IPC would be well-suited to distribute the author's rap/hip-hop magazine as they are the UK's leading magazine publisher and reach over 25 million users monthly on their website. Retailers like HMV and WH Smith that attract a wide audience and sell more than just magazines could also distribute the magazine. Creating a Facebook page for the magazine could help promote it and gauge popularity and audience demographics based on how many people like the page.
1. Question 3
What kind of media institution might
distribute your media product and
why?
2. My music genre is rap/hip-hop, I did a small amount of research into these
magazines and they fall into a wide range of magazine categories. Like my magazine
they all seem to be more targeted to younger people, and they are also the majority
that buy them.
IPC is the leading magazine consumer and digital producer, there website reaches
over 25 million global users month by month. IPC could be a clear possibility of who
could distribute my media product as they are the UK’s leading magazine consumer.
For my target audience and genre of my magazine shops such as HMV & WH
Smith, they attract a very wide audience and they sell much more than just
magazines. My magazine would be suitable to be sold in supermarkets such as
ASDA, Tesco, Sainsbury's, and there parents could even buy them for them.
Another way my magazine could be distributed/promoted is social networking sites
e.g. Facebook & twitter, one possibility would be to create a Facebook page for my
magazine and people would like it – by how many likes I get I will be able to see
how popular it becomes and which audiences buy my magazine.
