For example, a fiduciary relationship exist between two parties, when a party expects the other to
act for him in such a manner as he would act in absolute honesty, faithfulness and diligence, not
minding the fact that he is acting for someone else. If he cannot steal his personal money, then he
cannot steal the money put in his care. Common law provides quite a number of duties of a director
to a company, however, only few of them relates with insider dealings. Some of these duties include:
The duty to act bonafide in the Company s interest.
A director is expected to act honestly, diligently and faithfully in the best interest of the comp any.
This duty is however relative. What happens to be in the best interest of the company to a director
may differ from the shareholders view. In the case of Park v. Daily Times Ltd., the court held that
the directors had acted improperly and not bonafide for the company s interest, when they made
redundancy payments to the company s employees on the cessation of the company s business.
Duty to avoid conflict of Interest.
In the performance of his duties, a director must not allow a conflict of interest between him and the
company. To be strictly avoided are instances in which a director s personal interest would conflict
with the interest of the company, which he is expected to protect. This was the situation in

Conflict In The Metaphor, By Budge Wilson
Charlotte, a teenager making her way through high school, undergoes a coming of age
transformation through the teachings of her Mrs. Hancock and her mother in The Metaphor by
Budge Wilson. As with most stories like these, Charlotte has a major conflict that determines how
she will grow up. For the protagonist, the conflict is not so much between her teacher and mother,
but more so the lessons they bestow upon Charlotte. Through her use of literary techniques, the
author is able to craft this dynamic between the two schools of thought. The symbolism, diction,
tone and metaphors that Wilson uses shows which discipline, flamboyant and exciting or
controlling and passive aggressive, she chooses to live by.
Charlotte is conflicted by the two approaches presented to her in life, but the way in which she
responds to them clearly expresses which one she favors. For example, in her first introduction
to metaphors, she talks about her mother. She states, My mother is a flawless modern building.
Right away we see that she does love and admire her mother. Not only does she immediately
think of her mother, she talks about her with awe. However, the metaphor continues to state why
it maybe isn t the best thing. They (machines) are buzzing and clicking away, absorbing and
spitting out information with a speed and a skill that is not normal. and that, There are no
comfortable chairs in the lobby. While she may revear her mother for being this icon of a
building and how great the ability of the insides are, she does it in a way that takes away from
the glory and expresses it with a negative tone. By stating that there are no comfortable chairs it
shows that although it may seem like she is a great mother, she typically leave Charlotte in a
place she doesn t want to be by forcing her to be the same type of person. (Page 14). Another

The dichotomy grammar/vocabulary is invalid: The strict division between grammar and
vocabulary which has traditionally taken place in the teaching and learning of languages is not
valid in this approach, for the attention is directed towards chunks rather than words in isolation. At
the same time, an assumption of this approach is to accept that many expressions should not be

Rationality is the basic assumption for many economics theory and often implies that people
prefer choices that give them a higher payoff regardless of their impact. In many real life
situations, however, the prediction that people are selfish does not always hold. People often
behave in unselfish ways, they give to charities and often prefer outcomes that leave everyone
better off. In their paper What Makes an Allocation Fair? Some Experimental Evidence published
in April 2002, James Andreoni, Paul Brown, and Lise Vesterlund present some experimental
evidence using a simple public good game(Andreoni et al. 2002). By conducting this study, the
authors wish to find a model of fairness that will predict situations in which people prefer fair
outcomes over selfish ones, and identify key factors that theories of fairness should incorporate.
The experiment is composed of three games that are all variations of a two person public good
game where the equilibrium predictions guarantee unequal payoffs. In the game s basic setup, two
players provide a public good by contributing a certain amount gi and keeping xi for their own
private consumption. The goal of the game is to find the amount allocated towards the public good.
The first variation of the game is simultaneous, and both players choose their contributions at the

To emulate the relationship between people and the environment, I find it best to consider
Newton s third law of motion which states; For every action, there is an equal and opposite
reaction. Meaning that for every change made in nature, there will be an inevitable change in
mankind a theory that can easily be proven justifiable. There are a myriad of examples that proves
a linear relationship between people and the environment some for the good and unfortunately
some for the worse. However, in an effort to illustrate and thoroughly explain the dynamic
relationship between people and the environment, I will provide research on what I view as the
three most distinguished areas where the nature of our relationship can not be ignored. These topics
include our effects on other species, climate, and collectively vegetation and landscape. To begin,
over the course of history human activities have drastically changed or destroyed the natural
habitats that are essential to the survival of plants and animals. We have been known to pollute
habitats, hunt and kill animals illegally, and our trivial need to fulfill our aches for luxurious

Politics over Science On January 28, 1986, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration
(NASA) launched the space shuttle Challenger. The launch was held in Cape Canaveral, Florida, at
the Kennedy Space Center. The Challenger shuttle carried seven crew members, including pilots,
aerospace engineers and a citizen. Unfortunately, after it launched, the space shuttle broke apart and
hit the ocean. The failure of the mission traumatized the whole nation. In fact, millions of people
watched the shocking tragedy on television. This incident saddened the nation, and President
Ronald Reagan appointed some persons from different areas, such as engineers, pilots, politicians
and astronauts, to find the cause of this disaster. Although the investigation revealed that the main
reason for the disaster was because of technical issues. In actuality, the disaster was caused by the
decision to launch, which was driven by political pressures. The focus on political interest over
