The Yellow Wallpaper Character Analysis
Essay
Embarking on the task of crafting a character analysis essay on "The Yellow Wallpaper" can be a
challenging endeavor. The intricacies of dissecting the protagonist's psyche, motivations, and
transformations require a keen analytical eye and a deep understanding of the text. It's not just
about summarizing the plot or outlining events; it's about delving into the nuances of the
character's thoughts, emotions, and the symbolism that surrounds them.
To begin with, one must navigate the complexities of the protagonist's mental state as portrayed
in the narrative. The descent into madness and the blurred lines between reality and delusion
demand a careful examination of the character's inner turmoil. Deciphering the symbolism within
the yellow wallpaper itself becomes a task in unraveling the layers of the character's
subconscious.
Moreover, the historical and social context in which the story is set adds another layer of
complexity to the analysis. Understanding the constraints placed upon the character, particularly
as a woman in the 19th century, is crucial for a comprehensive examination. This requires delving
into the societal norms and expectations that shaped the character's identity and influenced her
actions.
Crafting a coherent and insightful essay also involves addressing the author's intentions and the
broader themes explored in the text. Unraveling the feminist undertones and exploring how the
character serves as a vehicle for social commentary adds depth to the analysis. It necessitates
connecting the character's experiences to larger societal issues and literary movements, requiring
a broad understanding of the literary landscape.
In essence, composing a character analysis essay on "The Yellow Wallpaper" demands a synthesis
of literary acumen, historical context, and critical thinking skills. It's a task that goes beyond a
mere surface-level exploration and requires an in-depth engagement with the text and its various
dimensions. Yet, despite the challenges, successfully navigating this intricate analysis can
provide a profound understanding of both the character and the literary work as a whole.

Adolf Hitler s Methamphetamines
Methamphetamine
The use of amphetamines dates back to World War II when Adolf Hitler would
dose his soldiers with the drug in order to keep them going all day and night with
little need for nourishment or hydration. It is the reason the Nazi s were able to
take over Europe at an unbelievable rate of speed. Hitler himself would get injected
with amphetamines up to 5 times a day. It is believed that his mad rants were due to
his drug addiction. Japanese soldiers also used amphetamines during the Japanese war.
Perhaps the reason for its appeal to soldiers in times of war were the stimulant effects
to the sympathetic nervous system to increase alertness and decrease fatigue. It

In those days ancient Babylonians called it the joy plant . They would drink the
sap or dry it into cakes of opium to eat in order to enhance the pleasure of sex.
Alexander the Great gave it to his soldiers to relieve the pain in their feet from the
endless walking. It would also help them sleep through the moaning of the
wounded and dying, this made for a more effective army. Alexander and his army
carried the poppy with them to India where it flourished in the climate and became
even more potent. Eating the sap from the poppy is very effective as a pain
suppressant and but also induces joy into the brains neural centers. It controls
digestion, body temperature, and breathing but the withdrawal from prolonged use is
painful. It was the discovery of tobacco in the New World by Christopher Columbus
in 1842 that would offer a new way to deliver opium into the
Learning To Read And Write
I hate it, I hate it, I hate it I used to tell my mom when she used to ask me to read or
write. I remember at times when I had to go to school I used to cry and scream and
just did not want to go. I used to get bad grades and couldn t read and was not a
fluent writer. I used to struggle and cry while I watched the other kids do it easily.
While growing up reading and writing were my worst subjects and I used to hate
them I struggled in them. I can still remember that when I was in the first grade in
the grade where I was supposed to actually learn to read and write my teacher didn t
teach. She would scream at me and scare me so much to where I remember , one day
when she called me to read in front of the class and when I messed up on a word she
would yell at me , and the whole class used to laugh at me. I remember that I cried
in front of everyone that day and I remember exactly what she had said to me that
day, grow up , learn to read .... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I could never get it right and I always got screamed at for it. I used to take tests read
the passage and the go to the questions and read the questions wrong and mark the

interpret words correctly. At times I used to think that if I acted like and walked like

102 Years Old America
Have you ever faced a life changing event, one that you will remember when you
are 102 years old? Well, these three kids who are no older than 13 have. Brian
faced loneliness and hunger when he was stranded on a deserted island. On
paragraph 7 it says He could not believe the hunger, had never felt it this way. Also,
on paragraph 13 the author states It kept coming back to that. He had nothing. It must
have been hard for Brian to cope with the loneliness and hunger. Moonshadow dealt
with his father moving away and fear of the new country, America. During paragraph

The Significance Of Home In Ayn Rand s Anthem
The idea of everyone s best shelter is home has been implant in people s mind. home
truly is a great shelter for us to escape the worries and problems outdoor, keep people
away from the danger and give one the best comfort. Home is such a big word, it
console people by sharing the love inside of it, one can get comfort at homeafter a
cruel blow or a terrible disappointment. but those facts are not the most important

Taking a Look at Technological Archiving
A retrieval system includes a functional part with management lifecycle archived
documents (categorization and classification, traceability, access rights, rules
retention / destruction) and a technical section with storage, security, conservation
and sustainability of media (platform conservation). Certain activities may be
delegated to tools or operators outside the archive. Archived documents still share
today between paper documents (stocks still large) and digital documents (increasing
share of flows), without forgetting the other archival forms: films, objects, pieces of
material. The archiving system can be manual (for paper) or automated.
Technological archiving is considered a set of actions, tools and methods used to
collect, identify, select, classify and preserve electronic content on a secure medium,
in order to exploit them and make them accessible over time. The duration of the
archive is based on the value of the content and most often lasts on the medium or
long term.
Archives are not simply the conservation of an achievable content of this for the

Persuasive Essay Wrestling
Many argue that wrestling should be excluded out of the olympics. Some say
wrestling is a boring sport to watch, unhealthy, causes injuries and leads to children
being violent. I find this to be very false. I think that wrestling is one of the most
important sports, mentally physically and just all around. Wrestlingis a sport that
creates character and has children and young adults working hard for what they want
to achieve.
As a wrestler myself, I want to be the best I can be. Therefor I have to commit to it.
Employers often look to hire wrestlers because we are dedicated and do anything we
need to do to the best of our ability. If a wrestler chose to be a ditch digger for a
living, he would be the best and most dedicated ditch digger ever.

I cut back on high calorie, sugary foods. I also eat healthier and drink more water to
stay hydrated. I condition myself so i won t be tired during matches, so that means
lots of running, which is great for anybody. When wrestlers cut weight to drop to a
lower weight class, it s not the sports fault, it s simply the determination brought on
by the athlete.
Some say that wrestling also influences kids to be aggressive or have anger issues.
Studies show that kids who wrestle tend be be more calm and also more caring
than any regular person. I personally let everything out at practice so I don t take it
out on other people outside of the training room. Wrestling gets things off of my
mind and all you re really focused on every day during those few hours at practice
mis getting better at something you love to do.
Wrestling is one of the oldest sports known to man. It was also the first sport to be
brought into the olympics in Ancient Greece. To cut out the oldest sport known to
man out of the olympics is unthinkable. Most importantly, wrestling teaches self
respect, self control, self confidence, self defense, self esteem, and most of all, how to

Catalase Lab
Introduction The effect different temperatures have on the rate that enzymes work
was tested by this lab. The concentration of the enzyme catalase in different tissues
was also tested. It was tested by pouring 5 ml of hydrogen peroxide over liver in
different conditions and over a piece of meat and potato. Enzymes are balls of protein
that change a specific substrate into a product by contact at the active site. Enzymes
are reusable and once they finish tuning one substrate into a product, it moves on to
the next substrate it bumps into in just the right way. The enzymecatalase, which this
lab focuses on, can be found in the tissues of plants and animals. Catalase is very
important because it takes in hydrogen peroxide, which is toxic to... Show more

Catalase is an enzyme and enzymes rely on being able to move around in order to
bump into its substrate. Molecules don t move around as much when it is cold
compared to when it is room temperature, so enzymes are less likely to bump into
their substrates, which explains the small reaction for the cold liver. On the other
end, you can relate the warm and hot liver reactions to having a fever. The warm
liver is like when you just have a low fever, your body is simply trying to make
your enzymes work faster by increasing the temperature which increases that
movement of molecules, likely so you can fight off an infection of some sort. The
hot liver, however, is when the fever starts to get too high and the risk of damaging
brain cells comes into play. Extreme heat is one of the factors that leads to the
denaturation of proteins. When a protein is denatured its structural shape is changed,
and so is its function. This is because structure and function go hand in
Eisenhower Intro Paragraph
Intro Paragraph Dwight David Eisenhower had an interesting early life. He was
born on October 14, 1890. Dwight was born in Denison, Texas, however, he never
considered Denison his hometown (Mara 7). Eisenhower was the third child of
seven children of Ida Elizabeth Stover Eisenhower and David Jacob Eisenhower (
Dwight D. Eisenhower). One of Dwight s younger brothers, Paul, was born in 1894,
but died in 1896 due to scarlet fever. In the early 1890s the Eisenhower family
moved to Abilene, Kansas. His father was a mechanical engineer that repaired
equipment in a creamery (Brown 13, 15). Dwight s father was also strict. Dwight

Eisenhower was not sure of his religion, but Truman was a definite Baptist.
Introduction Sentence (Eisenhower s Military Career) Dwight Eisenhower
started his military career by applying to West Point, New York or Annapolis,
Maryland. Annapolis worked with navy training and West Point was for the army.
Eisenhower wanted to go there because the tuition was free. He ended up going to
West Point. He traveled to there in June of 1911. His parents, mostly his mother,
disapproved of going to an army school, but they allowed him to go. The
newcomers to the school were called plebes and for the first few weeks they were
ridiculed by the older students. Eisenhower was tough and went through this with no
problem. Eisenhower gained a reputation as a troublemaker, but nothing big. Ike
tried to play sports but he did not make the baseball team, which was his favorite
sport, but he made the football team. A football injury ruined a future in athletics.

Peter Unger I Do Not Exist
Peter Unger, in his essay I do not Exist, presented the position of self non existence
and complete non existence,e.g, nothing exists. This move is based on the idea that
things are made of atoms, specifically that things are composed of finite numbers of
atoms, and therefore the removal of even one atom would, therefore, change the
existential status of the thing in question; however, it must be said his argument does
not necessarily rely on atoms specifically it is merely convenient that science has
allowed an easy explanation of the theory. All of these moves are intrinsically solid
points of contention to the non existenceof things, he even goes so far as to call
metaphysical attempts of explanation miracles, because it involves changing the
structure of the logic used to conclude this non existence. I, however, am going to
take a reductionist and common sense approach and use only the logic given by
Peter Unger to show that his proofs do not necessarily invalidate his own existence
nor do his proofs invalidate the existence of an object whose existence is being
questioned. To do this I must rely on no metaphysical miracles to save my
explanations, but instead I must show the nature of losing small amounts of atoms is
irrelevant to my existence.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin we must show what Peter Unger s logical statements were: (1) I exist (2)
If I exist, then I consist of many cells (atoms), but a finite number (3) If I exist (and
consist of many cells, but a finite number), then the net removal of one cell, or only
a few, in a way which is most innocuous and favorable, will not mean the difference
as to whether I
Robin Hood Motivated Change
Robin Hood was never real and is just an idea that motivated change. The story of
Robin Hood has been change throughout the world many many times. The stories
depict him as dashing person who took form the rich and gave to the poor. There is
very little we know about him because it has been altered from generation to
generation.
The story does have some historical accuracy. The legend of Robin Hoodrose out of
the chaos of the reign of King John of England, during the early thirteenth century.
(1) The idea was that Robin Hood would inspire the common folk to rebel against
the mad king. This did get barons to form a group and challenge the the king with
the Magna Carta. This lower the king s powers and influence just like the character

Biomechanical Summary
This article brings up evidence that argues for the ineffective use of Insoles. It
shows evidence from a biomechanics professor, Dr. Nigg, saying they only correct
problems in the short term and only for select athletes. 1 In contrast a professor

Supporters for inserts try to argue that they are effective based upon the person. The

a great deal of care .1 There seems to be a contrast to this statement though, based on
evidence in the article. One study found that when individuals were able to pick

European Trade Routes 1100-1500
If there was ever an important period historians, and people could put a finger on,
this would be it. This is the important period where the world s countries,
kingdoms, and dynasties established trade routes. This is the period where
countries were made and countries were destroyed because of the importance of
trade and the importance of building a fundamental, religious, and economical way
of life. This paper will discuss the goals and functions of trades, and traders, and a
historical analysis of world trade. This paper will also get into world trade patterns,

Mali, about 1100 to around 1400; and Songhay, about 1300 1600. All three kept
trade routes open, which in turn gave them more power. Gold, slaves, cloth, ivory,

brass, copper, glassware, beads, leather, textiles, clothing, and foodstuffs moved
south. (The Worlds History, Spodek, 2001, Ch. 12, p.379) In East Africa trade went

History is passed down from generation to generation through stories and these stories
about traditions are an important part of conversations in the Chinese culture (Wang,
Leichtman amp; Davies, 2010).
The Mexicans enjoy teaching about traditions through acts and events where as the
Chinese prefer passing down traditions through elaborate stories that are based on
truths, but will captivate the young minds of their children. These two cultures share
many priorities, but have very different ways of carrying out those cultural priorities.
Though these two cultures have many differences, but for literally being on opposite
ends of the globe, they share a surprising about of commonalities. We interact with
both on a daily basis in the melting pot that defines our American society. Both have
made valuable contributions to our society in the United States and only time will tell
what the future holds as these two cultures continue to interact with one another in
our great land.

Torture In Medieval Times
Torture
Crime and punishment was much different in medieval times than it is now. In
today s ages you may get sent to jail or prison, or have to do community services.
While back then you may be put on the Catherine Wheel, be Drawn Hanged And
Quartered, or even be put in the Scavenger s Daughter device. There were many

There were many reasons for torture in medieval times. A few reasons would be
trying to get information out of a citizen, or trying to get a person to own up to a
crime, or to just execute them. The word torture comes from the French word torture,
originating in the late Latin tortura and ultimately deriving the past participle of
torquere, meaning to twist (Medieval 1). An ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This was a torture device used to crush victims (Roberts 2)The affliction of the
Scavenger s Daughter was quite straightforward. After the victim was strapped to a
metal frame, the frame was then used to force the knees of the victim to a sitting
position. On the opposite side of the device, the frame was then moved so that the
head of the casualty was pushed in the opposite direction. This resulted in
compressing the body of the victim which damaged the joints and muscles, which
also resulted in blood flowing from the nose and ears and eyes of the victim. Many
would say being Hanged, Drawn, and Quartered was one of the worst methods of
torture. This was a commonly used method of torture in medieval England. It was
often saved for prisoners convicted of high treason. First, the casualty was hanged
by the neck and just before the minute he would die, he was taken to a wooden
edge, where he was then laid and emasculated. At long last, both of his arms and
legs were tied with ropes to four different stallions who were whipped to jerk in four
different directions, eventually literally tearing the victim into pieces. The mangled
limbs were then displayed over the town for all to see. This method was never used
on women. As a matter of decency, women would simply be burned at the stake.
Medieval tortures were meant to be very gruesome and publicly humiliating to get
the victim to confess to doing a crime. There were countless ways of making a
Butler Lumber Company Considers a New Line of Credit
Essay
The reason why Butler Lumber Co. is considering finding a different line of credit
is because they ve nearly exhausted all their usable credit with Suburban National
Bank, using up $247,000 of the $250,000 of the credit limit. To compile this issue,
the bank is wishing to secure the loan with some of Butler s property. Considering
the company s large debt ratios, they have decided to check with Northrop National
Bank s offer to extend their line of credit by $215,000.
Using the AFN equation, it was calculated (assuming there were no dividends paid,
and that sales were expected to grow to $3.6 million) that the amount of extra funding
needed would be approximately $76,360. This amount would

Butler should take on the expansion plan. The reason is that it provides nearly
double the amount of capital than the previous line of credit provided by Suburban
National Bank (about $215,000 more). Within the case, the advertising costs aren t
discussed; however it is mentioned that the company does all of its sales via
telephone, excluding any sales representatives in their selling process. So one way
that Butler could help push sales revenue even further was if the company were to
hire either one or even multiple sales representatives to help push out the product to
customers. If the cost of having sales representatives is a bit too high, the company
could either limit the amount of sales representatives it needs to sell the products to
customers, or it could try to hire sales representatives for the six month period in
which 55% of the company s revenue is generated.
The company s debt ratios are 54.5% in 1988, 58.69% in 1989, 62.7% in 1990, and
67.37% in 1991. What this means is that the company is increasing its financial risk
by taking on more leverage. The company has been taking an extensive amount of
purchasing over the past couple of years, which could be the reason as to why net
income has not grown much beyond several thousands of dollars. One could argue
that the company is trying to expand its inventory to help accumulate future sales.
But another problem is that the company s
Symbolism In The Nebraska Landscape Cather
The three main symbols used in this work include the Nebraska landscape, the
plough, and Jim. The most crucial of the three is the Nebraska landscape. Cather
poetically praises the setting, going as far as to make it the most outstanding and
unique part of the novel. The Nebraska landscape is used by Cather to show their
society as a whole and how they live their lives. It parallels Jim s feelings and his
relationships with the people and culture of Nebraska. In his memory, this
landscape is the main physical symbol from his childhood. The only thing very
noticeable about Nebraska was that it was still, all day long, Nebraska. As stated in
book 1 The Shimerdas. The plough is symbolic of the people s effort to live off of
the land. It is
The Handmaid s Tale And Brave New World
Although The Handmaid s Tale by Margret Atwood and Brave New World by
Aldous Huxley involve different stories, the societies portrayed in these two
dystopic novels lack the basic freedoms needed for a society to function properly.
These novels present an individual whose freedom has been stripped away by a
government that controls all aspects of their life knowledge, individuality,
relationships with others in order to maintain stability in a fragile society. The
Handmaid s Tale studies our human nature by showing an internal struggle in the
novels protagonist Offred. Whether she chose the adoption of the current social
norms or her battle for the sake of individual well being and humanity. In Huxley s
Brave New World, the protagonist John the Savage is the symbol of the old world
and morality. John lives his ideals out and rejects the society s values. Both these
protagonists appear isolated in their own thoughts, it is themselves against the rest
of society. This presentation of these characters leads to hopeless thoughts in the
reader and that they are in fact fighting an inevitable defeat. Throughout both novels
the author s use of conflict to show control of knowledge from the past society to
the present day makes it apparent that a dystopic society exists. In The Handmaids
Tale it is forbidden for the handmaids to read or write in order for the leaders to
control the understanding their citizens can develop and there are consequences if
the rules are disobeyed.
The Natural Disaster Of New Orleans
Hurricanes are among one of the most damaging forces of nature that exist in
regards to a natural disaster occurring. Also, these tropical storms have potential
wind speeds of over eighty miles per hour, and large amounts of rain. Hurricanes
have the potential to demolish large amounts of territory. A number of safeguards
have been taken long ago, and also looking forward to the present time, even though
you never really know what to expect from Mother Nature. While, some well being
measures have been taken into consideration not all precautions are reliable in
regards to mother nature. On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrinaswept into New

Orleans is a city known largely for its culture involving such things as Mardi Gras,
Jazz, Art, and even the culinary dishes of exotic foods prepared just to name a few
things. It is no secret that the city of New Orleans has faced adversity before when
it comes to natural disasters. Furthermore it has been documented that during the
past century hurricanes have flooded New Orleans at least five times: in 1915,
1940, 1947, and 1965. Consequently New Orleans has always been at risk, though
due to its geographical location being that it is utterly bounded by mass amounts of
water. Engineers created a system of levees and barricades with the hopes of trying
to keep the city from flooding as they stretched levees and barricades along the

Moss introduces the issue in such a sneaky and clever way that in turn causes
Aaronow to become frazzled and partially confused. Moss tells Aaronow that they
are just talking about stealing the leads, but he slowly edges into thrusting this
ordeal onto Aaronow. Little to Aaronow s knowledge, he is falling into Moss s trap
and soon becomes an accomplice for listening to Moss s plan (Mamet 39 41).
Through this scene, Mamet shows that dialogue is a claim to power (Worster, How
to Do Things with Salesmen: David Mamet s Speech Act Play ). Moss is willing to
deceive Aaronow, knowing his job can be jeopardized if he does not successfully
deceive Aaronow. The dialogue between Moss and Aaronow merely displays how
dialogue is manipulated to gain power and authority over others. The sales men
yearn to have this authority. Not only would they be willing to deceive their
customers, but also Mamet shows that these men will deceive each other for their
own benefit. Both Levene and Moss show how language is used to survive and to
celebrate survival (Browne, An overview of Glengarry Glen Ross ). Throughout the
play, the words say, said, tell, told, talking, and speaking are used over two hundred
times by the characters (Worster, How to Do Things with Salesmen: David Mamet s
Speech Act Play ). This word choice in the dialogue emphasizes the importance of
speech and shows how verbal communication is a key
Stars Life Cycle
Stars are born of gas and dust and have a life cycle based on their original mass.
Stars are not alive, but they go through stages. There are many sources that prove
that this fact is true! These sources include the life cycle of stars, star classification,
and types of galaxies. These different life cycles are for the high mass stars and the
low mass stars.
There are 3 types of galaxies. These galaxies are Irregular, Spiral, and Elliptical.
Irregular galaxies have no defined shape and have mostly new stars. Spiral galaxies
have a spiral shape and have mostly medium aged stars. Lastly, Elliptical galaxies are
shaped like a sphere and hold mostly old aged stars.
The stars are born from gas and dust. Even the sun formed this way. Stars are also
classified by color, temp., luminosity, and distance from the earth. Stars form inside
a cloud of dust called a Nebula. Gravity pulls gas and dust closer together in some
place of the Nebula. When the matter contracts, it forms a hot sphere. Did you know
the color of the star is the effect of the temperature of the star. The sphere then
becomes a star if the center grows hot and dense enough for fusion to happen. As
you can see stars, like the sun, are born out of gas and dust that gets contracted. The
different stages a star goes through depends on the mass of the star. Lower mass stars

High mass stars don t last as long in the main sequence stage because they use their
energy fastly. After millions of years, a high mass star expands into a supergiant
star. In the core of this star, fusion produces heavier and heavier elements. Then
when a iron ore forms, fusion stops and the core collapses. Then parts of the core
bounces outward, and the star explodes into a supernova. This explosion can form a
extremely dense body called a neutron star. Sometimes a supernova leaves behind a
core where it collapses forming into a invisible object called a black

Hunter Gatherer Diet Essay
Purpose Statement My essay, The Immediate Effect Diet has on Your Microbiome,
will be presented to my classmates and instructor Jaime Astacio. It is a summary
and response to Tim Spector s article, What a Hunter Gatherer Diet does to the
Body in Just Three Days. This will be a class discussion and I would greatly
appreciate constructive feedback from my peers. The topic explores health and well
being, which is very relevant today due visible social standards. Tim s editorial takes
place in Tanzania, where there is a vast variety of plant and animal species the Hadza
tribe survive on. Although very geographically different from where we call home,
the piece suggests that reconnecting with nature might just be what we all need....

High diversity is associated with a low risk of obesity and many diseases. He and
a colleague wanted to do an experiment to see if intestinal health could improve in
just a few days, so they set off to Tanzania to hunt and gather with the Hadza tribe.
The Hadza are one of the last groups of hunter gatherers in Africa Sparks 2 and they
have a very diverse microbiome. During the study, they foraged for baobab fruit
and kongorobi berries, which are high in fiber and vitamin C. They also stalked
and killed porcupines and hyrax which they cooked over a fire. Meat, carcass, and
organs were eaten, nothing of nutritional value is wasted. They dug tubers from the
ground and collected honey from a comb on a tree branch. There were many perils
during the trip. Aside from bee stings and sharp porcupine needles, they had to be
wary of snakes and scorpions. The meals they dined on may not have been the
tastiest, but they were packed with vitamins and antioxidants. Throughout the
adventure, Tim was producing stool samples that would be analyzed for microbe
diversity when they returned home three days later. What they found was shocking.
The good news was my gut microbial diversity increased 20%, including totally
novel African microbes. The bad news was, after just a few days, they returned to
where they were before the trip. Their
Advantages And Benefits Of Organic Food And Organic
Foods
Introduction
Outline/scope
Organic agriculture includes all agricultural systems that promote the
environmentally, socially and economically sound production of foods and fibres.
These systems take local soil fertility as a key to successful production. By respecting
the natural capacity of plants, animals and the landscape, it aims to optimise quality
in all aspects of agriculture and the environment. Organic agriculture dramatically
reduces external inputs by refraining from the use of chemo synthetic fertilisers,
pesticides and pharmaceuticals. Instead it allows the powerful laws of nature to
increase both agricultural yields and disease resistance. Organic agriculture adheres to
globally accepted principles, which are implemented within local social economic,
geoclimatical and cultural settings. (Logan, 2009) In simple terms organic farming is

of organically grown foods. Therefore I will be comparing organic farming and
conventional farming. This will allow me to come to my conclusion and seeing
which foods are healthier; conventionally farmed foods or organically grown foods.
Along the way of my research I also want to investigate whether or not restaurants,
grocery shops and other markets are also going the organic way and why.
Aim
To show the difference between the two farming techniques.
To show the advantages and disadvantages of conventional farming and ultimately
conventionally grown foods.

Superheavy Elements Research Paper
What is a heavy element? A heavy element is an element with an atomic number
greater than 92. What is a super heavy element? Superheavy elements alters between
disparate groups of people. In most cases, superheavy elements denotes to those
elements with an atomic number bigger than or equal to 112. How are new elements
discovered? The first website I went to, I found and read that new elements are not
quite discovered anymore but they can be made up, for instance using particle
accelerators and nuclear reactions. A new element is made by combining a proton to
an established element. Although when you make a new element it s hard to prove
that you have made a new element, since it blights so hastily. Something else that I
found interesting was that there are assorted experimental techniques that have been
consumed to make different chemical elements. What are some properties of these
artificial elements? Isotopes of assorted elements that are conceived unreally in
accelerator experiments are known to be precarious and radioactive. After being
assembled, they begin to blight, which is them changing into a separate isotope. As
the atomic number of each new heavy element developments, the half life commonly
decreases, meaning that artificial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Compression Stockings Affect The Clothes On The Body
Compression hose also called compression stockings are specialized hosiery that is
designed to help improve the circulation in the legs to prevent venous disease such
as swelling, varicose veins and blood clots. They are made from elastic, and
compress the legs to help the muscles keep the blood flowing back to the lungs and
heart.
Venous insufficiency occurs when there is too much pressure on the veins in the
legs so that the wall of the vein becomes weak and the tiny valves inside the veins
stop working properly. This results in the bloodpooling in the vein causing it to bulge
and twist. Compression hose helps reduce the pressure in the veins and prevents the
veins from shutting down. They force the blood to pass through narrower channels, ...

They are prescribed to treat lymphatic and venous drainage of the leg. They also
have distributed pressure from the ankle to the thigh, and are most often prescribed
for people who do not walk.
Compression stockings are also used by athletes in the hope they will improve the
efficiency of the muscles. While this may or may not be true, many athletes have
anecdotal evidence that they benefit from the stockings.
Both types of compression hose come in knee high or thigh high length. Knee high
is considered the best choice for prevention of deep vein thrombosis. They are also
more comfortable. However, this is a decision that may be made by our specialist.
Compression stockings may have a circular knit that is more attractive or a flat knit
that has a seam and is mostly used for high compression purposes. Compression
stockings may also be custom made for a specific individual. Support hose has mild
compression that is more for prevention than therapy and is sold over the counter.
If you believe you are beginning to develop varicose veins or have any symptoms of
venous insufficiency, compression stockings may be right for

With the help of case studies of Siemens Electric Motor Works, John Deere
Component Works, and Schrader Bellows, Cooper (1989) demonstrated that the
management objectives and diversity of product mix determine the extent of the
complexity in the design of activity based cost management systems. The competitive
environment in which the firm is operating, drives the need for activity based costing.
A well designed integrated cost management system will help the management of the
company to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and point out unused
capacity or capacity constraints, if any, and will facilitate the introduction of activity
based budgeting in the organization. The activity based budgeting mindset makes all
cost variable and attempts to match resource supply with resource demand.
Activity based costing Activity Based Costing (ABC) is a two stage product costing
method that assigns costs first to activities and then to the products based on each
product s use of activities. , ABC systems first accumulate overhead costs for each
organizational activity, and then assign the costs of the activities to the products,
services, or customers (cost objects) causing that activity. Activity analysis is the
processes of identifying appropriate output measures of activities and resources (cost
drivers) and their effects on the costs of making a product or providing a service.

The Business Process Outsourcing ( Bpo )
Introduction The Philippines is one of the developing countries presently. It is
poised to become an industrialized country within 5 10 years. The main economic
drivers are the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who usually remit on average
$25 Billion a year (www.bsp.gov.ph/Statistics/keystat/ofw.htm). Next to this are the
Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) which is popularly known as call center
business which churns about $18 Billion a year (www.asiabriefing.com/news/2015
/02/oursourcing bpo). You could see skyscrapers in major metropolitan areas
sprouting unceasingly signalling that the economy is robust and poised to take off.
Or is it really? This paper will attempt to analyze the travails and missteps of this
beautiful country endowed with rich natural resources with 7,107 islands called an
archipelago with seas and oceans surrounding these islands. The naturally
hospitable, friendly and smiley people lends a strong backdrop to this country with
about 107 million population (http://itsmorefuninthephilippines.com/). It has a good
English speaking population which is why the biggest bank of the US, JP Morgan
Chase has call centers and direct hired telephone bankers, officers, and specialists,
celebrating its 10th year of presence in the Philippines. Wells Fargo, the no. 4 bank
also has extensive call centers and back office support in the Philippines. These
foreign parties driven businesses coming from the OFWs and BPOs are the main
drivers of the economy.
Pain Management Internal Assessment
Many people around the world have used medication to treat a medical issue, many
individuals use medication daily to treat various issues and reasons including but not
limited to diseases, disorders, for life, and pain management. Pain is an interesting
concept, as the sensation is subjective to each individual, making it difficult to define.
Anatomically, pain can be explained in steps: contact, reception, transmission, and
receiving. First there is a stimulus; it can be pressure, puncture, a burn, etc. Then a
nerve senses the stimulus and transmits a signal through neurons in the central
nervous system. Finally, the brain receives the signal and decides how to respond.

fails to take into account the human side of an illness, disease, disorder and pain.
Obviously, it is important for an individual to follow the directions when taking
any drug, however, one must recognize that a person cannot be limited and
described by a set of numbers, emotions play a vital role, and treatment plans
should take that into account. This process that I explained is only applicable for
medications that are taken orally, this doesn t work for injections, IV s, nasal

medicine to take, the route it has to take. This process has given me a better
understanding of what occurs when I take not only Tylenol, but all drugs. I was
able to see how math and pharmacokinetics and biology are all interrelated. This
project has broadened my perspective on the applications of math outside of a math
class, math is interwoven in so many different ways in my daily life, and I typically

good enough to be seen as a promising player and even a future regular.
Sakuno, in both manga and anime, is extremely shy, to the point that it s emphasized
in the anime. The emphasis given to Sakuno s chronic shyness in the anime makes
her prone to ditz spells and even small emotional breakdowns, while manga Sakuno
is more insightful, mature and intuitive; one example is that, when Kotoha from

that Ryoma had not taken Kotoha s claims seriously, unlike Tomoka who quite

Why Is It Difficult To Build The Berlin Wall
While every challenge is difficult to overcome, some are more difficult than others.
Whether the problem is mental or physical, it takes time to get through. One
example of a physical problem was the Berlin Wall. This was put up in 1961 to
separate East Berlin from
West Berlin to avoid refugees from fleeing the east. It was extremely difficult to get
across with permission, and nearly impossible to get through without permission. The
Berlin Wall made life difficult for many people and prevented movement towards
world peace because civilians were forced to build the wall themselves, extreme
measures were put into place to stop people from crossing, and President Reagan
believed taking down the wall would lead to peace and
prosperity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Considering that the wall was almost 12 feet tall (3.6 meters), building it was no
easy task. Overall, the Berlin Wall caused life to be difficult for many citizens
because the people were forced to build it.
Secondly, many security measures were put into place to stop people from
crossing from one side of the wall to the other. For example, Berliner Mauer
website states, Floodlights hung high illuminated the strip of sand that was
supposed to reveal the footprints of would be fugitives. This means that the
government would put bright lights along the Berlin Wall that would shine on
sand to reveal footprints. This was very effective for stopping people from
escaping to the other side because the guards would see the footprints and catch
the people before they got away. Many people simply wanted to get across the wall
to visit family members they were separated from, or to have a better life. They
didn t deserve to get killed when they were caught, which is why the Berlin Wall and
the people who guarded it made life

Electronic health records (EHRs) are becoming more common among health care

By removing old documentation, the chart is being altered incorrectly. However, if
the information is not removed, the current instructions given to the patient are
inaccurate and puts the patient at risk. To rectify this situation, I believe the discharge

instructions should be unique to that specific visit. Old information, accurate or
inaccurate, should not be taken from previous visits for the current visit. The pulling

great harm. People don t always here what their provider says, so the refer to the

because she loved doing things for Jesus. There had been a time, when everything

Even though Patty had been confirmed when she was 15, and she went to church,
she understood the law better than forgiveness. Patty s parents seldom attended
church and the family never prayed or did devotions together. Her parents were strict
and often told her that she was a sinful child and what her punishment would be if
she did not do better.
Patty s husband, Marty, expected her to make the decisions about church. After they

would share bible stories with the children and remind them that Jesus loved them,
but he only accompanied them to church for special services. Their marriage was

There are few writers that could create a body of work that encompasses as many
concepts as Theodore Dreiser s Sister Carrie. His novel follows the life and times
of Carrie, a country bell of sorts who abandons her way of life in favor of a city
lifestyle. Through through Carries progress, Dreiser embodies many philosophies of
intelligence, experience, and personal growth. Many great philosophers have touched
subjects that are apparent in Dreiser s work. Sister Carrie epitomizes many ideas
defined by great thinkers such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Lev S. Vygotsky, and Aristotle.
Eleanor Roosevelt once said that Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss
events; small minds discuss people. Dreiser clearly hoped to convey a similar
message in this novel. At the beginning of Carrie s journey she converses with a man
named Chas. H. Drouet And so this is your first visit to Chicago, he observed.
All the time she was conscious of certain features out of the side of her eye. Flush,

not something that I possessed from birth. Also unlike my religion, it was not
something that my parents gave to me when I was born. Becoming a citizen of the
United States was a decision that I made. Becoming a citizen of a new nation, even
if you have lived in it for many years is something that you have to work for, and it
is this price, time, and dedication that gives personal satisfaction. The ability to
choose whether to become a citizen of another nation and drop any legal bonds
with a birth country is what makes a citizenship ceremony unlike anything else
because the modern political systems seldom gives us the opportunity of choice.
However, when one faces the opportunity to make a choice of citizenship, it also
forces them to give something up. It is not only giving up the citizenship from a
birth country, but also heritage and traditions; and to a certain point it is also
giving up friendships and family because one becomes a traitor of their own
country. Not only do you give your word that if The United States and your birth
country ever go to war you will defend The United States; but you are also a traitor
in the views of others who think you have forgotten where you came from.
During the ceremony, the only thing that is celebrated is this new
Petryna s Nuclear Disaster
It is within human nature to try to cover up or conceal mistakes. However,
sometimes the scale of these mistakes can be excessive, and attempting to cover them
up can even endanger millions. Such a cover up, was the scenario induced by the
Soviet government, while trying to withhold information concerning a nuclear
disaster. The catastrophic mishap, took place on April 26, 1986, when a nuclear
reactor exploded in modern day Ukraine. A maintenance test error resulted in an
explosion in Unit 4 Furthermore, futile attempts trying to subdue the damage actually
caused radioactive materials to ascend more rapidly, and formed a radioactive cloud
extending over a large portion of Northwestern Europe and Russia. Despite the
magnitude of the event,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Petryna explains that the collapse of the Soviet Union and formation of the Ukrainian
nation added to the menace of the Chernobyl disaster. Ukraine was the country to
keep most of the contaminated land as a result of Chernobyl. To distinguish itself
from the brutality of the Soviet Union, Ukraine recognized much lower levels of
radiation contamination. This action, essentially transformed thousands under an
acceptable level of radiation to be categorized as highly threatened. Faced with the
uncertainty of health and financial insecurity with a unstable economy, individuals
try to be labelled a sufferer or a radiation victim. In many cases doctors are bribed to
deliver bogus diagnoses to qualify individuals for the government compensation,
which such sufferers are entitled to. Such doctors and officials complicate the
process, as individuals without the financial capital to bribe the appropriate people,
often find themselves in no shape to work but not unhealthy enough to claim this
compensation. For many Ukrainians, proving that they are terminally ill and eligible
for compensation has become an ongoing battle, an inherent problem elaborated upon
by Petryna. Considering the fact that the radiation released from the Chernobyl power
plant will last for thousands of years, Petryna hypothesizes that life for many victims
and their offspring will be inherently bleak. The

Red wine, given ruby to dark red with garnet highlights, promising a richly aromatic,
well structured wine.
Type of wine:
Character of the wine: Full Bodied Red wine, harvest by hand with the process of
fruit selection beginning in the vineyard, and transport of the selected grapes to
the chai in small, 30 kg crates. The vinifications take place in thermo regulated
concrete vats for an average of 21 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in
barrel. After the malolactic fermentation stage, all the wines are carefully matured
in oak casks of which 70% are new for about 15 months. The wine is full bodied
Pomerol, without the ripeness, elegance and concentration the better wines from the
region often display. Grow in Single 11 hectare Pomerol vineyard. Nose: A powerful
bouquet asserts the wine s personality with pronounced aromas of violets (from the
Merlot) and truffles. A distinguishing feature is the very board spectrum of
fragrances ranging from red fruits and animal notes to noble hints of leather. Palate:
The wine s aromatic richness and complexity are confirmed on the palate. The young
wines are supported by powerful structure and remarkable persistence, developing in
strength over the years. Older wines acquire a rich, smooth, silky character in perfect
harmony with their aromatic expression.

Paperweight In 1984
April 4th, 1984 is when it all started, or so Winston thinks is the date, when he
decided to write in his journal, beginning the downhill slide into thoughtcrime.
Thoughtcrime is having thoughts that are against the party, Big Brother, that rules
the country Oceania. Throughout the story a paperweight that Winston buys,
because it is from before the revolution, takes on many meanings including a safe
place and the fragile world that Winston lives in. As Winston is looking through Mr.
Charrington s shop he decides to but a small, blue paperweight with a piece of coral
at the center of it. He buys the paperweight because it is a connection to the past,
when the party didn t control everyone s thoughts and lives. Winston wants to know

Eugene Victor Debs Research Paper
It seems our country has always had a want for radicals who are captivating, and
so it would us do well to recall the likes of Eugene Victor Debs. Debs was what
every socialist or revolutionary or activist should be: intense in his principles, as
well as sympathetic and compassionate in his personal relations. Debs looked at the
working class struggle not as a scholar, but instead as one who was directly
entangled he provided assistance by giving a voice to the great effort, or as he told
an assembly of Philadelphia workers, I look into your faces. I catch your spirit. I
am simply the tongue of the working class, making this appeal from the working
class. Debs was clear about which war he was equipped to fight: I am not a capitalist
soldier; I am a proletarian revolutionist.... I am opposed... Show more content on

He embraced trade unionism gradually, and Socialism with even greater hesitation.
As an organizer for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen in the 1870 s, Debs
preached Christian moral inspiration and opposed strikes as a threat to labor
management harmony. Before declaring himself a Socialist in 1897, Debs went
through various ideological incarnations, from Democratic Party politician to free
silver Populist. Debs was a Socialist of a deeply practical bent, who deplored the
insurrectionary rhetoric of the Wobblies and helped build The Socialist Party.
Debs linked the struggle for the people do not wholly ignore industrial democracy
of life. His devotion to the cause was unquestionable, but what began to make Debs
truly memorable was his giving nature, a passion for identifying with the lost, the
desperate, or underprivileged. He became known for simple Christ like acts of
generosity, such as presenting clothes from his own valise to those in need, or
making impulsive gifts of money. While there is a lower class I am in it; while there
is a criminal element I am of it; while there is a soul in prison I am not free. he once
Examples Of Epistemological Enquiry Into Mary Shelley s...
Epistemological Enquiry into Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Regarded as a canonical
example of Gothic Fiction, Mary Shelley s Frankenstein stands as a classical debate
between scientific endeavour and philosophical understanding. Both aims at
improving the life of mankind the former through experimentation and explanation of
the properties of physical objects, the latter, through reflective study of fundamental
problems having non physical existence like truth and falsehood, virtue and vice,
reason and justice and so on. Science can be called empirical philosophy as it was
once regarded as natural philosophy, an offshoot of philosophy itself, only to be
branched out after 19th century into a separate discipline. A large section of

However, the girl is engaged to a man named Albert, whom she soon marries. The
unrequited love becomes a reason of terrible torment for Werther who finds
himself a part of a love triangle, that can only be resolved through death of one of
them. The hopelessness of his situation drives Werther to commit suicide.
Significantly, none attends his funeral neither Albert, Lotte or any clergyman. The
book raises several enquiries in the monster s mind. Firstly, the monster finds him
in a similar situation as Werther, a state of complete desolation. He is forsaken by
mankind as well as by his creator. He realises that love is indispensable for life and
hence, asks Victor to create a female companion, as deformed and horrible as he is
with whom he can escape into the vast wilds of South America , where no human
being shall find them again. Secondly, the book raises existential questions in the
monster as he ponders over his identity, which not even Victor has thought about.
Thirdly, Shelley is preparing a ground for the final fate of the monster. Once he kills
Victor, he realizes remorsefully that Victor was his father and that he is left with none
to offer him pity or compassion. The dejection and disappointment, hatred and
suffering drives him to commit
Comparing The Consolidated Statement Of Earning Or

The consolidated Statement of Earning or income statement, tells the user about the
sales and expensed applied by the Home Deport during the fiscal year. An analysis
of income statements shows a company with strong sales figures and the worth of
up to $71 billion sales per year. Nevertheless, the one thing that is very noticeable is
the substantial drop in sales from to Fiscal 2008 compared to previous years. Home
DepotВґs net sales in Fiscal have dropped from 25,997 to 23,990 (in the millions). In
addition to the drop in sales, Home Depot had reported higher expenses throughout
Fiscal 2008. The statements provides through information that is very helpful
throughout the decision making process of the company. For example, upper
management may determine that a struggling economy is the possible cause of the
decrease in sales and it may not be the best time to introduce any new projects. Also,
the company may decide to increase their credit programs for consumers with the
intention to increase sales. In general, the company is strong, however the drop in
sales and net earnings cannot warrant some cautions until the economy shows signs
of improvement and the sales and net earnings continue to drop. The drop in sales
and net earnings shows that even the strong companies are affected when the
economy is not doing so well.
The balance sheet is one of the major and critical financial statements that show the
financial position of the company. The balance sheets tell the user of the
The Spite In Fyodor Dostoyevsky s Notes From The
Underground
What is the meaning of spite? Spite is a desire to harm, anger, or defeat another
person especially because you feel that you have been treated wrongly in some way.
(Merriam Webster) In the Notes From the Underground, the author starts the novel
with, I am a sick man.... I am a spiteful man. (pg. 1) From the beginning, the word
spiteful is used many times, it foreshadows what the author is trying to convey to
the readers. The author, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, was a Russian writer, who changed
with the era. Through his imprisonment in a labour camp in Siberia, his views on a
utopian society changed. Before his imprisonment, he believed in utopian societies,
yet after ten long years of labour his views drastically changed and became
suspicious in utopias. Through his later novels, the reader sees through Dostoyevsky

Then the Palace of Crystal will be built. (pg.17) Here the symbol is the Palace of

exhibition was a gathering of people who got together to share modern technology.
There, an architect, Joseph Paxton, said, Let s build a building made out of glass

and technology. When Nikolai Chernyshevsky wrote his radical socialist novel

Cnut The Great Essay Outline
Cnut the Great, also known as Canute, was the son of Denmark s King Svein
Forkbeard and helped his father to conquer England in the year 1013. After Svein s
death, the exiled Anglo Saxon king, Ethelred the Unready, returned to power, but
died in 1016 and was succeeded by his son Edmund Ironside, who signed a treaty
that gave Cnut power over part of Englandafter being defeated at the Battle of
Ashingdon later that year (1016). However, Edmund died a few weeks later and
all of England came under Cnut s rule. His reign brought stability after years of
raids and battles. Eventually, Denmark, Norway, and possibly parts of Sweden
also came to be under his rule, forming a vast empire that is often referred to as the
Anglo Scandinavian or North Sea Empire. His son Harold Harefoot became king
when Cnut died in 1035, and served until his death in 1040. Cnut s other son,
Harthacnut, then ascended to the throne; his death in 1042 marked the end of
Danish rule in England. King Cnut s most famous quote goes as follows: Let all
men know how empty and powerless is the power of kings. For there is none worthy
of the name but God, whom heaven, earth, and sea obey.

The Cow-Personal Narrative
It was a cold dark night full of howling winds. It was almost my time to go check
the heifers, I dreaded the thought of having to cope with the cold sharp snow
filled wind that soon to bear upon me. I knew I would have to leave soon for I had
seen something problematic ahead. I knew exactly what this trip was going to
entail and it wasn t going to be fun. I put my gear on and slowly started for the
door. As I emerged from my place of cover I felt the pain of the cold shudder
through my body. I climbed into the ranger and moved toward the bottom of the
canyon. The drifts were now about three feet in size. As I slowly made my rounds
looking for any clue for which cow would calve next. Finally, I saw the cow I had

finishing checking the rest I returned back to the previous cow who had claved. As
I moved closer to her, she became very skeptical and started to give off some bad

behind me, so I ran around the ranger and jumped in the back with the calf. She hit
the ranger and stopped. I took a chance and jumped out the other side and got into

Recruitment of Child Soldiers Essay
Children belong on playgrounds, not battlegrounds. The use of child soldiers is
one of the most egregious human right violations of our times affirms Rep. Jeff

The United States of America actively recruits children under age 18. Most

Douglas Smith, a spokesperson for the Army Reserve Command, confirms ?This
provision is simply a matter of convenience, it saves the recruiters a lot of research
time figuring out how to get in contact with the students.? Military recruiters have
been caught telling high school students lies such as: ?The war in Iraq is over.
We?re no longer sending people to Iraq . We are currently bringing the troops in Iraq
back home. Once you enlist into military, if you don?t like it, you can simply quit
under the ?Failure to Adapt? discharge and it won?t affect anything on your record.?
Along with lying to accomplish the goal of increasing enlistments, recruiters have
resorted to fabricating backgrounds and forging physical reports to ensure that the
teenager qualifies for enlistment. Some recruiters have stooped so low by providing
?kidney cleaners? to help the teenagers pass urine screening for drug usage. All of
these practices are inexcusable, even more alarming is the fact that high school teens
are allowing themselves to be victimized by military recruiters. Military recruiters like
any commissioned salesman are out to produce quotas which directly attributes to
their income, the best interest of a high school teenager is never considered.
Teachers, parents and students have complained of recruiting tactics, harassment and
Essay On Bath Bombs
What are bath bombs? Bath bombs are relaxing and soothing shapes that are compact
with dried ingredients and oils. There are different types and people do change
ingredients and the ratio of ingredients. For example all bath bombs should contain
natural moisturizers of coconut oil and cocoa butter. All should have therapeutic
essential oils and restorative epsom salt. Which soothes your skinand relaxes you in
the bath. It s like having a spa in the bath with different colors.
Have you ever wondered why do bath bombs fizz? Well bath bombs have a

are all the ingredients in a regular bath bomb? Ingredients that are in regular bath

The Interceptors-Personal Narrative
That was my sister. She growled. My sister. Her voice was boiling. I m so sorry. I
backed away, gaining my footing to stand up properly. The hunter was cowering
over her sister s body, her face full of denial and misery. I was furious over the
unknown hunter, who gave their life to the cause. The slight urge to find my dad

black skin flew from the Interceptors and regenerated almost immediately. The girl s

Taking a Look at Technological Archiving A retrieval system includes a functional part with management lifecycle archived documents (categorization and classification, traceability, access rights, rules retention / destruction) and a technical section with storage, security, conservation and sustainability of media (platform conservation). Certain activities may be delegated to tools or operators outside the archive. Archived documents still share today between paper documents (stocks still large) and digital documents (increasing share of flows), without forgetting the other archival forms: films, objects, pieces of material. The archiving system can be manual (for paper) or automated. Technological archiving is considered a set of actions, tools and methods used to collect, identify, select, classify and preserve electronic content on a secure medium, in order to exploit them and make them accessible over time. Some say wrestling is a boring sport to watch, unhealthy, causes injuries and leads to children being violent. I find this to be very false. I think that wrestling is one of the most important sports, mentally physically and just all around. Wrestlingis a sport that creates character and has children and young adults working hard for what they want to achieve. As a wrestler myself, I want to be the best I can be. Some say that wrestling also influences kids to be aggressive or have anger issues. Studies show that kids who wrestle tend be be more calm and also more caring than any regular person. • 9. Catalase Lab Introduction The effect different temperatures have on the rate that enzymes work was tested by this lab. The concentration of the enzyme catalase in different tissues was also tested. It was tested by pouring 5 ml of hydrogen peroxide over liver in different conditions and over a piece of meat and potato. Enzymes are balls of protein that change a specific substrate into a product by contact at the active site. Enzymes are reusable and once they finish tuning one substrate into a product, it moves on to the next substrate it bumps into in just the right way. The enzymecatalase, which this lab focuses on, can be found in the tissues of plants and animals. Catalase is very important because it takes in hydrogen peroxide, which is toxic to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Catalase is an enzyme and enzymes rely on being able to move around in order to bump into its substrate. Molecules don t move around as much when it is cold compared to when it is room temperature, so enzymes are less likely to bump into their substrates, which explains the small reaction for the cold liver. On the other end, you can relate the warm and hot liver reactions to having a fever. The warm liver is like when you just have a low fever, your body is simply trying to make your enzymes work faster by increasing the temperature which increases that movement of molecules, likely so you can fight off an infection of some sort. The hot liver, however, is when the fever starts to get too high and the risk of damaging brain cells comes into play. Extreme heat is one of the factors that leads to the denaturation of proteins. When a protein is denatured its structural shape is changed, and so is its function. This is because structure and function go hand in
  • 10. Eisenhower Intro Paragraph Intro Paragraph Dwight David Eisenhower had an interesting early life. He was born on October 14, 1890. Dwight was born in Denison, Texas, however, he never considered Denison his hometown (Mara 7). Eisenhower was the third child of seven children of Ida Elizabeth Stover Eisenhower and David Jacob Eisenhower ( Dwight D. Eisenhower). One of Dwight s younger brothers, Paul, was born in 1894, but died in 1896 due to scarlet fever. In the early 1890s the Eisenhower family moved to Abilene, Kansas. His father was a mechanical engineer that repaired equipment in a creamery (Brown 13, 15). Dwight s father was also strict. Eisenhower grew up in a non fighting home. Eisenhower was fully involved in sports, but Truman was restricted because of his glasses. Eisenhower was not sure of his religion, but Truman was a definite Baptist. Introduction Sentence (Eisenhower s Military Career) Dwight Eisenhower started his military career by applying to West Point, New York or Annapolis, Maryland. Annapolis worked with navy training and West Point was for the army. Eisenhower wanted to go there because the tuition was free. He ended up going to West Point. He traveled to there in June of 1911. His parents, mostly his mother, disapproved of going to an army school, but they allowed him to go. The newcomers to the school were called plebes and for the first few weeks they were ridiculed by the older students. Eisenhower was tough and went through this with no problem. Eisenhower gained a reputation as a troublemaker, but nothing big. Ike tried to play sports but he did not make the baseball team, which was his favorite sport, but he made the football team. A football injury ruined a future in athletics. Dwight Eisenhower graduated from West point in 1915 with a ranking of 61 out of 164 (Mara
  • 11. Peter Unger I Do Not Exist Peter Unger, in his essay I do not Exist, presented the position of self non existence and complete non existence,e.g, nothing exists. This move is based on the idea that things are made of atoms, specifically that things are composed of finite numbers of atoms, and therefore the removal of even one atom would, therefore, change the existential status of the thing in question; however, it must be said his argument does not necessarily rely on atoms specifically it is merely convenient that science has allowed an easy explanation of the theory. All of these moves are intrinsically solid points of contention to the non existenceof things, he even goes so far as to call metaphysical attempts of explanation miracles, because it involves changing the structure of the logic used to conclude this non existence. I, however, am going to take a reductionist and common sense approach and use only the logic given by Peter Unger to show that his proofs do not necessarily invalidate his own existence nor do his proofs invalidate the existence of an object whose existence is being questioned. To do this I must rely on no metaphysical miracles to save my explanations, but instead I must show the nature of losing small amounts of atoms is irrelevant to my existence.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To begin we must show what Peter Unger s logical statements were: (1) I exist (2) If I exist, then I consist of many cells (atoms), but a finite number (3) If I exist (and consist of many cells, but a finite number), then the net removal of one cell, or only a few, in a way which is most innocuous and favorable, will not mean the difference as to whether I

The stories depict him as dashing person who took form the rich and gave to the poor. There is very little we know about him because it has been altered from generation to generation. The story does have some historical accuracy. The legend of Robin Hoodrose out of the chaos of the reign of King John of England, during the early thirteenth century. Smith for Dr. John Obradovich, Ph.D. BUSI 472 October 1, 2012 Response to Chinese and Mexican Cultural Differences The comparison between the Chinese and Mexican cultures is an interesting and fascinating one. There were many other ways of brutal, diverse ways to make a point There were many reasons for torture in medieval times. A few reasons would be trying to get information out of a citizen, or trying to get a person to own up to a crime, or to just execute them. The word torture comes from the French word torture, originating in the late Latin tortura and ultimately deriving the past participle of torquere, meaning to twist (Medieval 1). An ... After the victim was strapped to a metal frame, the frame was then used to force the knees of the victim to a sitting position. On the opposite side of the device, the frame was then moved so that the head of the casualty was pushed in the opposite direction. This resulted in compressing the body of the victim which damaged the joints and muscles, which also resulted in blood flowing from the nose and ears and eyes of the victim. Many would say being Hanged, Drawn, and Quartered was one of the worst methods of torture. This was a commonly used method of torture in medieval England. It was often saved for prisoners convicted of high treason. First, the casualty was hanged by the neck and just before the minute he would die, he was taken to a wooden edge, where he was then laid and emasculated. At long last, both of his arms and legs were tied with ropes to four different stallions who were whipped to jerk in four different directions, eventually literally tearing the victim into pieces. The mangled limbs were then displayed over the town for all to see. This method was never used on women. As a matter of decency, women would simply be burned at the stake. Medieval tortures were meant to be very gruesome and publicly humiliating to get the victim to confess to doing a crime. There were countless ways of making a

Butler Lumber Company Considers a New Line of Credit Essay The reason why Butler Lumber Co. is considering finding a different line of credit is because they ve nearly exhausted all their usable credit with Suburban National Bank, using up $247,000 of the $250,000 of the credit limit. The reason is that it provides nearly double the amount of capital than the previous line of credit provided by Suburban National Bank (about $215,000 more). Within the case, the advertising costs aren t discussed; however it is mentioned that the company does all of its sales via telephone, excluding any sales representatives in their selling process. So one way that Butler could help push sales revenue even further was if the company were to hire either one or even multiple sales representatives to help push out the product to customers. If the cost of having sales representatives is a bit too high, the company could either limit the amount of sales representatives it needs to sell the products to customers, or it could try to hire sales representatives for the six month period in which 55% of the company s revenue is generated. The company s debt ratios are 54.5% in 1988, 58.69% in 1989, 62.7% in 1990, and 67.37% in 1991. What this means is that the company is increasing its financial risk by taking on more leverage. The company has been taking an extensive amount of purchasing over the past couple of years, which could be the reason as to why net income has not grown much beyond several thousands of dollars. One could argue that the company is trying to expand its inventory to help accumulate future sales. But another problem is that the company s

The most crucial of the three is the Nebraska landscape. Cather poetically praises the setting, going as far as to make it the most outstanding and unique part of the novel. The Nebraska landscape is used by Cather to show their society as a whole and how they live their lives. It parallels Jim s feelings and his relationships with the people and culture of Nebraska. • 20. The Handmaid s Tale And Brave New World Although The Handmaid s Tale by Margret Atwood and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley involve different stories, the societies portrayed in these two dystopic novels lack the basic freedoms needed for a society to function properly. These novels present an individual whose freedom has been stripped away by a government that controls all aspects of their life knowledge, individuality, relationships with others in order to maintain stability in a fragile society. The Handmaid s Tale studies our human nature by showing an internal struggle in the novels protagonist Offred. Whether she chose the adoption of the current social norms or her battle for the sake of individual well being and humanity. In Huxley s Brave New World, the protagonist John the Savage is the symbol of the old world and morality. John lives his ideals out and rejects the society s values. Both these protagonists appear isolated in their own thoughts, it is themselves against the rest of society. This presentation of these characters leads to hopeless thoughts in the reader and that they are in fact fighting an inevitable defeat. Throughout both novels the author s use of conflict to show control of knowledge from the past society to the present day makes it apparent that a dystopic society exists. In The Handmaids Tale it is forbidden for the handmaids to read or write in order for the leaders to control the understanding their citizens can develop and there are consequences if the rules are disobeyed.

There are many sources that prove that this fact is true! These sources include the life cycle of stars, star classification, and types of galaxies. These different life cycles are for the high mass stars and the low mass stars. There are 3 types of galaxies. These galaxies are Irregular, Spiral, and Elliptical. Irregular galaxies have no defined shape and have mostly new stars. Spiral galaxies have a spiral shape and have mostly medium aged stars. Lastly, Elliptical galaxies are shaped like a sphere and hold mostly old aged stars. The stars are born from gas and dust. Even the sun formed this way. Stars are also classified by color, temp., luminosity, and distance from the earth. Stars form inside a cloud of dust called a Nebula. Gravity pulls gas and dust closer together in some place of the Nebula. When the matter contracts, it forms a hot sphere. Did you know the color of the star is the effect of the temperature of the star. The sphere then becomes a star if the center grows hot and dense enough for fusion to happen. Whether the problem is mental or physical, it takes time to get through. One example of a physical problem was the Berlin Wall. This was put up in 1961 to separate East Berlin from West Berlin to avoid refugees from fleeing the east. It was extremely difficult to get across with permission, and nearly impossible to get through without permission. The Berlin Wall made life difficult for many people and prevented movement towards world peace because civilians were forced to build the wall themselves, extreme measures were put into place to stop people from crossing, and President Reagan believed taking down the wall would lead to peace and prosperity. ... Overall, the Berlin Wall caused life to be difficult for many citizens because the people were forced to build it. For example, Berliner Mauer website states, Floodlights hung high illuminated the strip of sand that was supposed to reveal the footprints of would be fugitives. This means that the government would put bright lights along the Berlin Wall that would shine on sand to reveal footprints. This was very effective for stopping people from escaping to the other side because the guards would see the footprints and catch the people before they got away. Even though Patty had been confirmed when she was 15, and she went to church, she understood the law better than forgiveness. 11/20/16 Philosophies of Sister Carrie
There are few writers that could create a body of work that encompasses as many concepts as Theodore Dreiser s Sister Carrie. His novel follows the life and times of Carrie, a country bell of sorts who abandons her way of life in favor of a city lifestyle. Through through Carries progress, Dreiser embodies many philosophies of intelligence, experience, and personal growth. Many great philosophers have touched subjects that are apparent in Dreiser s work. Sister Carrie epitomizes many ideas defined by great thinkers such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Lev S. Vygotsky, and Aristotle. Eleanor Roosevelt once said that Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people. Dreiser clearly hoped to convey a similar message in this novel. At the beginning of Carrie s journey she converses with a man named Chas. H. Drouet And so this is your first visit to Chicago, he observed. All the time she was conscious of certain features out of the side of her eye. Flush, colorful cheeks, a light mustache, a gray fedora hat. She now turned and looked upon him in full, the instincts of self protection and coquetry mingling confusedly in her brain. I didn t say that, she said. Oh, he answered in a very pleasing way and with an assumed air of mistake. I thought you did. It becomes very apparent that Carrie involves herself in people; however we get a sense of her

The word citizen has becomes more complex, for unlike my first citizenship it is not something that I possessed from birth. Also unlike my religion, it was not something that my parents gave to me when I was born. Becoming a citizen of the United States was a decision that I made. Becoming a citizen of a new nation, even if you have lived in it for many years is something that you have to work for, and it is this price, time, and dedication that gives personal satisfaction. The ability to choose whether to become a citizen of another nation and drop any legal bonds with a birth country is what makes a citizenship ceremony unlike anything else because the modern political systems seldom gives us the opportunity of choice. However, when one faces the opportunity to make a choice of citizenship, it also forces them to give something up. It is not only giving up the citizenship from a birth country, but also heritage and traditions; and to a certain point it is also giving up friendships and family because one becomes a traitor of their own country. Not only do you give your word that if The United States and your birth country ever go to war you will defend The United States; but you are also a traitor in the views of others who think you have forgotten where you came from. Ukraine was the country to keep most of the contaminated land as a result of Chernobyl. To distinguish itself from the brutality of the Soviet Union, Ukraine recognized much lower levels of radiation contamination. This action, essentially transformed thousands under an acceptable level of radiation to be categorized as highly threatened. Faced with the uncertainty of health and financial insecurity with a unstable economy, individuals try to be labelled a sufferer or a radiation victim. In many cases doctors are bribed to deliver bogus diagnoses to qualify individuals for the government compensation, which such sufferers are entitled to. Such doctors and officials complicate the process, as individuals without the financial capital to bribe the appropriate people, often find themselves in no shape to work but not unhealthy enough to claim this compensation. For many Ukrainians, proving that they are terminally ill and eligible for compensation has become an ongoing battle, an inherent problem elaborated upon by Petryna. Considering the fact that the radiation released from the Chernobyl power plant will last for thousands of years, Petryna hypothesizes that life for many victims and their offspring will be inherently bleak.
