OCTOBER 2013 Defining mission command Mission command is the exercise of authority and
direction by the commander using mission orders to enable disciplined initiative within the
commander s intent to empower agile and adaptive leaders in the conduct of unified land
operations[footnoteRef:1]. The commander is the central figure of exercising mission command;
he must be able to blend the science of control with the art of command as to integrate the
warfighting functions in order to accomplish the mission. During the exercise of mission command,
the commander understands the problem, predicts the end state, visualizes the nature and design of
the operation, describes time, space, resources and purpose, directs the warfighting functions and
constantly assesses the process. He must clearly understand the Higher Command s intent and
clearly transmit his orders to his subordinates. His subordinates pay essential role as mission
command system begins with people. Commanders base their mission command system on human
characteristics more than on equipment and procedures. Trained personnel are essential to an
effective mission command system[footnoteRef:2]. [1: ADP 5.0, The operation process,

Physician Assistant Career
Choosing a career path starts in high school. The choices you make, the classes you take, and the
activities you re involved in all matter in the path that you re pursuing. The competitiveness of
your career path will vary, the more competitive the career path is the more that you need to offer
to the colleges you apply to. My research consisted of finding the facts about the work involved,
the lifestyle, and the pay of a general physicianand a physician assistant. I have concluded from my
research that I want to pursue a career as a physician s assistant. The average salary for a physician

Critical Aspects Of The Education System
One of the most critical aspects of the education system is the assessment of pupils learning.
Biggs Tang (2011) determine that assessment is the senior partner in the instructional process.
Get it wrong, and everything else collapses (page 195 7). Assessment is one of the most
important aspects of teaching and learning, it ensures that student learning is checked and
conclusions are made, to put it simply, assessment shows how well pupils have learned what they
were supposed to, and it is the only feasible way to check if learning outcomes have been
achieved or not. Throughout this essay I will be evaluating the purpose of assessment and how it
effects pupils in our schools, I will be addressing the impact of pressure on performance,... Show

In 1998, under Margaret Thatcher s government, the Education Reform Act was put into place.
This brought into play compulsory tests for our 7, 11 and 14 year olds. In Scotland, Wales and
Northern Ireland however, SATs for 7 year olds have been abolished, the government has
realised children at 7 were much too young to be put under the pressure of tests. When children
reach 11 they sit their year 6 SAT s and these results are used in league tables to compare schools.
These results can be very negative for the schools, teachers, and pupils involved. Again this is
very different in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland where the year 6 Sat s league tables have
been abolished. Why is it that England is so out of kilter with the rest of the United Kingdom?
In 2003, the QCA asked primary school teachers how long they spent on average each week
preparing children for their year 6 sat s. Shockingly they found that 10 hours a week was spent
preparing children for the end of year SATs and between Christmas and May, schools spend
nearly 50% of their teaching time coaching children. This leaves very little time to teach anything
other than the topics needed to pass the tests. Pupils become very demotivated and stressed with
the pressure of failure. This was shown quite movingly when the BBC Panorama team interviewed
a year 6 student, the 11 year old told interviewers: I m really scared about my SATs, the head
teacher came and talked to us about our

Accounting Systems And The Operation Of A Business
Accounting systems are important to the operation of a business. They system helps organize a
lot of information that helps owners make necessary decisions regarding their companies. It also
helps keep up with purchases and sales and other things such as stocks. The system helps make
sure that a business can afford certain items. Keeping good records is a mandatory requirement of
a successful business. If the records are off by a lot, or even a little, it can change the whole look
of the business in regard to taxes, investors, and many other important aspects of business. Another
important aspect of business that owners must understand is what assets and liabilities are, and also
the stockholders equity. These are all shown in detail on the balance sheetwhich is discussed in the
next paragraph. An asset in its simplest form is a resource owned by a business. This could be
anything from cash and equipment, to patents and trademarks. Liabilities are debts or other
payments that the company owes. These can range from notes and bonds payable to deferred taxes
and accrued liabilities from the past. The last thing an owner must understand is the stockholders
equity. This is the claim that the owner has to the assets. These are all related and shown in detail
on a balance sheet. As the name implies, the assets must equal the liabilities plus the stockholders
equity. These three things are used to determine many things including assets to debt ratio which
can help determine

Occupational Therapy Model
Theories, models of practice, assessments and intervention are what shape occupational therapy
as a practice and how practitioners look at their clients and design the interventions they use. A
theory is an overarching description of a set of circumstances and their relationship with each
other (Fisher 2008). Fisher also describes models of practice and the way they help to organize
one s views and assess the things about a person or their environment that support or limit their
performance. An assessment and intervention is practical guidance of what specifically is being
addressed, how to look for those deficits and how to go about working with them. Whilst a
practitioner will probably use only one model when working with a client, they will... Show more

The Canadian Model of Occupational Performance and Engagement divide occupation in to self
care, leisure and productivity and emphasize the link which exists between occupational
performance and health. This model focusses on the affective (physical) and cognitive components
of the person whose self care, productivity and leisure occupations occur in the physical, social and
cultural environment while adding a fourth, the institutional environment comprising legal, political
and economic aspects. The emphasis is on the person, their occupation and environment, the
dynamic relationship between these three subsystems is occupational performance. (Duncan
2012) The Canadian Model of Occupational Performance and Engagement takes occupation
beyond performance as it considers the importance of engagement and inclusion, which can be
prevalent in a person who has had a stroke, due to the person being physically unable to partake
in occupations they previously did or feeling the negative impact of the stroke on their sense of
self. This is supported by Broken et al (2012) who suggests stroke has a detrimental impact on the

Personal Statement For The Support Group
Introduction For the support group that I led we planned on having it be focused around
testimonies. I wanted for us each to be able to get to know one another on a deeper level than we
had, specifically spiritually. I thought that doing five minute testimonies was a good way to be
able to get to know one another better while still not making everyone divulge all of their life to
people they are still getting to know and learning to trust. With the testimonies theme, I wanted my
icebreaker to lead into the importance of listening to our client s stories and using our story as a
platform for Christ. For my ending activity I wanted to lead into next support groups topic which
we had decided would be about our current walk with the Lord.
Group goals
At our first support group we decided that our goals would stay the same each week. Our primary
goal was to practice group facilitation and group participation. Our sub goals were to support one
another and get to know one another. We began our first support group with not really supporting
one another because there was no need for it; however, the second support group we supported
one another as we shared about our families. The third support group also got deeper in supporting
one another as we talked about our high school experiences. The fourth group I felt that we did not
exercise the sub goal to support one another because it was more educational than supportive.
I was nervous going after we talked about stress because it

There Will Come Soft Rain Technology Essay
In today s growing society, technology has brought many reforms to the way we operate on a
daily basis. Most tend to consider the positive effects of technology, and how much it has benefited
us both socially and in the workplace. However, there is a form of duality that comes with these
developments; Despite the seemingly positive outcomes associated with the benefits of technology,
there is also a lack of responsibilityon our part that results. Hence, over time it has been
increasingly difficult to draw the line between what is reasonable and what it simply too much

One of the many magnificent features of the house is the automated kitchen. This kitchen pampered
the family by preparing each meal, washing the dishes, and serving them all at the dinner table,
all responsibilities you would expect of a typical household. Early in the text, Bradbury
comprehensively describes the kitchen s seemingly perfect nature, In the kitchen the breakfast
stove gave a hissing sigh and ejected from its warm interior eight pieces of perfectly browned
toast, eggs sunnyside up, sixteen slices of bacon, two coffees, and two cold glasses of milk
(There Will Come Soft Rains 1). The precision and accuracy of the breakfast prepared was
impeccable: the milk cold, eggs and toast prepared to perfection, and exactly sixteen slices of
bacon to feed a family. With such an ideal, why would anyone need or want to cook breakfast,
when their effort could easily be replaced? Instead of relying on themselves, one would instead
choose to rely on this automated kitchen. The more someone ceases to rely on themselves, the less
responsible they ultimately become. Therefore, Bradbury s brief, yet powerful, use of imagery
supports the idea that it in such a technologically advanced environment, taking on basic
responsibilities is

The Problem Of Fertility Treatment
Fertility treatment is utilized when a couple is not able to conceive naturally. Most commonly, the
underlying problem could be medical. For instance, a woman may not be ovulating or a man may
not be producing enough amount of or healthy sperm.Depending on the causative problem, various
forms of treatment are offered different to the couples. Usually, couples try treatments for many
months or even years . However, these are not always effective. In addition , these treatments can
be quite costly. However, if successful , these can bring pleasure and happiness in the lives of the
struggling couples. The following options may be available for childless couples: IVF(In Vitro
Fertilisation),AI(Artificial Insemination) ,AIH(Artificial Insemination by Husband),AID(Artificial
Insemination by Donor),and Surrogacy.
The issue of infertility can be heart wrenching specifically for couples who have wanted to have
children all their lives. In the Holy Bible , we read several stories about temporary infertility .
God promised Abraham and Sarah a child, but she did not bear a son, Isaac, until age 90 (Genesis
11:30).
Isaac, Rebekah s husband, prayed fervently, and God answered, resulting in the births of Jacob and
Esau (Genesis 25:21).
Rachel prayed, and at long last God opened her womb. She bore two sons, Joseph and Benjamin
(Genesis 30:1; 35:18).

The Organizational Of Symmetry Financial
This analysis is of the organizational of Symmetry Financial. This essay will discuss the attitudes,
leadership, managerial policies, and practices used by them. By using this data, I will provide a list
of recommendations on how to improve the company. This analysis will describe the culture, nature
of the company, motivational techniques, mores of communication used, and the emotional
intelligence. I will provide information about the company to ensure the readers understand all of
the different categories used to analyze the company. I will provide information on how individuals,
and groups of people behave within the organization. I will be evaluating their leadership
techniques and how the owners assist in the day to day running of the business.
One of the most important things a business needs to be successful is happy employees. It is
important for employees and managers have an established plan to deal with critical matters. They
must study the behavior of their employees to decide how they will achieve their desired goals.
Organizational behavior is the study of human behavior in organizational settings, the interface
between human behavior and the organization, and the organization itself. We can divide
organizational behavior into 3 separate categories. The first one is the individuals within the
organization. The second is the work group which is made by pacing workers into specific groups.
The last one is how the organization itself behaves.

Integrity In Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre
To contain a life, or even some fraction of it, in a single book is certainly a tall order among tall
orders. But Jane Erye is so thoroughly and immersively suffused with the minutest realities of
adolescence and early adulthood that I can t help but see every life in it. The eponymous heroine
s story is mine, yours, his, hers, theirs, anyone s, everyone s. Analyzing the novel via Virginia
Woolf s literary catechism, however, yields something of an oddity. For all its banal but tangible
plausibility, which was so many pages and episodes and humanities in the making, BrontГ« s novel
does not accord with the ideals Woolf crusades for, namely concepts that the latter refers to as
integrity and incandescence. Who s afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Near the book s end, the titular character has had her much vaunted wedding to Edward
Rochester spoiled by the news that he in fact already has a wife: the frothing, feral Bertha
Mason. This news, coupled with the Georgian/Victorian taboo against bigamy, and the revelation
that Rochester has been deliberately hiding the mentally ill Bertha from Jane (and in the same
house, no less) the entire time, sees Jane leave Thornfield to essentially wander England, aimless
and alone. Eventually, she reaches a crossroads both literally and metaphorically called
Whitcross, which leads her to a seemingly random village, wherein she s (semi miraculously)
reunited with three cousins she never knew she had: St. John, Diana, and Mary Rivers. This
discovery is especially important to Jane, considering that she s almost never had anyone she
could sincerely call family, let alone love and endear as such. One personal tragedy (i.e. regarding
Rochester), it seems, is met with an equally happy turn of chance lose a lover, gain a family. But if
all of that isn t questionably serendipitous enough on its own, it only gets

The Banking Concept Of Education, By Richard Rodriguez
Just listen. An individual who takes the guidance of others to heart possesses a priceless quality.
The authority figures in The Banking Concept of Education, by Paulo Freire demonstrate the
pivotal role that educators hold in the educational system. The authority figures in The
Achievement of Desire, by Richard Rodriguez show the impact of educators on an individual
student. Another text called Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior, by Amy Chua illustrates the
specific conditioning that authority figures implement on to students so that they can succeed in
their education. What it means to attain educational success is to fulfill the expectations of authority
figures in a student s education.

Individuals need to have the drive to succeed in education that the authorities believe is necessary
for the individuals to attain educational success. Authority figures don t want students to have poor
qualities like being lazy and self indulgent (Chua 55) that would inhibit their educational abilities.
Instead, they want their students to possess the positive qualities that they would approve of and
would advocate. Many parents believe that To get good at anything you have to work (Chua 52).
Even though the child s mentality may not be focused in this manner, it needs to become this way
by the influencing of the well intentioned parents. An ambitious quality that parent figures want is
for their children to practice, practice, practice (Chua 52) no matter how they feel or want to give
up. The parents mold virtuous qualities like the willingness to do things over and over (Chua 55)
into their child so that he or she can become good at school. This ambition is expected to be
demonstrated within the classroom as well. Authorities like teachers want their students to have the
ambition to complete all of the actions that they desire. A teacher wants a student to have ambition
where Any book they told me to read, I read (Rodriguez 219). By carrying out the instructions of the

Comparing The Scarlet Letter, Flowers, And The Comet
For centuries, humans have related nature to their lives in any way, shape, or form as a way of
coping with or understanding their current situations. No matter how intricate or complex human
nature is, we, as humans, still use nature and the colors presented in nature to explain events or
fears. Within the novelThe Scarlet Letter, flowers, the land on which the cabin lies, clothing and
their colors, the woods, and the comet are used to further explain situations in which characters
find themselves in. Flowers within the town and the homes of the town reveal the truth behind
certain places and people. The land of the cabin is paralleled to Hester herself and the world in
which she finds herself. The colors of their dresses and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The land on which Hester s cabin lies is also a direct parallel to Hester and her life. The test
states, It had been built by an earlier settler, and abandoned, because the soil about it was too
sterile for cultivation, (Hawthorne 121). This quotation proves that the land was deemed
infertile and no one believed that anything could be grown. However, Hester manages to grow a
few small plants. Even from a few plants, she still managed to grow something from what was
given to her. This same idea is repeated throughout her life. After, having Pearl, she was an
outcast, yet she still was able to make herself into a well known talented embroideress. She was
also still able to support herself and Pearl even though she was given nothing but shame. This
proves that Hester is not what the Puritanical society sees her as. She is more than they think she
is because, just as the infertile land, she was able to make something from nothing. Hester and
Pearl s clothing and color of the clothing also reveals their true position in society. Their strict
society wears quite basic clothing which has only begun to be adorned with Hester s embroidery.
Right from the beginning, Hester shows that she is defiant, no matter the circumstances which she
is under. When she emerges from the jail, the red letter immediately proves that she does not
follow societal norms. The novel states, On the breast of her gown, in

Conflicts In Touching Spirit Bear
Conflict shapes people s lives in many different ways, somethings that conflict can shape are our

For Cole he can t trust anyone and he has a rule that he will only trust those who fear him. Cole
does not think anyone cares or believes him. Cole thinks everyone is out to get him and no one

him. Garvey pretended to be a friend but Cole knew he was nothing more than a paid baby sitter
(3/4). This shows Cole doesn t trust anyone and fears those who aren t afraid of him. This conflict
shapes him by being seen as a coward to the world. Cole can t really help himself for not having
trust issues, his whole life he has never had someone to trust because his parents have never
really been parents to him. In one part of the book Cole gets mauled by the Spirit Bear and is
going into the light. At this very second he feels trust for the first time in his life. With his
fingertips he felt warmth. He felt the bears breath and heartbeat. And he felt one more thing. He
felt trust (95). This will shape Cole by letting him know he does have someone he can trust. Also
that this creature had defined him tried to kill him, and yet that is the only person/creature he has

Discourse Community Project Paper
Discourse Community Project A discourse community is a community that shares the same
discourses or values or goals as their community. An example of this would be a sports team or
organization. Players of these specific teams all work together to achieve a common goal; to win.
These players have a coach that is a powerful leader and that individual makes them strive to be the
best players they can be. Moreover, it is important for each player to have trust in each other and to
form bonds. They do this through communication. This is an important trait for them because if the
players do not trust their own teammates, there will be no unity. I myself can vouch for these
statements because I was once a part of many teams for multiple years. I was a part of sports
teams throughout my entire adolescence leading all the way to high school. When I had
experiences with my club teams, I came to realize just how important common connections and
goals were for a team to be prosperous and successful. When a team establishes trust and
friendships, they can truly work together as a whole. Often times the teams I was a part of lacked
in this area of bonding. Some of the girls on my soccer team would bicker behind others back and

comments and it is a way in which a team can stay connected and informed. For example, if
someone forgot something they might have needed in a game, they can use this application to send
a message to all of their teammates at the same time. Through the conversation of new information
this group can always stay informed and ready for whatever they must face

Proteins and Their Functions
Proteins The word protein originates from the Greek word protos which denotes the first rank of
importance , in all biological systems we find macromolecules called proteins which range from as
low as prokaryotes to higher eukaryotes. Naturally proteins are complex in nature performing
numerous functions that sustain life. Besides other polymers for instance nucleic acids,
polysaccharides, or lipid assembles, proteins account for almost over 50% of the total dry weight of
cells, They occupy the largest percentage in living cells both quantity and quality . Proteins are
involved in all biological processes, for instance enzymes(specific proteins), catalyze all chemical
reactions that occur in all life forms, they also transport and store wide range of ions and small
molecules as well as electrons. They play a role in the regulation of the expression of genetic
information and their transcription of translation level in connection with the control of growth and
differentiation of cells; they also among other important functions provide the mechanical support
and filamentation architecture within and between cells consequently important to cellular
contraction and coordination of motion (alan.j.cozzone, n.d). Considering their vital importance in
living organisms, biochemists have always given priority to the investigation of the structure and
functional property of proteins; they can be differentiated based on the number of amino acids

Post Secondary Education For The United States
Post secondary education in the United States is often viewed as a necessary step towards
financial security mostly for those who take part in it. The introduction of the GI Bill in the year
1944 labeled the post secondary education as a larger part of the American dream because it acted
as a ticket towards economic security. Today, approximately 20 million students in the United
States are in pursuit of a bachelor s degree, masters, or any other type of higher level educationsuch
as certifications and specialized courses (Friss, 2012). This elevated number of students
interested in becoming educated denotes that the cost of advanced education has and will
simultaneously continue to increase. Therefore, this fact has its pros and cons depending on
the career of choice and especially depending on how much one receives in return once entered
the workforce. Students in America pursue post secondary education for a diversity of motives.
Most do it for economic stability and consequently tend to develop a profession for the sake of
earning an income as their primary goal. Comfortable living accompanies such motive, action
which leads individuals to wish to obtain a substantial life where they may enjoy financial
freedom. Some students look for a broad, liberal arts education, while others become focused on a
specific career. However, there are students who simply enroll to take one or two classes for the
joy of learning and/or keeping up with their skills. Great

International Soccer s Influence on Diplomatic, Social,...
To what extent has international soccer influenced the world politically and socially? This research
question will be investigated using different books pertaining to the subject. The investigation will
cover the impacts of soccer in the 1930s during the First World War, the 1940s during the Second
World War and the 1970s during the Cold War
. The effect of soccer on a country s nationalism will
be researched as well. Soccer had a great impact on people s lives socially; it gave people hope
when in a time of need. It did not matter whether there was a war going on, or if there were
prisoners in camps, soccer was a popular activity to help people survive in the hardest of times.

Italy hosted the 1934 World Cup and Mussolini took this chance to try to spread the game across

power of Italy and they won the World Cup, which in turn, gained support for Mussolini. Soccer
not only affected nations governments but nations citizens as well. The country s fans are
passionate about soccer and about their country s team winning. A soccer game can be compared
to small war, there is much fighting, anger, and extreme nationalism during a soccer match. One
example of the extreme effect of a soccer match on the nation s people was in the 1936 Olympics.

INTRODUCTION
Rationale of the Study The airline industry in the Philippines started in 1941 when the Philippine
Airlines was founded. PAL then operated as a monopoly in domestic travel. Then other airline
companies emerged in the industry (Reference: PAL History, PAL Website). The airline
industry is
very dynamic. It changes from time to time. An airline company closes and another one opens. The
changes are very drastic making it very interesting to study about. One thing that proves this fast
changing pace is that PAL used to be the largest airline company in Asia. And currently, it is not

Whitening Your Teeth Research Paper
A good majority of people desire to have whiter teeth. Luckily, there are many actions you can take
in order to prevent new stains forming on your teeth. There are a number of different ways to
whiten your teeth. This article brings you useful tips for getting you teeth white and keeping them
that way.
Mouthwash may be causing some of your teeth discoloration. All of the alcohol and excess
chemicals that are present in mouthwash cause yellowish stains, because they remove the enamel
on your teeth that keeps them white. Check with your dentist, though, to be sure that you have
healthy enough teeth to skip mouthwash.
TIP! Before you embark on a program in whitening your teeth, keep in mind that whitening agents
are only effective on natural teeth. Dont ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The high acid content of strawberry juice helps you to remove discolorations from your tooth
enamel. This does not cost a lot of money and will help provide you with a beautiful smile.
Consider using natural coconut oil for whitening your teeth. Giving your teeth a 10 minute daily
rinse in coconut oil can have great effects on the whiteness of your smile. After approximately 10
minutes, make sure to spit it out, then brush like normal. You should start seeing results after just a
few days.
TIP! These bits of food will get caught in your teeth and leave stains. A great way to avoid getting
stains is by chewing sugar free gum.
Toothpastes that claim they will make your teeth whiter usually dont work. Although these
toothpastes provide some degree of whitening, you are going to need other, stronger methods to get
your teeth as white as you want them. If you insist on buying a whitening toothpaste, make sure to
get one that has baking soda in it.
Although mouthwashes help to improve the health of your mouth, they also cause teeth
discoloration. If you still prefer to use mouthwash, opt for a formula that is not brightly colored or
excessively

The Legacy Of Nero Claudius Caesar
One of the most infamous emperor during the Roman Empire was named Nero Claudius Caesar
(37 68 A.D). He was hedonistic, cruel and violent with people. Nero would always have lavish
parties had no sympathy for people. As an always wanted to raise to the top even if he had to
murder his own family. Since he mostly grew up with his mother Agrippina the Younger, he had a
high chance to become ruler of
In 54 A.D. Nero became emperor of Rome after the death of Claudius, who was thought to have
been poisoned by his wife Agrippina, who also happened to be Nero s mother. Nero s real name
was Lucius, but his mother decided that Nero Claudius Caesar was more suitable so she got him
to change it. Agrippina was always plotting in the background. As a wife of a former emperor and
mother to the current one, she saw herself as a new version of Livia.
Nero was only a teenager when he came to power, just seventeen years old. Having been under
the influence of his mother all his life, he now saw an opportunity to do what he wanted instead.
Within the first year of his reign he had made it obvious to her that she was not going to be sharing
his power. When an Armenian ambassador visited Rome, Nero did not let Agrippina sit next to him
to receive the guest.
During the following months, mother and son quarelled openly about his affair with an ex slave
girl called Acte. He was already married to Octavia, daulghter of Claudius. Agrippina did not
approve of this liaison and at this point started to get closer with Britannicus, Claudius s son with
the unfortunate Messalina. When Nero saw this he realised this could be a threat to his reign, so
he had Britannicus poisoned and forced Agrippina to move out of the palace, took her bodyguard
away and slapped a lawsuit on her.
Despite her distance from Court, Agrippina did not stop trying to interfere with things. Being the
daughter of Germanicus was a big deal and this ensured she was not ignored.
When Nero started an affair with Poppaea Sabina, trouble really started. Poppaea was an upper
class woman who could marry Nero if he divorced Octavia. She realised that as long as Agrippina
was alive, there was no way she could get Nero to marry her. At this time, it is also rumoured that

A Brief History of France
Historical Perspective
The history of France can be divided to Gaul and Roman Conquest, the middle ages, modern time
and contemporary era. The oldest traces of human life in what is now France date from
approximately 1.8 million years ago. Between 1500 and 500 B.C. The Guals moved into the
region before it was known as France. Gaul was conquered by Rome in the second century B.C.,
which led to the Gauls adopting the Roman language and culture. France derived its modern name
from Franks a Germanic tribes that overran the country from the east around 5th century. (A Brief
History of France I)
In the 9th century, the Treaty of Verdun divided the Kingdom of Francia to three territories;
Eastern Francia, Middle Francia and Western Francia which was the precursor to modern
France. Before the monarchy was overthrown during the French revolution in 1798, France was
ruled with several noble families and was involved with the hundred years war against England,
Renaissance, reformation and seven years war along with Austria against Prussia and England.
(A Brief History of France.II) About 10 years after the revolution in 1804 Pope Pius VII crowned
Napoleon Bonaparte as emperor of the France. (Table 1) Although he waged several wars and
occupied the most of Europe allied armies conquered Paris and exile Napoleon to the island of
Elba. However, he escaped from the island and tried to get back on power but he defeated at the

How Does Chinua Achebe Depict Ibo Culture In Things Fall...
How does Achebe depict Ibo culture in Things Fall Apart ? Chinua Achebe s, Things Fall Apart, is
a story of a traditional village in Nigeria from inside Umuofia around the late 1800s. This novel
depicts late African history and shows how the British administrative structure, in the form of the
European Anglican Church, imposed its religion and trappings on the cultures of Africa, which they
believed was uncivilized. This missionary zeal subjugated large native populations. Consequently,
the native traditions gradually disappeared and in time the whole local social structure within
which the indigenous people had lived successfully for centuries was destroyed. Achebe spends the

Even though the Ibo are described as primitive and savage by Mr. Smith, one of the missionary
church leaders, the tribesmen evidently show their etiquette through their mannerisms.
Proverbs, a form of Ibo mannerisms, are used quite frequently throughout this novel as the art of
conversation is regarded very highly [by the Ibo], and proverbs are the palm oil with which
words are eaten. (Achebe. P.5:1986) The Ibo people are also not as violent and savage as many
of the missionaries believed. This is shown when a villager from the Mbaino village kills a
woman from the Ibo village, the Ibo village elders and those with titles, instead of initiating war
against the neighbouring Mbaino, reach a peaceful agreement on the reparations from the Mbaino
tribe. ... [A]t the end it was decided to follow the normal course of action. An ultimatum was
immediately dispatched to Mbaino asking them to choose between wars on the one hand, and on
the other the offer of a young man and a virgin as compensation. (P.8) Achebe also expands on the
reflection of the Ibo peoples of being civil, depicting the civilised aspects of the Ibo religion.

The Gutenberg Bible Essay
Created by Johannes Gutenberg, The Gutenberg Bible was the first mass produced book through
the use of a moveable printer. Known for its artistic Latin writing, the Bible only has forty nine
copies remaining, one residing at the Harry Ransom Center at The University of Texas at Austin.
The Gutenberg Bibleexhibits religious qualities from the message, directly from God, and the
original purpose of the creation of the Bible.
A vital component of The Gutenberg Bible is the origin of the divine message in the religious text.
The basis of religion is when someone believes or follows something or someone devotedly.
Therefore in Christianity, anyone who receives and lives by the word of God will be granted eternal

The Gutenberg Bible s purpose was to spread the message of God that can view through the
mass production of the Bible for the first time in history. Due to the moveable printer, the Bible
were more accessible to a larger audience. According to Mark 16:15, And He said to them, Go
into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, the spreading of God s Gospel is a
message told by God for his followers to perform. Therefore, Johannes Gutenberg s actions in
producing the Bible was a sacred act through the following of God s message. By following God s
message, the object that is used, The Gutenberg Bible, is then a religious item used for the religious
act. Because of the newly invented Bible, the common man had an opportunity to have a material
presence of God that wasn t available to them beforehand. For the common man, The Gutenberg
Bible represented the divine, as the book was the words of God and to the common man, God
himself. Furthermore, The Gutenberg Bible s aesthetic qualities are seen through the font of the

Hybrid Vehicle
Abstract: As gas prices raise the average automobile consumer demands a better, more fuel
efficient vehicle. This demand has forced manufacturers to begin producing hybrid vehicle; first
four door hybrid sedan was unveiled by Toyota in 2000. The Toyota Prius success encouraged it
competitors to roll out their hybrid cars as well setting a common standard for environmentally
friendly and efficient vehicles. The relationship of consumer and manufacturer in the car industry
on a macro level has always been one in relative equilibrium. As demand increases the car
manufacturers have increased supply. The green movement in the United States pushed for hybrid
vehicles and car manufacturers responded by producing more vehicles, making the... Show more

This can be seen by the younger age group that has recently begun purchasing hybrid vehicles.
Sales in 2005 of hybrid vehicles only 12.34% were purchased by individuals ages 30 39 and only
9.61% were purchased by individuals ages 20 29; in 2011 12.68% were ages 30 39 and 17.84%
were ages 20 29. (Priuschat.com) The increasing attention the younger population places on
environmentally friendly and less gas consuming vehicles the more likely corporations are
going to spend time and energy devoted towards its research and development. Hybrid cars in
themselves have become more and more fuel efficient from a Prius bought in 2005 which
provided an EPA estimated 37.2 miles per gallon is in 2011 providing 42.7 miles per gallon.
With media attention car manufacturers are increasing what the vehicle can do and making them
more and more efficient. A major factor for individuals who are seeking to purchase a new
vehicle is the cost of gasoline which has risen almost 32% since January 2011. The chart below
indicates the trend of increasing gas prices. As prices increase demand inherently falls creating
room for alternative products to step in. 16% of Prius buyers stated that the primary reason for
buying the Prius was to save money on gas. (inflationdata.com). The fact that a meaningful number
of people can reasonably expect for their hybrid purchase to save them money is perhaps the most
important indicator for future hybrid

Rehoboam ever consulted with the younger men he rejected the advice of the elders.
i. This is a common phenomenon today what some call advice shopping. The idea is that you
keep asking different people for advice until you find someone who will tell you what you want to
hear. This is an unwise and ungodly way to get counsel. It is better to have a few trusted
counselors you will listen to even when they tell you what you don t want to hear.
b. And consulted the young men who had grown up with him: These men were much more likely
to tell Rehoboam what he already thought. By turning to those likely to think just as he did, it
shows that Rehoboam only asked for advice for the sake of appearances
i. Their unwise advice shows the wisdom of seeking counsel from those outside our immediate
situation and context. Sometimes an outsider can see things more clearly than those who share our
same experiences.

Subject:Information about Oil and Natural Gas Extraction Industry
This Report requested by the principal financial investor, Dr. Maria D. Davidson, includes
information required to make an informed decision on whether or not to diversify into the Oil and
Natural Gas Extraction industry. The Oil and Natural Gas Extraction industry is involved in the
processes required to find and extract crude oil and natural gas. The Oil and Natural Gas industry
has performed well in recent years despite economic challenges due to the help of new techniques
and technologies that have allowed the industry to quickly recover after economic setbacks.
What are the Major Components of the Oil and Gas Extraction Industry?
Major Operations that this industry is involved in include the exploration and drilling of crude oil,
and the extraction of natural gasses. Once the oil and gas is extracted, these companies now are
responsible for processing the material to then be sold to industries that then either refine crude oil
or distribute natural gas.
Extraction
Traditionally, large drills are used to extract crude oil from the ground or in offshore deposits. With
these techniques, large amounts of crude oil has been left untouched because it was uneconomical
to attempt to retrieve the oil. But, with new techniques such as hydraulic fracturing and horizontal
drilling, it can now become more efficient for companies to go

The Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass
Revolutionary Freedom In 1845, an African American man named Frederick Douglass released a
thought provoking autobiography that would become a turning point in revolutionary change. The
Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass was the first autobiography Douglass had written
focusing on the real life struggles he has faced during his time spent in bondage. During his time, it
was not common for an African American to have the skills to read and write, and it was especially
uncommon to publish a novel revealing the truth of slavery, while it was still legal at that time.
Provoking revolutionary thought amongst his readers, this narrative will change the world in
ways of equality, speaking for the oppressed, and inducing the philosophical thought of what it
means to truly be free. Douglass believes in equality for all, which is not a typical concept for his
time. In the 1800 s, slavery was legal in the majority of the United States, where whites held all
the power whether it be politically, socially, or economically. Believing that all men were created
equal, Douglass was at a flummox when coming to the realization that he had been born into
slavery, seeing that his freedom has to be worked for, it will not be handed to him as it was to the
white men in his time. Proving to us the difference in the political standing of slaves and white
men, the orator states A representative could not be prouder of his election to a seat in the
American Congress than a slave on one of

Rearing Strategies
When studying parental techniques one will find one large gray area. Although rearing strategies
are not the solely responsible for altered behavior, psychologists know that the way a child is
brought up has a deep and indelible impact on that child s life. During formative years the brain is
exceedingly sensitive to outside stimulus and alteration can occur at the drop of a hat. The mantle
of parenthood is not to be taken lightly as ineffective methodology can contribute significantly to a
child s behavioral outcome. Children often exhibit signs of having incompetent parents by acting
out and misbehaving in a public setting. Whether it be school, church, or any other common
environment, children who have been raised in a negative manner... Show more content on

Sufficient evidence, including findings reported by the state of Michigan s Department of

academic achievement (Mokeyane). In a neglectful environment a child spends a majority of
their time alone making it hard for them to undergo learning experiences and engage their brain
in such a way that triggers thinking and progress. The social aspect can make it difficult for the

Examples Of Seasons In The Great Gatsby
Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring usually seasons would not mean much to a person. In the book
How To Read Literature Like A Professor, the author, Thomas.C Foster, explains how seasons
could be more than just a an indicator of the weather. Seasons of the year could tell many
characteristics of a character. During books the seasons could give an insight on the emotions of a
character, the age, or the time it may be taking place. In Fosters book he gives an example of just
how the seasons of the year could impact a book. Although many people may associate weatheror
holidays with the seasons authors make it very clear that seasons are more than this. In The Great
Gatsby, F.Scott Fitzgerald, the author, also includes the seasons to symbolize these things
throughout his book. First people... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Foster gives an example of a an poem and how the author uses the fall to winter to symbolize his
age. Shakespeare wrote a poem called Sonnet 73. In this poem a man is coming to the
realization of his age. The poem states That time of the year thou mayst in me behold, when
yellow leaves,or none, or few, do hang upon those boughs which shake against the cold: bare,
ruined chords, where late the sweet birds sang. The man is comparing his life to the falling
leaves on the tree. They both were so full of life, but now they are not. The leaves falling are is
symbol of the man s hair falling out. Foster says Shakespeare is really talking about, namely the
speakers standing on the edge of old age. Shakespeare in his

Disadvantages Of Intercultural Communication
1. Introduction
Languages, behaviour patterns and the values cause the differences in all the existing cultures in
the world. People have different ways to communicate with each other and how to react to
information. Especially for the international business, multinational communication is essential.
Understanding the many types of communication, is a subject of importance to act successful as a
global player. Furthermore, there are great benefits through intercultural communication like:
Healthier communities: Regardless the origin, religion or culture, people work together for the same
aim.
Increased commerce: Successful intercultural communication has a high effect on the international
economics. In the year 2012 the U.S. earned $3 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

However, there are following characteristics for Indians: family orientation, honour of both family
and group, material susses and creativity, problem solving, risk takers and experimenters, loyalty
to a group, arranged marriages, do it yourself mentality, fatalism and savy at business. Indians
communication style is high context oriented. Elderly people are always threatened with respect,
talking to them presupposes using formal and respectful forms. Indians use communication to
tighten up their relationships and to preserve harmony but not to exchange information.
Additionally Indians are extrovert, talkative, emotional, unpunctual and they mix professional
and family affairs. On the whole Indians prefer to be a member of a group and acting
collectively. This is a result of the hierarchical system in India. Indians have several rules when it
is allowed for them to speak, e.g. they are allowed to speak, if someone before began to speak
with them, it is inapplicable to show emotions verbal or non verbal in public, they should not ask
direct questions to somebody they do not know well. Furthermore, it is disrespectful to interrupt a
person, they have to wait until the person gives a sign. Actually, it is desired to be silent, if a
person is angry, upset or out of control, until the person settled down. Actually, it is desired to be

non verbal misunderstanding could occur is, that Indians do not use the politeness formula, which
is normal for Europeans, e.g. they do not use greetings, valedictions or expressions of gratitude.

Molotov Ribbentrop Pact
Molotov Ribbentrop Pact
The Molotov Ribbentrop Pact, colloquially named after the Soviet foreign minister Vyacheslav
Molotov and the German foreign minister Joachim von Ribbentrop, was an agreement officially
titled the Treaty of Non Aggression between Germany and the Soviet Union[1] and signed in
Moscow in the late hours of 23 August 1939.[2] It was a non aggression pact under which the
Soviet Union and Nazi Germany each pledged to remain neutral in the event that either nation were
attacked by a third party. It remained in effect until 22 June 1941, when Germany invaded the
Soviet Union.
In addition to stipulations of non aggression, the treaty included a secret protocol dividing Northern

countries occurred from late 1938 to March 1939.[29] The third Soviet Five Year Plan required
massive new infusions of technology and industrial equipment.[27][30]
On 31 March 1939, in response to Nazi Germany s defiance of the Munich Agreement and
occupation of Czechoslovakia,[31] the United Kingdom pledged the support of itself and France to
guarantee the independence of Poland, Belgium, Romania, Greece, and Turkey.[32] On 6 April
Poland and the UK agreed to formalize the guarantee as a military alliance, pending
negotiations.[33] On 28 April, Hitler denounced the 1934 German Polish Non Aggression Pact and
the 1935 Anglo German Naval Agreement.[34]
Starting in mid March 1939, the Soviet Union, Britain and France traded a flurry of suggestions and
counterplans regarding a potential political and military agreement.[35] Although informal
consultations commenced in April, the main negotiations began only in May.[35] At the same time,
throughout the early 1939,Germany and the Soviet Union had discussed a possibility of an
economic deal involving industrial equipment and armament for the USSR in exchange for raw
materials needed for German war production.[36] German war planners had estimated massive raw
materials shortfalls if Germany entered a war without Soviet supply.[37] For months, Germany had
secretly hinted to Soviet diplomats that it could offer better terms for a political agreement than
Britain and France.[38][39][40]

The Basic Concepts Of Ilp
Introduction Instruction level parallelism(or we call it ILP) is a form of parallel operation or
calculation which allows program to perform multiple instructions at one time. Thus it is also a
measurement to describe the amount of instruction per unit time.We will explore the LIP from
an overall view to the several specific methods to exploit it. ILP is a measure of how many of
the instructions in a computer program can be executed simultaneously. When exploiting
instruction level parallelism, goal is to maximize CPI. As for how much ILP exists in programs
is very application specific. In certain fields, like graphics and scientific computing the amount
can be very large while workloads such as cryptography may exhibit much less parallelism.
Micro architectural techniques that are used to exploit ILP include instruction pipelining,
superscalar execution, register renaming, and so on. This paper will first access the basic
concepts of ILP by exploring the ways of handling data, including the controlling data dependence
and data hazards. Then we will talk about ways of how to expose ILP using pipelining and loop
scheduling in compiler(the ways to speed up instruction operation). Additionally, we will discuss
the details of dealing with data hazards by dynamic scheduling (allow execution before control
dependence is solved) by using the examples of Tomasulo s algorithm and explain the different
types of branch prediction(choose which instruction to be executed). Next we will

Research Paper On Blood Doping
Would you manipulate your blood by doping if it could increase your athletic performance? There
are numerous stimulants to increase athletic performance such as caffeine, pre workout
supplements, steroid use but most of these drugs are rudimentary dietary supplements. Your cardiac
output and stroke volume are what you re born with and basically impossible to manipulate to
higher values. However, variables such as bloodvolume and hemoglobin concentration can be
manipulated. One of the most unique methods to increase your athletic performance is blood
doping. Defined by the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA), blood doping is the use of products
that uptake, transport, or delivery of oxygen to the blood. It is truly a bizarre way to manipulate your

it is a fascinating matter of human physiology and science. Despite the adverse side effects, the
pioneering idea of being able to manipulate your cardiac output and blood volume using an
injection of something your body produces or your own actual blood and actually executing it in
this lifetime is truly profound. With further research and technology, I believe we could take the
foundation of blood doping and find a way to regulate our red blood cells for life. This would give
athletes an untraceable edge for all endurance

Analysis Of Flint And The Nation s Aging Pipeline...
Flint s and The Nation s Aging Pipeline Infrastructure
In the wake of Flint s water crisis it was realized that their aging pipeline infrastructure needed an
extreme update. Flint is not the only CIKR catastrophe caused by being too tightly coupled, almost
every community around the country has experienced some type of catastrophic infrastructure
failure that has led to a large scale service interruptions, significant property damage, and human
injury as a result of being tightly coupled (Van Leuven, 2011, pp.40). A lot of the nation s aging
pipeline infrastructure is still in need of renovations or replacement because it has exceeded its
planned operating life (Van Leuven, 2011, pp.40).
Matthew Dolan of the Detroit Free Press stated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The city officials were not very competent on the WWS. They believed that they could just save
money by switch over a few things without fully investing the time in actually understanding how
the WWS operates. Over a dozen lawsuits have been filed in local, state and Federal courts
involving Flint residents who were directly impacted by the lead contaminated waters. The
plaintiffs seek monetary compensations in the millions. One victim sought $100 million because
they obtained Legionnaires disease, which they believed that they received from the contaminated
water (Dixon, 2016). Others are suing an engineering company that was involved with the switching
process of the water from the Detroit water system to the Flint River. It is believed that the
engineering company knew that the water was dangerous without proper anti corroding agent
(Dixon, 2016). The remaining lawsuits seek everything else, which range from replacing the leaded
pipeline infrastructure, medical and health compensation due to contamination, and also water bills
(Dixon, 2016). The defendants ranged from state, local, and government officials including the
Governor Rick Snyder.
How to address the problem The first thing that needs to be done is to hire competent state officials
and emergency managers. The governor did not know the first thing about water nor did the people
around him know as well. Catastrophic failures often have resulted when central

Communication Competence In A Group
Communication competence is the first thing every new group member should understand
before beginning a group project. Communication competence is considered very broadly as an
impression that behavior is appropriate and effective in a given context (Spitzberg, 2000). This
includes being effective by having a wide range of behaviors and being in the we , not me
mentality, being appropriate by complying with the group rules, have the knowledge to learn the
rules and know how to be a proper asset in your group, having empathy or being sensitive
towards your group members, staying committed to your group, and lastly being ethical. Our
groups communication was very competent. When it came to group decision making, there
was no hint of individuality, none of the members had a me mentality, but instead we all as a
group put what we wanted aside to agree on a board game that would be the most appropriate for
the assignment. For example, I wanted to play poker instead of monopoly but due to the fact that
I was the only one in our group that knew how to play poker I quickly agreed with monopoly.
Furthermore, all the group members showed commitment, and ethics. Many of us had a busy
week schedule to include work and other classes so when we were able to settle on a time and date
for a meetingeveryone stayed committed to the schedule and arrived on time. While we had these
group meetings and game nights everyone in the group was respectful towards each other by not
making any rude remarks or aggressiveness when there was disagreement and being responsible by
not attempting to cheat to win
Group Climate is defined by Rothwell as the emotional atmosphere, the enveloping tone that is
created by the way we communicate in groups (105). Group s can have either positive or negative
climates. Our group displayed a positive climate. We treated each other well and fairly, we were all
flexible with our busy schedules in order to have group meetings and whenever someone had a last
minute work shift change interfering with out meeting we quickly reorganized without any harsh
feelings. Furthermore, our group showed a lot of supportive communication and almost no
defensive communication. We did not need to make any positive or

Similarities Between Edwards And John Winthrop
Sinners in the Hands of the Same God
John Edwards and John Winthrop were two Puritan writers who tried to take on the new world,
with only the rudimentary tools of the unfinished society from which they came. While both
authors are renowned for their sermons during this time, Edwards is known for his drastic and
dramatic, Sinners in the Hands of An Angry God , and Winthrop for his vision of society in, A
Modell of Christian Charity . Edwards appeals to all sinners in his sermon, where he warns them
that God will be the judge of their actions, and that their consequences may be severe. While
Winthrop on the other hand, carefully laid out the religious and social principles that would be the
Puritan foundation of their beliefs, stemming from his understanding of the Holy Bible. In Edwards,
Sinners in the Hands of An Angry God and Winthrop s, A Modell of Christian Charity , we see that
both writers had similar beliefs that stemmed from their Puritan background, yet their
interpretations of the bible differed in the way that they expressed these ideologies to the public.
When comparing the two writers, one should note that both Edwards and Winthrop have numerous
traits in common with many of the Puritan writers of this time, as they understood that God was a
deity, promoting people to live honest and moral lives. These two men came from similar walks of
life, as they were both male, highly educated, wealthy, acclimating from desirable religious, and
societal backgrounds,

Knowledge Management Within An Organization
Knowledge management within an organization is affected by the political practices, the methods
of resolving conflict, and the assignment of responsibility for outcomes. Buchanan (2008) stated in
relation to a study, Political tactics mentioned most frequently were blaming others, selective
information, creating a favorable image, developing support, ingratiation, creating obligations,
rewards, coercion and threats, associating with influential individuals, and forming powerful
coalitions (p. 52). Consequently, within the challenges of an organization Hislop (2013) explained
that there is a relationship between authority and information which contribute to divergence and
politics. In our school organization there is consistent conflict between central office, school
leaders, and faculty members in regards to political processes, the resolving process of issues, and
accountability practices. The core issue of our school s challenges in regards to how the mentioned
factors is the managementof information by school leaders as directives are sent from central office
school district officials that in some manner affect teacher s ability to perform in the classroom. Our
school is known to voluntarily be assigned by central office executives to participate in testing state
initiatives without considering teacher input and the amount of content that teacher s must cover
according to their assigned curriculum timeline. The directives sent by central office seem to have

Reflection Of The Piano
For this concert report, I am going to be focusing on the last piece of the concert, Beethoven s
Symphony no. 5 in C Minor, op. 67. This piece was written in the classical period. I am choosing
this piece to focus on because when I heard it, I felt that I was being told a story of a war and
specifically of a single soldier and his experience. Beethoven s Symphony no. 5 in C Minor, op. 67
has 4 movements throughout the piece. The first movement is Allegro con brio, the second
Andante con moto, and the third and fourth are both Allegro. The first movement, Allegro con Brio,
starts the story off in a battle focusing on a single soldier and his fight. The tempowas quite fast
throughout the movement making the idea of a battle taking place set in. The program has
already stated that the piece was in C Minor, but you can tell that it is by the sense of conflict and
pain that is heard throughout the piece. This first movement has a great variation of dynamics as
well. There are long sections of fortissimo that, to me, sound like the intense fighting, and then
there are sections of piano and mezzo piano that, to me, sound like lulls in the scene where the
soldier notices something very sad right before he is whisked back into the fight. This sense of a
fight scene is also noted with the technical styling of the movement. During the intense fights the
melody is staccato and accented, and during the points that the soldier can take a breath and look
around at the horror unfolding

Those are the issues that many adopting parents and birth right mothers are facing today. Many
biological mothers want their child back. There are many concerns for adopting parents to know
that there is the possibly that the birth mother may file for the child. As a birth mother or the

Most of the time adopting parents can handle the task but some times it backfires when the

Statistics show that the vast majority of independent adoptions in California are completed without

Being A Waste Of Your Time
No relationship is ever a waste of your time. If it didn t bring what you want, it taught you what
you don t want. There are certain people out there who contribute and mold our personality to
construct who we are. We tend to form relationships with those people, and to fit in we tend to
want to be like them. What, of This Goldfish, Would You Wish , A Visit to Grandmother s , and
our two personal experiences support the very idea that relationships with others define who we are
and how we behave as individuals.
What, of This Goldfish, Would You Wish , is set in the eyes of Sergei Goralick. Based on the
story, you can infer that Sergei is an introvert, he s caring, and most of all he s protective of
himself. His personality tends to get in the way of how he treats others, however he can be seen
as a caring man with a warm heart as well. Sergei Goralick doesn t much like strangers banging
on his door. Especially when those strangers are asking him questions. In the story, he talks about
how when he was younger and lived in Russia with his parents, he detested the people who would
come knocking at his door all the time. Other than that minor flaw of his, you can see that Sergei
is a sweet and selfless person. For his second wish he wished for Sveta s boy to get better from a
brain tumor doctors had found but a few months later she ended up leaving him. In his heart,
Sergei kept telling himself it wasn t for Sveta that he d done it, that he d wished that wish purely

George Herbert Mead And Symbolic Interactionism
George Herbert Mead, an early social constructionist, formed symbolic interactionism. Mead
believed that our thoughts, self concept, and the wider community we live in are created through
communication. Symbolic interactionism is what separates humans from the rest of the other
animals. Mead was a philosophy professor at the University of Chicago, Mead thought the true
test of any theory is whether it is useful in solving complex social problems. If it doesn t work in
practice, forget it. Mead taught philosophy but was well known by sociologists as the professor
who trained a generation of the best minds in their field. Mead never put his ideas in a book before

Blumers third premise is that these meanings are handled in, and modified through, an
interpretative process used by the person in dealing with the things encounters. Integrationist s
describe thinking as an inner conversation. Mead called this inner dialogue minding. Minding is the
two second delay while we mentally rehearse our next move, anticipate others reactions. We
naturally talk to ourselves in order to sort out the meaning of a difficult situation. Mead believed
that animals act instinctively and without deliberation. Integrationist s believe that humans require
social stimulation and exposure to abstract symbol systems to embark upon conceptual thought
processes that characterize our species. Without the symbolic interaction that learning a language
requires, we wouldn t be able to think though our responses, we d only react. Symbolic
interaction, whether verbal or nonverbal, activates our cognitive ability for inner dialogue that,
once switched on, won t shut down.( Em Griffin/Andrew Ledbetter/Glenn Sparks pg.57) For
example as kids we play roles, whether it s like our parents or someone imaginary. As an adult we
still put ourselves in the place of others and act as they would act. Mead was convinced that
thinking is the mental conversation we hold with others, always with an eye toward how they
might see us and react to what we might do.
The symbolic interactionism approach is interpretive; the linguistic work of assigning meaning or
value to communicative texts, believes that multiple truths are possible. ( Em Griffin/Andrew
Ledbetter/Glenn Sparks pg.15) The tradition is socio cultural tradition, it s based on the premise
that as people talk, they produce and reproduce culture. ( Em Griffin/Andrew Ledbetter/Glenn

Principle Of Mission Command Timofte, 2 THE PRINCIPLES OF MISSION COMMAND APPLIED BY MARSHAL GEORGY ZHUKOV DURING THE BATTLE OF KURSK 1943 AVIATION CAPTAINS CAREER COURSE FORT RUCKER, ALABAMA CLASS 13 004, TEAM 1 1st LT. SERBAN TIMOFTE (ROU) 10 OCTOBER 2013 Defining mission command Mission command is the exercise of authority and direction by the commander using mission orders to enable disciplined initiative within the commander s intent to empower agile and adaptive leaders in the conduct of unified land operations[footnoteRef:1]. The commander is the central figure of exercising mission command; he must be able to blend the science of control with the art of command as to integrate the warfighting functions in order to accomplish the mission. During the exercise of mission command, the commander understands the problem, predicts the end state, visualizes the nature and design of the operation, describes time, space, resources and purpose, directs the warfighting functions and constantly assesses the process. He must clearly understand the Higher Command s intent and clearly transmit his orders to his subordinates. His subordinates pay essential role as mission command system begins with people. Commanders base their mission command system on human characteristics more than on equipment and procedures. Trained personnel are essential to an effective mission command system[footnoteRef:2]. • 4. Critical Aspects Of The Education System One of the most critical aspects of the education system is the assessment of pupils learning. Biggs Tang (2011) determine that assessment is the senior partner in the instructional process. Get it wrong, and everything else collapses (page 195 7). Assessment is one of the most important aspects of teaching and learning, it ensures that student learning is checked and conclusions are made, to put it simply, assessment shows how well pupils have learned what they were supposed to, and it is the only feasible way to check if learning outcomes have been achieved or not. Throughout this essay I will be evaluating the purpose of assessment and how it effects pupils in our schools, I will be addressing the impact of pressure on performance,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1998, under Margaret Thatcher s government, the Education Reform Act was put into place. This brought into play compulsory tests for our 7, 11 and 14 year olds. In Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland however, SATs for 7 year olds have been abolished, the government has realised children at 7 were much too young to be put under the pressure of tests. When children reach 11 they sit their year 6 SAT s and these results are used in league tables to compare schools. These results can be very negative for the schools, teachers, and pupils involved. Again this is very different in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland where the year 6 Sat s league tables have been abolished. Why is it that England is so out of kilter with the rest of the United Kingdom? In 2003, the QCA asked primary school teachers how long they spent on average each week preparing children for their year 6 sat s. Shockingly they found that 10 hours a week was spent preparing children for the end of year SATs and between Christmas and May, schools spend nearly 50% of their teaching time coaching children. This leaves very little time to teach anything other than the topics needed to pass the tests. Pupils become very demotivated and stressed with the pressure of failure. This was shown quite movingly when the BBC Panorama team interviewed a year 6 student, the 11 year old told interviewers: I m really scared about my SATs, the head teacher came and talked to us about our ... • 5. Accounting Systems And The Operation Of A Business Accounting systems are important to the operation of a business. They system helps organize a lot of information that helps owners make necessary decisions regarding their companies. It also helps keep up with purchases and sales and other things such as stocks. The system helps make sure that a business can afford certain items. Keeping good records is a mandatory requirement of a successful business. If the records are off by a lot, or even a little, it can change the whole look of the business in regard to taxes, investors, and many other important aspects of business. Another important aspect of business that owners must understand is what assets and liabilities are, and also the stockholders equity. These are all shown in detail on the balance sheetwhich is discussed in the next paragraph. An asset in its simplest form is a resource owned by a business. This could be anything from cash and equipment, to patents and trademarks. Liabilities are debts or other payments that the company owes. These can range from notes and bonds payable to deferred taxes and accrued liabilities from the past. The last thing an owner must understand is the stockholders equity. This is the claim that the owner has to the assets. These are all related and shown in detail on a balance sheet. As the name implies, the assets must equal the liabilities plus the stockholders equity. These three things are used to determine many things including assets to debt ratio which can help determine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Occupational Therapy Model Theories, models of practice, assessments and intervention are what shape occupational therapy as a practice and how practitioners look at their clients and design the interventions they use. A theory is an overarching description of a set of circumstances and their relationship with each other (Fisher 2008). Fisher also describes models of practice and the way they help to organize one s views and assess the things about a person or their environment that support or limit their performance. An assessment and intervention is practical guidance of what specifically is being addressed, how to look for those deficits and how to go about working with them. Whilst a practitioner will probably use only one model when working with a client, they will... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Canadian Model of Occupational Performance and Engagement divide occupation in to self care, leisure and productivity and emphasize the link which exists between occupational performance and health. This model focusses on the affective (physical) and cognitive components of the person whose self care, productivity and leisure occupations occur in the physical, social and cultural environment while adding a fourth, the institutional environment comprising legal, political and economic aspects. The emphasis is on the person, their occupation and environment, the dynamic relationship between these three subsystems is occupational performance. (Duncan 2012) The Canadian Model of Occupational Performance and Engagement takes occupation beyond performance as it considers the importance of engagement and inclusion, which can be prevalent in a person who has had a stroke, due to the person being physically unable to partake in occupations they previously did or feeling the negative impact of the stroke on their sense of self. • 7. Personal Statement For The Support Group Introduction For the support group that I led we planned on having it be focused around testimonies. I wanted for us each to be able to get to know one another on a deeper level than we had, specifically spiritually. I thought that doing five minute testimonies was a good way to be able to get to know one another better while still not making everyone divulge all of their life to people they are still getting to know and learning to trust. With the testimonies theme, I wanted my icebreaker to lead into the importance of listening to our client s stories and using our story as a platform for Christ. For my ending activity I wanted to lead into next support groups topic which we had decided would be about our current walk with the Lord. Group goals At our first support group we decided that our goals would stay the same each week. Our primary goal was to practice group facilitation and group participation. Our sub goals were to support one another and get to know one another. We began our first support group with not really supporting one another because there was no need for it; however, the second support group we supported one another as we shared about our families. The third support group also got deeper in supporting one another as we talked about our high school experiences. The fourth group I felt that we did not exercise the sub goal to support one another because it was more educational than supportive. I was nervous going after we talked about stress because it ... • 8. There Will Come Soft Rain Technology Essay In today s growing society, technology has brought many reforms to the way we operate on a daily basis. Most tend to consider the positive effects of technology, and how much it has benefited us both socially and in the workplace. However, there is a form of duality that comes with these developments; Despite the seemingly positive outcomes associated with the benefits of technology, there is also a lack of responsibilityon our part that results. Hence, over time it has been increasingly difficult to draw the line between what is reasonable and what it simply too much when it comes to using technology. One of the many magnificent features of the house is the automated kitchen. This kitchen pampered the family by preparing each meal, washing the dishes, and serving them all at the dinner table, all responsibilities you would expect of a typical household. Early in the text, Bradbury comprehensively describes the kitchen s seemingly perfect nature, In the kitchen the breakfast stove gave a hissing sigh and ejected from its warm interior eight pieces of perfectly browned toast, eggs sunnyside up, sixteen slices of bacon, two coffees, and two cold glasses of milk (There Will Come Soft Rains 1). The precision and accuracy of the breakfast prepared was impeccable: the milk cold, eggs and toast prepared to perfection, and exactly sixteen slices of bacon to feed a family. With such an ideal, why would anyone need or want to cook breakfast, when their effort could easily be replaced? Instead of relying on themselves, one would instead choose to rely on this automated kitchen. The more someone ceases to rely on themselves, the less responsible they ultimately become. Therefore, Bradbury s brief, yet powerful, use of imagery supports the idea that it in such a technologically advanced environment, taking on basic responsibilities is ... The issue of infertility can be heart wrenching specifically for couples who have wanted to have children all their lives. In the Holy Bible , we read several stories about temporary infertility . God promised Abraham and Sarah a child, but she did not bear a son, Isaac, until age 90 (Genesis 11:30). Isaac, Rebekah s husband, prayed fervently, and God answered, resulting in the births of Jacob and Esau (Genesis 25:21). Rachel prayed, and at long last God opened her womb. She bore two sons, Joseph and Benjamin (Genesis 30:1; 35:18). Manoah s wife, who was infertile for a time, gave birth to Samson (Judges 13:2). Elizabeth in her old age gave birth to John the ... • 11. Integrity In Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre To contain a life, or even some fraction of it, in a single book is certainly a tall order among tall orders. But Jane Erye is so thoroughly and immersively suffused with the minutest realities of adolescence and early adulthood that I can t help but see every life in it. The eponymous heroine s story is mine, yours, his, hers, theirs, anyone s, everyone s. Analyzing the novel via Virginia Woolf s literary catechism, however, yields something of an oddity. For all its banal but tangible plausibility, which was so many pages and episodes and humanities in the making, BrontГ« s novel does not accord with the ideals Woolf crusades for, namely concepts that the latter refers to as integrity and incandescence. Who s afraid of Virginia Woolf? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Near the book s end, the titular character has had her much vaunted wedding to Edward Rochester spoiled by the news that he in fact already has a wife: the frothing, feral Bertha Mason. This news, coupled with the Georgian/Victorian taboo against bigamy, and the revelation that Rochester has been deliberately hiding the mentally ill Bertha from Jane (and in the same house, no less) the entire time, sees Jane leave Thornfield to essentially wander England, aimless and alone. Eventually, she reaches a crossroads both literally and metaphorically called Whitcross, which leads her to a seemingly random village, wherein she s (semi miraculously) reunited with three cousins she never knew she had: St. John, Diana, and Mary Rivers. This discovery is especially important to Jane, considering that she s almost never had anyone she could sincerely call family, let alone love and endear as such. One personal tragedy (i.e. regarding Rochester), it seems, is met with an equally happy turn of chance lose a lover, gain a family. Instead, they want their students to possess the positive qualities that they would approve of and would advocate. Many parents believe that To get good at anything you have to work (Chua 52). Even though the child s mentality may not be focused in this manner, it needs to become this way by the influencing of the well intentioned parents. An ambitious quality that parent figures want is for their children to practice, practice, practice (Chua 52) no matter how they feel or want to give up. The parents mold virtuous qualities like the willingness to do things over and over (Chua 55) into their child so that he or she can become good at school. Within the novelThe Scarlet Letter, flowers, the land on which the cabin lies, clothing and their colors, the woods, and the comet are used to further explain situations in which characters find themselves in. The test states, It had been built by an earlier settler, and abandoned, because the soil about it was too sterile for cultivation, (Hawthorne 121). This quotation proves that the land was deemed infertile and no one believed that anything could be grown. However, Hester manages to grow a few small plants. Even from a few plants, she still managed to grow something from what was given to her. This same idea is repeated throughout her life. After, having Pearl, she was an outcast, yet she still was able to make herself into a well known talented embroideress. She was also still able to support herself and Pearl even though she was given nothing but shame. This proves that Hester is not what the Puritanical society sees her as. She is more than they think she is because, just as the infertile land, she was able to make something from nothing. Hester and Pearl s clothing and color of the clothing also reveals their true position in society. Their strict society wears quite basic clothing which has only begun to be adorned with Hester s embroidery. Right from the beginning, Hester shows that she is defiant, no matter the circumstances which she is under. An example of this would be a sports team or organization. Players of these specific teams all work together to achieve a common goal; to win. These players have a coach that is a powerful leader and that individual makes them strive to be the best players they can be. Moreover, it is important for each player to have trust in each other and to form bonds. They do this through communication. This is an important trait for them because if the players do not trust their own teammates, there will be no unity. I myself can vouch for these statements because I was once a part of many teams for multiple years. I was a part of sports teams throughout my entire adolescence leading all the way to high school. When I had experiences with my club teams, I came to realize just how important common connections and goals were for a team to be prosperous and successful. When a team establishes trust and friendships, they can truly work together as a whole. Often times the teams I was a part of lacked in this area of bonding. Naturally proteins are complex in nature performing numerous functions that sustain life. Besides other polymers for instance nucleic acids, polysaccharides, or lipid assembles, proteins account for almost over 50% of the total dry weight of cells, They occupy the largest percentage in living cells both quantity and quality . Proteins are involved in all biological processes, for instance enzymes(specific proteins), catalyze all chemical reactions that occur in all life forms, they also transport and store wide range of ions and small molecules as well as electrons. They play a role in the regulation of the expression of genetic information and their transcription of translation level in connection with the control of growth and differentiation of cells; they also among other important functions provide the mechanical support and filamentation architecture within and between cells consequently important to cellular contraction and coordination of motion (alan.j.cozzone, n.d). Post Secondary Education For The United States Post secondary education in the United States is often viewed as a necessary step towards financial security mostly for those who take part in it. The introduction of the GI Bill in the year 1944 labeled the post secondary education as a larger part of the American dream because it acted as a ticket towards economic security. Today, approximately 20 million students in the United States are in pursuit of a bachelor s degree, masters, or any other type of higher level educationsuch as certifications and specialized courses (Friss, 2012). This elevated number of students interested in becoming educated denotes that the cost of advanced education has and will simultaneously continue to increase. Therefore, this fact has its pros and cons depending on the career of choice and especially depending on how much one receives in return once entered the workforce. Students in America pursue post secondary education for a diversity of motives. Most do it for economic stability and consequently tend to develop a profession for the sake of earning an income as their primary goal. Comfortable living accompanies such motive, action which leads individuals to wish to obtain a substantial life where they may enjoy financial freedom. • 35. The Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass Revolutionary Freedom In 1845, an African American man named Frederick Douglass released a thought provoking autobiography that would become a turning point in revolutionary change. The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass was the first autobiography Douglass had written focusing on the real life struggles he has faced during his time spent in bondage. During his time, it was not common for an African American to have the skills to read and write, and it was especially uncommon to publish a novel revealing the truth of slavery, while it was still legal at that time. Provoking revolutionary thought amongst his readers, this narrative will change the world in ways of equality, speaking for the oppressed, and inducing the philosophical thought of what it means to truly be free. Douglass believes in equality for all, which is not a typical concept for his time. In the 1800 s, slavery was legal in the majority of the United States, where whites held all the power whether it be politically, socially, or economically. Believing that all men were created equal, Douglass was at a flummox when coming to the realization that he had been born into slavery, seeing that his freedom has to be worked for, it will not be handed to him as it was to the white men in his time. Proving to us the difference in the political standing of slaves and white men, the orator states A representative could not be prouder of his election to a seat in the American Congress than a slave on one of ... I had never left the breezy state of Ohio, but here I was, packed up and getting ready to board a flight to the beautiful Hatteras Island. Hatteras was far, much farther away than I had ever been from my home. I slept most of the plane ride in fear that I would be sick in front of everyone. Crammed in between a large man who decided both armrest were his and a small elderly women who spent the entire flight flipping through a book of pictures, I let my head lazily hang to one side and drifted off into the darkness of my sleep. I was awoken by the same large man hacking up what seemed to be his lung, pancreas, spine, and PhD into my face. I looked across the frail old lady out the window and took in my current surroundings. Everything hit me at once, the beauty of the earth around me suddenly became less blurry as I watched out my circular airplane window down at the sandy beaches of Hatteras. I got off the flight, went into the air conditioned beach house, and unpacked my suitcase. The white sand of the beaches warmed the soles of my feet as I stepped onto the dune down into the slack. The glow of the now fading orange sun warmed my face, while the unfamiliar smell of saltwater tickled my nose. I was on the beach for the first time and I was beyond anxious. Although rearing strategies are not the solely responsible for altered behavior, psychologists know that the way a child is brought up has a deep and indelible impact on that child s life. The mantle of parenthood is not to be taken lightly as ineffective methodology can contribute significantly to a child s behavioral outcome. The Basic Concepts Of Ilp Introduction Instruction level parallelism(or we call it ILP) is a form of parallel operation or calculation which allows program to perform multiple instructions at one time. Thus it is also a measurement to describe the amount of instruction per unit time.We will explore the LIP from an overall view to the several specific methods to exploit it. ILP is a measure of how many of the instructions in a computer program can be executed simultaneously. When exploiting instruction level parallelism, goal is to maximize CPI. As for how much ILP exists in programs is very application specific. In certain fields, like graphics and scientific computing the amount can be very large while workloads such as cryptography may exhibit much less parallelism. Micro architectural techniques that are used to exploit ILP include instruction pipelining, superscalar execution, register renaming, and so on. This paper will first access the basic concepts of ILP by exploring the ways of handling data, including the controlling data dependence and data hazards. Then we will talk about ways of how to expose ILP using pipelining and loop scheduling in compiler(the ways to speed up instruction operation). Additionally, we will discuss the details of dealing with data hazards by dynamic scheduling (allow execution before control dependence is solved) by using the examples of Tomasulo s algorithm and explain the different types of branch prediction(choose which instruction to be executed). Communication competence is considered very broadly as an impression that behavior is appropriate and effective in a given context (Spitzberg, 2000). This includes being effective by having a wide range of behaviors and being in the we , not me mentality, being appropriate by complying with the group rules, have the knowledge to learn the rules and know how to be a proper asset in your group, having empathy or being sensitive towards your group members, staying committed to your group, and lastly being ethical. Our groups communication was very competent. When it came to group decision making, there was no hint of individuality, none of the members had a me mentality, but instead we all as a group put what we wanted aside to agree on a board game that would be the most appropriate for the assignment. For example, I wanted to play poker instead of monopoly but due to the fact that I was the only one in our group that knew how to play poker I quickly agreed with monopoly. Furthermore, all the group members showed commitment, and ethics. Many of us had a busy week schedule to include work and other classes so when we were able to settle on a time and date for a meetingeveryone stayed committed to the schedule and arrived on time. While we had these group meetings and game nights everyone in the group was respectful towards each other by not making any rude remarks or aggressiveness when there was disagreement and being responsible by not attempting to cheat to win Group Climate is defined by Rothwell as the emotional atmosphere, the enveloping tone that is created by the way we communicate in groups (105). This piece was written in the classical period. I am choosing this piece to focus on because when I heard it, I felt that I was being told a story of a war and specifically of a single soldier and his experience. Beethoven s Symphony no. 5 in C Minor, op. 67 has 4 movements throughout the piece. The first movement is Allegro con brio, the second Andante con moto, and the third and fourth are both Allegro. The first movement, Allegro con Brio, starts the story off in a battle focusing on a single soldier and his fight. The tempowas quite fast throughout the movement making the idea of a battle taking place set in. The program has already stated that the piece was in C Minor, but you can tell that it is by the sense of conflict and pain that is heard throughout the piece. This first movement has a great variation of dynamics as well. There are long sections of fortissimo that, to me, sound like the intense fighting, and then there are sections of piano and mezzo piano that, to me, sound like lulls in the scene where the soldier notices something very sad right before he is whisked back into the fight.
