Production Evaluation 7
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do
you feel you have learnt in the progression from
it to the full product?
• I have found that the way in which I conducted research changed
from the start of my task to the end. I developed better skills in
finding out information from various sources and presenting it in
various ways. Additionally, the way I analyze this research has also
changed and I am now able to read into information a lot more to use
to my advantage when producing a product.
• Time management has been difficult for me as we are supposed to be
in teams of 4 whereas I elected to go on my own. This has meant that
I have met deadlines by the very finest of margins, I have learnt that
doing work little and often is the best way to approach the work and
allows you sufficient time to do it to a high standard.
• I now have a good idea of how the genre conventions can be applied
to my own work and how they make the genre what it is. This allowed
me to apply this understanding to my opening sequence giving it a
professional look. Moreover it meant that I could use stereotypical
conventions to my advantage to produce an obvious horror
introduction scene.
• I have also learnt that the many techniques e.g. Mise En Scene,
lighting, sound etc. can be developed. I now understand the
importance of these micro features and how to apply them for your
use in a scene. This has meant that I could develop a more
professional looking video and one which follows conventions.
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do
you feel you have learnt in the progression from
it to the full product?
• Through evaluating my own work I feel I would've been more critical
than someone else would have been. This is because I am a harsher
critic of my work as I know where I have cut corners and so on.
Finally, evaluating my work has allowed me to reflect on the choices
and improvements I can apply to A2 and help me develop my
understanding even further.
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do
you feel you have learnt in the progression from
it to the full product?
Impact of knowledge:
• The knowledge I gained from doing a preliminary task greatly
benefitted me whilst making my production as I have learnt from my
feedback. I have now learnt various camera angles for example and
how to put together clips to make a scene with depth and character.
• In the long term I strongly believe that this knowledge will have aided
my success because I now have a better understanding of how to use
various technologies within the media world and have truly become a
prosumer.
