This document discusses common issues that can occur on a PROFIBUS network and how to troubleshoot them using a PROFIBUS tester. It describes 7 typical cases: 1) Reversal of signal quality levels from opposite ends, indicating high line resistance between stations. 2) Gradual decline in signal quality from one station to the next, caused by signal reflections from missing termination. 3) Some stations appearing "missing" from one end but not the other, indicating a break in one or both signal lines. 4) Only one station having low signal quality, meaning its transmitter voltage is too low. 5) Low idle voltage indicating one or both terminations are not powered correctly.
