Abstract
 The aim of this project is to provide an Automate
unmanned railway gate control at a level crossing
and track switching at a junction
Project Definition
 The objective of this project is to manage the
control system of railway gate using the
microcontroller.
Introduction
 Now a days, India is the country which having
world’s largest railway network.
 It is definitely impossible to stop the running train in
critical situation.
 Railway safety is a crucial aspect of rail operation
over the world.
 Railways being the cheapest mode of transportation
are preferred over all the other means.
 Many railway accidents occurring at unmanned
railway crossings due to the carelessness.
Block Diagram
Hardware Components
 IR Sensors
 Motors
 Driver Motor
 Alarm
 LCD
Motor & Driver Motor
 Driver motor is used to run the motor for the operation of
gates
IR Sensors
 In this IR sensors are used to sense the arriving and
departure of the train to put on & off the railway gate
 One of the sensor is placed one kilometer before the
railway gate to put on the gate
 The other sensor is placed 500 meters after the railway
gate to take off the gate
Alarm
 When the trail is arriving near the railway gate alarm
will be on to alert public
LCD
 Here LCD is used to display the arriving message of
train in order to alert the public
Software
 KEIL COMPILER
 EMBEDDED C
 VISUAL BASICS
Advantages
 It results in economy of operation
 Elimination of human error
 It frees human beings from mental task
 Saving in energy requirements
Conclusion
Hence the unmanned railway gates operate according to
the data input from sensors to microcontroller. First an
alarm is triggered and then the gate is operated
