2. Song choice
Our song is The Lights by Alesha Dixon
The idea for our music video is of a mystery man who is
travelling around London, looking for something that is
unknown to the audience. In the end its revealed that he
was looking for a girl (our artist) but when he finally finds
her she disappears.
3. Brand Image
Artist Name is Leah Rose
Our artist is similar to Pixie Lott and Cheryl Cole
Our artist will wear casual/ smart, High street wear, it
allows the audience to be able to relate to our artist.
Out artists image can help to connect to a wider
audience because its not too extravagant as she's an
average young female which the audience can relate
themselves to.
4. Initial idea
Our ideas for our music videos have been influenced by other
videos from the same artist for example ‘To love again by Alesha
Dixon’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ah9HOWzHKs
We will have the artist singing in our 3 base tracks and will jump
cut to close up shots of a person traveling e.g. a shot of a persons
feet stepping onto the escalators.
In the end the artist is singing at our first base track when a person
walks in front of the camera and when he walks pass, the artist
would have disappeared and in her place would be the mystery
person looking around for her.
5. Audience 1
Our core audience is for older teenagers and young
adults aged between 17-25
For young females who can relate to the situation of
loosing someone or being in a relationship.
The artist will be wearing High street clothing which the
audience can be able to buy themselves.
6. Setting and Location
Kings cross square as
our main base track
Escalators at Angel
tube station
The crossing
outside college
Millennium bridge during
the day and night
Angel tube station
7. Costumes
We will have 3 outfit changes for each location.
Kings cross square: Leather coat, light colored
jeans, stripy blouse and black boots
Millennium bridge: Fluffy coat, dark jeans and heeled
boots
Street crossing: (Medium shot) Vest top and a blazer
Mystery man’s outfit: Jeans, trainers and a navy blue
jumper
8. Synergy
The song is called ‘The Lights’
and the lyrics includes
references to lights and shining
bright so we decided to play on
the idea of amplifying the lights
by filming some of our shots
and night with the city lights in
the background.
For the digipack and
advertisement we wanted to
have a picture of our artist
standing at one of our locations
at night with shinning lights in
the background.
9. Industry
Our artist would be sign to Fascination Records which
was launched by Polydor Records specifically for pop
artists.
Our artist has been influenced by singers such as Pixie
Lott and Cheryl Cole. Cheryl Cole is signed to this label
as well as The Saturdays and Selena Gomez.
We chose this label as it is dedicated to pop music and
it is UK based but they also distribute some of their
artists work worldwide.
10. Goodwin’s theory
We decided to have our artist be the narrator,
performing directly into the camera
We have introduced a mystery person to be the
character in the music video
As the artist is singing at the camera, it would involve
the viewers with the performance
The mystery person would intrigue the audience to find
out who they are and where they are going
12. Production schedule
Tuesday - 22/10 10:45 – Filming at Angel tube station.
We will be filming our mystery character scene (close up shots of them on the escalators, stepping onto the
tube). No props needed and will only need the camera and fig rig.
Thursday - 24/10 3:05 – Filming at Kings cross square
This is where we will film our main base track (wide shot of the location and close up of the artist singing).
We will also be filming our last verse where the mystery person is revealed. Our main artist will be wearing
a leather jacket, light coloured jeans and boots. We will only be using the camera and fig rig.
Wednesday -30th – Filming at Millennium bridge during the day and night
This is our second base track where we will shoot a wide shot of our artist standing on the bridge and close
ups of her singing. She will be wearing a winter coat, dark jeans and boots. We will require lights for this
location as we are filming at night.
Thursday – 31st 6:30 – Filming the car scenes at night in angel
We will be filming our artist singing directly into the camera at a street crossing outside college at night. Our
artist will be wearing a vest top with a blazer. We will also need lighting for this location as it will be shot at
night.
13. Risk assessment
We have to cautious of filming at night as it may be
unsafe to have the cameras out late at night. To
overcome this we decided to film just as it is getting
dark (6-7pm) and to shoot the majority of our music
video during the day.
Filming at a tube station platform could be dangerous
as we will be operating heavy equipment near the edge
of the platform.
