Achievements Of The Ancient Incas
The Ancient Incas
The Incas were a fascinating civilization of American Indian people who lived in the Andes region in
Peru during the 12th century A.D. They gradually developed the greatest political achievements and
the largest empire in pre Columbian America, known as the Incan Empire. (Wikimedia Foundation)
The empire centered around the city of Cuzco in the Peruvian Andes, and the mighty empire included
the coastal and mountain regions of Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and the northern areas of Chile and
Argentina. (Hagen, Von) The massive kingdom also consisted of 12 million inhabitants from more
than 100 different ethnic groups at its peak. (History.com) This just showed how well the Incas had

For the Incas, many sacrifices were given to the Sun God, Inti, who was most important. These gifts
included animals, plants, and material treasure, but also human life. Inca peoples did not sacrifice
adults, but children, probably because they believed that adults did not possess the unique quality and
purity of children. Child sacrifice was called capacocha. The process of capacocha could begin years
before the selected person was killed. The Incan state held annual rituals where they sacrificed
children to the gods in order to promote a healthy harvest and the working of the sun. Children were
sometimes brought to ceremonies from their homes, then returned to be killed. Several theories exist
explaining Incan motives for capacocha. One states that the Incans practiced this sacrifice in order to
ensure a plentiful harvest, rain, and protection for the people. Another focuses on the idea that the
children of local leaders were chosen because their parents would thus strengthen ties to the emperor.
A third perspective is based on sacrifice as response to vital occurrences such as eclipses and deaths of
emperors. The child, selected to perfection, may need to escort the emperor to the

INTRODUCTION
The natural disasters such as landslide, earthquake, volcano eruption, wildfire, tsunami are disasters
that happens in earth s system which is hydrosphere, atmosphere, lithosphere and biosphere (Van
Wesper, C.J., 2000). As Malaysia lies outside the Pacific Ring of Fire it is excluded from volcano
eruption and earthquakes. The most dominant disaster in Malaysia is the landslide occurs during rainy
seasons.
This disaster can disrupt the stable ecological system and cause destruction of properties and also kill
lives. This growing economic impact has drawn worldwide attention to study about the landslide.
Nowadays the developments are taking place in high altitude areas at a fast pace. As it possesses
impressive view and a great ventilation many housing projects and vegetation projects are built in
hillside area. Hence it is vital to carry out proper mitigations and slope managements to prevent
landslides in the area undergoing development projects.
The prevent landslides from occurring, the area seems to prone towards landslides should be identified
before any development projects carried out. The task should be done by certified experts like
engineers and geologist to examine the area by studying the stability of the soil

Invicta Soil Patterns
Introduction
The accidental introduction of the red imported fire ant Solenopsis invicta Buren (Hymenoptera:
Formicidae: Myrmicinae) to Alabama between 1933 and 1945 led to the eventual invasion of all of the
southeastern US. Once established, the species quickly developed a reputation for both its sting and its
ability to rapidly invade new habitats. As S. invicta expanded its range out of urban centers and into
various other habitats, concerns arose about the ability of the species to invade pristine systems and
displace native ant species. Yet, research has found that S. invicta is less of a superior competitor and
more of an opportunistic, disturbance specialist. For example, a study in southeast Texas by LeBrun et
al. (2012) compared the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
invicta (Stiles and Jones 1998, Forys et al. 2002). In the Florida Keys in the late 80 s, the density of S.
invicta was relatively low, as invasion had not yet occurred on every island (Porter 1992). By 2002 a
study by Forys et al. found high densities primarily concentrated along roadways and in edge habitats
in every Key. Furthermore, undisturbed sites were more likely to be occupied if they were within 50m
of a road and within 150m of high densities of urban development. This indicates that the conditions
within these sites of localized disturbance allow for persistence and eventual dispersal into
undisturbed sites (Forys et al.

Creatine Use Must be Banned Essay
Athletes are always searching for ways to enhance their performance. Recently, beginning in the
1950s, that search has included the use of illegal substances like steroids and growth hormones. Illegal
substances have been used widely by athletes in hop es of achieving the desired Olympic gold medal
or multi million dollar contract. Some nations, for example the late East Germany in the 1970s and
1980s, have mandated the use of steroids by their athletes. The downside of using those illegal
substances is that because they are illegal, getting caught using them can lead to losing that coveted
gold medal, a lifetime ban from sports, and a total loss of honor and dignity. This is why the search is

The transformation of creatine into energy occurs within the first few seconds of exertion. Creatine
supplements are artificially made creatine that can be taken by athletes as ergogens, substances that
can be used by athletes to enhance performance. Artificially made creatine is available as powder,
capsules, candy, and gum. The goal of creatine supplementation is to increase the energy in the
muscles so that athletes can improve their strength, speed, and endurance.
Although creatine is fairly expensive (fifty dollars for a one month supply), the original results of
creatine testing and usage were very positive. Creatine supplementation helps the body by increasing
the amount of creatine in the muscles, thus enabli ng the body to put out more energy more quickly. It
was first discovered in the early 1900s, before creatine supplements were available, that increasing
dietary creatine in turn increases the amount of creatine in the muscles (Jenkins). Supplementation of
creatine in the diet leads to even higher levels of muscular creatine. Research has confirmed this.
Current data indicate that muscle creatine levels increase, on average, 20% after six days of creatine
supplementation at twenty grams per day (Eichne r 76). This increase of creatine in the muscles in turn
increases the body s potential for exertion. Once creatine supplements were tested in humans, those
increases were

Chris Argyris Theory Of Personality And The Organization
Talent management grew to be recognized in the 90s, but can be traced to the 1950s and 1960s in the
form of three management theories namely: Chris Argyris theory of personality and the organization;
Frederick Herzberg s two factor theory; as well as David McClelland s concept of achievement and
orientation theory.
i) Chris Argyris theory of Personality and organization: argues that corporate role expectations had
become stifle. The consistent development of individuals implied increasing responsibility and
emphasis on job space as well as five horizons but jobs limited responsibility were over specialized
and reduced below time expectations. Authoritative managements alienated employees within the
workplace. Most employees lost interest in their jobs and most had high levels of turnover intentions
with hopes of greener pastures in self employment, change of jobs into other professions or moving up

Online shopping has been a growing phenomenon all over the world especially among countries with
well developed infrastructure with marketing activities over the Internet (Kau, Tang amp; Ghose, 2003
). Hawkins, Best amp; Coney (2001:592) are of the opinion that Internet sales will increase rapidly in
years to come.
Today we live in an age where the Internet has become an important medium for people in their daily
lives. The Internet is an effective and efficient way to communicate with people, to manage banking
transactions and to purchase goods and services. While the old way of going to a shop to get the feel
and touch of a product before purchasing it is still nice, for certain services like booking airline or
concert tickets have made the process much easier and efficient.
Although predictions have been made on the future of online shopping and the increased growth in
sales, the question arises as to why don t more South African businesses utilise this market? This
question can go hand in hand with another question: Why do consumers in South Africa still prefer
shopping at a shopping mall as opposed to the convenient way of shopping online?
In order for South African businesses to retail their respective products or services online, there needs
to be a profitable market of users for the respective businesses to

Mamie Clark Essay
Mamie Phipps Clark was born on April 18, 1917 in Hot Spring, Arkansas. Mrs. Clark was brought up

physician and was more than able to support his family of four rather easily. Her mother Katy

had explained that being an African American in the early 1930 s and living in the South was far from

explore the interests she had in children s development: I d always had an interest in children. Always,
from the time I was very small. I d always thought I wanted to work with children, and psychology
seemed a good field. In 1934, Mamie Clark graduated magna cum laude from Howard University,
Mamie then immediately enrolled in the psychology graduate program. In 1939 Mamie was studying
African American children that were in segregated nursery schools as a topic for her project. Her
master s thesis was, The Development of Consciousness of Self in Negro Pre School Children, and
that started the beginning of a line of research that later became historic when it was used to help
make racial segregation unconstitutional in American public schools. Her thesis concluded that the
children became aware of their blackness early on in their childhood. She used pictures of both white
and black boys with numerous animals and a clown. She concluded that the children did not self
identify with the different images, and it was this conclusion that later became the foundation

Modern Techniques Of Mrs Dalloway
Virginia Woolf started writing Mrs. Dalloway in June 1922 and she completed the novel by October
1924. With the publication of Mrs Dalloway in 1925, Woolf offered one of her greatest novels to the
literary world. Mrs Dalloway is known to be her one of the most experimental novels as she
experimented with the form of the novel. In this chapter there would be an endeavour to analyse how
Mrs Woolf has used modern techniques while writing this novel. The novel is created from her two
short stories, Mrs Dalloway in Bond Street and the unfinished The Prime Minister . Mrs Dalloway is
about a single day a Wednesday in mid June 1923 in life of Clarissa Dalloway, the social hostess. Mrs
Dalloway is the same who made a brief appearance in The Voyage Out. There she was exquisite and
bright and excessively interested and now at fifty two, in Mrs Dalloway, a little wiser and more
pensive.

flowers for her party she is to host that evening. Throughout the morning, Clarissa reflects on her past,
including her decision to marry reliable Richard Dalloway thirty years earlier, instead of the enigmatic

home.
Meanwhile, the second storyline begins with Septimus Warren Smith, a shell shocked war veteran, out

hearing voices and feeling that life has little meaning. A car backfiring paralyzes him, and he reflects
on his life. Septimus lost his good friend and commanding officer Evans in the war and continues to

The Relationship Between Madness And Creativity, By...
Whether it is a natural talent or an acquired skill; writing allows artists to bring their creative
expression to life. Interestingly enough, there is a widespread belief that some writers develop their
creativity and knack for writing through suffering from a mental illness. This belief stems from past
research based on the relationship between madness and creativity, especially in the writing field.
Katherine M. Thomas and Marshall Duke wrote the article, Depressed writing: Cognitive distortions
in the works of depressed and non depressed poets and writers. Their article focuses on digging deeper
into the relationship between madness and writing by making an in depth analysis of writing samples
from depressed writers versus the writing samples of those who weren t. Duke and Thomas found that
there is a need for analyzing works of writing because it may provide understanding in the
relationship, which will lead to an understanding of depression and mental illness. Due to this widely
known relationship, some may look at mental illness in a positive light. This relationship may cause
people to look at the distortions as simply art; thus, diminishing the severity of mental illness. When
looking at psychological distortions from an artistic perspective, this may remove the humanity of the
writer; therefore; it is important to analyze and seriously look for the signs of cognitive distortions
because it may help us understand and possibly distinguish the relationship between

Chronic Bronchitis Is A Medical Condition That Enhances...
Chronic bronchitis is a medical condition that enhances the swelling and mucus (phlegm or sputum)
production in the breathing tubes (airways). Airway obstruction takes a place in chronic bronchitis, as
the swelling and extra mucus cause the inside of the breathing tubes to be narrower than normal. This
illness is the fourth leading cause of death and WHO predicted that COPD will be the third leading
cause of death by 2030. Spirometry is the most recommended diagnostic test to assess as to whether a
patient has a COPD or not by Glob initiative in Obstructive Lung disease (GOLD). This test is
specifically designed to identify abnormalities in lung volumes and air flow. Spirometry is utilized
along with physical assessment, medical history notes, x rays and blood tests to confirm the type of
lung disease that a patient is suffering from, which enables timely diagnosis and treatment. Spirometry

De stijl was a collective effort from different types of architect s designers and artists, who all shared a
collective goal of creating a universal Art. Theo van Doesburgh launched the magazine in 1917 in
Leiden in the south of Holland where he moved to in 1916 to be with his sweetheart. while Van
Doesburgh was living in Leiden he was introduced to the work of Piet Mondrian and van der leck who

reminiscent of the likeness between Barque and Picasso in early modernism, which inspired him

Van doesburgh did not feel like he was different to the other painters he was working with instead he
thought that he was working besides them to contribute to creating a new style. Another painter

Gender Inequality Within Developing Countries And Provide...
Furthermore, the IOC and bodies belonging to the movement reserves about 20% of its decision

developed both educational and training programs targeted at women in Sports to empower them to
take up leadership positions within the administrative structures in the NOCs and National Sports
Federations (IOCs Factsheet, 2014). Despite all these interventions and modifications, organised
sports still remains the institution that perpetuates gender inequality (McDonagh and Pappano

In Wacquant s (2004:16) view, one needs to acquire a set of bodily and mental schemata and also to
construct the theory of practice to effectively participate in sports (Bourdieu, 1997). Borrowing from
this approach, I will seek to understand and describe my lived experience through active participation
in sports. In this regard, my research will follow the dictates of Mauss, (1979) that, to attain a
disposition to do sports as in the case of any other technique of the body, the work done by the
individual will be for practical collective reason (that underlines accepted theories of social action). In
societies where athletes excel, the benefit is not for only the athlete but also the community as
Brownell (1995:15) explains in training the body for China . Developing his ideas further, Mauss
(1979) posited that there are instances where a physio psycho sociological congregation of series of
action may be habitual or ancient in the life of the individual and also in the history of the society. The
idea of a habitual physio psycho sociological comportment might help account for why women do not
participate in sports to the same degree as men the larger social habitus does not include a prominent
role for women in sports participation. Nationalisation Foucault (1977, 1978) theorized that

Evelyn Carnahan Archaeology In Fiction
The Archaeologist in Fiction Archaeology is one of the greatest examples of inaccurate and
overdramatized job portrayals in fiction works. This can best be seen through analyzing the 1999
summer classic, The Mummy. From lost cities made visible by sunrise, to the ancient dead rising
again to exact revenge, this movie is a huge archaeological trope through and through. The main hero
in the story, Rick O Connell, can only be called an archaeologist through film. Busting through tombs
and shooting at anything that moves hardly translates into the qualifications of an archaeologist. But
for the sake of this essay, we ll go along with it. His love interest, librarian turned archaeologist,
Evelyn Carnahan, is a far more accurate depiction of a real archaeologist: educated in history, and ...

Going along with stereotype, they both sought out a lost city, untouched for over three thousand years:
the city of the dead, Humunaptra. However, for Evelyn, it s discovery had been a lifelong pursuit since
childhood, when her archeologist parents told her tales of a buried city and its lost treasure. She aimed
not for the treasure, but for her name to be known in the archeological society, which she had been
often laughed out of for her lack of experience and unfortunate gender. O Connell on the other hand,
made his living as a treasure seeker who had little regard for the artifacts involved in his excavations .
Both their ambitions reflect the origins of archeology, where the intentions were not to fill in spaces in
history about ancient cultures and civilizations, but to uncover treasures often buried with the dead, or
give oneself a name that would one day grace history books. However, modern archaeology is very
much about learning as much about the culture as possible, whereas both Evelyn and Rick only seem
to speak of the ancient myths and curses surrounding

Types Of Slackers Essay
When it comes to school every student behaves differently in the classroom. Once I reached high
school I realized that some students cared too much and some students didn t care at all; when it came
to their education. Everyone knows someone who would always come to class but never do anything
or someone who never missed a day of class and always participate in class discussions. During my
years in high school I ve observed several types of students and how they behaved in class. In my
opinion, most students can be categorized as slackers, over achievers, or standards. Slackers are the
students who almost never come to class or doing any assignments. These type of students usually just
enough work to barely pass they class. A slacker never participates in any group or class activities. I
knew a kid in high school who was a slacker, his name was Billy. He was a cool kid but sucked when
it came down to getting assignments done. Billy barely came to class and when he did all he would do

In Voltaire s Candide the issue of wealth doesn t buy you happiness is seen through a lot of characters

Candide admires the Baron s beautiful daughter, Cunegonde, and they share a kiss after one evening.
Cunegonde s father sees the young lovers kiss, and he immediately banishes Candide from his home.

The And Structure Of Family
The definition and structure of family has significantly developed throughout the years, with liberal
perspectives suggesting alternative family arrangements. In 1973, Michael Young and Peter Willmott
conducted studies of family life within the London area and concluded that the development and
changes within the structure of family life can be sorted into three categories of time. (Van Krieken et
al. 2017, p. 107). The pre industrial family (up until the early 19th century), the early industrial family
(Industrial Revolution early 20th century) and the symmetrical family (20th century onwards).

The Industrial Revolution completely transformed family life. In the 1970s, female social scientists,
such as Meg Luxton, began to explore different concepts of family life. (Fox 2015, p. 205). Luton s
1980 book More Than a Labour of Love examines the gender inequalities women faced where men
earned wages and women were expected to act as full time unpaid domestic workers within the home.
Therefore, as a byproduct of this Revolution, women became increasingly independent and career
motivated. (Volarevic 2012, p. 223). Consequently, women were becoming less domestically oriented,
and as a result, were disrupting the family structure. However, this caused major controversy, as many
functionalists were dissatisfied with this change. When exploring the functionalist perspective, many
analysts view the work of Talcott Parsons. Parsons argues that society establishes several institutions
in which reflect a shared valued system. (Grimes 1988, p. 183). He claims that each institution
conduct functional tasks in order to sustain social order. Therefore, when change was brought about,
many perceived moral chaos. Feminist sociologists combatted this argument by declaring that the
ideology of the traditional family structure was of disadvantage to women. (Hare Mustin 1978, p. 1).
They argued that functionalists overlook the inequalities women face in

The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good
government, Thomas Jefferson. This quote explains one of the many reasons Jefferson created the
Democratic Republic party. The Democratic Republicans resisted the idea of a new federal
constitution, they stood for states rights in opposition to a central Govt, and strict interpretation of the
constitution. If we could, the people of 2016 America would vote for the Democratic Republic party
because of their stance on immigration, funding the national debt, and the Jay Treaty. The main idea of

At the time we were funding our national debt, we heard much about a public debt being a public
blessing, Thomas Jefferson on value of the public debt. The idea about funding the public debt was
good for the country, was constantly rejected by the Democratic Republic party, they also believed
that the plan for a national bank was completely unconstitutional. The party was appalled when they
found out Hamilton was using the public debt to solidify his party. Alexander Hamilton created the
Funding Act of 1790, this authorized the government to give the states loans for their war debts. Then
he proposed the idea to create a national bank, he believed that with the national bank he could pay of
the war debts, raise money for the country, and create a common currency. Democratic nominee
Hillary Clinton s stance on this subject is to raise taxes on the wealthy, she claims that this will not
increase the national debt. But, some politicians are skeptical of Clinton s plan, they believe that,
although it would increase the debt it would also make about the same in profit. The Democratic
Republicans also deemed this unconstitutional, for this subject I believe that the Americans of 2016
would have voted for the Democratic Republican party. Mostly because, today our debt is still rising,
even though the national bank and paying our debt off, has been established since Hamilton created
the act.

Success as One of The American Dream When we hear the word success , we often think of wealth
and money. To some people, the embodiment of being success is earning a lot of money. In fact, the
concept of success is primarily based on how much money a person earns. However, each person
views the definition of success differently. One way to define success is something that has more to do
with flash than it does with substance. John Wooden, an American basketball player and coach view
success as a peace of mind which is a direct result of self satisfaction in knowing you did your best to
become the best you are capable of becoming (JLP). John Wooden believes that true measure of
success comes simply when someone do the best they can do, no matter what the outcome is. This
shows that some people view success in a way that does not deal with wealth and money. Success is
considered as one of the American Dream which each individual have at least dream of achieving it at
some point in their life. Although this simple word can be defined in various ways, to achieve success
require rigorous hard work, sacrifices, strong motivation and a wild interpretation of success. Success
is an interesting word to all of us, from the earliest age even to the grave s edge we cannot be
indifferent to it. The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines success as the fact of getting or achieving
wealth ( Success ). However, an

The Definition Of Art Therapy
The definition of Art Therapy adapted by the American Therapy Association: Art Therapy is a human
service profession that utilizes art media, images, the creative art process and patient client responses
to the created products as reflections of an individual s development, abilities, personality interests,
concerns and conflicts. Art therapy practice is based on knowledge of human developmental and
physiological theories which are implemental in the full spectrum of models of assessment and
treatment including educational, psychodynamic, cognitive, transpersonal, and other therapeutic
means of reconciling emotional conflicts, fostering self awareness, developing social skills, managing
behaviour, solving problems, reducing anxiety, aiding reality orientation, and increasing self esteem.

measurement of creative growth was achieved. (Valerie Smitheman Brown Lutherville, Robin R

expressing thoughts and emotions to successfully facilitate recovery from physiological distress. In
Israel, a model for art therapy has been developed for educational settings with children who behave
aggressively (Edna Nissimov Nahum, 2008 ). Verbal communication is difficult for adolescents and
more difficult for aggressive adolescents, it was found that art therapy can reduce anger and improve
self esteem of aggressive adolescents. (Ramin alavinezhad, Masoumeh Mousavi , Nadereh Sohrabi,

My Career Of Nursing
As a child, there were many professions that I wanted to be, and the one I found the most captivating
was nursing. Although I knew that nursing would be a challenge, I knew that I had to pursue that
specific career. Mainly because when I was in 5th grade, my father was always in and out of the
hospital, due to multiple conditions. Throughout the past 6 years, it has been motivating and
encouraging me to have the capability to help those who are in need. Also growing up, I found that
helping others fulfills my heart gives me gratification. Along the way, I have picked up a few tricks
about healthcare and my well being. Aside from nursing, some other personal goals of mine s is to
have my own family, and to move to my dream city of San Diego. Mid way through my high school
years, I started to volunteer at the Sutter Health CMPC California Campus, as an assistant nurse. In
my assigned unit, my job was to facilitate and help assist the elderly with a condition called Alzheimer
s. For my first couple of months, I help feed the elderly and play learning activities that stimulates the
brain. Soon after that, I was assigned to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which was the nursery. I
enjoyed it delightfully as every week, I would go in and prepare rooms for Vaginal or C sections, aid
mothers and prepare families for their newborn child while providing useful information for new
parents.. I continued to volunteer for a little over a year and took a short program at school. At school I
learned how to do CPR which was a long process but now i m CPR certified by The Red Cross. This
volunteer experience was a stepping stone for me to explore my career path and will allow me to
experience what I want to do in life. Becoming a nurse is one of the three goals I have. The other goal
I would like to accomplish in life is to have a family of my own. Growing up, I never had the perfect
family or the typical family that my friends had. My parents were together up until this year, it was a
rocky ride but it didn t work out between them over the years. My high school experience was already
tough, before they separated but after that, I did not have much hope. I did not think I could continue

If it performs well they move on to the next stage to refine and tweak it for the final product. However
if there we some problems they would have to identify it and fix it so that it functions properly. This
method is something that all engineers use and will be a key aspect in my field so I had better get used
to using it. The method I mentioned is something we used in all of our projects, even those that were
done individually. In a project of constructing our own nontraditional paper airplane, we had to
incorporate the method to construct a paper airplane without folding it like a simple paper airplane
usually is made. Initially I thought it would be a very simple project. Although after a series of failures
I had to change my approach. I brainstormed ideas for a while before I thought of a Han glider design.
Han gliders already fly or glide by themselves without any engine or power supply, and they are
aerodynamic in design to get me the required distance and then some. I drew up the sketch and the
draft with scales and all. Then construction of the Arius glider I began. Its first test flight was
successful, but I knew that it could be pushed further. After more drafts and tweaks to the design, I
developed the Arius glider VI that incorporated a coin to act as a weight and give more distance and
acceleration to the plane. All of this was made possible through the engineering process and what I
took from it. The majority of the projects we

Demian Linder Interview
For this interview paper, I decided to interview Demian Linder, a senior software engineer at Kodak
Alaris. Demian is a friend of a friend who graciously gave me time to interview him in his busy life

Descartes And Spinoza On Nature Of God
When it comes to life s unanswerable questions, philosophers have always been prepared to provide
possible explanations on what they believe and try to further discuss difficult topics. This is certainly
the case when it comes to Descartes and Spinoza, who are both adamant that their views provide the
correct context and insight on their opinions of God. In Readings in Modern Philosophy by Ariew and
Watkins, it is revealed that while both philosophers tend to agree on opinions like God being infinite,
there are many reasons why Descartes and Spinoza disagree on the nature of God and their opinion of
substance, for example, Descartes believes that there is more than one type of substance, while
Spinoza argues that God is the only substance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This goes back to the idea of God being infinite because he acknowledges that a substance like God
will always persist regardless of if anyone was there to think him into existence. In addition, the view
that God is a morally good and just substance plays a significant role in Descartes beliefs, without it,
many of his ideas wouldn t be as secure, such as his beliefs of physical objects, he explains this when
he states, Now there clearly is in me a passive faculty of sensing, that is, a faculty for receiving and
knowing the ideas of sensible things; but I could not use it unless there also existed, either in me or in
something else, a certain active faculty of producing or bringing about these ideas... (RMP, 51). This is
one way that Descartes argues that the nature of God is supremely good. It shows that Descartes doesn
t think that God is a deceiver, this is important because it revelas how he views God s nature, as an
inherently good because he explains that if we are deceived by God then he must not be real because
God is not a deceiver.
Alternatively, Spinoza s ideas of the nature of God differ greatly. To begin, Spinoza views God as the
only infinite substance that has an infinite amount of distinct attributes. He believes that God exists
necessarily and that created substances are nonexistent. He defines substance by stating, Substance
which we understand to be through itself supremely perfect and in which nothing can be

The Pros And Cons Of Cocaine
What is Cocaine? Cocaine is the most powerful stimulant of natural origin. It is taken from the leaves
of the coca plant which is native to the Andean highlands of South America. It is a potent brain

It takes time for the body to produce more and when you use cocaine you can deplete your supply of
neurotransmitters which are required for the normal day functioning of your body. This can cause
feelings of depression and lethargy making it difficult to take pleasure in things that would normally
feel good. It means that repeated use of cocaine or other drugs that interact with these
neurotransmitters such as ecstasy or amphetamines will result in less return as the drugs will have no
neurotransmitters to draw upon hence tolerance can easily build up on stimulants.
Short and Long Term Effects of Cocaine
The short term physiological effects of cocaine include constricted blood vessels, dilated pupils, and
increased temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure. Large amounts intensify the user s high, but may
also lead to bizarre, erratic, and violent behavior. The short term effects on the brain are tremors,
vertigo, muscle twitches, paranoia. Some users of cocaine report feelings of restlessness, irritability,
and anxiety
The long term effects of cocaine are very extreme. Once having tried cocaine, an individual may have
difficulty controlling the urge to use the drug and the perspective might change leaving the
consumption of the drug as primordial. Cocaine s stimulant and addictive effects are due primarily as
a result of its ability to stop the reabsorption of dopamine by nerve

Porous Asphalt Research Paper
Asphalt pavement can be found on more than 94 percent of America s paved roads. Interstate
highways, urban streets and rural lanes all depend on asphalt for durable, smooth, economical
pavements. Asphalt pavement is also the most popular choice for parking lots. Despite the fact that
asphalt pavement is already environmentally friendly, the asphalt industry has worked tirelessly to
make it even more environmentally green. The latest development in green paving is porous asphalt.
What Is Porous Asphalt? Porous asphalt, which is sometimes called permeable asphalt, allows water
to infiltrate beneath the pavement. After the water percolates through the pavement, it reaches a
special drainage system that redirects the water back into the soil.

The Harlem Renaissance s Influence On People s Views On...
Travel back in time several centuries ago to the 1900 s and imagine how different life would be oil
lamps/candles, outhouses or one toilet shared between several people, movies known as flickers and
lasting no longer than 10 minutes, no television, ice boxes as opposed to refrigerators, baseball being
the main sport that people followed as opposed to football, and unless you were a White male, your
lifestyle was not filled with many opportunities or rights. With slavery being abolished not too long
ago, discrimination and segregation was still widely accepted and practiced. Life was much different
back then. Although people were heavily being judged for the color of their skin, a movement called
the Harlem Renaissance had a major influence on people s views on African Americans across the
United States. The Harlem Renaissance created a new Black cultural identity through literature, music,
theater, art, and politics. One of the leading voices was Langston Hughes, a writer whom wrote
realistic portrayals, both suffering and victories of African American lifestyles through poetry, short
stories, novels, and plays. Through short, effective, and expressive words, Langston Hughes s poetry
promoted African American culture and also addressed the oppression and injustice of African
Americans.

the Southern states to the Northern states in an epidemic known as the Great Migration.

The process of capacocha could begin years before the selected person was killed. The Incan state held annual rituals where they sacrificed children to the gods in order to promote a healthy harvest and the working of the sun. Children were sometimes brought to ceremonies from their homes, then returned to be killed. Several theories exist explaining Incan motives for capacocha. One states that the Incans practiced this sacrifice in order to ensure a plentiful harvest, rain, and protection for the people. Another focuses on the idea that the children of local leaders were chosen because their parents would thus strengthen ties to the emperor. A third perspective is based on sacrifice as response to vital occurrences such as eclipses and deaths of emperors. The child, selected to perfection, may need to escort the emperor to the ... Recently, beginning in the 1950s, that search has included the use of illegal substances like steroids and growth hormones. Illegal substances have been used widely by athletes in hop es of achieving the desired Olympic gold medal or multi million dollar contract. Some nations, for example the late East Germany in the 1970s and 1980s, have mandated the use of steroids by their athletes. The downside of using those illegal substances is that because they are illegal, getting caught using them can lead to losing that coveted gold medal, a lifetime ban from sports, and a total loss of honor and dignity. This is why the search is now on to find some legal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The transformation of creatine into energy occurs within the first few seconds of exertion. Creatine supplements are artificially made creatine that can be taken by athletes as ergogens, substances that can be used by athletes to enhance performance. Artificially made creatine is available as powder, capsules, candy, and gum. The goal of creatine supplementation is to increase the energy in the muscles so that athletes can improve their strength, speed, and endurance. Although creatine is fairly expensive (fifty dollars for a one month supply), the original results of creatine testing and usage were very positive. Creatine supplementation helps the body by increasing the amount of creatine in the muscles, thus enabli ng the body to put out more energy more quickly. It was first discovered in the early 1900s, before creatine supplements were available, that increasing dietary creatine in turn increases the amount of creatine in the muscles (Jenkins). Supplementation of creatine in the diet leads to even higher levels of muscular creatine. Research has confirmed this. Current data indicate that muscle creatine levels increase, on average, 20% after six days of creatine supplementation at twenty grams per day (Eichne r 76). This increase of creatine in the muscles in turn increases the body s potential for exertion. Once creatine supplements were tested in humans, those increases were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While the old way of going to a shop to get the feel and touch of a product before purchasing it is still nice, for certain services like booking airline or concert tickets have made the process much easier and efficient. Although predictions have been made on the future of online shopping and the increased growth in sales, the question arises as to why don t more South African businesses utilise this market? This question can go hand in hand with another question: Why do consumers in South Africa still prefer shopping at a shopping mall as opposed to the convenient way of shopping online? Interestingly enough, there is a widespread belief that some writers develop their creativity and knack for writing through suffering from a mental illness. This belief stems from past research based on the relationship between madness and creativity, especially in the writing field. Katherine M. Thomas and Marshall Duke wrote the article, Depressed writing: Cognitive distortions in the works of depressed and non depressed poets and writers. Their article focuses on digging deeper into the relationship between madness and writing by making an in depth analysis of writing samples from depressed writers versus the writing samples of those who weren t. Duke and Thomas found that there is a need for analyzing works of writing because it may provide understanding in the relationship, which will lead to an understanding of depression and mental illness. Due to this widely known relationship, some may look at mental illness in a positive light. This relationship may cause people to look at the distortions as simply art; thus, diminishing the severity of mental illness. When looking at psychological distortions from an artistic perspective, this may remove the humanity of the writer; therefore; it is important to analyze and seriously look for the signs of cognitive distortions because it may help us understand and possibly distinguish the relationship between ... However, we need balance in our communication skills, verbal and written, not too complex or simple, but effective enough to communicate with a distinctive professional voice. Through his use of imagery, and tone, the author obviously shows the theme of death and warfare. In the poem vivid imagery is used to help readers understand the theme. Many had lost their boots, but limped on, blood shod. In that part of the poem he uses the word blood shod; that means the soldiers in the poem are wearing shoes of blood and have to walk around all the blood shed that surrounds them on the battlefield. • 29. Democratic-Republic Party Essay The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government, Thomas Jefferson. This quote explains one of the many reasons Jefferson created the Democratic Republic party. The Democratic Republicans resisted the idea of a new federal constitution, they stood for states rights in opposition to a central Govt, and strict interpretation of the constitution. If we could, the people of 2016 America would vote for the Democratic Republic party because of their stance on immigration, funding the national debt, and the Jay Treaty. The main idea of the Democratic Republican party was, to represent the interest of the common free man. Immigration has always been an important topic in today s political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the time we were funding our national debt, we heard much about a public debt being a public blessing, Thomas Jefferson on value of the public debt. The idea about funding the public debt was good for the country, was constantly rejected by the Democratic Republic party, they also believed that the plan for a national bank was completely unconstitutional. The party was appalled when they found out Hamilton was using the public debt to solidify his party. Alexander Hamilton created the Funding Act of 1790, this authorized the government to give the states loans for their war debts. Then he proposed the idea to create a national bank, he believed that with the national bank he could pay of the war debts, raise money for the country, and create a common currency. Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton s stance on this subject is to raise taxes on the wealthy, she claims that this will not increase the national debt. But, some politicians are skeptical of Clinton s plan, they believe that, although it would increase the debt it would also make about the same in profit. The Democratic Republicans also deemed this unconstitutional, for this subject I believe that the Americans of 2016 would have voted for the Democratic Republican party. Mostly because, today our debt is still rising, even though the national bank and paying our debt off, has been established since Hamilton created the act. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Success As One Of The American Dream Sintya Sintya English 112 09:00 a.m. Professor Wittlake 28 April 2015 Success as One of The American Dream When we hear the word success , we often think of wealth and money. To some people, the embodiment of being success is earning a lot of money. In fact, the concept of success is primarily based on how much money a person earns. However, each person views the definition of success differently. One way to define success is something that has more to do with flash than it does with substance. John Wooden, an American basketball player and coach view success as a peace of mind which is a direct result of self satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming (JLP). John Wooden believes that true measure of success comes simply when someone do the best they can do, no matter what the outcome is. This shows that some people view success in a way that does not deal with wealth and money. Success is considered as one of the American Dream which each individual have at least dream of achieving it at some point in their life. Although this simple word can be defined in various ways, to achieve success require rigorous hard work, sacrifices, strong motivation and a wild interpretation of success. Success is an interesting word to all of us, from the earliest age even to the grave s edge we cannot be indifferent to it. • 34. My Career Of Nursing As a child, there were many professions that I wanted to be, and the one I found the most captivating was nursing. Although I knew that nursing would be a challenge, I knew that I had to pursue that specific career. Mainly because when I was in 5th grade, my father was always in and out of the hospital, due to multiple conditions. Throughout the past 6 years, it has been motivating and encouraging me to have the capability to help those who are in need. Also growing up, I found that helping others fulfills my heart gives me gratification. Along the way, I have picked up a few tricks about healthcare and my well being. Aside from nursing, some other personal goals of mine s is to have my own family, and to move to my dream city of San Diego. Mid way through my high school years, I started to volunteer at the Sutter Health CMPC California Campus, as an assistant nurse. In my assigned unit, my job was to facilitate and help assist the elderly with a condition called Alzheimer s. For my first couple of months, I help feed the elderly and play learning activities that stimulates the brain. Soon after that, I was assigned to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which was the nursery. I enjoyed it delightfully as every week, I would go in and prepare rooms for Vaginal or C sections, aid mothers and prepare families for their newborn child while providing useful information for new parents.. I continued to volunteer for a little over a year and took a short program at school. At school I learned how to do CPR which was a long process but now i m CPR certified by The Red Cross. This volunteer experience was a stepping stone for me to explore my career path and will allow me to experience what I want to do in life. Becoming a nurse is one of the three goals I have. The other goal I would like to accomplish in life is to have a family of my own. Growing up, I never had the perfect family or the typical family that my friends had. My parents were together up until this year, it was a rocky ride but it didn t work out between them over the years. My high school experience was already tough, before they separated but after that, I did not have much hope. I did not think I could continue on with school because everything ... However if there we some problems they would have to identify it and fix it so that it functions properly. This method is something that all engineers use and will be a key aspect in my field so I had better get used to using it. The method I mentioned is something we used in all of our projects, even those that were done individually. In a project of constructing our own nontraditional paper airplane, we had to incorporate the method to construct a paper airplane without folding it like a simple paper airplane usually is made. Initially I thought it would be a very simple project. Although after a series of failures I had to change my approach. I brainstormed ideas for a while before I thought of a Han glider design. Han gliders already fly or glide by themselves without any engine or power supply, and they are aerodynamic in design to get me the required distance and then some. I drew up the sketch and the draft with scales and all. Then construction of the Arius glider I began. Its first test flight was successful, but I knew that it could be pushed further. After more drafts and tweaks to the design, I developed the Arius glider VI that incorporated a coin to act as a weight and give more distance and acceleration to the plane. All of this was made possible through the engineering process and what I took from it. The majority of the projects we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Descartes And Spinoza On Nature Of God When it comes to life s unanswerable questions, philosophers have always been prepared to provide possible explanations on what they believe and try to further discuss difficult topics. This is certainly the case when it comes to Descartes and Spinoza, who are both adamant that their views provide the correct context and insight on their opinions of God. In Readings in Modern Philosophy by Ariew and Watkins, it is revealed that while both philosophers tend to agree on opinions like God being infinite, there are many reasons why Descartes and Spinoza disagree on the nature of God and their opinion of substance, for example, Descartes believes that there is more than one type of substance, while Spinoza argues that God is the only substance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This goes back to the idea of God being infinite because he acknowledges that a substance like God will always persist regardless of if anyone was there to think him into existence. In addition, the view that God is a morally good and just substance plays a significant role in Descartes beliefs, without it, many of his ideas wouldn t be as secure, such as his beliefs of physical objects, he explains this when he states, Now there clearly is in me a passive faculty of sensing, that is, a faculty for receiving and knowing the ideas of sensible things; but I could not use it unless there also existed, either in me or in something else, a certain active faculty of producing or bringing about these ideas... (RMP, 51). This is one way that Descartes argues that the nature of God is supremely good. It shows that Descartes doesn t think that God is a deceiver, this is important because it revelas how he views God s nature, as an inherently good because he explains that if we are deceived by God then he must not be real because God is not a deceiver. Alternatively, Spinoza s ideas of the nature of God differ greatly. To begin, Spinoza views God as the only infinite substance that has an infinite amount of distinct attributes. He believes that God exists necessarily and that created substances are nonexistent. Travel back in time several centuries ago to the 1900 s and imagine how different life would be oil lamps/candles, outhouses or one toilet shared between several people, movies known as flickers and lasting no longer than 10 minutes, no television, ice boxes as opposed to refrigerators, baseball being the main sport that people followed as opposed to football, and unless you were a White male, your lifestyle was not filled with many opportunities or rights. With slavery being abolished not too long ago, discrimination and segregation was still widely accepted and practiced. Life was much different back then. Although people were heavily being judged for the color of their skin, a movement called the Harlem Renaissance had a major influence on people s views on African Americans across the United States. The Harlem Renaissance created a new Black cultural identity through literature, music, theater, art, and politics. One of the leading voices was Langston Hughes, a writer whom wrote realistic portrayals, both suffering and victories of African American lifestyles through poetry, short stories, novels, and plays. Through short, effective, and expressive words, Langston Hughes s poetry promoted African American culture and also addressed the oppression and injustice of African Americans.
