Stereotypes In The Color Purple
In the book, The Color Purple includes a big story which Celie s life is filled with rough times
throughout her life. It is packed with religion, gender, and race, it tells a marvelous story. This
book took part in the past where the job of females took care of the children and served the food
and also where males worked really hard to maintain their families. In the text it talks about how
people use colored people to get rich while the colored gets discriminated and left homeless. Both
are really different in this environment and that they don t go well together.
Different genders have different rights on what to do in the real world. Women are given orders
on to feed the male and the family. In this case, Celie is forced to cook in the family I am the one
to cook (1 Walker). Males are the ones who rule the house and the family while females do what
they are told to do.
White people disrespect colored people just because the different skin tone, rarely anybody is
nice to them. When Celie and Sofia Approach a young white little girl they both were respected
based on the girl s actions. She seems like a right sweet little thing, I say to Sofia. Who is? She
frowns. The little girl, I say. What they call her, Eleanor Jane? Yeah, says Sofia, with a real puzzle

Rich people take advantage of the poor people because of their different race and gender. Harpo,
don t let Celie be the one bring in all the water. Women work, he says. What? She says. Women
work. I m a man. (28 35 Walker) In this sentence, we can see that man in this situation wants to
let all the girls do all the hard work just because he is male thinks that he can rule the place. He is
treating the females as slaves since they cannot defend for themselves. Many people hated
wealthy people because money is power, power can make you just like a boss around. So
eventually they used their power to take colored men and use them as slaves against their

Informative Essay On Speed Skating
Speed skating is a Winter Olympic sport that has become very popular over the years. One of the
most popular sports in Poland is speed skating. Poland has won many speed skating medals in
the Winter Olympics. One of their best speed skaters is named Zbigniew Brodka, who won gold
in the 1,500 meter race at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, 2014. The history of speed skating
traces back 1,000 years ago in Scandinavia and the Netherlands. They had originally used
snowshoes and skis to travel through snow, but realized they could travel quicker across ice, using
skates (SSHIST.doc). The first speed skaters used animal bones, and boots made of animal skin to
make skates (Thrillspire.com). Speed skating was originally developed as a form of transportation.

Driving Under the Influence Essay
Drunk driving is an issue that effects many people across our nation. People do not realize the
affects alcohol can have on the body and mind that slow decision making while driving. This
issue begins in the home. Children see their parents, or other adults figures, have a beer or a
cocktail and get in the car. Thus, making it seem like it is acceptable to drink and drive. One in
three people will be involved in an alcohol related crash in their lifetime (MADD).
Driving under the influence is measured by a person s blood alcohol level (BAC). BAC is

Alcohol impaired driving fatalities were 1,028 in 2008 for the state of California (Century
Council). Of those deaths, 68% of the drivers were considered Hardcore Drunk Drivers ; drivers
who had a BAC level of 0.15+ (Century Council). Unfortunately, the drivers who got behind the
wheel of those vehicles now have to deal with the fact that they slaughtered a person(s), because
they made the choice to drive their car when they knew they had consumed alcohol.
Not so fun fact: In 2009, According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
(NHTSA), drunk driving fatalities accounted for 32% of all traffic deaths last year, that is, on
average someone is killed in an alcohol impaired driving crash every 45 minutes in the U.S.
(National Highway). Doesn t that just make you want to get in your car and go on road trip?!
It seems odd to me that people would get behind the wheel after drinking. However, that is what
alcohol does. Our brains are altered with a false sense of security. Alcohol impairs our thinking,
making us have irrational thoughts or views. Yet, I also believe that individuals who choose to
drive drunk have been brought up in a home where they witnessed a parent drive a car after
consuming an adult beverage. Giving them a false idea that my parents have been doing it and
they are fine kind of attitude. For myself, I do believe that a child who grows up in a home where
they are exposed to parents drinking and driving will follow

simulated environment to find the defects and identify the correctness and completeness of the

to evaluate the performance of web applications. To evaluate the performance of web applications

What Role Does The Government Play In Encryption
It s a technology that s not necessarily new but is garnering a lot of discussion in the recent days as
the federal government continues to make headlines about its stance on encryption standards and
the pushback it has received from technology manufacturers. But, what exactly is encryption? What
role does the government play in encryption standards? Are the technology companies wrong for
fighting back against the federal government s encryption demands? Finally, what does all of this
mean for the law abiding citizen? It s hard to imagine the world without the Internetas we know it

The Tall Man Documentary Analysis
Tony Krawitz s 2011 documentary, The Tall Man features the narrative of Cameron Doomadgee,
an Indigenous Palm Island resident, who mysteriously wound up deceased in a prison cell, just 45

Among uppermost significant movment which was very closely connected with the music of 60 s
was a hippie movement or hippie subculture. Hippies made use of music to articulate themselves on
an emotional level, mentally, and also politically. To illustrate the effect of popular music as a

Beat Generation, particularly those related to the San Francisco Awakening steadily submitted to

Analysis of The One Minute Manager by Kenneth Blanchard and Spencher Johnson The One
Minute Manager by Kenneth Blanchard, Ph.D. and Spencer Johnson, M.D., seems like a
practical simple plan on managing people and there for other areas of one s life, however I must
admit I am a little skeptical. The three philosophies do make sense especially once analogies are
used to put them into more simple terms. Being in the work forcefor more than fourteen years I

and managers who fit somewhere in between. My skepticism with this theory is simply applying
its use. On paper this method sounds great and makes a lot of key points, but again after... Show

The One Minute Praising is a pleasant philosophy. As a manager tell the employee up front that
they will receive updates on their performance. Give your employee praising every time he or
she does something right to point them in the direction of the ultimate goal. Specify what they
did right and how it made you feel. A moment of silence should then be kept to give off your
good feeling. This concept teaches the employee how to praise him or herself. The praising is
followed up by a handshake or physical gesture to show you support their success.
I agree the more you praise the individual the closer they are to praising themselves. When people
feel good about themselves and the work they perform, it makes them want to do better. I could
be categorized as one of those people. My performance reviews have always been happy times
for me. After going over my review, I find myself on a high for weeks. My boss will then critique
me on something that was not done right and I go into I don t care mode. I get defensive and my
attitude reflects in my work. It takes longer for me to accomplish that task and I do not put as
much effort into it as when I am feeling good. Giving praise gets people in the routine of praising
themselves. I have a habit of patting myself on the back when I feel I have done a good job or
figured out a solution to a problem that

Benefits Of Art Club In School
Does your school offer a variety of clubs, classes, and activities? Most schools do. Some clubs at
my school are Nerd Herd, Theater club, French club, and art club. Some of the classes are drama,
art, Spanish, French, and career investigation. Some activities are soccer, basketball, football,
and school dances. One of these that students enjoy is art club. Students enjoy art club because it
s fun, it s a stress reliever, and they get to hang out with friends. Students enjoy art club because
it s fun. One way that art club is fun is that students get to do whatever they want, on certain
projects. A way that students get to do whatever they want is that they may put flowers on their
project and someone else may put robots on theirs. There are really cool projects to do, and if
students like art than they ll love to do these projects! One of these projects is ice dyeing. Last
year in art club we ice dyed T shirts and pillowcases. Ice dying is like tie dying, in the way that
they both diy the fabric, and students certainly don t diy anything in a regular art class. Another
example is a chalk board. Last year in art club we made small chalk boards with whatever we
wanted on them. None of the chalk boards were the same, they were all different. Some of them
had flowers while others were stained. The last reason why art club is fun is that last year we had
a party at the beginning and end of the year. At the meeting before each party each student signed

The World Outside And The Pictures
Broken Pictures
After the death of more than nine million soldiers and over seven million civilians, World War I
came to end with the signing of The Treaty of Versailles. US President at the time Woodrow Wilson
offered his vision for world peace with his Fourteen Points. Influential journalist and political
commentator Walter Lippmann assisted the drafting of this blueprint for world peace through a
League of Nations. Perhaps Lippmann is best known for coining the term stereotype in his 1922
book Public Opinion. In the first chapter, The World Outside and the Pictures in our Heads
Lippmann supports that reality does not always correspond with the perception that the mind
creates. These perceptions aids in fashioning what Lippmann calls a pseudo environment. Through
a medium of fictions, the mind shapes these environments. Lippmann argues that public opinion is
shaped and defined by perceptions of reality and influenced by the pseudo environment molded by
fictions. To demonstrate the pictures in our head do not always match the world outside Lipmann
tells a story about an isolated island that only receives news updates every sixty days or so by
steamer ship. The story takes place in September 1914 some six weeks after the start of WWI and a
couple months since the last steamer ship bringing the latest news. On the island Englishmen,
Frenchmen, and Germans worked and lived together in harmony. Their most anticipated news story

The Origins and History of Corn
Indigenous to the Western hemisphere, corn has traveled all around the world being the center of
religious practices, cuisine, and today drives food production, but the exact origin of this miracle
vegetable is uncertain. Reported by National Geographic s David Braun, corn was developed and
cultivated somewhere in central Mexicoover 8,700 years ago. Maize, another name for corn, was
not found naturally in the wild, but came about due to the domestication of a variety of similar
species from the ancient Native Americans. Corn derived from the teosinte plant, which is a wild
grass containing kernels smaller than modern day corn. According to an article in The New York
Times, during the 20th century few scientists could confirm the relation between teosinte and corn,
but in the 1930 s, Dr. George W. Beadle conducted many genetic experiments with the two plants
and discovered that they had very similar chromosomes. Beadle concluded that the two plants were
members of the same species, with maize being the domesticated form of teosinte (Carroll).
Native Americans that migrated from Mexico brought along corn to various parts of America.
Therefore, maize dispersed into the southwestern regions of the United States and to Peru. In
addition to this agricultural migration, corn managed to make its way across the Atlantic Ocean to
Europe. In an article written by Lance Gibson and Garren Benson of Iowa State University s
Department of Agronomy, corn was introduced to Europeans during

Analysis Of Aldous Huxley s Brave New World
The identity of a person is often considered to be synonymous with his culture, whether it be to a
distinct nation, race, or way of thought. However, one of the greatest conflicts a person can endure
is one with himself, when he is caught between the innate desire to belong and a sense of self and
difference from the society that he belongs to. In Aldous Huxleys Brave New World, such is the
case with Bernard Marx. Marx faces the immense dilemma of not fitting in in the greatly
socialized and cohesive civilization that he lives in, the Brave New World. Despite how much
Bernard disdains this world, which he identifies as brainwashed and infantile, he cannot help
desiring to belong. Huxley brilliantly contrasts Marx s hatred of his civilization with his
eventual plea to remain a part of it after his exile is sealed in order to highlight the natural desire
of man to belong, regardless of how different he may feel from his surroundings. While most
people in Bernard s world belong to one of a handful of groups, and are mere copies of identical
clones, Bernard is entirely unique. Despite belonging to the highest caste of Alphas in his society,
Bernard lacks both the physical and psychological characteristics of any Alpha. Unlike everyone
else in his caste, Bernard is very small, lacks the appreciation for trivial games like
electromagnetic golf, and most seriously, believes there is more to an individual than pleasure
seeking and his role as a component of

Family Matters Character Analysis
When individuals face obstacles in life, many turn towards love as a way to motivate themselves to
get through the event. As former American President, John Quincy Adams, said, Courage and
perseverance have a magical talisman, before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into
air, ( John Quincy Adams ). Through the hardships that characters in the novel Family Matters,
written by Rohinton Mistry experience, it is evident that individuals gain motivationwith the help of
lovein order to remain resilient. Individuals stay motivated through their love for family, love for
religion, and love for passions. An individual can remain resilient through hardships due to one s
love for family. This resilience is obtained due to love for one s parents, love for one s spouse,
and love for one s siblings. First off, people hold the ability to prevail because of love for one s
parents. In the novel, this motivation is seen with Jehangir s love for his mother and father.
After his grandfather, Vakeel Nariman, who is bedridden and suffering from Parkinson s, moves
into their flat at Pleasant Villa, his parents face numerous financial difficulties. Jehangir is

Everyman Character Analysis
In today s society, there are many views concerning how to obtain a right relationship with God.
Considering the context of the late fifteenth century morality play Everyman, it seems that different
views have been around for quite some time now. The author is unknown, yet it is easy to see that
they have a unique writing style. For example, the main character is referred to as Everyman. This
appears to be done with the intention to relate the character to the audience. In this English morality
play, the author uses a unique style of allegory to express many desires that people often have
throughout their life. Through this unique expression, many characters are introduced that show
man s desire. In the end, everyman turns from his self centeredness and comes to God. This is only
after he realizes that everyone else has abandoned him. Throughout the play, numerous characters
are introduced. What is unique concerning the characters is that most of them do not have
individual personalities. Everyman and God are the only main characters that are not just moral
personalities. Death is one of the first on the scene, and tells everyman I am sent to thee rom God
out of his majesty (Everyman line 90 91). Everyman appears to be confused as to why death
would be sent to him. Shortly after this, death states to everyman For before God thou shalt
answer, and show thy many bad deeds, and good but a few (Everyman line 107 108). This
demonstrates that the author views a time of

Marketing Campaign For A Product And The Target Market
Target Marketing
Advertisements and numerous other marketing tactics are everywhere you look; a great amount of
companies does some sort of marketing with their products. Companies look for ways to get their
products noticed and to win you over as a customer. Planning and research is crucial before
marketing to consumers. In their analysis, they narrow down who would buy their products or
utilize their service, and they target market those consumers. Their whole advertisement campaign
for a product will target the individuals they believe will become their customers, usually by any
means necessary. Whether the marketing campaign is ethical or unethical usually depends on the
product and the target market. Unfortunately, no matter how much we dislike being labeled into a
group that a company targets, it happens every day and in most cases, that is what companies do so
their marketing dollars are not wasted. In addition to the labeling, some of the targeting is actually
unethical and unfair to certain groups, and some companies will stop at nothing to get their product
noticed and in the hands of consumers.
Marketing takes strategy, a company does their homework to try to prevent failure of a product.
They do the research to see which consumers may need or want their products. A firm segments its
market so that it can respond to the wants of groups of potential buyers. It would be easier for the
marketing department if not everyone had different wants and needs.

Flood Insurance Prevention
Many homeowners feel that their house and property will always be protected as long as the
annual insurance premiums are paid on time and standard coverage is in place. However, there is
a big misconception when it comes to repairs and replacement costs for a dwelling that has suffered
water damage due to flooding. Homeowners with properties located within a floodplain typically
must purchase additional floodinsurancein order to be protected from a severe loss that could leave
a household in financial ruin and without a place to live.
According to the Insurance Information Institute, It s important to note that, as a rule, homeowners
and renters insurance does not cover damage from flooding. To protect your home, be sure to

Insurance through the NFIP can only be purchased if a person s home is located within a
designate area that is at risk for potential flooding. If a property owner is unsure about their
dwelling s eligibility with the NFIP, he or she should contact the president of the local
homeowner s association or check with an insurance agency in the area. These individuals will be
able to provide a map of the local flood plains and make area residents aware of the need to
purchase flood insurance.
If you are a renter or homeowner (residential policy); or business owner (non residential policy)
and your property is located in a NFIP participating community, you can purchase a policy,
explained FEMA. There is typically a 30 day wait period between when you buy a flood insurance
policy and when it goes into effect, but there are some exceptions.
During the home buying process, realtors should alert all prospective buyers if a house they are
selling is in a flood zone and therefore requires the purchase of flood insurance. This is also
something a home inspector should make note of in the report for prospective buyers. Typically
bank lenders will not sign off on a mortgage unless flood insurance is purchased and in place at the
time of closing, so it is beneficial to be aware of FEMA s 30 day wait

Breast Cancer Research
Breast cancer has definitely become a serious worldwide health challenge. According to the
National Institutes of Health (NIH), public health data points shows that the global burden of breast
cancer in women, measured by the number of times something happens, death, and financial based
costs, is large and on the rise. Worldwide, it is estimated that more than one million women are
diagnosed with breast cancerevery year, and more than 410,000 will die from the disease (GIVE
SOURCE). In low and middle income countries (LMICs), the setup and funds for common
examination of medical breast examinations (such as mammography) are often not available. In
these settings, breast canceris therefore diagnosed at late stages and women may receive poor...

Therefore, a number of studies have depicted the need for BC screening/early detection in LMICs
to prevent early deaths of women presenting with late stage at diagnosis. Yet, many complex issues
harvest in the context of planning and implementation of BC screening in LMICs. So far,
mammography has remained the main examination of BC screening throughout the world.
Adequate evidence exists from some randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that mammography
screening is associated with significant reductions in BC mortality. But in order to be effective,
mammographic screening programs must be of high quality, with appropriate targeting and of
sufficient frequency. In LMICs, BC incidence is lower and occurs more in younger age groups
when breast tissue is dense. Promoting a need for another, more appropriate screening examination
to take place. Also, there is a lack of resources for implementing any population level screening
programs using mammography. Running a mammographic screening program becomes impossible
and pointless in LMICs since the costs are too high and the benefits are insignificant. Maximum
cost benefit can only take place if screening is done in an age group which has a sufficiently high
incidence of BC and sufficient

Citizen Kane Narrative Techniques
1.)Citizen Kane is recognized as one of the greatest films made in the history of cinema, mostly due
to its innovativeness. The cinematography, sound, and narrative structure cemented Citizen Kane s
legacy and influenced films of all genres for years to come. James Naremore wrote an essay that
described why Citizen Kanewas held up to such high regard, using examples from other scenes to
highlight how the use of certain techniques help to make the film stand out. Naremore writes that
Kane is important for many reasons, among them its ingenious juggling of time and perspective, its
carefully designed sound track, and its influential use of wide angle, deep focus photography. (pg.

Citizen Kane focuses on developing scenes from the protagonist s past, and how his death has
affected the secondary plot of a reporter investigating his last words. The narrative strategy, in
which the whole story is told in flashback from slightly different points of view (the equivalent of
the unreliable narrator in fiction), was unprecedented in a Hollywood film. The technique of
telling the story of Kane from multiple points of view dispels the illusion that we are learning
the truth about Charles Foster Kane. As numerous commentators such as Naremore have
observed, the film is like a complicated jigsaw puzzle which the viewer must piece together, bit
by bit, in order to see the whole picture. Only in the final moments of the film, when we despair
of ever discovering the meaning of Rosebud, does the film s narration return us to a privileged
omniscient perspective, revealing the final missing piece. One scene that helps develop the unique
structure is the beginning scene, with the film opening to Kane s death. Most films do not begin
with the character s death, especially with a detailed scene like Citizen Kane. At the start of the
film, the camera pans up and over a sign on a wire fence

Entanglement and Quantum Mechanics
Entanglement is one of the most fundamental and yet unintuitive concepts in quantum mechanics.
Maximally entangled two qubit states, often called Bell states, where shown to violate classical
(local) correlation properties [33, 34] and are an essential building block for quantum
communication and distributed quantum computation. Unfortunately, such entangled states are
also difficult to generate and sustain as interaction with a noisy environment typically leads to rapid
loss of their unique quantum properties. In the context of QSC, such an entanglement has been
generated exploring various types of interactions such as direct qubit qubit interaction [35, 36],
coupling to a common cavity mode [37] or photon mediated interactions for qubits embedded in a
waveguide [38].
In this context, remote entanglement of spatially separated quantum systems have important im
plications in addressing the scaling problem for quantum information processing. Indeed, as a
solution to this scaling issue, we propose here to follow a modular approach where the quantum
information is encoded, protected and locally manipulated in small units consisting of a few cavity
modes or/and few qubits and the communication between modules is ensured through quantum
teleportation techniques. Sharing of a pair of entangled subsystems between two modules is central
for these teleportation pro tocols. While the isolation of the modules simplifies the scaling by
avoiding any undesired cross talk between the

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and its Characterization
In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, there is a large use of characterization to
develop the characters and is influenced by the time period. Mark Twain was born in 1835, and
lived to see the Civil War start. This is a big influence on his writing, because his two most famous
works, The Adventures of Tom Sawyerand The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. They both take
place in the time before the Civil War and both have major themes of race and morals. Mark Twain
characterizes Jim and Huck as he builds their bonds and relationships. At the same time he teaches
that race should not determine the status of a relationship.
Twain characterizes Huck from the beginning. He also characterizes Huck all through his first
book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. When Huck is first introduced, many things are shown
about him. Twain shows how simpleminded Huck is and how adventurous his spirit. Huck
hates the normal sivilized ways of life and education. This reflects the time period because a big
issue in society was being free. The slaves wanted to be free and the regularWhen Huck starts
talking about his family s attempts to educate him, he says Miss Watson (...) had come to live
with her and took a set at me with a spelling book (Twain 2). This shows how he does not care

Acidity The Natural Way
Acidity The Natural Way Stomach acids are essential for the digestion of food. Increased
secretion of acids in the stomach gives rise to acidity. Acidity is manifested by several
uncomfortable symptoms such as burning and pain in the chest and stomach; nausea; bitter taste
in mouth; vomiting and discomfort in the stomach. Acidity, been one of the commonest
digestive complaints. At some point in our lives, we have all suffered from these symptoms.
Acidity is generally stimulated by consumption of spicy foods, junk food, carbonated drinks,
fried foods, chocolates, stress or lack of sleep. Obesity, pregnancy and other medical conditions
may also give rise to acidity. Irrespective of the reason, acidity can prove to be an uncomfortable
experience. There are several natural remedies that work wonders in keeping acidity at bay and
also in providing relief from acidity. Though, chronic acidity complaints may require proper
medications. Some of natural remedies are as follows: Bananas They prove to be an effective
antidote for acidity, as it has a high pH value. More the pH value, lesser are the symptoms of
acidity. Banana further, enhances the production of mucous by the stomach lining which reduces
the harmful effects of acidity. The high fibre content of banana decreases the recurrence of acidity.
Apart from banana, watermelon and cucumbers too are effective against acidity. Consumption of
overripe bananas during an attack of acidity is even more beneficial. Cold

Family Secrets In Alison Bechdel s Fun Home
As I read Fun Home, often reading chapters more than once, I had quite a few questions floating

did have a lot of fun, in spite of everything . I found it odd that she didn t include her father in this
as well. After all, without her father, she would not have had much of a story. He was the glue that
held the whole dysfunctional familytogether and it was his mysterious and depraved manner that
compelled me to turn each twisted page. Bechdel also mentions her family again in the
acknowledgments at the end of her book, Thanks to Helen, Christian, and John Bechdel for not
trying to stop me from writing this book . This brought up the question, what does her family think
about her writing her autobiography? Alison exposes many intensely personal family secrets in her

The only thing I wasn t a huge fan of was Bechdel s exorbitant vocabulary throughout the entire

attempt to elevate her comic book autobiography to a higher intellectual level. For example, in
chapter four, Alison remembers a trip to New York City with her brothers and Roy. Alison
recalls, And while I acknowledge the absurdity of claiming a connection to that mythologized
flashpoint...might not a lingering vibration, a quantum particle of rebellion, still have hung in
the humectant air (104). Another example appears in chapter five, Alison states, And my father

North American Colonization Research Paper
The discovery of North America sparked a new era of exploration, expansion, and colonization.
Many European countries took the opportunity to develop a new territory where they could prosper
financially and benefit their home country as much as possible. The trip overseas was strenuous, as
was maintaining positive relationships with Native Americans and running a successful colony.
Although all European countries who showed interest in establishing territories in the Americashad
their own reasons for doing so, some countries did a better job executing their colonizing than
others. Britain, France, and Spainwere the three most successful countries in terms of colonizing a

People emigrated in hopes of gaining land, improving their social statuses and wealth, and to

regain their social status, an opportunity that would not be available back home. It was also a
gamble, since life expectancy was very low for servants due to being overworked, as well as
susceptible to diseases. To many, however, the risk was worth it. In England, there were massive
amounts of unemployed workers. Poverty and crime increased dramatically, but by moving to the
new colonies the poor received more of a fresh start. In Virginia, the colonists profited from

New England, there was far less death by diseases and had more middle class residents than the
poor servants down South. With Puritan leadership, the colonists had a better worth ethic and

Stephanie Crawford says SLA Printers work by a focused beam of UV rays on the surface of the
object to be recreated. The CAD designed object is filled with what s called resin
(photopolymer). When the light hits the resin, the liquid hardens to form a high resolution 3D
model of the object that you designed. Hull, a few years later co found 3D Systems Corporation,
one of the first companies to sell a high end 3D printer and still is one of the leading companies

The New Brunswick Islamic Center
Since the dawn of time, religion has been the staple of humanity. It has been our explanation for
the unexplainable, as well a way for us to form a community with those around us. Due to the
natural diversity of humans, a varied set of separate religions has formed throughout the world.
Religions continue to adapt and inspire each other, however, they all have their differences, as
well as internal differences through the observations of each believer. The exterior of the New
Brunswick Islamic Center is incredibly misleading. The outside appears similar to a factory, yet,
it s the inside that suggests something holier. The inner appearance of the religious center is not
very extravagant either, yet, it has a respectful atmosphere to it. Everyone acknowledges each

The Importance Of Being A Hero
The most important and impactful part of being a hero is essentially doing heroic things. A
heroic action, in this case, would be qualified as an act that benefits others more than yourself
and is characterized as having a generally upstanding moral motive. In this respect, Dr.
Manhattan would be the most successful hero because not only does he end a war, but he is
also the reason that nuclear war was postponed for so long (Moore, Gibbons 130). Just having a
godlike hero present that could stop nuclear conflict at any time was enough to keep countries
from annihilating all humans. From this logic, Dr. Manhattan saved the most lives for the
longest period of time therefore doing the most good. This outweighs his lack of empathy and
compassion. Regardless of how he feels about people, he still believes they have the capability of
doing good and he protects them. Similarly, Ozymandias also takes part in preventing nuclear war.
However, he does this in what is essentially the most evil way: by killing millions (Moore, Gibbons
401). He thinks he is doing what is right, but he is responsible for upholding values rather than
revolutionizing the world. Killing millions of innocent citizens, by most people s standards,
immoral and unjust, and therefore Veidt is not acting entirely as a hero. Furthermore, it cannot be
ignored that by making this sacrifice, Veidt saved more than he killed. When referring to villainous
personalities, a common and determining factor is not valuing

If We Are Not Reading
If we are not reading carefully, it s easy to move from chapter 27 to 28, simply presume that Job
continued to speak, and sail right on into chapters 29 and beyond. That s especially true if our
reading is guided (as it often is) by headings in whatever translation we are reading. The ESV, for
example, shapes our perception with Job Continues: Where is Wisdom? at the beginning of
chapter 28. The NASB implies the same idea Job Tells of Earth s Treasures. Likewise, the NKJV
reads Job s Discourse on Wisdom. The NIV has no break at all between chapters 27 and 28,
suggesting that Job simply continued. Nonetheless, it seems best to understand chapter 28 as an
interlude during which the reading/listening audience was granted breathing space. There had been
words in profusion, overwhelming in sheer volume to say nothing of tone. Thus, time for silent
contemplation was essential. That might also imply Job himself stopped speaking into the drama.
Where may wisdom be found? We might ask why inquire about wisdom at this point? Hasn t the
disputation been about justice and righteousness? If anything, Job might have been asking where is
God to be found? Is this another hint that they had all missed something critical? Is it a preparation
for the specific wisdom focus in God s discourses? Whoever uttered these verses, their contents are
rich. The metaphors send us far underground into the darkest mine, back to the heart of the precious
metals exchange, and beyond to death and

The Ethical Concepts Of The Antihero
CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
Our meaning of heroes and villains are continually evolving. In their anecdotal universes, there are
superheroes that are looked upon with profound respect and thought to be essential pioneers of
society, and there are superheroes that are looked upon with wariness or even scorn. Heroes and
villains often reflect one another in their forces and capacities; with the significant contrast that the
hero is utilizing his/her energy to help other people and the scoundrel is utilizing it for narrow
minded purposes. I will take a gander at a character that is a perplexing cross breed between these
two generalizations, to be specific the Antihero.
Presently the inquiry emerges, what is an Antihero? An anti hero is a defective saint, and along
these lines, substantially more fascinating than the traditional stereotypical heroes. They can be
taking a shot along the edge of good, however with a deplorable imperfection, or a repulsive past.
They can likewise be working for the side of evil, however with concealed honourable aims, or

one who gets hold of a Death Note, but there is another person who falls in the same trap as Light,
a female, named Misa Amane, a young model, who is if anything more ruthless than Light. While
Misa has her own weaknesses, as she hopelessly falls in love with Light and calls it love at first
sight and Light as expected takes advantage of her as she traded her half life for shinigami

The Role Of Abortion In The United States
Over the past few centuries state and federal laws concerning a females reproductive rights have
changed dramatically. The female population has been greatly affected by many laws regarding
their reproductive rights and their ability to make educated decisions about family planning. The
1973 case Roe vs. Wade set the motion to allow women to control their bodies and their decision to
end a pregnancy through abortion. Prior to this case, in almost all 50 states abortions were deemed
illegal. History of Abortions Prior to 1973 and the legalization of medical professionals performing
abortions, women had to fight for many reproductive rights, including birth control for all females,
not just married couples. As far back as 1821, states follow... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It s Kind Of A Funny Story By Ned Vizzini
I am reading It s Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini and I am on page 140. This book is about
Craig Gilner who suicidal. In this journal I will be questioning and
I wonder if Craig will actually jump of the Brooklyn Bridge. One answer is that he will. I think he
will because he already has a plan in his head about what to do. His plan is to leave his house
around 3 o clock a.m., bike to the Brooklyn Bridge, and jump off it. He also already said goodbye
family. He went into his little sister s room and talked to her. I love ya, little girl, I tell her . You re
very sweet and smart, and you have great ideas. Stick with them . He is also sleeping in his mom s
bed with her because he felt the least he could do for her before he kills

Plea Bargains and Mandatory Sentencing Essay
Plea Bargains and Mandatory Sentencing
I would like to take this time to explain my position on Plea Bargains and Mandatory Sentencing.
I will show both pros and cons for each topic, as well as give you my personal brief on which one I
support.
There are two types of plea bargains : The first one is a charge bargain. When the prosecutor
allows a defendant to quot;plead guilty to a lesser charge , or to only some of the charges that have
been filed against him. For example, a defendant charged with burglary may be offered the
opportunity to plead guilty to quot;attempted burglary quot;. A defendant charged with Drunk
Driving and Driving with License Suspended may be offered the opportunity to plead guilty to just
the drunk driving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I do not agree that we should offer someone a sentence bargain. If the individual committed the
crime then he/she should have to do the time. So, when Justice Stewart wrote in Blackledge v.
Allison that plea bargaining can benefit all concerned , I think that is only partly correct. Sure it
benefits defendants, prosecutors, defense attorneys and judges, but what about the victims or their
families. I like what District Attorney Gibbons was trying to do, if it was all or none with no
exceptions. The only time that I feel that plea bargains should not be used is in any murder or rape
charge.
The second thing we must look at is mandatory sentencing. I agree that we should have
mandatory sentencing. You can read different studies that it does not work and it takes power
away from judges. Sometimes trial rates and sentencing delays occur because of mandatory
sentencing. Just think of how many repeat offenders we would have if it was not in place. I do
think that it is somewhat of a deterrent for the small time users on the street. Research has shown
that it is the low level street dealers, mules and addicts that this affects most, but if we didn t start
with them then where? You must punish the user just as much as the dealer or kingpins . The
dealers would not have any business if it was not for the users and if we can get to them easier than
the main dealers, than I am all for mandatory sentencing.
As you can see I m for mandatory sentencing and for

Fox News Bias
Halloween is a liberal holiday because we re teaching our children to beg for something for
free...we re teaching kids to knock on other people doors and ask for handouts. Sean Hannity
from Fox News said in October of 2007. Fox News has been the mainstream, go to news station
for years. The popular news station gained the trust of the public by its credibility and ability to
spread news fast and efficiently. Now, in the twenty first century, people are questioning the
credibility of Fox News and if they are using personal biases to present stories and segments. Fox
News presents information of conservative views, good ol fashion American Traditions, and
creating heroic personas of American figures through glory bias.
Conservative views can be visible on all platforms of Fox News media. Topics that were under
the Trending in opinions tab on FoxNews.com, as of January 2, 2015 at 1:34p.m, were the
following Obamas budget: Taxing Grandma to fund the AFL CIO, Free community college? For
Obama s plan to succeed business must be part of the equation, Obamas housing recovery plan
could bring another great recession, Mitt Romney was right: To win in 2016, here s what
republicans must do now All of the trending opinions on fox news are biased towards glorifying the
republican; a more conservative party, and making the democratic party out as fools. There has and
will always be a divide on conservative versus liberal ideologies, there is nothing we can change
about that.

Nice To Eat With You Chapter 1 Summary
Ryan Klemann
AP Literature and Composition
Mrs. Mills Chapter 5 Nice to Eat with You: Acts of Communion: As Kumalo arrives in
Johannesburg, he dines with Msimangu and other priests, which include blacks and whites. The
priests at the mission sit together forgetting about color, signifying that the two races can be
together in agreement, and they welcome Kumalo s story with interest. Kumalo talks about his
village and describes how people will leave Ixopo and create a sense of brokenness in the tribe,
which are all falling to ruin. One priest wished to hear more, but got up and left to attend other
affairs, symbolizing an end of a relationship. At this meal, news of a Johannesburg couple that had
been beaten and robbed by a couple of natives was discussed. This meal of the priests is not only
an act of communion, but it represents a bond created by two different races, which is the main
issue of this novel. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like Christ, Arthur teaches to love each race and be considerate towards whites and blacks. As
Arthur Jarvis died in chapter eleven, he brought optimism and change to the people, similar to Jesus
Christ bringing redemption and spiritual growth of many people. Due to his teachings being
rejected by many people of South Africa, he was killed. As Arthur Jarvis was killed, there were
pictures of crucified Christ and Abraham Lincoln, both people who fought for what they believed
in, human compassion, and were killed for their beliefs. Through Arthur Jarvis, the reader sees
sacrifice through his actions, which relate him to Jesus Christ, the greatest sacrifice we know of.

And Then There Were None Theme Essay
Justice is one of, if not, the most important themes in the novel And Then There Were None. And
Then There Were None puts a twist on the way justice is achieved by making the murder victims
murderers themselves, making the reader think if the murders were acts of justice or were they
the insane acts of a crazy man. Judge Wargrave, we find out at the very end of the book, is the
killer but acts as the detective throughout the book, making it a shocking ending when we find
out that he did it. Wargrave s idea on justice may seem warped to us, but in his mind it makes
perfect sense. His idea on justice is similar to the concept of an eye for eye . He believes that he
should be in control of who lives and who dies, almost like a god. But to begin with, he s an old
man and he s been presiding over courts of law for years. That is to say, he s played God
Almighty for a good many months every year. That must go to a man s head eventually. He gets
to see himself as all powerful, as holding the power of life and earth and it s possible that his brain
might snap and he might want to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Marston is the first character to die because to the Judge, Marston is the least
guilty. The last character to die is Vera, whom the Judge thinks is the guiltiest. There are flaws in
his reasoning however. The Judge kills the Rodger s couple separately instead of back to back or
at the same time; they both were involved in the same act so they should have been killed back to
back or together. Another example is when General MacArthur is killed third. The story tells us
that the General purposefully sends out a soldier to die. John Gordon Macarthur, that on the 4th of
January, 1917, you deliberately sent your wife s lover, Arthur Richmond, to his death. If the Judge
followed his reasoning, then the General would have been killed later in the

Powerful Regional Differences
National Unity or Powerful Regional Differences Since the Civil War, the United States has
undergone many changes in the people s attitude towards each other and the government. I believe
that the United States has gone through both national unity and powerful regional differences since
the Civil War ended in 1865. The national unity of the nation took awhile to come together, and it
started with the Civil Rights movement. The Civil Rights movement started to make the american
people come together and fight for a single thought or idea. Martin Luther King Jr. was the
idealized figure behindthis movement. He wanted blacks to have equal rights as whites, and he
made sure everyone knew that. He gave speeches, held rallies, and protested companies

  • 2. Stereotypes In The Color Purple In the book, The Color Purple includes a big story which Celie s life is filled with rough times throughout her life. It is packed with religion, gender, and race, it tells a marvelous story. This book took part in the past where the job of females took care of the children and served the food and also where males worked really hard to maintain their families. In the text it talks about how people use colored people to get rich while the colored gets discriminated and left homeless. Both are really different in this environment and that they don t go well together. Different genders have different rights on what to do in the real world. Women are given orders on to feed the male and the family. In this case, Celie is forced to cook in the family I am the one to cook (1 Walker). A moment of silence should then be kept to give off your good feeling. This concept teaches the employee how to praise him or herself. The praising is followed up by a handshake or physical gesture to show you support their success. I agree the more you praise the individual the closer they are to praising themselves. Reported by National Geographic s David Braun, corn was developed and cultivated somewhere in central Mexicoover 8,700 years ago. Maize, another name for corn, was not found naturally in the wild, but came about due to the domestication of a variety of similar species from the ancient Native Americans. Corn derived from the teosinte plant, which is a wild grass containing kernels smaller than modern day corn. • 17. Analysis Of Aldous Huxley s Brave New World The identity of a person is often considered to be synonymous with his culture, whether it be to a distinct nation, race, or way of thought. However, one of the greatest conflicts a person can endure is one with himself, when he is caught between the innate desire to belong and a sense of self and difference from the society that he belongs to. In Aldous Huxleys Brave New World, such is the case with Bernard Marx. Marx faces the immense dilemma of not fitting in in the greatly socialized and cohesive civilization that he lives in, the Brave New World. Despite how much Bernard disdains this world, which he identifies as brainwashed and infantile, he cannot help desiring to belong. Huxley brilliantly contrasts Marx s hatred of his civilization with his eventual plea to remain a part of it after his exile is sealed in order to highlight the natural desire of man to belong, regardless of how different he may feel from his surroundings. While most people in Bernard s world belong to one of a handful of groups, and are mere copies of identical clones, Bernard is entirely unique. Despite belonging to the highest caste of Alphas in his society, Bernard lacks both the physical and psychological characteristics of any Alpha. The author is unknown, yet it is easy to see that they have a unique writing style. For example, the main character is referred to as Everyman. This appears to be done with the intention to relate the character to the audience. In this English morality play, the author uses a unique style of allegory to express many desires that people often have throughout their life. Through this unique expression, many characters are introduced that show man s desire. In the end, everyman turns from his self centeredness and comes to God. This is only after he realizes that everyone else has abandoned him. Throughout the play, numerous characters are introduced. What is unique concerning the characters is that most of them do not have individual personalities. Everyman and God are the only main characters that are not just moral personalities. Death is one of the first on the scene, and tells everyman I am sent to thee rom God out of his majesty (Everyman line 90 91). Everyman appears to be confused as to why death would be sent to him. If you are a renter or homeowner (residential policy); or business owner (non residential policy) and your property is located in a NFIP participating community, you can purchase a policy, explained FEMA. There is typically a 30 day wait period between when you buy a flood insurance policy and when it goes into effect, but there are some exceptions. During the home buying process, realtors should alert all prospective buyers if a house they are selling is in a flood zone and therefore requires the purchase of flood insurance. This is also something a home inspector should make note of in the report for prospective buyers. Typically bank lenders will not sign off on a mortgage unless flood insurance is purchased and in place at the time of closing, so it is beneficial to be aware of FEMA s 30 day wait ... According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), public health data points shows that the global burden of breast cancer in women, measured by the number of times something happens, death, and financial based costs, is large and on the rise. Worldwide, it is estimated that more than one million women are diagnosed with breast cancerevery year, and more than 410,000 will die from the disease (GIVE SOURCE). In these settings, breast canceris therefore diagnosed at late stages and women may receive poor... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, a number of studies have depicted the need for BC screening/early detection in LMICs to prevent early deaths of women presenting with late stage at diagnosis. Yet, many complex issues harvest in the context of planning and implementation of BC screening in LMICs. So far, mammography has remained the main examination of BC screening throughout the world. Adequate evidence exists from some randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that mammography screening is associated with significant reductions in BC mortality. But in order to be effective, mammographic screening programs must be of high quality, with appropriate targeting and of sufficient frequency. In LMICs, BC incidence is lower and occurs more in younger age groups when breast tissue is dense. Promoting a need for another, more appropriate screening examination to take place. Also, there is a lack of resources for implementing any population level screening programs using mammography. Running a mammographic screening program becomes impossible and pointless in LMICs since the costs are too high and the benefits are insignificant. Maximum cost benefit can only take place if screening is done in an age group which has a sufficiently high incidence of BC and sufficient ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The cinematography, sound, and narrative structure cemented Citizen Kane s legacy and influenced films of all genres for years to come. James Naremore wrote an essay that described why Citizen Kanewas held up to such high regard, using examples from other scenes to highlight how the use of certain techniques help to make the film stand out. Naremore writes that Kane is important for many reasons, among them its ingenious juggling of time and perspective, its carefully designed sound track, and its influential use of wide angle, deep focus photography. Citizen Kane focuses on developing scenes from the protagonist s past, and how his death has affected the secondary plot of a reporter investigating his last words. The narrative strategy, in which the whole story is told in flashback from slightly different points of view (the equivalent of the unreliable narrator in fiction), was unprecedented in a Hollywood film. The technique of telling the story of Kane from multiple points of view dispels the illusion that we are learning the truth about Charles Foster Kane. As numerous commentators such as Naremore have observed, the film is like a complicated jigsaw puzzle which the viewer must piece together, bit by bit, in order to see the whole picture. Only in the final moments of the film, when we despair of ever discovering the meaning of Rosebud, does the film s narration return us to a privileged omniscient perspective, revealing the final missing piece. One scene that helps develop the unique structure is the beginning scene, with the film opening to Kane s death. Most films do not begin with the character s death, especially with a detailed scene like Citizen Kane. At the start of the film, the camera pans up and over a sign on a wire fence ... • 27. Entanglement and Quantum Mechanics Entanglement is one of the most fundamental and yet unintuitive concepts in quantum mechanics. Maximally entangled two qubit states, often called Bell states, where shown to violate classical (local) correlation properties [33, 34] and are an essential building block for quantum communication and distributed quantum computation. Unfortunately, such entangled states are also difficult to generate and sustain as interaction with a noisy environment typically leads to rapid loss of their unique quantum properties. In the context of QSC, such an entanglement has been generated exploring various types of interactions such as direct qubit qubit interaction [35, 36], coupling to a common cavity mode [37] or photon mediated interactions for qubits embedded in a waveguide [38]. In this context, remote entanglement of spatially separated quantum systems have important im plications in addressing the scaling problem for quantum information processing. Indeed, as a solution to this scaling issue, we propose here to follow a modular approach where the quantum information is encoded, protected and locally manipulated in small units consisting of a few cavity modes or/and few qubits and the communication between modules is ensured through quantum teleportation techniques. Sharing of a pair of entangled subsystems between two modules is central for these teleportation pro tocols. While the isolation of the modules simplifies the scaling by avoiding any undesired cross talk between the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mark Twain was born in 1835, and lived to see the Civil War start. This is a big influence on his writing, because his two most famous works, The Adventures of Tom Sawyerand The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. They both take place in the time before the Civil War and both have major themes of race and morals. Mark Twain characterizes Jim and Huck as he builds their bonds and relationships. At the same time he teaches that race should not determine the status of a relationship. Twain characterizes Huck from the beginning. He also characterizes Huck all through his first book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. When Huck is first introduced, many things are shown about him. Twain shows how simpleminded Huck is and how adventurous his spirit. Huck hates the normal sivilized ways of life and education. This reflects the time period because a big issue in society was being free. The slaves wanted to be free and the regularWhen Huck starts talking about his family s attempts to educate him, he says Miss Watson (...) had come to live with her and took a set at me with a spelling book (Twain 2). Acidity is manifested by several uncomfortable symptoms such as burning and pain in the chest and stomach; nausea; bitter taste in mouth; vomiting and discomfort in the stomach. Acidity, been one of the commonest digestive complaints. At some point in our lives, we have all suffered from these symptoms. Acidity is generally stimulated by consumption of spicy foods, junk food, carbonated drinks, fried foods, chocolates, stress or lack of sleep. Obesity, pregnancy and other medical conditions may also give rise to acidity. Irrespective of the reason, acidity can prove to be an uncomfortable experience. There are several natural remedies that work wonders in keeping acidity at bay and also in providing relief from acidity. Though, chronic acidity complaints may require proper medications. Some of natural remedies are as follows: Bananas They prove to be an effective antidote for acidity, as it has a high pH value. More the pH value, lesser are the symptoms of acidity. Banana further, enhances the production of mucous by the stomach lining which reduces the harmful effects of acidity. The high fibre content of banana decreases the recurrence of acidity. • 37. The Importance Of Being A Hero The most important and impactful part of being a hero is essentially doing heroic things. A heroic action, in this case, would be qualified as an act that benefits others more than yourself and is characterized as having a generally upstanding moral motive. In this respect, Dr. Manhattan would be the most successful hero because not only does he end a war, but he is also the reason that nuclear war was postponed for so long (Moore, Gibbons 130). Just having a godlike hero present that could stop nuclear conflict at any time was enough to keep countries from annihilating all humans. From this logic, Dr. Manhattan saved the most lives for the longest period of time therefore doing the most good. This outweighs his lack of empathy and compassion. Regardless of how he feels about people, he still believes they have the capability of doing good and he protects them. Similarly, Ozymandias also takes part in preventing nuclear war. However, he does this in what is essentially the most evil way: by killing millions (Moore, Gibbons 401). He thinks he is doing what is right, but he is responsible for upholding values rather than revolutionizing the world. Killing millions of innocent citizens, by most people s standards, immoral and unjust, and therefore Veidt is not acting entirely as a hero. That s especially true if our reading is guided (as it often is) by headings in whatever translation we are reading. The ESV, for example, shapes our perception with Job Continues: Where is Wisdom? at the beginning of chapter 28. The NASB implies the same idea Job Tells of Earth s Treasures. Likewise, the NKJV reads Job s Discourse on Wisdom. The NIV has no break at all between chapters 27 and 28, suggesting that Job simply continued. Nonetheless, it seems best to understand chapter 28 as an interlude during which the reading/listening audience was granted breathing space. There had been words in profusion, overwhelming in sheer volume to say nothing of tone. Thus, time for silent contemplation was essential. That might also imply Job himself stopped speaking into the drama. Where may wisdom be found? We might ask why inquire about wisdom at this point? Hasn t the disputation been about justice and righteousness? If anything, Job might have been asking where is God to be found? Is this another hint that they had all missed something critical? Is it a preparation for the specific wisdom focus in God s discourses? Whoever uttered these verses, their contents are rich. Sure it benefits defendants, prosecutors, defense attorneys and judges, but what about the victims or their families. I like what District Attorney Gibbons was trying to do, if it was all or none with no exceptions. The only time that I feel that plea bargains should not be used is in any murder or rape charge. The second thing we must look at is mandatory sentencing. I agree that we should have mandatory sentencing. You can read different studies that it does not work and it takes power away from judges. Sometimes trial rates and sentencing delays occur because of mandatory sentencing. Just think of how many repeat offenders we would have if it was not in place. I do think that it is somewhat of a deterrent for the small time users on the street. Research has shown that it is the low level street dealers, mules and addicts that this affects most, but if we didn t start with them then where? You must punish the user just as much as the dealer or kingpins . The dealers would not have any business if it was not for the users and if we can get to them easier than the main dealers, than I am all for mandatory sentencing. As you can see I m for mandatory sentencing and for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Fox News Bias Halloween is a liberal holiday because we re teaching our children to beg for something for free...we re teaching kids to knock on other people doors and ask for handouts. Sean Hannity from Fox News said in October of 2007. Fox News has been the mainstream, go to news station for years. The popular news station gained the trust of the public by its credibility and ability to spread news fast and efficiently. Now, in the twenty first century, people are questioning the credibility of Fox News and if they are using personal biases to present stories and segments. Fox News presents information of conservative views, good ol fashion American Traditions, and creating heroic personas of American figures through glory bias. Conservative views can be visible on all platforms of Fox News media. Topics that were under the Trending in opinions tab on FoxNews.com, as of January 2, 2015 at 1:34p.m, were the following Obamas budget: Taxing Grandma to fund the AFL CIO, Free community college? For Obama s plan to succeed business must be part of the equation, Obamas housing recovery plan could bring another great recession, Mitt Romney was right: To win in 2016, here s what republicans must do now All of the trending opinions on fox news are biased towards glorifying the republican; a more conservative party, and making the democratic party out as fools. There has and will always be a divide on conservative versus liberal ideologies, there is nothing we can change about that. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Nice To Eat With You Chapter 1 Summary Ryan Klemann AP Literature and Composition Mrs. Mills Chapter 5 Nice to Eat with You: Acts of Communion: As Kumalo arrives in Johannesburg, he dines with Msimangu and other priests, which include blacks and whites. The priests at the mission sit together forgetting about color, signifying that the two races can be together in agreement, and they welcome Kumalo s story with interest. Kumalo talks about his village and describes how people will leave Ixopo and create a sense of brokenness in the tribe, which are all falling to ruin. One priest wished to hear more, but got up and left to attend other affairs, symbolizing an end of a relationship. At this meal, news of a Johannesburg couple that had been beaten and robbed by a couple of natives was discussed. Like Christ, Arthur teaches to love each race and be considerate towards whites and blacks. As Arthur Jarvis died in chapter eleven, he brought optimism and change to the people, similar to Jesus Christ bringing redemption and spiritual growth of many people. Due to his teachings being rejected by many people of South Africa, he was killed. As Arthur Jarvis was killed, there were pictures of crucified Christ and Abraham Lincoln, both people who fought for what they believed in, human compassion, and were killed for their beliefs. Through Arthur Jarvis, the reader sees sacrifice through his actions, which relate him to Jesus Christ, the greatest sacrifice we know of. (Foster, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. And Then There Were None Theme Essay Justice is one of, if not, the most important themes in the novel And Then There Were None. And Then There Were None puts a twist on the way justice is achieved by making the murder victims murderers themselves, making the reader think if the murders were acts of justice or were they the insane acts of a crazy man. Judge Wargrave, we find out at the very end of the book, is the killer but acts as the detective throughout the book, making it a shocking ending when we find out that he did it. Wargrave s idea on justice may seem warped to us, but in his mind it makes perfect sense. His idea on justice is similar to the concept of an eye for eye . He believes that he should be in control of who lives and who dies, almost like a god. But to begin with, he s an old man and he s been presiding over courts of law for years. That is to say, he s played God Almighty for a good many months every year. That must go to a man s head eventually. He gets to see himself as all powerful, as holding the power of life and earth and it s possible that his brain might snap and he might want to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Marston is the first character to die because to the Judge, Marston is the least guilty. The last character to die is Vera, whom the Judge thinks is the guiltiest. There are flaws in his reasoning however. The Judge kills the Rodger s couple separately instead of back to back or at the same time; they both were involved in the same act so they should have been killed back to back or together. Another example is when General MacArthur is killed third. The story tells us that the General purposefully sends out a soldier to die. John Gordon Macarthur, that on the 4th of January, 1917, you deliberately sent your wife s lover, Arthur Richmond, to his death. If the Judge followed his reasoning, then the General would have been killed later in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Powerful Regional Differences National Unity or Powerful Regional Differences Since the Civil War, the United States has undergone many changes in the people s attitude towards each other and the government. I believe that the United States has gone through both national unity and powerful regional differences since the Civil War ended in 1865. The national unity of the nation took awhile to come together, and it started with the Civil Rights movement. The Civil Rights movement started to make the american people come together and fight for a single thought or idea. Martin Luther King Jr. was the idealized figure behindthis movement. He wanted blacks to have equal rights as whites, and he made sure everyone knew that. He gave speeches, held rallies, and protested companies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
