It is really important to choose the right media
institution for my product. It is important because you
need to be with a media institution that uses the
correct demographics in order for your media
product to be distributed in the most efficient way
possible. By using demographics, the media
institution ensures that your media product is being
shown in the areas or regions that are most likely to
watch it.
Choosing the right media institution
for my product:
After researching multiple distribution companies
such as 20th Century Fox and Lionsgate, I have
decided that I think the most appropriate distribution
company for my finished film opening product would
be Sony Pictures (Released).
Who I would choose?
I would choose Sony Pictures for a variety of different
reasons. They distribute a variety of genres including
romance. This is important for me as they would
know the best way to distribute my film. This would
mean that it would most likely be distributed
according to the correct demographics would be best
appropriate. Sony Pictures is also successful company
who have distributed films that have been a huge hit
with their targeted audience and have made both
small and large profits in the UK.
Why I would choose them:
I think that Sony Pictures would distribute my product
because it is similar to previous films they have dealt
with. It is similar to other romance films in terms of
common conventions. This similarity means that they
would have a better chance at being successful when
distributing my product. Their distributed films have
been varied in order to attract the audience and I
think that my storyline is slightly different to the
previous ones they have distributed, so they might be
interested in it.
