2. PREVIOUS FILMS
Research other films similar to the one you are going to create. Look
at who their target audience is and base yours on it.
Look at the BBFC ratings of the films, and have explore the factors
that are included in each age rating, such as scenes of a sexual
nature and extreme violence.
Think about whether or not your narrative includes any factors that
may be offensive or inappropriate for certain ages, and from that you
can base your target audience around the ratings.
3. MAINSTREAM OR
INDEPENDENT?
Is your film going to be distributed by a mainstream or independent
company, because if it is going to be independent, it is likely to have
a niche audience.
The USP (Unique Selling Point) can be used to target an audience that
is interested in that particular factor.
However, if your film is mainstream, then you’ll be able to reach out
to a larger target audience, as this will enable you to have better
facilities to reach a global audience through both push and pull
marketing.
