Theories Of Psychology
The first theories talked about within chapter 4 are the inferiority and superiority complex
theories developed by Alfred. The infinity feelings are the source of all human striving, and is
normal among us all. It is brought about as soon as we are born, as we must compensate for our
lack of size or independence. The greatest example I can give of the inferiority feeling happened
two days ago with the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. Abdellatif Baka of Algeria won the T13
1500m final on Monday night in a stunning performance that not only set a new Paralympic world
record, but stands as the fastest 1500m time recorded by an able bodied or disabled athlete in Rio
over both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Among him was three other runners that finished...

A female patient from New York City is obviously going to be much different than a female farm
wife from Oklahoma. Personality doesn t depend wholly on biological forces, but depends much
more on the environment we was raised in. Horney believed that childhood was dominated by
the safety need, which is a higher level need for security and freedom from fear. She placed great
emphasis on the infant s helplessness. The more helpless children feel, the less they dare to rebel
against their parents. She also dwelled on anxiety which she called basic anxiety. Basic anxiety is
a pervasive feeling of loneliness and helplessness, that becomes the foundation for neurosis. In
childhood we try to protect ourselves against basic anxiety by securing affection, being submissive,
attaining power, and by withdrawing. These self protective mechanisms serve the one goal of
defending basic anxiety. Karen also developed a list of ten neurotic needs. A neurotic need is an
irrational defense against anxiety that becomes a permanent part of personality and affects
behavior. Then ten neurotic needs are: affection and approval, a dominant partner, power,
exploitation, prestige, admiration, achievement and ambition, self sufficiency, perfection, narrow
limits to life. Developing these needs will not make us feel safe and secure but help us escape the
discomfort caused by

The Theme Of Mary Lennox s The Secret Garden
Keys can be a dangerous thing to have in possession. They can unlock doors that may remind
people of darker times, or they could open the way to opportunity. Everything in the world has a
key , both literally and figuratively. As Mary Lennox said, I found the key! It s like magic! But
not only did she find the key to the secret garden, she found the key to end her feelings of
abandonment, loss, and neglect. The theme of The Secret Garden is isolation and abandonment.
Even before Mary Lennox even arrives at her new home, she finds herself resenting it. But what
else could she do? The young girl had never experienced love or excitement. Medlock, trying to
pass time, asks her if she has a favorite story. With her arms folded across her chest, and her face
scrunched to show wrinkles, Mary retorts to the Medlock, My mother didn t have the time to tell
me stories. The Medlock, she is surprised, but simply shakes her head and remains silent for the
rest of the journey. Mary had come from India, where she lived with her neglectful parents. Mary
is so emotionally damaged that she said I was angry. I never cried. I didn t know how to cry.
When her parents died, rumors spread that she did not show remorse. At the manor, Mary
quickly gives herself the reputation of being a spoiled girl, as shown when she commanded
Martha to dress her, and then called her unitellegent when Martha was trying to make a joke
about Mary s wardrobe colors, which happened to be black. Mary is upset, but Martha ends up
introducing her to Dickon, who becomes her first friend. Mary goes outside and finds a garden,
and an old man. He asks her why she is here, and she replies and says, Where s the door? Mary
wants to find the key to the garden, as she is intrigued by it. The old man tells her that, No one s
been inside that place for ten years, referencing to the fact that Archibald Craven(Mary s uncle)
closed the garden when his son Colin was born and his wife died. The garden was his wife s
favorite, and they say she died by falling off a swing in the garden. Mary meets Dickon, and they
instantly become friends. Mary wasted no time inviting him into the garden. Dickon tells her to
show me the way in, referring to the symbolism of the

Dna And Biological Instructions For The Development,...
Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is an extensive molecule that contains genetic material that makes up
almost all living organisms including plants, animals, and even some viruses. This genetic material
or genetic code in DNA is composed of biological instructions that are responsible for the
development, survival, and reproduction of organisms. Information stored in DNAis made of four
chemical bases or building blocks, adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T) which
come together to form pairs in molecules: Adenine to Thymine, and Cytosine to Guanine. Humans
have billions of these base pairs within their bodies. These pairs separate to form into paired
packages that resemble X s called chromosomes that are made of structure of nucleic acids and
protein stored in the nucleus of cells (National Human Genome Research Institute, 2015). The DNA
in cells contains structural proteins (responsible for the structure, function, and regulation of the
body s tissues and organs) and endoenzyme or intracellular enzymes (that control cytoplmic and
nuclear activities) called genes. Genes operate as a list of instructions for molecules and are in
control of the promotion of reproduction within the cell. All organisms are different from one
another and have a unique combination of traits. However, many organisms share similarities, like
when a child (offspring) has similar features or characteristics, like height or having brown hair like
their parents. This is because hereditary

The Sun Also Rises
When looking into characters, both superficially and deeper, it is common to see some reflection of
the author s beliefs and experiences within those characters. After all, in a fiction story, the author is
the creator. These characters are not created out of nothing. The birth of the characters in the novel
The Sun Also Risesby Ernest Hemingwayserve to act out parts of him he was not allowed to
express. Within the story, written in 1926, each character faces their own moral and social
struggles, but act as a group in reflection of Hemingway s psyche. The story remains considerably
brief, but within its short pages is the entirety of just whom Hemingway was. In accordance with
the time period and his upbringing, Hemingway was denied many... Show more content on

Like Hemingway in his childhood and adolescence, this unnamed character feels trapped. By not
assigning this to a named and main character, Hemingway notes the significance of this opinion.
That in itself is in good reflection of his psyche he felt, and still did at the time of writing,
trapped and perhaps depressed. Hemingway s struggle with self image is also heavily prevalent
in The Sun Also Rises. Character Brett is the love interest of Jake, but she is taken by a man that
Jake is jealous of. Mike, who served in the war but was not at all proficient (Berman 1), is a
drunkard. Brett loves him because of his charm and wit. This shows Hemingway s inability to
recover. Jake sees himself as the more appropriate suitor, being that Mike is such a fool.
Hemingway put a lot of blame on his past, and Mike is the opposite of that. He served in the war
to a poor extent, and does not let his dependence on alcohol become an excuse. Hemingway
projects on Jake the same emotion he feels the war held him back, he is a victim, and the world
is unfair. The victim complex can prevent one from moving forward, a value found deeply
ingrained in the story ( Values, Reynolds 1). The Roaring 20s were an attempt at recovery from the
first World War, an attempt at healing the minds and bodies of countless broken and affected
nations. People wanted to forget, but Hemingway and Jake alike were facing difficulties in moving

Steve Jobs, cofounder of Apple, really sticks out in my mind. In my opinion, it talks about egos
and work ethics business workers should have. It is an example people in general should follow.
The quote is saying, if you do a good job on something, like an assignment or a task, you should
waste your time seizing the moment for too long. If you did well on that one thing, you can do
something great on something else. Continue that cycle and you ll do great all the time. Evolution

dwell off the good things I have done in the past, I try to do good things all the time. This way, I do

Single-Sex Education Vs Single Sex Schools
In 2002, the National Association for Single Sex Public Education (NASSPE) was first founded
there were only about a dozen schools that offer some form of single sex education. But since
2012, the number has increased by at least 500 public schools now offering single sex educational
opportunities. Single sex schools benefit students as they achieve better marks and test scores
compared to co ed schools. The academic achievement made by students in single sex schools
broadens when girls and boys are separated from the opposite sex due to distractions, gender
differences, and learning environment. Single sex schools can be educational than co ed school
because boys are less attracted by girls and girls are also less obsessed with the boys. Therefore,
students may pay more attention in class without the distractions from the opposite sex. Single sex
educationhas a delightful way of encouraging students to be fearless, curious, enthusiastic, and
to simply be themselves. Firstly, there is less pressure to act cool around friends of other sex.
Secondly, there is less conflict between friends of the opposite sex. Thirdly is more relaxed
attitude such as not putting on a show for boys or girls they like. Last but not least, they have
lower levels of anxiety over appearance or clothing to impress the opposite sex. According to this
chart girls tend to spend more time at school over boys. This could potentially mean in co ed
school boys hold girls back from learning to

Earth s Layers Lab Report
Conclusion The hypothesis for the Earth s Layers Lab was If the Earth has layers, then the denser
material will be closer to the center of the Earth, and the hypothesis was accepted. The data
collected during the experiment accepted the hypothesis was that the sand from film canister #1
had a density of 0.32 g/mL3 and the canister would float on top of the water. The sand from film
canister #2 had a densityof 0.99 g/mL3 and the top of the canister would be right below the
surface if the water. Finally, the sand from film canister #3 had a density of 1.17 g/mL3 and the

One good thing was that the volume of the film canister was measured properly. Some problems
were that when the water in the canister was poured into the graduated cylinder, a few drops of
water spilled back into the tub of water. Also on the graduated cylinder had lines to the nearest
millimeter but the meniscus was in between two lines so the measurement was not completely
accurate. There were a few extraneous variables. One of the extraneous variables was the volume
was calculated from a separate canister. The other three canisters had slightly differents masses so
they all could have had different volumes making the densities of the sand not completely accurate.
One other extraneous variable was when the canisters were put in the water a small amount of
water got in the canisters making the sand wet. This could make the sand s density different making

Habitus is the environment which one is born into. This environment includes the people, traditions
and learned behaviors of this intimate social network. Blunden addresses specifically the habitus of
which the apparently disadvantaged occupy and how these positions are the base of social
formation. Habitus explains how, and why, they actively seek to maintain that position and uphold
specific norms (Blunden 2004). Blunden explains that these creatures maintain their position and

Education is accessible to everyone through the availability of student loans, just about anyone
can get student loans; and for those that are unsure of how to go about it there is plenty of aid in
the process. Even if one is not raised within the linguistic capital to encourage certain behaviors

In the poem I am Yusuf oh father Mahmoud Darwish tries to give the readers a vivid insight into
the relationship between Israel and Palestine by comparing Jews practice of oppression to what
Yusuf s brothers did to him. Through the guise of the story of yusuf and his brothers, Darwish

Jewish majority in Israel and make Palestinians as outsiders in their own homeland. Most Zionist

What Was The Role Of Women In Nineteenth-Century England
Introduction
A conflict stirred among the sexes during the nineteenth century that reverberated through all
aspects of life from science to literature. The advent of the Industrial Revolution in the late 1700s
and the introduction of capitalism sparked the discussion on the nature and role of women as
society shifted from a land centered economy to an urban workforce. This argument gained such
notoriety it commonly became known as The WomanQuestion, and it covered aspects of the legal
and political rights of women, education, and economic opportunities. Such was the discussion that
scientists, philosophers, and biologists like Charles Darwin, Herbert Spencer, and Patrick Geddes
entered the debate with each offering ideas on the role women ... Show more content on

He called for perfect equality among the sexes (Mill 3). Then, in 1871, Charles Darwin published
The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex. In this book, he discusses topics ranging
from human evolution, as in his On the Origin of Species, to the differences between the sexes.
The latter topic being the most prominent in the discussion on The Woman Question and what
roles women were to occupy. British philosopher Herbert Spencer suggested everyone had basic
rights, including women, and that these rights were necessary for social progress and those basic
rights fell in with cooperation among the sexes rather than competition (Sweet). Similarly, Patrick
Geddes, a Scottish biologist and follower of Spencer, theorized that male and female
characteristics were complementary and must be kept in balance. His views supported, to some
degree, the separation of men and women into separate spheres not because the sexes were unequal
but because they were and needed ways in which to express their strengths. Interestingly enough,
these types of ideas and theories surfaced in the literature of the Victorian era, namely that of

The Paternalistic Doctor Patient Relationship
It is difficult to imagine a time when exploitation of patients was a normal practice. It is worse that
such a time was not all that long ago. While reading the story of Henrietta Lacks, I consistently had
to remind myself that times were different. Doctors did not necessarily intend to harm their patients
in any way, however it is impossible not to feel pity for Henrietta, her family, and any others who
were mistreated simply due to the ignorance of the times. One of the noticeable recurrent themes of
this story was the paternalistic doctor patient relationship. There were multiple occasions in which
Day mentioned how he simply trusted the doctors to do what was right. He and Henrietta assumed
doctors understood their patients needs better than the patients themselves, and therefore never
asked questions. My understanding is that this was a common mentality at the time. I imagine this
mentality was especially prominent among less fortunate classes of people who did not have the
means to understand what their doctors were telling them. In cases in which harm befell patients,
the doctor patient relationship was likely a primary culprit. Doctors had a paternalistic attitude, and
therefore did not excel at communicating with their patients, specifically at a level that was
appropriate to the given situation. Adding to the problem, patients did not ask questions, simply
because they did not know they had the option to do so. The opportunity to observe a classic

The Epidemic Of Illegal File Sharing
Music Industry in America is one of the most powerful music industries in the world and it consists
of many record labels, nevertheless, the top three major labels are Universal Music Group, Sony
Music Entertainment, and Warner Music Group. Most of music industries earn revenue by creating
and selling their goods to music consumers and also music retailers. In the past, major labels or
music companies sold their products through sheet music (the handwritten or printed form of music
notation) then developed to vinyl records, cassettes, and CDs.
Bhattacharjee, S et al. (2006: 92) evidently reported the situation of illegal file sharing in 2003 and
suggested the method to discard the problem that:
In response to this epidemic of illegal file sharing (RIAA 2003a), on June 26, 2003, RIAA
redirected legal threats toward individual subscribers of these networks who, in the past, enjoyed
anonymity in P2P environments. Prior to RIAA s recent legal efforts, individual file sharers were
almost completely immune from legal liability when violating copyright law. These recent legal
developments have considerably altered that perceived notion (Graham 2003; Lichtman 2003).
Owing to the impracticality of filing lawsuits against every individual file sharer, RIAA has
chosen to focus on a relatively small group of individuals and maximize the publicity surrounding
its legal action to discourage the overall participation in file‐sharing networks.
However, this problem still exist in USA

The Reasons Of The Cuba Embargo Against Cuba
Cuba embargo has failed. During the last 50 years, the United States government has maintained
the trade embargo against Cuba. The Cuba embargo was put in place as executive order by
Kennedy in 1962 because Fidel Castro confiscated many America businesses in Cuba. The
Embargo did not get the result for it was indented. Furthermore, the embargo has been failed policy
and it should be lifted immediately for three strong reasons. First, the embargo helps Castro to stay
the power. Second it is bad for American economy. Finally it is political incorrect.
The first reason to lift the America embargo against Cuba is because the embargo helps Fidel Castro
to preserve the power. According to Griswold (2005) the embargo actually enhances Castro s

the embargo issue The United States is great loser because every year many countries condemn the

Toy Stimulates The Child With A Great Deal Of Muscle Tone...
This toy would facilitate a child with a great deal of muscle tone development. Muscle tone is the

though the actions of sitting on the floor in front of the toy, sitting upright on top of the toy,
keeping their hands on the handlebars or the lid of the compartment to keep it open and keeping
their legs down and on the ground when sitting on the car. To play with this toy while in sitting,
either in the front of the car or to the side to play with the buttons on the dashboard, the child
needs to maintain an upright posture. This upright posture allows the child to be at the proper eye

sitting on the toy; for the child to get the most benefit out of the buttons, keys, knob, leverand
handlebars, the child needs to be sitting in the upright position on the toy. The child s muscletone
development can also be encouraged by maintaining a gross grasp on the handlebars as well as

Colonialism And Imperialism
The country s history begins when the Maya Empire first colonized the area and flourished until
about AD 800. (culturegrams.com) One of their greatest accomplishments in Honduras was the city
of Copan, a city that was abandoned by the Maya people, and eventually became a colonist magnet
for the area when imperialism in Spain took off. Honduras was first inhabited by Spaniards after
Christopher Columbuslanded on the Northern Coast of Honduras under the control of the Spanish
King and Queen in 1592. Explorers such as Henry Cortez and CristГіbal de Olid explored the
country and formed colonies. (nationsonline.com) Around this time imperialism already began to
affect the native people already there. The formation of colonies caused conflicts as the
nationalistic and racist ideas the Europeans had were harmful and inconsiderate of the native
peoples ways. An example of this was the battle at Comayagua between the Lenca Indians and the
Spanish settlers. This battle was fought by the Lenca Indians in an attempt to stop further
expansion of the Spanish ways and exploitation of their native culture. The arrival of the Spaniards
and their colonization set the scene for a slippery slope of imperialism s negative effects that were
to come. Fast forward to 1821, when Central America gained their independence from Spain. When
they were granted independence Spain was in shambles to due to France successfully taking over in
1813. (history.com) Since Spain was taken over and controlled by another country and one that had
turned on them after being an ally they were not too concerned with their colonies overseas due to
the Napoleonic Wars. The colonies didn t benefit France and their battles in Europe so they were
granted their independence without a fight. The brush off of these potentially new countries, did
not set them up for a successful future. It left them without much guidance and caused power
struggles throughout the area, all due to the cut off of the previous imperialistic ways. With no
larger country to help them with their creation of a new country, Honduras went through a couple
more name changes and political power discrepancies.
Just after these Central American countries were granted independence, what is

Should Deaf People Receive Cochlear Implants Or...
Should deaf people receive cochlear implants or communicate through sign language? The use of
cochlear implants has become a very controversial topic within the deaf community. My question
was inspired by the sources Why Is Dancing So Good for Your Brain and from Mapping the
Bilingual Brain . Both sources mentioned sign language, which made me think about the debate
over whether deaf people should receive a cochlear implantor communicate solely through sign
language. The first single channel cochlear implant was introduced in 1972 as an electrical device
that provides a sense of hearing to those that are profoundly deaf or severely hard of hearing
(Tallungan). Though the technology behind cochlear implants has improved, there is still a divide
throughout the United States as to whether deaf individuals should receive cochlear implants or
communicate solely through sign language. But, by December 2012, 58,000 adults and 38,000
children had received cochlear implant in the United States (Tallungan).
While there are many risks involved with cochlear implants, there could also be many benefits. The
question that remains is, Do the benefits of receiving a cochlear implant outweigh the risks?
Although many advances have been made scientifically to improve the effectiveness of cochlear
implants, it is also important to examine the opinions of the deaf society, how a deaf person s
communication skills may develop with or without a cochlear implant, and the economic factors

The forced ranking is a very harsh rating system in my eyes. I believe the forced ranking system
is unethical. Eliminating the bottom ten of an organization ever year can be costly to a
company. It promotes employee turnover and increases the company s labor cost. Recruiting,
hiring and training new people to replace the terminated employees can be very expensive. There
is no guarantee that the newly hired employees will be any better than the old employees that
were eliminated. This system is not fair to employees and emp0loyees don t have faith in this
system. There is better ways to manage performance and there are effective ways to improve
performance level of employees. Management can control performance by exploring the causes of
performance problem, what cause the problem, develop an effective plan and empower their
employees to reach a solution, communicate with the worker and provide positive feedback. Once
an employee has been identified as a non productive employees, management should find out why
the employee is not productive and offer them coaching or training to help the individual. 2.Part of
the forced ranking label reflects the intent to force distinctions among worker performance levels. In
an absolute rating system, everyone could be rated above average. Do this different between the
absolute and relative rating approaches mean that the absolute

How Did Lenin Come To Power
Lenin thought the idea of a revolution, and the planning of it was effortless and simple to carry on.
He believed the attack had to be made in three key places, including Petrograd, Moscow and Baltic
Fleet. He believed the Petrograd soldiers were able to obtain the Winter Palace, the General Staff
Building and other important buildings adding that this would cause Alexander Kerensky to
surrender. Notwithstanding, the BolshevikCentral Committee did not accept his ideas, leading to an
ultimatum sent by Lenin, in which he resigned to the Committee, and stated that he would have the
right to issue propaganda to those other members of the party.

The Indigo Spell
I survived reading The Ruby Circle. Can you believe it? I have battle wounds and I live to tell
you this wondrous tale. I know a half ass written book when I see one. The Ruby Circle, is it.
This book is a train wreck waiting to happen since The Fiery Heart and I couldn t get off fast
enough. Despite its second rate book covers and predictable plot. I genuinely loved the first two
books of Bloodlines series. The third book, The Indigo Spell isn t as bad as the latter ones but I
don t have a soft spot for it as its prior installments. The last three books, however is the downfall
of the series. I will try to keep my review with minimum spoilers, but there are no promises
guarantees. Bloodlines series follows the story of Sydney Sage, a teenager girl who is part of an
Alchemist organization. They aim to prevent humans from discovering there is another species
apart from them. When Sydney was sent to Palm Springs, California to oversee the protection of a

between the people and a particular company. Public relations sometimes also includes an
organization or individual trying to gain exposure to people involving topics of public interests,
issues and news items that do not require direct payment. The main purpose and aim of public
relations done by a company or an organization mostly is to persuade the public, investors, partners,
employees, and other stakeholders to maintain a proper image and goodwill about it.. Some of the

general public.
Effective Public Relations strategies or campaigns can build up a presentable and trustworthy image
of an individual, an organization or even a nation. During situations when the organization or the
individual is going through or suffering from bad publicity, an effective and smart Public Relations
Strategy can get rid of the misunderstanding and can be very helpful in rebuilding the image of the

Load capacities, operating speed and instructions are posted and are visible to the operator of
the crane for reference. Crane machinery and also other rigging equipment are inspected daily

A BWB aircraft is a configuration where the wing and fuselage are integrated which essentially
results in a large flying wing. BWB aircraft were previously called tailless airplanes and Flying
Wing aircraft . It is an unconventional aircraft design that has continued to attract a great deal of
interest due to the promise of great aerodynamic advantages. The conventional wing fuselage
configuration has been proven design for many years but, from aerodynamic point of view, is
lacking efficiency. The fuselage provides for a great amount of drag while contributing nothing to
the lift of the aircraft. This deficiency has always been balanced by the need for an adequate

automobile generally takes three to five years from inception to assembly. Ideas for new models
are developed to respond to unmet pubic needs and preferences. Trying to predict what the
public will want to drive in five years is no small feat, yet automobile companies have
successfully designed automobiles that fit public tastes. With the help of computer aided design
equipment, designers develop basic concept drawings that help them visualize the proposed
vehicle s appearance. Based on this simulation, they then construct wax models that can be
studied by styling experts familiar with what the public is likely to accept. Aerodynamic
engineers also review the models, studying airflow parameters and doing feasibility studies on
crash tests. Only after all models have been reviewed and accepted are tool designers permitted to
begin building the tools that will manufacture the component parts of the new model. Design For

Research Paper On The Divine Comedy
Divine Comedy The Divine Comedy is a lengthy poem composed by a considerable Italian poet
that worked primarily in the late middle ages. Composed by Dante Alighieri, who was a
political thinker, writer, and poet who is remembered mostly for composing The Divine
Comedy, which made a lasting impact on theology, as well as literature. Many consider Dante a
genius when it came to literature, a wise man full of knowledge. He was born in Florence, Italy
and lived from 1265 to 1321. Many believe Dante studied tuscan poetry while in school but it is
not known where and when he went to school. He is remembered as a very influential writer
who used Italian language rather than Latin. He was born into a family that was supposedly
involved deeply with the Florentine political scene which was a large influence on him and his
ideals which is evident throughout his works. Dante s mother had died when Dante was very
young. At just 12 years old, Dante had his marriage arranged with a woman who was a family
friend named Gemma Donati. The couple got married sometime around 1285, but there was just
one problem. Dante had proceeded to fall in love with another woman Beatrice Portinari, who
would become a huge significance to his life and especially his work, she was very influential to
him. Dante later went on and composed The New Life (La Vita Nuovo) using Beatrice as an ideal.
After the unexpected death of Beatrice, Dante became quite intrigued in studying philosophy and

are many more sides to him than you think. Initially, the Northeast Portico displays Thomas
Jeffersons deep appreciation for Architecture. Jefferson himself got the idea for this wall from
James Gibb s Book of Architecture. He used the book and designed a wall based on one of his
designs. The original blueprint was supposed to be used for an octagonal structure, and Jefferson

Next, his Mandan Buffalo Robe also shows his understanding of history and the arts. Most
painted robes were used as traditional clothing and articles of trade for Native Americans. Some
of these robes are painted with a scene usually a scene that the person receiving the robe fought
in. Meriwether Lewis and William Clark sent a package to Thomas Jefferson filled with seven
buffalo robes one that had a painted scene. Putting a piece from a famous expedition shows that
he is aware that he must preserve a piece of history so that s other can look back at this piece of
history. Thomas Jefferson understands the History and Arts very much, so his Entry Hall reflects
this part of him.
Jefferson s love of people and games are evident in the parlor room. The Parlor Room was filled
with many paintings of important figures and friends of Jefferson s. Benjamin Franklin, George
Washington, and Thomas Jefferson Randolph are just some of the many paintings included in
the parlor. He had used this room as a place to invite friends and colleagues to come over and
play games and have fun. Jefferson included many chairs, in this room to have lots of people over
and allow them to sit down whenever they would like too. The parlor room was often a place for
family weddings, dances, and christenings. A wedding is a cheerful ceremony between two families

William Blake And The French Revolution
Since the beginning of modern times, the world has seen an arrival of conservative values in
political theorists. Thomas J. J. Altizer believes radical theology is more silent than ever before
and that, although William Blake was universally considered to be a madman in his time, his
work as a poet and painter is widely recognised as a revolutionary visionary (Altizer, Pg. 33). It is
clear that, had the French Revolution not happened, Blake probably would have been a mere poet
and water colourist, with a turn to eccentricity. The French Revolution influenced many people all
over the globe, including the radicals in London, to push and demand for immediate change.
William Blake, a radical himself, was unable to stand by when the violation of rights and abuse
of power was rampant and as a result he produced his revolutionary collection of poems Songs of
Innocence and Songs of experience . Blake realised that some of his radical beliefs, that were
evident in his work, were certainly going to be unpopular but he was determined to evoke
immediate change by using his poetry as a weapon to force people to look at the world from many
perspectives.
The world in which Blake lived in was, for example; a world that thought to be proud in one s
achievements was sinful, or to give freely to the poor was frowned upon, as to do so might lead
them to become discontent with their lot. It is apparent that Blake was risking everything, ready to
appear before the world, preaching his

Essay on The Origins of Akhenaten
The Origins of Akhenaten
There is much that is known about Akhenaten the heretic pharaoh. More lies in speculation. Since
his time, the Amarna period is one the ancient Egyptians themselves wished to forget much about
Akhenaten remains unknown. What we do know is often confusing, different hypothesis piled
upon each other make it difficult to distinguish what is fact and what speculation.
We do know that Akhenaten, or Amenhotep IV, was the second son of Amenhotep III, an 18th
Dynasty pharaoh and his Queen Tiye. Although we know he had an older brother Thutmose and
several sisters, he was never shown in family portraits or records, the only documented proof we

Again, in some portraits of Akhenaten and his family usually during the early period of his reign,
his daughters and sometimes his wife Nefertiti are shown as sharing some of his deformities, his
daughters certainly are usually shown as having highly unusual head shapes . Since the shapes of
the heads of the princesses correspond with that of Tutankhamen s, it is possible that they really
were result of a genetic defect on Akhenaten part, though they were no doubt exaggerated.
Another factor supporting the theory that Akhenaten suffered from Marfan syndrome is the
unusually informal settings in which both Akhenaten s and Tutankhamen s families are portrayed.
The royal family is shown as always touching, images of Tutankhamen and his wife Ankhesenamen
also show the couple as always touching each other. This could quite possibly suggest that besides
being a close family, Akhenaten and Tutankhamen may have been blind to some degree, due to
ailments such as cataracts, iridodensis, detached retinas or glaucoma; all symptoms of Marfan s .
On the other hand, there may have been nothing wrong with Akhenaten, Tutankhamen, his
supposed son does have an irregularly shaped skull but it is not enough to be called abnormal. It is
indeed possible that the stylization of the pharaoh in this way was an artistic expression of the
religious changes taking place during the Amarna period.

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind provides a good example of the possibility of presenting
philosophical concepts in a fictional feature film. Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind is science
fiction based romantic and comedy film written by Charlie Kaufman and is directed by Michel
Gondry. The film is based on romance and mainly the scientific aspect to explore and flourish the
nature of the human memory. The film was presented to the viewers in March 2004. The film is
made closer to originality, something like troubling memories forgotten by the mind of the person
but still it is some where in memory. Sometimes we are concentrated on everlasting thoughts in our
minds when we are alone and making assumptions about matter, the film is based on such
phenomenon and is a great piece of art.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a movie primarily about two lovers namely Joel Barish

February 9, 1950 because McCarthy made McCarthyism which affected a lot of people. First this
is what happened with McCarthy s early years. McCarthy was born on November 14, 1908 in
Grand chute, WI. McCarthy attended Marquette University in Milwaukee. McCarthy earned his
law degree in 1935. McCarthy later became senator in 1946. He was also the youngest member of
the us senate. Throughout the 1940 s and 1950 s America was overwhelmed with the threat of
communism growing in Europe and China. In 1950 McCarthy gave a speech that propelled him
into the material spotlight. Also in 1950 congress passed the McCarran Internal Security act. In
1953 he married his wife Jean Fraser Kerr Minetti. They had an adopted child named Tierney
Elizabeth. Also in 1953 McCarthy began his second term of senator. McCarthy was reelected in
1952 and became chairman of the Senate s Committee on Government Operations, where he
occupied the spotlight for two years with his anti communist investigations and questioning of
suspected officials. McCarthy s charges led to testimony before the Senate Committee on Foreign

Different Characters In William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying
In William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying the story is told from different characters creating many
different perspectives. All though every character has a voice, they are not all created to
intelligent and sympathetic voices. Faulkner controls which characters we closely identify with
by the amount of time he devoted to the characters, the number of entries the person had and the
attitude that is given to these characters. The first deciding factor in which characters the reader
would closely identify with is how much time Faulkner devoted to each character. Some
characters in the book were meant to talk more and we were supposed to get more information
from them compared to others. Darl is a good example of this because his chapters are thoroughly
developed with complex sentences and better thought out ideas. Because of the voice that
Faulkner gave Darl, we easily connect to him and have a better sense of who he is as a character.
Not only is Darl one of the better educated children, he is also an omniscient narratorwhich enables
the reader hear a different perspective of the same event but from a character who isn t directly
experiencing that event. The opposite of Darl is Dewey Dell. Dewey Dell is not educated and does
not have strong sentence structure in her chapters which is how Faulkner controlled how easily we

The claim was that Major League Baseball could not operate with both interstate and intrastate
commerce. If considered interstate commerce, MLB s reserve clause would be a violation of the
Sherman Antitrust Act (1890), which deemed every contract, combination...or conspiracy illegal
that restrained trade or commerce among the several states. The goal was to ban monopolistic
practices that prevented competition (p. 20). In the 1922 court case Federal Baseball Club of
Baltimore, Inc v. National League of Professional Baseball Clubs, MLB and its operational
functions were found to be considered intrastate commerce. This verdict established Major League
Baseball s legal monopoly, which is today known as baseball s antitrust exemption. After a long
hard fought battle with the MLB, the Supreme Court ultimately ruled against Flood.
Although Curt Flood lost his fight for free agency, it was not considered a total loss due to the
development of the 10 and 5 rule. The 10 and 5 rule, is any player with 10 years of major league

Bone Voyage Summary
Stanley Rhine s Bone Voyage
The book Bone Voyage by Stanley Rhine describes, in stunning detail, the work of forensic
anthropologists. The author works for the New Mexico Office of Medical Investigations. The OMI
is in charge of investigating any death in New Mexico that is sudden, unnatural, untimely,
unattended, or suspicious deaths. They work together with multiple agencies in many different
jurisdictions. Bone Voyage gives a lifelike, almost sickly, reality to the important jobs dealt to
forensic anthropologists.
The field of forensic anthropology is relatively young, with roots in the 1960 s and 1970 s. Its
popularity continues to grow today, with TV shows like Bones and novels like Coroner at Large.
The work of a forensic anthropologist is important in a historical and medicolegal context.
Without the study of bones and death, lots of history would be lost forever, and murders would
go unsolved. The first trial in the United States to use forensic anthropologist techniques was the
Leutgert Sausage Trial in 1897. In this case a man who owned a sausage company was found with
residual human skeletal remains in his vats at the sausage factory. George Dorsey, Harvard alum,
identified the bones in the vat, and testified at trial. Although these techniques were not modern by
any means, it paved a way for forensic anthropology in the US legal system. Again the importance
of forensic anthropology was revealed during the outbreak of World War II. The

Introduction
Tata Nano has invented a car that has a couple of strong competitive advantages. The most
important advantage is that the car is relatively cheap and therefore affordable for more people
than regular cars like Volkswagen and Ford. But does this competitive advantage also apply for the
Dutch market? In the following market entry report this will be analyzed through a SWOT
Analysis. But first some background ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Status is an important aspect in Europe driving the cheapest car in the world might not be seen as a
good status symbol. Next to that, Tata Motors might know a lot about the Asian market. But the
European market is way different. Lack of market knowledge is a weakness by entering the
market, this could be fatal. Thereby a Tata Nano distribution channel still has to be developed in
Europe which will cost a lot of money and makes it hard to do business in the beginning.
Next to the businesswise weaknesses there are some practical weaknesses in the car too. The
fact that the Tata Nano does not have a modern facility like ABS, PS or AC for example. In
addition the car has less boot space than other regular brands. This makes it less attractive for tall
people to buy such a car. In general western people are taller than Asian people which might
cause a problem. Next to this, another practical problem is the fact that the car has no headlight
levelers. Headlight levelers might be seen as a luxury device, but these modern days all cars
have it. When someone is used to this kind of functions it can be a reason not to buy the car.
Thereby the car is not really fit for hilly areas. It is small and the engine is not powerful enough
to drive up to steep hills. People living in Austria, Suisse or areas of France and Spain will rather
buy a four wheel drive car than a Tata Nano. Another practical weakness is the Tata Nano s poor
fraction control. For a lot of people outstanding

Cheers To Ambiguity In Hitchcock s 1946 Notorious
Cheers to Ambiguity: Ambivalence, Intoxication and the Death Drive in Notorious Hitchcock s
1946 Notorious takes place in the morally ambiguous world of post World War II where the
questioning of alliances and moralities have reached a breaking point. Alicia, the daughter of an
incarcerated Nazi supporter, finds herself in the midst of a purgatory world stuck in between love
and hate, in other words one of ambivalence. This state of conflicting feelings of hatred and love
for the same individual lead to a world of uncertainty or irrationality where the lines of morality
only continue to be blurred. In other words, intoxication amidst this state is a driving force of the
storyline aimed to showcase the extremes of this desire of self destruction... Show more content on

The more we love the more we hate is the defining feature of ambivalence showing the
correlation between the two emotions that are in fact, contrary to popular belief, deeply
intertwined with one another. Therefore, to love someone must also imply a desire to despise
the one being loved. Ambivalence is the way we recognize that someone or something has
become significant to us .... wherever there is an object of desire there must be ambivalence .
These strong emotions are seen as a destroying force leading back to the desire of the death drive
that is seen As the essence of the instinctual that cannot be outrun. This meaning that it (the death
drive) binds every wish, whether aggressive or sexual, to the wish for death . Sebastian, a Nazi,
is so in love with Alicia, a potential American threat and the object of his desire, that he knowing
keeps pursuing her regardless of the implications that being with such a notorious woman could
only destroy him. When his love for her takes a dark turn after being initially enthralled by Alicia,
Sebastian by stating that You always affected me like a tonic bringing about the idea of intoxication
that love and hate blur the lines between them. When he learns of her true nature of being a spy his

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Breast Cancer
INTRODUCTION
BREAST cancer is currently the most common cancer affecting women worldwide [1]. In
European women, it is the leading cause of cancer death, causing one in six of all deaths from
cancers [2].In the U.S., a woman has a 12.15% (about one in eight) risk of developing breast cancer
during her lifetime[3].
Mammography is one of the most reliable and effective methods for detecting breast cancer at it
early stages [4]. In developed countries, population based mammography screening programs have
been implemented [1]. Women are encouraged to participatein regular breast examinations through
mammography. In the U.S., annual mammographic screening is recommended for women at
normal risk, beginning at age 40 [5]. In the U.K., women aged between ... Show more content on

First, for the approaches based on the shape/morphology of individual microcalcifications [7], [10],
informative features cannot be attained when microcalcifications are very small (occupying only a

small objects. Second, microcalcifications may have very low contrast with respect to the
surrounding tissue especially when microcalcifications form within dense tissue which has high
and homogeneous intensity. As such, the lack of useful texture information within the background
region affects the capability of the approaches based on the intensity variations and texture features

Policy Of Appeasement Research Paper
Evaluate the success of the policy of appeasement as followed by both Britain and France.
When Neville Chamberlain became British Prime Minister in 1937, a policy of appeasement
had already begun, Chamberlain adapted it as his own policy He would find out what Hitler
wanted and show him that reasonable claims could be met by negotiation rather than by force
(Lowe). The policy of appeasement s success is debatable. Although it can be accountable for
contributing to World War Two, it did delay a possible war that the Allied powers were not
prepared for. It is only with hindsight that it can be said that appeasement was unsuccessful as it
was purely justifiable at the time.
On the 16th of March Hitler made the announcement of German rearmament. ... Show more content

In adapting the policy Hitler gained confidence, in that his goal for Lebensraum would be reached
without great conflict. When nothing was done when Hitler announced rearmament of Nazi
Germany it opened the way for complete rearmament in preparation for War. Appeasement
allowed for Hitler to begin his plans leading up for World War Two giving him an advantage. In
the time the policy of appeasement was active Hitler had achieved rearmament, re occupation of the
Rhineland, gaining allies with Mussolini and General Franco who all had simular ideologies. Hitler
had also gained the Sudentland. Hitler and Nazi Germany gained all this with little resistance. It was
when Hitler invaded the rest of Czechoslovakia and threatened the invasion of Poland that
appeasement ended and war begun. Although this is only with Hindsight it would have been
impossible to predict Hitler s future moves.
It is widely recognised that the policy of appeasement was a success in delaying a possible war
between the Allies and the Axis powers. It was obvious that the Allies were not ready to fight a
war, both Britain and France were still facing economic and psychological problems from World
War One. The policy of appeasement gave Europe a fake peace while giving time for Britain and
France to rearm themselves and prepare for a possible war. The policy of appeasement was a
success in the sense it avoided a war that could have started earlier and gave the Allies much
needed time to rearm and

The Two Pieces Of Paintings
The two pieces of artworks from the list of sacred places I chose to compare were the Ziggurat
of Ur in Iraq and the Great Stupa in India. The first piece of Artwork was originally located in the
city of Ur, it is called the Ziggurat of Ur. The Ziggurat of Ur was built by the Sumerians. The
Sumerians were the first group of people in Mesopotamia, known as the cradle of civilization.
They invented the first form of writing known as cuneiform, along with the wheel. Sumerians
worshipped many Gods and Goddesses in temples or located in ziggurats (Gateways to Art,
2012, p.371). Ziggurats are known as Mesopotamian temples or pyramids that grew in size
toward the bottom, constructed from mud and bricks. The Ziggurats were man made mountains
which housed Gods and Goddesses. The Ziggurats of Ur happen to resemble the Egyptian
pyramids however they weren t produced to specifically to bury the decease. The authors of
Gateways to Art summarizes: The architectural design of the Ziggurats of Ur is mudbrick
structures made up of three stepped levels, accessed by stairways or ramps...the lowest level is
about 50ft. high and about 210 by 150 ft. in area, with others decreasing in size as they get closer
to the heavens...while the topmost platform is more than 100 ft. high (Dewitte, Larmann, Shields,
2012, p.565). The priest is the only person that has access to the top floor of the Ziggurat of Ur,
the priest evidently is not only the commissioner of the city but he s also the one who

Moral Development In The Chronicles Of Birnia
Every individual within a society develops morality, either independently or with the help of other
people. For an individual to grow morally, he or she needs knowledge or background information
in order to differentiate right from wrong. Moral psychology, is defined in the field of psychology,
as the study of the development of the moral sense (Britannica Moral psychology). In other words,
it is the capacity for forming judgments about what is morally right or wrong, good or bad.
Psychologist Lawrence Kohlberg hypothesized an individual s development of moral standards
progresses through various levels. The early level, the child utilizes physical experiences such as
pleasure or pain, as the source for moral decisions. At this level, the child s... Show more content on

However, consider the possibility that the stakes are significantly higher. Imagine a scenario
where the life in danger isn t your own, but someone else s. This is the circumstance Digory
finds himself in, approaching the finish of a long journey he spent looking for a cure for his
mom, who is at death s door. Digory agreed to complete a mission from Aslan, promising to bring
back an enchanted apple that will secure Narnia, for a while, from the shrewdness he had brought
into it. Having a sick but present mother, Digory still made mistakes in his journey. Even though he
was responsible for releasing Jadis, who almost destroyed Aslan s creation, he showed character and

Essay about Jane Addams
An American pragmatist and feminist, Hull House founder Jane Addams (1860 1935) came of age
in time of increasing tensions and division between segments of the American society, a division
that was reflected in debates about educational reform. In the midst of this diversity, Addams saw
the profoundly interdependent nature of all social and political interaction, and she aligned her
efforts to support, emphasize and increase this interdependence. Education was one of the ways
she relied on to overcome class disparity, as well as to increase interaction between classes. Her
theories about the interdependent nature of living in a democracy provided a backdrop for her
educational theory. Education, she thought, needed to produce people who... Show more content on

They have no common, collective faith. The labor movement in America displays this mark of
its youth and immaturity (Addams 61). In the same tone, she believed that the working class
and capitalists were not warring classes, but part of the same democratic society. The character
of American unions was predicted by Addams to be limited and disappointing. She supported the
workers goals of a shorter workday, increased wages, better industrial and general education, and
worker protection in the marketplace, but qualified her support when she wrote that the
movement does not want to lose sight of the end in securing the means, nor assume success, nor
even necessarily the beginnings of success, when these first aim are attained (Addams 62).
Addams saw the definition of society as warring classes as one that damned society as a whole.
The literal notion of brotherhood demanded a beginning of universal kinship: before this larger
vision of life there can be no perception of sides and battle array (Addams 64). Labor unions
became, in fact, the tools of capitalists by reducing their talks to single industry issues. Addams
clearly did not support the Marxist vision of labor, although she frequently read writers adopting
this perspective. As a pragmatist, Addams advocated a number of laws to protect the worker,
especially women workers, which

  • 2. Theories Of Psychology The first theories talked about within chapter 4 are the inferiority and superiority complex theories developed by Alfred. The infinity feelings are the source of all human striving, and is normal among us all. It is brought about as soon as we are born, as we must compensate for our lack of size or independence. The greatest example I can give of the inferiority feeling happened two days ago with the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. The more helpless children feel, the less they dare to rebel against their parents. She also dwelled on anxiety which she called basic anxiety. Basic anxiety is a pervasive feeling of loneliness and helplessness, that becomes the foundation for neurosis. In childhood we try to protect ourselves against basic anxiety by securing affection, being submissive, attaining power, and by withdrawing. These self protective mechanisms serve the one goal of defending basic anxiety. Karen also developed a list of ten neurotic needs. A neurotic need is an irrational defense against anxiety that becomes a permanent part of personality and affects behavior. • 5. Dna And Biological Instructions For The Development,... Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is an extensive molecule that contains genetic material that makes up almost all living organisms including plants, animals, and even some viruses. This genetic material or genetic code in DNA is composed of biological instructions that are responsible for the development, survival, and reproduction of organisms. Information stored in DNAis made of four chemical bases or building blocks, adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T) which come together to form pairs in molecules: Adenine to Thymine, and Cytosine to Guanine. Humans have billions of these base pairs within their bodies. These pairs separate to form into paired packages that resemble X s called chromosomes that are made of structure of nucleic acids and protein stored in the nucleus of cells (National Human Genome Research Institute, 2015). The DNA in cells contains structural proteins (responsible for the structure, function, and regulation of the body s tissues and organs) and endoenzyme or intracellular enzymes (that control cytoplmic and nuclear activities) called genes. Genes operate as a list of instructions for molecules and are in control of the promotion of reproduction within the cell. All organisms are different from one another and have a unique combination of traits. However, many organisms share similarities, like when a child (offspring) has similar features or characteristics, like height or having brown hair like their parents. This is because hereditary ... It is an example people in general should follow. The quote is saying, if you do a good job on something, like an assignment or a task, you should waste your time seizing the moment for too long. If you did well on that one thing, you can do something great on something else. Continue that cycle and you ll do great all the time. But since 2012, the number has increased by at least 500 public schools now offering single sex educational opportunities. Single sex schools benefit students as they achieve better marks and test scores compared to co ed schools. The academic achievement made by students in single sex schools broadens when girls and boys are separated from the opposite sex due to distractions, gender differences, and learning environment. Single sex schools can be educational than co ed school because boys are less attracted by girls and girls are also less obsessed with the boys. Therefore, students may pay more attention in class without the distractions from the opposite sex. Single sex educationhas a delightful way of encouraging students to be fearless, curious, enthusiastic, and to simply be themselves. Firstly, there is less pressure to act cool around friends of other sex. Secondly, there is less conflict between friends of the opposite sex. Thirdly is more relaxed attitude such as not putting on a show for boys or girls they like. The advent of the Industrial Revolution in the late 1700s and the introduction of capitalism sparked the discussion on the nature and role of women as society shifted from a land centered economy to an urban workforce. This argument gained such notoriety it commonly became known as The WomanQuestion, and it covered aspects of the legal and political rights of women, education, and economic opportunities. British philosopher Herbert Spencer suggested everyone had basic rights, including women, and that these rights were necessary for social progress and those basic rights fell in with cooperation among the sexes rather than competition (Sweet). Similarly, Patrick Geddes, a Scottish biologist and follower of Spencer, theorized that male and female characteristics were complementary and must be kept in balance. While reading the story of Henrietta Lacks, I consistently had to remind myself that times were different. Doctors did not necessarily intend to harm their patients in any way, however it is impossible not to feel pity for Henrietta, her family, and any others who were mistreated simply due to the ignorance of the times. One of the noticeable recurrent themes of this story was the paternalistic doctor patient relationship. There were multiple occasions in which Day mentioned how he simply trusted the doctors to do what was right. He and Henrietta assumed doctors understood their patients needs better than the patients themselves, and therefore never asked questions. My understanding is that this was a common mentality at the time. I imagine this mentality was especially prominent among less fortunate classes of people who did not have the means to understand what their doctors were telling them. In cases in which harm befell patients, the doctor patient relationship was likely a primary culprit. Doctors had a paternalistic attitude, and therefore did not excel at communicating with their patients, specifically at a level that was appropriate to the given situation. Adding to the problem, patients did not ask questions, simply because they did not know they had the option to do so. The opportunity to observe a classic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Prior to RIAA s recent legal efforts, individual file sharers were almost completely immune from legal liability when violating copyright law. These recent legal developments have considerably altered that perceived notion (Graham 2003; Lichtman 2003). (culturegrams.com) One of their greatest accomplishments in Honduras was the city of Copan, a city that was abandoned by the Maya people, and eventually became a colonist magnet for the area when imperialism in Spain took off. Honduras was first inhabited by Spaniards after Christopher Columbuslanded on the Northern Coast of Honduras under the control of the Spanish King and Queen in 1592. Explorers such as Henry Cortez and CristГіbal de Olid explored the country and formed colonies. (nationsonline.com) Around this time imperialism already began to affect the native people already there. The formation of colonies caused conflicts as the nationalistic and racist ideas the Europeans had were harmful and inconsiderate of the native peoples ways. An example of this was the battle at Comayagua between the Lenca Indians and the Spanish settlers. This battle was fought by the Lenca Indians in an attempt to stop further expansion of the Spanish ways and exploitation of their native culture. The arrival of the Spaniards and their colonization set the scene for a slippery slope of imperialism s negative effects that were to come. Fast forward to 1821, when Central America gained their independence from Spain. When they were granted independence Spain was in shambles to due to France successfully taking over in 1813. The use of cochlear implants has become a very controversial topic within the deaf community. My question was inspired by the sources Why Is Dancing So Good for Your Brain and from Mapping the Bilingual Brain . Both sources mentioned sign language, which made me think about the debate over whether deaf people should receive a cochlear implantor communicate solely through sign language. The first single channel cochlear implant was introduced in 1972 as an electrical device that provides a sense of hearing to those that are profoundly deaf or severely hard of hearing (Tallungan). • 32. William Blake And The French Revolution Since the beginning of modern times, the world has seen an arrival of conservative values in political theorists. Thomas J. J. Altizer believes radical theology is more silent than ever before and that, although William Blake was universally considered to be a madman in his time, his work as a poet and painter is widely recognised as a revolutionary visionary (Altizer, Pg. 33). It is clear that, had the French Revolution not happened, Blake probably would have been a mere poet and water colourist, with a turn to eccentricity. The French Revolution influenced many people all over the globe, including the radicals in London, to push and demand for immediate change. William Blake, a radical himself, was unable to stand by when the violation of rights and abuse of power was rampant and as a result he produced his revolutionary collection of poems Songs of Innocence and Songs of experience . Blake realised that some of his radical beliefs, that were evident in his work, were certainly going to be unpopular but he was determined to evoke immediate change by using his poetry as a weapon to force people to look at the world from many perspectives. The world in which Blake lived in was, for example; a world that thought to be proud in one s achievements was sinful, or to give freely to the poor was frowned upon, as to do so might lead them to become discontent with their lot. Again, in some portraits of Akhenaten and his family usually during the early period of his reign, his daughters and sometimes his wife Nefertiti are shown as sharing some of his deformities, his daughters certainly are usually shown as having highly unusual head shapes . Since the shapes of the heads of the princesses correspond with that of Tutankhamen s, it is possible that they really were result of a genetic defect on Akhenaten part, though they were no doubt exaggerated. Another factor supporting the theory that Akhenaten suffered from Marfan syndrome is the unusually informal settings in which both Akhenaten s and Tutankhamen s families are portrayed. The royal family is shown as always touching, images of Tutankhamen and his wife Ankhesenamen also show the couple as always touching each other. This could quite possibly suggest that besides being a close family, Akhenaten and Tutankhamen may have been blind to some degree, due to ailments such as cataracts, iridodensis, detached retinas or glaucoma; all symptoms of Marfan s . On the other hand, there may have been nothing wrong with Akhenaten, Tutankhamen, his supposed son does have an irregularly shaped skull but it is not enough to be called abnormal. All though every character has a voice, they are not all created to intelligent and sympathetic voices. Faulkner controls which characters we closely identify with by the amount of time he devoted to the characters, the number of entries the person had and the attitude that is given to these characters. The first deciding factor in which characters the reader would closely identify with is how much time Faulkner devoted to each character. Some characters in the book were meant to talk more and we were supposed to get more information from them compared to others. Darl is a good example of this because his chapters are thoroughly developed with complex sentences and better thought out ideas. Because of the voice that Faulkner gave Darl, we easily connect to him and have a better sense of who he is as a character. The goal was to ban monopolistic practices that prevented competition (p. 20). In the 1922 court case Federal Baseball Club of Baltimore, Inc v. The author works for the New Mexico Office of Medical Investigations. The OMI is in charge of investigating any death in New Mexico that is sudden, unnatural, untimely, unattended, or suspicious deaths. They work together with multiple agencies in many different jurisdictions. Bone Voyage gives a lifelike, almost sickly, reality to the important jobs dealt to forensic anthropologists. The field of forensic anthropology is relatively young, with roots in the 1960 s and 1970 s. Its popularity continues to grow today, with TV shows like Bones and novels like Coroner at Large. The work of a forensic anthropologist is important in a historical and medicolegal context. Without the study of bones and death, lots of history would be lost forever, and murders would go unsolved. The first trial in the United States to use forensic anthropologist techniques was the Leutgert Sausage Trial in 1897. In this case a man who owned a sausage company was found with residual human skeletal remains in his vats at the sausage factory. George Dorsey, Harvard alum, identified the bones in the vat, and testified at trial. Thereby a Tata Nano distribution channel still has to be developed in Europe which will cost a lot of money and makes it hard to do business in the beginning. Next to the businesswise weaknesses there are some practical weaknesses in the car too. The fact that the Tata Nano does not have a modern facility like ABS, PS or AC for example. In European women, it is the leading cause of cancer death, causing one in six of all deaths from cancers [2].In the U.S., a woman has a 12.15% (about one in eight) risk of developing breast cancer during her lifetime[3]. Mammography is one of the most reliable and effective methods for detecting breast cancer at it early stages [4]. In developed countries, population based mammography screening programs have been implemented [1]. Women are encouraged to participatein regular breast examinations through mammography. In the U.S., annual mammographic screening is recommended for women at normal risk, beginning at age 40 [5]. In the U.K., women aged between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, for the approaches based on the shape/morphology of individual microcalcifications [7], [10], informative features cannot be attained when microcalcifications are very small (occupying only a few pixels) so that it seems meaningless to analyze the shape/morphological properties of such small objects. Second, microcalcifications may have very low contrast with respect to the surrounding tissue especially when microcalcifications form within dense tissue which has high and homogeneous intensity. As such, the lack of useful texture information within the background region affects the capability of the approaches based on the intensity variations and texture features [8], [27]. In addition, for the approaches describing the spatial distribution of microcalcifications within a cluster, the global ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Policy Of Appeasement Research Paper Evaluate the success of the policy of appeasement as followed by both Britain and France. When Neville Chamberlain became British Prime Minister in 1937, a policy of appeasement had already begun, Chamberlain adapted it as his own policy He would find out what Hitler wanted and show him that reasonable claims could be met by negotiation rather than by force (Lowe). The policy of appeasement s success is debatable. Although it can be accountable for contributing to World War Two, it did delay a possible war that the Allied powers were not prepared for. It is only with hindsight that it can be said that appeasement was unsuccessful as it was purely justifiable at the time. On the 16th of March Hitler made the announcement of German rearmament. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In adapting the policy Hitler gained confidence, in that his goal for Lebensraum would be reached without great conflict. When nothing was done when Hitler announced rearmament of Nazi Germany it opened the way for complete rearmament in preparation for War. Appeasement allowed for Hitler to begin his plans leading up for World War Two giving him an advantage. In the time the policy of appeasement was active Hitler had achieved rearmament, re occupation of the Rhineland, gaining allies with Mussolini and General Franco who all had simular ideologies. Hitler had also gained the Sudentland. Hitler and Nazi Germany gained all this with little resistance. It was when Hitler invaded the rest of Czechoslovakia and threatened the invasion of Poland that appeasement ended and war begun. Although this is only with Hindsight it would have been impossible to predict Hitler s future moves. It is widely recognised that the policy of appeasement was a success in delaying a possible war between the Allies and the Axis powers. It was obvious that the Allies were not ready to fight a war, both Britain and France were still facing economic and psychological problems from World War One. The policy of appeasement gave Europe a fake peace while giving time for Britain and France to rearm themselves and prepare for a possible war. The policy of appeasement was a success in the sense it avoided a war that could have started earlier and gave the Allies much needed time to rearm and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Two Pieces Of Paintings The two pieces of artworks from the list of sacred places I chose to compare were the Ziggurat of Ur in Iraq and the Great Stupa in India. The first piece of Artwork was originally located in the city of Ur, it is called the Ziggurat of Ur. The Ziggurat of Ur was built by the Sumerians. The Sumerians were the first group of people in Mesopotamia, known as the cradle of civilization. They invented the first form of writing known as cuneiform, along with the wheel. Sumerians worshipped many Gods and Goddesses in temples or located in ziggurats (Gateways to Art, 2012, p.371). Ziggurats are known as Mesopotamian temples or pyramids that grew in size toward the bottom, constructed from mud and bricks. The Ziggurats were man made mountains which housed Gods and Goddesses. The Ziggurats of Ur happen to resemble the Egyptian pyramids however they weren t produced to specifically to bury the decease. The authors of Gateways to Art summarizes: The architectural design of the Ziggurats of Ur is mudbrick structures made up of three stepped levels, accessed by stairways or ramps...the lowest level is about 50ft. high and about 210 by 150 ft. in area, with others decreasing in size as they get closer to the heavens...while the topmost platform is more than 100 ft. high (Dewitte, Larmann, Shields, 2012, p.565). The priest is the only person that has access to the top floor of the Ziggurat of Ur, the priest evidently is not only the commissioner of the city but he s also the one who ... • 46. Moral Development In The Chronicles Of Birnia Every individual within a society develops morality, either independently or with the help of other people. For an individual to grow morally, he or she needs knowledge or background information in order to differentiate right from wrong. Moral psychology, is defined in the field of psychology, as the study of the development of the moral sense (Britannica Moral psychology). In other words, it is the capacity for forming judgments about what is morally right or wrong, good or bad. Psychologist Lawrence Kohlberg hypothesized an individual s development of moral standards progresses through various levels. The early level, the child utilizes physical experiences such as pleasure or pain, as the source for moral decisions. At this level, the child s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, consider the possibility that the stakes are significantly higher. Imagine a scenario where the life in danger isn t your own, but someone else s. This is the circumstance Digory finds himself in, approaching the finish of a long journey he spent looking for a cure for his mom, who is at death s door. Digory agreed to complete a mission from Aslan, promising to bring back an enchanted apple that will secure Narnia, for a while, from the shrewdness he had brought into it. Having a sick but present mother, Digory still made mistakes in his journey. Even though he was responsible for releasing Jadis, who almost destroyed Aslan s creation, he showed character and maturity accepting and completing Aslan s task in order to redeem himself. He developed morally by understanding the consequences and taking responsibility for his actions, and helping to bring the solution for the chaos he brought thinking about others ( Role taking ... • 47. Essay about Jane Addams An American pragmatist and feminist, Hull House founder Jane Addams (1860 1935) came of age in time of increasing tensions and division between segments of the American society, a division that was reflected in debates about educational reform. In the midst of this diversity, Addams saw the profoundly interdependent nature of all social and political interaction, and she aligned her efforts to support, emphasize and increase this interdependence. Education was one of the ways she relied on to overcome class disparity, as well as to increase interaction between classes. Her theories about the interdependent nature of living in a democracy provided a backdrop for her educational theory. Education, she thought, needed to produce people who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have no common, collective faith. The labor movement in America displays this mark of its youth and immaturity (Addams 61). In the same tone, she believed that the working class and capitalists were not warring classes, but part of the same democratic society. The character of American unions was predicted by Addams to be limited and disappointing. She supported the workers goals of a shorter workday, increased wages, better industrial and general education, and worker protection in the marketplace, but qualified her support when she wrote that the movement does not want to lose sight of the end in securing the means, nor assume success, nor even necessarily the beginnings of success, when these first aim are attained (Addams 62). Addams saw the definition of society as warring classes as one that damned society as a whole. The literal notion of brotherhood demanded a beginning of universal kinship: before this larger vision of life there can be no perception of sides and battle array (Addams 64). Labor unions became, in fact, the tools of capitalists by reducing their talks to single industry issues. Addams clearly did not support the Marxist vision of labor, although she frequently read writers adopting this perspective. As a pragmatist, Addams advocated a number of laws to protect the worker, especially women workers, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
