This document outlines the project method of teaching. It was developed by John Dewey and involves having students complete meaningful projects based on real-life situations. The project method involves learning through doing and cooperation. Projects can be individual or social/group-based. There are five stages to completing a project: providing a situation, choosing a topic, planning, executing, and judging the project. The teacher acts as a guide to help students solve problems and ensure all students contribute. Benefits include relating education to life, developing self-confidence, and illustrating subjects in a realistic way. Limitations include the large time commitment and limited content coverage.
