Small Beginnings
I always heard growing up, Great things can emerge from small beginnings . My
mom made sure that my 4 sisters and I know that. Being a child of two ministers, my
family has experience working with small businesses and ministries, for our church
was small. Unfortunately, things did not work for our church, so we had shut down.
My family then attended Family Christian Center (FCC) in Munster, Indiana. FCC is
a mega church with fancy lighting, a ginormous stage, and large screens. The pastor
of the church had great illustrated messages.
I attended Two52 Youth Culture, FCC s youth ministry. There I met Sade.
Everyone enjoyed her company she always had a positive attitude. She helped those
dealing with depression, substance abuse, dysfunctional households and financial
hardships the same problems she went through as a teen. She led youth meetings
on Tuesdays in which anyone can learn theater and dance. We would meet in a
cafeteria and have a brief bible study accompanied with short skits, then followed
by snacks and practice. Sade also wanted us to show our talent beyond Two52, so
she started a pop out team. We visited malls and danced amid the crowds. Johnny, a
teen guitarist serenaded strangers while the rest of us pass out flyers.
Sade shared dream of owning a business. She wanted a center where teenagers learn

He was the first, and to say he encountered a few barriers, would most likely be the
understatement of the century.
Jackie Robinson was ridiculed and taunted relentlessly by people who honestly

Segregation was a constant reminder of how people viewed him. The constant
threat of being hit on purpose by the pitcher hovered over him during every game.
People who came to see the games booed and hissed at him while setting foolish
examples for their children. Team mates signed a petition to have him removed from
the team simply because he did not posses the same colour skin as them. The list

Perhaps the most infuriating thing however, was his need for a thick skin, his
inability to react to the injustices for fear the journalists would spin the story into
something regarding an outburst due to the colour of his skin, thus resulting in him

and personally, I believe that is one of the worst things you can do to a person.

screenplay, When Harry Met Sally goes against many of the stereotypes of a rom
com while dealing with themes that are commonly used in the genre.
The movie begins with recently graduated Sally and Harry headed off to New
York City. Just recently met, Harry and Sally start to learn more about each other
while being stuck in a car for eight hours, but after arriving at the city, they part
ways with both assuming that they won t ever see each other again. Five years
pass, and Harry and Sally accidentally bump into each other. They both speak
briefly to each other, but both decide not to keep in touch after the awkward
encounter. Another five years pass and Sally runs into Harry again in a bookstore.
Both talk about their recent heartbreaks and bond over them. The rest of the film

Law enforcement officers have used multiple techniques over the years to try to
catch criminals in the act. One such technique is the use of undercover officers,
who work in the field to gain information under a false persona. This tactic is often
used to catch child predators in online chat rooms. These men and women of the
law pose as young boys and girls in an effort to catch a predator before they can
harm another child. In the course of the transcript we were to read for class, the
officer posed as a 12 year old girl. To convince the predator jazzeman04 that he was
talking to a 12 year old girl the officer placed a deceptive picture on her profile. The

This officer did a remarkable job in their attempt to catch this online predator. The
strategies of using common chat room jargon, leaving the conversation gap for a few
minutes at a time, and pretending to speak to her mother multiple times would lead
many to believe they are truly speaking to a young girl. Leaving the conversation
gap from time to time allows the officer to prove that the other individual was leading
the conversation, and wanted to speak to her .
The only thing I could see in this conversation that may appear as entrapment is when
the officer is asking if jazzeman04 is being serious on meeting her . These questions
could be seen in either light of the argument. Defense could argue that it is
entrapment, trying to make sure his client shows up at the sting. Prosecution could
argue that those kinds of questions would be normal for anyone young girl that wants
to meet her new friend.
I personally would stand with the prosecution on the matter because the officer in
no way had led the conversation up to this point. The officer also posing, as a
young girl that had been groomed to meeting the individual would want to make

My Identity
Identity is who one is considering varying perspectives and experiences. Identity is
sometimes affected in various angles. It may include aspects such a religion, family,
and age.
For me, religion is one of the most significant aspects of my identity. My first
encounter with religion was months after being born when I was baptized. Since
little my family has instilled the importance of religion. For example, from the age
of 5, or so, I went to church every Sunday with my paternal grandparents. In the
beginning,I did not know what it was since we were so little. As we grew more
mature I started to understand how important Catholicism was for my family and

When we are born, we are not born with values and expectations, but we learn them
from our parents who raise us and teach us. We do not only learn through these
adults teaching us, but we learn by watching the examples they give us. As we
grow up to a more mature age that we can understand what values are we can use

Mark Twain once said, anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which
it is stored to anything on which it is poured. What he was saying is that anger harms
the person holding it in more than it would if the anger was acknowledged. Mark
Twain was not the only person to understand this concept. Through figurative
language, diction, and structure, William Blake s A Poison Tree demonstrates how
bottled angercreates bitterness.
Blake uses figurative language to illustrate how anger, when kept inside, creates
bitterness within a person. In the poem Blake specifically uses metaphors to
illustrate his point, therefore Blake utilizes the growth of an apple tree, in line ten of

More specifically Blake uses the title, which is A Poison Tree, to further present
his theme. In the poem his foe became dead to the speaker because of an apple
from the tree. Bitterness is poisonous and in the poem it is because of his bottled
anger that the tree grew therefore by titling the poem A Poison Tree Blake is
suggesting that bitterness grows out of bottled anger. The title is also taken as a
reference to the biblical story of Adam and Eve. In Genesis it says that Eve ate
from the forbidden tree and Adam and Eve were separated from the garden of
eden. Similarly when the speakers foe ate the apple from the tree, his foe was dead
to him. In addition to using the title, Blake also uses the movement of the poem. In
the first 2 lines of the poem the speaker tells his anger and the problem is resolved,
but as the speaker does not resolve his anger it just keeps growing eventually into
bitterness. In the poem when the speaker tells his anger that part of the poem ends
quickly with only two lines before shifting over to the opposite. Therefore when he
does not tell his anger the poem gets longer and longer representing how anger keeps
growing into bitterness when not acknowledged. It is shown throughout the structure
of the poem that bottled anger creates
