Types Of Strategies For Foreign Locations Essay
There are two types of strategies for foreign locations, a centralized location from which a facility
can serve the world market and a decentralized location where facilities are set up in various
regional or national locations close to major markets. A centralized location is chosen when there
is a substantial difference among various countries in manufacturing costs due to each country s
costs, political economy, and culture. It s preferred when trade barriers are low, exchange rates are
expected to remain stable, the product s value to weight ratio is high, and the product serves
universal needs. If the production technology used by the firm has high fixed costs and high
minimum efficient scale relative to global demand they can benefit from a centralized location.
Centralizing is also favored when externalities arise from the concentration of like enterprises that
favor certain locations. Conversely, decentralization is preferred when trade barriers are high,
location externalities aren t important, exchange rates are volatile, the product s value to weight
ratio is low, and the product does not serve universal needs. If production technology has low fixed
costs, low minimum efficient scale and flexible manufacturing technology is not available,
decentralizing is favored. Decentralization is also chosen if manufacturing costs in various
countries are not substantially impacted by differences in factor costs, political economy, and
culture. There are

What does that even say? Is that a 6 or an 8? Geez, I really need glasses. I raise my hand. Mr.

Contemporary Management Techniques For Business Process...
Contemporary Management Technique The travel division within Air Test and Evaluation
Squadron One coordinates individual and team travel, authorizes travel expenses, scrutinizes
government travel charge card (GTCC) use, and ensures proper allocation of 23 funding lines
totaling $1.17 million (C. Sacksen, personal communication, September 19, 2016). Taken from an
earlier analysis and evaluation project, the travel division team identified financial, customer,
internal, and learning critical success factors (CSFs) needed to gain greater efficiency and
effectiveness to reduce internal complacency and the threat of an external takeover (Hicks, 2010).
Although the division conducted a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats analysis to
ascertain the CSFs, there is room for process improvement. J. Estacio reported that implementing
the contemporary managementtechnique of business process improvement(BPI) could further aid
the travel division in reaching greater fidelity regarding the CSFs (personal communication,
October 3, 2016).
Contemporary Management Techniques Rationale The travel division is a customer oriented
service segment of the organization that must remain flexible in responding to rapid changes in the
personnel, itinerary, prioritization, appropriation, and fiscal environments. In this regard, the travel
division has internal and external customers. Although the team identified CSFs to increase
efficiency and effectiveness, applying BPIs can create

Shakti Chit And Prana Essay
Shakti, Chit, and Prana
Every act, every thought, every activity involves awareness, do these actions instinctively,
unconsciously, and without deliberateness and awareness is consumed in the maintenance of the
Self. Perform these acts deliberately and with impeccable Intent and one increases awareness.
Shakti, Chit, and Prana are terms that have interconnected meanings; Shakti (aether) is the most
subtle or pure of the forces and is the original source of Chit and Prana, while the latter is also the
power that flows through the Sri Yantra when activated. Shakti is often referred to as Spirit,
Divine Spirit, or Holy Spirit in western esoteric circles. In Hinduism in it is considered the
primordial cosmic energy representing the dynamic forces that are thought to move through the
entire universe, a divine feminine creative power, sometimes referred to as The Great Divine
Mother.
Concepts similar to Shakti, Chit, and Prana can be found in many cultures; for example, it is Prana
or vital air in yoga, Qi (Chi or Ch i) in Chinese culture, Mana in Hawaiian culture, LГјng in Tibetan
Buddhism, Ruah in Hebrew culture, and Vital Force, or Orgone energy in current Western esoteric

Reliability Of The Measurement Instrument Essay
4.3Reliability analysis To evaluate the reliability of the measurement instrument it was developed
an internal consistency analysis through Cronbach s alpha. It is an index that takes values between
0 and 1, used to verify if the instrument is reliable and performs stable and consistent measurements
(Santesmases, 2009). Cronbach s alpha estimates the lower limit of the reliability coefficient and it
is expressed through Formula 2. (2) Where k is the number of items in the test; Si2 is the items
variance (from 1...i) and S2sum is the total test variance. This means that the reliability depends on
the test length and the covariance among its items (Santesmases, 2009). It is important to mention
that it was decided to apply a pilot test to 40 customers, with the purpose of measuring the
questionnaire s internal consistency. In the first version, the test was integrated by 22 items
distributed in five dimensions and after being undergone to Cronbach s alpha validity test, the
instrument was redesigned to 20 items, as is shown in Graphic 4. Graphic 4. Items and dimensions

Ergot Poisoning Essay
In 1762, there were several documented deaths that were attributed to ergot poisoning from
contaminated grain. A farm laborer s wife and six children died after suffering terrible
symptoms such as blackened and rotting limbs. In 1951 in Pont Saint Esprit, France, there was
another such episode in which either ergot or LSD was implicated. In this small village, dozens
of people suffered violent delusions requiring restraints and hospitalization. Five people died. At
first, this outbreak was considered related to a possible fungal infection of local grain, but later
evidence showed that it could have been connected to something far more sinister. According to
an article from BBC News, a document from a CIA agent implied that the village may have
suffered from a public test of LSD that was produced in Sandoz Chemical, a few hundred
kilometers away. Despite the violent symptoms associated with ergot poisoning, the substance has
been used medicinally. It has been used to treat migraines and Parkinson s disease, and to induce
abortion. To generate ergot for medicinal purposes today, grain crops in the Czech republic,

Changes In The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby is a very accurate portrayal of the cultural and social changes during the 1920 s.
1929, the 19th Amendment has been passed, era of the flapper was strong, Jazz was popularized,
prohibition started, greed was more apparent, and morals were lost. The Great Gatsby and other

The 1920 s was a time of drastic political, social, and economic change. The 1920 s was a very

This book is about a love story about a man, a girl he loves and the things the man goes through
to reach his ultimate goal. The book portrays the 1920 s as a time of devalued social and moral
values. The main character Jay Gatsby experiences all the cynicism and greed that was present
during the time. The narrator Nick describes what the American Dream used to be, which was
all about discovery, happiness, and being an individual, before greed came into play. The book also
shows how the upper class Americans begin to see themselves as the elite. I like to come, Lucille

how greed affects people and how rich people start to not care about thing and become reckless

The New President Of The United States
Synopsis
In the article, the new president of the United States Donald Trump has made plans to temporarily
ban Muslims from entering this country. According to Huffington post, The reason behind Trump s
decision for the total shut down of Muslims entering the United States is until our country s
representatives can figure out what is going on (Goldberg, 2016). President Donald Trump
discussing his plan through the media has created a great opportunity for the radicalization of the
American Islamic population to become easier, which leads to the recruitment for Jihadist terror.

It is unconstitutional. The first amendment of the Bill of Rights says Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. Trump s Muslim
ban is the prohibition of free exercise of religion under the guise of a national security threat. In
addition, I think that the 90 day ban will assist Islamic extremists in the recruitment of more
people for their organizations. Donald Trump is the perfect villain to add justification to the
terrorist cause as they take advantage of the people from the banned countries. The people are
desperate. Their homes and lives have been destroyed by decades of war that the United States has
had a significant role in starting (Clark, 2011). Now the same people are being denied refuge from
the same country that is partly responsible for their displacement.

Rabbi Moshe Weinberger of YU s Stone Beit Medrish Program agrees that the balance between
traditional Judaic studies and spirituality is missing throughout a lot of the Modern Orthodox
community. The success of the most influential Modern Orthodox Jewish youth organizations,
NCSY and Bnei Akiva, are based upon characteristically Chassidic traditions, such as singing,
dancing, and storytelling. Of Course, the Modern Orthodox movement stresses the importance of
all singing, dancing, and storytelling, but not to the extent of the Chassidic movement. And I
believe that the success of NCSY and Bnei Akiva are due to focus on the characteristically
Chassidic traditions. Further, the culmination of the Rebbe s movement has led to what Rabbi
Moshe Weinberger calls the neo chassidus movement. This movement is popular among young
Modern Jewish Orthodoxy that have grown up having difficulty connecting with their spirituality.

normalization, by the society they live in, of the way these women are treated goes hand in hand
with the way men seem to discard them so easily, because in Song of Solomon the women are the
ones who get left behind. Morrison tries to break the stereotypical characterization of the women s
dependency on men, for instance by creating characters like Pilate who are more than capable to
break free.
In the novel it is noticeable that some of the women are those who seem to be unable to fly and
suffer the most at the hand of the characters who are able. They are trapped in their marriages,
crushed by heavy burdens and try to survive day by day. (Morrison, 1977) Some women seem to
be grounded and trapped on earth. They are obsessive and rely on the safe and familiar places
they have known their whole lives , for instance Ruth Foster Dead, she is milkman s mother and
the daughter of the first negro doctor in town. (Morrison, 1977) Ruth has been mentally abused by

Texas Battle For Independence And Juan Seguin Essay
Texas Battle for Independence and Juan Seguin The battle for Texas independence was a hard
battle. Many lives were taken, home destroyed, and families were torn apart. Texas residents
wanted to break away from Mexico and become a self governing republic inside of Mexico because
they did not like Santa Anna s laws. Mexico did not allow slave immigration, so Texaswanted to be
a part of the United Statesthat allowed slavery. But the main reason was that Mexico would not
change or consider any government ideas that the Anglos and Mexicans had for Texas, and resulted
in Santa Anna ruling and making all the laws and decisions. Santa Anna also overthrew the
Mexican government and made himself the Mexican dictator. Stephen Austin came to try and settle
the trouble caused by the suggestion of Texas constitution, but instead Santa Anna imprisoned him
for a year. The Texas Revolutionfor its independence took place from October 2, 1835, to April 21,
1836. The revolution started with the rejection of their constitution and then the first shots fired at
Gonzales, continued with the Battles of Goliad and Concepcion, the Siege of Bexar and ended with
the Battle of San Jacinto. The Battle of San Jacinto was a short fight, lasting only 6 minutes, but it
was the most important and memorable fight. Although the revolution was shorter than most wars
in history, it was one of the most important fights in Texas history. The revolution helped Texas gain

Summary Of The Song Changes By Charles Bradley
Changes by Charles Bradley is a song that resonates with me as a song that triggers an emotional
response. The song was first released in 2013 and is a cover of the 1972 band Black Sabbath
(Cory, 2017). It is apparent by the title that the topic for the song is the changes that the artist is
going through or has gone through in his life. At the very beginning of the song, Bradley says
She was my woman. I loved her so. But it s too late now. I ve let her go... But soon the world. Had
its evil way , which illustrates the loss of a partner but is still ambiguous in how he lost her but
one can infer it was due to death (Cory, 2017). Now, any time a song refers to the death of a loved
one, it is easy to sympathize with because we have all lost... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When I first heard the song, I immediately searched for it on the internet and listened to the
whole version because I thought it was such a powerful song. The lyrics of the song tell a story,
it is one of pain and sorrow, but it s a story that I think everyone can relate to. The lyrics are very
simple and they all come together to form a detailed depiction of Bradley s emotions. When I
hear Bradley sing about his loss, it triggers me into thinking about the loved ones that I have lost.
The rhythm of the song is very slow pace and calm, which sets the mood for Bradley s gritty deep
voice, but when the chorus hits, then the saxophone jumps in to excite the whole song. The beat is
soft enough to induce a deep thought and when the chorus hits, you do not get the usual sense of
excitement but rather one of contempt delight. Lastly, the artist is another thing that triggers a
Dionysian response for me, the reason being that Bradley looks just like my grandfather that
passed about a year ago. Every time I see Bradley, I think of my grandfather and all of the time I
spent with him, not to mention that the author s last name matches that of my family. Overall, I
would say that the emotional response that I get when I hear this song is one of blissfulness and

Company Overview Are you a Coca Cola or Pepsi person? Well I personally prefer Coca Cola. In

syrup with carbonated water to get a final product ready for sampling. The people who sampled
his creation said that it was excellent. Frank M. Robinson is recognized for giving Pemberton s

Coca Cola now has a net worth that is well into the billions of dollars. What keeps Coca Cola
running and growing is the constant, strategic marketing skills needed to keep any successful
company at the top. Overview of Major Product Coca Cola is the cool fizzy drink on a hot day
many people long for. It is one of the top products of this ever changing world. I chose Coca Cola
because it is a gigantic, world renowned product. Coca Cola also has another major competitor,
Pepsi. I thought it would be very interesting to see how Coca Cola tries to complete with Pepsi. Our
customers include hypermarkets, supermarkets, discounters, kiosks, petrol stations, cinemas,
leisure parks, hotels, restaurants and cafГ©s, among others. The customers are a core value of
Coca Cola. Coca Cola tries their best to work together with customers to be the customer s first
choice ( Customers, n.d.). To be the customer s first choice, Coca Cola not only has to worry about
their taste. Coca Cola must focus on availability, affordability, acceptability, activation, and attitude.
Being a great company with a great product goes far beyond just the product. I think that the most
important attributes that Coca Cola focuses on outside of the product itself would be availability,
affordability, and attitude. Customers today want something easy to access, they want to work
smarter, not harder. If prices are unreasonable, that is an automatic turn

The Rise in Apathy, Cheating and Plagiarism Understanding the Problem
Over the past ten years teachers have witnessed a drop in student preparation and a rise in apathy
and cheating. Students who cheat do so from a variety of motives. Making this situation even more
difficult is that faculty members do not even define plagiarism the same or punish it consistently
(Howard, Sexuality 473). Some surveys even show that teachers simply ignore the problem or do
not report plagiarism because: they do not want to be bothered, because they think only the student
who cheated is actually harmed, or because of the unpleasant bureaucracy and documentation
ramifications (Moeck 484). Alschuler and Blimling add to this list the fear ... Show more content on

Conventional wisdom of the time believed that students learned to write well and think better by
becoming acquainted with the works of great writers and thinkers. Only by showing a mastery of
the masters could one establish authorial authority, and because the author s audience knew the
masters too, the student had no need to cite sources (Howard, Plagiarisms 788).
It isn t until the late 17th Century that British authors begin hurling the accusation of plagiarist
at each other. Ideologically this makes sense because after the fall of Rome, Western Europe fell
into a dark age. Not until the Renaissance do we see another spurt of humanism that marked the
great classic periods of Greece and Rome. Before the invention of the printing press, the rise in
literacy, and the focus on humans as perfectible creations who can create important works by
themselves, there was very little need for authorial ownership. In the Renaissance, associating an
author s name with a work was generally tied to prosecution for blasphemy and libel (Hammond
23). Authorship could only develop as a profession when it became respectable for individuals to
live off their wits (23). Not until 1709 do we find the first copyright law protecting ownership
rights, and this did not solve the thorny problem of intellectual property and how to protect an idea
(36 37).
In the Romantic Period, a major shift in thought occurred. The Romantics prized individuality and

The Greek economy was defined by their trading networks. A trader class began to develop
alongside the artisan class in most of the early civilisations. Trading networks were extensive
and well established, there was a spread of trade across the subcontinent and beyond. The small
cities of Greece were used as trading posts. This was introduced as they needed trade to feed the
people of Athens as their population was growing, they had a vast trading empire across the
Mediterranean. One main source of trade was pottery, pottery was exported from the Athens to
others to allow them to make money. Pottery was important as it was also used to store other
sources of trade, for example, wine and wheats. This helped spread the Greek culture beyond the
Mediterranean, into other parts of the world. The rulers wanted new luxury goods and better
armaments, and encouraged crafts like carpentry, metal smelting, spinning, weaving and dyeing
(Osborne, 2007, p. 33). This would allow their economy to be more advanced and to allow trade
better to make profits. However, being able to trade came with consequences leaving Greeks to
walk long and dangerous journeys in order for them to be able to trade. One important factor that
helped their economy was slaves. The slaves were drawn from conquest and traded across the

The Destruction Of American Society In The 19th Century
Society is a structure that besieges every individual. Its daunting presence is inescapable.
Throughout the 19th century, the American people were trapped in a rapidly industrializing nation
flooded with corruption and greed. A few crucial advancements did result from this tumult, such as
the invention of the lightbulb and the integration of women into the working class. However, these
advancements, while substantial, did little to make up for the distressing state American society
was in. Pollution prowled the streets, and crime levels were colossal. Big businesses would stop at
nothing to gain power and profits. Shortly following the close of the 19th centurywas the Great
Depression; a time of immeasurable poverty and suffering. In Eric... Show more content on

Many immigrants and rural inhabitants fled to urban areas in search of any job that would
provide them with a salary. Finding a job was onerous, as there were too few jobs available to
fulfil the demands of the growing population. Cities became flooded with the unemployed.
Likewise, as more and more companies failed, thousands of families lost their only source of
income. Due to economic constraints, layoffs and wage cuts became routine. It seemed as if
employment was always temporary; it provided a brief glimpse of relief before it was snatched
away by the claws of society. Eventually, even Burnham, a man with a reputation for being an
honorable employer, had to join the trend and let many of his employees go. When the Chicago
World s Fair officially closed, over ten thousand jobs disappeared. Burnham knew that, The
dismissed men... faced homelessness and poverty; their families confronted the real prospect of
starvation (Larson 155). Within the last several centuries, American society had evolved in such
a way that a job was necessary for survival. Money provided all the basic needs. Because farming
was difficult in crowded and polluted cities, nearly all people relied on their wages to provide
food for their families. In addition to food, money provided housing, clothing, and education.
Without salary, families were faced with a survival burden. They struggled to pay the bills they
owed, and place food upon the table. The prospect of starvation was extremely present, yet there
was little meaningful effort to improve these conditions. Workers continued to be paid minimal
wages, and get laid off. The employers knew what lay ahead for their newly unemployed workers,
but they made little effort to change their fates. The government did not provide much support to its
poverty struck citizens. Consequently, all of society suffered. In the midst of

What Is The Ideology Of True Love In Romeo And Juliet
William Shakespeare was a playwright and author in the 16th and 17th centuries, with at least 37
plays and 154 sonnets to his name. His many works span in genre and form, from the tragedy of
Romeo and Juliet to the poem of a father s unconditional love and eventual acceptance of a loved
one s death. Through a vast variety of linguistic and structural techniques, he is able to promote,
develop and explain his personal ideology of love. Evidence of this is seen through the character of
Romeo in Romeo and Juliet and the narrative voice in a selection of sonnets.
Within sonnet 116, Shakespeare personifies the abstract noun of love when he states Whose worth s
unknown . Through personifying his ideology of true love, it makes it increasingly ... Show more

Through isolating that line, it not only emphasises its importance as a statement, with summer
being a metaphor for his son, and thus showing pure paternal love; but also the importance of
the new tone, pride. The word But , although with negative connotations, is used to positively
emphasise the importance of the new phase of acceptance of his son s death, and the
continuation of his paternal love. It is through this line that Shakespeare goes on to explain how
his love for his son will never diminish, as it is immortalised, along with his son, in the poem.
This is the act of creating an autotelic memorial in that the poem will never fade away, ever
when the writer dies. Due to this, Shakespeare is able to show that his concept of love, no matter
what form it is in, is so strong and true that it is infinite and can overcome all obstacles, even
death itself. To a 16th century reader, the concept of love taking many forms and overcoming even
death was unconventional, as it contrasted greatly to the accepted ideal of courtly love, which was
limited and weak. To a modern day reader, whose greatest fear is death; being told love overcomes
death reassures them of its strength. This promotes Shakespeare s ideology, especially through
contrast in the

I Am Passionate About Food
Exploratory Essay
A majority of individuals that inhabit this universe were not born with a talent. I, unfortunately was
no exception. I grew up stumbling through different sports teams and art classes. From playing
games of softball to attending pottery classes, nothing really stuck to me. I was beginning to doubt
I would ever find anything I was truly passionate about until recently. I have realized that I am
passionate about food. Not just eating it, but also studying it as it is processed though the body. I
was initially introduced to nutrition through my own poor eating habits. I was on the verge of
becoming obese when visited a Nutritionist. I was very overwhelmed with my diet changes at first,
but then became amazed at how much better I felt mentally and physically. I was so inspired by
this that I decided that becoming a Nutritionist would be something that I want to do for a living.
The quizzes from The College Foundation of North Carolina seemed to support my decisions as
well, making me even more confident to pursue a career doing my passion.
Even though making a decision about what I want to do for the rest of my life is an enormous deal,
I am confident that becoming a nutritionist is the goal in my educational plan. I am an extremely
indecisive individual, but the passion I encompass for living a healthy lifestyle through food is
enough to make me determined to pursue this career. As of right now I am pursuing an Associates

The Rise And Fall Of Egyptian Independence
INTRODUCTION
Egypt was formally incorporated into the Roman Empire in 30BC resulting in the loss of Egyptian
independence. Egypt had experienced years of political upheaval owing to sibling rivalry and
native unrest (Wilkinson, 2010), well before Rome was interested in seizing the country. This
allowed for the weakening of the country, which consequentially made it easily conquered.
However, Egypt s loss of independence was ultimately prompted by the relationship between
Cleopatra VII and Marc Anthony therefore making it the immediate catalyst (Jankowski, 2000).
When analyzing to what extent was the relationship between Cleopatra VII and Marc Anthony the
catalyst for the loss of Egyptian independence in 30BC the aim is to extract scholarly research
findings that relate specifically to the research question and thus assist with an examination of the
aforementioned question.

explored and engaged in the use of multiple assessments to gather both formative and summative
data to check for student knowledge of the standards. As stated by Bransford (1999), Assessment
should mirror good instruction; happen continuously as part of instruction; and provide information
about the levels of understanding that students are reaching. Any type of assessment is an
important assessment that helps teachers assess students whether it is a formative or summative

On the other hand, Summative assessments are an assessments OF student learning. When I say
OF student learning I mean, an assessment over a unit, particular skill or standard a teacher needs
to assess AFTER her teaching is completed. For example, tests, projects, EOCT, GMAS and other
standardized tests are summative assessments. Tomlinson (2013) explains that, summative
assessment suggests that a grade will be given and a student s performance will be evaluated
based, to some degree, on the information elicited. As stated previously, summative assessments are
taken for a grade to assess a student s knowledge OF the standards. These assessments also help us
see which students got where we needed them to be. Although both assessments are different in
many ways, they both have a purpose in a classroom especially when differentiating. According to
Teaching Tolerance (2016) Differentiated Instruction (DI) is an approach where teachers
proactively plan varied approaches to what students need to learn, how they will learn it and how
they express what they ve learned. Assessments are a way to help teachers differentiate by flexible
grouping to focus on a particular skill or group students who are on the same level. In relation to the
previous statement, Tomlinson and Moon (2013) state that, Understanding the mutuality that

How Technology Has Changed Us
Technology has evolved rapidly in previous years, making the completion of task more
convenient. In order to effectively highlight convenience to consumers, data security must come
into consideration. The transition from swipe/PIN cards to contactless has introduced yet also
removed security issues. Swipe cards use a magnetic stripe containing the necessary banking
details, found on the back of the card. These types of swipe cards are outdated and have been
upgraded with chips, which provide better security of data through complex encryption. The
widely accepted method of two factor authentication utilises this chip as well as a PIN that the
card owner knows which strengthens the security design. Contactless cards have an embedded
RFID chip having similar functionality to those found commonly in PIN/Swipe chip cards.
These chips emit radio waves instead of requiring the user to dip/swipe their card. The card is
placed near an electromagnetic field emitted by a card reading terminal allowing the transfer of
encrypted data to authenticate the transaction. Compared to contactless cards, magnetic stripe
swipe cards can be easily exploited as the information stored on the magnetic stripe is static. This
means it can be cloned onto a fake card, giving it the same credentials and allowing unauthorised
use. The low level of security of magnetic stripe swipe cards is also highlighted by the fact that the
user merely has to sign after the transaction. Whereas the chip found in PIN

notice that the importance of followership has been undermined by academics (Uhl Bien, Riggio,
Lowe, Carsten, 2014). The followers behaviors affect the leaders behaviors, and vice versa,
therefore it is beneficial to managers to understand followership theories.
Followership is the study of the nature and impact of followers in the leadership process (Uhl Bien
et al.). It is interesting to notice that followership has a negative connotation in today s society,
as it is mistakenly considered as the simple ability to follow the directions of people in charge.
The term follower is linked to a passive, weak, conforming, and negative image (insert Bjugstad,
Thach, Thompson, Morris, 2006); therefore, individuals in organizations avoid being labeled as
followers. In contrast, the term leadership has appeal and is linked to positive images which
increase the motivations to be leaders instead of followers. However, individuals in organizations
are very likely to play both roles (as he/she has both bosses and subordinates) so the ability to be
effective followers is vital to the success of the organization.
Qualities of Followers
Robert Kelley (1988) identified four essential characteristics of positive followers:
пѓ Self Management: Effective followers must be independent and have

Popular Culture Film And Music
Popular culture film and music has long since been awash with drug references and imagery. The
context of these references has majorly affected the way in which they are received and perceived
by the wider public, expressly in times of social or political change and unrest. The context in which
these images and sounds are being interpreted affect the response to racial vilification,
representation, along with gender roles and stereotypes. Conventional practice in the entertainment
industries has developed over time but drugs, their users and dealers, including the consumption
and production, continue to be portrayed in a mainly negative light, showing the complexity of this
particular social process.
Context, being the time and place in which the medium is being produced, assumes a major
responsibility in the portrayal of drugs themselves, the user, the dealer and the trafficker. Zinberg s
(1984) description of drug use as drug, set and setting presents strongly in the notion of context.
This is evident in the portrayal of a drug on screen as it becomes increasingly popular amongst the
public. Social and political changes affect usage and its representation of drugs in a community
and the wider world. The 1960s and 70s saw a hippie, anti establishment counterculture emerge and
with this came an expansion of drug culture. Music and videos released at this time by The Beatles
such as the psychedelic Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds video (1967) and much of the 1967 album,

Araby And Eveline Research Paper
James Joyce s Dubliners is an array of different short stories. Eveline and Araby are two of Joyce
s short stories that are widely appreciated for their literary values. These two short stories, Eveline
and Araby , are very similar in how both narrators seem to be in love with what characters that
seem to be somewhat distant. Eveline and Araby are also similar due to their failed attempts at
love, and the romantic illusions they have trapped themselves in. They are not entirely similar
however due to the fact that the boy in Araby understood he caused his own undoing, whereas in
Eveline , she did not blame herself. Also, the author, James Joycenotes that both protagonists in
these stories live in a brown house. The are also different because of the perspective each short
story is written in. Araby is told from a first person point of view, meanwhile, Eveline is written

Written in first person from the perspective of a young boy, Araby doesn t have quite the impact
that it s counterpart, Eveline has. Eveline however, is written from a third person perspective
from an older protagonist that deal with issue that are a bit more serious. In Eveline the
protagonist is afraid to run away from the past. Joyce expresses this well through his final two
sentences of the story She set her white face to him, passive, like a helpless animal. Her eyes
gave him no sign of love or farewell or recognition. This excerpt expresses the protagonists
feelings when she is committed to not getting on the boat. This scene exemplifies a moment in
which the protagonist seems to be in a slight shock as if the world around her is standing still. In
Eveline the protagonist chooses to live with her pleasant memories of her old family she grew up
with instead of unbounding herself from her currently abusive father, and running away to start a

How Did Henry Contribute To 1776 Dbq
On July 4th, 1776 the thirteen colonies declared Independence from England. The Actions and
Laws that I will address in this DBQ led to the revolution of the the thirteen colonies. Two British
laws that caused this were the Intolerable Acts which punished the colonists for the outcome of
Boston Tea Party which was when the Sons of Liberty boarded British ships and dumped chests
of tea into the Boston Port, and the Stamp Act which was when the British placed a tax on all
stamps. The action the colonists took was that they stripped, tarred, and feathered British soldiers
and they also started to rebel against the taxes. In May of 1765, Patrick Henry addressed the issue
of the Stamp Act to the Virginia House of Burgesses. In Patrick Henry s speech he... Show more

This is known as the Boston Tea Party, the Sons of Liberty did this in response to the British
placing a tax on tea. George Hughes wrote about disguising himself as an indian and boarding
the ships. This is what he said... It was now evening, and I immediately dressed myself in the
costume of an Indian, equipped with a small hatchet, which I and my associates denominated the
tomahawk, with which, and a club, after having painted my face and hands with coal dust in the
shop of a blacksmith, I repaired to Griffin s wharf, where the ships lay that contained the tea.
When I first appeared in the street after being thus disguised, I fell in with a many who were
dressed, equipped and painted as I was, and who fell in with me and marched in order to the place
of our destination. We then were ordered by our commander to open the hatches and take out all the
chests of tea and throw them overboard, and we immediately proceeded to execute his orders, first
cutting and splitting the chests with our tomahawks, so as thoroughly to expose them to the effects
of the water. (Document

Native American Sweat Lodge Research Paper
Native American sweat lodge ceremonies are more than just sweating. They are purifying
rituals used for many purposes depending on the culture and the occasion. Most sweat lodge
ceremonies are used for healing purposes, to give thanks to their spirits or their God, for seeking
of wisdom and to clear their mind, body, and soul. According to aktalakota.stjo.org, the term
sweat lodge means to live again (Raymond A. Bucko, 1989). Native American sweat ceremonies
usually take place in round, circular lodges. Some cultures use teepees, or even pits that are
covered with tree branches. Most lodges or teepees are generally made of wood. Hot rocks are
placed in the middle of the lodge by a firekeeper and heated to 102 degrees. Water is occasionally
poured over the heated rocks to create a hot and steamy lodge. The lodge is designed to make it a
safe and sacred place. It is where they can go to concentrate on the spirits that are invited to the
ceremony. Some ceremonies can last up to two hours (K. Cohen, 2006). According to tradition,
nothing or no one should come into the sweat lodge that does not have Native American
significance and that includes clothing. Therefore, the ceremonies are performed in... Show more

A medicine man begins by setting up an altar. This altar, usually has some type of antler to hold
the sacred pipe. Then he sets four different sacred herbs in the middle of the lodge or teepee.
There are four sacred herbs in the Native culture that are used for sweats. One is sage, which
purifies a room of all negative energies. The second herb is sweet grass which brings in spirits
from the other side to heal you. The third herb is cedar which is for purification purposes. The
fourth herb is tobacco. Tobacco has always been sacred to the Native American culture. The
tobacco is used to smoke in the sacred pipe. This pipe is used to bless the earth (Winona LaDuke

Second Treatise By John Locke Analysis
Throughout John Locke s Second Treatise of Government, God s intentions and purpose for
humanity can be seen. Locke believes that God plays a significant role in equality by creating all
men equally and by establishing divine laws. God also establishes moral limits on the authority
of rulers over their subjects. In Locke s Second Treatise, God plays multiple roles in the
development of a political society. God s role is to create men equally in the state of nature,
develop boundaries of property, and motivate the common man to cultivate land and not waste
resources. Thus, God plays a large role in society by providing basic, fundamental rights, which
cannot be taken away, to all men. In the beginning of the book, in Chapter II, Locke says... Show

Locke believes that the people should be the first judges and get to be able to elect a new
legislature if the old one is corrupt. However, if the legislature ignores the people, then God
alone, it is true, is judge of the right (Locke 123). This quote reveals that God is the ultimate
judge between the people and the sovereign. God gives the people the right to rebel if the
legislature or ruler is mistreating the people. If the sovereign refuses judgment from the people,
then only God is able to decide if he is guilty. This role God plays allows the people to maintain
their natural rights, if a sovereign is acting unjustly by sending dissension throughout the
commonwealth. Through God, Locke is able to ensure that a corrupt government does not
compromise the people s basic rights. However, the implication of God s role in judgment is that
he is unable to speak directly to the people or the sovereign himself. Thus, the people must be
accountable for the actions of the sovereign themselves, as God is unable to act physically upon

A Study On Becoming A Librarian
Introduction
There is more than one type of librarian and they play many roles this day and age. They were
once thought of as being the keeper of knowledge and were the go to persons for any and
everything. Some specialize in areas of interest such as cataloging, allocation, archives, and even
special collections. While others, depending on what type of library they work in conduct all of the
above job functions and more. With the advancement of technology and its forever growing
spear, librarians are being expected to know how no matter the size of the duty or request.

duties? Is learning the basics of technology enough or should librarians have extensive training
and knowledge in the advancement of technology as well as becoming involved with its ever
increasing span? These are just a few of the examples of what is being sought after from librarians
when being considered for positions. A librarian should have a holistic approach to working within
the field and become forever students of learning the newest technology. This, in fact, will allow
them to become more marketable when seeking employment in various venues of the library world.
Training and Education
Whether it is a public librarian, academic librarian, a law librarian, a librarian working in the
business field, or a medical librarian, it is the norm for librarians to understand the dynamics of
technology. Not only are librarians required to have knowledge of the newest technology, they are
also being required to be able to use it. Sometimes there is a gap in what is being taught to future
librarians in their school programs and what is being required of them within the job sector. In
order to sustain as a competitor within the workforce, librarians need to be prepared to reach
beyond the classroom guidance along with teaching and seek outside resources for further

Alprazolam
One example of a type of benzodiazepine is alprazolam. Alprazolam is a scientifically proven
effective benzodiazepine for generalized anxiety disorders and panic disorders (Griffin, Kaye,
Kaye, 2013). It is short acting and highly potent, with an elimination half life of 6.3 to 26.9 hours
(Griffin, Kaye, Kaye, 2013). Due to its short elimination half life, a prevalent issue found with
alprazolamis that high levels of anxiety occur abruptly after discontinuing the drug (Griffin,
Kaye, Kaye, 2013). It belongs in the triazolo subgroup of benzodiazepines, as it has a triazolo
ring at the 1,2 position, and a carbon chain attached to it (Maddison, Page, Church , 2008). The
triazolo ring is a five membered ring made up of three nitrogen and two carbon atoms. There are

For the expression of inhibitory activity, the presence of an electronegative group is present at this
position (Hruby Vardanyan, 2006). This type of benzodiazepineis readily absorbed in the body,
with peak concentrations times in the plasma of around one to two hours after administration
(Xanax, 2014). The presence of an OH group make compounds less lipophilic and thus are
absorbed slower (Griffin, Kaye, Kaye, 2013). Since there isn t any OH group attached to
alprazolam, it is a high protein bound agent (80%), and has a fast absorption rate and onset of
action (Griffin, Kaye, Kaye, 2013). With faster absorption rates, means a faster distribution rate to
the brain and the GABA A receptors (Griffin, Kaye, Kaye, 2013)Alprazolam is metabolized by the
cytochrome P450 enzymes into two major metabolites called 4 hydroxyalprazolam and О±
hydroxyalprazolam (Alprazolam Intensol, n.d.). The drug and its metabolites are then excreted in
the urine (Alprazolam Intensol, n.d.). The synthesis of alprazolam is from 2 chloroquinoline

Zar It Or Fast Fashion
Introduction
Zara IT or Fast Fashion is a case prepared at Harvard Business School, by Andrew McAfee,
Vincent Dessian, and Anders Sjoman. Zara is a fashion clothing line under the multinational
clothing retailer and manufacturer Intidex. The case opens with a discussion between Xan Salgado
Badas (Head of IT for Intidex) and Bruno Sanchez Ocampo a subordinate, on whether or not to
update the current existing Windows DOS based POS (Point of Sale) terminals with advanced
Windows operating system. The paper further details the business model and IT dependency. We try
to analyze the current business model, its IT dependency, and why and how it needs to upgrade its
IT infrastructure.
Brief History
Amancio Ortego started clothing factories in Spain, in 1963. In an attempt to integrate the
manufacturing with the unpredictable customer demand, he opened the first Zara store in La
Coruna in 1997. Zara came under Intidex multinational companyin 1985 and Jose Maria
Castellano Rios, who shared the same opinion as Ortego that IT was important for their business,
joined the company, who later became the CEO of Intidex in 1997. By 2003, Intidex had 1,558
stores in 45 countries, of which 550 were part of Zara chain.
Current Business State
The operating system used is Microsoft DOS which supports all the systems and computer operated
machinery including the PDAs (personal digital assistants) which are handheld devices used in
ordering. All the applications being run on the systems have

Donald Trump And The President Of The United States Essay
Will Donald Trump fulfill America s request and actually make America great again ? When
friends of mine who are Trump supporters inform me that they support him, I don t understand
the reasons why they picture him as our future president of the united states. Donald Trump has
never been an elected official. He has never been elected into an office of any kind. He s never
had to broker political compromise or gave any political speeches prior to him running for
president. With no experience in politics at all, why would people think he d make a good
president? Sure, Donald Trumpis a barefaced self promoter and experienced businessman. But
people don t realize all of the mistakes he has made as a businessman. Washington, D.C., is not a
type of Wall Street or anything for him to lose money or make some reckless decisions that
would put our country into a deeper hole that we are already into, and also getting multiple
things done within the nation s capital takes more than a huge personality and a strong will. If
Donald Trump is elected to be our president, he ll have to quickly learn how to deal with his
Democratic associates in the House of Representatives and Senate. He ll also have to get used to
the pace of government because there are moments when things can accelerate pretty quickly and
also where things can move extremely slow at times. He ll also have to get used to giving
speeches on topics he may not be interested in, especially when it comes to conversations

2000 Us Presidential Election Essay
Introduction
The US Presidential Election of 2000 featured George W. Bush and Al Gore. It will go down in
history as one of the most closest electionsВЎВ¦ in US history. It also goes down as one of the most
controversial. The final decision was based on just a few hundred votes in Florida. The controversy
began when the media prematurely declared the winner twice based solely on exit polls. They
finally conceded that the Florida count was just too close to predict. It would take a month before
the election was ultimately certified after numerous court challenges and vote recounts. Republican
candidate George W. Bushwas declared the winner of the FloridaВЎВ¦s 25 electoral votes. This

As in the past, the media was covering the all important election. They had always relied on exit
polls as the polls closed across the nation. In reality, the Florida results were just too close to call.
Nevertheless, that did not stop the media from doing so. Not once, but twice, major news media
outlets were erroneous in their report. Around 8pm, it was declared that Al Gore was the
projected winner of the electoral votes in the state of Florida. However, a couple of hours later,
the projection was retracted and restated as Florida as being too close to call. Then, just after
2am on November 8, the mistake was made for a second time. The major networks declared
George W. as the winner. This even led to Al Gore calling the Governor to concede. However, as
Gore prepared to address his supporters in Nashville, Tennessee, he was alert to the shrinking
numbers in BushВЎВ¦s lead. The final total was now less than one half of a percent lead in favor
of Bush. That immediately calls for a recount of votes under state law. Subsequently, Gore called
Bush and retracted his concession. It wasnВЎВ¦t over yet! One thing was, Al Gore had prevailed in
the popular vote but without FloridaВЎВ¦s tally, the electoral vote was up in the air. The election
wasnВЎВ¦t over and the recounts began.

To make the circuit cold , what do you need to do? WHY?
Answer:
To make the circuit cold we have to adjust the voltage, because the v is proportional to i the current,
which is proportional to the temperature.

Resistance in a Wire :
1. In this sim, what variables are you seeing? Write the formula below, and indicate the units used to
measure each one.
Answer:
The variables been shown in the simulater are the voltage, current, and ressistance. V(volts) =
I(Ampers)* R(Ohms).
2. Try increasing the resistivity of the resistor, ПЃ.How does this change the look of the resistor?
Describe how that relates to the formula you just wrote (direct, indirect relationships, etc.). What
happens to the value of R (Resistance)? Is this something that can be changed in a resistor that you
would buy in a store to use in a circuit?
Answer:
Increasing the resistivity the resistor gets bigger, which directly effects the current by making it
smaller. Indirectly the voltage to push the current through has to be stronger to push the current
through. The value of R gets larger, you can change the resistance, but you would have to change
out the resistor element to do this.

The Indian Of Indian Bengal
The famous scholar M.A. Rahim has said in his The History of Bengal Muslims that, It is a matter
of great wonder that the Hindu politicians who have raised movements to protect the division of
Bengal in 1905 , have claimed for the division of Bengal in 1947.On the other hand, the Muslims
who have supported the decision of dividing Bengalin 1905 have protested against the division of
Bengal in 1947. Actually lack of solution of community disputes, lack of cordial approach of
British Government, selfishness of the politicians of two most political parties Muslim Leagueand
Congress etc. were the actors led the way of division of Bengal. The Bengal was divided into two
parts. The Hindu West Bengal became the part of India and the predominately Muslim East Bengal
(present Bangladesh) became the part of Pakistan. The partition was done on 14 15 August, 1947
in the reign of Lord Mountbatten. This partition of Bengal also divided the people spoke Bangla in
different ascend in different areas.
Political Economical Reasons behind the Division of Bengal
There are numerous political economic reason working behind the division of Bengal. But political
reasons were mostly related to this division. They are:
The Eagerness of British Government:
Bengal is a prosperous province. With the establishment of British rule and the establishment of
Kolkata as capital the importance of Bengal increased more and more. The West Bengal became an
industrially impoverished area. The target

Thurmond Rule Pros And Cons
The Thurmond Rule is an informal and somewhat amorphous rule in the United States Senate
regarding confirmations of judicial nominees. While it originated with former Senator Strom
Thurmond s opposition to President Lyndon Johnson s nomination of Justice Abe Fortas to be
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in June 1968, the specifics of the rule vary between sources.
Thurmond himself said that no lifetime judicial appointments should move in the last six months
or so of a lame duck presidency.[1] In the last year of George W. Bush s second term Democratic
Senator Patrick Leahy stated the rule as meaning judicial nominations do not advance in the Senate
in the latter part of a presidential election year without the support of Senate leaders... Show more

For example, Senator Leahy rejected the rule in the closing months of the Democratic Clinton
administration,[3] but later invoked the rule in the last months of the Republican Bush
administration as noted above. In March 2008, Leahy wrote a letter to Bush stating I urge you to
work with senators from other states, as well, so that we might make progress before time runs out
on your presidency and the Thurmond rule precludes additional confirmations. [2] In June 2012,
however, Leahy said it is troubling to hear Senate Republicans already talking about how they plan
to resort to the Thurmond Rule to shut down all judicial confirmations for the rest of the year. [4]
In 2004, Republican Senator Orrin Hatch dismissed the rule: Strom Thurmond unilaterally on his
own ... when he was chairman could say whatever he wanted to, but that didn t bind the whole
committee, and it doesn t bind me. [5] Some Senators profess ignorance of the rule; asked about its
meaning, Senator Trent Lott wondered if it had to do with how long a Senator should remain in the
chamber, given Thurmond s recordsetting

Games of the Ancient Olympics
The Olympics began in ancient Olympia Greece, which lies 10km east of Pirgos, in a valley
between Mt. Kronos, the Alfios river, and the Kladeos. This area was inhabited by the Pisans,
whose King was Oinomaus. His daughter Hippodameia had married Pelops, and it has been said
that the first games were held in their honor around 1000 B.C. Through the years the games began
to attract interest in nearby towns. In 776 B.C. , the leader of the Eleians, Iphitos, rededicated the
games to the honor of Zeus, (the most important god in the ancient Greek pantheon). As a result of
the religious nature of the games, all wars would cease during the contests. The original games

The pentathlon was said to be invented by Jason, who combined the five events and awarded the
first prize to a friend, Peleus, who placed second in everything except for wrestling, which he placed
first. The pentathlon was a combination of light events: jumping, running, javelin and heavy
events: discus and wrestling. While it remains unknown how the decision of the winner was made,
it is believed that the last two winners confronted each other in wrestling, with the winner declared
pentathlon victor. Speed, strength, skill, and endurance are all qualities necessary to participate in
the pentathlon. A quote from Aristotle, The pentathletes are the best, because they are naturally
endowed with both strength and speed (Foundation of the Hellenic World [FHW], 1). Boxing, added
in 688 B.C., was first mentioned in Homeric poems, and was held in honor of Patroclus. It is said
that Apollo, who defeated and killed Phorbus, was the inventor of the boxing event. The ancient
boxing differed in many ways from the modern boxing that we are used to. While having no time
limit to the fight, opponents fought until one raised his hand in defeat, or fell knocked out or dead.
An effective tactic of ancient boxing was positioning your opponent to face the sun, blinding him
with the glare. When a match would stalemate, the contestants had the option of klimax, which
meant both men stood still and allowed his opponent a blow without making an attempt to avoid it.

  • 2. Types Of Strategies For Foreign Locations Essay There are two types of strategies for foreign locations, a centralized location from which a facility can serve the world market and a decentralized location where facilities are set up in various regional or national locations close to major markets. A centralized location is chosen when there is a substantial difference among various countries in manufacturing costs due to each country s costs, political economy, and culture. It s preferred when trade barriers are low, exchange rates are expected to remain stable, the product s value to weight ratio is high, and the product serves universal needs. If the production technology used by the firm has high fixed costs and high minimum efficient scale relative to global demand they can benefit from a centralized location. Centralizing is also favored when externalities arise from the concentration of like enterprises that favor certain locations. Conversely, decentralization is preferred when trade barriers are high, location externalities aren t important, exchange rates are volatile, the product s value to weight ratio is low, and the product does not serve universal needs. If production technology has low fixed costs, low minimum efficient scale and flexible manufacturing technology is not available, decentralizing is favored. Decentralization is also chosen if manufacturing costs in various countries are not substantially impacted by differences in factor costs, political economy, and culture. There are ... I know you just want to sit by your little friend, Kendall. So please stay where you are. And do NOT roll your eyes at me. I slip them over my ears and onto the bridge of my nose. Wow! These are amazing, I can see perfectly now. I think they re great! I ll get them. We go up to the front desk again, and pay $75 with our credit card for the glasses and we re out of there! They give me the black case to keep my glasses and some spray and a little wipe to go along with tit to clean off my glasses lens. So, mom. What do you think of my new glasses? She looks at me as she starts the car, then looks up at my glasses. She suppresses a smile and says, Well if you can see the boards at school, then I love them! Taken from an earlier analysis and evaluation project, the travel division team identified financial, customer, internal, and learning critical success factors (CSFs) needed to gain greater efficiency and effectiveness to reduce internal complacency and the threat of an external takeover (Hicks, 2010). • 7. Reliability Of The Measurement Instrument Essay 4.3Reliability analysis To evaluate the reliability of the measurement instrument it was developed an internal consistency analysis through Cronbach s alpha. It is an index that takes values between 0 and 1, used to verify if the instrument is reliable and performs stable and consistent measurements (Santesmases, 2009). Cronbach s alpha estimates the lower limit of the reliability coefficient and it is expressed through Formula 2. (2) Where k is the number of items in the test; Si2 is the items variance (from 1...i) and S2sum is the total test variance. This means that the reliability depends on the test length and the covariance among its items (Santesmases, 2009). It is important to mention that it was decided to apply a pilot test to 40 customers, with the purpose of measuring the questionnaire s internal consistency. In the first version, the test was integrated by 22 items distributed in five dimensions and after being undergone to Cronbach s alpha validity test, the instrument was redesigned to 20 items, as is shown in Graphic 4. A farm laborer s wife and six children died after suffering terrible symptoms such as blackened and rotting limbs. In 1951 in Pont Saint Esprit, France, there was another such episode in which either ergot or LSD was implicated. In this small village, dozens of people suffered violent delusions requiring restraints and hospitalization. Five people died. At first, this outbreak was considered related to a possible fungal infection of local grain, but later evidence showed that it could have been connected to something far more sinister. According to an article from BBC News, a document from a CIA agent implied that the village may have suffered from a public test of LSD that was produced in Sandoz Chemical, a few hundred kilometers away. Despite the violent symptoms associated with ergot poisoning, the substance has been used medicinally. It has been used to treat migraines and Parkinson s disease, and to induce abortion. Rabbi Moshe Weinberger of YU s Stone Beit Medrish Program agrees that the balance between traditional Judaic studies and spirituality is missing throughout a lot of the Modern Orthodox community. Of Course, the Modern Orthodox movement stresses the importance of all singing, dancing, and storytelling, but not to the extent of the Chassidic movement. And I believe that the success of NCSY and Bnei Akiva are due to focus on the characteristically Chassidic traditions. Further, the culmination of the Rebbe s movement has led to what Rabbi Moshe Weinberger calls the neo chassidus movement. Song Of Solomon Discrimination Quotes normalization, by the society they live in, of the way these women are treated goes hand in hand with the way men seem to discard them so easily, because in Song of Solomon the women are the ones who get left behind. Morrison tries to break the stereotypical characterization of the women s dependency on men, for instance by creating characters like Pilate who are more than capable to break free. In the novel it is noticeable that some of the women are those who seem to be unable to fly and suffer the most at the hand of the characters who are able. They are trapped in their marriages, crushed by heavy burdens and try to survive day by day. (Morrison, 1977) Some women seem to be grounded and trapped on earth. They are obsessive and rely on the safe and familiar places they have known their whole lives , for instance Ruth Foster Dead, she is milkman s mother and the daughter of the first negro doctor in town. • 14. Texas Battle For Independence And Juan Seguin Essay Texas Battle for Independence and Juan Seguin The battle for Texas independence was a hard battle. Many lives were taken, home destroyed, and families were torn apart. Texas residents wanted to break away from Mexico and become a self governing republic inside of Mexico because they did not like Santa Anna s laws. Mexico did not allow slave immigration, so Texaswanted to be a part of the United Statesthat allowed slavery. But the main reason was that Mexico would not change or consider any government ideas that the Anglos and Mexicans had for Texas, and resulted in Santa Anna ruling and making all the laws and decisions. Santa Anna also overthrew the Mexican government and made himself the Mexican dictator. Stephen Austin came to try and settle the trouble caused by the suggestion of Texas constitution, but instead Santa Anna imprisoned him for a year. The Texas Revolutionfor its independence took place from October 2, 1835, to April 21, 1836. The revolution started with the rejection of their constitution and then the first shots fired at Gonzales, continued with the Battles of Goliad and Concepcion, the Siege of Bexar and ended with the Battle of San Jacinto. The Battle of San Jacinto was a short fight, lasting only 6 minutes, but it was the most important and memorable fight. Although the revolution was shorter than most wars in history, it was one of the most important fights in Texas history. The revolution helped Texas gain its independence and brought the ... • 15. Summary Of The Song Changes By Charles Bradley Changes by Charles Bradley is a song that resonates with me as a song that triggers an emotional response. The song was first released in 2013 and is a cover of the 1972 band Black Sabbath (Cory, 2017). It is apparent by the title that the topic for the song is the changes that the artist is going through or has gone through in his life. At the very beginning of the song, Bradley says She was my woman. I loved her so. But it s too late now. I ve let her go... But soon the world. Had its evil way , which illustrates the loss of a partner but is still ambiguous in how he lost her but one can infer it was due to death (Cory, 2017). When I first heard the song, I immediately searched for it on the internet and listened to the whole version because I thought it was such a powerful song. The lyrics of the song tell a story, it is one of pain and sorrow, but it s a story that I think everyone can relate to. The lyrics are very simple and they all come together to form a detailed depiction of Bradley s emotions. When I hear Bradley sing about his loss, it triggers me into thinking about the loved ones that I have lost. The rhythm of the song is very slow pace and calm, which sets the mood for Bradley s gritty deep voice, but when the chorus hits, then the saxophone jumps in to excite the whole song. The beat is soft enough to induce a deep thought and when the chorus hits, you do not get the usual sense of excitement but rather one of contempt delight. Lastly, the artist is another thing that triggers a Dionysian response for me, the reason being that Bradley looks just like my grandfather that passed about a year ago. Every time I see Bradley, I think of my grandfather and all of the time I spent with him, not to mention that the author s last name matches that of my family. Schools and Education The Rise in Apathy, Cheating and Plagiarism Understanding the Problem Over the past ten years teachers have witnessed a drop in student preparation and a rise in apathy and cheating. Students who cheat do so from a variety of motives. Making this situation even more difficult is that faculty members do not even define plagiarism the same or punish it consistently (Howard, Sexuality 473). Some surveys even show that teachers simply ignore the problem or do not report plagiarism because: they do not want to be bothered, because they think only the student who cheated is actually harmed, or because of the unpleasant bureaucracy and documentation ramifications (Moeck 484). Conventional wisdom of the time believed that students learned to write well and think better by becoming acquainted with the works of great writers and thinkers. Only by showing a mastery of the masters could one establish authorial authority, and because the author s audience knew the masters too, the student had no need to cite sources (Howard, Plagiarisms 788). It isn t until the late 17th Century that British authors begin hurling the accusation of plagiarist at each other. Ideologically this makes sense because after the fall of Rome, Western Europe fell into a dark age. Not until the Renaissance do we see another spurt of humanism that marked the great classic periods of Greece and Rome. Before the invention of the printing press, the rise in literacy, and the focus on humans as perfectible creations who can create important works by themselves, there was very little need for authorial ownership. In the Renaissance, associating an author s name with a work was generally tied to prosecution for blasphemy and libel (Hammond 23). Authorship could only develop as a profession when it became respectable for individuals to live off their wits (23). Not until 1709 do we find the first copyright law protecting ownership rights, and this did not solve the thorny problem of intellectual property and how to protect an idea (36 37). This was introduced as they needed trade to feed the people of Athens as their population was growing, they had a vast trading empire across the Mediterranean. One main source of trade was pottery, pottery was exported from the Athens to others to allow them to make money. Pottery was important as it was also used to store other sources of trade, for example, wine and wheats. This helped spread the Greek culture beyond the Mediterranean, into other parts of the world. The rulers wanted new luxury goods and better armaments, and encouraged crafts like carpentry, metal smelting, spinning, weaving and dyeing (Osborne, 2007, p. 33). Throughout the 19th century, the American people were trapped in a rapidly industrializing nation flooded with corruption and greed. His many works span in genre and form, from the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet to the poem of a father s unconditional love and eventual acceptance of a loved one s death. Through a vast variety of linguistic and structural techniques, he is able to promote, develop and explain his personal ideology of love. Evidence of this is seen through the character of Romeo in Romeo and Juliet and the narrative voice in a selection of sonnets. It is through this line that Shakespeare goes on to explain how his love for his son will never diminish, as it is immortalised, along with his son, in the poem. This is the act of creating an autotelic memorial in that the poem will never fade away, ever when the writer dies. Due to this, Shakespeare is able to show that his concept of love, no matter what form it is in, is so strong and true that it is infinite and can overcome all obstacles, even death itself. To a 16th century reader, the concept of love taking many forms and overcoming even death was unconventional, as it contrasted greatly to the accepted ideal of courtly love, which was limited and weak. • 30. My Current Educational Coursework And Field Experiences Reflection #2 Throughout my current educational coursework and field experiences, I have explored and engaged in the use of multiple assessments to gather both formative and summative data to check for student knowledge of the standards. As stated by Bransford (1999), Assessment should mirror good instruction; happen continuously as part of instruction; and provide information about the levels of understanding that students are reaching. Any type of assessment is an important assessment that helps teachers assess students whether it is a formative or summative assessment. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, Summative assessments are an assessments OF student learning. When I say OF student learning I mean, an assessment over a unit, particular skill or standard a teacher needs to assess AFTER her teaching is completed. For example, tests, projects, EOCT, GMAS and other standardized tests are summative assessments. Tomlinson (2013) explains that, summative assessment suggests that a grade will be given and a student s performance will be evaluated based, to some degree, on the information elicited. As stated previously, summative assessments are taken for a grade to assess a student s knowledge OF the standards. These assessments also help us see which students got where we needed them to be. Although both assessments are different in many ways, they both have a purpose in a classroom especially when differentiating. According to Teaching Tolerance (2016) Differentiated Instruction (DI) is an approach where teachers proactively plan varied approaches to what students need to learn, how they will learn it and how they express what they ve learned. Assessments are a way to help teachers differentiate by flexible grouping to focus on a particular skill or group students who are on the same level. In relation to the previous statement, Tomlinson and Moon (2013) state that, Understanding the mutuality that excellent teachers strive to achieve among the elements also establishes a clear context for an extended discussion of ... • 36. How Technology Has Changed Us Technology has evolved rapidly in previous years, making the completion of task more convenient. In order to effectively highlight convenience to consumers, data security must come into consideration. The transition from swipe/PIN cards to contactless has introduced yet also removed security issues. Swipe cards use a magnetic stripe containing the necessary banking details, found on the back of the card. These types of swipe cards are outdated and have been upgraded with chips, which provide better security of data through complex encryption. The widely accepted method of two factor authentication utilises this chip as well as a PIN that the card owner knows which strengthens the security design. Contactless cards have an embedded RFID chip having similar functionality to those found commonly in PIN/Swipe chip cards. These chips emit radio waves instead of requiring the user to dip/swipe their card. The card is placed near an electromagnetic field emitted by a card reading terminal allowing the transfer of encrypted data to authenticate the transaction. Compared to contactless cards, magnetic stripe swipe cards can be easily exploited as the information stored on the magnetic stripe is static. This means it can be cloned onto a fake card, giving it the same credentials and allowing unauthorised use. The low level of security of magnetic stripe swipe cards is also highlighted by the fact that the user merely has to sign after the transaction. Whereas the chip found in PIN ... • 38. Leadership Theories And Its Impact On The Leadership Process Followership Leadership theories have been, throughout history, well covered and studied by researchers. The main characteristic of a leader is having followers, therefore, it is interesting to notice that the importance of followership has been undermined by academics (Uhl Bien, Riggio, Lowe, Carsten, 2014). The followers behaviors affect the leaders behaviors, and vice versa, therefore it is beneficial to managers to understand followership theories. Followership is the study of the nature and impact of followers in the leadership process (Uhl Bien et al.). It is interesting to notice that followership has a negative connotation in today s society, as it is mistakenly considered as the simple ability to follow the directions of people in charge. The term follower is linked to a passive, weak, conforming, and negative image (insert Bjugstad, Thach, Thompson, Morris, 2006); therefore, individuals in organizations avoid being labeled as followers. In contrast, the term leadership has appeal and is linked to positive images which increase the motivations to be leaders instead of followers. However, individuals in organizations are very likely to play both roles (as he/she has both bosses and subordinates) so the ability to be effective followers is vital to the success of the organization. The context of these references has majorly affected the way in which they are received and perceived by the wider public, expressly in times of social or political change and unrest. Conventional practice in the entertainment industries has developed over time but drugs, their users and dealers, including the consumption and production, continue to be portrayed in a mainly negative light, showing the complexity of this particular social process. Context, being the time and place in which the medium is being produced, assumes a major responsibility in the portrayal of drugs themselves, the user, the dealer and the trafficker. Zinberg s (1984) description of drug use as drug, set and setting presents strongly in the notion of context. This is evident in the portrayal of a drug on screen as it becomes increasingly popular amongst the public. Social and political changes affect usage and its representation of drugs in a community and the wider world. The 1960s and 70s saw a hippie, anti establishment counterculture emerge and with this came an expansion of drug culture. Answer: The electrons move because they experience a electric current force in the wire. The battery causes an electric field and the electrons experience a force due to that field. The current flows in the opposite direction of the electrons and the flow of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To make the circuit cold , what do you need to do? WHY? Answer: To make the circuit cold we have to adjust the voltage, because the v is proportional to i the current, which is proportional to the temperature. 7. Describe the relationship between voltage and temperature. Answer: The higher the voltage, the hotter the temperature will be. Go to: http://phet.colorado.edu/simulations/sims.php?sim=Ohms_Law Resistance in a Wire : 1. In this sim, what variables are you seeing? Write the formula below, and indicate the units used to measure each one. Answer: The variables been shown in the simulater are the voltage, current, and ressistance. V(volts) = I(Ampers)* R(Ohms). 2. Try increasing the resistivity of the resistor, ПЃ.How does this change the look of the resistor? Describe how that relates to the formula you just wrote (direct, indirect relationships, etc.). What happens to the value of R (Resistance)? Is this something that can be changed in a resistor that you would buy in a store to use in a circuit? Answer: Increasing the resistivity the resistor gets bigger, which directly effects the current by making it

  • 51. The Indian Of Indian Bengal The famous scholar M.A. Rahim has said in his The History of Bengal Muslims that, It is a matter of great wonder that the Hindu politicians who have raised movements to protect the division of Bengal in 1905 , have claimed for the division of Bengal in 1947.On the other hand, the Muslims who have supported the decision of dividing Bengalin 1905 have protested against the division of Bengal in 1947. Actually lack of solution of community disputes, lack of cordial approach of British Government, selfishness of the politicians of two most political parties Muslim Leagueand Congress etc. were the actors led the way of division of Bengal. The Bengal was divided into two parts. The Hindu West Bengal became the part of India and the predominately Muslim East Bengal (present Bangladesh) became the part of Pakistan. The partition was done on 14 15 August, 1947 in the reign of Lord Mountbatten. This partition of Bengal also divided the people spoke Bangla in different ascend in different areas. Political Economical Reasons behind the Division of Bengal There are numerous political economic reason working behind the division of Bengal. But political reasons were mostly related to this division. They are: The Eagerness of British Government: Bengal is a prosperous province. With the establishment of British rule and the establishment of Kolkata as capital the importance of Bengal increased more and more. The West Bengal became an industrially impoverished area. • 52. Thurmond Rule Pros And Cons The Thurmond Rule is an informal and somewhat amorphous rule in the United States Senate regarding confirmations of judicial nominees. While it originated with former Senator Strom Thurmond s opposition to President Lyndon Johnson s nomination of Justice Abe Fortas to be Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in June 1968, the specifics of the rule vary between sources. Thurmond himself said that no lifetime judicial appointments should move in the last six months or so of a lame duck presidency.[1] In the last year of George W. Bush s second term Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy stated the rule as meaning judicial nominations do not advance in the Senate in the latter part of a presidential election year without the support of Senate leaders... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Senator Leahy rejected the rule in the closing months of the Democratic Clinton administration,[3] but later invoked the rule in the last months of the Republican Bush administration as noted above. In March 2008, Leahy wrote a letter to Bush stating I urge you to work with senators from other states, as well, so that we might make progress before time runs out on your presidency and the Thurmond rule precludes additional confirmations. [2] In June 2012, however, Leahy said it is troubling to hear Senate Republicans already talking about how they plan to resort to the Thurmond Rule to shut down all judicial confirmations for the rest of the year. [4] In 2004, Republican Senator Orrin Hatch dismissed the rule: Strom Thurmond unilaterally on his own ... when he was chairman could say whatever he wanted to, but that didn t bind the whole committee, and it doesn t bind me. [5] Some Senators profess ignorance of the rule; asked about its meaning, Senator Trent Lott wondered if it had to do with how long a Senator should remain in the chamber, given Thurmond s recordsetting ... • 53. Games of the Ancient Olympics Essay Games of the Ancient Olympics The Olympics began in ancient Olympia Greece, which lies 10km east of Pirgos, in a valley between Mt. Kronos, the Alfios river, and the Kladeos. This area was inhabited by the Pisans, whose King was Oinomaus. His daughter Hippodameia had married Pelops, and it has been said that the first games were held in their honor around 1000 B.C. Through the years the games began to attract interest in nearby towns. In 776 B.C. , the leader of the Eleians, Iphitos, rededicated the games to the honor of Zeus, (the most important god in the ancient Greek pantheon). As a result of the religious nature of the games, all wars would cease during the contests. The original games only consisted of one race, one day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pentathlon was said to be invented by Jason, who combined the five events and awarded the first prize to a friend, Peleus, who placed second in everything except for wrestling, which he placed first. The pentathlon was a combination of light events: jumping, running, javelin and heavy events: discus and wrestling. While it remains unknown how the decision of the winner was made, it is believed that the last two winners confronted each other in wrestling, with the winner declared pentathlon victor. Speed, strength, skill, and endurance are all qualities necessary to participate in the pentathlon. A quote from Aristotle, The pentathletes are the best, because they are naturally endowed with both strength and speed (Foundation of the Hellenic World [FHW], 1). Boxing, added in 688 B.C., was first mentioned in Homeric poems, and was held in honor of Patroclus. It is said that Apollo, who defeated and killed Phorbus, was the inventor of the boxing event. The ancient boxing differed in many ways from the modern boxing that we are used to. While having no time limit to the fight, opponents fought until one raised his hand in defeat, or fell knocked out or dead. An effective tactic of ancient boxing was positioning your opponent to face the sun, blinding him with the glare. When a match would stalemate, the contestants had the option of klimax, which meant both men stood still and allowed his opponent a blow without making an attempt to avoid it. For ...
