Common conventions found within romance films:
Happy ever after.
Affection.
Narration.
Two main characters - usually male and female, quite young.
Love at first sight.
Argument/conflict.
Sexual attraction.
• After looking at the conventions of a romance film, I have decided
the conventions I will be going to use within opening are:
• Narration.
• Two main characters - usually male and female, quite young.
• Love at first sight.
4. My Film
• 3 potential ideas:
-1. Time Never Stops.
-2. Love Never Dies.
-3. Lost In Time.
• I have chosen to call my film ‘Love Never Dies’.
• Why? – Because the storyline is based on a widow who lost her
husband during the war.
• Production company – New Line film Cinema because it has
released some romance films that have been successful. This
includes the film ‘The Notebook’ which become very successful and
a known film produced by New Line Film Cinema.
6. Message within opening
• When the old woman is narrating while she is sitting
in the living room, an important message is spoken
about in order to connect with the younger
audience.
• The narration speaks directly to the audience and
refers to how precious time is and therefore allows
for evaluation of the audience’s own lives. This
therefore gets them thinking about time and their
loved ones and makes the film reach out to them.
