2. WHAT BRIEF WERE YOU WORKING
TO TWO PROJECTS?
In the preliminary exercise We we asked to make a short film, no
more than a couple minutes, that was for us to practice continuity.
We had to film specifically: a character opening a door, going through
the room to sit across from another character, and then they had to
have a small conversation. The use of this task was for us to practice
match on action, the 180 degree rule, and shot reverse shot.
The main task however was a 2-3 minute long film that would be the
title and opening of a whole film which allowed us to let the film be
open ended, and would prove difficult but give us flexibility.

3. WHAT DID WE LEARN IN THE
PRELIMINARY?
The preliminary task taught us how to do multiple things we used in
the full project:
• We learnt how to use the cameras that were standard for the project,
and learn the basics of how to use them, as well as transfer footage
to the computers
• How to use Adobe Premiere Pro, and how learning the basics of the
program. We learnt things such as cutting and basic transitions.
• The main thing we learnt was how to properly frame and film so that
we wouldn’t break match on action, continuity, the 180 degree line,
etc. This helped us to frame shots so that they not only made sense
but simply looked better.
• It also showed us how we all work in a group, and so we could assign
roles in the main project.

4. WHAT HAVE YOU GOT BETTER AT?
From our preliminary to our full project, we got a lot
better at pre-production, and we’ve learnt how to
properly plan out a film and execute it. We’re also a lot
better at working under pressure and to a proper
deadline. We’re also a lot better at working and
encountering problems, because we can easily get
over them as a group using critical thinking.
