Meaning Behind the Painting, The Battle of Alexander at Issus
The Battle of Alexander at Issus is Albrecht Altdorfer s most famous painting (www.wikipedia.org).
Painted in 1528 9, the oil painting depicts a young Alexander the Great in 333 BC, at the point of
victory over the Persian army of King Darius III in the battle of Issus (www.ibiblio.org). Issus was an
ancient town in southeast Asia Minor near modern day Iskenderum, Turkey, however on the painting it
is shown in the rocky environment of the Alps with German cities in the background
(www.ibiblio.org). Altdorfer, a painter, engraver, architect, and leading member of the Danube School
of German art, is considered the first true landscape painter and a pioneer of copperplate etching

The Battle of Issus, is atypical in his work, in both its size and subject matter (ww.wikipedia.org). The
painting is made up of a number of miniatures of battle scenes he had done much earlier for his
manuscript Triumphal Procession in 1512 14 (www.wikipedia.org). He signed the painting with a
monogram in the lower left hand corner, dating it 1529, and also inscribed it: Albrecht Altorfer Zu
Regenspvrg Fecit on the bottom edge of the banner panel in the sky (www.wikipedia.org). Despite the
grandeur of scale, Altdorfer displays a miniaturist s mastery of brush stoke, with every tiny figure
rendered in exacting detail (Phaidon 409). The topographic landscape was imaginatively adapted by
Altdorfer from a map of the lands around the Mediterranean and stretches as far as the Nile Valley
(Phaidon 409). Behind the huge armies are the mountains of Asia Minor in the front of the
Mediterranean Sea and Cyprus (www.wikipedia.org). In the background are Palestine, Sinai, the Red
Sea, and Africa with the meandering Nile River heading for the Nile Delta in front of the gently bent
horizon and the dramatic setting sun (www.wikipedia.org). In the heavens, the sun and the moon cast
their light over the scene (Phaidon 409). While the all encompassing landscape may allude to the scale
of Alexander s victory, the diminutive figures lost in the immensity of nature also seem to point to

Akkadian Culture
The Akkadian Culture
The Akkadians were the people of the dominate culture that succeeded the Sumerians the first
dominant Mesopotamian culture. The period of Akkadian centralized governance took place from
2350 2150 B.C.E and for this period the Akkadians resided in Akkad, the city from which they were
named. Akkad was the Akkadian capital city that was chosen by the first Akkadian King, King Sargon.
King Sargon reigned from 2334 2279 B.C.E and he was seen as the greatest leader in the Akkadian
Dynasty. Sargon is regarded in this manner because he was the first king in Mesopotamian history to
ever unite the region of the Fertile Crescent (upper and lower Mesopotamia) through conquest of the
Sumerian cities. The Fertile Crescent is a belt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although they altered the language used they continued to use Sumerian cuneiform, for record
keeping, and recordings. For Akkadians religion was a high priority, but the Akkadian religious beliefs
changed minimally from the Sumerian s belief system. The Sumerian gods An, Enlil, Enki, continued
into Akkadian religion but, there was a name change An became Anu; Enlil became Bel; and Enki
became Ea. The Akkadians also put a great emphasis on the god Shamash who was the sun god, he
was a very important god as their agriculture lifestyles depended on him. Apart from these things the
Akkadians were very similar to the Sumerians. Before Sargon was a king he was first a cup bearer
King Ur Zababa of Kish at a time when Kish was a significant city. Sargon usurped the king s power
and assumed for himself the title as king; Sargon s name means the legitimized king . During his time
Sargon lead many military expeditions to conquer further east and north. As king, Sargon
implemented his daughter as high priestess of the moon god and she took the name of Enheduanna.
Enheduanna must have been a very gifted woman; two Sumerian hymns by her have been preserved,
and she is said to have been instrumental in starting a collection of songs dedicated to

Health And Safety At Work Act 1974is
alth and Safety
Task 1
Health and Safety at work act 1974is to secure the health, safety and welfare of a person at work.
Protecting others against risks to someone s health and safety during activities. at work. Furthermore it
involves controlling the use of highly flammable or explosive substances and the control of harmful
emissions. This applies to engineering workshops at the city of Bath College By staff needing
adequate training to ensure health and safety otherwise it could lead to accidents as students or staffs
wont know how to use equipment. Next is the accident and emergency procedures as there must be a
location for first aid facilities to ensure that if there was to be an accident there would be no problems.

Lastly it is to ensure materials used are properly stored, handled, used and transported correctly.
Health and Safety at work act in a car manufacture by
Wearing PPE to protect the workers during the activities at work so wearing helmets to protect
themselves from heavy equipment . Employees being trained on equipment to prevent injuries as they
would have more experience meaning there will be less errors. if there was faulty machinery and wasn
t checked a person could suffer injuries from dismemberment to loss of life.
Working environment should be kept tidy with adequate lighting and safe equipment will help prevent
accidents. Emergency procedures are involved like first aids for accidents and fire safety because if
flammable substances spilt could cause fire meaning dangerous substances needs to be handled
correctly.
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) relates to the safe handling, storage and
disposal of potentially dangerous substances.

Hulsey Road Crash Report
RECONSTRUCTION: Pre Crash: On 05 26 2016 at approximately 2157 hours, Vehicle 1 was
northbound on Hulsey Road approaching the intersection of Heatherfield Drive at a speed witnesses
estimated to be approximately 50 mph. Witness statements also said Vehicle 1 had been performing a
wheelie prior to the crash, but was down on both wheels about 4 seconds prior to the crash. Bicyclist 1
was riding from Heatherfield Drive and crossing Hulsey Road from east to west, violating the right of
way of Vehicle 1. Bicyclist 1 was crossing the roadway in an area where there were no streetlights,
traffic signals or crosswalks. At Crash: Bicyclist 1 was travelling west across Hulsey Road from the
east side of the intersection from Heatherfield Drive, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Driver 1 ranging from 45.27 to 54.94 miles per hour at the area of impact. (Statements from both
Driver 1 and witness statements have Vehicle 1 travelling above the posted speed limit.) Witness
statements from witnesses also had Vehicle 1 performing a wheelie prior to the crash, while travelling
northbound on Hulsey Road. The statements indicated approximately 4 seconds passed from the end
of the wheelie until Vehicle 1 impacted the bicycle. Damage to the bicycle indicates Vehicle 1 had
both wheels on the ground at impact. Impact on the bicycle occurred at the bottom bracket, down tube
and seat tube. The fact that Vehicle 1 was able to continue approximately 240 feet in a northwest
direction after impact, also indicates that Vehicle 1 had both wheels on the ground at impact. There
were no pre impact tire marks on the roadway to indicate Vehicle 1 s position if or when the driver
perceived or reacted to seeing Bicyclist 1 entering his path of travel. Neither was there a way to
determine a location on the roadway where Vehicle 1 began or ended the

Rwanda Genocide Research Paper
The Rwandan Genocide was from April to July of 1994. During the Rwandan Genocide there were
two groups, the Hutus and the Tutsis, The Hutus were farmers and the Tutsis were cattle farmers. The

assassinated the Hutus president by a plane explosion which made them furious and started a
massacre. The Tutsis had majority of the weapons while only the farmers of the Hutus had weapons.
They wiped out forty five percent of Hutus teachers, students and five percent of the population were
killed (Cause and effects,n.d).
Another example would be the Rwandan civil war, there was a conflict between President Juvenal
Habyarimana and the rebel Rwandan Patriotic front. The Hutu ethnic aimed at wiping out the Tutsis.
The extremist who controlled Rwanda brutally murdered on estimated five hundred thousand to one
million innocent Tutsis. The Tutsi led patriotic front was victorious and has formed a new government.
The last example would be how the Rwandan gained Independence was another caused of the

Belgians. Variety of Tutsis had taken refuge in neighboring states to escape the violence which the
Hutus were combining into a community. Belgium came into possession of the two monarchies by the
way of the League of Nations in 1918. (Scherrer, pg.,

Pathology and Treatment of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension
The pulmonary vasculature contains arteries and arterioles, which branch in the lungs to create a dense
capillary bed to provide blood flow. The pulmonary capillary bed is a high volume, low pressure, low
resistance system that delivers blood to and from the lungs via the arterial and venous circulation
systems. The right ventricle of the heart is responsible for pumping blood to the pulmonary artery and
to the lungs so it can be oxygenated while the left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood to the tissues.
Typically, hypertension refers to high blood pressure in the systemic circulation, however, an increase
in blood pressure may also occur in pulmonary circulation. The pulmonary artery supplying blood to
the lungs can become narrowed, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Increased levels of pro inflammatory cytokines and chemokines result in an infiltration of
inflammatory cells forming plexiform lesions consisting of T cells, B cells and macrophages (Savaj et
al., 2012). Scleroderma, or systemic sclerosis, is a connective tissue disease characterized by a
thickening of the skin. Accumulation of collagen by fibroblasts, platelet adhesion and a type II
hypersensitivity reaction lead to endothelial damage. Endothelial damage and decreased vasodilatation
result in increased arterial pressure leading to PAH (Mclaughlin, 2009). Patients generally have a poor
prognosis unless detected early, as a cure for slceroderma does not exist.
Patients with advanced liver disease can also develop PAH. Portopulmonary hypertension (PPH) is a
combination of high blood pressure in the portal and pulmonary systems. Unless transplantation can
occur, prognosis for these patients is less than ideal. In order to be considered for transplantation,
patients must have a mean arterial pressure less than or equal to 35 mm Hg.
Long term cocaine and methamphetamine abuse have been linked to developing PAH (McLaughin et
al., 2009). Cocaine can cause overexcitement of the sympathetic nervous system triggering an erratic,
potentially severe condition called vasospasm, which involves a rapid

Swot Analysis Of Virgin Mobile
The European company, Virgin Mobile, has done an incredible job expanding its portfolio into many
different areas looking for opportunities to give the customer a better experience where they have
otherwise been at a disadvantage. When the brand decided to enter the U.S. wireless phone service
market, many wondered how the company would compete in such a mature market in a country that
might knew Virgin as an airline. The following information uses Porter s 5 forces Model and a SWOT
analysis to evaluate the wireless phone service industry in addition to a recommendation for the proper
marketing and pricing strategy for Virgin s phone services. Porter s 5 forces model provides a
comprehensive framework to assess an industry s long run profit potential and suggests that any
industry s attractiveness can be assessed by exploring five basic forces (Gulati, Mayo, Nohria, 2017,
p. 122). The first force is the threat of new entry. The common threat of new entrants in this market
should be taken into consideration heavily because the United States had six large carriers with many
regional and affiliate providers. While it seemed to very completely saturated, Virgin Mobile found a
virtually unpenetrated consumer age group ranging from 15 to 29 in the market. The demand side
benefits of scale that these specific consumers acquired was very great because phones were
considered a personal part of their identity. Moreover, the large amounts of capital needed to operate

Based on the Plant Biology Journal entitled Gene discovery in the wood forming tissues of poplar:
Analysis of 5,692 expressed sequence tags , by Sterky et al., 1998, expressed sequence tags (EST)
database was prepared with specific procedure. First of all, EST can be defined as a short fragments
sequence, range from 100 bp 1000 bp. It derived from a c DNA clone which represents the expressed
genes sequence. Usually, ESTs are used to identify the full length genes and serves as a target for
mapping with providing important evidence in the ORF for confirmation as it is organised into
libraries (Ganten et al., 2006). In order to improve the value of EST, few steps of preparing EST

The ESTs database was prepared by constructing cDNA libraries from the sample at first, which are
from the stem tissue of actively growing trees of P. tremula L.× tremuloides Michx. The cambial
region EST library was prepared from developing xylem tissue, developing and mature phloem and
cambial meristem tissue. The cDNA library was prepared from λgt22a by using Superscript Lambda
System for cDNA synthesis and cloning and packaged into λ particles with the Gigapack II Gold. λ
DNA was isolated form an aliquot of the cDNA library representing 200,000 clones, and the cDNA
inserts were isolated and ligated into pBluescript SK. Bacterial clones of the cambial region from
cDNA library were randomly picked, suspended in 100 µl of Tris/EDTA buffer, lysed and stored at 22
ºC until further analysis. Sample from Populus trichocarpa Trichobel was prepared for a developing
xylem library where cDNA was extracted from the mRNA to clone into λZAPII vector. Meanwhile,
the plasmid clones of individual phages were obtained by in vivo excision (Sterky et al., 1998).
Next step involve DNA sequencing of the cambial region cDNA inserts. It was performed using PCR
products as templates from the 59 end. Microtiter plates were loaded onto a robotic worktable. This

Short And Long-Term Effects Of Alcohol Abuse
Substance Related Disorders
1. Describe a number of short and long term effects of alcohol abuse.
Some short term effects of alcohol abuse are the reduction of tension, production of pleasurable
affects, as well as slowed thinking and memory loss. Studies also show poor decision making to be a
short term effect of alcohol consumption. Some long term effects are psychological deterioration as
well as a physical deterioration. Just about every organ is adversely affected by the long term
consumption of alcohol. For example, a person who uses alcohol long term reduces the amount of
food intake due to the calories consumed by alcohol that has little nutritional value. Over time this
person can become malnourished. Long term use of alcohol can ... Show more content on

Distinguish between substance abuse and substance dependence. What are the DSM IV TR criteria for
each?
Substance abuse is an intense desire to use increasing amounts of a particular substance to the
exclusion of other activities whereas drug dependence relies on the body s physical need for a
particular substance.
The DSM IV TR criteria for substance dependence requires the person to have three or more of the
following; tolerance, characteristic withdrawal symptoms, substance taken in larger amount and for a
longer period of time than intended, persistent desire or repeated unsuccessful attempt to quit, more
time or activity to obtain, use and recover, important social, occupational, or recreational activities
given up or reduced, and use that continues despite the knowledge of adverse consequences.
Drug abuse requires the person to have one or more of the following symptoms in a 12 month period;
recurrent use resulting in failure to fulfill a major role or obligation at work, home, or school,
recurrent substance related legal problems, continued use despite persistent or recurrent social or

Relationship Between Intrinsic And Extrinsic Motivation
Academic Paper Summary 1. First, there is a relationship between intrinsic and extrinsic motivations
with job satisfaction. According to the correlation value, intrinsic motivation compared to extrinsic
motivation tends to contribute more in job satisfaction. Second, there are significant and positive
relationship between intrinsic and extrinsic motivations and job satisfaction. Third, there is no
difference between gender and intrinsic and extrinsic motivations. Gender is not a factor that affects
both of the intrinsic and extrinsic motivations. Lastly, the result indicates that there is a difference
between age and intrinsic and extrinsic motivations. Age is the factor that influences on both intrinsic
and extrinsic motivations. 2. The purpose of this study was to develop and test a multilevel framework

Traditional Times Vs Modern Times
The selective students came from Elective class (Drama) with diverse backgrounds and we were
brought together to perform Stations of the Cross , performance presenting the Traditional times Vs
Modern times to the school audience. The casting for the drama was open to participants to select. The
whole casting process itself was very challenging and fun. In the beginning, I found it was necessary
to engage the participant s focus on the process rather than the outcome and hence specific
requirements for the drama were not decided upfront. Each of us was given the opportunity to select a
station for the drama and to come up with scripts for both modern and tradition times. We came up
with the drama direction and communicated to the casts taking into considering the feelings, artistic
expressions and deep relationships including the stage set up and color/costumes, etc. The challenges
my group and I faced was towards the group dynamics/culture, focus and drama management. Though
we were guided by Ms. Moeser, there was no leader appointed to run the show within the group. Clear
objectives and task structure (clear divisions of tasks) were not set in advance. Due to lack of drama
management (as it was a mini project), everybody was involved in everything and this lead to lack of
coordination and distraction from the goal that we wanted to achieve. This also lead to time loss, low
output and concentration. Participants would go away on their own tangent and involve

Worldview Of The Bhagavad Gita
The Bhagavad Gita looks at the purpose of life in their own unique way. Cycles of human life can be
perceived on varying levels, dependent on your religion and beliefs. When considering the Hindu
beliefs, their worldviews can be described as the actions you enforce here on earth, motivated by
either desire or duty. When living in a world dominated by personal inclinations, it is easy to fall into
the temptations of selfish desire. Krishna radiates his concerns of exactly this in the form of
apprehension, keeping his people s best interests in mind. Due to the Hindu belief of reincarnation, the
pressures of enforcing your actions through duty, not desire, is essential to restoring your karma .
Regardless the worldview each religion holds, I understand that everyone s common goal is joy in
some form. In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna establishes the worldview of Hinduism, while allowing for
explanation of worldly desire and the cycle of life.
Each religion provides a quite hopeful ambiance. Hinduism in particular, allows for a guideline to all
who will listen about eternal hope. Every being is faced with the choice of action, either by duty or
desire. Krishna is yearning to voice to humanity that if our actions are inclined by any form of desire,
it will cloud our understanding and only result in deeper, endless indulgences. This temptation of
earthly desires can be controlled by the essence of self control, eventually leading to tranquility and
joy. Although humanly urges may

In this research paper I am going to discuss the extent to which neoliberal globalisation has been a
system of smoke and mirrors where the basic instability and unsustainability of the whole system has
been covered up by the credit bubble. I will firstly attempt to define what neoliberal globalisation is,
and explain how it has spread globally. I ll then outline examples of the effect this has had on

Neoliberalism believes strongly in having an up to date free market, It focuses on the principle of
having a free market with nationalised institutions transforming to become private entities, this leads
to most if not all public institutions being sold off to private investors. It also believes in reducing the
helping hand of government by cutting public services and removing social initiatives such as
unemployment and disability payment. Neoliberalism also believes that to create a truly free market,
there must be no regulation of it; this allows the market to generate as much profit as possible.
Individual responsibility is a key aspect of neoliberalism, as it ensures that the government can be
relinquished of its responsibility to provide for the poorest in society, this forces the poorest to pretty
much fight to survive due to no state healthcare, education or social security. Capitalism is one of the
most important aspects of neoliberalism, it allows anyone to achieve their goals if they have the
determination to follow it through.
Neoliberal globalisation is therefore the global expansion of neoliberal economic theory; this has
resulted in the formation of a global economic system which operates with oversight from neoliberal
economic institutions such as the International Monetary Fund and

The Theme of Mental Health Illustrated in Woolf s Mrs....
Mrs. Dalloway , by Virginia Woolf is a derivative text of The Hours , written by Michael
Cunningham. The novels both share an important theme of mental health. The circumstances of
mental health are commonly sympathetic, and empathetic. The characters Septimus and Clarissa in
Mrs. Dalloway and Richard, Laura Brown, and Virginia Woolf in The Hours show the strongest
symbols for this theme. Most of the problems and treatments these characters face are in direct result
of the age they live in. Both novels express a relationship between era, illnesses and treatments. The
clearest illness was that of Septimus, in Mrs. Dalloway . Septimus suffered from shell shock, a result
of the First World War. This illness in turn brought about an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

On the other hand, the sinister Sir William Bradshaw wishes Septimus were in a rest home and to

at the time:
Health we must have; and health is proportion; so that when a man comes into your room and says he
is Christ... ...and has a message... ...and threatens... ...to kill himself, you invoke proportion; order rest
in bed; rest in solitude; silence and rest; rest without friends, without books; without messages; six
months rest... (Page 110).
Woolf s own experiences could be reflected off of those of Bradshaw s thoughts. Woolf portrays
doctors to be useless. The delusions of Septimus are shown through Woolf s characteristic stream of
consciousness style.
Once you fall, Septimus repeated to himself, human nature is on you. Holmes and Bradshaw are on
you. They scour the desert. They fly screaming into the wilderness. The rack and the thumbscrew are
applied. Human nature is remorseless. (Page 108).
Through this quote, the reader is able to see the way in which Septimus thoughts are portrayed. The
thoughts of Septimus show him to be a helpless victim. When understanding the way Septimus is
being treated by the doctor, the reader can not help but feel sympathy for him. Woolf s use of stream
of consciousness is that of cautiousness and delicacy. In The Hours Richard, a gay poet dying of AIDS

Retribution in Beowulf
_Beowulf_ is an epic poem that, above all, gives us a vision of a time long ago; a time when the most
important traits to have were courage and integrity. The only thing that could give such fame to
somebody was heroic deeds and family lineage. Beowulf, as the example of pagan heroes, exhibited
his desire to accumulate fame and fortune; the only way to do so was to avenge the death of others.
This theme of retribution that is present throughout the whole poem seems to enrich the identities of
its characters.
In _Beowulf_, revenge is represented with both an honest and rhetorical motives. Payback of monsters
offenses is Beowulf s path to the top: worldwide fame, infinite wealth, and unanimous respect.
Grendel s violence is less ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dragon just acts out of pure and simple vengeance, while Grendel attacks out of his insecurity and
jealous nature. So Grendel waged his lonely war, / inflicting constant cruelties on the people, /
atrocious hurt... he was the Lord s outcast (165 166; 169).
The final and most absolute act of revenge in _Beowulf_ comes from the dragon, also the last monster.
The dragon was forced into a rage of destruction when he learned Beowulf s men had been raiding his
treasure collections. The dragon really only wanted defend his treasure, and when he couldn t do that,
violence was his natural reaction of retribution. Beowulf figures it s time for him to face the dragon
when he learns that his own home, / had been burned to a cinder (2325 2326).
The final requirement of the Heroic Code, Beowulf s actions are in the hands of fate, in his fight with
the dragon. Beowulf is attempting to complete or fulfill his destiny, if you will, by fighting the dragon.
The dragon, however, is acting out of revenge for what Beowulf and his men did to his treasures. The
veteran king sat down on the cliff top... he was sad at heart, / unsettled yet ready, sensing his death. /
His fate hovered near, unknowable but certain (2416 2421). The dragon s act of vengeance is the
pivotal point where Beowulf meets his demise and his destiny.
Clearly, revenge is a theme that filters through in nearly every aspect of _Beowulf_. Revenge is used

. However there have also been cases of the noise being more pleasant and taking the form of Japanese
bells and music.
The feelings that people experience while near death have had similarities, they are described as
extremely pleasant sensations during the earlier stages in the experience these include feelings of
peace and quiet, warmth, comfort and solitude. All feelings you would not associate with a near death
experience. One example is from a man who after a severe head injury lost all signs of life: At the
point of injury there was a momentary flash of pain, but all the pain vanished... the day was bitterly
cold, yet while I was in blackness all I felt was warmth and the most extreme comfort I have ever
experienced.
The darkness that was mentioned in that mans experience is part of another feature that of the Dark
tunnel which is also often concurrent with the noise It is basically a sensation of being pulled at a

Japanese Internment Camp
Photograph #1 shows a large group of Japanese Americans lining up behind a table, for what appears
to be their registration into a Japanese internment camp. Within the group, you can see looks of
confusion and distress on most of the adult faces, as well as looks of confusion and crying from the
children. Many of the Japanese Americans are carrying few belongings other than the man to the left
with one bag in his hand, and the woman in front of him who has an item in her hands; it is implied
that after registering their names with the United States government representatives at the table, they
will be sent to the internment camps with what they have. With the confusion on their faces as well, it
could be assumed that some people did not even know that they could take belongings with them to
the camps. It could also be assumed that many in the line are not sure why they have to register in
these camps, as they have been living normal American lives up until this point in 1942. The idea for
these camps was brought on by propaganda, creating fears amongst not only regular citizens, but
government officials as well ( Japanese American Internment 2016). Over 127,000 Japanese
Americans were imprisoned when the camps had first been developed, up until the last camp was
closed in 1946 ( Japanese Relocation 2016). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their faces seem to show looks that are stern and emotionless. It can be inferred that propaganda and
fear caused them to disregard the importance of each individual s life. These citizens working for the
government probably agreed with the process started by the President due to the severity of the attacks
on Pearl Harbor. If one was skeptical of these policies, since they were aware of how this was
effecting the Japanese Americans life, they would most likely be following orders at this point
regardless of how they personally

Yahoo Case Study Essay
Almost twenty years ago in 1994, talk show hosts of the Today show were filmed stumbling over their
words attempting to define a new technology called the internet (Pegoraro, 2011). At the same time,
Jerry Yang and David Filo, two Stanford University graduates who had embraced this new technology,
were working to develop a framework to organize the plethora of websites they had discovered on the
internet ( The history, 2005). This exceptionally organized list of websites formed the concept behind
Yahoo, which soon became one of the most highly visited sites on the internet (Indu Gupta, 2007).
Yahoo did very well in the first four years, but before long it was clear that the company was in
desperate need of a focused strategy. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the customer experience was not seamless with the new services that the acquisitions
brought to the table. For example, Yahoo customers had to separately log into each service (Indu
Gupta, 2007). Furthermore, Yahoo s complex organizational structure added confusion to their
operating procedures and delayed the company s ability to make vital business decisions. Yahoo lost
out on lucrative opportunities, such as the purchase of YouTube, because they could not make timely
decisions (Indu Gupta, 2007). Employees felt that the management style of the organization stifled
their creative talents (Indu Gupta, 2007). These factors severely affected Yahoo s performance.
Reorganization was crucial for Yahoo to prepare the company to face fierce competitors like Google.
The company took action to address the factors that were detracting from their performance. To
enhance their revenues Yahoo developed new relationships, took advantage of existing website
features, and implemented a new search marketing program. Yahoo partnered with nationwide
newspapers to magnify their exposure through local advertisements (Welbes, 2006). Additionally,
Yahoo launched Panama a search technology that was to deliver better targeted advertising with
greater impact on Yahoo s bottom line (Holahan, 2006, para. 2). The company began

Efficacy Of Telemedicine Essay
In 2010 a study was completed in the state of California in order to evaluate the efficacy of
telemedicine to reduce barriers to healthcare in rural populations (Ritter, L., Robinette, T., Cofano, J.,
2010). The assessment was made in 33 counties throughout California and was accomplished through
patient satisfaction survey. The ultimate result of the survey was that telemedicine can improve access
to care for people in rural settings, along with those who live in situations that make it difficult to
access care.
Ritter, Robinette, Cofano (2010), refer to the California Telehealth and eHealth Center s definition for
telemedicine. This definition is: the use of telecommunications and information technologies for the

(2008), has shown that CCTM is a viable approach to chronic disease management. They included a
large volume of patients over a number of years and proved that the program is viable in all kinds of
demographic settings from urban, to super rural. This particular review further agrees with other
studies relating to customer satisfaction using telemedicine. This seems universal across studies. The
area where this particular evaluation differs from the others is the proof that it does reduce
consumption of care, and reduces cost of care. This review validates this in a significant manner. The
VHA appears to have developed a solid program model for delivering CCTM to its customer base, and
the customer base seems to like it. This case report supports the capstone project question by
validating the efficacy of case management via telemedicine. As illustrated by the patient enrolled in
the CP program there is a desire to participate in her care. However, she is physically unable to do so
because of a lack of transportation. CCTM would enable this patient to manage her chronic diseases
while being engaged with her primary care team so that her experience of care would improve, while
simultaneously reducing her per capita cost of care as she would no longer have to rely on emergency
services to provide her

Spirituality In The Film The Great Debaters
Spirituality is a subtle but paramount theme throughout this movie. James Farmer Senior was a
religious man and strong believer in the existence of a higher power which explains why his first line
in the movie is a bible verse from Corinthians Chapter thirteen, verse eleven. As he addresses the
freshmen of Wiley College, he reminds them that Education is the only way out of ignorance and
darkness into the glorious light He implies that the freshmen have new and more important
responsibilities to carry on their shoulders and things will be difficult for them especially since the
level of segregation is at an all time high. He explains that now that they ve moved from one phase of

At the beginning of the film, The Great Debaters, Henry Lowe is seen as conceited, philandering and
impulsive. However, during the course of the movie we find out that Henry is just a kid who has been
through a lot including watching his parents become slaves to the white. He has seen things and is at
lost about how to deal with it and so he drinks his problems away. Through Professor Tolson s lessons
and training, He becomes more mature and responsible. Towards the end of the movie, Henry gives up
his position as leader speaker to James Farmer Junior which to me shows a tremendous growth on the
part of Henry because he believes in James Jr. even though the last time James Jr. spoke in a debate,
they lost. Henry believes James Jr. is ready and sits in audience as a spectator to watch the debate. At
the end credits of the movie, we learn each of the debaters have grown into influential members of the
society. Samantha Booke became the lawyer she always wanted to be and led the freedom walk to
Alabama. James Farmer Junior founded the Congress of Racial Equality and Henry Lowe became a
minister; proving that the young too shall

Reality Is A Hard Trail
Reality is a hard trail that everyone in the world has to face. Reality comes with many aspects that are
constantly changing and that can be confusing or scary to many people. Coming to terms with reality
is difficult sometimes but, no one must shy from aspects of reality for that reason. If they were to shy
away and hide themselves from knowledge or experience then they will never be able to overcome
their conflictions with the issue. In order to grow, people have to properly come to understand and
face harsh realities. There are no safe spaces or trigger warnings in most places of the world. That s
the lesson that the incoming students of University of Chicago, whom may expect the inclusion of
trigger warning and safe spaces into the education system, need to understand. A safe space is an area
located anywhere, where anyone can escape from things they find harmful, such as controversial
topics or different ideals. They are also able to fully express themselves, without having to worry
about being uncomfortable, unwelcome, or unsafe. A trigger warning is an essentially a warning that
the presented content through verbal or visual means, may be considered disturbing or upsetting to
many. Some students of Chicago University may think that their school is in need of these concepts in
order to protect themselves however the University has rejected the idea in a letter they sent, on the
basis that it could prove harmful to their academic freedom. The University of

Voter Turnout
July 4th, Veterans Day, and Labor Day are all national holidays for which schools and work are closed
for the day. However, the United States has yet to make election day a national holiday. The first
Tuesday in November of every fourth year, election day takes place. Election day presents citizens
with the opportunity to influence federal bureaucracy by choosing the next president of the United
States. In the most recent election, voter turnout was at a twenty year low (Wallace). The U.S. was not
only at a twenty year low, but the U.S. voter turnout currently trails most developed countries
(DeSilver). As voter turnout seemed to drop every election, many democratic politicians decided to

these restrictions, the Supreme Court ruled that states with the longest histories of voting
discrimination no longer needed to approve their voting changes with the federal government
(Berman). This ruling allowed states to discriminate and make it harder for other ethnicities to vote,
which would affect voter turnout. These voter restrictions are a violation of the constitution and
against the belief of democracy in the U.S. The rebuff of Trump s hedging on accepting the election

Analysis Of The Episode Harley And Ivy From Batman The...
The episode Harley and Ivy from Batman the Animated Series is full of interesting ideas and exciting
calls to action for its audience. Poison Ivy and her adventures with Harley Quinn not only explore
what it means to be a virtuous character but also question what it means to be and independent and
strong woman. Ivy specifically acts as the main example of female empowerment and throughout the
entire. While the author of the episode, Paul Dini, and the director of the episode, Boyd Kirkland, do
not tackle the feminist goals of this episode in totally flawless ways, they still do a good job of using
Poison Ivy s character to asks the audience, specifically the female audience, to encourage female
friendship, fight sexism, and questions gender roles and what it means to be a virtuous and
empowered woman. In this episode Harley and Ivy become partners in crime, but they also become
living partners in Ivy s home, they seem to enjoy sharing the space and are seen drinking coffee
together among other homey activities. In the scenes when they are home together, they both looked
relaxed, comfortable, and happy with each other. Neither of them wear any of their regular villain
outfits, but instead trade their crime causing fashion for big comfy t shirts. I would argue that they
become romantic partners and because of this they become the perfect team. They decide to work
together, they become the Queens of Crime, robbing museums and stealing money, and they become
more powerful

Essay on Eisenhower
The Early Years
Dwight David Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890 in Denison, Texas. He was the third of seven

Why Did The British Empire Saw The American Revolution By...
By 1763, there was an dominant and successful empire in England known as British Empire. This
empire saw the emergency of the America Revolution because of an argument that rose between
American colonists and the British settlers with concerns over the constitution. Following the war that
waged on for seven years, a massive debt was thrust upon Great Britain, this debt, became the
principal source of the disagreements that arose between the British and the Americans. Which
resulted in a series of major revolts that lasted for more than a decade (Bonwick, 1991). England gave
assistance to the American army, and as a direct result of their actions the government of England
accrued a massive debt. Policy makers of the British Parliament decided ... Show more content on

Americans lacked people to present them in the House of Commons, which ignited a revolution

which helped in relinquishing the land that belonged to Spain and British. The agreement also enabled

Biography Of Jeffrey Leonard Resected A Brain Tumor
On December 23, 2014, neurosurgeon Jeffrey Leonard resected a brain tumor in a ten year old girl that
was previously thought to be inoperable. Although it took two operations, due to modern technology
and education Dr. Leonard was successful. The girl fully recovered from surgery and was awake and
responsive the next morning. Modern surgeons knowledge of the human brain has evolved immensely
through the ages. The first brain surgeons did not have anywhere near the knowledge that we possess
today, but it is because of them that the current treatment of neurological problems is so advanced.
Doctors can now perform advanced procedures such as the resection of tumors and clipping of
aneurysms all while a patient is numbed and unconscious when previously treatment was a painful
shot in the dark. Neurosurgery has evolved not only through extensive research of anatomy and a
change in religious perspective, but came hand in hand with the development of anesthetics and the
world s major advancements in radiology and imaging.
Neurosurgery is set apart from every other field because it pertains to the most important part of the
body: the brain. If a person s entire body works perfectly with the exclusion of the brain, that person
will still never be able to function normally. There is a wide variety of neurological defects that can
arise in any one of us including aneurysms, tumors, nerve damage, and strokes. (__) The sheer
fragility of our minds demands highly skilled surgeons to fix

Sign Language Should Be Taught In Public Schools Essay
There are many opportunities in the world today. But has anyone ever stopped to think if they are the
right ones? Public schools have languages they offer to take as an elective to learn and use later in life.
Usually Spanish, French, German and Japanese. But what about the people who cannot speak or hear
a language? What are they supposed to do? Not giving equal opportunities to all students is quite
unfair. That s why I propose that there should be sign language courses taught in public schools.
There are, of course, thousands of schools around the world for the deaf or hard of heating. To me,
that sounds very secluded. To make a special school for a group of people because they re different in
some way, well I don t think that sounds fair. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would teach all heating children priceless communication skills and encourage their physical
fluidity, expressiveness, and development. And not only would it get rid of received prejudices
towards the deaf or partially heating (based on healing adults fear of being unable to communicate
without awkwardness) but it would end the disability status of the deaf.
Deaf Connections is a charity in Scotland that is spearheading the first steps towards a project like the
one Richard Sinnott proposed, by helping youngsters in Glasgow to learn the basic signing skills. The
project is being carried out in conjunction with Glasgow City Council s education department and is
being supported by a grant from the National Lottery.
Only 16 states in the U.S. have schools with the option of sign language in their schools. To me, that
number isn t nearly large enough. There should be options of sign language in every state. Better said
their needs to be fair opportunities in every state. Now in Portland Public Schools if a proposal for
sign language was made all that would be said is that there aren t enough funds. Well, how about we
get some funds. I thought Education was the most important thing in school. I guess not because they
re using so much money on sports and not enough on the education value in

  • 2. Meaning Behind the Painting, The Battle of Alexander at Issus The Battle of Alexander at Issus is Albrecht Altdorfer s most famous painting (www.wikipedia.org). Painted in 1528 9, the oil painting depicts a young Alexander the Great in 333 BC, at the point of victory over the Persian army of King Darius III in the battle of Issus (www.ibiblio.org). Issus was an ancient town in southeast Asia Minor near modern day Iskenderum, Turkey, however on the painting it is shown in the rocky environment of the Alps with German cities in the background (www.ibiblio.org). Altdorfer, a painter, engraver, architect, and leading member of the Danube School of German art, is considered the first true landscape painter and a pioneer of copperplate etching (www.ibiblio.org). Battle of Alexander and Darius at Issus was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Battle of Issus, is atypical in his work, in both its size and subject matter (ww.wikipedia.org). The painting is made up of a number of miniatures of battle scenes he had done much earlier for his manuscript Triumphal Procession in 1512 14 (www.wikipedia.org). He signed the painting with a monogram in the lower left hand corner, dating it 1529, and also inscribed it: Albrecht Altorfer Zu Regenspvrg Fecit on the bottom edge of the banner panel in the sky (www.wikipedia.org). Despite the grandeur of scale, Altdorfer displays a miniaturist s mastery of brush stoke, with every tiny figure rendered in exacting detail (Phaidon 409). The topographic landscape was imaginatively adapted by Altdorfer from a map of the lands around the Mediterranean and stretches as far as the Nile Valley (Phaidon 409). Behind the huge armies are the mountains of Asia Minor in the front of the Mediterranean Sea and Cyprus (www.wikipedia.org). In the background are Palestine, Sinai, the Red Sea, and Africa with the meandering Nile River heading for the Nile Delta in front of the gently bent horizon and the dramatic setting sun (www.wikipedia.org). In the heavens, the sun and the moon cast their light over the scene (Phaidon 409). While the all encompassing landscape may allude to the scale of Alexander s victory, the diminutive figures lost in the immensity of nature also seem to point to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Endothelial damage and decreased vasodilatation result in increased arterial pressure leading to PAH (Mclaughlin, 2009). Patients generally have a poor prognosis unless detected early, as a cure for slceroderma does not exist. Patients with advanced liver disease can also develop PAH. Portopulmonary hypertension (PPH) is a combination of high blood pressure in the portal and pulmonary systems. Unless transplantation can occur, prognosis for these patients is less than ideal. In order to be considered for transplantation, patients must have a mean arterial pressure less than or equal to 35 mm Hg. Long term cocaine and methamphetamine abuse have been linked to developing PAH (McLaughin et al., 2009). Cocaine can cause overexcitement of the sympathetic nervous system triggering an erratic, potentially severe condition called vasospasm, which involves a rapid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Swot Analysis Of Virgin Mobile The European company, Virgin Mobile, has done an incredible job expanding its portfolio into many different areas looking for opportunities to give the customer a better experience where they have otherwise been at a disadvantage. When the brand decided to enter the U.S. wireless phone service market, many wondered how the company would compete in such a mature market in a country that might knew Virgin as an airline. The following information uses Porter s 5 forces Model and a SWOT analysis to evaluate the wireless phone service industry in addition to a recommendation for the proper marketing and pricing strategy for Virgin s phone services. Porter s 5 forces model provides a comprehensive framework to assess an industry s long run profit potential and suggests that any industry s attractiveness can be assessed by exploring five basic forces (Gulati, Mayo, Nohria, 2017, p. 122). The first force is the threat of new entry. The common threat of new entrants in this market should be taken into consideration heavily because the United States had six large carriers with many regional and affiliate providers. While it seemed to very completely saturated, Virgin Mobile found a virtually unpenetrated consumer age group ranging from 15 to 29 in the market. The demand side benefits of scale that these specific consumers acquired was very great because phones were considered a personal part of their identity. Moreover, the large amounts of capital needed to operate gave Virgin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cycles of human life can be perceived on varying levels, dependent on your religion and beliefs. When considering the Hindu beliefs, their worldviews can be described as the actions you enforce here on earth, motivated by either desire or duty. When living in a world dominated by personal inclinations, it is easy to fall into the temptations of selfish desire. Krishna radiates his concerns of exactly this in the form of apprehension, keeping his people s best interests in mind. Due to the Hindu belief of reincarnation, the pressures of enforcing your actions through duty, not desire, is essential to restoring your karma . Regardless the worldview each religion holds, I understand that everyone s common goal is joy in some form. In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna establishes the worldview of Hinduism, while allowing for explanation of worldly desire and the cycle of life. Each religion provides a quite hopeful ambiance. Hinduism in particular, allows for a guideline to all who will listen about eternal hope. Every being is faced with the choice of action, either by duty or desire. Krishna is yearning to voice to humanity that if our actions are inclined by any form of desire, it will cloud our understanding and only result in deeper, endless indulgences. Neoliberalism also believes that to create a truly free market, there must be no regulation of it; this allows the market to generate as much profit as possible. Individual responsibility is a key aspect of neoliberalism, as it ensures that the government can be relinquished of its responsibility to provide for the poorest in society, this forces the poorest to pretty much fight to survive due to no state healthcare, education or social security. While the author of the episode, Paul Dini, and the director of the episode, Boyd Kirkland, do not tackle the feminist goals of this episode in totally flawless ways, they still do a good job of using Poison Ivy s character to asks the audience, specifically the female audience, to encourage female friendship, fight sexism, and questions gender roles and what it means to be a virtuous and empowered woman. In this episode Harley and Ivy become partners in crime, but they also become living partners in Ivy s home, they seem to enjoy sharing the space and are seen drinking coffee together among other homey activities. In the scenes when they are home together, they both looked relaxed, comfortable, and happy with each other. Neither of them wear any of their regular villain outfits, but instead trade their crime causing fashion for big comfy t shirts. I would argue that they become romantic partners and because of this they become the perfect team. They decide to work together, they become the Queens of Crime, robbing museums and stealing money, and they become more powerful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Why Did The British Empire Saw The American Revolution By... By 1763, there was an dominant and successful empire in England known as British Empire. This empire saw the emergency of the America Revolution because of an argument that rose between American colonists and the British settlers with concerns over the constitution. Following the war that waged on for seven years, a massive debt was thrust upon Great Britain, this debt, became the principal source of the disagreements that arose between the British and the Americans. Which resulted in a series of major revolts that lasted for more than a decade (Bonwick, 1991). England gave assistance to the American army, and as a direct result of their actions the government of England accrued a massive debt. Policy makers of the British Parliament decided ... However, this made it hard for trading to take place since there was an absence of trading commodities like silver and gold mines as these currencies could only be achieved through trade. Moreover, there was destabilization of the economy in the entire colony due to the Currency Act. Hence leading to various divisions between American Colonies and the Great Britain (Lancaster, 2001). These Acts angered the Americans since they were passed in favor of the British Empire as the Americans lacked people to present them in the House of Commons, which ignited a revolution among the Americans to stop such vices. Americans, with the aid of the Indians were able to force the French Colonists out of the American territories, which gave birth to the signing of the Treaty of Paris, which helped in relinquishing the land that belonged to Spain and British. The agreement also enabled the balance of power between the British and the Americans, as the British was allowed to have the control of the coast, which later boosted its colonial ... • 32. Biography Of Jeffrey Leonard Resected A Brain Tumor On December 23, 2014, neurosurgeon Jeffrey Leonard resected a brain tumor in a ten year old girl that was previously thought to be inoperable. Although it took two operations, due to modern technology and education Dr. Leonard was successful. The girl fully recovered from surgery and was awake and responsive the next morning. Modern surgeons knowledge of the human brain has evolved immensely through the ages. The first brain surgeons did not have anywhere near the knowledge that we possess today, but it is because of them that the current treatment of neurological problems is so advanced. Doctors can now perform advanced procedures such as the resection of tumors and clipping of aneurysms all while a patient is numbed and unconscious when previously treatment was a painful shot in the dark. Neurosurgery has evolved not only through extensive research of anatomy and a change in religious perspective, but came hand in hand with the development of anesthetics and the world s major advancements in radiology and imaging. Neurosurgery is set apart from every other field because it pertains to the most important part of the body: the brain. If a person s entire body works perfectly with the exclusion of the brain, that person will still never be able to function normally. There is a wide variety of neurological defects that can arise in any one of us including aneurysms, tumors, nerve damage, and strokes. • 33. Sign Language Should Be Taught In Public Schools Essay There are many opportunities in the world today. But has anyone ever stopped to think if they are the right ones? Public schools have languages they offer to take as an elective to learn and use later in life. Usually Spanish, French, German and Japanese. But what about the people who cannot speak or hear a language? What are they supposed to do? Not giving equal opportunities to all students is quite unfair. That s why I propose that there should be sign language courses taught in public schools. There are, of course, thousands of schools around the world for the deaf or hard of heating. To me, that sounds very secluded. To make a special school for a group of people because they re different in some way, well I don t think that sounds fair. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would teach all heating children priceless communication skills and encourage their physical fluidity, expressiveness, and development. And not only would it get rid of received prejudices towards the deaf or partially heating (based on healing adults fear of being unable to communicate without awkwardness) but it would end the disability status of the deaf. Deaf Connections is a charity in Scotland that is spearheading the first steps towards a project like the one Richard Sinnott proposed, by helping youngsters in Glasgow to learn the basic signing skills. The project is being carried out in conjunction with Glasgow City Council s education department and is being supported by a grant from the National Lottery. Only 16 states in the U.S. have schools with the option of sign language in their schools. To me, that number isn t nearly large enough. There should be options of sign language in every state. Better said their needs to be fair opportunities in every state. Now in Portland Public Schools if a proposal for sign language was made all that would be said is that there aren t enough funds. Well, how about we get some funds. I thought Education was the most important thing in school. I guess not because they re using so much money on sports and not enough on the education value in ... Ever since I was a child I would spend large quantities of time in the woods, eventually I came to view the woods as my personal tabernacle. The woods are not just one location and can come in many forms, but I have spent the largest amount of time in the woods behind my old house and at my lakehouse. At my old house the woods were spread out for several miles and were centered around a corn field. Oak trees, pine trees and birch trees filled the woods.
