Locations and Equipment
Locations:
Location 1: 10 Green Lane, York
For the first scene in the music video the main character will be
shown walking down an urban street. We have chosen to use
this street as it is in a similar style to working class housing in
the 1970’s. The street has a run down and dated feel linking to
how the main character in our music video is poor and living in
poverty.
Location 2 (Chorus): York College Studio
For this scene we will shoot the band playing in
the studio on the choruses. We will also have
projected images of footage of political problems
that are current and happening today on the band
with a white background. We would use low key
lighting so that we can see the band yet also see
the projected clips.
Location 3: Bus
We will have a shot of the actor
getting onto the bus and then a shot
of him sitting by himself looking out
the window.
Location 4: Station Road
For this scene we will have the main
character sitting on a bench/on the floor
with a plastic cup collecting money.
Location 5: Supermarket in town
In this scene our main character will be seen going
into a supermarket and buying a loaf of bread.
Location 6: Riverside
For this scene we will have the main character
feeding the swans and ducks the bread that he
had bought earlier. It will show him with a smile
on his face whilst doing so.
Band Costume
For the bands costumes we will be following style conventions of indie rock bands in the 1970’s.
We will also look at the clothes that the buzzcocks wore during the 1970’s. After completing
some research into indie rock bands during the 1970’s we found that many of the bands wore
fairly smart casual clothes. Looking at the bands it seems that each of the band members had a
their own individual style. Therefore when choosing the costumes for the band members we
should consider having slightly different styles for each member. Common pieces of clothing
worn were leather jackets, long coats, waist coats and blazers. Therefore we will try and use
these clothing items for the bands costume. To get these pieces of clothing we are planning on
looking in charity shops as we most likely will find some more dated pieces there.
Main Characters
Costume
Our main character is a working class young man who
works in a hard working, manual labour job. Therefore, his
clothing will be very basic due to having little money to
spend on new clothes. Looking at what working class men
wore in the 1970’s it was often a simple white t-shirt with old
jeans. In the music video the clothes will be quite scruffy and
old due to lack of money and working in manual labour. He
will also be wearing big boots, linking again to the fact that
he words a manual labour job. We would possibly use doc
martins for this.
