1) The document discusses promotional products created for a grime music duo called Frank X Fabz, including a digipak, website, and music video.
2) A key concept across all products was showing the clash of past and present using black and white imagery. This theme is shown on the digipak cover and throughout the music video when the artists rap about their history.
3) The website was designed to promote the artists and give audiences a sense of who they are by sharing pictures from their background and urban locations important to them.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Digital Artifact 2 - Investigating Pavilion Designs
Question 2
1. HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE
COMBIANTION OF YOUR
MAIN PRODUCT AND
ANCILLARY TEXTS?
2. WHAT DID YOU DO FOR EACH
PRODUCT?
Our finalised music video has a key relation to our ancillary texts. The digipak has had
a merge between past and present with Frank X Fabz being in the present on the
digipak but the colour of Black And White shows the past.
For our promotional package we formed a Digipak, Website and music video for our
Grime Duo ‘Frank X Fabz’.
Our targeted audience range but we decided that internet users were commonly the
people that contributed to a heavier fan base so aimed for digital promotional
products.
Our website focused heavily on promoting the artists and allowing the audience to get
a better feeling of who the artists were and where they were coming from.
Our digipak conformed to the codes and conventions of grime as the font is broken
down creating a graffiti impression which links to the urban nature.
6. CONCEPT
As our duo is named ‘Frank X Fabz’ we decided to show a concept that will link across all our ancillary
products. The idea was to have black/white featured throughout all products signifying the clash of both the
past and the present which is revealed in the music video when the artists rap about their previous
encounters in urban London. This took a toll in our music video as the theme is displayed across everything
and has a clear link.
Whilst researching into the grime genre earlier into the year we discovered a theme that was brought across
the entire grime genre was the urban nature present across the videos. This is when we realised that the
symbolism of this appeals to young people growing up in societies around urban cultures in Britain as
whole, not only London. Artists such as gigs, Skepta and a new rapper to the genre ‘Fredo’ influenced our
choices in what we were going to make.
7.
8. DIGIPAK
In our digipak we focused heavily on creating a subliminal message of the past
clashing with the present which was done by the filter black/white. This allowed
us to show our audience the context of the music and highlights the clear link
from the music to the visuals.
Whilst creating the cover for our digipak we looked into different location
scouting that will match our desired digipak. Through this we chose to create a
blurry digipak which is shown clearly; to do this we used our school projector
and put it on standby so a crackling image appears on the whiteboard which
allowed us to take a variety of different shots that play a brilliant touch in
unison.
9. DIGIPAK
CONTINUED
In this digipak cover, the estates signifies the theme of the album. This shows a
key guideline that the artists have overcome a long journey to get to there
desires.
The album cover highlights the connotations of 'rags to riches' and signifies the
drive to adventure directly where you want to be in life even if the road is
dangerous and consists of different obstacles 'always chase your dream'. Overall
the use of both artists using unison of themselves facing away whilst fabz looks
towards the camera also shows that they are looking back to what they had to go
through.
The breaking of the font in the digipak signifies the urban nature of the grime
genre as this also links to Andrew Goodwin's theory of Lyrics that match to
visuals, with the title ‘roads’ being matched to the visuals of estates and
impermeable surfaces.
10. WEBSIT
E
Throughout our music video we decided that we needed to conform to the codes
and conventions of the grime genre.
We chose to bring in different media platforms to build our audience base, this
involved creating a Instagram page for our artists which has been a massive
way for grime artists to gain a fan base.
As a group we took to the roads to find different locations that we were able to
build for our gallery. A specific spot in hackney wick had a lot of graffiti which we
used to take some pictures for our website and this contributed to our location
scouting.
As a duo we decided that it’ll be unique if we used the duo in unison even though
this occurs a lot In the grime genre.
11. WEBSITE
CONTINUED Furthermore we created a logo for our website which we took into
consideration whilst exploring other real media texts around the genre.
Artists such as Fredo have also looked into making revenue from
merchandise and is a start for a grime artist promoting independent
companies in their official music videos.
The website also allows the audience to choose what they specifically
want for example a phone case, jumper, etc. This by itself is a whole
different industry the artist breaks into.
Throughout the website pages you can see a clear image of both artists
as they change positions across all the pages.

14. OVERALL
In conclusion as a group and individually I am very pleased with my
overall finished products, we aimed for our desired ancillary products
and we fulfilled this to the best of our ability.
Initially we went through the struggle of thinking how our ancillary
products will show a clear link throughout. Once noted that in the past
we can use the black and white filter to be displayed across them all;
the digipak, the website and the music video. We chose to feature our
artists in the official music video in order to connect closer to Andrew
Goodwin's theory of relation and building an artists star persona.
