5. RANDALL RENAL CALCULUS
FORCEPS
 Instrument with long slender
blades.
 It has got screw joints with no
locking mechanism.
 The blades are curved and the
jaws are fenestrated for giving a
firm hold on the stone.
 It is used for removing renal
calculi.

8. GIL-VERNET RENAL SINUS
RETRACTOR
 Used to access stones in the renal pelvis.
 Saddle hook tip is available in a variety of
blade widths.
 The instrument has a malleable neck with
a solid round handle.
 Commonly used in pyelolithotomy.

11. CORYLLOS-BETHUNE RIB SHEARS
 used in cardiovascular and thoracic
surgery to open the chest cavity.
 Single spring plier style handle.
 Available in right and left design

14. DOYEN`S RIB RASPATORY
 The handle has a hollow grip for better
control.
 Doyen`s raspatory has a spiraled hook
shape to scrape individual ribs
 Available in angled left or right as well as
adult and pediatric sizes.
 Used during cardiothoracic surgery
procedures.
 Tip is blunt

17. BONE HOLDING FORCEPS
 Long handles with jaws which can be toothed
and sometimes with a ratchet mechanism to
make them self retaining.
 Used to hold and manipulate bones.
 Also used to hold a plate against the bone
after fracture reduction during internal
fixation of fractures.

22. STILLE LISTON BONE CUTTING
FORCEPS
 Based on a principle of wire cutters.
 Sharp blades
 Available as straight and curved
 Used for preparing the bone graft into
small pieces.
 It can be used to cut short bones like
metacarpals , metatarsals and phalanges.
 Double action forceps.

25. PERIOSTEUM/PERIOSTEAL
ELEVATOR
 Used to lift the periosteum from bones or
dissect soft tissue.
 Procedures like applying a plate for a
fractured bone is done after elevation of
periosteum i,e subperiosteal dissection.
