock up on
many foods that are limited to these islands, and the natives openly share their food
and treat us like we fit in. My friend John and a couple others decided to quit the
crew and live with the natives so that they could escape from work. I am
disappointed in the fact that they are just throwing away their lives and living on
some new island. I wish you could be here and see this paradise for yourself. The
Sandwich Islands are a beautiful place to be and it s amazing how it has changed
ever since we came. I can t believe the recent changes that have occurred now that we

A Stress And Coping Theory Proposed That Stress From...
A stress and coping theory proposed that stress from social and environmental
factors underlie how detrimental romantic relationships can be on young female s
mental health (Brooks Gunn Warren, 1989). This suggests that females maturing
earlier than males, are genetically pre disposed to be vulnerable to stress during this
period. Research has found that females carrying a specific short allele are
genetically predisposed to depression, following stress related incidences. This is
because the short allele is sensitive to interpersonal stressors that result from
romantic conflict (Starr, Hammer, Brennan Najman, 2012; Vrshek Schallhorn et
al. 2014). Romantic relations could increase the risk of depression more by the
stress produces and because younger girls do not possess adequate coping skills,
they are unable to deal with the stress (Starr Hammen 2016). Neurobiological
processes such as brain development was suggested as a risk factor for depression
development in romantically involved, early adolescent girls. Early, adolescent
girl s brains are still developing so they do not have the required skills to self
regulate (limit the extent you are affected) romantic relationship stress (Sowell et al.,
1999; Larson Clore Wood). Caspi et al. (2003) stated that romantic relationships are
perceived as challenging and young females do not possess the skills to cope with
romantic stress. Consequently a girl s first romantic relationship is suggested to be the

whether it is a learned trait. Resilience can be found in everyone. Some people have

paper as well.
Resilience is described as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity,
trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress (American Psychological
Association, 2016). Resilience is an ordinary thing in human beings. It is often
described as bouncing back, which refers to bouncing back from difficult times or
stressful situations. As a person grows older resilience grows as well. A person s
past can most certainly affect how a person uses resiliency in the present. If a
person is not affected negatively a lot in their past when it comes time for a person
to bounce back, they will not bounce back as smoothly as a person who has had a
very traumatic past and has learned how to bounce back in a smoother fashion.
The Realm Of Mobile Communication
Mobile Forensics is an interdisciplinary field consisting of techniques applied to a
wide range of devices. Mobile devices have become a very significant part of
people s lives and they contain a variety of information about the owner and their
activities. As a result of mobile devices being a part of every aspect of our lives, it
becomes more likely that they will be involved in a crime that may occur.
Furthermore, because technology related to mobile devices is rapidly evolving,
disciplines in this field is continuously improving. Recently, a substantial amount of
research has been conducted, concerning various mobile device, data acquisition,
and extraction methods. By conducting this research, it has provides a
comprehensive overview of the field. The aim of the digital forensics of mobile
phones is to recover potential digital evidence in a forensically sound manner so
that it can be presented and accepted in court. The realm of mobile communication
has evolved at a rapid pace in recent years. Cellular devices have developed from a
tool used largely for emergency communication to an apparatus that many individuals
could not survive without. In today s technologically advanced world, cellular
devices are used in more ways than to simply communicate. Because mobile phones
are now capable of performing much more than simply making and receiving calls or
sending and receiving text messages, they have begun to replace many other personal
devices and in turn,
Marquis In A Tale Of Two Cities
The Marquis deserved to be assassinated for not only killing a child but also
committing other heinous crimes. In the book A Tale of Two Cities by Charles
Dickens the most prominent theme found was revenge. Revenge was not taken
lightly, it was more of the slap you in the face as karma hits you or some person
will pay for wronging you. In the beginning, they find out how monsieur of the hot
chocolate won t give any favors to the marquis because he had done so many
wrong things. The marquis speeds away in his carriage not paying attention to what
is to come and kills Gaspard s child. He then tells Gaspard it s his fault for not
watching the child. Later, they find the marquis dead in bed and they go searching
for who could have done this. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Henry Viii s Second Pregnancy
February of 1518 brought with it the announcement of a royal pregnancy. Catherine
of Aragon, Henry VIII s first wife, announced her sixth pregnancy[]. Not unlike her
previous five pregnancies, this one was greeted with as much, if not more caution
than excitement. Henry VIII wanted nothing more than to produce a son to carry on
his name and to continue the Tudor dynasty, and until this point, he and Catherine had
not been granted that luxury. After two stillborns, two infant deaths, and the birth of
one daughter, Mary, the hope that Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragonwould produce
a son was all but diminished. That hope was not soon restored, as Catherine
delivered a girl on the Tenth of November in 1518, and the infant died within hours of
her birth.
Henry VIII s marriage to Catherine of Aragon had often been described as
unusually good by the people they interacted with in daily life[]. They slept
together often, they spent a lot of time together outside of their regular royal duties,
and they seemed to get along together quite well. However, not unlike most kings
in that time, Henry VIII did carry on affairs with other women. His most notable
affair while married to Catherine was with Elizabeth Blount, who was a lady in
waiting to the Queen. While most of Henry s affairs were short lived, his
relationship with Elizabeth Blount lasted close to eight years []. In June of 1519,
Blount gave birth to healthy boy, and the boy was named Henry.
Although Henry VIII had

The disorder I will be focusing on is Major Depressive Disorder. Major Depressive
Disorder, also known as major depression, has been a continuing health problem for
human beings throughout the course of history. According to documents written by
philosophers, healers and other writers, depression has had a deep rooted existence
dating as far back as the second millennium B.C. At this time, Major Depressive
Disorder was referred to as melancholia. The earliest documentation of melancholia
appeared in the ancient texts of the Mesopotamian population. It was then believed
that all mental illness was a result of demonic possession and could only be healed by
the power of a priest. It was not until much later that the first historical understanding
of depression as a spiritual or mental illness was recorded. According to historical
documentation, populations such as the ancient Greeks, Romans, Chinese and
Egyptian civilizations had controversial thinking about the causes of melancholia, or
depression. The Chinese and Egyptian cultures believed that their mentally ill were
possessed by demons and practiced exorcism techniques such as beatings, restraint
and starvation. Unlike the Chinese and Egyptians, the Romans and Greeks
contributed mental illness and depression to biological and psychological disease.

listening to the lyrics very closely. It s more about how lyrics sound than what they
mean. Meaning you can say one thing but if you want more attention to the
audience, you have to emphasize on what you re saying. And that s what Adele
does in most of her songs. People have a deep investment in her music; a personal
stake in things that have affected her life and what she s made of them artistically.
There are a few things people truly have to understand how Adele s image

Arguments For Drug Reform Essay
The argument over drug reform and the current prohibition has been going on for
years. It seems to be an argument between a wise parent and a young teenager, but as
generations change more and more of the parents seem to switch sides. While
prohibitionists say the mainstream drugs like cocaine, heroin, LSD, and marijuana
are harmful and immoral, legalizers argue the opposite (Rachels 223). While they are
both valid and interesting arguments the drugs named above still remain illegal.
Many organizations and respected citizens have come to America s attention in their
support for drugreform or complete legalization of certain drugs. These people range
from normal citizens who support the recreational use of marijuana to judges and ex
law... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some prohibitionists just believe that drugs are immoral. An extremely outspoken
opponent of decriminalizing drugs is William J. Bennett who said, Law
enforcement is not a political option or a policy question; it is a moral imperative
(Gottfried 76). Prohibitionists also believe if drugs were made legal they would be
cheaper and more readily available and they are afraid that children could be at risk
(Gottfried 77).
Citizens who are for the reform of marijuana or any drug have obvious opposite
feelings towards the previous statements. First of all citizens for drug reform state
that although marijuana causes adverse health effects so do many other activities
that are perfectly legal. Should the government outlaw alcohol, tobacco, and
having unprotected and promiscuous sex (Rachels 224)? Also, the claim that
drugs cause harm to family and friends can be rebutted with the fact that people are
harmful to family and friends without the influence of drugs (Rachels 228 229).
Alcohol is a completely legal drug and many people are killed in car accidents
involving drunk drivers, yet alcohol is still not outlawed. In no way am I condoning
driving under the influence, but it is a thought provoking argument. A great
argument made by supporters of drug reform is a question posed by Michael
Huemer. He says is it unjust for the state to punish people without having a good
reason for doing so? (Rachels 229). With valid

Discuss the conflict that is occurring at General Hospital.
The conflict that is occurring at General Hospital is simply a case of making the
right financial decisions and man vs. computer. What I mean by that is, in trying to

He can then utilize the appropriate negotiation strategy to achieve a win win
situation. For example with the physician controlled cost being addressed step by
step, one physician at a time and the theory of cost containment steps that he
developed being also addressed his argument will then be capable of showing how
the hospital will still be able to function as if the old methods were still in place and
then show how the hospital would have a chance of turning things around. Then he
can format a plan of action that will help them achieve this goal. Once this has been
fully negotiated upon and an agreement has been reached he is then ready to present
the final plan of action to the staff (board) and began making the necessary changes.
Recommend a strategy for Hammer to resolve the problem.
Instead of utilizing the Distributive negotiations strategy with the good cop bad cop
approach that clearly didn t work, I would recommend the Integrative negotiations
strategy. This will allow all parties or departments involved to identify the problems,
assess alternatives, discuss the pros and cons, and reach an agreement between all
parties that would work for the hospital.
Sometimes management decisions and conflict resolutions are impossible to be
resolved by one or two individuals. Team work should always be an alternative to
find the answer in company issues on any level. Managers should have the knowledge

La County Fair Research Paper
Getting Lost at the L.A County Fair I turned around and at that moment I realized
I was lost. Field Trips are always exciting growing up because it s a day off of school
until you get lost. I always looked forward to going on field trips growing up. To
me it was an opportunity to miss class but also learn new exciting things. Every year
in middle school, my school went to the Los Angeles County Fairin the beginning of
September. Since it was the beginning of the school year, it was a fun time
considering this is the most exciting field tripall year. There was this feeling about
this field trip that it was going to be different.

I knew I had to find my group and fast, so I put my stuff in my bag and looked for
them. I first looked to see if they went to the other side, surprise they weren t there. I
went to the last place we went, they weren t there. I decided to check to see if they
went to another dinosaur, no sign of them. I went back to where I was in the first
place. I was walking and at the corner of my eye, I saw a person from my group
looking at some artifacts. I went over there and saw the rest of my group. I became
relieved to see them. My friend asked me, where I did I go? And I told her, that I
was still writing down facts when they left me. At that point I realized, that they
may have left me on purpose because I wasn t with them. Despite whatever the
reason was I had to make sure I was around my group at all times. After that scary
experience, we enjoyed ourselves and got food and ride on a few fair rides.
This trip was unlike any other ones.Getting lost at such a big place, was a scary
experience. This is a moment, that I will always remember that changed my
outlook on people. No matter what, I learned to put the past behind me and be
cautious of my surroundings. I guess that it just shows to make sure you know
where everyone is at all times because you never know what can and will happen.
From this experience, I learned to keep up with my group at all times and make
sure I don t get left behind even if I don t like the people I m working with. This

Who was Joseph McCarthy?
amp;#9;Joseph R. McCarthy was born in 1908 on a family farm in Wisconsin. He
went to a country school and decided he was done with his education at the young
age of 14. After that, he explained to his family that he was finished with his studies
and wanted to become a farmer like his father.
amp;#9;Joe began a profitable business of raising chickens after borrowing a plot
of land from his father. Unfortunately, Joe became very ill and his business
perished. Joe decided that he would go to work. At age 19 he became the manager of

lucky though, because La Follette decided that he would not try to hard and only
campaigned for a few weeks. After all of his hard work, Joe won the election and got
the chair for Junior Senator from Wisconsin. Joseph R. McCarthy was now on the
road to the beggining of his senetorial career.
amp;#9;His early years in the senate were unimpressive, but in 1949, with an
increasingly anti communist political atmosphere at home, McCarthy found a cause.
This cause was discovered on the night of January 7, 1950. McCarthy was having
dinner at a resturant when one of his dinner guests brought up the issue of
communism. McCarthy loved this idea right from the start and vowed to bring down
all of the communists in the United States Government.
amp;#9;In February of 1950, in Wheeling, West Virginia, McCarthy delivered a
speech where he made the first of a series of claims that he had the names of 205
quot;known communists quot; who were employed by the State Department. This

Reflective Essay Sample.pdf

  • 1. Reflective Essay Sample Crafting a reflective essay can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a delicate balance between introspection, articulation, and organization of thoughts. Unlike other forms of academic writing, a reflective essay demands a deep exploration of personal experiences, emotions, and insights. This task can be particularly demanding as it requires the writer to delve into their own thoughts, feelings, and experiences, making the process inherently subjective. One of the complexities lies in finding the right tone – not too self-indulgent, yet not overly detached. Striking this balance is crucial to engage the reader while maintaining the reflective nature of the essay. Additionally, selecting the most relevant experiences and insights to include in the essay adds another layer of difficulty. It involves careful consideration of the impact each event had on personal growth and learning. Moreover, the process of self-reflection itself can be challenging, as it requires a certain level of vulnerability and honesty. Confronting personal strengths and weaknesses, acknowledging mistakes, and extracting meaningful lessons can be an emotionally taxing process. Structuring the essay is yet another hurdle. Balancing the chronological order of events with thematic connections can be tricky. The narrative should flow seamlessly, guiding the reader through the reflective journey without losing coherence or focus. Furthermore, expressing abstract concepts and emotions in a clear and concise manner is an ongoing challenge. Finding the right words to articulate complex thoughts and feelings can be frustrating, leading to multiple revisions and edits. In conclusion, writing a reflective essay is a demanding task that requires a unique set of skills. It involves a deep dive into one's own experiences, emotions, and thoughts while maintaining a thoughtful and engaging narrative. Striking the right balance, structuring the essay effectively, and expressing oneself clearly adds to the complexity of the task. For those seeking assistance with similar essays or any other writing challenges, there are resources available, such as HelpWriting.net, where a variety of writing services can be explored to ease the burden of such demanding assignments. • 2. Monsanto Research Paper MON87705, commercially Vistive Gold , also known as Improved Fatty Acid Profile Soybean MON 87705, is one of Monsanto s Round up ready type GMOs. In the soybean, three genes were modified in three different areas. Glyphosate, a competitive inhibitor for phosphoenolpyruvate, is a commonly used herbicide that increases a farmer s yield. However, this herbicideis fatal to plants if too much is used. Glyphosateinterferes with the biosynthesis of the aromatic amino acids phenylalanine, tyrosine, and tryptophan, which are only synthesized in plants and microorganisms. In Monsanto s genetically modified soybean, the CP4 EPSPS Agrobacterium gene (5 enolpyruvylshikimate 3 phosphate synthase) is incorporated. The CP4 ESPS gene is used as a selectable marker to identify transgenic plants during the transformation process. The insertion of this gene... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Indoor growing has virtually no risk of having any weeds growing in the first place, so herbicides would not be needed in that situation. Also, recently, there is a new invention called the Harrington Seed Destructor. In Australia, resistant weeds have taken most of Western Australia. Since Australian farmers turned to using herbicides, the weeds have quickly become multiresistant to at least four classes of herbicides in a matter of years. The only herbicide classes, called Photosystem II and long chain fatty acid inhibitors remain effective everywhere. However, non chemical ways of disposing with weeds, such as ryegrass, have been effectively destroying 95% of the ryegrass population, also returning the nutrients from the chaff of the weed back into the soil. Using these two solutions, farmers can grow Genetically Modified Seeds without trouble, and retain the benefits of the GMOs without receiving the bad
  • 3. My First Day At School I entered the school and the hot air hits my face. There are lots of people there, smiling. I didn t know if it was a fake smile, but it made me feel welcomed. I went into the office to get my schedule. When I got it I went directly to my Science classroom and sat in my seat. The teacher called me up to introduce myself. Great, just what I wanted, to make a fool out of myself on the first day. My face felt numb and I wanted to go home. I went up and felt my voice struggling to get out, my body trembling as if I just fell into a tub of water. My first words came out M.....M.....My name s Jeff. At that moment I thought that I was done for, I was walking back to my seat, and I thought that I heard laughter. My face went red hot, and I thought that I was going to flip out, I just held it all in and started to listen as the teacher talked. My skin went hot and red. I just wanted to go back home. I sat in my seat and listened as the teacher talked, trying hard not to make any eye contact, then it happened, the bell rang it was lunchtime, the other worst possible thing that could happen, I didn t know where to sit, I hadn t made any friends. I went to the cafe and let my eyes gaze over the people that were there. Then I heard, Jeff, over here, the thing that I was least expecting, happened, I got invited to sit with them. We talked and ate, after that, we went outside, it was cold and made my hands numb and dry, I asked them if we could go inside, but they said that they wanted

The film is a standard love story with music and comedy. Rydell High school The soundtrack and dance sequences Have you ever heard of the movie called Grease? Grease is an interesting movie because Grease is a standard love story with music and comedy. The movie mainly takes place at the Rydell High school, it s where they went to school and how Danny and Sandy reunited. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Danny Zuko mainly cared about what people thought about him and his reputation. Though his style is like he s cruising for a bruisin. What i like about Betty Rizzo is that she doesn t care of what people think about her, but what I don t like is that she acts like a spoiled little girl who always wants it her way. I like that Kenickie is a greaser type a guy and what I don t like is that he sometimes tries to act like Danny. What I like about Frenchy is that she is full of joy, but it s when she really acts like an airhead that I don t like. What I like about Leo Balmudo is that he has a nice car, but that he is against the T Birds. What I mainly like about the story line is that Danny and Sandy fall in love and they try to change themselves to fit into each other s lifestyles. Plus how the music fit in well with it too. What I don t like about the story line is that it s cliche and predictable. The time zone it was based off of is that it was in the 50 s and I like that it was based off the 50 s because it gives out that it could be a classic. Now onto the Conclusion where I ll be describing who would or would not like this
  • 5. Book Of Ecclesiastes Research Paper The book of Ecclesiastes is one of the unique pieces of literature in the Old Testament, the author of the book takes a very interesting view on life and wisdom that makes the reader take a deeper look into life itself. The author is believed to be Solomon, who wrote the book late in his life, around 935 B.C. (Smith) Solomon describes his personal experience and disappointments with life, as he states: I have seen all the works which have been done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and striving after the wind (Ecclesiastes 1:14) This relates to everyone still today, how people try to strive for success in their jobs, to make more money, and all their labor is useless at the end of their life. As Solomon had become an old man he had tried every earthly pleasure under the sun, he had experienced everything he ever wanted to and gained wisdom from those experiences, and that too he states is folly. I don t believe he was saying that wisdom is a bad thing, what he was saying is that credit is not always given where credit is due. Barksdale 2 Meaning that human nature does not always appreciate wise counsel, even if its value is proven without a doubt. Though Solomon s wisdom came through sin and sensuality, he had tasted every evil desire that he had wanted to. He did not gain his wisdom through wise teachings and counsel, and doing the right thing all the time; his wisdom was through experiences of useless sinful activities. About midway through the book, the author Solomon switches from proverbs of wisdom to poetry, why is this? Some believe the teacher had stopped analyzing the dilemma of life and wanted to start giving practical advice. Others see the poetry in the later chapters of the book as perhaps somewhat of

Personal Factors Affecting Legal Consciousness What good is a Bill of Rights that does not include the right to play, to wander, to explore, the rights to stillness and solitude, to discovery and physical freedom? Erik D. Fritsvold Legal consciousness is the summation of views and/or ideas that are expressed by a person in regards to law, litigation, and the justice system as a whole. This can also be viewed as an opinion a single person has about what is constituted as right and what is wrong . Your legal consciousness is heavily influenced by your identity and the factors that make up your identity; upbringing, social location, relationships, environment and personal experiences. I got to see first hand how the law worked, how litigation occurred, and the important aspects of the current justice system that many people do not often see. My views on these things could be different than someone else who wasn t brought up in that environment and their views on this same subject. The way you were raised, who you are, what you believe, and the influences that are working around you is all part of your upbringing. I was speaking with a classmate last week when he mentioned to me a law that he thought was true. He mentioned that if you get pulled over by a law enforcement officer for suspected DWI, and refuse the Breathalyzer, they cannot arrest you or do anything to you. Having grown up around law enforcement

Goal three by the National Patient Safety Goal for 2014 is to use medicines safely. One process that Joint Commission requires in accredited HCO s is medication reconciliation creating the most accurate list possible off all medications a patient is taking, including drug name, dosage, frequency, and route, and comparing that list against the physician s admission, transfer, and/or discharge orders with the goal of providing correct medications to the patients at all transition points within the hospital (Finkelman Kenner, 2012, p. 388) . He uses these devices in order to appeal to the audience and to make his text sound more credible. A example of logos is, As of 1973, the U.S. had a population of 210 million people, who were increasing by 0.8 percent per year. Outside our lifeboat, let us imagine another 210 million people (say the combined populations of Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Morocco, Pakistan, Thailand and the Philippines) who are increasing at a rate of 3.3 percent per year. Throughout the text Medicine Grizzly Bear Lake was very formal and respectful. This is a key step in insuring to get the teacher s attention and try to persuade her. In the following paragraphs I will explain how his son learned, and also how Medicine Grizzly Bear Lake could improve his argument. Medicine Grizzly Bear Lake s son is named Wind Wolf. His teacher would call him wind thinking wolf was a middle name. He insisted that she would call ind wolf because it was his full name. Wind Wolf was raised by an indian family this is one of the reasons why he was taught differently. By doing so he is not used to and does not fully understand the way that people teach him in a public school. He grew up learning differently, so that does not mean that he is wrong when he answers a question, since he learned differently it could have been right. For example, in the text there is an example of this type of situation. If you ask him how many months there are in a year, he will probably tell you thirteen. He will respond this way not because he doesn t know how to count properly, but because he has been
  • 9. I Am Malala Argumentative Essay Argumentative Essay Do we determine our own destinies, or are we powerless to change them? Before I state my opinion, let s talk about what destiny means. Destiny are the events that will necessarily happen to a particular person or thing in the future. Most people get destiny and fate confused. I believe that you can t change your destiny but you can change your fate. A good person who really represents destiny and fate is Malala from the book I am Malala . By fate she was supposed to be your stereotypical Muslim girl. The stereotype was usually women in some countries are minimized and have limited rights. • 10. Being A Bartender Research Paper Bartending is a highly competitive career between young and old adults. Many college student rely on being a bartender as their main source of income. In many ways, some might say I have the perfect job. I succeed to work in an upbeat atmosphere, meet new people, and sample some treasured spirits. Most of the time you can find me laughing with guests while mixing their favorite cocktails on the menu. I play host to their party and gatekeeper to their alcohol. Some will try to make friends with me in hopes of free drinks in the future. Although this may sound like the perfect career there are some disadvantages. Before quitting your day job, here are a few points to consider. Some of the disadvantages are working late hours, dealing with a stressful work environment, and inconsistent pay. To begin, being a bartender will have you putting in the late night work hours. Being a night owl is an understatement in this career. I do not think about saving money, being that I am not waiting on a paycheck. With this in mind, there are slow periods during the year when income can be sparse. I discontinue spending money when I do not have the usual amount of income. I struggle through weeks where I earn $400, and others upwards of $900. It is difficult to base your bills on what you are earning. It is also harder to get a loan for anything because there is such inconsistency in
  • 11. Pros And Cons Of Coal Many places are known for many things, and West Virginia is known for its coal. As much as a television remote needs batteries, West Virginia needed coal in its early statehood. Coal has recently been the subject of chaos in many circles around the state. Many believe we should bleed, breathe, and breed coal. While others realize that coal is dangerous and is on its way out the door. As everything else in the world coal has its Pro s and Con s. For example, coal is a cheaper alternative to creating heat which maintains electricity. Though you may pollute the air with a high concentrate of sulfur in which coal releases. Many miners believe that in 2001 coal regulation took a turn for the worst. Instead of the state inspectors coming to give the mines plaques for various achievements such as employee not being hurt, they come now to fine and attempt to shut down these mines. According to a set group of individuals, the reason for this is, the UMWA now only covers around 15% of all miners. With the lost revenue, the UMW is now targeting these mines. The response, giving by the UMW is far too many lives have been claimed due to negligence s and they are tired of hearing stories like this: Over the years, these mines have produced the wages for many a coal miner to buy his daughter a doll house at Christmas, a new family car or a trip to Florida during a miners vacation, such as my father had first done for our family in 1949. They also took their share of coal miners lives. My own grandfather was one of those who was taken early in life when he was killed in a rock fall at the No. 6 mines in 1936 when my dad was just a boy. The grim statistics of those lost lives have helped forge new mine safety laws which have saved countless others. For that reason, I believe coal is dead for good. The biggest clue we have is that the states that rely on coal heavily are now in debt. For many states, they look at the national debt, yet we are in a crisis of our own. This is evident by our recent 300+ million dollar budget cut. Even with plans such as the rainy day funds
  • 12. Movie Analysis of Jaws Essay Movie Analysis of Jaws Martin Brody is the new police chief trying to rid Amity Island of a savage shark terrorising the islanders and tourists alike in the 1976 thriller, Jaws. Jaws was directed by Steven Spielberg and starred Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss. Amity Island relies almost fully on the income gained by tourists visiting the island in the summer vacation. It is up to Martin Brody to protect the beach goers by finding the shark and killing it. However it also shows tension as during the silence the audience do not know if another attack is going to happen. The second attack is on a small boy in the sea at a crowded beach on Amity Island. It starts with the young boy asking his mother if he can go back into the sea. We then see Brody sat on the beach watching out for sharks. The camera does a long shot of Brody s point of view, which we see a woman screaming. This makes us think that the girl is being attacked when she is not, this builds up tension because it hasn t happened yet and we know it will do we just don t no when. Using the wide angle shot of the shows us how big the sea is and how vulnerable people are in it. It then shows a boy running back into the water using mid range shot with the boy on the lilo n the background and the children in the fore ground. This makes us uneasy because there is a lot of splashing which means if the shark was to be there it would be camouflaged and also the splashing attracts sharks. Next, there is a close up shot of a small child singing, seeing the small child singing is calming which lulls us into a false sense of security, making the imminent attack scarier as you do not expect it. A view from under the water is then given from the shark s point of view showing legs. This gives us the signal that something

Moreover, there is an unfavorable variance of $200 from the static budget and this is due to the increase in the Labor cost. But when it comes to the gas and oil there has been a decrease, which cause $1100 favorable variance. So the difference between the actual operating profits and the static budgeting for April is $49100 ($50,000U + $200U $1100F). In my opinion almost of all the differences between the actual operating profits and the static budgeting for April is due to the reduced cart rentals from 6000 to 4000. When we compare the flexible budgetwith the actual results, there is an unfavorable variance of $200, this is due to the increase in the Labor cost and also there is an unfavorable variance of $900 from the flexible budget and this is because gas and oil were over the budget. In the case of flexible budget, labor, gas and oil were over the budget which cause unfavorable variance of $1100 ($200 + $900). The $200 unfavorable variance in labor is probably insignificant and the $900 gas and oil difference is likely a timing difference between when the gas and oil are purchased and when they are actually used. b. Advantages More accurate when compare to the static budget It is easy to control the costs and easy to evaluate the profits. Can make adjustments for the predictions Easy to adapt to the

Understanding Schizophrenia from the Mind of a Mental Health Victim Themselves With basic information on what this mental illness is, to understand Schizophrenia further, research into personal encounters became apparent. After looking into the mind of Ian Chovil who was a victim of the mental health disease and finding his accounts very eccentric it is clear that this is something that could quite possibly affect the brains of the people that commit serious crimes in regards to the Media. Ian says in his story a few things which connect this type of mental health to violent obscure behaviour. He says he had delusions right from the start which after reading his story states, progressed from visions of famous persons trying to force him to commit suicide right to the later stages of his schizophrenia where he says he got a lot of messages from favourite Rock and Rolla songs, movies, cartoons and library books. Ian doesn t say these forms of media forced him to murder innocent people but it does provide evidence that he received messages. These messages in the mind of another schizophrenic could lead to serious acts of violence which leads onto the next part of his story where he mentions how his delusions changed as aliens instructed him on the real nature of reality then three things happened as contact with reality became very tenuous, he got into trouble with the law, became an alcoholic and lost his job. Weaknesses of IR Although there are a lot of strengths for IR, it is not the silver bullet that will completely change accounting forever. One of the main weaknesses of IR is the expenses that come with measuring such a comprehensive range of factors that include non monetary factors that can be hard to actually measure (Eccles Krzus, 2010). It can be unappealing for smaller companies or organisations to set up all of these systems in order to provide a wider perspective of their business or organisation just to please stakeholders, when the costs will outweigh the potential profits of attracting new investors. Another issue would be potential information overload for less knowledgeable individuals who will simply be overwhelmed by all the information provided by IR. There is a question of how important is it to report more comprehensively if the end user will simply be unable to use all of the information to their advantage, which raises another question of if it is worth reporting in an IR format at all. Time is also a major issue for some companies who may have less labour to spare in order to report on what can be considered less important aspects of an organisation, especially if it is a small to medium sized enterprise. There have been reports of some integrated reports being three times as longer than estimated to be completed (Eccles Saltzman, 2011). It can be very hard to justify allocating that many hours to prepare a report that some may find unnecessary or

The clock was made initially created by concerned scientists on the nuclear bomb and its implications on society. There were several different ideas proposed to measure how close mankind was to its destruction, but the clock was chosen as the most suitable one. [11] The idea which prevailed was that nuclear weapons would bring about the destruction of human race sooner or later and the clock was a measure of how close mankind was to its destruction. The clock indicated that the closer the time is to midnight. the nearer mankind is to its destruction. All ten steps are very common to a typical hero story. However, there are some gaps in her theory. An example of a story that does not fit Seger s theory is the Disney version of the fairy taleBeauty and the Beast. This popular cultural phenomenon has within it an atypical hero, one who pokes holes in Seger s hero myth theory. Seger states that in fairy tales an old woman, a dwarf, a witch, or a wizard helps the hero . . . The hero achieves the goal because of this help, and because the hero is receptive to what this person has to give (173). Conversely, Beast is helped by the very damsel he imprisons. Belle is a normal woman, not a witch or a wizard; she has no special powers and is not old or dwarfish in any way. Also, Beast is extremely reluctant to accept any help from her. In the Disney version of the story, Belle tries to teach Beast how to control his temper and be more compassionate and loving. Beast is not receptive at all to this help throughout the story, but still manages to defeat the curse left on him by a self revelation. He decides after Belle s departure from his castle to learn to love and be kindhearted. Although her help may have had an impact on his transformation, it was the mere presence of her and his own self conscience that ultimately helped him conquer his relentless curse. This is quite different from what Seger illustrates in her hero myth theory. Furthermore, the sixth through the eighth steps in Seger s hero theory do not apply to Beast s situation in Beauty and the Beast. In these steps, according the Seger, the hero begins all his tests and obstacles necessary to overcome evil . . . In

They welcome anyone to their services, to the coffee hour afterward, to their annual block party, which they host, and to their harvest Sundays, where they collect food from their patrons and feed the local homeless population. The connection with their surrounding neighborhood is strong, but what is truly unique is the connection the congregation has with one another. For example, on the first Sunday I attended after the service was completed I remained in the nave to photograph and watch the community. I talked to one man about his conversion to Orthodoxy as the priest was consoling a young man who seemed distraught. This seemed to change the church from its ritual space to a community space of self or group

  • 32. The Negative Effects Of Bilingualism In Education In a country such as Canada, having two official languages makes it nearly impossible to avoid the topic of bilingualism. Anyone who grew up through education system in Ontario likely has strong opinions about the value of being able to speak both English and French fluently. Those opinions may be strengthened further once a resident is faced with the challenge of deciding which educational stream to apply their children to. Immigrant families have it more difficult in that their children are already learning their native languageand English when they arrive, and then they may be required start learning French as well. Along with these social implications of bilingual learning, there are also psychological issues that come up. There are helpful effects and some that are not so helpful that result from trying to learn two languages, this paper serves as a means to display both the benefits and the drawbacks related to bilingualism and the bilingual learning process. Learning more than one language at once constantly requires that the learner be incredibly adaptable and responsive. This means that their executive control system is much more stimulated while learning than that of their fellow students who participate in a monolingual program. If this is indeed the case, it could also be that this more active system is strengthened, giving a student in such a program an advantage over other students (Bialystok, 2008). If implemented properly, many of the negative effects of

But, first, we need to understand what characteristics we can compare of the two. The idea of Enlightenment was an intellectual movement that took place around the late 17th and 18th centuries. This movement had placed emphasis on progress, social structure, materialism, state and individualism. From class lectures and from the readings of the Communist Manifesto, we can derive the idea that Marx was against social class. This idea of a democratic state was seen as perhaps, the most radical of all thoughts of a state. 3. If we can take Marx s and Engel s phrase of dictatorship of the proletariat, it can be interpreted as the state s power is in the control of the working people, not the higher classes. This idea was directed towards having finally separated capitalism and communism. According to spunk, a website I ve found, it states that it is the vehicle of abolishing the state (spunk.org). The necessity of having the phrase dictatorship of the proletariat was to create a progressive life for the workers, an equality way of living and ruling. On the same website it states that the need to create this proletariat led state, was to ...suppress capitalist resistance, and develop the nationalized means of production as rapidly as possible in order to overcome relative scarcity and shorten the workday, this allowing all workers to participate in the affairs of society (Spunk.org). 4. The Marxist concept of withering away of the state, is in reference to the idea of known social institutions of the state that will

I have changed now that I ve seen the eyes of death. Life seemed pointless till we arrived at the Islands. Currently, we are on the island of Oahu and the scenery is beautiful. The palm trees sway like the hips of the Hawaiian dancers, and the foliage has vibrant colors and unlike any I ve seen before. I just wanted to let you know that I ve grown six inches and gained muscle along the trip to the islands. My long blond hair is as fresh as the morning breeze, and my blue eyes still match that of the sea. Our crew stopped at the Sandwich Islands to refit our ships before going whaling. This place is brilliantly convenient for whalers like ourselves. Also, the weather is delightful and frequently warm and enjoyable. The food on this islandis delicious! We stock up on many foods that are limited to these islands, and the natives openly share their food and treat us like we fit in. My friend John and a couple others decided to quit the crew and live with the natives so that they could escape from work. A stress and coping theory proposed that stress from social and environmental factors underlie how detrimental romantic relationships can be on young female s mental health (Brooks Gunn Warren, 1989). This suggests that females maturing earlier than males, are genetically pre disposed to be vulnerable to stress during this period. Research has found that females carrying a specific short allele are genetically predisposed to depression, following stress related incidences. This is because the short allele is sensitive to interpersonal stressors that result from romantic conflict (Starr, Hammer, Brennan Najman, 2012; Vrshek Schallhorn et al. 2014). Romantic relations could increase the risk of depression more by the stress produces and because younger girls do not possess adequate coping skills, they are unable to deal with the stress (Starr Hammen 2016). Neurobiological processes such as brain development was suggested as a risk factor for depression development in romantically involved, early adolescent girls. Early, adolescent girl s brains are still developing so they do not have the required skills to self regulate (limit the extent you are affected) romantic relationship stress (Sowell et al., 1999; Larson Clore Wood). Caspi et al. (2003) stated that romantic relationships are perceived as challenging and young females do not possess the skills to cope with romantic stress. Consequently a girl s first romantic relationship is suggested to be the

We also have social and emotional development. Throughout this paper resilience will be applied to all of the above mentioned concepts. Resilience across a lifespan is described through theories, measures, and even personality characteristics. Resiliencehas also been applied to the impacts of disasters and traumatic experiences in which will also be touched on throughout this paper. Resilience is discussed as to whether it is an inherited trait or whether it is a learned trait. Resilience can be found in everyone. Some people have more resilience due to life experiences which you will see explained throughout this paper as well. Resilience is described as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress (American Psychological Association, 2016). Resilience is an ordinary thing in human beings. It is often described as bouncing back, which refers to bouncing back from difficult times or stressful situations. As a person grows older resilience grows as well. A person s past can most certainly affect how a person uses resiliency in the present. If a person is not affected negatively a lot in their past when it comes time for a person to bounce back, they will not bounce back as smoothly as a person who has had a very traumatic past and has learned how to bounce back in a smoother fashion.

Not unlike her previous five pregnancies, this one was greeted with as much, if not more caution than excitement. Henry VIII wanted nothing more than to produce a son to carry on his name and to continue the Tudor dynasty, and until this point, he and Catherine had not been granted that luxury. After two stillborns, two infant deaths, and the birth of one daughter, Mary, the hope that Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragonwould produce a son was all but diminished. That hope was not soon restored, as Catherine delivered a girl on the Tenth of November in 1518, and the infant died within hours of her birth. Henry VIII s marriage to Catherine of Aragon had often been described as unusually good by the people they interacted with in daily life[]. They slept together often, they spent a lot of time together outside of their regular royal duties, and they seemed to get along together quite well. However, not unlike most kings in that time, Henry VIII did carry on affairs with other women. While most of Henry s affairs were short lived, his relationship with Elizabeth Blount lasted close to eight years []. In June of 1519, Blount gave birth to healthy boy, and the boy was named Henry. Major Depressive Disorder, also known as major depression, has been a continuing health problem for human beings throughout the course of history. According to documents written by philosophers, healers and other writers, depression has had a deep rooted existence dating as far back as the second millennium B.C. At this time, Major Depressive Disorder was referred to as melancholia. The earliest documentation of melancholia appeared in the ancient texts of the Mesopotamian population. It was then believed that all mental illness was a result of demonic possession and could only be healed by the power of a priest. It was not until much later that the first historical understanding of depression as a spiritual or mental illness was recorded. According to historical documentation, populations such as the ancient Greeks, Romans, Chinese and Egyptian civilizations had controversial thinking about the causes of melancholia, or depression. The Chinese and Egyptian cultures believed that their mentally ill were possessed by demons and practiced exorcism techniques such as beatings, restraint and starvation. Unlike the Chinese and Egyptians, the Romans and Greeks contributed mental illness and depression to biological and psychological disease.
