This document summarizes the activities and lessons from a production diary for a film studies course. It includes analyzing genres and their conventions, studying camera techniques through image analysis, writing an essay on how films draw in audiences, learning about narrative and character theories, creating mind maps to analyze film openings, storyboarding initial shots for an opening, learning about low vs high budget film institutions, making a mood board for a horror genre, and developing character profiles. The goal of these exercises was to help the student better understand film techniques and apply them to developing their own opening sequence for a genre-specific film.
