Obstacle Avoiding Robot
Robotics is a branch of science that deals with Mechanical, Electrical and Software fields. Robots are the machines that are used in our day-to-day to life to reduce men power and work accurately without any distortions. Robots can be classified into two different sections basing upon their skills as Automated and Manual. Obstacle detector is a Automated robot which itself recognizes the obstacle in its path and moves in free direction. Robot detects the obstacle by using two IR Sensors placed in front.
The IR sensors are placed on left and right side of the robot through which continuous Infrared radiation is emitted for detection of obstacles in the path. These IR Sensors are connected to a controlling element AT89c51 µc. When a obstacle is placed in the path of robot IR beam is reflected to the sensor from the obstacle. On detecting obstacle in the path sensor sends 0 volts to µc. This 0 voltage is detected by Microcontroller which avoids the obstacle by taking left or right turn. Similarly if the sensor sends +5v to Microcontroller, the Microcontroller assumes it as clear path and makes the robot to move in straight.
Two motors namely right motor and left motor are connected to Motor driver IC (L293D). L293D is interface with Microcontroller. Microcontroller sends logic 0 & logic 1 as per the programming to driver IC which makes motors to rotate in clockwise and anticlockwise direction. Wheels attached to the motors rotate accordingly with the motor shaft causing in the moment of the robot by wheels. In front portion of the robot a free wheel is attached to move the robot easily in any direction as per the requirement.
A 12Volts DC battery is attached to the circuit. As the microcontroller and sensors requires only 5v, set of resistors and capacitors are used to supply 5v DC to them. Power Management System is not maintained in the circuit as the battery can be removed after the usage of robot. So it does not cause any loss in the power of battery.
This type of robots has multiple applications in various fields. They can be used to know the strength of the opposite army in defense system. They can be used as floor and wall cleaners. They are used in automated GPS vehicles to calculate the moment of the vehicle overhead. These robots are easy to construct and cheaper in cost with long durability.

The main objective of our proposed system is to safe guard people’s life, government property and saves time of the passengers. This will focus on the system that will detect the notch that is employed, which helps to run the locomotive ,on the LCD screen and also detects the chain that is pulled in the compartment automatically on the LCD screen with the help of RF module. Position of notch that is displayed when the notch is applied. In general notch is applied to enhance or decrease the speed of the locomotive under the supervision of loco pilot. The increasing and decreasing of notch position should be done gradually in order to increase or decrease the speed. So, by displaying the present position of notch on the LCD screen become ease to identify the notch position. In addition to it, when passengers feel emergency in order to stop the train, they have the right to pull the chain. Once the chain is pulled in any compartment the locomotive tends to travel approximately one kilometer in response to the pulled chain. After once the train is stopped loco pilot has the responsibility to resolve the emergency facing by the passengers, finding where the chain is pulled by checking all the compartments sequentially. In order to save time by checking all the compartments and traveling one kilometer huge distance in emergency driver identifies the compartment where the chain is pulled with the help of RF module placed in the compartments and the same will be displayed on the LCD screen.

Because the electrical train become a popular mode and Eco-Friendly of transport in largest cities in the world in our day life and due to increase in the train accidents. In this paper a train collision avoidance system is designed and implemented using Arduino NANO and an ultrasonic sensor. A prototype is used to explain the system function using; two train samples on single track. The ultrasonic sensor is connected to the Arduino NANO to transmit the measured distance to the microcontroller and make the decision to stop the train. The ultrasonic sensor on both trains from the front end and continually measures the distance between them and when they reach the decided distance a signal to the trains engines will slow down or stop both trains to avoid a collision while when the ultrasonic sensors from the rear-end continually measure the distance between them and when it reaches the decided distance a signal to the train engine will slow down and stop the first train to avoid a collision.

It is possible to propose a dynamic time-based coordination schemes where the green signal time of the traffic lights is assigned based on the present conditions of the traffic. In this study, we adapt the approach to take data/input/image from object/ subject/vehicle and to process the input data by Computer and Microcontroller and finally display it on the traffic light signal to control the Closed Loop System.

The "Automatic Reservoir Monitoring and Control System", called ARMAC for short, is a computerized control system for the monitoring and control of dam gates and reservoirs. Today, ARMAC is successfully applied in numerous dams all over the world. The ARMAC system measures the water level of a dam every 15 minutes. The system takes into consideration the geographical contours of each reservoir, the so-called area volume curves, as well as decades of historical river-flow data and the outfall water levels. The real-time data are compared with the stored data and the current local requirements. This way the optimum opening of the spillway gates is calculated. Rising and sinking water levels are measured by means of water level sensors installed in upstream and downstream positions. The ARMAC software allows the exact monitoring and adjustment of the water flows to maintain specified water levels.

At present railways is one of the most widely used
transportation system in the world. Approximately 10,000
billion freight tonne-Kilometres are travelled around the world
every year and more than 5 billon passengers travelled per year
as per Railway statistic report. But till now railway
transportation system are not safe. Many countries railway
faces many collisions during travelling in every year as a result
happened lot of damages and casualties.
But if we add Anti Collision Technology (ACT) in railway then we
can prevent any types of collision. It is an innovative technology
which can be detect collision object from specific distance of
train and avoid collision dynamically and efficiently by using
ultrasound and embedded system. The common reason of the
train collisions are malfunctioning train signals or lights, failing
mechanics, safety gates not in place,crossings that are
unprotected, negligence of train conductor and lack of
awareness of the people.
4. 1. ARDUINO UNO MICROCONTROLLER
A Micro controller comprises of an incredible CPU
firmly combined with memory, different I/O

5. 2. ULTRASONIC SENSOR
An ultrasonic sensor transmits ultrasonic
waves into the air and detects reflected
waves from an object. There are many
applications for ultrasonic sensors, such as
in intrusion alarm systems, automatic door
openers and backup sensors for
automobiles. Accompanied by the rapid
development of information processing
technology, new fields of application, such
as factory automation equipment and car
electronics, are increasing and should
continue to do so.
6. 3. RADAR SYSTEM MODULE
This Arduino Radar Project is implemented with
the help of Processing Application. Radar is a
long-range object detection system that uses
radio waves to establish certain parameters of an
object like its range, speed and position. Radar
technology is used in aircrafts, missiles, marine,
weather predictions and automobiles. Even
though the title says Arduino Radar Project,
technically the project is based on Sonar
technology as I will be using an Ultrasonic Sensor
to determine the presence of any object in a
particular range.
7. 4. DISPLAY UNIT
A liquid-crystal display (LCD) is a flat-panel
display or other electronically modulated
optical device that uses the light-modulating
properties of liquid crystals combined
with polarizers. Liquid crystals do not emit
light directly, instead using
a backlight or reflector to produce images in
color or monochrome. LCDs are available to
display arbitrary images (as in a general-
purpose computer display) or fixed images
with low information content, which can be
displayed or hidden.
8. HOW DO IT WORKS?
• All the components of the system are connected
with the control unit. The power supply supplies the
power to the control unit. The ultrasonic sensors are
used to detect the obstacles in the train path.
Ultrasonic sensors work on a principle similar to
sonar which evaluates distance of a target by
interpreting the echoes from ultrasonic sound
waves.
• The module can easily be interfaced to micro
controllers where the triggering and measurement
can be done using two pins. The sensor transmits
an ultrasonic wave and produces an output pulse
that corresponds to the time required for the burst
echo to return to the sensor.
• By measuring the echo pulse width, the distance to

locomotives operated a series of test
runs, simulating scenarios including
head-on collisions, rear-end
collisions, and Spads. The trains ran
at converging speeds of 200km/h for
the head-on tests, and 60km/h for
Spad and collision demonstrations.

Is the topic current and will it be relevant to my audience?
What articles, blogs, and magazines may have something related to my topic?

Once you find your sources, you will want to evaluate your sources using the following questions:
Author:
Who is the author?
Why should I believe what he or she has to say on the topic?
Is the author seen as an expert on the topic? How do you know?
Current:
How current is the information in the source?
When was the source published?
Is the information out-of-date?
Accuracy:
Is the content accurate?
Is the information presented objectively? Do they share the pros and cons?
After consulting a variety of sources, you will need to narrow your topic. For example, the topic of internet safety is huge, but you could narrow that topic to include internet safety in regards to social media apps that teenagers are using heavily. A topic like that is more specific and will be relevant to your peers. Some questions to think about to help you narrow your topic:
What topics of the research interest me the most?
What topics of the research will interest my audience the most?
What topics will the audience find more engaging? Shocking? Inspiring?
Now, that you have narrowed your topic, you will want to organize your research in a structure that works. There are some common organizational patterns based on the kind of research you are doing.
Organizational Structures:
Cause and Effect- this kind of structure is great for explaining the causes and effects of a topic
Compare and Contrast- in this pattern you highlight the similarities and differences of the topic
Explain process- this structure is great for outlining a series of steps to follow;
Definition- if you want to make sure your audience understands what something is using illustrations, meanings, clarifying misconceptions, you may want to use this structure
Classification- a common organizational structure is grouping like topics or facts from the research together. For instance, in the internet safety about social media apps, you may organize the research where you look at each social media app one at a time
After you’ve done your research, it’s time to put your presentation together. The first step in the process is to introduce the topic. This is a great time to connect your topic to something that your audience can relate. In other words, why should they listen to all the information you will be sharing in your research presentation? What is in it for them? You may also want to include a graphic or image to grab their attention.

The next step in your presentation is to state your claim or topic clearly. Your teacher may even call this your thesis. Since this research presentation is a result of your hard work and searching, you want to make sure you support the claims or points in your presentation with facts from your research findings. Make sure you give the author proper credit for helping you share your ideas. If one of your sources has a video that is relevant to your topic, you can add the video as added support. Keep in mind the length of the video and the amount of time you have for your presentation. For a 5 minute speech, the video should be no longer than 30 seconds.
Questions to consider:
How will you state the author of the source?
Will you need to cite the source on the slide?
What are some ways you can engage your audience so they feel like they are a part of the presentation? Some ideas to consider is by taking a quick poll like: by a show of hands, how many of you think school uniforms are a way to cut down on bullying? Another suggestion is to have them hold up a certain number of fingers to see if they agree or disagree. Finally, you can share a story that the audience can relate to that makes them laugh.
After all the applause, your audience may have some questions. Be prepared to answer some of their questions by making a list of questions you think they might ask. You may also want to share the presentation with them by providing the link to your presentation, if they want more information.
