Diversity makes
the group communication
very complex
The collective experience
and intelligence
are stronger than
the individual one
But those experiences
and individual insight
are only useful
to the group
if they are shared
For instance:
Coordinating

in turns to
speak from
two to three
minutes each
so that
ALL
MEMBERS
can air
their views

We feel good
when someone

It improves

As a result,
we can increase
the self-esteem of
all group members
and raise hopes,
confidence, and aspiration
of the group as a whole

conflict can lead to

Whenever conflict

is to focus
discussion on issues

6. Summing up
• Both, task and process leadership are essential to the success of
an ongoing small group.
• Therefore, if a comfortable environment is not maintained, the
members tend to focus their attention and energy on their own
dissatisfaction with the group rather than on their assigned task.
• Finally, for a group to be effective, a leader must be available
to guide and control the group. However, leadership
responsibilities can be assumed by anyone in the group if the
group becomes disorganized.
