Doppler ultrasound uses sound waves to measure blood flow throughout the veins. It can detect injuries in arteries and is commonly used to check for blood clots, weak valves, and blocked arteries. Stress testing evaluates the heart during physical activity to detect any defects by getting the heart rate high. Thrombolytic therapy uses drugs like streptokinase or plasminogen injected into blood vessels to dissolve blood clots, which can cause heart attacks and strokes. The most common drug used is tPA.
