2. Story
York’s saddest ghost must be Marmaduke Buckle. He was multiply physically handicapped, a condition that in
the 17th century, when he was alive, allegedly led to him being accused of witchcraft. He spent most of his life
in the house on Goodramgate, until one day he could take no more.
Marmaduke carved his initials, birth date (1697) and that day’s date (1715) on a beam, and ended his short
tragic life by hanging himself from the beam. His ghost is alleged to still roam round both buildings, and his
presence has even been accused of trying to push somebody down the stairs in the pub next door, although
more usually he is said to close doors and turns lights on and off.
The oldest documented ghost story I’ve found for York dates back to the late 18th century. Author of The Life &
Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Laurence Sterne, lived for some years at 33 Stonegate, with the first two volumes
of his famous novel being published from number 35.
The house next door to his had been occupied by an aged gentleman who nightly feared he would be robbed
by intruders as he lay in his bed. To frighten them off, as the York Minster bells struck midnight, he banged his
walking stick against the wall next to his bed repeatedly, thinking to frighten off any would-be thieves.
After his death, the knocking was still reputedly heard. At number 35, the adjoining bedroom to Sterne’s is now
known as the Seance Room, and was a bedroom.
In our ancient City there is a ghost of a boy. He haunts several sites such as the inside or outside of old
Victorian buildings. Dirty and barefoot. A ragged child no more than 10 or 11 years old.
His presence is first felt by a stillness followed by a gust or a light breeze like the opening of an unseen door or
window. Then he appears, shocked to see you as you are to see him ,and then he is gone. In that brief moment
his stare is fiery and intense his story deep and sorrowful and his purpose unfulfilled.

It is a documentary/factual video, the video starts by introducing the viewers back to the channel, then it begins
telling the story by setting the scene, it doesn’t start telling us the storyline immediately first it builds up the tension
by giving the audience background knowledge. For example, telling the audience facts about the time period and
what the culture was like at the time, and how that would link to the conspiracy theories he was telling us about. The
way he explains the story is very detailed so we don’t miss out anything and also very descriptive, he uses a lot of
adjectives to help us paint a picture in our heads of what he is telling us. This will make the audience more committed
to the story because they can imagine what it was like. As well as this, the narrator isn’t just re-telling the story in a
factual way but he is also glorifying it by involving more dramatic key words and making little conspiracy theories that
can’t be proven sound as though they are defiantly real.
His explanation for the ghost story is centered around the natural world, this is because it will intrigue people as
weather is unpredictable and the idea that he is applying is that there is no greater power then weather and the
natural world because it is something that we as people have no control over which scares us.
He is telling a story from hundreds of years ago and this is effective to audiences because we have no way of proving
that something else happened because we were not there and if it follows the myths and legends of the time then no
one will argue it isn’t true because they can’t be sure.
In the video the narrators voice isn’t dramatized like in a drama audio it is a monotone, slightly computerized voice to
convey seriousness, as well as this there are no loud noises included to scare the audience it is taken seriously.
In the background throughout the video there is Sinister music, repeating notes on a piano, the music is quiet and not
off putting for the rest of the video but still plays a part of setting the scene.
He has done a lot of research, it contains a lot of information and facts that obviously spent a while to put together.

The Doctor Who audio doesn’t include factual information because the point of it isn’t to re-tell the
story it is meant to create it’s own story and scare the viewers. The way the script is written is
different to a documentary because in a documentary there wouldn't any pauses for dramatic
effects or background noises they would just concentrate on telling the story and the facts.
However the drama concentrates on making the audience enjoy what they’re watching. If you were
re-telling a true story then you would perform it as a documentary and not a drama audio because
the comedy and dramatized storyline of a drama audio would mean the audience would interpret
it as a story and not take it seriously.
Unlike the LORE video, Doctor Who isn’t only reading their lines but they are acting them to add
dramatic effect for he audience to enjoy. Through the video there are simple background noises,
e.g. breathing, or the sound of footsteps, used to keep the audio never silent. The producers have
created an intense setting by including a lot of theatrical sound effects and other cinematic
features, for example, during this particular clip there was loud background music at the cliffhanger
moment creating tension. There are screams from characters and the sound of terror in their
voices adds more stress to the audience. The voices and accents are loud and dramatic, they are
clearly acting for an audience, not re-telling a calm documentary.

The Archers is a radio series played on BBC Radio 1 it is about a family on the farm and then their
friends and family. The episodes are 30 minutes each and each episode includes a different story
line with new issues that the characters and farm face.
The episode opens with a catchy theme tune which audiences will recognize. The program is
unlike either of the other audios I have analyzed because it only people reading a script, there is
no real acting involved as the show isn’t very dramatic but it still uses sound effects in the
background to create the illusion that it is a normal, everyday family. The producers have
successfully created a relaxed atmosphere with the show by creating tame characters.
There program is like a television show just without the visual aid, it emphasizes the background
noises, like the slamming of a door or the anger in an actors voice is heightened so that we can
hear heir emotions instead of seeing them, so that the audience knows what’s going on. There
are a lot of sighs and shuffling noises making the show seem more realistic, by including normal,
everyday sounds.
7. Idea Generation/Initial Reaction
When we were first given the brief I was intrigued to see how all of our classes would create different versions of the
same concept. I thought there was only so much variation that could differentiate all our audios. But after
understanding the brief more and listening to example audios I know the different types of audio, like documentary,
drama or factual, and also after doing research and discovering lots of different ghost stories and myths/legends that
can be used I understand that all the audios will be completely different.
I think the most interesting audio to produce would be a dramatized re-telling of the ghost story because with that
you can introduce sound effects in the background, and music that would fit into the story and set the scene.
Although a documentary/factual audio would also be interesting to create as long as I could find enough facts and
details to make the audio effective and the ghost story believable.
With the project only being one-two minutes long I need to find a ghost story that is still interesting but doesn’t have
a long backstory that would need time to be explained. Firstly I searched ghost stories and found a website of
Scottish myths and legends which contained multiple ghost stories. I don’t think any of the stories were gripping
enough to compel an audience into believing in ghosts, or the story so I decided to search ghost sighting instead of
stories. Through searching for sightings there was more results because a lot of people believe in ghosts and daily
there are new sightings.
I kept in mind that with the story I would have to create sound effects to go with it, so I would pay more close
attention to a story that contained a lot of potential background noises. Just in case I chose a story and I just re-told
the story with no dramatic effect.
Then I thought of an idea I could have about a returning radio show featuring York and it’s own ghost sightings. I
created a mind map below surrounding this idea.
8. Proposal
Working Title:
Yorks Ghosts’
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience:
My audience would be all genders, I don’t think that whether you are male or female it makes a difference to whether they
like horror, or ghosts I think it is just dependent on personal preference so my audio will be aimed a both male and female.
My age group will be targeted at age 15 until about 50 because the ghost stories included would be scary and any younger
audiences might be scared and I think that ghost stories are interesting to everyone but I think that people above the age of
50 aren’t as interested as the younger audiences.
My radio program would be played on channels like radio 4, and local channels like York radio or minster fm.
However, when I was doing research on the audience for radio 4 I found out that the channel is more popular among baby
boomers. Baby boomers have a 40% positive reaction to the channel, where as millennials or generation X have less then 30%
positive reaction. So I think that radio 4 might not be the right channel for my program. However, I did find that Capital Xtra
radio channel’s audience is a 48% positive opinion from millennials which would suit my target audience. But after looking at
the schedule the programs featured on the channel are dominantly music so my program would not fit. I think for my channel
the best fit would be York radio as the audience most interested would be people who live in York and will know the places
that would be referred to.
With the psychographics I think the interests of the audience would have to be interested in scary things, with an interest in
ghosts or haunting stories , unexplained occurrences, and sightings and stories with unpredictable endings. The audiences
attitude towards ghost would have to be positive, if they didn’t believe in ghosts before listening to the program then they
won’t be interested in the stories as they won’t believe it.
My project would appeal to this type of person because it will approach people that are interested in dark stories that would
leave you questioning what happened.
9. Proposal
The concept for my project is going to be a one or two minute long
program including three short ghosts stories. I’ve decided to do more
then one story because I want to keep the listeners interested, so I
thought if I included one story then if the listener wasn’t interested or
didn't believe it then they would turn of the show. But with more then
one story it keeps the audience engaged. I also think that my making my
channels main target audience York is rave because it rules out a large
audience, but I think that by making it specific for York it will create a
more loyal audience, who will be more likely to return to the show and
watch it regularly. As well as this, the stories will still be interesting and
therefore anyone can listen who isn’t from York but it just means that if
you are from York you can relate to the stories and a deeper level.
For my research I looked at similar You Tube and radio channels like he
program I want to create. I found a very popular channel on You Tube
called Buzz Feed Unsolved. Which is a channel that features two men
who re-tell unsolved causes in the past, they create theories for what
could've happened. The channel is informal and comedic which
introduces a younger audience, who don’t only watch the series for the
unsolved causes but to enjoy the witty and sarcastic comments. This will
help me with my project because I understand more now how to
structure my video. I also looked at other documentary and factual audio
videos to understand how you tell a ghost story without visual aids, that
helped a lot because I know that you need to explain in more detail and
sound effects make the audio more effective.
10. Script
York is said to be one of England's most haunted cities, care to spare two minutes just with us to find out whether all the rumors are true ... If
you can stand to listen all the way through, Were going to go through the old ghost stories from York Town.
We’ll start off in the deep end with one of our oldest documented ghost story, it goes back to the 18th century.
With a story about writer Laurence Sterne, he lived in 35 Stonegate.
Next door at 33 lived a mysterious man who believed each night he would be robbed so lay awake in bed and hit his wall repeatedly with his
walking stick thinking it would scare away thieves.
After his unexpected death, it is believed that you can still hear the repetitive banging on the wall.
So if you hear the *tap tap tap* around Stonegate you now know what it is ..
Our next ghost sighting is the sinister visiting of a fragmented boy aged only 10 or 11.
He usually haunts old Victorian buildings around the town.
He roams with dirty and bare feet, and with his presence he brings an element of tranquillity along side with anguish.
You’ll know he’s there because when he arrives there is a gust or a light breeze, like the opening of an unseen door or window.
Then he emerges out of no where, appearing briefly in front of you, with the look of forlorn in his eyes, he radiates the aura of abandonment
and emptiness.
Our final story must be York’s most bitter, but be warned it doesn’t have a happy ending
A Steve Roughly was performing his bagpipes in a working mans club opposite St Lawrence church for the first time,
When he began to play he felt he wasn’t alone
He was aware of an omnipresent, dark presence with him
When he started to perform his last song there was a vigorous gust of wind which filled the room, shaking decorations and exploding the
lights.
The presence Steve Roughly felt was the spirit of James Reid who was imprisoned in York for treason, when in fact he was guilty for nothing,
all he was doing was playing his bag pipes, but judges argued his bag pipes were used as weapons.
He was then condemned for death, this ruling appears unique in history due to the wrong accusation.
In November 1746 he was hung and quartered.
It’s believed his body parts were displayed on Walmgate Bar opposite St Lawrence church, where Steve first practiced his pipes.
That brings us to the end of this weeks York’s Ghosts.

15. Research
To fully understand the task and how to make our projects as successful as possible we had to research different types of
audios. We started the project by learning about the ways we can produce the audios, the options that would be most
effective for our project were audio drama or documentary/factual. These types of audio contained a lot of possible branches
that I could choose to do for my project, for example, with documentary/factual it could be created through the form of a
podcast, an interview or a re-telling of the story. With a drama audio it could be a dramatic reading or a dramatized script
using characters to tell the story.
In detail we research each type of audio looking at the advantages and disadvantages of doing each type, doing this research
helped because it helped me decide which audio to use for my final project but also showed me what features I could use to
include in my own audio. After I had researched each type of audio I decided which one I would take further to the next stage
of my project. I decided to do a podcast-audio drama as I thought I could create the best out come through this type of audio.
I took inspiration from the LORE documentary You Tube videos for my final product.
I found this research section quite difficult because although I found it interesting to listen to and take inspiration from I
struggled at analysing them. I think I might’ve struggled because I didn’t listen to the audios till the end. To listen to all the
videos would have been very time consuming so I thought that if I only listened to parts of each video I would still be able to
understand how the different types portray their stories.
So if I could go back to my research proportion of the project I would make sure I listened to all the audios and made detailed
notes about each one. If I had done this it would of helped my project be the best that it could’ve been as I would’ve been
able to pick up other features that the videos included and I could’ve combined some of the techniques in my audio.
16. PlanningFor my planning I generated different ideas and wrote about how I interpreted the project, this helped me understand what I needed to do and
how I needed to start planning the project. I decided to create a mind map as a part of my planning so that I could see my ideas set out in a
different, simpler way. This way I could see how my ideas could link together.
A strength of my planning was that it was detailed. I spent time researching, using different websites and therefore had a range of ideas that I
could’ve used for my final project. I used a vary of websites to find interesting and different stories. I researched the ghost walk York stories as I
know that the York Ghost Walk is very popular so I was interested in reading their stories with the idea of adapting them for my program. I also
used a website with fake ghost stories made to scare people, although these stories were interesting I was interested in using more realistic
stories. I also found a website containing Scottish myths and legends which contained a range of stories I could’ve used. I then researched York
ghost stories and found a website containing York ghost sightings and stories. Using multiple websites to find my stories helped my project
because instead of using the first ghost story/sighting I had seen I spent time looking for stories that I would be more motivated create a script for
and that I could see myself bringing to life through a podcast or documentary audio.
A weakness of my research is that although I looked at a wide range of different stories I didn’t look at the stories in a lot of detail and I didn’t
make enough notes about the potential stories. If I had made mind maps for all of my ideas then I would have more research to show. I wish I had
used my time differently but I’m also glad that I had the opportunity to research a lot of stories to make sure that I was happiest with the one I
chose.
My second part of planning was writing my proposal. My proposal was written after I had decided how I wanted to create and produce my audio.
My proposal was successful because I wrote in detail about who my target audience would be, how I would attract them and then what radio
channel I would have to use that my target audience listened to. To find out which radio channel would be right for my program I used a website
called YouGov.co.uk which I have used before in past research for different projects. It is a reliable site that if you search a brand or program it will
show you the demographics of the audience and other information about the audience. I used it to see which radio program would be suitable for
my target audience. Looking back through my proposal I wish I had of wrote about the potential audience in posting the audio to YouTube
because although radio is a good way to stream my program YouTube is increasingly getting more popular especially for a younger audience. With
radio programs it means that the audience has to be listening at the right time and on the right channel but with You Tube you can access it
anytime. Although over all I think my proposal is successful as it involves all the information I need to create my project.
My next part of planning was putting my script together. For my script I included three ghost stories/sightings. I was planning on having three
stories in the audio but during production I decided it sounded more effective with two stories and with three stories I had exceeded the time
limit so it sounded rushed. My script was a documentary audio so I didn’t have to create a script from nothing I could use the storyline of the
stories and then adapt them and interpret them in my own way so it was my version of the story. Writing my script was hard because I had to
think about whether I needed to any include dramatic pauses to add effect. I also had to think about the order of stories and how much time I had
for each one. So during the script process there was a lot of planning that needed to be included.
I think a strength of my script is the structure. The script has a clear beginning, middle and end, it doesn’t jump around it guides listeners through
the audio, building tension through out. I start of with the least scary story as I found out in my earlier research it is more effective to start with
the less scary because then it builds up the audience so they are already on edge by the time of the last story. This helped my project because it
made it more put together and professional. However I think a weakness to my script could be that I should have introduced more of my own
writing. I did create the script but I think for artistic license I should’ve adapted the stories more, changing subtle factors to make it the stories
more interesting and believable. I also think I could’ve made some of the stories shorter so that I could’ve included a longer final paragraph, I
think it would have looked more professional if I had included some lines about the next program or if I had included an email address that
audiences could get in touch with to send their own stories. This would of made my audio more organized and more put together.
17. Time ManagementI think my time management throughout the project was controlled quite well but for some sections it could of been
handled better if I had more planning. Firstly, with research we only had a few hours to watch and analyse other types of
drama/documentary audios but I think that was a good amount of time as it meant we could analyse the different types of
video but we didn’t waste too much time just researching.
Because I didn’t have enough time to plan this in enough detail I wasn’t able to create as many Foley sounds as I wanted to.
At the beginning of the project I did have to finish some of my work at home because I thought that we weren’t given
enough time to complete it in to the best standard in lesson.
With additional time I think my product would have improved, because if not that would mean that I’m saying it’s the best it
could’ve been when I think that there was room for improvement in my end product. With more time I could’ve done more
research into Foley sounds, I watched the video that was given to us but that’s as far as my research on Foley sounds was
due to time restrictions. if I had more time then I would’ve been able to research more about the idea of Foley sounds and
how to create specific noises that would’ve improved my final product. During my planning I had time to create a list of the
sounds I wanted to include and how I planned on creating them but if I had watched more videos and found more
information about how to create the sounds then it would’ve made my video more effective and the realistic sounds
would’ve added tension to my stories and inciting the listener.
The time management for my script should have been planned better because when I recorded the audio it was too long. I
didn’t practise it before recording so if I had known that my script was too long then I wouldn’t of wasted time recording
lines that weren’t included in the final product. Because I didn’t plan the timings in my audio I had to delete one of the ghost
stories that I had planned to include. I also wasted more time editing this story and including sound effects for it before I
decided to delete it. This was the worst part of my time management because it could’ve been easily avoided if I had just
planned ahead. The time I spent editing the story could have been spent on editing the audio to make it more seamless.
I created my audio project on time and completed the research and planning sections on time. With more time I could’ve
included more detail but with finishing some sections of at home it meant that I still completed them. I think my audio
could’ve improved with additional time because I did finish it but if I had gone through it and made sure that all the
recordings were seamless then it would make a big difference to my end product.
If I had more time for the project I would include more of a detailed analysis on my Foley sounds research so that I
understood how to create the sounds and what I could of used them for in my project. I also would’ve planned my script in
more detail. I probably would of made it sound more informal and used indirect speech so that it was more casual and
friendly with the audience. I also would’ve gone through my audio. However, in spite of this I think that I managed quite well
with the time we were given to complete the project. Overall time management is something I struggled with but it didn’t
affect the outcome of my project.
18. Technical QualitiesMy audio follows the format of You Tube video LORE. LORE uses informal and indirect speech which creates a casual feeling which will make the audience feel
less on edge and be able to relax while listening. I’ve tried to include the same aspect in my audio where the voice telling the story isn’t robotic or
computerised, like a podcast not a documentary. The LORE video goes into more detail then my video but due to the time limit I had on my audio I wasn’t
able to incorporate a lot of extra facts and details. However due to the LORE video being more factual it makes the podcast more like a documentary, whereas
my podcast isn’t factual because it’s meant to be more scary. Another reason that LORE’s audio follows the structure of a documentary is because it doesn’t
involve background music or sound effects. This is different to my audio as the background music and effects are one of the most important factors because
they build the story and create tension making it scarier. My audio and the LORE audio are both scripted using the same structure, an introduction, story , and
then a final paragraph ending the audio.
My audio doesn’t share many similarities with the Archers radio series. The style of audio is different as The Archers includes different characters and
storylines each episode. The use of sound effects in the background is very similar to my audio. The archers includes diegetic sounds to make the program
seem more realistic however my audio contains diegetic sounds to add dramatic effects. The two audios grab audiences attention in two different ways as
they are two different types of audio, The Archers is a soap opera style radio program with a structured script and will have a whole episode building up to
family drama, with arguments and unexpected turnings but my audio is a podcast/drama which has a less scripted approach to make my audience feel more
relaxed, my audio immediately sets the tone as tense from the start of the video.
The editing process is where it was most complicated as we had to put all the clips we had recorded together, including all the sounds. I began by introducing
background music, because I think the music is one of the most important factors as it sets the tone of the advert. The audience will understand what the
program is through the music that plays in the background. To include the sounds I listened through the recordings and then decided where the right place
would be to add dramatic effect. When putting in the sound effects I had to make sure that the sounds wouldn’t effect the volume of the main speaking,
however during the audio some sounds needed to be louder for emphasis, also some sounds that I downloaded from the internet were to loud and over
powering so during editing I used the ‘audio gain’ tool. This is where you can change the decibels by a specific amount to make the sound the right volume. I
used this throughout my project because if the volume fluctuated then it would be unprofessional.
For my recordings I used my phone as I thought it would be easier because I know how to use it and it was available to me whenever I needed it. I began
filming on camera then swapped to voice memos for a clearer sound. I recorded in different places to see where the best sound outcome would be, I had
to find a quiet place in College where no one was likely to walk past and interrupt, but also somewhere that didn’t echo and wouldn’t pick up
background sound. A classroom would be the easiest idea however as my whole class went to start recording at the same time it was hard to find an
empty classroom that we were allowed to use. I attempted filming on a set of stairs at the side of the college but this wasn’t successful because the
sound echoed and didn’t pick up as clearly as it could of. Also recording on the stairs left my vulnerable to people walking past. In the college there is a
staircase and then before you go out to the corridor there is a box which is secured by two heavy doors, it is usually used in case of a fire but also worked
perfectly for my recording because due to the heavy weight doors any white noises couldn’t be heard in the background and the sound didn’t echo. I did
most of my filming here and then created extra sound effects in other places. I recorded my filming line by line, I thought this would make it easier in the
editing stage and this also gave me a chance to re-do a recording if I read it wrong, without having to delete the whole recording.
I used the Foley method to create some of my sound effects. It was hard for my product to use the Foley method because a lot of the sounds were hard
to create on my own, e.g. bagpipes. I created a heavy knocking noise using my water bottle then just hitting the desk which successfully created the
noise of a walking stick hitting the wall. Unfortunately this was a part of the story that had to be cut from my final product. I also created other noises,
for example for my second story I needed to create the sound of bare feet scampering , so I used my bare hand against a wall which did work
successfully. For the rest of my sound effects I had to download them from the internet to make my audio sound most effective.
19. Aural Qualities
Overall I am pleased with the outcome of my final product. Even though the main part of the product is the recoding I think that my
product sounds good due to the time I spent in editing because through the editing stage I could see the product carefully coming
together and sounding more professional as I included more sounds. In the editing stage I started with adding in the background
music to play through the whole video. I decided that I wanted to include an echoed sound that would create a mysterious spooky
background, originally I only planned to have one backing track but as I searched for my music-incase I found music that would be
better fitted for my audio- I found a downloadable creepy lullaby. When I listened to it I thought it would sound effective if I put both
the sound tracks against each other. I think that the audio isn’t overpowered by the backing music but I think sometimes when I’ve
recorder the line to quietly it can get slightly drowned out by the music. While recording I thought I had kept at the same volume, so
if I stated the project again I would make sure all recordings were filmed exactly the same. Also, to add dramatic effect for high
tension parts I included pauses, although this is simple it still work successfully. Pauses also make the audience on edge because they
want to hear the end of the story. If there aren’t any pauses for dramatic effect or for the audience to have time to understand the
story then the audio would just sound rushed and make the audio seem amateur.
Another aspect of my product that I like is the amount of sound effects I’ve included, seven sound effects, not including the
background music. I think this amount is perfect because it doesn’t make the audio sound cluttered, the audios need to be carefully
put together only putting sounds where necessary or where it will make the audio sound more effective. Also on the other hand
there isn’t too little sound effects. If there was under 5 then I think the audio would be boring and wouldn't captivate the audience.
However I wish I had created more Foley sounds because I only created 2. If I had created more then I would’ve been better at it for
the future but because I haven’t practiced the technique I still don’t know how to properly record or make the noises.
However, there are also aspects of my audio that I would like to improve. Firstly, at the begging during the introduction there is a
rustling noise in the background. I think it’s the sound of me moving my paper, this is frustrating as it devalues the quality of the
sound immediately making it less professional. This could’ve been avoided if I had just kept the paper on the floor. As well as this later
on in the audio there are parts of the script that sound jolted because I stuttered whilst reading the script so I tried to edit it out on
premiere by cutting the recordings but unfortunately this didn’t work and has made the audio sound rushed. If I could go back I
would defiantly record two recordings of each line so that I had back-up recordings in case something went wrong. This would’ve
made the audio seem more seamless.
Another weakness of my project is my voice. I think that the way I read the script was too monotone and if I had changed the pitch of
my voice throughout the audio then it would've created tension at certain points. After listening to the audio I think my voice sounds
de-motivated and bored, I should've used more energy whilst recording. Although I think overall my voice was satisfactory because in
editing the sound effects and background music create suspense which takes the focus away from my voice. Although this is an
aspect that I cant change.
20. Audience Appeal
My target audience is both male and female, C1 +, people who have a steady income because to access the program they
would need a radio or appliance to watch You Tube or access to Spotify to listen. To listen to the audio the audience would
already have to have an active interest in ghosts, and supernatural stories because my audio wont be advertised anywhere
so unless audiences are looking out for it then they wont be able to see it. So if they already have an interest in ghost
podcasts then on their You Tube recommended my audio would come up. And for the radio channel I wrote earlier in my
proposal about which radio channel would be most appropriate for my program.
Also my target audience would be the York community, Because the topic of the program revolves around York town and
the history of York I think I will successfully captivate York locals. Also, the program’s target audience includes tourists,
tourists coming to York will research the town before coming and the towns history. So if they search town history then
they will be interested in my ghosts of York audio, to find out more about the town but also to find interesting ‘haunted’
places to go.
My target audience is for people between 15-50, this is a wide age group but I think my video is appropriate for anyone
above the age of 15, because the program is simple and straight forward. I do think that recently a younger generation has
been interested in ghost sightings and unsolved mysteries so I think a large amount of viewers will be between 15- 25,
however the target audience is still between 15-50 due to the tourists that could be interested in York.
My program’s target audience is both men and women, the gender doesn’t affect anything it is purely based on personal
preference.
