Elysium
Product’s Purpose:
The products purpose is to entertain and intrigue the listener
Genre:
Adventure and mystery
Content
The Product is a fiction podcast set in a cyberpunk style world that tells the story of a private
investigator who, when working on a case, stumbles upon evidence of corruption within the city’s
elite.
The story will be told from the perspective of the private investigator and will be structured like a
journal.
Characters will be voiced by different people who will bring unique flair to each of the characters,
this will make the world feel more populated and alive.
The use of a cyberpunk world is a good idea due to the fact that cyberpunk has had a massive
boom in popularity fairly recently.
Audience:
My primary audience is male aged 16 – 30, I chose this group as my primary audience as I think
they would best respond to the story and the world, males are typically seen to prefer adventure
style stories and I think they will better resonate with the protagonist due to them also being male.
My secondary audience is Women aged 16 – 30, I chose this group as my secondary
demographic as I believe that the story will be interesting to this audience primarily due to the
mystery aspect which will be a majority of the plot.
I believe this product could appeal to both lower and middle class due to the low barrier of entry (a
device that plays sound and an internet connection) the podcast could also be easily downloaded
in bulk if the listener doesn’t have a stable internet connection all of the time.
Legal & Ethical Considerations:
Although the show will not be too graphic there will be descriptions of crime scenes and scenes
with a lot of tension which may be offensive to some people, as a precaution to this every episode
will contain a small disclaimer warning the listener.
Age restricting podcasts is something that I don’t believe is currently possible on most if not all
apps that provide them, however in the aforementioned disclaimer I will state that the show may
not be suitable for people under the age of 16.
I will take care to make sure that the show does not alienate or offend any social groups, religions
or ethnicities and again the disclaimer at the start of the podcast will let the listener know what they
are potentially in for.
The show will take place within a science fiction world so there should be no use of real world
intellectual property or copywrite infringement and the story will be distinct from all of the media
that has inspired it although there is more risk with this setting than there would be with a more
rustic setting. Although if the working title is kept there could be some issues with copywrite.
