Module 1: Essentials of Project Management
This module provides the basics of project management through the introduction of essential
project management concepts and terminologies based on the PM Methodology. Participants will
learn how to identify project components, select a project and properly provide a firm foundation
for a project.
This module has no prerequisites.
Course Outline
Objectives
At the end of this module, the participants shall:
1. Describe the benefits of project management and having a standardized PM methodology.
2. Identify the characteristics of managing projects from a strategic perspective.
3. Identify the foundations of a project management culture.
4. Demonstrate an understanding of the various roles and responsibilities involved in a project.
5. Determine how to select a project to initiate.
6. Determine the composition of a project charter, which gives the project manager the
authority to carry out a project.
7. Write a business case, requirements, and project charter.

Module 2: Understanding Project Planning
This module covers how to establish time durations and estimating project cost. Participants shall
realize the value of performing estimation using scientific estimation techniques instead of
depending on subjective estimates. Cost estimation and budgeting techniques are discussed in
detail.

Project management essentials and Understanding Project Planning

  • 1. Module 1: Essentials of Project Management This module provides the basics of project management through the introduction of essential project management concepts and terminologies based on the PM Methodology. Participants will learn how to identify project components, select a project and properly provide a firm foundation for a project. This module has no prerequisites. Course Outline Objectives At the end of this module, the participants shall: 1. Describe the benefits of project management and having a standardized PM methodology. 2. Identify the characteristics of managing projects from a strategic perspective. 3. Identify the foundations of a project management culture. 4. Demonstrate an understanding of the various roles and responsibilities involved in a project. 5. Determine how to select a project to initiate. 6. Determine the composition of a project charter, which gives the project manager the authority to carry out a project. 7. Write a business case, requirements, and project charter.
