FRONT PAGE
The font style I used in my masthead appeals to my target audience because it’s a distressed,
distorted sans serif font style, which helps it appeal to a younger, rebellious target audience.
The font style I used in my scrap line also appeals to my target audience because again it’s very
distressed and quite rough, which would help it appeal to again a much younger, rebellious target
audience.
The font style I used for the cover story works well with the name of the band ‘Black Acid’
because it looks like dripping acid, and again it’s very distressed and rough looking, which helps it
appeal to that more rebellious target audience.
The colour scheme I used for the magazine also helps appeal to my target audience as I used
quite dark and murky colours, like the red, dingy yellow, black, greens, etc. These help appeal to
my target audience because red is quite an aggressive colour, black is a conventional cover which
is normally associated with rock music, making it easier the audience and consumers to recognize
the magazine and its genre.
The images I used for my front page appeal to my target audience because the people in the
images are roughly the same age as my target audience. Also the costume I used relates closely
to the genre because people who listen to or like rock music normally wear similar clothes.
The language would appeal to the target audience is aggressive, for example the name of my
magazine is ‘Clash!’ which is quite aggressive, and signifies aggression. I also use a lot of band
names which would help it appeal to the target audience as they’d recognise the band names
and want to read about them.
CONTENTS PAGE
The font style I used for my heading is appealing to my target audience because I’ve used the same font style
which I used on my front cover, which creates consistency and a house style.
The font style I used for my sub-headings also appeals to my target audience because I used quite a modern,
distressed looking font which again helps appeal to my target audience as it will appeal to younger people.
The images I used for my contents helps appeal to my target audience as the setting is quite rebellious with the
graffiti. Also the costume I used helps appeal strongly as one of the girls is wearing a ‘Ramones’ jumper which is
a very well known rock band, and the other girl is wearing a darkly coloured checkered shirt. Also the girls are
both similar ages to the target audience, helping it appeal to a younger audience, and also the picture of the
editor is again an age similar to the target audience, again helping it appeal to a younger audience.
The language I used is quite informal in the editors letter which helps it appeal to younger people, for example
‘sat down with the legends of rock and pulled their insides out’.
The colour I used helps appeal to the target audience because I’ve used the same colours consistently, which
help creates a house style, which creates a brand identity for the magazine and helps make it recognizable.
DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD
The font style I used for my headline is quite uneven and distorted, which helps
make it create a sense of unpredictability, which again will help appeal to a more
young, rebellious target audience.
The font style I used for my headings are also quite distorted and pushed together,
which makes it look quite messy and uneven, again, appealing to a more young,
rebellious target audience.
The font style I used for the main article is quite plain, and again sans serif, so it
makes it more appealing for the audience to read.
The image I used helps appeal to the target audience as it uses a graffiti
background again, and I also included a prop which is a bass guitar, making it
recognizable for the audience, and also used quite dark and rock looking costume,
which again appeals to a more younger and rebellious audience.
The colours I used also help appeal to the target audience is very consistent
throughout the magazine, making it more appealing and creating a brand
identity, I also introduced a dark grey, which adds a bit of variety, but still sticks
with the dark colour scheme.
The language I used helps appeal to the target audience also because the pull-
quote interests the audience, as they will want to know what happened to the
band.
In the article I also used informal and colloquial language which again will
appeal to a much younger and rebellious audience.

The language would appeal to the target audience is aggressive, for example the name of my magazine is ‘Clash!’ which is quite aggressive, and signifies aggression. I also use a lot of band names which would help it appeal to the target audience as they’d recognise the band names and want to read about them.

The images I used for my contents helps appeal to my target audience as the setting is quite rebellious with the graffiti. Also the costume I used helps appeal strongly as one of the girls is wearing a ‘Ramones’ jumper which is a very well known rock band, and the other girl is wearing a darkly coloured checkered shirt. Also the girls are both similar ages to the target audience, helping it appeal to a younger audience, and also the picture of the editor is again an age similar to the target audience, again helping it appeal to a younger audience. The language I used is quite informal in the editors letter which helps it appeal to younger people, for example ‘sat down with the legends of rock and pulled their insides out’. The colour I used helps appeal to the target audience because I’ve used the same colours consistently, which help creates a house style, which creates a brand identity for the magazine and helps make it recognizable.
