2. Solar System
• The Solar System is a space in
which there is the Sun and
planets revolve around it due
to a force known as gravity.
• The Solar System has
following components that
make up the Solar System:
• 1. Stars
• 2. Planets
• 3. Astroids
• 4. Comets
3. Jupiter
1. Jupiter is the largest planet
in the Solar System.
2. Jupiter is twice as big as all
the other planets combined.
Jupiter is 11 times larger
than Earth.
3. Jupiter is the darkest planet.
4. It is the fastest rotating
planet.
5. It takes less than 10 hours to
complete its rotation.
6. It has the shortest days.
• It was first observed
through telescopes in
the 17th century by
astronomers Galileo
Galilei.
4. Saturn
• Saturn is the second largest
planet of the Solar System by
size.
• Saturn is the 6th farthest
planet from the Sun.
• Galileo Galilei was the first to
observe Saturn with a
telescope in 1610.
• It is a massive ball which is
made of hydrogen and
helium.
• You can't stand on Saturn,
because there's no solid
surface to stand on.
5. Uranus
• It is the 3rd largest planet in Solar
Sytem.
• Uranus is known for its distinctive
Blue color which is the result of
Methane gas in its atmosphere.
• Its temperature is very cool
because it is the 2nd farthest planet
of the solar system.
• It was the first planet found with
the aid of a telescope in 1781 by
astronomer William Herschel.
• Uranus is very cold and windy.
• Uranus is made of
gases but it does not
have Oxygen.
Therefore, we can't
live on it.
6. Neptune
1. It is the 4th largest planet in
Solar System.
2. Neptune is the farthest
planet from the Sun.
3. Neptune is the coldest
planet.
4. Neptune is about 4 times
wider than Earth.
5. It has the strongest winds in
the Solar System.
7. Earth
• It is the 3rd closest planet
from the sun.
• It is the 5th largest planet in
solar system.
• 71% of the Earth is covered
by water and 29% is covered
by land or dryness.
• It is the only planet which
provide air and water.
• It is the only planet which
posses life and ecosystem.
• It is the habitat of million of
species.
• Scientists have estimated
that there are around 8.7
million species.
• Only around 1.2 million
species have been
identified so far, most of
them are insects.
8. Venus
• It is the 6th largest planet of Solar
System.
• Venus is the hottest planet among
the all planets.
• It is also the brightest planet.
• It is the slowest rotating planet.
• It is often called Earth’s twin
because it is similar in Earth's size.
• Venus was the first planet explored
by a spacecraft- NASA’s Mariner 2
Successfully on 14 December 1962.
9. Mars
• It is the 7th largest and 2nd
smallest planet. Mars is the
fourth farthest planet from
the Sun.
• It is aslo called "Red Planet"
due to reddish appearance.
• It has evidence of that water
was present in the past.
• Agencies like NASA and
SpaceX are working on this
planet in order to shift
human beings on this planet.
• It has possibility of life
and it may be the
future planet of
human beings.
• SpaceX company
makes space rockets
and Elon Musk is CEO
of it.
10. Mercury
• Mercury is the smallest
planet of the Solar System.
• In shape, it is similar to
Earth's moon.
• Mercury is the closest planet
from the sun.
• Its temperature is very hot
and it is the second hottest
planet.
• It has non ending summers.
• It has no moon.
• Mercury has a very
slow rotation and it is
the second slowest
planet in term of
rotation.
11. Conclusion
• As we learnt about all planets and we
observed that every planet has their own
characteristics.
• Venus is too hot while Neptune is too cool.
Therefore, Earth seems the best planet
among 8 planets.
• The conditions of Mars show that we may
live on Mars and it may be an alternative of
Earth.
